Why the Disney Princesses definitely need therapy: a Hot Take
Snow White
Losing her parents as a child and having to learn to take care of herself at a very young age (Snow White is 14 in the movie, and judging by her work ethic, she appears to at least have some experience with living independently before moving in with the 7 dwarves)
Lack of socialization due to isolation
Depression due to isolation and loneliness. This makes the whole “Someday My Prince Will Come” thing much more believable, because Snow White really isn’t in any sort of immediate danger and doesn’t need “saving” or whatever; she’s just tired of being alone and wants human companionship. (And tbh who can blame her? The poor girl’s literally talking to birds and moved in with the first group of humanoid creatures she could find ffs)
This one’s a bit of a stretch, but I’m pretty sure Snow White would also have an unhealthy fear of strangers and/or an irrational fear of being poisoned after the whole apple fiasco
Cinderella
Being raised in an abusive home environment for most (if not virtually all) of her life
The complete lack of positive social interaction throughout her life has probably led to problems with social withdrawal and isolation at some point, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she has repressed symptoms of chronic depression due to loneliness.
Her closest emotional confidants are literally two talking mice, and that just screams “My only friends are animals because their love is unconditional I’ve been invalidated and unloved by every human being in my life” (aka extreme emotional neglect)
She probably has tons of questions about her biological parents that were never answerd because, again, her stepfamily hated her, which would obviously lead to some emotional baggage
If we consider Cinderella III: A Twist in Time to be the new canon, she definitely has some unresolved PTSD from her near-death experience (the “almost getting crushed to death in the carriage because it was transforming back into a pumpkin” scene)
Aurora
Existential crisis because the three fairy godmothers basically rewrote her entire identity as “Rose” and hid the fact that she was a princess
Never knowing who her real parents were as a child, leading to emotional baggage similar to that of Cinderella and Snow White mentioned above
Either the emotional burden of having to make up for 16+ years of lost time with her biological family, or the grief of losing her biological family without ever getting the chance to know them (idk whether Aurora actually got to meet her parents by the end of the movie or if they died before she woke up, because I don’t remember exactly how much time had passed while she was in the coma)
Speaking of the spindle prick-induced magical coma (which is a really long-winded and inefficient way to kill someone honestly, idk what Melificent was thinking), Aurora also has to deal with the emotional burden of how much time has passed while she was in a coma, which would only further feed into the existential crisis and emotional trauma in bullet points 1 and 3.
(Also, off the record, but Aurora’s entire life post-movie is just a hot fucking mess and she really deserves a second movie exploring that concept imo. I know that Sleeping Beauty has already gotten a live-action villain spinoff, but the story of Aurora herself really deserves to be reexamined under a modern lens also. Aurora is easily one of the most overlooked Disney princesses and tbh she deserves more love.)
Belle (feat. the expanded lore from the live-action movie)
Witnessing her mother die from the plague in their own home
Being forceed to move from the more culturally progressive city of Paris to the unnamed “poor provential town” in the movie, where she is clearly the odd one out and is subject to gender inequality on a daily basis (in the form of being publically shamed and socially ostacized for being an educated woman)
Being regularly sexually harassed by Gaston, which is further exacerbated by the villagers and their close-mindedness. Not only is Gaston’s behavior enabled and encouraged by the villagers, but they even go so far as to idolize Gaston — as shown during his namesake song — despite his obviously predatory actions, simply because he is a cishet white man that they find conventionally attractive
Watching her father get arrested despite being 100% innocent...TWICE
Also being arrested when her father is wrongly convicted a second time, by none other than her abuser
Watching her lover — who besides her parents was the first person in her life who truly loved her and respected her intellect despite being a woman — nearly die in her arms, as well as everyone else in the castle (who ALSO respected her regardless of her gender) nearly die at the same exact time.
...And you know, Stockholm Syndrome or whatever. (But tbh, given how everyone in the castle was very kind and respectful and how the Beast was a tsundere at best, Belle would probably suffer far more from PTSD brought upon by Gaston and her previous environment than from “Stockholm Syndrome” in a castle where everyone actually treated her like a normal fucking human being. Unpopular opinion I know but as a sexual assault survivor this is literally a hill I will die on.)
Jasmine
I’ve actually never watched Aladdin all the way through, so unfortunately I can’t give a full analysis of Jasmine’s conflicts...but I have seen that gif of her saying “I am not a prize to be won” and that just screams “I’ve suffered a lifetime of female objectification and gender inequality despite my social status, and not even in the highest position of authority possible am I allowed to have a voice” and idk about you but that is really fucked up man
Ariel
PTSD from being manipulated by Ursula to give up her voice and nearly losing everything (both her previous life in the ocean and the promise of a new life on land with her love interest) because of it
Near-death experience from *vague hand gesture to whatever the fuck that was at the end of the movie*
Inevitable depression from abandoning the only home she’s ever known (the ocean) and leaving her friends and family behind
She’ll probably also need some form of behavioral therapy to help her adjust to her new home on land, whose culture is still extremely foreign to her — and maybe even additional therapy for social anxiety, given how her first 3 days of human interaction were so mortifyingly embarrassing that she’ll probably be laying wide awake at 3 AM and thinking “oh my god I can’t believe I looked Eric’s parents dead in the eyes and brushed my hair with a dinner fork” for the next 10 years.
Tiana
PTSD from literally being turned into a frog
Overworking herself to the point of near burnout, and being unable to fully live out her prime adult years because of said burnout
Constantly dealing with shitty customers, bosses, and other white-collared people disrespecting her and treating her as subhuman because of her career choice, which is unfortunately a common shared experience among restaurant workers and those who work hourly wages
Since this movie takes place in the United States presumably before the 1960’s, it’s probably safe to assume that Tiana also probably had to deal with segregation, Jim Crow laws, and other forms of racism off-screen on a daily basis, which would obviously take a toll on her mental well-being and further exacerbate the issues mentioned in #3
Grief from losing her dad, which has likely been repressed due to her workaholic tendencies denying her the ability to properly take the time to mourn
I don’t even know what to categorize the whole witch doctor shenanigans as, I just know that she and Naveen are both going to need some SERIOUS therapy after going through all that shit
Rapunzel
Being raised in an emotionally abusive and controlling environment for her entire life
Being completely isolated for 18 years with no social interaction whatsoever with anyone except her own abuser
Existential/identity crisis from discovering that she’s actually a princess, that her “mom” was actually the one who kidnapped her as a baby and tried to cut her hair, and that everything she knew about herself and the world she lived in was essentially a lie to keep her obedient to Gothel
Near-death experience (the drowning scene)
Internalized fear and mistrust in strangers — and quite possibly in people in general — due to Gothel’s lifelong warnings that people in the outside world would only want to take advantage of her
Watching the woman who raised her MERCILESSLY STAB THE ONLY OTHER PERSON SHE EVER KNEW AND LOVED IN THE GODDAMN CHEST
Watching the woman who raised her LITERALLY CRUMBLE TO DUST IN FRONT OF HER VERY EYES
WATCHING FLYNN, THE ONLY OTHER PERSON SHE EVER KNEW AND LOVED BESIDES HER GODDAMN ABUSER, FUCKING DIE RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER before she miraculously healed him
Because Flynn’s revival was such an uncanny revival that not even Rapunzel knew how she did it, she obviously thought he was gone for good...and since Gothel was gone also, there must’ve been at least a split second before she healed Flynn where, for the first time in her entire life, she was completely and utterly alone. That alone deserves to be a bullet point because holy shit
I’m not even going to get into Tangled: the Series man this list is getting too long as it is
Elsa
Losing her parents at a young age
Abandonment and isolation issues (mostly self-inflicted due to her own fear of hurting others, see #3)
Internalized fear and self-doubt of her powers — and, by extension, fear and self-doubt in herself
Guilt from nearly plunging Arendelle into an eternal winter
Guilt from almost losing her sister (twice!) due to her own direct actions
(Coinciding with #3) Guilt from isolating herself from her sister to protect her, only to nearly get her killed by the very thing she was trying to protect her from
Anxiety. Just lots and lots of general anxiety.
(Omitting Frozen 2 for Elsa because I haven’t seen it yet and this list is getting too long)
Anna
Also losing her parents at a young age
Abandonment and isolation issues, but hers are moreso due to Elsa “shutting her out” as a kid and having no one else her age in the castle to interact with
Lack of socialization in general for much of her childhood, as well as any social anxieties/lack of social knowledge and etiquette/etc. that would come with it
Abusive relationship with Hans (I know it was only one day, but holy fuck that was a trainwreck. What Hans did to Anna is a literal breeding ground for PTSD and trauma)
Coming to terms with the fact that the trolls fucking erased her memories of Elsa having ice powers and that Elsa isolated herself to protect her (and not, you know, because she hated her or something)
Leftover guilt from holding a grudge against Elsa for most of her childhood for shutting her out, because NO ONE BOTHERED TO TELL HER THAT IT WAS FOR HER OWN GOOD and she never knew why
Basically Anna and Elsa both need joint therapy or family counseling or something because holy shit their parents did NOT handle this situation properly AT ALL
(Also omitting Frozen 2 for Anna because I haven’t seen it and this list is also getting too long)
Moana
Surprisingly, Moana’s movie was relatively tame — in fact, because her tribe returned to voyaging and she is now exploring the seas/following her passion, these events were arguably beneficial to Moana’s mental health rather than detrimental. The only emotional baggage I can really imagine Moana having post-movie is leftover grief from her grandma dying and maybe the stress of having to put up with Maui’s shit
#shitpost#meta#disney characters#disney princess#long post#this has been in my drafts for literally a year so i may as well post it

#wildoctoberart "Misunderstood" for Inktober
Here is a selection of some of the most misunderstood animals in my opinion.
Pigs | In English many idioms such as "road hog" or "server hog" associate pigs to negative connotations of dirt, greed, or the monopolisation of resources. In "Animal Farm", the animals who take control of the farm are pigs. The French equivalent of the "Me Too" movement is called "Balance ton porc" meaning "Report your pig", "porc" being a French insult to describe a lustful or ill-mannered disgusting person. In fact, pigs are intelligent, emotional animals and some researches show that they able to solve challenging problems, they love to play, they display a wide range of emotions, and they have unique individual personalities.
Hyena | Their unpopularity is probably partly due to Disney's Lion King which portraits hyenas as stupid giggling cowards. Aristotle described the hyena as “exceedingly fond of putrefied flesh.” Hemingway wrote that they are “hermaphroditic self-eating devourer of the dead.”. Now we know that hyenas actually kill most of their prey, so they are not strictly scavengers. And regarding the "hermaphrodism" myth: spotted hyena females are often mistaken for males because they have a large clitoris — which is often called "pseudo-penis" in many articles... like they do not want to call it by its proper name — and labia that resembles testicles. Hyenas live in compact and unified matriarchal clans, and nurture their young investing more time in their cubs than most carnivores.
Sharks | They have an obvious big PR issue! I watched Jaws for the first time a few years ago and thought the movie has aged badly + what an insane shark-bashing that was... As a reminder, sharks kill 5 people per year, just remember that mosquitoes or dogs kill a lot more! 100 million sharks are killed by commercial and recreational fishing every year! Over 15 different species of sharks are endangered today (Whale Sharks, Angel Sharks, Scalloped Hammerheads, Daggernose Sharks...)
Rats | Musophobia is one of the most common specific phobias. European associations with the rat are generally negative. As a matter of fact, a group of rats is called a mischief and "Rats!" is used as a substitute of swear words in the English language. Rats are believed to have a responsibility in the 14th-century Black Death while fleas carried the plague. They are seen as vicious, dirty, parasitic animals that steal food and spread disease. Thankfully today their reputation starts to improve as science tells us more about this clever and social creature’s behaviour.
Wolf | The Big Bad Wolf is a recurring antagonist in fairy tales such as The Wolf and the Lamb, Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs, Peter and the Wolf. Wolves are said to be cruel and evil while they are mostly shy and discreet animals. Nowadays, wolves are still cattle farmer’s biggest enemy. I just had to search online for “loup + éleveur” and I ended up on a paper saying there’s been a wolf attack in Bourgogne in France and farmers request to kill the wolf. Wolves are a protected species in France and biologists say the more natural wild prey there will be, the less wolves will come and eat sheep.
Vulture | Vultures are depicted as bald, ugly, squabbling and filthy scavengers. But vultures have a vital role in our ecosystems: they clean up carcasses thus avoiding proliferation of bacteria and diseases and contamination of water sources. And if you think they’re ugly — and while painting this vulture I realised they are actually beautiful — research further and you’ll see there are many species of vultures, some very colourful and feathery!
Snake | The evil or untrustworthy serpent, responsible for the Fall of man in Genesis that god cursed into a snake to crawl on its belly and eat dust... Snakes have frightened humans for ages since they are venomous or constrictors. However, they play an important role in the food chain and ecosystem: both as prey for larger birds and as predators to smaller animals such as very fertile rodents. And snakes only bite if they feel threatened. In the United States, more than 40 percent of people bitten by snake intentionally put themselves in harm's way by attempting to capture wild snakes!
Bat | One of the first things I learnt about bats as a little girl is that the urban legend saying that bats will fly into one's hair couldn’t be more groundless : bats can navigate very well in the dark thanks to echolocation! Since the dawn of humanity people have been scared of bats due to their appearance and the fact that they are nocturnal. In many cultures bats were seen as bad omens and symbols of death. Witches are often portrayed in the company of bats, demons with bat-like wings and vampire are traditionally shown to be able to transform themselves into bats. In this list, bats are my personal favourite, I’m not sure why, maybe because I think they’re cute when they sleep upside down and it looks like they hug themselves to sleep... Also...they eat mosquitoes!
Pigeon | Sometimes described as “rats with wings” pigeons have a similar reputation as rodents: dirty, stupid... In Flemish the phrase "simpele duif" ("simple pigeon") is a pejorative term used to refer to dumb or naïve people. We also have that in French: if you call someone a “pigeon” it means they are someone who can easily be tricked. In fact researches show that pigeons are not dumb at all: they are successful at the “mirror test” which show consciousness of self. Some studies show that they even have an understanding of abstract notions like time and space.
I was thinking of other animals to illustrate such as raccoons, opossums, toads... Which animal would you add to that list? What is your favourite?

[So I got around to watching the movie, and I got a ton of ideas, but there was this one really funny one that I realized would never actually work in an ongoing thread. But it was too funny for me not to write out. Originally for Mon, then realized it could actually work with any Steven, so was just like “fuck it, just make a movie/kh AU”.]
“So what world are you guys from?”
Sora, Donald, and Goofy stared at him in silence. “What… ‘world’?”
“Yeah. I mean,” Steven shrugged with a slightly amused smile. “It’s pretty obvious you’re not from earth.”
“What?! How-?” Sora looked to Donald in worry, but the Duck could only shrug in bafflement. “But, we’re totally from here!” Sora insisted, and his friend gave a “Yeah!” in agreement. “What makes you think we’re not?”
Both Steven and Connie’s brows raised at the argument, and they glanced at each other before looking back at the newcomers. They could go for the really obvious reasons, but- “Well for one thing,” Steven pointed to the large, colorful, swirling, star keyblade in his hand. “No one on earth would have a weapon like that.”
Sora examined his keyblade, rubbing his other hand through his hair. “O-oh, that obvious, huh? Well, uh, we’re from...”
Donald was shaking his head, waving his wings back and forth to signal him not to say anything, but Sora was finding himself drawing a blank on a good cover story.
“We’yer from Homeworld!” Goofy declared proudly.
“Oh yeah!” Sora grinned, remembering the settlement they had just visited. “We’re from Homeworld! We’re with those guys from Homeworld 2.0!”
This time, Steven and Connie’s eyes went wide too. But this time when they looked at each other, Connie snorted, and had to cover her mouth to try to stifle her giggles. Although her grin and shaking shoulders was still a bit of a giveaway. Steven snorted too, but he managed to keep his giggles in check. For now.
“Soooo, you’re from Homeworld, huh?” He asked instead, crossing his arms with a grin that was a little too smug. “What’re your names?”
Sora cocked his head with a raised brow. “We already told you: it’s Sora, Donald, and Goofy.”
“Really?” He rubbed at his chin, pretending like he was mulling it over. “But those don’t sound like Gem names...”
“Gem… names?”
“Sora!” Goofy whispered from behind his hand. “I think he’s talkin’ about those guys at the settlement!”
“Oh yeah!” He whispered back. “They did have kinda funny names, didn’t they?” He didn’t muse for long, though, straightening up. “Well, that’s cuz we’re in disguise!” He ‘explained’. “You know, gotta blend in with the locals and all! H-had you going, didn’t I?” He finger-gunned, and laughed a little nervously. “Our real names are… um...” He looked quickly between Donald and Goofy in a silent plea for help. What on earth was supposed to be a “Gem name”?
And then it hit him. Of course! Gems!
“I’m Blazing!” He declared. He gestured to Donald and Goofy in turn. “And that’s Blizzard, and that’s Lightning!”
Steven and Connie spluttered, and this time Connie had to bite her knuckles to keep from laughing out loud.
“Sora,” Goofy whispered again. “I don’t think that’s the kind of “gems” they’re talkin’ about.”
“Well they’re the only kind of “gems” I could think of!” He hissed back.
“So where’re your gems?” Steven asked.
“In here,” Sora pat one of his lower pants pockets without thinking.
This time Steven cracked, and he couldn’t get his snickering back under control, so Connie cleared her throat and managed to continue. “Well, Blazing, I’m really impressed that you managed to “blend in””- she airquoted and everything, “with the locals so well! But, why’d you decide to be boys?”
The trio stared at them blankly for a second time. “Why did we… decide”?”
“Yeah! I mean,” she pretended to go into thought. “I thought all gems were girls.”
This time, it was the trio’s turn to get wide-eyed. They all had to think back, going through the brief encounters they’d had with all the “Gems” back at Homeworld 2.0. Now that they thought of it, they had noticed their were a lot of girls around. But they didn’t think that meant there weren’t any guys!
And then Sora remembered one particular encounter.
“Hey wait!” He protested, pointing to Steven. “You’re a boy!”
“Yes,” he said easily. “But I’m an exception.”
“Why do you get to be an exception? Maybe we’re exceptions too.”
“That’s not how it works.”
“He,” Connie countered. “Is half human. His mother was a Gem, and his father was a human, thus, he’s a boy. But you’re from Homeworld, so that’s not possible for you.”
Ah dang, she had a point. Thankfully, however, they had encountered something like this before, and Sora was able to make a quick cover.
“We… well, it’s easier to fool people!” He said quickly. “We had to go to this war camp, but they don’t allow girls. So we had to disguise ourselves as boys. So we just stuck with it.”
“They weren’t… allowed?” Connie clarified, though one brow was raised, slightly squinting in something akin to disgust.
“From what,” Steven whispered to her. “70 years ago?”
“Maybe they are Gems,” Connie whispered back slightly sarcastically. “No one nowadays would use an excuse like that.”
“Ok guys,” Steven straightened up, one hand on his hip and the other on his chin as he pretended to think it over again. “I’m almost convinced, but we have to be 100% sure...” he drawled, and then shrugged, with the slyest grin he could muster. “So go ahead and fuse.”
“Fuse?”
“Yeah. You know.” he shrugged easily, though Connie was grinning eagerly beside him. “Fuse. Combine your powers turn into one person. All Gems do it.”
“Oh!” Sora brightened instantly. “That’s easy! Ready guys?”
“Ready!”
The two earthlings blinked, a little surprised at how quickly the three were on board with this, but when Donald and Goofy looked at each other, they seemed to have second thoughts.
“Wait, Sora-”
“GIVE ME STRENGTH!”
His voice echoed through the trees, stirring a sense of awe and power from the invocation. But besides his power pose, nothing changed, and Sora peeked open one eye, and then the other, as he looked down at himself, and then his friends in confusion. “Wait, why didn’t it work? I’m at full power.”
“So- I-I mean, Blazing!” Goofy pointed out. “You’re not wearing the outfit the good fairies gave you any more.”
“Oh!” He looked back down at his black, and red plaid outfit, patting it with his free hand. “Right, I forgot.” He looked at the pair, embarrassed. “Sorry. I need to be wearing my other pants.”
Steven and Connie’s stunned faces seemed frozen in time for a minute, before they turned to each other. But this time, when they made eye contact, they cracked, and burst into laughter.
“Hey!” Steven called out. “Hey, Connie, wanna fuse? Oh wait!” He clapped his hand to his cheek. “Hold on, I have to change into my other pants!”
“Oh!” She picked up after he tumbled back into laughter. “Is that where you left your Gem!?”
The two became hysterical, clutching their guts and clapping their knees as the newcomers looked on.
“Ya know,” Goofy mused. “I don’t think they believe us.”
Donald just hung his head with a long suffering quack.
It took a moment for the teens to compose themselves. Steven came up first, wiping at his eyes and taking a deep breath to get his air back.
“Hoo! Oh boy.” He was still smiling at the newcomers. “Look, if you don’t want to tell us, that’s fine, but just be honest about it. We’re all trying to be friends here, aren’t we?”
Sora looked back to Donald. The Duck’s brow was pinched, in the conundrum of following the “rules”, and in a spot where the “rules” didn’t seem to apply. Sora just sighed as he looked back to them.
“It’s not that we don’t want to,” he finally confessed. “It’s just that we can’t.”
Donald finally spoke up, almost in an imploring manner. “People aren’t supposed to know about other worlds.”
Connie shrugged, smiling with understanding. “Well, most people on earth still don’t know about other worlds.”
“But you don’t have to worry about that here,” Steven assured, arms out in invitation. “Everyone in Beach city knows all about the Gems. Hearing about another world won’t phase anyone.”
The intergalactic travelers looked between each other in some silent signal for confirmation, before finally nodding with a smile.
“Alright then,” Sora finally agreed. “Let’s jut focus on getting these Heartless out of here.”
“Now that’s something I can get behind,” Steven agreed.
“But tell the truth,” Sora put his hands on his hips. “You knew from the beginning, didn’t you?”
“Oh yeah,” he said smugly without missing a beat. “It was pretty obvious.”
“But this way was way more fun,” Connie added, equally sly. “I look forward to working with you, Blazing.”
Sora blinked, Donald and Goofy snickering behind their wings and hands respectively. He huffed, crossing his arms with an embarrassed flush.

Lore Episode 5: Under Construction (Transcript) - 4th May 2015
tw: nothing I can think of! This one’s a nice one (but ask if you think anything should be tagged)

On the south-west corner of Iceland, just to the south of the city of Reykjavik, is a small peninsula that juts out into the cold waters of the north Atlantic. It’s known as the Álftanes peninsula, and although few people live there, the local government recently decided to connect this small stretch of land to the town of Garðabær, a suburb of Reykjavik. Last year, however, construction on the new road was brought to a halt. Standing in their way was a massive rock, 12ft high and weighing an estimated 70 tons. According to highway department employee Petur Matthiasson, the rock has presented an unusual challenge to his department’s construction project. Now, you have to understand something about Iceland. Much of the region is a vast expanse of sparse grass and large volcanic rock formations. The ground literally boils with hot water at springs and geysers, and the sky seems to be eternally grey and cloudy. So, it’s important to recognise that there are hundreds, maybe thousands of these volcanic stones along the construction route. So, what could possibly be so important about this one, particular stone? Why would the highway department go to such lengths, even covering the expense of hiring a crane, just to move the stone to a safer location? The stone, they say, is inhabited. It is, as it has been for many long centuries, home to the Huldufólk- the “hidden people”. They are the size and shape of humans and live in much the same way that we do, except, of course, they’re invisible. I’m Aaron Mahnke, and this is Lore.
In the late 1930s, another road construction project in the same area of Iceland was planned to cut straight through a hill known as Alfholl. From the beginning though, the project was met with challenges. First, the money for the project simply ran out, and when funding resumed a decade later, construction encountered even more problems. The machines that were used to cut through the hill started to break at an unusual rate. Tools were damaged and lost. In the end, the road was simply built around the hill to avoid the digging altogether. When the road was due for updating in the 1980s, the notion of demolishing the hill was, again, brought up, and this time more machinery was brought in to drill through the actual hill. After the first drill broke, another was brought in, but it too stopped working. After that the workers themselves even refused to bring any of their own tools near the hill out of fear that they would be lost or broken by the Huldufólk who guard the place. Iceland is a culture that is teaming with references to this invisible society of human-like creatures. In a recent survey, more than half the people in the country (54%, in fact) said that they believed in the existence of these creatures. But who are the Huldufólk?
According to one Icelandic folk tale, the hidden people can be traced back to Adam and Eve. According to the legend, Eve had a number of children who she hid from God. But God, being omniscient and aware of everything that happens, found them anyway. In the story, God declared that what man hides from God, God will hide from man. As a result, these children of Adam and Eve vanished from sight and have lived alongside humans ever since, hidden from our eyes. Wherever they came from, Iceland is apparently filled with them. They are described as being the same size as humans, usually clad in 19th century Icelandic clothing, which is often described as being green and simple. The people of Iceland have another term for these creatures, though. They don’t use it as often as Huldufólk, because they feel it’s not as respectful to the hidden people, but it’s a word we all know, and its history and meaning run very deep. They call them… elves.
When we think of elves, most of us imagine the little people who help Santa Claus in his workshop at the North Pole. We picture tiny people with pointed ears who wear tall, pointed hats. But that vision of elves is actually new, dating back only to Victorian Era fairy tales, when French stories of fairies were mixed and confused with more ancient tales of elves from the Celtic, Germanic and Scandinavian peoples. The oldest records of something resembling elves are from Anglo-Saxon England and medieval Iceland, though there are some records that exist from Germany as well, and the characteristics are consistent across the continents. Elves were described as human-like; that they were once divine creatures of some unknown origin, and that they were very, very dangerous. In Norse Mythology elves were mainly thought of as females who lived in the hills and mounds of stone. The Swedish elves were said to be beautiful girls who lived in the forest with their king, and Scandinavian folklore describes them as fair-haired, dressed in white, and dangerous when offended. In fact, in many folk tales elves were given the role of the disease spirits. An elf could inflict horrible skin rashes on the one who offended them, and the term was called an “elven blow”. The only way to calm and satisfy them was to actually visit their homes, often a large pile of stones or a large stone in the woods, and leave them an offering of food. Elves, you see, were dangerous.
At first, elves were simply thought of as mischievous pranksters. Anything odd that happened during a person’s day could be blamed on elves. A tangle in a person’s hair was called an elf-lock, and birth marks were referred to as elf-marks. Elves had a darker side, however. Much like their cultural counterparts in other countries such as hobs, leprechauns, hob-goblins and trolls, elves were known to be highly dangerous. A deeply common thread through all cultures is how easy it is to offend them, and how terrible the consequences might be if that happened. One such tale was that of the “changeling”. According to legend, elves would invade the home of new parents and swap out their infant child for a small elf. Now, while the human baby would be wonderfully cared for back in the home of the elves, the surrogate that was left behind – the “changeling”, it was called – would be fussy and unhappy. In Iceland, there are tales of Huldufólk who kidnapped adults, who are then taken back to the hills to work for the hidden people. In their place, the Huldufólkleave emotionless, hollow copies of the ones they take. It was said that if someone you knew underwent a severe personality change, becoming depressed or listless, it was because they had been replaced by the elves. It was also believed that elves could enter the dreams of a sleeping person and cause nightmares to happen. In fact, the German word for nightmare is alpdrücken, which literally means “elf pressure”. You see, if it was horrible, unexplainable or tragic, there was always one easy explanation that dominated medieval minds: blame it on the elves.
But what if these were more than just folktales? If so, that might explain the incredibly similar stories that exist among the native tribes of the American north-east. In 2011, a non-profit housing developer in the United States began the final stages of their plan to build a $19 million, 120 unit construction project known as “The Villages”. Everything about it looked promising. It would generate roughly $1.5 million in tax revenue for the town of Montville, Connecticut, it would create over 100 construction-related jobs, and once completed, would actually provide affordable housing for scores of local families. Now, because the “Villages” project was a non-profit endeavour, the development company applied for federal funding to offset their costs. As a requirement for the funding process, the developer was required to complete an archaeological survey of the 12.2 acre parcel of land, and that’s when they hit a snag.
The proposed building site, it turns out, encroached on Mohican tribe property. The Mohican people were an offshoot of the Pequot tribe, originating in 17thcentury Connecticut. They had deep routes in the area, and naturally parts of their historic past are still present today. Among the sensitive archaeological sites that the Mohican tribe claimed were at risk were Fort Shantok, Moshup’s Rock, and Mohican Hill. None of those historic sites are unusual in any way, but when the tribal historic preservation officer for the Mohicans presented their case to the Federal Housing and Urban Development Department, there was one complaint that stood out among the others. Creatures, they claimed, lived inside Mohican Hill. The construction project threatened their lives, and unless it was stopped, the “little people”, as they called them, would disappear, leaving the tribe unprotected from outsiders. The tribe has long believed in the existence of creatures who they call Makiawisug - the “little people”. The stone piles on top of Mohican Hill were said to have been built by them long ago, and served as protection from the outside world. These Makiawisug have remained inside the hill ever since, guarding the stones and protecting the tribe. These were powerful creatures that could protect and preserve the tribe, but if ignored or treated poorly, could also bring great harm and chaos, and so naturally the Mohican people became very good at managing their relationship with them.
One of the most prominent Mohican tribe members of the last century was a woman named Gladys Tantaquidgeon, who passed away in 2005 at the age of 106. She was a 10th generation descendant of the Mohican chief Uncas, a prominent colonial era leader, and was also a tribal medicine woman. Her role included maintaining her tribe’s knowledge of the Makiawisug, and how to interact with them. According to Tantaquidgeon, there were even four non-negotiable laws for dealing with the “little people”. First, serve and protect their leader and matriarchal deity, Granny Squannit. Second, never speak to them in the summer months, when they’re the most active. Third, never stare directly at one, or else the creature would become invisible and steal your belongings. And finally, leave them offerings from time to time. And so, to this day, the Mohican tribe continues to make offerings to these creatures and hopes that they will continue their role as protectors and guardians of the tribe. It is traditional to leave them an offering of cornmeal and berries, and sometimes even meat. Sound familiar?
The vast majority of people in the world don’t really believe in the existence of elves or hidden people living in the bones of the earth. One explanation as to why Iceland is different, though, actually has to do with the Vikings. You see, when they conquered a city, the Vikings had real life enemies to focus their hatred on. When they settled Iceland, however, no one else was there to be defeated. Perhaps the Huldufólk provided the excuse that the Vikings needed to feel like conquerors in a land with no native inhabitants. Other scholars believe that elves represent our connection to the earth of old. They are sort of a primitive environmentalism, a reminder of the way life used to be before urban sprawl and manufacturing left its mark on our world. Whatever the reason, our ancestors firmly believed in these other-worldly beings who could bless or curse them at will. Elves served as an excuse for the unexplained; as solid ground when nothing else seemed to make sense. We might laugh it off from our modern point of view today, but centuries ago, elves literally gave people an opportunity to hope, or a reason to be afraid.
And remember Petur Matthiasson, the highway department employee in Reykjavik, Iceland? He’s made it very clear to journalists that he doesn’t believe in elves, but that doesn’t stop him from telling an odd story to those who ask. Apparently, his family came from the northern side of Iceland long ago. There, in the wild north country, the family claimed to have had a protective elf who brought good fortune to them. When they moved south, the family elf remained behind. Petur recalled going on a camping trip in the north some years ago. Before he left, his father asked him, while he was there, to go and pay his respects to the elf and to thank her for the help she had given his family. Not being one to believe in the old stories, Petur claims he forgot. The next day, however, despite an overcast sky and wet drizzle, he woke up sore and blistered by what he described as something like a sunburn. In fact, he could barely stand. Did Petur experience some random, mysterious dermatological episode, or was he the victim of an elven blow from an angry family patron. Like his ancestors, the easiest explanation might just be the most otherworldly.

Notes
1. This theory about Vikings needing victims seems a bit off, given that there is plenty of evidence for peaceful interactions between the Vikings and other groups. Also, the first settlers were not “Vikings” as such, who were largely displaced wonderers, but were in fact settled men of power in Norway most likely. Their motivation isn’t known, but most likely had more to do with a desire for more power and independent control, and less to do with conquering.

7x04 Anons
I have a ton of asks so I’ll answer a few under the cut. A lot of them deal with negativity over the ep and season so be warned and don’t click if you don’t want to read that.
Anonymous said:Liza, have you watched tonight's episode? What did you think of the Rumbelle send off? And of Alice being Roger's daughter?
I had zero emotional reaction to Rumbelle’s story in this episode. None. It’s been too toxic and gross and I have never really cared about it so it didn’t make me feel anything at all. I was curious what they were going to do. Now I know.
As far as Alice being WishHook’s daughter. Eh. So they take the only interesting character and now she’s a fake Wish person too? I just can’t with this nonsense. I’m having a lot of problems with WishHook, so I’m not thrilled she’s tied to his story.
Colin is still hot and an awesome human being and a terrific actor, but the plot... it’s a no for me.
Anonymous said:Sometimes I think Adam and Eddy believe they are the most clever people to ever write, and that everyone else are simple minded peasants. Like that one post-7x04 interview where the interviewer asked if Alice is wish Hook's daughter. "You're very perceptive." Uh, no, Adam and Eddy. You just have all the subtlety of a freight train. You had Alice and Rogers play chess. Wish Hook and his daughter played chess. It's obvious. Don't talk to people like they're stupid for figuring the obvious out.
This show has always been pretty obvious about some things, but they used to pull off some twists. I remember a time when fan speculation was way more wrong than it is right.
However, season 7 is just really obvious in terms of some of the “big twists.” Take Alice being the LGBT character, the entire fandom speculated that from the first second she appeared in shooting spoilers based on stereotypes. I have been hoping it’s not her because of those stereotypes, but nope! They had no surprises up their sleeve with it. Then most people immediately assumed she was Roger’s daughter the second we found out he had one... and apparently no twist there either.
I guess the days of the entire fandom being shocked by finding out Hook is the Dark One and Dark Swan did everything for Hook... are over.
Of course we should have known this reboot lost all subtlety in the second episode when everyone and their mother kept asking Henry if he was in love with the random woman he just met.
Anonymous said:I know the promo pics didn't spell anything good for Belle, but I'm still surprised that they actually had her die. I kept thinking that there would be some twist to it.
As I was just saying... no twists, no turns. It’s exactly as everyone predicted.
Anonymous said:I didn't watch the ep, but shit Henry and ivy have so much more chemistry than the other girl. Cinderella I think lol damn talk about epic romance also I saw comments that also agree with the Henry and ivy
If you haven’t watched how do you know they have more chemistry? Seriously, that’s kind of ridiculous. What are you basing that on?
Anonymous said:ouat is a weird show, it requires you to pay really pay attention but not to close of attention or you will notice all the plot holes
100% accurate. This reboot is creating so many more plot holes with all the magic mcguffins that are suddenly in play. I guess you either have to accept it and go along for the ride, or recognize it for what it is.
Anonymous said:hey liza, who are your favourite characters from the new cast? some of them don’t really impress me but i quite like ivy and tilly.
Both of those characters have some interesting aspects to them. It may have a lot to do with the performers. I haven’t been impressed with Gabriel, Dania or Mekia’s choices so far, but Adelaide and Rose have interesting screen presence.
Anonymous said:Drizella really is a Mean Girls version of Regina. I'm between finding her general attitude annoying and finding her somewhat sympathetic considering she has to deal with Tremaine all day.
You mean Regina when she was a girl and under Cora’s thumb? I could see that comparison. Lets hope Drizella doesn’t follow in Regina’s footsteps and become the mass murdering rapist in town.
Anonymous said:Did Rumbelle build the house in Storybrooke?
Um... I’m not sure I understand this question. In the show I believe that Up-inspired cabin where they were living isolated from everything and everyone else (do people really find that a happy ending?) was in the edge of realms.
Anonymous said:I'm almost mad that we got to see more of Belle and Rumple's story than we did of Captain Swan. We all know they are living their happy ending but it would still be wonderful to see a little clip of Emma sitting on the beach with their daughter waiting for Killian to show up and join their picnic. Just some good ole domestic Captain Swan on scene would make me so happy. *sigh*
I have a number of anons like this, and just NOPE.
First, we did not see more of Rumbelle than CS on this show. Rumbelle was a backburner story that was most often characterized as a cautionary tale of abuse and manipulation and the pair were mostly apart and had very little focus through the run of the series.
The showrunners decided that going forward they needed viewers to feel good about Belle and RB so after making them a gross, toxic mess for seasons now (it was just last year that Rumple was fucking the Evil Queen while Belle ran and hid for her life as he stalked and threatened her) they gave fans a bunch of twee scenes of her growing old (a life she lived isolated from everyone but two people) and dying in order to get rid of her and give Rumple motivation for this idiotic S7.
You’re jealous of that? Seriously? Fuck no.
Also you need to understand that 7.02 and 7.04 were very different episodes. 7.02 was still really Henry's story and a moment in time where he called for help and got to see his parents for a few minutes and we all found out that Emma and Hook are doing great and gonna have a baby and living a blissfully happy life together. It was just a check in where it was confirmed for us that Operation Happy Beginning has been a success and things are amazing. Also it spun off WishHook and completely separated the plot of S7 away from CS. 7.04 was 100% Rumple plot and his story. It explained why he's there and what is motivating him in Hyperion Heights. Very different. For 7.02, CS were not the focus because they didn’t need to be. Nothing in S7 requires knowing exactly what is going to happen to them minute by minute. I'll take less screen time and my OTP being completely disentangled from this mess any day of the week.
Anonymous said:Lol my jealousy of Rumbelle having more focus than CS has dropped to 0%, that episode was eh. CS is expecting a baby, and Belle is dead after spending her life trying to fix rumple's. Nice.
Yep. Look, I’m happy for any fans of Rumple or Belle that are happy about this episode and found peace in Belle’s life, but the writers did too much damage to this pairing over the years for me to care about it at all.
Anonymous said:While I can't stand rumbelle I feel for the shippers. They did get some happy scenes but their ship is going to spend the rest of the season apart and in pain until the half alive dies.
Yeah... I would not like that, I don’t think. It’s just kind of creepy and icky and ew-ey. However, to each her own.
Anonymous said:Agreed with that anon, there some good moments, but this was definitely not even close to one of the best episodes of the series. I have to respectfully disagree with Colin on this one. (Actually season 7 in its entirety lol)
Oh dear sweet Colin. Just trying to do his job. So many cast and crew and media have shot their hyperbolic wad with this episode. Calling it the best EVER!!!!! What will they say for the rest of the season? “This is the second best episode EVER!!!!!” Or will they keep one upping every time they have to promote an ep?
No one with an economic interest in S7 can be trusted when talking about the quality of this season (and I include Mitovich and NA in that.)
Anonymous said:I didn't watch the episode but I'm curious: are we supposed to believe that when Belle dies Emma and Killian are old too or was there some timeline glitch and Emma and Killian are still young in Storybrooke at the time of HH events?
Who knows. Belle and Rumple were off living at the Edge of Realms for the last years of her life. Rumple said something about time standing still there except for Belle??? I think. (my mind kept wandering duiring those scenes becuse they were so boring) Then after she died he opened a portal thingy to go to the time and place where the Guardian (the deux ex machina that is going to cure him of the Dark One curse) lives and Rumple was then transported to the newEF (that looks exactly like the old, I mean couldn’t they have given this new storybook’s fairy tale land some stylistic differences???) on the night of Cinderella’s Ball and we see Henry drive by on his motorcycle.
So yes, I think some of the flashforwards could have been from far in the future, and some could have been not all that distant because they were in a weird realm with weird time mechanics.
However, I think Rumple and Belle left Storybrooke well before Henry did (they talk about it at Gideon’s first birthday and Henry still would have been about 14 at that time) so by the time this Hyperion Heights stuff is happening they would have been off in Fairy Tale land “traveling?” (ie living their lives in dusty libraries searching books for a way to cure Rumple.)
It hurts ones head to try to sort it all out.
Anonymous said:After watching this episode, all I think is how sad it is how far this show gone from greatness. Going back 3 years, I would’ve never imagined ouat would be like this now. Sorry for being dramatic, it’s all just so jarring.
I think one of the most unfortunate things about this is that I really think OUAT could have been a valuable and viable franchise for years to come. However, they tried to reboot it too soon. As I’ve said since last spring, I think it would have been much better to let it rest a year or two and then come back with 10-13 episode event series for ABC.
However, this experiment will probably negate any opportunity for that.
Anonymous said:I think it's a little sad that in real time, Belle died like 5-10 years after the s6 finale. I know it was longer for her but to everyone else that knew her, it'd be like she died young.
Yep. I’m not sure if in Hyperion Heights or Storybrooke in 2017 if Belle is dead, dead, or still living out her life at the edge of realms or wherever and Rumple traveled back in time???
I don’t know.
Anonymous said:Do you think killing Belle off is going to decrease the ratings more?
Nope. If ratings do decrease, I don’t think that will have been a factor.
Anonymous said:They lost viewers even with the episode they promoted the most wow
They did and yes, other than the premiere, this has been the most promoted episode. As I’ve said since the premiere, ep 5 ratings should be the most telling. I’m guessing that will be the baseline for the rest of the half season. At that point anyone in the audience who was just curious if they would preserve our favorites happy endings from the first 6 season will know and there won’t be a bump from that. We’ll see.

This is going to be a long post about something I feel incredibly strongly about, what a surprise I know, not like I make these huge rants/posts frequently or anything. (on other social medias, which I am going to start putting them on all of my pages/starting a whole new page for) So saddle up and read it, unfollow me if you can't respect my views on subjects or the views/feelings of other people, or just simply keep scrolling past if you have no interest in the topic at hand which is the LGBT community. This is MY personal Facebook page, and I have the right to broadcast my thoughts, especially since Facebook's 'post' section conveniently says "what's on your mind?" and I plan to use that to the fullest. I have said this year will be a totally different year for me as a person, and I meant it. I am going to keep expressing my feelings, my views, and my thoughts on things, even if they do not match yours or if they make you upset with me for feeling the way I do. -If you have anything disrespectful to reply in the comments, either keep it to yourselves, or I will remove them the best I can from this post as this is a post for acceptance and has a ZERO hate policy that will be enforced. -If you chose to direct message me hate mail, I will read it, have a laugh with my friends/family, and probably just reply with the fact that you should be more open-minded about the people in this world that you live in, since a lot of you probably have come into contact with tons of LGBT peoples and probably even have shaken their "sinful" hands. (Possible Trigger Warning)~~I know I have a lot of LGBT friends, some that have come out to their peers and others that still have yet to openly broadcast their personal emotions, and this entire post with the linked song is for all of you. I know a lot of you struggle with, or have struggled with opening up and coming out as who you are to your fellow co-workers, friends, and family. I know it must be harder than I can imagine. Because not everyone is accepting and it's a truly terrifying thing to deal with, constant thoughts of if they will be ok with it, if they will accept you, if they will shun you for feeling the way you do. I haven't exactly dealt with it first hand too much, but I know about all the difficulties because many of my friends and family have told me stories from their lives, the battles they have fought through, and the things they have overcome. I love all my friends and family unconditionally, no matter their gender, sexuality or anything else. And I will always support anyone who doesn't feel right in their own skin for whatever reasons. I will never judge a single person for who they feel they are or aren't. I will try my absolute best to make people feel like they deserve; accepted and understood. I will always be right here for anyone who ever needs someone to speak to and doesn't know who to turn to, even if it isn't regarding sexuality and such, but anything they feel the need talk about to someone. From a personal viewpoint, and some thing I DO have experience dealing with I'd like to add that yes it is a bit difficult to get used to using the proper pro-nouns for Transgender peoples, but it is not at all impossible to comprehend. Like my brother Jack for example, I met him as a woman, I was so used to calling him my sister for many many years, but one day he told me that he would much rather be identified as him, he, etc, it was a little difficult as first referring to him that way, and a lot of times I would mis-gender him which I knew hurt him a lot as it does tons of transgender people everyday, and a very short time later I had been referring to him as he wished. He does change his name sometimes, which is completely understandable, he has to find a name that he is comfortable with, a name that fits him and that he likes hearing when people talk to him, and even to this day that part is a bit hard and I still call him by previous names he had tried using. But a few other F2M friends I have (since I don't believe I have a single M2F friend), have only changed their feminine name to a masculine name that they admire, and that isn't as difficult to accept or keep up with. On the other hand, my L-G-B friends and family, since they day that they opened up to me and fully told me that they are attracted to the same gender or to all genders, that has been the easiest thing to accept about them. Because I 100% understand and can comprehend the fact they are more drawn to certain genders than to others. Maybe it's just the person I am with the mindset I have, but it was so easy to accept that part of them, it was as easy as accepting the fact they liked certain music artists or preferred Chocolate ice cream to vanilla ice cream. I myself have tested the waters with sexuality, and I cannot say that it wasn't difficult or scary in the slightest. Because it really was. I was worried that someone I was close to would not want me to be their friend anymore, or not want to associate with me because I was trying to grow and figure myself out. I was scared my family wouldn't accept the person I was, or the fact I was attempting to find out who I was. And in that time I had tons of friends supporting me for just trying to be myself, and trying to figure things out, which was the absolute most amazing thing I could have ever asked for, since they accepted I was a young caterpillar trying to figure out exactly what I needed to become a butterfly. I can never thank anyone enough who was there in the early years when I was a weird, pimpled faced, fried hair, teen, and is here now, supporting me for who I am and who I am becoming. Not many people have that kind of support and love in their lives from friends or even family, and I was incredibly lucky to have it. I tried my options, I dated males and females, I had very intense feelings for each and every one of them, I was romantically involved with both genders on so many different levels, I had love with not just one but both genders, I put a lot into what I was trying to figure out about myself. I may not question who I am, or how I feel about these things anymore, because I have learned a lot from my experiences and I believe I know exactly who I am. People ask me all the time how I identify with certain things, certain aspects, and I try to just keep it as simple as I can. As this post isn't about just MY experiences and MY sexuality, I will be open with it in the hopes it does help someone out there struggling; I myself believe I am Pansexual because I can emotionally connect with any gender, and I can find any gender attractive in their own ways, I can whole-heartedly fall very much in love with anyone no matter their gender or their personal "bits". Granted, I disbelieve that I could ever be as sexually intimate with a woman as I can a man, I have attempted it, but I was unable to get down and dirty when the time came, which is why I am personally sexually attracted to men the most. But that doesn't mean I can't love a woman with the same exact level of love I have for a man, it just means I can really only have sexual relations with men. But what people have to understand that a lot of people do not, is our sexuality is NOT a choice. People do not wake up in the middle of the night and get hit by the Gay Fairies wand, get sprinkled with gay dust and magically turn gay/bisexual like a Cinderella story; "When the clock struck midnight, the magic spell would wear off!" it is a true part of that person. It is their life. It is how they feel. And no one should ever tell them that it's anything less than who they are. No one should try an convince them that they just haven't met the right guy/girl yet to prove they are straight. No one should ever bring someone down about their own person feelings, because someone who is gay isn't going to constantly bombard you with the same thing, they aren't going to tell you that you just haven't been with the right person of the same gender. They aren't going to tell you that you're wrong for liking/loving the people that you do. Also, just because someone is L-G-B does NOT by any means make them more inclined to have sexual feelings towards you. L-G-B people still have their preferences on individuals, and they are not going to magically start hitting on you or trying to sleep with you, and a lot of straight people have that fear of "Omg, so-and-so just came out as gay, are they going to hit on me? are things going to be weird now? What about all our talks about the opposite gender? what if I say something and they get uncomfortable? What about all the secrets I've told them? Are they going to tell their friends? Are they going to look at me differently? How do I look at them now?" personally I believe people need to get over that. If they had sexual/emotional feelings towards you, they would have already let you know, just as any other human would, sexuality does not change feelings in a moments time, and it doesn't magically make you a target for their emotions. And if you're worried about hurting one of your LGBT friends, talk to them about it. Don't alienate them from your conversations just because they came out to you. Keep them on the same level you always have, because if you treat them differently that is going to make them feel unworthy of your friendship just because they are different than you and it's going to hurt them. Ask them about how they would feel if you brought certain things up. Ask them what topics are not good things to talk about with/around them. Just make them feel welcomed, and accepted like you would any other person you speak to. Let them know that you are there for them, and you support them at all costs. -If you cannot accept them the way they are and how they feel, then please do them a favor and step out of their lives, do not hurt them with unkind words about how you do not agree with them or how your religion does not accept them so you can't either, do not use the wrong pro-nouns for them when they have said they would rather be identified as something else, just step away and explain to them that you are not an open-minded person that they need and that you will only bring them down. I know that sounds harsh but it is the utmost truth. Don't lead them on into believing you are their friend, when you feel so strongly against them because that is such a shitty thing to do, not to mention how it's going to make them feel when they find out you lied to them and gave them false hope. Coming out is hard enough as it is, it's a struggle that you won't understand unless you have went through it yourself or have raised a sword and shield and fought alongside someone who was going through it. I understand a lot of people aren't ok with a man being with another man, or a woman with another woman, or a man being a woman, or a woman being a man, or two women being with one man, or any of the possibilities that are out there, and I understand that sometimes it's due to religious beliefs, and sometimes it's just due to personal disgust. But please stop hurting people and bringing them down just because you cannot handle that they are different than you. This world needs people to band together and love and fight through things together, not to be separated and fight each other over things that shouldn't be such an issue. Everyone is allowed to be human, everyone has the given right to love whomever they fall in love with, and yes everyone has the right to express their personal beliefs, but it shouldn't tear someone else down and make them feel like they're lesser or unworthy of the same things that others are, because they are humans just as much and deserve respect and support as others. I know it is so easy to say "Just tell everyone and get it over with" when someone comes to you with things like this, but for them it is never that easy, and you should understand and respect that. Help them through it, be there for them when they need you. If you're straight, or non-transgender, no one has ever gotten mad at you for you telling them that you're straight or you feel comfortable being the gender you were born with, keep that in mind, no one has kicked you out or belittled you when you have said you aren't gay, imagine how terrifying it is for them when they even think about telling the world how they feel. Understand that it isn't as easy as saying "Hey everyone, I'm gay!" or "Hey guys, I feel as though I would like to be classified as another gender because I don't feel like I am truly the gender I was born!" There are constant thoughts and questions going through their heads like "Am I SURE about this?" "What if my family kicks me out?" "What if I lose all my friends?" "I mean I really liked being with George, but everything with Sally was so much different" "I tried having sex with a girl but it just didn't feel the same emotionally as it did with a guy" "What if no one understands me" "What if I lose everything?" "What if I don't ALWAYS feel this way?" "What if it is just a phase and I grow out of it? How would I explain that too?" and that in itself is a hard battle to overcome. I have seen some of the difficulties coming out, and I have seen some of the best outcomes. Getting kicked out for being different is a very real thing, just like someone getting kicked out of a club or a group for having different views. So many things to take into account when someone actually opens up about themselves on this kind of level, never ever forget that and never belittle someone for being themselves. With all of that being said, this post is just to show you that someone out there does understand and does care, and maybe this entire thing can help you in some ways that maybe other things haven't been able to help with. Remember, I love each and every one of you unconditionally. Don't ever be scared that I will judge you for your feelings. And I am always just a message away. I am listing this as a publicly view able post so feel free to un-tag yourselves if you don't particularly like this post. Also feel free to share it, and show anyone in it that you feel might appreciate it. Much Alien Love! P.S. Credit to the song goes to BoyInABand. I do not own this song, nor do I have any part in making this song, making it possible, or anything to do with it. I listened to this song today after finding his channel a few days ago from a viral video all over facebook. After listening to it, and really sitting down and thinking, I decided to share my opinions on the subject of the LGBT community. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYoapICIfeE

Day 29: June 24, 2017
Today is our last day in Sydney and most of all, Australia. My, oh, my has time flown by! It seems like yesterday we all met each other at LAX to fly to Melbourne to begin our journey and now, this journey is slowly coming to a close.
Since today is a free day and our last free day of the entire trip, we honored it by, you know it: sleeping in and going to brunch. We ended up finding a little nook not too far from Liverpool where there was two breakfast places situated. Kayla and Morgan ended up going to one place, and Ash and I to another. The server was kind enough to let us all sit together. For breakfast I had mini pancakes, bacon, and hash browns. I have really indulged on this trip which is always occupying the back of my mind. But my friends and my dear mother have been able to help me with that lol. After brunch and stopping to the hotel to get nose spray (Ash) and my windbreaker we headed for CQ for our boat tour. Thankfully the day prior we stopped by the booth to ensure our ticket confirmation and the location for pick up because the location was in a whole other wharf. Though Ash was worried that we wouldn't find it, I eased her worries and found the boat safely. We were even the first ones there.
My first impression was why was the boat so small and was so all docks rock and sway with the water?? Lol, after getting over the dock and the boat, I had another worry: how was I going to get in the boat?? The boat was about 18 inches from the dock and all I could imagine was me falling in the harbor (while Ashley was talking to some locals about the government lol). As you can tell, I made it onto the boat and did not fall in. The human mind is a powerful thing lol. To our surprise the boat tour was full to capacity but luckily since we were the first ones in, we got front row seats side by side.
Now when I say that boat was going fast! Omg! At times we were 100% airborne and would drop back into the ocean. Thankfully I love going fast and roller coasters so the ride was very pleasurable. Once we got a good ways out we began to spot whale pods. Honestly this was one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life because it's like finding a needle in a haystack. The developmental evolution to environmental camouflage is astounding! It was so rewarding when we finally spotted them, it was like a miracle. It was crazy at first because your almost right at the wave level and moving with the waves, but once you saw them your eyes locked in from pure fascination. This year they estimate about 23,000 whales will migrate this winter. We were a very lucky group for many reasons: - we saw dolphins - Whales came in arms reach to us - A whale performed a very rare behavior of only sticking his eye out of the water - And we saw (the left side of the boat besides me and Ashley) a whale breech Even though I didn't see all of it, I only saw the splash that it left. It was like the whale was waiting for us to move so it could make its mark. It is just amazing how a 40 ton whale can throw itself in the air! And need I remind you, this is now routine behavior and can't be timed like when they come up for breath. Scientists still to this day don't know completely why they go airborne. Magnificent, right? After the breech a whale came so close to the boat to breathe that it nearly scared us to death. Luckily the lady behind me caught it on video and she was willing to airdrop it to me once we got back to the wharf. We were late on the way back so the Captain Blake put on the jets! We were going about 60 mph and were practically flying! He even took us super close to the rocks to get a better look at the sandstone landscape! Surprisingly my phone or GoPro didn't go off into the wind! My mom will be so proud how much my phone has held up & which still is completely undamaged.
At the dock the nice woman airdropped me the video clip and asked me how it worked because she had never used it before. Before I knew it I was telling her about the trip and she was so intrigued. She asked what was I learning here, about our school, the climate, and if we all studied the same thing. I told her how I am premed and want to become a doctor & she gave me the most heartwarming confirmation: "You'll make a great doctor. I can tell. You have a great energy about you." I honestly felt so good about the plans I have set for myself. Soon after we had to part ways, her words will never be forgotten.
After the tour, I headed to a souvenir shop one last time and then we made it back to APX. Tonight was our group dinner, so we made it right on time to prop our feet up for 45 minutes before we were up roaming the city again. We all, well majority of us, met up in the lobby about 5:45 to head over the Blackbird Cafe for our last hoorah. What would be a group dinner without going the long way to places super close lol? It was enjoyable though, being able to take in Darling Harbor's night life one last time.
The dinner was really nice like surprisingly nice. The venue has a great vibe too with music in the background and everything. I even ended up trying kangaroo! It wasn't bad, but I probably wouldn't order it by itself. If steak could be any steakier, it would be considered kangaroo lol. I'm glad that I tried it because most people can't say that. Plus I'm glad that Jess let me try a more cooked part of her's because it's usually served rare to medium rare & I'm not bout that lol.
After dinner, Delilah and Jessica Fong, the producers of our talent show decided to do superlatives during dinner. With Cody as our host, it was a lovely experience. All the superlatives fit everyone to a "t" and even Saorise got one lol. Mine didn't really fit me that well, but it was funny. As y'all can see from reading my blog, I am a very chill person, but if someone is out of line I will politely inform them of so. I've been through lands of milk and honey to places unknown, and best believe I have become a stronger woman because of it. My superlative was the "Callout Award" lol. Though I don't force my opinion on anyone or am I the first one to state what's on their mind or always have to be heard, when something is completely out of line, I will stand up for what is right regardless of the time or hour. There's no need for obscenities but only the reality of truth that will set people free (don't get me to start preachin in here! Lol).
After dinner we all dispersed. The bar at the venue was very nice and the girls wanted to try the Fairy Floss Cosmo. Since Morgan had paid for several Uber's during our stay, I treated her to her drink because I literally ran out of cash lol. After drinks we headed for gelato one last time at Gelatisimmo and ya girl sealed the deal (and this month of indulgence) with a cup of plain ole vanilla.
As we ate out gelato on the way back to APX, I couldn't help but think of all the memories that have been created with people who were once strangers. I have literally spent a third of a semester with all these people I know call my friends, and now sadly our adventure is coming to a close. It's remarkable how time gives us room for the best memories but yet escapes us so quickly. I seems like yesterday I was dropped off and heading LAX on my own. Now, I am trying to mentally make sure that I won't forget anything lol.
Once we got to the room I decided to take a nap (until 11:30 ) and then start packing while Ashley got her stuff together. I set my alarm for 5 so I can take a shower.
Keynote: Ashley also set her alarm (keep this in mind)
All in all, tonight was definitely one for the books. I can definitely say that we truly are a huge family & that we genuinely care about one another. Usually study abroad groups aren't like that. I am so blessed to have these individuals in my life.
Things I've learned - I am literally having the time of life - Whales are amazing - I don't want to go home but I miss my family - I don't miss the AZ heat - I've made some wonderful friends - I've also met some great people - I WILL be back to visit Australia

F.A.Q.
Are you the real Elena Gilbert Salvatore?
I do not claim to be the lovely Nina C. Dobrev. Do I wish I was, like every other girl in the world, yes. Do I mind that I’m not… surprisingly no, because I wouldn’t be me if I followed the Ton [Yes, the Vampire diaries verse is equivalent to the olden High Society days]. Nor do I claim to be the gorgeous, Angelique Boyer. Unlike all the blonde haired, blue eyed Nina Dobrev(s) - I want to be different. Angelique has this flare, sassiness and creativity to her that I love, therefore she is my book face. I also do not claim to be the real Elena Gilbert. She is a fictional character created by L.J. Smith and was developed into a strong female lead that drew the attention of the CW and Julie Plec. Thus creating the Vampire Diaries. When discussing storylines please state which playby will work for our storyline best.
What is a Roleplayer?
I am a "ROLEPLAYER". What does this mean? My definition for a roleplayer is simple:
"The act of acting a role through scripting."
I have been roleplaying since 2004. High School Musical was my home, and Pirates of the Carribean/Twilight was my family back in Myspace days before Tom fucked that up. I am one of those people who try to stay in character as much as possible. If you are speaking to me here or on aim, I will act like Elena, speak like Elena and be the girl I picture her to be from my own interpretation. The fact that we both have a very similar personality is not my fault!
Original Avarié since 2013 on all sites. Original Silverina & Damn Angel since 2011. Any others are not me sorry, loves. I am also the Original Black Luxe since 2012, and it is my real life designing title so please don't even think about stealing that one.
How does your storylines work?
( ♔ ) VERSES Gimme the zombies, the fairies, the action and the peace. Give me any and all the verses your little heart desires. They make me happy inside. I love branching out... little Felicity Smoak fist pumps inside of me every time so... hit me! ( ♔ ) WRITING STYLE I write para, multi-para and depending on the intricacy of the storyline novella. I would rather have a 3 paragraph response with a deep storyline that moves quick then a novel that is repetitive and takes forever for no reason. I am willing to work with the other writer on how to develop the story and I will be saving the entire storyline on Tumblr (my profile) to make it easier on all of us.
Are you a Grammar Nazi?
I am not a grammar Nazi. We are all human outside of the lovely virtual world of Mystic Falls, New Orleans and SPN and I don't expect anyone to be perfect. As long as you don't TLK lke TI$ or make it incredibly stupid and unreadable to an intellectual... We shall be good my darlings.
Will you be here 24/7?
I am a college student and graphic designer in real life. Which means... I get busy, especially toward the end of the semester. Do not hassle me if I take long and please just... be kind. Honestly, there is so much hate in this verse that a little bit of kindness can go a long way.
Can we have a bit of Ooo LA LA?
Haha, sorry couldn't resist... my husband is probably gonna shake his head at me but oh well. I am happily married to Tourmente - Damon Salvatore. We have known each other for four years now and have been hitched for one. Sorry Boys.
What makes you different from the 100 other Elena’s out there?
I DON’T ROLEPLAY ELENA GILBERT LIKE OTHER PEOPLE.
I roleplay her the way I see her and how I believe she is feeling. There are some aspects I love about her and some that drive me insane but the same goes for my own real life. None of us love ourselves completely. You see I can’t say I am different from other Elena’s because we all the same, just with a different take on how we see her. I can’t promise you I will be different but I can promise that I will be me, and hopefully that is enough for you .

Why Most Relationships Fail
Whatever you have been taught to believe regarding life has been a complete rest. Everyone here has been altered for profits made by the actual elite. They care absolutely nothing about you, your family, your friends, your wellbeing, your life. This extends to your own beliefs about the world, really like, food, drugs, and human relationships, just to name a few. There are many ways you have been fed incorrect information but for today the focus is on human relationships.
http://whatmenlike.org/
Every thought or concept about relationships, fairy stories romances, how we look, the way we dress, and movies and publications written are completely incorrect. We have been brainwashed with provides, magazines, and subliminal communications from movies and tv. All of this to keep your life within fear and line their own pockets with money. We've been taught to believe that one time we will find our prince/princess charming and live gladly ever after. So many solitary people are searching for the "one" only to be let down again and again. There are tons of dating sites encouraging you that you will find your perfect diamond necklace. Others believe the more a person pay, the better chance you should have. Wrong! Some of you dread love because you relate enjoy with pain. Love is not pain. The breakup could possibly be painful but love is simply not. In truth, breakups are only distressing because you were not taught the causes relationships end. If you recognized the laws of the whole world, you would understand life and discover everything that you thought ended up being negative was and always is usually positive. There are 50 widespread laws that I suggest happened only learn but comply with. These laws have always been throughout affect. These are the ONLY rules to live by. They oversee your life. The Law of Fascination states, you attract actually. If you love yourself 100% unconditionally, then you can only attract a person who loves you as much as you care about yourself. Everyone is you. We live not separate but a single. Remember when you felt absolutely in love? Take in which same feeling, that similar energy and direct the idea inwards towards yourself. Really the only person you truly are seeking is yourself. Love involving self is mandatory. This is why you attract anything or maybe anyone for that matter. The law involving Resistence states that which you reject you draw to you. We live only energy who vibrate at different levels. The harder you focus on what you no longer want, you create the contrary; you draw it for you. When you focus on what you avoid want, you put energy in it, therefore , bringing it for you. For instance, if you think that all men/woman are cheaters, then you attract cheaters into your life. Whatever you think, you create to convince yourself that you are correct. In case you believe there are no accessible men/women, then that is what you should see. Are you following me personally? This extends to everything in your lifetime, not just relationships. There is also regulations of Unconditional Love. First of all you must love yourself unconditionally first!. In order for any romantic relationship to survive, you must also enter your relationships with wholehearted love. It's about a couple who are their own person who enhance each other. It's not about manage, demands, and expectations. You might be already complete so must not be looking for someone to complete a person, or make you happy. Nobody can do that for you (http://whatmenlike.org/find-balance-in-life.html). Whatever you place your attention on you produce. What you worry and worry about with relationships, a person draw that to you. Most people are you. You attract for your requirements what you feel and believe. As an alternative to putting your focus away from yourself, the person who you are absolutely searching for is you. You have for ages been the love you are searching for. Everything will start with you. Another law could be the Law of Manifestation which often creates what you believe. There are actually only three steps in realizing anything you desire, including a connection. The first step is your desire to have some sort of relationship. The second step could be the universe automatically goes out to develop that to you. You have confidence in and believe it will transpire. You tell yourself you will be a great manifester and you often get whatever you want. You will be very positive about it. You then let it go, not to think about it ever again because you know and have confidence in it will come. The third stage is allowing it to come. Many of you stop the allowing procedure because you bring in resistance from your words and thoughts. A person tell yourself, "I in no way get what I want". Or even, "I will never have this particular relationship". "Nothing good actually happens for me". Through saying any of those terms, you stop your outward exhibition. When a negative thought gets into your mind, change your focus. Pay attention to music, take a walk, or rest. Then say to yourself, "I am a great manifester. I am able to always manifest whatever I'd like. I always get whatever I'd like. " It is that simple. Recall, "where you attention moves, the energy flows". You then permit the desire go because you have confidence in it will happen. The more you may be specific of what you want to draw in, the more the universe can cause this for you. When I ended up being 21, going through a divorce, some sort of voice told me to write down typically the traits I wanted in a connection. Whatever I wanted at the time Outlined on our site list. For example I would publish on my list for a one who was fun, exciting, some sort of man's man, communicative, along with affectionate. That person would come straight into my life exactly how I composed him. I was young and not necessarily that experienced so I mastered what I thought I appreciated I didn't, and would likely keep changing my checklist. Each time I wrote a fresh list or deleted things and added other features. That exact person would certainly enter my life. This took place for years until I hitched. I always thought I hitched the right man for me, but I kept attracting unsafe men. I have been married 3 x to completely different men on the outside of. Meaning different races, diverse upbringings, and different ages. These people were all insecure. At that time I actually didn't realize it was I actually who was insecure. I captivated my feelings about me personally in others. After our last divorce in 08, I decided it was time for my family to find myself. I have nevertheless been in any long term romance as I was not ready. Rankings think I was healed connected with my past only to frequently attract unavailable men. Adult males who were married, men who all lived out of town, or adult males who worked all the time. This has been telling me that I hasn't been available. Are you following my family? In the beginning of this article, I talked about that we have been living quite a few lies creating the opposite connected with what we want. This is a great way we have been manipulated off of the worldwide laws. I have always treasured watching romantic comedies. I believe I figured that was simple but I was mistaken. All of romantic movies and works of fiction have the same scenario. Boy fulfills girl, they have problems, they will break apart, then like magic , come together and live enjoyably ever after; a story book. So many of us, including our old self, spend a great deal time searching for this story book romance. These movies generate resistance big time. The other night I recently found how automatically my mind travelled into resistance mode. Our thoughts were, "oh that will never happen for me. inches I also started looking backside at my past loves and after that noticed it never provides! It was then that I made the bond of how these movies I believed were harmless, were certainly not; A ploy to keep us coming from our truths. We have been developed into disbeliefs that have become more intense our fears and stored us from our wishes. I stopped that imagined and changed my concentration. Otherwise I would be back with resistance mode from luring the relationship I am manifesting. In actual fact, we are amazing creators that can create abundance, love, satisfaction, and our own paradise. You need to know what we can do and discover about the truths of lifetime. Follow this process, which is consequently simple just by changing your thought processes. It takes practice because decades what you are used to. Do not badger yourself if you make a miscalculation. The more time you spend on by yourself practicing, being positive in addition to loving every part of by yourself, it becomes automatic. Become the manifester you truly are in addition to manifest yourself your own romance. When the time is right therefore you are in vibrational alignment with the desire, you will have what you have already been searching for. By releasing anxiety, you raise your sto? which in turn keeps you with vibrational alignment with having everything you desire. Are you ready to look for love? Start first with yourself. You will need to be healed to attract a new healed person. Everything is due to self. Release any guiltiness from your past. Release thought processes that there was or is definitely something wrong with you. You are a nice person who has their own carefully selected presents to offer this world. Release your personal past, period! Live solely in the present moment. When you stress about your future or your outcomes you actually stop your desires. An individual create your future by what you imagine today. Always be in touch with how you feel. Use your feelings as your guidebook. Your own feelings are a vibrational lens to see where you are from. Your true self will be love. When you become mental, angry, guilty, etc . you're not in alignment with your genuine self. When you are not lined up with your true self, experts resistance. Use only your feelings concerning each person you meet. As early as you see a red flag, leave. Your current heart always has your responses and knows whats right for you. Leave your friends out of this since they have their own perceptions. Simply no two people see the same thing. Rule out your past and common sense and only follow your feelings.
