If my memory serves, the only thing we see is a needle hitting her and Illumi later appears with her badge. At a certain threshold of danger, it's easy to assume immidiate death but from Illumi's (and chrollo's) perspective, having a lot of mindcontrolled bodies laying around is really useful. especially fit ones.

If I had to guess, she's currently in a warehouse being mind controlled into doing the minimum to stay alive, where she will stay until Illumi needs a (in his view) mediocre sniper.

Yorknew just isn't Yorknew if it isn't in the 1999 anime. Oh yeah, been a while since a Late-Night Togashiposting. Not as tied to one single point but these are always fun and we can have a lot of it talking about one shared theme with our cherished melodramatic samurai. The very anime concept of this Adjacent Ensemble, the Phantom Troupe, and the Akazaya Nine. Really though I was blown away by this moment on my latest rewatch. I've always liked Neon Nostrade a lot, she's my Miss Goldenweek equivalent in HxH in terms of a not-at-all popular side character who's one of my favorites. Lovely Ghostwriter is a Nen power I'd really want. Honestly I was just blown away by the violin version of "Then Sun Shines At Night," the really good theme for this part of the adaptation. Check it out a least if you only know the 2011 anime:

Anyways, cool extra bonus for one of Neon's better scenes. I love this idea her power actually seems to come from a very pure place. And you have that classic type of Togashi connection through some kind of pop culture refernce. Talking about how a famous fortune teller called the Galactic Matron. You know, kinda like meeting someone who randomly said they were inspired by Miss Cleo. Who was an icon let us be clear. More than anything though this was my first watch of Yorknew since we got all the newer background for the Phantom Troupe. Holy crap...this was all there. I builds off what we knew so well. I love how free-flowing but tight Hunter x Hunter ends up being. Greed Island makes more sense as a training module for the Dark Continent, a brief pause in the Chimera Ants to show off Meteor City and some lore from the Chrollo/Hisoka fight building up to that...great.

The current arc is so dense and staggered I forgot creepy Prince Tserri is the benefactor of Morena and the Heil-Ly Family the Phantom Troupe have decided to target. Kurapika is really set up for the ultimate test of who he is. Pitting his quest to reclaim the eyes against his deep yearning for revenge all while the human element of keeping Woble alive complicates things. There's a reason I don't care if this man takes his time. Remember, Kurama's big moment was killing a kid if it meant saving the world.

It's so cool in hindsight though what we have with Neon and this interaction with Chrollo. Like, Neon Nostrade looks a lot different with more of the story. She's a brat because of her environment but there's a strong enough drive behind that belief in the power of fortunes she spontaneously awakened Nen. And lost it because the darkness of the world reached her. Through a former sweetie who decided to be a villain over trauma.

Which Fictions are good to Fanfic?

When I write I want to use one of these things from a fandom I'm in.

The world

The characters

The power system

I tend to ask myself the question what anime/manga/book/show is so good that one of these can stand alone for me to work with.

For example

World

Harry Potter/Naruto/Game of Thrones/Lord of Rings. I've found to be excellent starting worlds. You can place any character in these worlds and have an exciting background going on with fun facts and lore everywhere for you to draw upon.

You have a clear picture of the world, but it's lose enough that you can change things and it won't feel off putting.

You want to write a Deathnote fanfic in the Deathnote world? Great. Your in Japan. That's it. Real world Japan at that so you need to do research, but nothing is happening with politics or science or the supernatural that isn't affecting the main characters or being affected by them so if you do something cool you must ask yourself, 'How did it happen?' and 'How would it effect the main story?'.

Those aren't always bad questions, but it limits you a lot.

In HP you want to have a new potion or spell exist that is really important? Super easy. Ancient knowledge found in a hidden tome or new magic dropped yesterday by so and so. Easy. You want the law to be this or that? You want to bring in some conflict with another country? New supernatural creature? Bring in some religion? Easy as pie. The world is set up so that all this stuff could have always been a thing, but just wasn't talked about. It's a magic world. Nuff said.

If I'm writing a story about the world I want it to be interesting enough to stand alone and still be worth telling.

Characters

Most often I'm interested in the characters. I love displacing characters and putting them where they shouldn't be.

Most fandoms have at least some good characters, but there are a few great ones for example.

Captain Jack Sparrow is so fun to me that I'd rather watch him in an Ikea for 3 hours then a Pirate movie without him in it.

A lot of superheroes have those kind of personalities. Thor could be fun on a ranch. You can send Spiderman to medieval times. Deadpool could make watching paint dry be the best thing in the world.

Some characters have so much personally that the whole story can just be them reacting to a different setting.

Then you have characters like Bella Swann from Twilight....She's not going to get any better in outer space or Jurassic Park. If your writing for that fandom you are most likely either fixing her or getting rid of her.

A character with little personally can however become a skin for your oc. If I didn't want to make my own character, but wanted to send someone from Naruto into say the DC world I could use Tenten. But I'd be picking her for her world. I'd want the ninja background without having to give a backstory. It's a pretty boring options when it comes to characters from Naruto.

Lastly Power Systems

Those can be amazing if they are the star of the fic. Like drop a deathnote into any fandom with any kind of character and Boom you got a story.

I'd read lots of fics about an OC that uses Charka just slightly differently and they become OP because of it.

The insane creativity in Nen from HxH is my favorite. You can come up with 1,000s of prompts of characters interacting with a weird power that does anything.

Truth serum, berserker rage, fuck or die, character got turned into a cat? Nen can do all that shit and more.

Anyway just felt like talking about which fandoms I think are extra good for fanfic writing.

loveeee love your ocs!! can i ask what inspired them and what was your thought process behind your cupid ocs? 💘

Ahhh your interest makes me so happy! I love to talk about it, so since you are prompting I will go ahead hehe 🥺❤ Usually when I create a world, a concept, etc it starts out with one oc who usually is the "main character" or focus because I love them a lot. In this case it's cupid 09 also known as Eve! I had a pretty clear vision for her and influenced her style around a mix of g/ucci with some c/hanel styles + aesthetics. I'm not super gung-ho about designer fashion, but I really adore some of the looks so I catch up with it once in a while and dress some of my ocs in a mlkinis esque take on some of the clothes and cuts. I wanted Eve to basically be my model for those kinds of clothes. At that point I was calling myself a genius because Eve is absolutely to my taste, and I wanted to give her friends and family. I tend to not do anything that fun with my ocs who are in worlds that are just like modern day earth, so I spiced it all up by making Eve a cupid on planet Venus because I had been playing at an angel vs devil idea for a long time. Instead Cupid Co verse became Cupids vs. those who oppose Cupids and the idea of "soulmates" Everything snowballed and I designed 10 cupids (some whose designs are not finalized) to become coworkers / family. I'm specifically envisioning sort of an? insane and crazy group for the Cupid Co. An energy similar to the spiders in HxH or the Noah Family from D.grayman if you can understand me haha. I have lore coming out the background of it all and stuff, but it's a tba because my writing can't catch up with my brain. A lot of my friends like the characters I have designed for the ones who oppose cupids though. They are called Breakers, and maybe you'll like some too when I finish my refs and show them to the public! 🤔

@sephmeadowes So, this part is a bit of a blurb, but I just love everything Seph writes. I recently provoked her into writing Moonshine which is Lauren/Emmett, and of course, I will plug her newest work Impossible the prequel to her breakdown of vampire lore in Twilight, as well as being Jessica/Edward. Jess won’t let Edward live. No Bella. She does the most. We don’t deserve it.

Also, one million invisible lines bc Caroline and Kol is a ship I associate solely with Seph and she wrote them in every situation beautifully. Also, she took my requests and let me annoy her for the next couple years XD

what’s the story, morning glory? @highgaarden. The TVD & Gossip Girl crossover that I never knew I needed. It’s just so much fun to read. Absolutely delightful. So much so, I used the word delightful. Basically, Nate and Elena are getting married and everyone rises up to put a stop to it. Just the sheer amount of times I read this just to giggle at the same jokes over the years is something else. It’s such an interesting and in character take, it’s truly like the shows blended.

Marrow @actuallydeglace – Naruto: Sakura/Kimimaro. Like?? I didn’t know I needed Kimimaro and Sakura to slowly but beautifully fall in love in Orochimaru’s underground bunker, but now I do? Also, (I know you get this a lot) they single-handedly made me ship both KimiSaku AND KabuSaku? I should be making FUN of Kabuto, not shipping him with Sakura?? Who are you?? Inspired me so much and captivated my attention for weeks.

Bloodsport by vioxxin on ff.net – Tokyo Ghoul: Hide/Kaneki. Like, the only Hide/Kaneki fic I need in my cold heart. It’s been unfinished, but I just have such love for this fic and the author’s descriptions and Hide/Kaneki’s relationship when they haven’t gone to school together, but Kaneki is still a ghoul. I’m not giving it justice, just read it. Sometimes I just reread scenes.

Prime Cut @provocative-envy – HP: Hermione/Scabior. I didn’t know I needed Hermione asking Scabior to be her date to her best friend’s wedding, yet here we are. I’ve read this probably ten times. Envy’s mind is big-brain all the time. Best ideas. Best HP crackships. And GoT ships too!

Green Girl @colubrina – HP: Hermione/Draco. But when I say RENT FREE, I mean, Colubrina has written so many wonderful HP fics, but Green Girl is just holds a special place in my heart. I reread it at the beginning of quarantine. I love Slytherin Hermione and her relationship with Draco, the give and take of the other Slytherins, the way events of the story shift and politics. I love wizard politics. I wish Colubrina nothing but perfect happiness for this fic alone.

Cancel On Me by Purrugly on ff.net –  Teen Wolf: Erica Reyes-centric. I love Erica Reyes to this day and only wish we could have gotten more time with her character bc this was PEAK, I say PEAK Erica Reyes content for me. It was such a good breakdown for a character that got so little attention.

The Veil Between @ohmoka – BNHA: TogaChako. Hi moka, SO, my very first Togachako! It seemed so obvious, I love Ochako and I love Toga, of course, I should ship them. However, I didn’t want to, but this fic slowly broke me down and I just fell in love with the idea of them together. The slow turn over of their relationship and spending Halloween together in a graveyard. Inspired me to write my own TogaChako.

All the Ashes in My Wake @modernart2012 – BNHA: NatShig. This feels like a classic to me, honestly. It’s that trope of fake identities and romance, Shigaraki pretends to be someone else to date Natsuo for nefarious means, but feelings start to creep in. ALSO, the first Natshig fic I’ve ever read, so ModernArt, I blame you. I do. It’s been stuck in my mind like a staple ever since. I love it.

take heart (you’re all that I can see) @bittermoonswrites – BNHA: NatShig. Sup? Anyway, THIS NatShig just made me so happy. Moon’s writing is so nice and fluid, I don’t know how they do it. Shigaraki as a ballet dancer is a plus and I loved watching the relationship blossom and develop. Also, the ending which I had to read twice before I could possibly review. I can not wax enough about it, just all the subtle nuances caught me completely.

Red Spider Lilies @seiyuna – HXH: KuroKura. Ohmigod, oh-kay. So, didn’t know I would ever ship this, but now I do and I am absolutely in love with seiyuna’s other krkr works. Just . . . this reincarnation au hits me so different; I love the vignettes. I can feel an epic soundtrack in the background every time these characters look at each other. Also, seiyuna’s smut scenes are just phenomenal.

Chlorine @itsillumi – HXH: KuroKura. So, yeah. This stole my teeth. I can’t bite into anything else for a week. Like, these characters speak and it sears my soul. Chapter one is called flatline and I damn near almost did. I laid on my living room carpet with the Cat for an hour after finishing the last update.  I choose death.

KALLUTO  TWISTED  WONDERLAND  VERSE.

   I’ve  been  debating  this  back  and  forth  ,  but  essentially  I’m  saying  that  it’s  more  of  a  crossover  /  merge  verse  than  strictly  a  character  reimagined  BECAUSE  it’s  entirely  plausible  with  HxH’s  Nen  (  which  is  essentially  like  the  magic  &  unique  magic  of  Twisted  Wonderland.  )  However  there  will  be  a  historical  element  added  into  the  Twisted  Wonderland  universe  with  this  so  I  do  advise  reading  this  all  ;  it’s  important  to  the  lore  I’m  adding  ( plus  this  opens  up  my  2  other  HxH  muses  to  you  guys  as  well  if  you  want  them ).  

BACKGROUND LORE

   Assassins  are  nothing  new  to  the  Twisted  Wonderland  universe  so  of  course  a  heriachy  of  assassins  exist.  In  the  HxH  universe  ,  the  Zoldyck  family  is  the  world’s  most  infamous  and  powerful  assassins  ,  so  much  so  that  mafias  and  other  assassins  fear  them  (  except  the  poor  fools  that  try  to  go  after  them  ).  They  are  the  best  of  the  best  ,  if  they  show  up  ,  something  serious  is  going  on.  And  some  of  the  most  mysterious  and  expert  level  assassinations  in  the  Twisted  Wonderland  universe  have  been  executed  by  the  Zoldyck  family  themselves  ,  but  none  have  been  seen.  They  utilized  a  Nen-user  who’s  Nen  (  aka  unique  magic  )  involved  being  able  to  open  paths  to  other  worlds  via  objects.  It  was  done  in  a  manner  similar  to  the  Greed  Island  games  for  those  of  my  followers  who  know  HxH.  (  For  those  who  don’t  ,  it  was  a  console  that  allowed  Nen  users  to  enter  into  a  ‘  video  game  ‘  world  where  you  could  really  die  inside  it  )  Thus  ,  the  Zoldycks  are  something  of  a  story  in  Twisted  Wonderland  ,  some  believe  it  and  some  don’t.  But  there  are  several  pieces  bearing  the  strange  symbol  of  the  Zoldyck  symbol.

STRICTLY TWISTED WONDERLAND

   Kalluto  follows  the  HxH  up  to  current  canon.  (  For  those  who  do  not  know  , you  can  check  his  history.  but  he  is  a  highly  trained  and  successful  assassin  )  While  on  a  task  ,  he  unknownigly  grabbed  one  of  the  objects  made  in  the  past  and  ended  up  in  Twisted  Wonderland.  Rather  than  panic  or  freak  out  ,  he  simply  wandered  until  he  found  and  was  taken  underwing  by  Kalim  (  @thechessboard​  ).  When  prompted  due  to  not  speaking  unless  spoken  to  ,  he  only  gives  his  first  name  ,  not  mentioning  his  last  name.  While  Kalluto  isn’t  strictly  aware  of  where  he  is  or  that  he’s  traveled  unverses  ,  he  operates  under  the  assumption  anywhere  knows  of  the  Zoldycks  just  as  they  do  at  home.  But  if  asked  for  his  last  name  ,  he  would  give  it.

   His  Nen  continues  to  work  unaffected  in  this  new  world  and  since  he  has  mastered  it  at  a  young  age  ,  seeing  the  magic  of  NRC  and  other  places  doesn’t  surprise  him.  He  often  chooses  to  follow  Kalim  unless  asked  not  to.  This  is  due  to  the  fact  that  the  older  boy  has  shown  him  affection  ,  which  is  a  rare  treat  for  the  trained  assassin.  

   However  at  NRC ,  it’s  not  uncommon  to  find  him  testing  Pomefiore  poisons  due  to  his  immunity  to  them  as  well  as  ability  to  identify  and  work  with  poisons  himself.  If  not  with  Kalim  or  the  labs ,  he  likes  to  train  to  keep  his  skills  sharp.   He’s  a  professional  assassin  after  all  ,  and  he  has  no  intentions  of  going  easy  on  himself.  Big  brother  Illumi  and  his  parents  would  be  disappointed.

If there was some things hxh had to improve on what would it be(not including hiatuses)? Or what do you want to see from it more?

*punchs a table* Give Leorio an arc or give me death I’m begging. 

Tbh this is my major pet peeves. Leorio is one of the main four characters, yet he always take a backseat in the action. Not to mention the anime did him dirty and removed most of the scenes he was shining into, mostly to add him complaining instead, it’s really frustrating. He had some good scenes in the early arc (most of them cut in anime), and The Election Arc was a good starting point for an arc, but as much as I am happy to see Kurapika again and focus on his story, I seriously desperately wanted this arc to be about Leorio. 

I honestly have little to complain about with hxh. The elements that could have been pet peeves had eventually either be fixed, ended up being too interesting in the huge story for me to complain, or gained appreciation for it as rewatches happened. Not to mention also some pet peeves I could have that, then put in comparaisons with others shounen, I ended up being chill with.

One of my pet peeves, but that I can’t exactly blame on the author, is some missing conversations. I wish we could have seen Killua and Gon at least talk a little more before parting ways. Now I understand the fact there is a Miscommunication problem is a point, I don’t want to dwell into that, but I mean like. What happened when they reunited? How Gon apologized first? 

This is the kind of little scenes that would be nice to see - but at the same time it was around the hiatuses and I get that he wanted to jump straight to the point. There are others occurences of that in the last arc (Kurapika and Leorio needs to have an actual conversation, are they avoiding each other right now or is it just deemed not important?) but with the tight timing of the parution I get it might be hard to come across. 

Most of the things I wanted to see more are stuff the latest arc are offering. I wanted Lore Building (the whole DC stuff), I wanted more “humans” enemies for a bit (I loved the ants and their means in the story - i just wanted to see more humans causing damages just because), I wanted more politics (.... I don’t know how to justify myself on this one I just like those), I wanted to see more Kurapika (Not like that but as upset as i am of the direction his storyline is taking for himself, I also find it so interesting to see this development which makes sense in his narrative, as upsetting as it is. Kurapika is the ultimate Upsetting Fav.) - I wanted more female characters or at least see back some characters we saw and by god the latest arcs are showing off some of that and I’m glad (even if it could be better it’s still better than the average shounen)

All that I want now is really a proper Leorio storyline. Now I think we might be getting it - I tend to believe that the DC arc will be devided in two, the Succession War that is mostly Kurapika centric (with the others bodyguards as supporting cast) - and once we will reach the actual Dark Continent, hopefully more Leorio centric (with the Zodiac, Ging and Pariston as supporting cast) - since Kurapika is only there for the Prince. 

But I still want a proper story, show me what happens in the riots of the lowers levels, that’s where Leorio is at, plus there’s the troupe atm. If we need Kurapika to get hurt to have Leorio be active because he already had the fear to lose a friend a few months ago with Gon he won’t let it happen, so be it, just as long as you don’t kill Kurapika. But please for crying out loud give him an actual, individual storyline, I’m begging. 

Also I want more information on his training, I want more information about his background, it frustrates me so much that those are stuff we don’t know. 

So ye I guess it’s mainly it, but i’m frankly nip picking. HxH is a story i like to get carried on by. Aside from more Leorio that I’m seriously begging for, I have little to complain about and the story always offered a lot of amazing stuff to think about, all while being an amazing ride. 

.... Also please don’t kill any of the main four i’m begging.
