Sin duda alguna, podemos asegurar que el Salón Internacional de la Motocicleta México (SIMM), es el evento de motocicletas más importante de la ciudad de México. ¿Por qué? Porque es en el que más marcas se reúnen, tanto corporativos como concesionarias y obviamente, la comunidad que no solo disfruta los nuevos lanzamientos de las marcas sino de un gran número de espectáculos, exposiciones y precios muy buenos para equipos de seguridad, accesorios y motocicletas. Punto.

En esta 15ª edición,  encontramos más marcas que el año pasado, unas con mayor cobertura que otras pero que al final sumaron para satisfacción de quienes asistimos a ponernos al día en el mundo de las motocicletas en México. Dentro de las nuevas atracciones, encontramos la “Escuela de manejo para principiantes”; la zona “Pruebas de manejo multimarcas para adultos”; el enduro kids; la pasarela “Street Wear” con las últimas tendencias en diseño de ropa y equipamiento, acrobacias a cargo del escuadrón “Alas de Acero”, y exhibiciones de estilo libre lideradas por el mexicano Alex Cervantes y el chileno Javier “Astroboy” Villegas, que nos dejaron helados después de verlos en acción.

  Por otro lado, se sumó la “1ª Muestra de Arte y Motociclismo”, la cual exhibió la exposición “Living To Ride” a cargo del motociclista Dubanok Onoff y la serie de fotografías “A shout for freedom” por parte del Motoclub Las Marías MC, quienes recibieron el reconocimiento al “Motoclub femenil del año”. Para los amantes del enduro, se realizó el “8º Encuentro de Enduro-Indoor-Serial SIMM” donde pilotos de talla internacional como, “Chucho” Zavala, José Luis “Pájaro” Pérez, Massimo Mangini, Maurizio Carminati, dieron fe de sus habilidades.Los más de 30 mil visitantes de toda la República Mexicana disfrutamos de un gran evento, lleno de actividades que nos llevaban de esquina a esquina. Lo malo, es que solo duró tres días.

  En cuanto a las presentaciones, éstas fueron las más interesantes:

AIMA MOTOCICLETAS: Lanzó la Diol Led Version, Cuore Classico y M-Trek, tres modelos eléctricos, ideales para transporte urbano,  enfocados en aminorar la mala calidad del aire en las zonas urbanas del país y reducir el gasto por consumo de gasolina.

  DUCATI: Mostró la nueva Multistrada 1200 Enduro diseñada para los pilotos ansiosos de escapar de la carretera y caminos sin explorar.

  INDIAN MOTORCYCLE: Presentó dos modelos 2018, la Chieftain Dark Horse con motor Thunderstroke 111, bicilíndrico de 1,811cc en V y la Scout Bobber, que sobresale por su estilo rudo con alto desempeño, ligera y compacta, permitiendo un fácil manejo.

  GAS GAS: Exhibió su última saga de trial y enduro, la TXT 300 TRIAL que destaca por su equilibrio, tracción y control. Los modelos EC 250 y EC 300 que estrenan chasis, motor, suspensiones y geometrías; así como la CONTACT TRIAL ES 2018 con arranque eléctrico. Una moto para los grandes amantes de la montaña y el trial.

  HARLEY-DAVIDSON: La firma de Milwaukee desencadena la revolución Custom Big Twin México, lanzando el proyecto de desarrollo de productos más grande en su 115 aniversario con las rediseñadas motocicletas Fat Bob, Heritage Classic, Low Rider, Softail Slim, Deluxe, Breakout, Fat Boy y Street Bob.

  HONDA MOTOS: Através de sus concesionarios de alta gama, Honda Powerhouse mostró los iconos de casa como la Africa twit, sus modelos VFR 800 y 1200, NC750X, etc.

  HUSQVARNA/DLG MOTOART: Mostraron la nueva generación de máquinas de 2T, las completamente nuevas TE 250i y TE 300i. Equipadas con un sistema de inyección de combustible electrónico que ofrece ventajas sin precedentes en términos de rendimiento, comportamiento, consumo de combustible y facilidad de uso. También presentó una gama renovada de modelos TE y FE 2018.

  KTM: Presentó la 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R, la más extrema de su historia;  la DUKE 390 ligera como una pluma, potente y contando con lo último en tecnología.

  ITALIKA: Lanzó su modelo VORT-X 300 y la VORT-X 650, dos motocicletas tipo naked de diseño agresivo y cuadro italiano. Dos de los modelos más esperados por sus prestaciones y precios.

  PIAGGIO MÉXICO: El grupo más nuevo en llegar a la escena nacional mostró que quiere hacer las cosas de manera distinta y puso una pista para enseñar a manejar motocicletas en un stand muy interesante. Vespa, Piaggio, Aprilia y Moto Guzzi tuvieron una gran presencia.

  MOTO GUZZI: Recién lanzada en Europa, la Moto Guzzi III Stone fue presentada en el SIMM –aunque se venderá hasta noviembre- y fue una de las motocicletas que más llamó la atención gracias a su inigualable diseño.

Husqvarna will be introducing fuel injection in their upcoming 2018 model year two-stroke enduro bikes, a release from the company said. The all-new 2018 Husqvarna TE 250i and 2018 Husqvarna TE 300i enduro models will be equipped with transfer port injection. Production of these fuel-injected two-stroke motorcycles will begin in June 2017 and the company says more details will be released on 30 May 2017. The move follows Husqvarna owner KTM also announcing fuel-injected two stroke enduro motorcycles just a few weeks ago, on the KTM 250 EXC TPI and KTM 300 EXC TPI.

Husqvarna will use the same technology for its own enduro motorcycles in the same segments. The new models will meet Euro 4 emission regulations, leading to hopes that fuel-injected two-stroke motorcycles, already popular in the off-road category, may make a comeback in the road bike segment too. So far, there is no word on any such development, with both KTM and Husqvarna focussing on pure off-road machines with the two-stroke, fuel-injected engines.

Husqvarna has remained a dominant force in the segment of high-performance two-stroke off-road motorcycles, right from Rolf Tibblin's first Motocross European Championship in 1959 to the golden age of motocross during the 60s and the 70s. One of the first motorcycle manufacturers to build a purpose-built off-road bike, Husqvarna has always been a great advocate of two-stroke technology.. The new generation of fuel-injected two-strokes will mark a new chapter in the history of Husqvarna Motorcycles. The question that still remains unanswered is - will two-stroke road bikes make a comeback?
