The scores are in!

Well, kind of.

There’s not a proper scoring system here as such, but I tallied up all the things I listed as “hits” from my recent roundup of the predictions, and the inestimable @turned-her-brain came out victorious with a whopping 30 correct predictions!

Sarah and I racked up quite a few points by sheer amount of fics written (25 between us, I think) but we weren’t alone!

Honourable runners up were the excellent @half-synth, @nachocheese-itsmycheese, @loliquiu, @rocknvaughn, @markseposts and @lightsaberlesbian - if you (understandably) can’t remember far enough back, then why not have a reread of some of those gems? For a tiny fandom we are GOOD at this writing thing.

So, finally, nearly 11 months after series 3 premiered (can you believe😭) it’s time to reward these predictions with a little Humansy goodness.

I’ve got some WAP fliers (the ones handed out to cast at the premiere and random strangers at the robotics fair) and perhaps a postcard or two, so if I’ve tagged you in this post, please drop an address in the inbox of this sideblog (I fear they will get lost in my main blog, I’m bad at keeping up with messages) and your mail will be on its way!

I had really wanted to paint Mia (Gemma Chan) from the tv series Humans, which I love. I really like her character a lot in the series. 

I worked on this, on and off over 2 days and finished it this afternoon; I’m actually really happy with the end result. I think I’m going to paint more portraits of other characters from my favourite TV shows.

Welcome to the second week of the Humans 4 Week Fanwork Challenge!

Officially this week starts on June 10 and finishes on June 16, but of course you can fill any prompt, any time. (The word ‘write’ comes up a lot but definitely feel free to create other fanworks like art or gifs. It’s all good stuff!)

This week’s prompts are all about Alternate Universes! 

Day 1: Historical AU (Sat 10) Put the characters in a different period of history. It’s up to you if there are still synths (steampunk!) or if everyone’s human. How are their lives different?  

Day 2: College/High School AU (Sun 11) A classic fanfiction trope. Put the characters into some kind of education - are they teachers, students? Send them to senior prom! Or lock them up in detention! Up to you. 

Day 3: Crossover/Fusion (Mon 12)  Do a mashup with one of your other favourite franchises. Popular ones in our fandom have been Merlin, Star Wars, and Doctor Who, but be as random as you like! Crossovers introduce characters/events from both sides, fusions usually put the characters of one into the world of the other. 

Day 4: Coffee Shop/Bookshop AU (Tue 13) Another timeless classic. You know the drill. Someone works in that sweet little establishment around the corner, and someone else comes in looking for a coffee (or a novel or a necklace or a tin of dogfood) and finds much, much more… Cheese it up for this one. You know you want to. 

Day 5: Superhero AU (Wed 14) Someone’s got a secret superhero identity… or maybe more than one someone. What powers do they have? Who do they want to save? (Who do they wish they could have saved?) 

Day 6: Pirate AU (Thu 15) Arrrrrrr. Everyone’s a pirate now. Write about the characters’ adventures on the seven seas, looting and finding buried treasure and all those excellent piratey activities. This one has good opportunities for steampunk, too. 

Day 7: Human/Synth Switch AU (Fri 16) Finally, back a bit closer to canon with this one. Imagine if the characters we know as human were actually synths, and all the synths were actually humans… how does that change things? (You don’t have to switch everyone, if you don’t want to. Feel free to focus on just one or two characters.)

(Oh, one more thing: the fourth week of this challenge is a Collab Week, where everyone is encouraged to expand/develop/continue other works produced in the challenge. Obviously it’s up to you whether or not you want other participants to interact with your work in this way, so if you want to opt-out, just put a note somewhere in your post, saying the fic isn’t eligible for Collab Week.)

Shows that people need to watch (but i feel that no one is)

8 Humans (2015)

he This show is set in a world technology has advanced to allow for the creation of human synths, essentially robots. However, what would happen if these highly intelligent creations were made to feel? This show explores that, as several of the synths have been made to feel everything humans can. It is honestly so good, and as you can see on the poster, cinnamon role colin morgan from Merlin.

Dark Matter (2015)

A sifi show, this show is about a crew of 7 people who find themselves on a ship with no memory of who they are. The show is then about them trying to figure out who they are, and what they are doing together on the ship. It has a very diverse cast 

The leader is a woman, her name is 2 (i know, its strange, just watch the show), and she is so kickass I love her. 

Sense8 (2015)

I cannot say enough good things about this show. It starts with 8 people scattered across the globe, who are mentally linked. They all experience the same thing, but they pose a danger. That is why a certain organization starts to hunt them down, and that is why they have to use their skills, work together and get away from the bad guys.  A netflix original, this show is literally one of the mist diverse shows I have ever seen

The characters are from all over the world, about 6 different cultures and ethnicities are represented in one show, not to mention a crap ton of LGBTQ representation. okay, let’s just cut to the chase, this show is gay as fuck. II honestly cannot say enough good things about this show, it’s amazing. 

Angel (1999)

Okay, so people have obviously seen buffy, it’s a classic. But i feel that no one ever talks about Angel, and it’s a damn shame, ‘cause Angel was a great show, albeit from seasons 1-3. Angel follows Angel’s adventures in his new home Los Angeles with his team Angel investigations where they work together to solve crimes throughout the city. I love Buffy with all of my heart, but there is something about Angel that is just awesome. It develops the charcater of Cordelia into a somewhat vapid ditz, to an absolute loveable badass. Seriously just watch this show for Cordelia. And Wesley. And Fred. And Gunn. Oh and, cangel till the end, sorry Bangel shippers! 

Charmed (1998)

Okay, this is my favourite show of all fricking time. It’s about these 3 sisters, who find out that they’re witches. And not just any witches, but extremely powerful ones who are destined to defeat evil. But despite that herculean task, that is not the show’s focus. The show is not about 3 witches who happen to be sisters, it is about 3 sisters who happen to be witches. The bond that the show creates between them is absolutely beautiful, and it is something that I don’t think we see a lot on TV. It is also so funny, making me laugh out loud for 8 wonderful seasons. Yep, if you have nothing to do for the summer, watch Charmed.
