I love Jan. He mostly just hangs around and listens to what others are saying, chiming in every now and then. But then when he's in the spot light once in a blue moon you'll be thinking about wtf he just did and said for the next two months.

(small spoiler about the cloak post)
I forgot if it's shown in the memory snow Ova or just in season 1, but Petra can recognize Emilia in her cloak (and unless you were conscious of that, you'd never even realize it happens, I don't even think Emilia really thought much about it) and people have pointed that out as "oh the cloak has flaws" but it's just revealed later (7 or 8th arc I can't quite remember) on that Petra just has Special Eyes™ and can just see through any and all illusions as more come up later and she's essential for dealing with it.
So there was a reason for her recognizing Emilia, that was for shadowed for her nearly 10 years prior
OHHHH
And this shows in the anime too, when Petra turns to Emilia without the cloak on and is like "You're the girl that always came to our morning calisthenics" when Emilia always wore her cloak then. Other than 'cause Subaru said, this is the start of the kids asking Emilia to join them on the dragon carriage
But it's like- so subtle, because then Petra says ", right?" at the end (might be different in other translations, but that's the one I know), as if she's not certain herself, but SHE IS

Dead Poets Society but make it Ms. Peregrine's Home but also make it Babel and perhaps Alice in Wonderland:
A school for the quaints and the peculiars, deep inside the forest but also near the sea. You get there with train and get off the station where none of the kids ever come back. Your parents, concerned, not sure what to do with you, send you there. It's the place where there are kids like us. They wish you a nice stay, maybe nicer than home... (be it with the kindest intention, be it not).
There are teachers... I mean of course (adult supervision!), the kind professors or the funky chefs or the kind gardener lady. But here's the catch: the only subjects they taught are humanities. They teach you how to Mozart or Monet, how to Poe or Plato. Dead languages, ancient excerpts, and maybe pentagrams and reliving myths (as long as you don't get caught).
But also here's another thing: you and your funky friend groups (who does not only recite poems or memorize lines or speak 3 languages) (but also talks to the dead, and can float, and could converse with the rabbits) have questions you ought to answer. To where does the rusty door behind the wild grape vines lead? What's behind the towering, dusty bookshelves? Shouldn't you take a closer look at the cave near the beach?
Yes. Maybe it will take you somewhere, another place like this school. A place where there are kids like us. Maybe, just maybe.

story by me (craig)
I are literature
In the quiet town of Doodleville, there lived a peculiar doodle named Craig. Craig was no ordinary sketch; he was a cat with a mission. Despite his simple appearance, Craig harbored ambitions far grander than his humble origins suggested.
From a young age, Craig possessed an insatiable curiosity and a keen intellect. While his peers contented themselves with idle doodling, Craig spent his days studying the world around him, absorbing knowledge like a sponge. He learned about history, politics, and the intricacies of human behavior, all from the confines of his paper realm.
As Craig grew older, his ambitions expanded. He yearned for something more than the confines of Doodleville. He dreamed of venturing beyond the borders of his sketchbook and making his mark on the wider world.
One fateful day, Craig's opportunity arrived in the form of a stray pencil left unattended on the edge of his page. With a mixture of determination and excitement, Craig seized the pencil and began to draw. He sketched a doorway leading out of Doodleville, and with a final flourish, he stepped through into the unknown.
The world outside was vast and full of wonders, but it was also fraught with danger. Undeterred, Craig embarked on a quest to carve out his own destiny. Along the way, he encountered a colorful cast of characters, from mischievous doodles to formidable adversaries.
Despite the challenges he faced, Craig never lost sight of his ultimate goal: to leave his mark on the world and reshape it according to his vision. With each obstacle overcome and each victory achieved, Craig grew stronger and more determined than ever before.
In the end, Craig's journey was not just about conquering the world, but about discovering his true self and realizing his full potential. As he stood atop the highest peak, surveying the realm he had conquered, Craig knew that his adventures were only just beginning. For Craig was not just a doodle; he was a legend in the making, destined for greatness beyond the confines of his paper kingdom.

CW: gore, possibly body horror (?) no blood, more about getting burned (badly)
Yknow how when Caul visits Jacob in a nightmare in AMoD, Jacob notices a smell of burning flesh
And when Caul returns in TDoDA and people who’ve had encounters with him in the beginning share what they’ve seen, one of them describes his bottom half looking like roots, but made of grey flesh.
I think we all know what meat looks like when you cook it (I dunno about human flesh for sure though. And I don’t like thinking about that 💀)
Anyway that man’s missing legs in TDoDA, not because they magically disappeared, but because they got burned off
You’re welcome ❤️

Do you ever look at a certain character and you wished the franchise did more with them but they just practically leave them quite undeveloped despite the potential they have?
#characters#franchise#txt#i feel like this about a few characters#like eric from tlm. i mean the animated version specifically#he is the least developed major character in all of animated tlm franchise and it's quite annoying#they gave him a decent/good enough development in the original movie#but his character was practically pushed to the side in the sequel and wasn't even present in the third#i think eric's status as the “representation” of humanity and ariel being a mermaid hasn't allowed his character to be expanded in the way#he really shoulda been. his character was left quite untouched till that novel came out a year ago#it's messed up that it took that long for writers to FINALLY pay attention to his character and depict him as more than just ariel's love#interest/arm candy#honestly most disney princes are quite underdeveloped specially the earlier ones#this is why people just dismiss them#and eric's case is interesting in that he is the only one to smash a non-human and that represented or symbolized humanity#he was the only one to not have a song and honestly he shouldn't have been given one. he didn't need to sing unlike the others#like eric is the only prince who was directly pursued he didn't need no song lol#for as much sh*t as the animated pairing gets they are the most unique and peculiar in all of the disney princess romances#this is what i didn't like about the remake they gave ariel's traits to eric basically. he was the one being infatuated now#like i'm sorry but one of the things i love about ariel was her fangirlism. they took that away from her and gave it to eric#they turned it into a traditional relationship in a sense when they weren't supposed to be that#idc idc idc this is how i feel about it#anyways i shoulda left that for another post tbh 💀

@thetwistedronin wanted a plotted starter <3
He wasn't far from the settlement. Just searching for a few things he could potentially bring back to his shelter. Things humans had discarded, like old bandages. Silver knew how to clean them properly by this point, so it was fairly safe to reuse them, especially if there was no dried blood.
Boots sound against the broken sidewalk, Blaze was back at the shelter. He'd promised a swift return, and he wasn't having much luck finding anything. But what he did find, was a human, away from the settlement, which was uncommon.
Tumblr media
"Hey, you over there."
Silver's pace picked up, but he avoided using his psychokinesis. That was what humans feared the most from him, in his experience, so he only used it around them when absolutely necessary.
"It's dangerous around here, why don't you let me escort you back to the camp?"
