This took two months. Scriptwriting, storyboards, losing motivation etc. But I'm glad I finished it. It's not just some art I make, it's a way for me to safely process my own thoughts and feelings through my comfort character, Paul. So almost each comic I make is very dear to my heart and my experiences.

Cannon Movie Tales' 1987 adaptation of Hansel and Gretel will be released on Mediabook Blu-ray + DVD and standard Blu-ray on April 23 via MPI Home Video. It's a contemporary version of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale.

The family fantasy musical is directed by Len Talan from a script he co-wrote with Nancy Weems. David Warner, Hugh Pollard, Nicola Stapleton, Emily Richard, and Cloris Leachman star.

No special features are included.

Children of an impoverished woodcutter Hansel and Gretel get lost in the forest after birds have eaten the trail of breadcrumbs that was supposed to show them the way back home. They arrive at a strange house made entirely of gingerbread. The resident turns out to be a malicious witch who is extremely excited to fatten Hansel up so she can then put him on her menu...

Dr Pollard is Discovery's CMO, isn't she?

as i recall we were all like “wait what’s happening here? it doesn’t seem like hugh’s the guy but sometimes he’s in meetings so is he?? no, right?? but then who…?” and then we met pollard and she seemed like the sort of person who would love to tell the captain she could override his decisions so we went “oh thank god, an answer to this quandary” but no one ever actually called her that or gave us an org chart so it’s like a CMO until proven otherwise kind of situation.

After having to destroy the Spore Drive, Paul is dealing with some feelings of grief. On top of that, there's a recurring childhood memory that's bugging him, but he can't quite place where it's coming from. Dr Tracy Pollard has a shot at identifying it with him.

Comfortember Day 13: Losing Track of Time

“Sooo…. How was everyone’s day?” Caitlyn asks, twirling noodles around her fork. Her family sits crowded around a mess hall table looking equal parts happy and exhausted.

“Spore drive efficiency is up ten percent,” Paul offers. “And Jett brought licorice again. I think she just does it to piss me off.”

“She would, “ agrees Adira. “You two have that whole frenemies thing.”

Paul sniffs, “We are not ‘frenemies,’ we are coworkers who happen to annoy each other slightly more than average.” 

“You’re definitely frenemies,” Gray agrees.

“Ugh, what a word! Hugh, you’re awfully quiet.” 

The doctor smiles tiredly at his partner. “It’s just been a long day. Someone pressed the wrong button on the gravity controls and released gaseous deuterium in cargo bay two.”

“Ooh, that’s a mess,” Caitlyn winces. “Is everyone okay?”

“They will be, but Sickbay’s going to be very crowded for a few days.”

Paul gives the table a conspiratorial look. “Tracy called me to drag him away from work.”

The younger members of the group indicate their amusement in various ways: Caitlyn snorts, Adira rolls their eyes, and Gray grins like a Cheshire cat.

“I would have left soon anyway,” Hugh protests.

“I guess Doctor Pollard didn’t think so,” teases Adira.

Paul makes a placating gesture which involves almost knocking over Gray’s water glass with his elbow. “Alright, that’s enough. We’ve all been involved in similar incidents, so let’s let your father keep some of his dignity.”

But Caitlyn isn’t in the mood to drop it. “I didn’t think anyone in this family had any dignity left,” she says playfully.

Gray is more than happy to join in. “Maybe you don’t. I’m very respectable.” To emphasize the point, he picks up his glass and holds out his pinky finger in imitation of ancient Earth etiquette.

Caitlyn snorts, unimpressed: “I might be more inclined to believe you if there wasn’t lettuce in your hair.”

Gray laughs, reaching up to dislodge the offending vegetable matter. “I’m not the one with tomato sauce on their nose.”

“Hey! You’re making that up.”

Paul hands her a napkin, chuckling. “Sorry, kiddo; he really isn’t.”

The entire table descends into laughter as Caitlyn wipes her face. She’s blushing nearly as red as the sauce, but she laughs right along with them. “I walked right into that one, huh?”

“You totally did.”
