jackfalahee: Ooof i am proud of this guy. @conradricamora has been working on @herelieslovebway for over 10 years and is now making history as the first ever all-Filipino cast on broadway. The show is sensational and i can’t wait for the world to see it. Conrad, you’re nothing short of magic. I love you.
Congrats to the entire cast and crew. Shoutout to @davidkorins for the absolutely insane design. Like nothing I’ve ever seen on broadway.

If any of the followers wants to help, it'd be appreciated.
So. What's an adult TV series that has
complex/compelling female leads (don't have to be queer, but it's a bonus if there are some) or an ensemble cast with a lot of women,
an engaging story,
has a somewhat active/enthusiastic fandom on here (doesn't have to be HOTD or "Yellowjackets" levels of enthusiastic).
I dropped "Good Girls" again after finishing the first two episodes of season 4, because as much as I love the ladies, the arcs are repetitive af at this point.
I wanted to watch "The Good Fight" and "Black Sails," but I'm afraid they'll have to wait. "The L Word" and "Orphan Black" too.
Some of the series I enjoyed at some point:
"The Handmaid's Tale," OITNB, "I May Destroy You," "Unbelievable," "Veep," "Dead Ringers," "The Good Wife," "My Brilliant Friend," "The Returned," "Bad Sisters," "Chewing Gum," "Black Earth Rising," "Mrs. America," "GLOW," "Kevin Can Fuck Himself," "Big Little Lies," "Night Country," "Top of the Lake," "Godless," "Frontera Verde," "Ethos," "One Night," "The Power," "Girls5eva," "UnREAL," "Damages," "Insecure," "Unorthodox," "P-Valley," "Russian Doll," "Hacks," "Grace and Frankie," "Shining Girls," "Killing Eve," "Fleabag," "Why Women Kill," "Poker Face," "The Queen's Gambit," "Borgen," "Mare of Easttown," "Irma Vep," "Alias Grace," "Miss Sherlock," "Last Tango in Halifax," "The Fall," "The Bletchey Circle," "Servant," "We Are Lady Parts," "Made for Love," "Claws," "The Girlfriend Experience," "Dear White People," "Little Fires Everywhere," "Sharp Objects," "Lovecraft Country," “The Underground Railroad," "Under the Bridge," "Derry Girls" (<-a teen series, but I made an exception because everyone here told me it was worth it), “Station Eleven," "The Great," "Beef," "She's Gotta Have It," "Twenties," "Olive Kitteridge," "Enlightened," "Babylon Berlin," "Deadloch," "Vida," "Feel Good," "Gentleman Jack," "La Casa de las Flores" (<-never let it be said I don't enjoy millennial telenovelas).
Female fronted series I haven't finished:
HTGAWM, "Wentworth" (<-couldn't get into it).
Series I was/am kinda meh about:
"The Wilds" (<-"Yellowjackets" all the way), "Dead to Me," "Roar," "The Fosters," "Lost Girl," "Westworld" (<-post season 1), "The Haunting of Bly Manor" (not big on Flanagan's works), “Bridgerton," "Ratched," "Dickinson."
Series I haven't tried yet:
"The Diplomat," "Harlots," "Gilded Age," "The Bold Type" (<-surprisingly, it doesn't seem like my thing), "Workin' Moms," "Girlfriends Guide to Divorce," "Happy Valley," "Halt and Catch Fire," "West Wing," "Broadchurch," "The Split," "A Small Light," "Scandal," "For All Mankind," "Mindhunter," "Sense8," "1899," "Utopia," "Transparent," "The Morning Show," "Rain Dogs," The Mindy Project," "Vigil," "High Fidelity," "Only Murders in the Building," "Julia," "Pen15," "Weeds," "Girls."

I'm sorry, but we are not going to pretend that a British white man working with black people is the same as a black woman working with black costars. Again I recommend people to listen to the interviews of Halle Berry and Angela Bassett about how few roles they were offered after winning the Oscar for Best Actress (Halle) and being a Best Actress nominee (Angela, for a performance that was the best in its year). Racism in Hollywood runs deep and Black women are relegated to supporting roles or to "black projects". Plus Z has to contend with the issue that she's light-skinned, so being the lead of a majority-black project would be frowned upon. She's trying to establish herself as a lead adult female dramatic actress and she just released a couple of months ago her first widely released theatrical movie where she's the lead. Z herself said that even after her Best Actress Emmy win what she was being offered was two-dimensional "girlfriend" roles. And let's remember that her first movie that had limited theatrical release and where she was a lead she had a dark skin black love costar (a movie she co-financed).
So let's stop the silly comparisons equating the experiences of white men and black women in Hollywood. They will necessarily have very different paths
Tumblr media
Ohhhh....here we go again..... 🙄😒
Nobody is saying that Z has the same exact opportunities that her white, male, counterparts do. I think everyone realizes that Hollywood is still racist and colorist to some degree.
Nobody is even saying that she is getting a plethora of great roles her way after 2 Emmy wins. Most woc don't get that luxury after we win awards. Another thing is that even white women in Hollywood get regulated to girlfriend and "hot girl" roles in the industry. The roles for women in HW can be sucky just all around.
What SOME Z fans are saying however is that OTHER Black actresses in Hollywood can work with Black actors in films, and so can Z. I think the excuses are starting to seem a little side-eye worthy at this point.
Halle has worked with Black people in her film career. THEE Viola Davis just did "The Woman King" with a fully Black cast. She was also in HTGAWM with other Black cast members.
Many fans just don't see why Z can't do the same? 🥴🤷🏾‍♀️ That's all fans are saying. I also don't think that Z playing one of the leads in a fully Black film would be as horrible as you might think. People will see a movie if it looks interesting, point blank. Plus, Z already gets flack from racists for playing MJ in the Spiderman Franchise, so what's the difference?🤔 She will continue to ignore the nonsense from ignorant people, and continue to do her. That's what you do! Almost EVERY actor has gotten some hate for being linked to a role. It doesn't change the fact that the film keeps filming, and it eventually releases (and most ppl change their mind about the actor in the role rofl 🤣).
Not only that, but plenty of biracial women have played in lead roles in "Black" films before. Halle has done it before. 🤷🏾‍♀️ Thandie Newton has done it before. Jurnee Smollett has done it before. And not only that, but the Black community LOVES Z. They'd support her if the film is done well.
I don't think that anyone is trying to compare Z to White, British men in Hollywood. They're just saying how it's kinda sad that even her bf has worked with more BW in films than even she has, and yet, she's the one who's always preaching about working with "Black Creatives".
I'm pretty sure Z will one day work with more Black creatives in Hollywood in her films, so that's why I'm not even worried. But to act like it's not a little strange to continue to make excuse after excuse, after excuse is a little naïve to me. When do you stop making excuses? 🤔

wait i’m gonna be so annoying and have a final thoughts here
the aesthetic & main romance has just really fallen off. they are incapable of sticking the landing in the third act & while they still have some good looks, i think there’s a certain level of playing it too safe (see Kate’s wardrobe!!!!!) and also just, bizarre makeup choices that were a bit distracting.
they also just don’t know how to keep a character waiting for their romance while building that character up over several arcs. kind of a bad trait to have for a tv show?? 😭😭 like, i love them with all my heart, but everyone has said that eloise, benedict, & colin have felt so confused at points as characters, like the writers didn’t know where to go with them. they’re just waiting for their romance instead of like, growing.
Colin was the male lead what do we even know about him beyond his inability to interact with a woman without projecting onto her.
once again the milfs outsold, agatha and violet are the best thing about this series and i don’t care how much i like violet’s lil thing with agatha’s brother, i want those two gossipy old milfs to kiss sloppy style.
it’s too goddamn short, i think this wasn’t a problem in s1 or qc bc it’s the First season so there’s not as many characters to follow but they keep introducing all these other characters that take space away from a) The Main Couple and b) The Bridgertons As A Family, and those are the draws of the series!! it’s too much for only 8 episodes, what happened to 12-18 episodes for high budget or cable shows, if they had these people on like Normal tv contracts they wouldn’t have such a hard time scheduling and have these long ass waits between seasons Either, im tired of this and i blame the duffer brothers and i want those two nerds hunted for sport.
also hyacinth and gregory are getting SO OLD OMG HURRY UP 😭😭😭
i think they did a better job this season with folding the siblings in together but it feels disjointed from s2. anthony & kate specifically feel very oddly thrown in there and idgi. i loved seeing the bridgertons using calling times as an excuse for Group Hangs, and i loved the way John pointed this out to Francesca. i liked that the ending with benedict where he’s realizing he’s the oldest still left at home with two like, toddler siblings and feeling unhappy with it, but bc they struggle with incorporating all the siblings together, we really lose that thread from last season between him & anthony that could have given benedict a way to explore his sexuality in a slutty way while also giving anthony something to do & not drop the art school thing. however, this is all detailed and would take a lot of time and they only have eight episodes. why. do 13-18 or im gonna start sending death threats to ceos. for legal reasons that’s a joke haha.
i do think in the few kathony scenes we got, they nailed the dynamic that she is the world’s most put upon eldest daughterson and he needs to be institutionalized. pls put jonathan bailey and simone ashley in another thing together so i can see them together again. this can’t be the end. be the next tom hanks and meg ryan please. he george clooney and julia roberts. i’m on my knees here.
am i allowed to say i’m glad we got a long devirginizing scene like in s1 & qc but also we did not see Nearly enough of those two fucking. more than kathony but imo still not on the level of the other two. also you could write an essay here about the sex politics of this show. i will refrain and say Is This Not The Pervert’s Show?? Can we Please get better pandering????
i think no one can handle a big cast like shonda not even her hand picked teams. qc handled having a host of characters so much better. early grey’s is really great at this. htgawm is good at this. u can tell what season she was really In That Writer’s Room. shonda pls get back in the writer’s room i need something as emotionally devastating as “meredith i’m so sorry” “you must be the woman whose screwing my husband” i need sexy like the “teach me” scene but with the freedom of streaming to get freaky with it, this cast WANTS to deliver but netflix & these writers are NOT up to the challenge!!!
i love bi benedict. even if nothing else comes of this i didn’t think they’d genuinely have benedict get intimate with and acknowledge being attracted to a man. genuinely really jazzed about that. but they Have said they want to explore his ~fluidity more and there’s so many scenarios that could be, i have no idea what the hell they mean by that askksjd. crossdressing sophie, genderbent to solomon, a trans sophie/solomon of some persuasion, im excited to see where they go!
BI FRANCESCA. MICHAELA STIRLING. PEOPLE ARE HATING BUT YOU HAVE MY ATTENTION. esp bc you could do a michaela that has like, resigned herself to a life of never feeling love only to fall in love At Her Cousin’s Wedding so well with this. these three, michaela francesca john, are gonna break my HEART i’m READY for it!
i want the resolution to one of the gay couples to include brimsley & reynolds encouraging charlotte to cure society of homophobia somehow. if we can do this with racism we can do it with homophobia. why the hell not.
listen to me. listen closely. are you listening. if we don’t get lesbian eloise what are we even fucking doing here. enough fucking around. give me a real sign this is all going somewhere. i am no longer asking.

Romy Rosemont
Played Lola Peterson, a woman desperate to grab the attention of her distant husband in episode 2x08 of 9-1-1 (fox). She and her husband Norman (played by Daniel Roebuck) returned on the ill-fated cruise ship for season 7.

Romy is from New York but now lives in LA. She is married to character actor and academy member, Stephen Root.
In the past, Romy has appeared on Glee (seasons 1-6) as Carole Hudson. Also as Jacqui Franco in CSI.

She has been a guest actor on a multitude of TV series since the late 80's: including Chicago Med, Station 19, Brooklyn 99, and HTGAWM. In 'Ghost Whisperer' she acted opposite our own JLH, and Romy also appeared in 'Six Feet Under' with Peter Krause.

How much do you want to bet that JD still brags about how progressive he was with TW casting and storylines? He's probably like 'Look at me casting all these POC actors and writing LGBT characters for TW' and fails to mention that he either killed off the POC and LGBT characters or had them disappear.
Oh absolutely. In his mind, I’m sure he thinks that Teen Wolf paved the way for all the brilliant shows that have actual queer representation in them.
I was talking about this on twitter and about how it’s so embarrassing for them to think that TW had great queer rep when shows like Shadowhunters and HTGAWM were airing during the same time & actually had queer leads. Unlike Teen Wolf.

What are the worst casted (cast) shows do you think in terms of chemistry in terms of like nothing about these shows work?
I am a fan of your blog so I know a few like Riverdale, Shadowhunters (expect for Jace and Alec), The Flash, The Originals. Are there any others?
And then what are some of the best casted (cast) shows in terms of chemistry, in terms of this just works.
Also, why do you think that casting directors get chemistry so wrong? Like Shonda Rhimes is known for working with the same crew on all of her productions and they did Scandal and HTGAWM where the cast just worked well together and the chemistry between all was so well done but now she’s doing Bridgerton where the chemistry is just not there even though she works with the same crew who cast Scandal. So, why do you think that casting directors (not just Shonda) are getting chemistry so wrong?
I read through your “Actors, Directors…chemistry between characters” and they say that it’s something you can’t fake, and it’s there if it’s there. But then why do they get it wrong sometimes? Why cast actors with no chemistry if you can feel it, or you can not feel it?
Hmm, it's a lot easier to talk about shows where it all just works, like The Bear is a cast where the chemistry is excellent
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
because they all riff off each other incredibly well, hitting all the points, there's a fluidity to that cast that is necessary for everything that they do with each other. For Carmy to call Richie 'cousin' even though they're not related, JAW and Ebon have to have the chemistry to pull off that kind of closeness, to be like family, where you don't feel any hesitation or distance or coldness, they just have to go there
Tumblr media
For Syd to go through the various emotions that she does with Marcus depending on the stress level of the kitchen plus that flirty awkwardness, Ayo and Lionel need to have chemistry.
Tumblr media
In fact, 2x06, which I consider to be the best episode of the series so far was really interesting because there were moments in the episode that didn't flow as well as other episodes because of all of the guest stars and they didn't have the same kind of fluidity and familiarity that the core cast had, which worked for the episode considering the themes of the episode but I was like, yeah it's a bit more jarring to watch the interactions because they don't have the same kind of chemistry.
Succession is another one where it just works in a way you don't think it does because it's a naturally awkward show but I mean, these are siblings
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so i liked when sarah snook said they kept doing the scene over and over and then kieran asked her if he could slap her for real during one take and she said ok and so he did and then something in her reacted the way you would to a sibling and she just went after him. she was like you can see it in my eyes i just turned
Tumblr media
and they just started wrestling the way siblings would and that’s the take they used and it makes sense because that scene is really organic.
That 70s Show, when I did the rewatch a few months ago, I re-realized that they had lightning in a bottle with that cast and there was such a commitment that I don't see in shows now
like if you want to talk about a show that really goes for it, T70s isn’t brought up nearly enough, they committed to the physicality of a scene
Tumblr media Tumblr media
like in general
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and I'm talking a lot about commitment and trusting your scene partner, which is definitely a part but it's not just that. Like in TGP, Kristen Bell commits to Eleanor's love for Chidi, there's a particular scene where she's insisting that they wake him up, and she's explaining why they need Chidi and you hear how much she loves him in her voice and see it in her expressions
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I believe Eleanor in that moment because Kristen is committed to the scene but together they don't have romantic chemistry, it just doesn't work in that framing
I talk about the cast chemistry in Breaking Bad
Elite was a quasi-fascinating viewing experience because in season 1, everyone was paired with the people they had chemistry with that it made me forgive a lot, like, a lot of plot and narrative holes
and then from season 2 onward, they started mixing the actors up and it didn't gel as well and I was like, you messed with a good thing.
Gossip Girl was also a cast with chemistry
In terms of shows that don't...I usually block the shows out, lmao.
I can't really expand on this because I only saw half an episode, initium had Supergirl on at her place once and I had such a violent reaction to it that she changed the channel and she never changes the channel when I don't like something, she makes me stew in it (that's how I ended up watching Riverdale and Shadowhunters in the first place) but it was just ... bad, like, stilted and dry and flat, I just remember being like
Tumblr media
It's weird to talk about Mindhunter in terms of cast because it's about two FBI agents but I remember, I couldn't get into it, couldn't get into the plot because it was centered around these two agents and they were so stiff and flat with each other and I expected a chemistry like season 1 of True Detective, Woody Harrelson and Matthew Mcconaughey worked well together, they vibed, and immersed me in their relationship, which was tense, and their case.
Regarding why and/or how casting directors/EPs etc. miss chemistry with certain casts or leads, I'm not really sure how that happens, I couldn't guess, haha.

Euphoria update

X
Thanks Anon! 🥰
I thought these comments under the post were interesting.... 👀
Tumblr media
☝🏾☝🏾 I've been saying this for years now (esp about Zendaya), but I was dragged by my edges when I said this years ago.
Zendaya does not need this show imo. And now, some of the others are also getting successful as well, so now it's going to look even MORE weird for them to come back.
You can tell that most of them want to be doing MOVIE acting.
It's one thing to be a successful, A-list movie star who chooses to go to TV later on in their career to star in a great series or TV show program that gets a lot of critical acclaim (think of Viola Davis in HTGAWM for example), vs. you doing a TV show when your star in Hollywood was rising, or you felt like you needed to prove yourself and hone your acting skills, and NOW you're getting all of these big movie parts, have won a few awards now, and are getting more and more successful in the film and big-screen arena, but then going BACK to the TV show where you were still trying to make your start. 🥴
It's a mind-fck if you ask me. 👀
I can't tell anyone what to do, but MY wish would be for them to wrap up this cast of Euphoria with a nice little time jump, and film about 3 episodes showing where each of the cast members are right now, and then tie up the show with this cast in a nice, neat, little bow, and allow the cast to really spread their wings in Hollywood. Cuz they're all going places in they play their cards right. Some of them have ALREADY gone places.
Jmho 🤷🏾‍♀️
Then, if Sam wishes to start Euphoria up again with an entirely whole NEW (younger) cast, he can go ahead and do that. 🤷🏾‍♀️
This current cast is pushing 30s REAL hard lol.... Just saying lol... 😂
These comments below had me cracking up lol 🤭
Tumblr media
Looks like Sydney isn't too excited about coming back, and if HBO is hesitant about throwing money Sam's way after The Idol disaster, then oh well! 😂

She wrote a lot of Private Practice(IMDB can tell you exactly which ones) but HTGAWM was only produced by her Shondaland company she had no involvement in writing, casting, plot etc. The showrunner of that show is a gay man.
While I'd argue that being a producer means you have more than "no involvement" in things such as plot, i will retract my statement that Shonda was specifically responsible for the biphobic writing
That said, there is still quite the correlation between the two that i just find interesting
