HERMES WAS A SELFISH PERSON, they take whatever thanatos wants to give them, and cherish it like a true gift from an aeon. yaoshi shudders from the thought. they always want him close, and miss him when he's gone. they know it's wrong of them, to drag him back to them.

and yet, they don't stop it when he returns. he's the one good thing they have, and despite them ruining everything between them... he still comes back to them.

"and if the devil loves you?" they whisper back, as if they're scared to hear the answer. "i'm cursed enough for the both of us, i think lan knows that." their fragile tone refuses to leave, but in placing another kiss to than's neck, they try to wash it away. they want to keep living in this moment, of finally being loved after all of this. after knowing with each passing day, there is the threat of yaoshi growing tired of this dance between the two of them, between aeon and mortal. "yaoshi isn't pleased either, but what else is new?..."

HE SHOULD KNOW BETTER THAN THIS, should know better than to allow hermes into his space again. not after what they did to him. but here thanatos is, allowing the avatar of yaoshi to wriggle their way into his heart all over again. lan's most loyal pathstrider sighs as they wrap an arm around him, even leans in to indulge them with kisses that burn upon contact. their touches only sear his skin, but thanatos does not care in the slightest.

in other words, not at all.

' dare i dance with the devil again ? ' thanatos inquires with such conviction that it's almost sultry. he doesn't allow himself to yield oneself to such desires often, but just this once, the man succumbs. of course, it's never going to just be the one time, but a man can convince himself otherwise until he believes it to be the utmost of truths to uphold.
