HOW TO GET EQUALITY, FREEDOM, JUSTICE, AND UNIVERSAL RIGHTS IN SO-CALLED ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF PAKISTAN!

Seventy-five years ago, the world came together to declare that human dignity, freedom and justice are universal, and non-negotiable.

We must stand firm against rising intolerance and build a future of dignity, security, justice & human rights for all.

—UN Secretary-General António Guterres

The year 2023 appears to be an especially difficult year to celebrate human rights day, but then again, which year is not difficult. Whether it is a violation against an individual or a mass atrocity in a war, the current state of the global human rights agenda should leave us all gravely concerned, but always vigilant. If anything, it is precisely in these turbulent times that our collective resolve must focus on reimagining — and ultimately realizing — a future where dignity, security, justice and human rights are not just ideals, but realities for everyone. This International Human Rights Day, as we commemorate 75 years since the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), it is incumbent upon all of us to reflect on the journey thus far and the road ahead, especially for nations like Pakistan.

On December 10, 1948, in the aftermath of World War II’s devastation, and three years of the adoption of the 1945 United Nations (UN) Charter, nations came together again to unanimously adopt a declaration with a promise to future generations: a world where the horrors of war and the pain of injustice would not be repeated. Building on the opening words of the UN Charter “…to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person…to practice tolerance and live in peace with one another as good neighbors…”, the UDHR establishes range of fundamentals that form the bedrock of human dignity and freedom.

These rights include, but are not limited to, protection from torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment; the right to freedom of thought, conscience, religion or belief; the freedoms of opinion and expression, association and peaceful assembly; the right to form and join trade unions, and others. There is no quid-pro-quo on fundamental rights, nor are these rights considered privileges. Rather, they are recognized as inherent at birth, irrespective of nationality or allegiance.

It was clear, therefore, to the founders of the United Nations that any prospects for enduring peace and security could only be guaranteed when human rights were embraced and respected, with the primacy of individual human dignity at the centre of a universal framework all nations would observe.

Rather than being a static snapshot of the state of the world 75 years ago, the UDHR’s universal principles have inspired over seventy human rights treaties since 1948. Its relevance today is as significant as it was 75 years ago, perhaps even more so in a world where forces — large and small, individual and institutional — repeatedly and unashamedly stray away those very principles. That is why commemorations, like this 75th of the UHDR, are moment to pause and collectively reflect on how to get back on course.

In Pakistan, the UDHR has laid the foundation for an evolving human rights framework, particularly focusing on vulnerable groups such as women, children and persons with disabilities. As an original signatory to the UHDR in 1948 and subsequently signing seven core human rights treaties, and as a current member of the Human Rights Council, Pakistan has shown a clear political commitment to these universal values. These legally binding treaties place a critical responsibility on the state to ensure that the rights enshrined therein are not violated, and where violations do take place, adequate mechanisms for redressal of these violations are available. Recent legislative reforms, like the Zainab Alert, Response and Recovery Act, the ICT Child Protection Act of 2018, and the Juvenile Justice System Act of 2018, all signify Pakistan’s efforts toward fulfilling its human rights obligations.

Yet, like others, Pakistan’s journey is far from complete. A look at equitable access to basic services and inclusion will reveal as much. UNDP’s 2021 National Human Development Report reveals alarming statistics: only 6% of Pakistan’s youth have access to higher education, while a staggering 29% have no access to education at all. Approximately 9.45 million children are not enrolled in primary schools despite Pakistan’s constitutional commitment to free and universal education. Gender disparity is another critical issue, affecting 39% of young people. The digital divide among women and men further exacerbates these inequalities, with just 50% of women owning a mobile phone compared to 81% of men. This ratio is equivalent to 22 million fewer women than men owning a mobile phone. Women in Pakistan are 49% less likely to use mobile internet than men, which translates into 12 million fewer women than men using mobile internet. This means women and girls in Pakistan face significantly disproportionate limitation in their ability to benefit from the opportunities provided by digital transformation. Furthermore, a mere 4% of the country’s youth are actively seeking employment and 57% remaining disconnected from employment opportunities.

Any reflection on Human Rights and UDHR must also acknowledge the need to continuously advocate for expanding, not shrinking, civic space. Protected under Article 17 of Pakistan’s Constitution, this space is courageously filled with national human rights institutions and commissions, with civil society organizations and an array of individual human rights defenders and champions fighting for women and children, for environmental justice, for laborers, for the transgender community, for access to information and freedom of expression, for persons with disabilities, for religious tolerance and more. International Human Rights Day is a potent reminder of the crucial significance of and need for committed protection of the civil society by the state under its national and international human rights obligations.

These challenges underscore the urgent need for renewed focus and action. As Pakistan approaches its General Election in 2024, it is an opportune moment to press upon leaders and stakeholders the importance of reinvigorating Pakistan’s commitments enshrined in the UDHR. This is not just a call for policy change but a call to embrace the UDHR as a living document that underpins the achievement of the Pakistan’s Sustainable Development.

Deepfakes rely on a form of artificial intelligence (known as deep learning) to create fabricated digital narratives; they can turn people into talking puppets, and convincingly depict events that never happened. In short, they mean that we can no longer trust our eyes.

What are your predictions around how deepfake technology will evolve in 2024?

1. We will see an increasing number of attempts to utilize deepfakes — in the form of voicefakes, used for exploitation by cyber criminals — for financial gain and extortion.

These will increasingly be utilized for deep social engineering and impersonation of CEO and C-suite officers, board members and financial transaction owners.

I think it is highly probable that we will see direct malicious attacks using deepfake video against a publicly traded organization in 2024; with the intent to derail, disrupt, destabilize, or financially harm the organization and its shareholders.

2. We will see an increase in deepfake videos that impersonate private sector executives and authority figures in government.

These will be created by hacktivists, nation states and proxy actors for disruption, destabilization and disinformation, fomenting division and ultimately leading to election interference.

We will also see an increase in use of deepfake video technology for the purpose of generating non-consensual pornography and child exploitation.

3. We will see acceleration of synthetically generated content shared on the internet and virally disseminated via social media platforms. Media groups, advertisers, big tech platforms, news bots, and social engineering bots will rapidly spread this synthetic content.

It will become increasingly challenging to identify content that is created by humans vs. that generated by generative AI.

Best practices for deepfake prevention? How can organizations avoid being duped by deepfakes?

Right now, it is very difficult to detect synthetically generated content; whether deepfake video, audio, images, or news. And the technology is getting better.

ChatGPT and Large Language Models will accelerate the creation and distribution of deepfakes. Three key focus areas can help organizations and people from being defrauded or manipulated by deepfake technologies:

1. Training, awareness and preparation related to organizational use and consumption of generative AI and awareness around malicious deepfake content is absolutely crucial.

This awareness training must be delivered to all employees within enterprises and organizations, with special attention to training and awareness for the C-level and board, for officers, and for organizational financial custodians.

Business process reviews with separation of duties and “chain of custody” protocols for financial transaction management must be reviewed asap and shored up.

Organizations need to prepare for incident handling and response, and need to have a communications plan, should deepfakes be used against the organization.

2. Create guardrails defining which groups within your organization can use generative AI, and for what purposes. If your marketing department uses generative AI for creating synthetic videos, ensure that the right people are using the approved tools and platforms. Your organization can create a launch pad for organizationally approved generative AI platforms access. Cyber security solutions providers can enforce generative AI policies on security gateways.

3. It is unlikely that detection technologies will be able to keep up with the rapid acceleration of tools and platforms used to create generative AI and deepfakes. And detection requires yet another step to determine whether the deepfake content is malicious, illicit or benign.

These challenges will demand the development of zero trust principles around generative AI models (NIST AI Risk Management Framework), as well as clear identification, labeling, and authenticity verification mechanisms for AI-generated content that is posted to social media platforms.

Think outside of the box in your tabletop exercises and identify the potential ways a malicious executive deepfake would cause your organization the most harm. Prepare for this.

For mitigating use of deepfake technologies in the context of financial fraud, ensure that there are human validations and authentications for all steps in the financial transaction process, with separation of duties and multiple humans having the “nuke codes” for authorizing financial transactions.

Be sure to add or expand AI-based threat intelligence and proactive threat blocking within your organization.

Last, but not least, your HR teams need to understand that deepfake technologies have been used by prospective ‘job candidates’ in the hiring process, including in “face swapping” incidents. Take proper investigative steps to ensure that candidates are indeed who they say that they are.

Grading is company based right? Employment and appointment are greatly affected by preference. What I don't like is for my capability to be equated or to be deemed less than their preferences. That's why I am nagging them of their incapabilities and laziness. Lack of initiative. See... who would respect me? I make mistake that's true, because I was obliged to do so many different things. It was difficult to revert.

Anything impromptu is informal. How to formalize? Visual aids. Without that we are just like ordinary employees asked to passed info to their colleagues. They don't want to validate us? ICT is important nowadays and it's all around us. In the field of communication, It has revolutionized the way individuals interact and share information. The advent of the Internet, email and social media has bridged geographical distances, allowing for instantaneous communication on a global scale. This connection not only improves personal relationships but also redefines professional communication and collaboration.

In home, ICT encourages communication, amusement, and mechanization at domestic. Shrewd gadgets, web network, and computerized stages make it less demanding to oversee assignments, interface with family and companions, and to get data. This is why ICT is important to our house.

In school, ICT upgrades instruction through online assets, e-learning stages, and collaborative devices. Understudies can get to a riches of data, take an interest in virtual classes, and lock in in intelligently learning encounters. It helps me in my education and it make my life easier.

In communication, ICT empowers communication and collaboration inside communities. Social media, informing apps, and online gatherings interface individuals, cultivating the trade of thoughts, data, and bolster. Also, innovation can enable communities through activities like online activism and crowdfunding. ICT plays significant role in Communication because without this we can't invent texts and calls.

In conclusion, the future of it holds many promises and challenges. Artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things will further reshape the way we live and work. Addressing issues such as digital literacy but I'm always thankful that ICT got invented.

November week 2 trading

i told my self that I will enter a short if I see the price go back to 0.62 level

if i could go back and change something on this trade what would it be?

What are the realizations I had on this trade?

What should I avoid doing next time? Answers: 1. IF I COULD GO BACK AND CHANGE SOMETHING ABOUT THIS TRADE WHAT WOULD IT BE? -To take my profit and the end of the day. I've had more than 100 usd profit by the end of the day but I was hesitant to take it, probably because I am not consistent with my trade yet. It's not all the time I get to capture a trade that actually moves in my favor. Well, at least for a while before the price went back and hit my stoploss. 2. What are the realizations I had on this trade? -I realized that ICT's time and price theory exists. I saw it firsthand when I saw the price move back to 0.62 level in the 1-hour chart. -I saw how the price went back to FVG level to balance and rebalance the imbalances in price delivery. -Briefly, the price moved in the opposite direction, taking the Buy side liquidity. -like what ICT said, it is very important to have a bias and stick to it. because believing that the price would go down for that day made me not panic when the price went above my entry. -I realized that I could only win if I put myself in the market. -I also realized that I can be a day trader. -I realized that I don't need to trade with so much leverage. But what I need is a bigger capital to earn what I want to earn on each trade. 3. What should I avoid doing next time? I probably should avoid being greedy and just take what I can for the day. -If I entered a trade in the middle of the range, I should not overstay because the price likes to go back up to take out BSL, and discouraging the new traders about their trade and be forced to close it.
