#How to Construct a Website

I truly, TRULY do not know how to say this, because the fact that I have to say it makes me feel like I am losing my grip on reality. But no, in the post-capitalistic anarchist utopia, I will not be relying on “autistic minecraft girlies” to be building inspectors because - and this may shock you - one of those occupations takes years of education in how to read and interpret hundreds of thousands of lines of regulations based on complicated math and physics that were the result of decades of tragedy and death, and the other one involves playing a children’s video game.
#i am begging this website. BEGGING it. to stop acting like building codes are state oppression#and please stop reducing blue collar jobs to 'so easy any handyman could do it with a youtube video'#that's how people fucking die#i didn't spend five years learning how to do my job safely to watch people online tell me it could've just been a course in high school#i know that this is like. a minority minority opinion and not really worth getting worked up over#but it's so annoying to see supposed leftists denigrating blue collar jobs like this#same poster also opined that we won't need garbagemen#because 'if the trash is bothering people they'll figure out a way to clean it without having to pick it up'#like what??? does that even fucking mean????#construction

#i genuinely think some leftists on this website care more about taking a shit on the libs so they can feel#morally and intellectually superior and self righteous than they do about doing fucking anything within their own power to combat fascism#it is one thing to hold the corrupt establishment accountable and another thing entirely to just refuse to participate#in any kind of political action that isn't protesting#and don't misunderstand me protesting is something we SHOULD do#but you cannot FIX the problems if you are point blank unwilling to settle for anything less than The Revolution#because knowing literally anything about the history of revolutionary movements in the world will tell you that even when they succeed#the process of then creating something better in their place is long and difficult and boring and highly complex#and just as vulnerable to abuse and corruption than the thing they're replacing if not moreso because of the instability that comes#with throwing down an old regime via armed conflict#i don't know what these people fucking want is what i am getting at bc a better world does not magically spring up in the aftermath of war#like do you want to work to FIX the shitty house we all have to live in or do you just want to burn it down with no organized plan#or willingness to work with people you don't entirely agree with to build a new one?#like i am not even necessarily AGAINST burning the shitty old house down but frankly i don't think any of you fuckers#know anything about construction#or project management#and also by the way there will definitely be innocent people who do not deserve it who will die in the house fire#many of whom will be the most vulnerable people among us who will have the hardest time getting out of that house fire#if we can't get our shit together enough to cooperate now how exactly the fuck do you expect to do it when the time comes to BUILD#instead of tear down?

soo many of u guys on this website are like. offputtingly angry and vicious and slavering at at the mouth to gloat at bad things happening to some nebulous incarnation of 'rich evil people'.
#like i just don't understand it..... i didn't get it when it was the boat thing i don't get it w the burning man thing...#i get the satisfaction of gloating at 'bad people who get whats coming to them!!!!!' but hows gloating over some undefined#vague type of Bad Person (because no one ever knows shit about the person who gets it until the bad thing happens)#making u actively happier or ur life actively nicer or better... u could be doing something constructive with#those emotions! instead of going HAHAHAHSHSHS KILL THE DISGUSTING RICH on a dead website...#anyway idk. my first thought with the burning man thing was 'oh man i know that's thr shitty techbro thing now but i bet#there's still just a lot of normal people without massive RVs who just enjoy coming there yearly... i hope they're ok!'#not EVERYONE WHO GOES THERE IS ONTOLOGICALLY EVIL AND OBVIOUSLY A SILICONE VALLEY SYNCOPHANT.#idk. obviously this isn't important im not a fucking cop. u can do whatever u want im not saying whatever is#Right or Wrong. it just is more important 2 me specifically 2 try and have my kneejerk reaction be compassion even#if its something that i personally think sucks. which maybe makes me a centerist to some people? who give a shit.#anyway. i used 2 be like this and then i realized that it wasn't making me happier or#my life any better and also anything that inconveniences someone who's truly obscenely wealthy will just hurt more normal people around the#than the person themself. hdktjfd#txt

something difficult about writing/storytelling but only in short disconnected bursts is that writing anything longform is very difficult. there isn't as much time to practice long-term character development or subtlety (implying character instead of immediately clarifying) when its not really meant to go anywhere but a notes app. its a little frustrating...i'd love to do something more longform though. i've considered maybe just doing some short writing scenes in my various original universes a lot recently mostly because i just havent had time to draw anything fancy recently </3 maybe that would be something...
#briefly talked about it with a coworker today bc i mentioned my brother makes music#and she got excited because she paints and she showed me some of her work (beautiful btw!!!)#and said she hopes he pursues music and doesnt get his heart crushed by retail like we do#we still make things but ive been thinking about it...it really is like#i feel like ive had less TIME to make things but ive also developed more interest in my own ideas#and in constructing them on their own terms. its hard to describe and even harder to share because its#not churning out fanart for a response i guess?#i dont know. i do feel more satisfied with what im planning but theres less to share#anyway i promised her i'd show her my art sometime so essentially i have to flee the country now#she does lovely work she paints pictures of pets and it seems so nice. she seems so happy with it!#its like...i love it. im a little jealous of it. i feel so much pressure to Do Something New with my art#try to craft scenes and settings (i think setting is such ann important part of storytelling but i have so much trouble drawing it!)#and try new compositions and poses and just not have everything look the same all the time#its led to a lot of work im proud of but its also hard to create under those expectations...#i wish i could find a niche and settle into it comfortably. i think fun character drawings could be that for me#but its...it frustrates me to post those because it feels like if its easy and i like doing it and how it turns out then im not trying#okay i think im done now. sorry for these rambling introspective posts lately lol im#trying to warm back up to posting so i can use this website again (despite how very very bad it is)...#i want to see my frieeeeeends <//////3 i want to be here without running away <///3

having a very specific webseries you absolutely hate is so funny bc theres like 15 fans collectively and if i talked about how much i hated it, i dont think anyone would have any idea what im talking about

Okay, I'm having trouble matching sources for all of OP's claims.
I'm certainly not calling OP a liar or claiming that American Education Is Good, Actually, because I'm pretty familiar with the commonly cited statistic that American adults can't read above a 5th grade level (here's a snopes article sourcing some Gallup data and the linked PIAAC data that's a little more readable especially if you're on mobile), but it's worth emphasizing here that:
The PIAAC skills results (i.e., proficiency levels) do not specifically correspond to measures such as grade levels at school. The PIAAC proficiency levels have a use-oriented conception of competency and focus on describing what types of tasks adults at each level can typically do and their ability to apply information from the task to accomplish goals they may encounter in everyday life; for example, identifying a job search result that meets certain criteria.
The PIAAC does test comprehension and proficiency for interpreting data (not just vocab, as many of the replies and reblogs first expected), and while the US is decently behind the top two countries measured this way (Japan and Finland), it's ahead of the international average for this metric.
The second source link also suggests some heavy deficits in how US education teaches children to read (and makes what seem to me compelling arguments for improvements, though I don't specialize in early childhood education and am not familiar enough to judge their relevance), but does not contextualize this or compare it to any kind of international average.
I understand the initial distress of OP's claim that Americans can't read above an elementary school level, but journalists and publications are fully aware of this, and many have guidelines and standards for writing that take that into account (e.g. in my journalism classes, I was told to aim for a 6th grade reading level or lower and shown specific guidelines for how to make information accessible and minimize jargon. The US government and CDC aim specifically for 3rd–5th grade reading levels. The NYT aims higher, and your local publications may vary, but news is meant to be accessible, so the range could be closer to a 5th—9th grade reading level on average). Therefore, it's not at all accurate that people below a 6th grade reading level only have access to TV and video.
More accurately to the PIAAC data, 18% or so might have trouble with being able to read simple articles or web pages, but once again the US meets the PIAAC international average here (23% at literacy level 1 or below).
I've done my best to review the PIAAC data, but I'm simply not finding any backing for the claim that 55% of US adults cannot read long texts at all.
This appears to be a pretty clear misinterpretation of the data.
Quick question, genuine question:
Why on earth does "more than half of US adults under 30 cannot read above an elementary school level" not strike horror into the heart of everyone who hears it?
Are the implications of it unclear????
I'm serious, people keep reacting with a sort of vague dismissal when I point this out, and I want to know why!
If adults in the US cannot read, then the only information they have access to is TV and video, the spaces with the most egregious and horrific misinformation!
If they cannot read, they cannot escape that misinformation.
This obscene lack of literacy should strike fear into every heart! US TV is notoriously horrific propaganda!
Is that???? Not??? Obvious???????
I know this sounds sarcastic, I know it does, but I'm completely serious here. I do not understand where the disconnect is.
#this was a fun research rabbit hole. I think it's not always constructive to take US education as a whole monolith either.#Literacy and education rates can vary pretty severely by region so ymmv pretty severely#and the PIAAC data does go as specific as US county averages#it's also relevant to note that the PIAAC data for the US does go back years—but they changed methods a few times#so most of what's on their website is the 2012/2014 and 2017 surveys and is not reflective of the entire history of their data#because the older data might not compare as smoothly given the change in methodology. so I only looked at the recent data.#also the PIAAC website isn't really geared for readability esp on mobile. it's a lot of research jargon so like.#might not be the most accessible reference for trying to share info on tumblr?#also PIAAC being kind of the Big Source for this it's relevant once again that OP clearly wasn't using them as the primary source for#'adults under 30' as their data is divided into 16–24 and 25–34 age brackets.#once again while the PIAAC's info was used to find the elementary school level reading statistic that's not ACTUALLY what they measure#all this to say that the constant barrage of misinfo and poor media literacy is definitely a problem#but it's uh I think a little more complex than 'US early childhood education about reading sucks'#I couldn't find an international statistic or average comparable to the 'below a 6th grade reading level' stat so lmk if anyone has one#6th graders are 11–12 years old on average so that's probably how OP came up with the 'can't read chapter books' line#it's pretty common for US school libraries to sort books by reading level by grade and from my experience#there were definitely chapter books below a 6th grade reading level. e.g. by my school's AR metric PJO was like 4.7#so like. a fourth grade reading level (for ages 8–9) based on difficulty of plot/syntax tho they're obvs marketed to 6th grade or so#american education#not trying to like start a fight with OP or anything but these are very bold claims and they're getting a lot of notes so.

AO3 Etiquette -UPDATED
Based on both decent and not so decent replies, I have made some changes to my original post below.
It would seem a whole new kind of AO3 reader/writer is emerging and it is becoming clear not everyone quite understands how the website community works. Here is some basic guidance on how most people expect you to go about using AO3 to keep this a fun community archive that funtions correctly:
As well as likes, kudos is for when the story was interesting enough to make you finish reading. If it sucked or was badly written, you probably left. If you finished it, you liked it - so kudos.
If you really liked it, you should try to comment. It can be long and detailed or a literal keysmash. Writers don't care, we just love comments.
No critisism unless the author has specifically asked or agreed to hear it (so use your notes to say if you want some constructive feedback). Even constructive critisism is a no-no unless an author note tells you it's okay. No, posting it online is not an open invitation for that. Many people write as a fun hobby or a way to cope with, among other things, insecurity and just want to share. Don't ruin that for them. I've seen so many authors just stop writing coz they can't handle the negative emotions the critism brings, and it's only meant to be a fun thing shared for free (pointing out tagging errors is not included in this).
Do not comment to ask the author to write/update something else. It's tacky and off-putting and will probably have the opposite effect than the one you want.
There is no algorithm, it's an archive. Use the search and filter function to add/remove the pairings/characters/tropes etc. you want to read about and it will find you the fics that fit the bill.
For this to work, writers must tag and rate stories. This avoids readers finding the wrong things and missing the stuff they want. I don't care how cringy that trope is in your eyes - it gets tagged.
The tag exception is if you don't want to tag a million things or spoil your story, you can rate it as "chose not to use warnings," and maybe tag the bare minimum.
Don't censor tags. How can someone exclude a tag if the word isn't typed out correctly? There are no content bans for terms so don't censor them.
If the tags are mostly content/trigger warnings, especially if they are things considered very fucked up or graphic, you might want to use "dead dove - do not eat" to ensure people know that you're not messing around with tags and what they get is exactly what you've warned them about.
Character A/Character B means a ROMANTIC or SEXUAL relationship of some kind. Character A&Character B is PLATONIC, like friendship or family.
Nothing is banned. This is an rule because banning one thing is a slipperly slope to banning another and another, until nothing is allowed anymore. Do not expect anyone to censor for you. Because of the tags system, you are responsible for your own reading experience.
People can create new chapters and sequels/fic series any time after they "complete" a story. So it's considered perfectly normal to subscribe, even to a finished story. You can even subscribe to the author instead just to cover your bases.
Do not repost stories or change the publishing date without an extremely good reason (like a complete top to bottom rewrite or an exchange youve written for going public). It's an archive, not social media. No one cares what's the most recent, only what fits their tag needs.
Instead of deleting a story you wrote if you hate it - consider making it anonymous or orphaning it so others can still enjoy it, without it being connected to your name anymore. If you still want to delete it, fair enough.
It's come to my attention that metaworks ARE allowed on AO3, which is something I wasn't aware of. So if you do post an essay or theory, please tag it as such so others can choose to search for it or exclude it. Art is also allowed.
The only reason this archive works is because NON ONE PROFITS. Do not link to your ko-fi or patreon or mention monetary gain in any way or you violate the terms and risk having your account removed. If anyone does link, it leaves the archive open to people claiming it's for profit and having the whole thing removed.
I KNOW there's plenty more I missed but I'm trying to cover most of the basics that people seem to be struggling with.
I invite anyone to add to this, but please explain, don't berate.

it's an automatic block if i see someone in the replies of some post telling a stranger to kill themselves. even if i agree with them in whatever argument. i just think, apparently controversially so, that telling someone to kill themself online is a really fucked up thing to do
#u need to find a more constructive way to express your anger#that level of vitriol directed at someone you don't know just isn't okay idc how much they annoyed you#SUCH a red flag for how that person processes extreme emotions and for how they treat the people around them#this didn't used to be a hot take wtf happened to this website it's full of fucking assholes these days#bri babbles

Actually, I think this does link in with a wider conversation that I have been thinking for a while Tumblr maybe needs to hear.
There's a common meme on this site now that no one here has any reading comprehension skills. The best one is, of course, the original "No offense but reading comprehension on this site is piss poor/How dare you say we piss on the poor" post, which gave rise to the nickname "pissing-on-the-poor website". There's also the "I like pancakes/How dare you say waffles are terrible" one. Both of these are great, because they're silly jokey ways to show two closely related phenomena that are probably the commonest ways to fail a reading comprehension check.
The first is someone reading certain catchphrases or buzzwords in the post, and based on their own biases or prior experiences or whatever else, their brain simply fills in what it reckons the poster is saying on the topic. Instead of reading the rest of the sentence and digesting it, the reader then just uses their assumption as the interpretation, and reacts to that.
The second is closely related, because it also uses biases and prior experiences to to interpret the post, but rather than ignoring what the OP is actually saying, it instead performs a series of gymnastic leaps to construct a whole new assertion on the OP's behalf that simply isn't there.
There's also a third, of course; that one is people being so eager to feel smug and superior over someone they perceive as Bad that they wilfully assume the OP is stupid or being serious when they're actually joking. And if the reader hadn't been so blinded by their desire to get to look down on someone, they'd have seen the very obvious tells, sometimes even including sentences like "Obviously this is a joke." (I think we have all seen examples of these. Also, in a bid to avoid as many reading comprehension fails here as possible, this does not include misunderstandings borne entirely of neurodiverse struggles to parse intentions; but, neurodiverse people are just as likely as neurotypicals to have ego play a part in their misinterpretation of others, and that is what this point is about.)
And the thing is... actually, we are all capable of any of these. I imagine a sizable chunk of people reading until this point were probably thinking "Lol, yeah, people are so stupid," but na, nage, I'm not having that. Literally everyone does these sometimes. And it becomes a particular risk when the topic under discussion is something that might brush against an issue that is a pressure point for you, like a social justice talking point that you are forever having to argue with internet strangers about, for example. Your brain holds schemas! And sometimes it likes to pattern match things before it deigns to tell you about its findings! And that can hit you right in the emotions, which if they are strong enough, really can shut down all rational thought.
But. This brings me to the real point of the post.
Because the thing is, we have all saddled up and gone to war under these conditions, or at the very least been strongly tempted to. And a vital skill that literally everyone has to learn, sooner or later, is:
Before you hit 'reply', double check the post to make sure you fucking understood it.
And that does not mean "simply re-read, confirm your bias, carry on." It means, "Is it possible to read this post from the point of view of someone who doesn't intend it the way I've taken it? If I put myself in the shoes of an innocent, could they still have written these words? Is there another interpretation for these phrases?"
And you do have to do this step. You simply do have to. Because if your desire is to 'clap back' and call someone a gargling knobskin made of garbage, fuck me sideways but you must see that it is imperative that you check if they actually deserve that kind of treatment first. You cannot spend your time claiming that we must all choose to be kind and then not bother doing your due diligence before screaming a person's various and assorted bigotries at them. If you misread it, and they were innocent - you are the raging aggressive cunt in this situation.
It does not matter that you reacted from an emotional place of normally having to defend yourself either, by the way. Sure, that makes the quality of your human soul better than that of the average Redditor who just enjoys anonymously hurting people, I guess? But it's also irrelevant. If you messaged someone and called them a misogynist because you performed several mental somersaults and landed on your own sore spot when they meant no such thing, you are the attacker. You owe them an apology. And yeah, sure, you can explain your over-reaction as the product of your normal experiences if you like, but that is only an explanation, not an excuse. You are still the asshole here. You still need to apologise and mean it.
And you could have avoided it if you'd done that due diligence, as you should have. If you're going to take a swing, make sure it's the right target. This was once described to me as donkey people - they don't think, they just kick. This is admittedly a little unkind to donkeys, who always do their due diligence, but I feel it's an apt metaphor.
TL;DR: If you feel moved to angrily reply to something, first make sure you've interpreted it right. Don't be a donkey person. And if you ask for clarification, people are innocent until proven guilty. Ask nicely. If they are a bigot, you can then smelt them for parts.
#I reckon anyway#mileage may vary I suppose#but this has certainly made my life a lot happier to stop assuming everyone was attacking me#and to stop getting into pointless fights with no good or satisfying ending#this has been this week's Gospel According to Elanor

“Why Don’t You Just Move?”
A look at rural queerness and the hardcore scene.
With the recent and still on-going tragedy left in the wake of Hurricane Helene, a lot of light is being shed on southern states that make up Appalachia.
There’s a lot of misconceptions about Appalachia and the southern United States as a whole. There are a lot of good users on this website that have put a lot of effort into combating these harmful stereotypes and clearing up misconceptions.
But there’s more than just Appalachia in the south. There’s a lot of middle ground. Places that aren’t as rural as Appalachia, but places that aren’t as populated as cities like Raleigh, Richmond, Memphis, etc.
Places where people gather surrounded by other agricultural hubs.
There are queer people everywhere. In every culture, every religion, every country, in all of history, we have existed. We cannot and we will not be erased.
A common narrative that’s floated around for many years is “if red states are passing laws that are constructive to the LGBT+ community, then why don’t those people just move?”
So why don’t we just move?
I’m sure you can find a lot of well-written posts on here explaining many reasons why queer people not just in the southern states, but all over the world don’t “just move”, and one reason I’ve seen echoed over and over again is that “we have thriving communities here too”. We exist too.
How does one “be punk”?
It’s a question my mutuals and I get a lot, and a lot of us are tired of hearing it.
What does it mean to be punk?
Is it about the music? The clothes? The politics? Can you be punk if? Is it punk if you? Who? What? Where? When?
One common beginner tip to “being punk” is to find and join the local scene. This can lead to a lot of other questions, though. What is a scene? Where does one find the scene? How does one participate in the scene? Is there a minimum requirement?
Rest assured, literally no one is asking this offline.
A hardcore scene is so much more than just hardcore. A scene is a group of people where music is a common thread that builds the basis of other connections. A hardcore scene isn’t necessarily even hardcore.
“You have to listen to punk music to be punk”. Sure. But here’s the thing. In your local hardcore scene you will find: metal musicians, rappers, and more. You will attend shows with blues music, orchestras, and more.
Sometimes it’s not even music at all! Sometimes there is drag! Sometimes there are movie nights! Sometimes there are group outings!
It’s almost like… it’s just a social construct.
What is the local scene? The local scene is loud music. It’s smoking and drinking. It’s stopping by the corner store and the smoke and vape. It’s carpooling. It’s movie nights. It’s text chains. It’s group chats. It’s he-said-she-said. It’s they said. It’s AMAB enbies. It’s people who don’t care about “passing”. It’s DIY HRT. It’s she was a lesbian until she met him. It’s situationships. It’s hooking up and coming down. It’s bouncing from place to place to meet up with each other. It’s showing up someplace and seeing who’s there and waiting around to see who’s coming. It’s late nights spent partying on the weekends and back to school and work come the weekdays. It’s knowing someone by looks or name even if you haven’t put the two together yet. It’s trading socials. It’s Instagram stories and comments. It’s “DM for Address”. It’s “are you going tonight?” It’s “do you need a ride?” It’s “who else is going?”. It’s going somewhere and asking whos coming. It’s sitting around on broken chairs and lawn furniture passing around a blunt, sharing a 24 pack of beer that 4 of you ran out to get with money you all pooled together, it’s “should we order pizza?” It’s “I brought donuts”. It’s hanging out in each other’s houses and rooms. It’s respecting the businesses that offer to house you. It’s generational friendships. It’s listening to your friends as they joke about their heritage and talk about their cultures. It’s the dog you pet when you’re sitting on the curb in ripped fishnets taking drunk selfies with your friends. It’s the man playing you the harmonica as you sit outside the THC drink bar on a Saturday night. It’s sitting out in the yard listening to someone play an acoustic set where they talk about the war and poverty and politics while you slowly get high surrounded by your friends. It’s sitting on a dock in the middle of the night fishing listening to emo music huddled together with your friends. It’s autistic people showing each other the bugs they’ve found in the dirt. It’s talking about your disabilities together. It’s shoving your friends in the pit and then holding their hands. It’s seeing the cos guys in their 40s and 50s who tend the bar and work the register calling you by whatever name and pronouns you give them. It’s all of this and so much more, and it cannot be conceptualized by one single fashion style, one single music style, one single belief system. It’s not someone calling you out because you went to Chick-Fil-A and don’t you know that’s bad, it’s not someone telling you that you’re a poser because you like Chappell Roan too or your clothes were bought at Forever 21 not thrifted and DIYed.
Everyone likes to talk about folk punk and other genres that bands like Dayz and Daze have popularized- or according to some, commodified and commercialized- but if you’re going to talk about music like folk punk, you’re going to have to respect the areas that it originated in.
Everyone want’s to talk about “local punk bands” when half the bands you’re seeing don’t even fall under the genre of punk.
Your local scene isn’t always going to be skate parks and thrash music.
Sometimes it’s the mom cooking you and all your queer friends dinner on a Friday night in her kitchen with crosses and a picture frame of her family with the quote “live, laugh, love”.
Sometimes it’s sitting around and listening to men who are old enough to be your grandfather with Vietnam Veteran hats play the blues while a pig roasts in a backyard BBQ, even though you’re in your 20s and you have blue hair and pronouns.
It’s sitting around and listening to your elders talk about how the scene used to be “back in the day”. Talk about the shows they’ve been to, the bands they’ve seen in their prime.
It’s asking what you do for work, where do you live, what brought you down here, what’s your college major?
It’s people. It’s people connecting to people. Regardless of the color of their skin. Regardless of gender or sexuality. It’s people of all ages coming together to listen to music with the idea that what you all have in common is living here and now, hating politicians, and thinking that someone should do something about the shitty state the world is in. It’s not a conglomerate. It’s individuality, and there’s no real wrong way of doing it unless you’re a Trump Supporter or a Nazi, and even then, they still have their own factions of the punk scene that are going to overlap with yours on occasion. The best you can do then is stand up for what you believe in and stay safe.
There are scenes just like mine all over this country. In southern states, in rural areas, in places that other, mainly white queers have “written off”.
So why don’t we just move?
Because this is our scene, and it’s what we make it, and in the heart of the south in the Bible Belt, we’re making it a queer-inclusive space despite what’s happening around us.

to be clear: threatening to withhold your vote on condition of a candidate adopting a certain policy is a fundamental tenet of democracy. it's effectively one of the very few tools available to regular citizens to get an elected official to listen. you don't have to actually go through with it, but you sure as hell have to MAKE NOISE about how you definitely totally will so that you actually get taken seriously. begrudgingly agreeing to vote for the least shit option is something you do the week of the election, if it comes to that. you don't SETTLE until it's too late. you don't shut up criticism months in advance by acting like every (extremely valid) objection is a psyop.
I'm not very keen on patronising tumblr users who express moral qualms about genocide by acting like they don't know what's good for them, especially on a website made up disproportionately of disenfranchised voters who all have a lot to lose in case of a far-right administration. if you're that invested, you're better off using that time and energy volunteering for someone's campaign, given the projected sizeable percentage of non-voters outside of tumblr dot com. peace and love on planet earth.
speaking my truth. the us elections discourse on this website makes it painfully clear that some people people don't understand how democracy works
#blessedly this has nothing to do with me#but wanted to say my piece given that I have to see untagged discourse every day on this website :)#anyway. if it was ME. you can bet your ass I'd be very very VERY loudly threatening not to vote#i'd likely still do it! but THREATENING not to IS a democracy tool#anyway. unfortunately. no amount of tumblr discourse is going to make up for the huge number of persuadable voters#the democrats are just giving up on by sticking with biden to spare his feelings or whatever#they're hemorraging votes for reasons OTHER than what tumblr is discoursing about#this is all i'll say & i'm not interested in disk horse but like. the tone of some posts is unbearable. its BEEN unbearable for months#eye think it would be constructive to acknowledge the genocide my candidate is carrying out#instead of only talking about how the hypothetical genocide the other guy would do will be worse#you know? i'll eat the shit if i have to. don't tell me that it doesn't stink#us politics#peace & love. signing out

Hermit Heartthrobs 2025 Debut!!!
(header by Anndy Oddissey on twitter and tumblr)
Welcome to the first edition of the Hermit Heartthrobs calendar!
If you want to order the physical calendar already designed by our team, fill out this form and submit your email to receive an invitation to order the calendar from Mixbook. The form will be open until January 5th. If you want to preview the physical calendar, check it out here on Mixbook.
You can view the physical calendar, here.
If you want to design and print your own physical calendar or download any images, use the Heartthrobs Calendar Images folder, where you can download the same images we used. You can use a different website or photo printing service to create your own Heartthrobs Calendar.
If you want the digital calendar you can download the Digital Calendar PDF from this PDF This is a 14-month calendar with the same basic designs and dimensions as the physical calendar, with a few bonus details.
FAQ and Artist Credits below the cut!
Q. Do you make any money from this?
A. No, we do not. While the Mixbook calendar does cost money, none of it goes to the organizers or artists. It only goes to the printers to acquire the physical copy.
Q. What size is the calendar?
A. The calendar images are 12”x12”, and the full calendar is 12”x24”.
Q. What is the price of the physical calendar?
A. The final price naturally depends on shipping, but the base cost of the calendar right
now is $44.99. However, Mixbook may have coupons available to make your order cheaper.
Q. How is the quality of the physical calendar?
A. It’s great! The calendar itself is made of sturdy matte paper. The image quality is fantastic, the covers lovely, and the calendar itself is sturdy and well-constructed.
Q. What if Mixbook doesn’t ship to my country?
A. Mixbook ships to a wide range of international locations, but if they don’t ship to your specific country, you can download the digital calendar, or design your own and print it locally.

“Where’s Michelle Obama?” I don’t know, home? At her house? Living her life? She did her service to this country. You don’t get to keep demanding the presence of leaders whose advice you have routinely ignored, especially not when the guy that got voted in is a vile racist who has been attacking her family for years.
“Who’s going to lead the Democratic Party now?” I don’t know, you guys said the last guy was too old, so he stepped down and was replaced by a younger, more energetic leader and people Didn’t. Vote. For. Her. So yeah - sit with that for a minute. You’ve got time, because it may be a while before we find a natural-born leader who can navigate this hellish political landscape.
One thing that is a little annoying about the “where’s the Democratic opposition?” conversation cropping up in political media is that the fundamental premise of the question is “where’s the Democratic opposition now that we’re in the exact nightmare scenario that they warned us about?” And let’s think about that for *one second*.….. so Democrats literally… warned you….. that this exact situation would happen…. Hm. Remember the part where we did protest and vote and raise awareness and organize during Trump’s first term? And subsequently ran two campaigns with qualified candidates and good policies to counter the other guy running? And how our candidate who won undid all of the damage of Trump’s first term that he could? That was the opposition. That’s what that was!
So maybe give us like a second to regroup now that the American people have basically expressed that they either didn’t understand what was going on in the last election cycle or frankly just didn’t give a fuck, both of which are, in my opinion, unforgivably irresponsible. You’re a citizen in a country. You’re supposed to keep yourself informed. You’re supposed to pay attention, even when it’s boring. And you’re supposed to show up and vote. There are consequences when you don’t. So sorry, but don’t come crying to Democrats to save you (for at least the third time in recent memory) when you fucking voted them out of power! Actions have consequences. That’s what this is!
#like our website may be under construction for a little while ok?#it’s truly baffling#like did you really think the same people you rejected were just going to jump back in and save us?#you rejected them… they don’t have the power to do that anymore!#that’s how it works welcome to 5th grade civics class

I’ve seen a lot of bad information circulating about what happens when the cohort converts a thalergenic planet to a thanergy planet so I wanted to clear up some misconceptions ^u^
Converting a planet does NOT make it unable to sustain life. If thanergenic planets couldn't sustain life, no1 would be able to live on the nine houses!!!
The wildlife does NOT get mutated. How would that even work? I stj people they don't hurt the wildlife, they only affect the planets! The 'varmints have best friends' campaign is honestly just in bad faith :((
Devils are NOT real and if they were you should really stop posting about their tongues [weird!] U guys really cannot tell what is and isn't fearmongering these days and itz kind of concerning ngl
