Punk Steve works as a professional piercer. He has quite a few piercings himself and his current customer is asking about every single one of them. Steve can tell he's nervous and just trying to distract himself so he plays along.
He tells the curly haired guy about how his tongue piercing had bled everywhere and stained his bedroom carpet, the he pierced his lip in the back-seat of his car before his job at an ice cream place, that his nipple piercings got caught in his best friend's hair while they were at a concert. The guy nods and laughs with him, his eyes never leaving Steve's face as he prepares the needle and jewellery. "I'm just going to mark it, okay? Hold still."
Steve leans in close, so close that he can hear the guy's breath hitch when he meets his gaze. He smirks and looks back down at his lips, they are red from where he was chewing on them when he first came in and nervously asked to get a piercing. Steve marks the right side of his bottom lip, steps back to look and then nods. "Looks good. See what you think while I finish setting up."
"Aw man, it's gonna look wicked." He runs a hand through long curls and smiles at his reflection. Steve smiles and turns back to his station. He's a bit cute.
"If it hurts, can you kiss it better?" He says while Steve literally has his lip in the clamp, needle ready in his other hand.
Steve shakes his head and wills the heat in his cheeks to disappear. "Oh, it's going to hurt. How 'bout I buy you lunch after for being such a brave boy, hmm?" Steve sticks the needle through his lip before he can say anything else. He doesn't flinch, just blinks away a few tears. Steve can feel his eyes watching his every move as he prepares to slip the jewellery in. "You're doing so good, just a little pinch and there you go. You did so well." He pats his knee and gives the guy some space to breathe, gives himself some god damn space to breathe because this guy is intense.
"Fuuckkkk, dude." He blinks back tears that make his big, beautiful eyes sparkle underneath the lights. "I nearly slapped you. That hurt." Steve glances down at the guy's ring clad fingers and swallows, willing certain thoughts away.
"You took it like a champ. Do you want a sticker?"
"Does it come with your phone number?"
Steve bites his lip, his teeth clinking agianst the ring in the middle of his bottom lip, and reaches for a pen. "I guess it can." He scribbles his number onto a sticky note and hands it over to the now beaming brunette, his lip is angry and red. "I finish at 3, if you want to get lunch."
Steve grabs a gold star sticker that says, 'You're amazing!' And sticks it to the guy's patch covered vest.
"I'm Steve, by the way."
"I know, it says so on your badge. I'm Eddie."
"I know." Steve holds up Eddie's consent form and shakes it.
"I'll see you at 3?" Steve asks after Eddie's paid. The lip piercing suits him, makes him even more radiant as he leans on the front desk and smiles up at Steve.
"It's a date. You're paying." He says with a wink and then he's out the door, leaving Steve alone to laugh and smile to himself like an idiot.

Wild Pets 1 - Werewolf!TF141*Fem!Reader
Summary: You found an injured wolf (Which is actually Soap) in your backyard, and you chose to bring it home.
work summary: just something about you find wolf Johnny and he brings his friends to your home and after that your home isn't just yours anymore.
word count: 626
Tumblr media
You found something in your backyard.
You thought it was just a bump of dirt and leaves at first, so you didn’t t pay a mind to it, strolling directly to take your broom, starting your day by taking care of your yard.
Until you stepped closer to that thing.
You saw the pile was slightly moving, maybe it was just a hallucination from your grogginess, but then you saw it, a paw sticking out of “the pile of dirt”.
Still having the broom in your hand, you used the handle to poke it.
“Holy shit...!”
You cursed under your breath, now you could see the thing clearly.
It was a wolf, covered in a massive amount of dirt and dirty as hell, but it surely was still breathing, but it was severely injured, scratches and open wounds on its body and right leg.
Start digging the wolf out with your bare hands, more and more features at shown to you, even though it was filthy because of blood and dirt, the wolf was still beautiful, with long furs and a considerably large body.
The wolf was heavy, you took a while and had some break during carrying, finally brought it into your house.
This wasn’t the first time you found animals in your backyard, since it was connected to a forest and surrounded by mountains — the reason why you chose here as your home at first, a place with majestic views and 0 neighbors — but it was the first time you got an injured animal (which was still alive) in your backyard.
You rushed to your bathroom, grabbing clean towels and the medkit from your cabinet, before getting back to its side.
Not having any knowledge about taking care of wounded animals, you opened Google and searched.
‘How to take care of an injured wolf?’
Of fucking course, you get nothing except ‘contact professionals’, but you live in the mountains, it would take you almost a day to reach the nearest vet, and this poor thing would definitely die at the moment you got there.
Letting out a long sigh, you closed your phone and put it down, before heading back to observe the wolf.
Guess all you can do is clean the wound and hope it can survive this by itself.
Taking out a few bandages and a bottle of normal saline, you start disinfecting the wounds, startled and keeping your motions as soft as possible when the wolf lets out small whines.
You heaved a sigh of relief after you secured the bandage around its leg, bloody towels and gauze were tossed across the floor, so you got up and threw them all into the garbage can too.
Now everything was done, you looked at the wolf steadily breathing on your carpet, praying it to heal a bit by having some rest.
A series of noises woke you up from your nap.
Oh, yeah, you fell asleep beside the wolf after you patched it up.
but why do you hear someone talking?
“...hey...Hey?” The voice... a man? your blurry mind tried to process, but you were annoyed and groaned at whoever dragged you out of your dream.
Wait... there was someone in your house?
Your eyes snapped open, and you saw a person crouching in front of you, face beamed up when he saw your eyes concentrated on him.
“Hey, you’re awake!” He said with his accented English.
and your cement-filled mind finally became functional after his greeting.
A man, a naked man, with a weird mohawk and injuries and somewhat beautiful blue eyes but you can’t care more about it at the moment, was in your house, right in front of you.
You gasped, and...
“AAAAAAAAA who the fuck are you?!”

Volume 4 - Post #6: Count your blessings
Another installment in this ongoing serialized fanfic
Tumblr media
Genre: Mandalorian x Fem! Reader
Total word count: 2K (sixth post in Volume 4)
Rating: Explicit - smut, language, +18 *NSFW*
_______________________________
VI. It takes the better part of a day to hide the Razor Crest under the tree canopy. At some point in the afternoon, you stop looking up from your work, expecting the Mandalorian to emerge from behind one of the tall ferns carpeting the forest floor. It often took him days to track down his quarry. He wouldn’t be back anytime soon.
Instead, you dig into another round of roasted fish and listen to Nito’s unsettling story about exactly how he gained access to the Imperial archive. Which involved the spouse of a sitting Galactic Senator and a dominatrix.
“My concern is that Mando didn’t properly contextualize this,” you say, picking a bone out from between your teeth. “You see, sometimes consenting adults want to pretend—it’s important that they’re just pretending—because everyone participating enjoys—”
“Ah! Stop!” He places all four hands over his ears.
“And for the record, I’m not against paying for sex work under ethical conditions. Especially in that kind of scenario where professional expertise—”
“Stop talking!”
“Okay. Okay,” you wave him down. “The only other thing I want to say, is that I encourage you to get comfortable with the basics and develop good communication before you think about exploring—”
The Ardennian throws a handful of fiddleheads at you. “What do I have to do to make you stop talking?!”
“Alright, I’m done! Just know I’m here, if and when you want to talk.”
“Sure,” Nito sneers. “Cause you and Mando are so great at communicating.”
“Wow!” You glare at him. “That was mean, little sidekick.”
“Sidekick?” He practically chokes on the word. “I am not your—don’t call me sidekick.”
“Yeah? Well, don’t start slinging shit around if you don’t want to step in it.”
You extend Nito a hand in truce and somehow manage to avoid slapping the condescending look off his face when he rolls his eyes.
“Right. So what did you learn from these uncensored records?”
Nito had already done an extensive amount of sleuthing on the HoloNet for site plans, handbooks, technical documents, senate committee reports, and whatever else he could find about the Empire’s coaxium production on Lakaran.
“When Ubaa Dir found us on Sriluur…I kept thinking about how the Tagge Corporation makes so much money. Everything they do is about cost-savings and shortcuts. There’s no way they would build a completely new operating system. They’ve just been overwriting and patching the old lines of Imperial code. And now I know which program they used.”
That makes you sit up straighter. “You mean…you did it? You designed something that can take over the refinery?”
“Not just the refinery,” Nito says excitedly. “The entire facility. Door locks, alarm protocols, climate control. I can turn the decorative fountains on and off if you want me to.”
“Nito, that’s—”
“A feat of astounding genius,” he finishes for you with a spectacularly smug look. The size of this kid’s ego probably generates its own gravity.
“Yes, I am humbled to be in the presence of such boundless intellect. Getting back to the malware you so ingeniously created. Are you saying all I have to do is launch this program, and you’ll have remote access to the operating system?”
Nito’s bad moods usually fall somewhere along the spectrum of sarcastic brat to sulky drama queen, but the way his nostrils flare, and eyes dilate is pure outrage. He looks absolutely livid.
“Uh, no. I’m not doing anything remotely,” he scoffs at the absurdity of your suggestion. “I need to be onsite to work on the TaggeCo network.”
“Look, Nito, I’m sorry about the snarky sidekick remark. I know it feels like being an equal member of the team means taking on equal risk, but—”
“Because I am!” He shouts. “You think my voice in your earpiece is all you need to splice into their systems? They will try to override my program with anything they can throw at it. You think Mando can deflect those kinds of attacks? Because you sure as hell can’t. You need me there.”
“That’s not our only responsibility, Nito. What are we going to do? Bring a toddler with us on a heist?”
“Yes!” Nito exclaims.
Your jaw drops open. “When Ubaa Dir’s fighters launch a ground assault to take the refinery, some dead-eyed TaggeCorp exec back on Coruscant is going to decide whether destroying the entire facility under the cover of some ‘industrial accident’ is better for their bottom line. And if we don’t have control of the network when they make that call, everyone will die. So, yeah, you’ll be talking to me through an earpiece because I don’t want you, or the kid, anywhere near.”
“And what if someone blocks the receiver signal, huh? What if you’re in a fight, it falls out and gets crushed? What then, Thuli?” He growls at you, jaw set with conviction. “Just because you’re scared doesn’t change the fact that you need me!”
Gods, you’re so bad at navigating conflict. Your body becomes so overwhelmed with anxiety that you actually stand up from your seat next to the fire and start pacing. The Child, who had been sleeping next to you on the blanket, stirs—eyes blinking wide in confusion.
“Of course, I’m scared! We’re jeopardizing the lives of innocent people. What? Were you hoping to startle me into some kind of epiphany?!”
The Child whimpers in distress, clinging to your knees until you pick him up. “I know you resent being back on babysitting duty—”
“He’s not a baby,” Nito snaps. “And I know you know that.”
“What—?”
“Okay, he might be a baby, but he’s not helpless. He can…do things,” Nito says in a hushed whisper. “And if I’ve seen it, I know you’ve seen it too.”
You draw in a sharp breath and drop your gaze toward the kid. But he’s already back asleep, contented in the safety of your arms.
So…we’re finally having this conversation. Part of you reflexively wants to deny it. Honor Mando’s wishes and say nothing. Convince Nito that it’s all a figment of his overactive imagination.
It’s painful realizing how comfortable you’ve become with dishonesty. How readily the lie springs to your lips. Erenada, this is what’s eating Humia alive—the compulsion to reach for deceit instead of truth, even when it serves no purpose.
“What have you seen him do?”
The tension in Nito’s posture melts away. Instead, he becomes alight with fascination, eager to share this memory he’d replayed in his mind countless times. He’s so excited he can barely think straight.
“Mando tracked his bounty to Numidian Prime, but the guy nearly shot us down from the sky. I was making repairs to the engine turbine…It was so humid out that all this moisture had collected on the wing. When I opened the injector panel, these mynock came out of nowhere. Just flew at my face, attacking me. And I slipped, but…I didn’t fall. Something…caught me. Some kind of force that held onto me.”
A force.
You recall seeing a shimmering wave when the Child moved the boulder to save Mando’s quarry trapped underneath. Like a haze over desert sand as he lifted the rock above the cave floor. And you’d thought that same thing—that it was a forcefield, somehow wielded by this tiny creature.
Nito’s shoulders slump. “It was him. He saved me.”
The kid’s mouth twitches, his hands opening and closing while he dreamed, blissfully unaware that he’s the subject of your whispered speculation. The Mandalorian may want to hide these abilities, but they couldn’t be contained.
“I’ve seen it, too,” you nod. “He lifted this boulder a thousand times his weight and size.”
“Do you know how he does it? I mean, you can do…stuff,” Nito raised all four arms helplessly. “You both have powers. How is it possible?”
“I—”
In this case, it’s probably best to leave the truth unspoken. If Nito knew what you were truly capable of—the things you'd done, the accidents—as a child? He would never look at you with that trusting gaze ever again. And you’re not ready to give that up.
“I’ve never heard of a Hapan able to manipulate inorganic matter. My power is tied to the connection between living things. I wield...physiology. Granted, I never finished my training. There is secret knowledge only practiced by the most revered sages. But I don’t know how he does it.”
“Can’t you just look inside his mind for answers?”
“No,” you shake your head. “I can’t read someone’s mind like pages in a book, Nito. If he were to focus on a particular thought or memory, I might witness it, but I can only sense emotion.”
Thinking back to that day in the cave, you remember, “He felt…sadness. And guilt. Maybe it was different that time…it took him a long time to access his power because he felt so conflicted about it. Not like with you and—he saved Mando, too—from a charging Mudhorn—”
Nito huffed, and a hateful smile spread across his face. “So you and Mando have known this whole time, and you never said anything to me?”
Fuck! Kriffing hell, there’s no avoiding this…so much for that trusting gaze.
“I—yes. Mando asked me never to speak about it, but I should have pushed back. You deserved to know. I’m sorry, Nito. I made a mistake.”
This did nothing to mollify the rage building up inside the Ardennian. He stomps forward to shove a finger in your face.
“Well, I don’t forgive you! I don’t know why Mando doesn’t trust me…but you didn’t push back because you liked sharing a secret with him. He’s the only thing you’ve ever cared about out.”
Your head snaps back as if you’d been slapped. “Nito, that’s not—”
“And he doesn’t even care enough about you to be here. Look around, Thuli. Mando’s not here. I am!”
Ouch! Okay, you might have deserved that. He’s right, after all. You’d been so touched that Mando trusted you with this secret, you hadn’t really thought about hurting Nito. But damn, did this kid have to rip your heart open to bury the knife in your chest?
“Can we talk about this without—?”
“Guess what,” Nito howls so loudly that the baby shudders awake, whimpering. “I don’t trust you guys either. You’re both too stupid to do this without me. I’m going to take down that network, and I’m bringing the kid with me.”
And he grabs the kid from your arms to tuck him into his apron pocket. With a theatrical twist of his shoulders, Nito stalks toward the Crest.
“Nito, I don’t know how to get you inside the refinery. Why do you think I’ve been mopping floors for the past two weeks? So that I can walk in through the front gate.”
He doesn’t even bother turning to look at you. “Then get me a transponder.”
“It doesn’t work that way!” You cry desperately after him. “There are checkpoints and scanners everywhere. I'm not wearing this thing as a costume prop!”
This time, he stops to give you an accusatory glare. “So what about Mando, eh? I bet you know how to get him inside.”
“Mando can get himself in, and I don’t think I need to explain how he’ll manage that.”
“Then, Mando can get me in, too. He brought us with him for the job on Coruscant.”
“That guy was a bureaucrat, Nito. TaggeCo has a private army! Why can’t you see that I’m trying to protect you?"
"No one asked you to! I've been taking care of myself for a long time."
And the almost imperceptible crack in Nito's voice as he stifled down a sob breaks what's left of your heart.
"But you shouldn't have to. You’re right! We are stupid. Let us be stupid while you are smart and stay out of danger.”
Nito is indifferent to your tears. “You don’t get to make that decision for me! You can’t do this without us, Thuli. Figure out how to get me into that operations center, or none of this works.”
It’s hard to believe that you started out the day excited.

Beyond the Four Leaves of Fortune
I actually wrote my @inklings-challenge (thank you to the runners for holding the challenge!) story on the 28th, intending to post it on the same day given the inspiration from Holy Innocents Day but, uh....didn't. Also, excuse some of the typos/clunkiness as I didn't really edit well because 3k words.
The most important thing to note here is that I took inspiration from Jeremiah 31: 16-17, the verse after the whole Rachel weeping thing. And also that it features the same characters from the previous challenge. With that, here it goes!
-
“I think…” Wynan began, side-eyeing the scene in front of her with the air of someone long-resigned to everything, “that it should be illegal for people who have read too many books for their own good to get wrapped up in adventures.”
Relani and Meryan glanced at each other, perhaps a little guiltily.
Or so Wynan chose to interpret, just for her sanity. They were, after all, hiding a rather overly large creature behind their backs and not very inconspicuously. She couldn’t identify the creature right away, not having the breadth of knowledge Meryan had on the nuances of other worlds nor Relani’s impressive mental encyclopedia of obscure creatures. But the important things was that it was dark blue, snake-like (or perhaps wyrm-like with its scales?), dripping an odd gray liquid on the living room carpet that was probably blood…and very, very visible.
“We readers know all too well how things go and end,” Wynan continued, abandoning the laptop she’d been writing something on. She leaned against the door to the kitchen (opposite to the entrance from the mudroom), crossing her arms and quirking an eyebrow. “There’s no stakes and no drama, so involving us in the plot really will be no fun because we’re gonna just make the most boringly safe choices.”
Like, for example, opposing the adoption—not healing, since it looked like it needed patching up—of a magical beast.
Meryan glanced at the wyrm-like creature half squished into the mudroom, then back to Wynan. “Um…he’s a wyrm from one of the fairy-tale-like worlds who almost got lost to the void,” she attempted, her voice robotically professional. “We’ve decided to name him Léf.”
At her words, the dark blue wyrm weakly floated into the room, able to fit due to magically decreasing his size. He made a huffing noise as he flopped on the floor, the gray liquid dribbling out of him staining the carpet.
Wynan made the mistake of looking into his eyes, black full of blue stars the same color as his scales.
Léf whimpered.
“…crap.”
…………
“After he’s all healed up, we do have to release Léf back into his world,” Relani admitted a few hours later, when they’d patched up the tragically compliant wyrm and put him into one of their emptier rooms.
Meryan turned around so swiftly that she almost spilled the pot of broth in her hands.
“What?? Why? What if Léf doesn’t want to go back?!” she half-heartedly protested.
Like Wynan, Meryan was also a reader and thus aware of how this story would play out.
Also like Wynan, though (or perhaps it was the reverse), Meryan had become captivated by the wyrm’s adorable eyes and his clear exhaustion of life. So despite knowing better, they decided that maybe this time they could let the story play out differently and keep the wyrm with them.
“I mean…this house does need a pet,” Wynan contemplated, far too innocently for someone who had said literal hours ago that she wouldn’t support any idea that came from this. “I know we have Meluan—”
“Meluan isn’t a pet,” Relani sighed, though she smiled at the banter thrown at the currently-absent fourth member of the house. “And do you really think she’ll allow this?”
All three of them flashed back to their various attempts to keep animals here at the edge of the universe.
“…she probably will, to be honest,” Wynan reminisced. “And then we’ll have to repair the walls again.”
“Or rebuild the roof,” Relani reminded.
“Or find an obscure chemical to remove sea monster mucus from the floorboards,” Meryan finished with a sigh, sitting down (bowl of broth and all).
It looked like the story wouldn’t play out differently this time, after all, Wynan thought. Well, she’d tried not to get attached…for all but two minutes, at least. But you couldn’t just give them a helpless animal and expect them not to get attached, so who’s fault was it, really?
But back to the matter at hand.
“Well…I wonder what led him here, anyway,” Wynan spoke up, frowning at the wyrm curled up on the fuzzy and currently blue carpet.
Right now, Léf was breathing easily and fast asleep, but there was something about its…everything that didn’t sit right with Wynan. Barring the fact that the Abode Before the Void rarely received animals—and, if they did, they were companions of (or remnants of) their owners who’d come to the void—there was just something about the wyrm that seemed…off. Clearly, he wasn’t a remnant of someone the sisters couldn’t save or they would have felt it but what was he?
Unaware of Wynan’s thoughts, Meryan easily supplied some of the information missing. “I can’t really tell what exactly the creature means to his world, but he comes from a fairy-tale-esque land…the ones where the myths and folk tales of other universes seem to come alive?” she explained, resting her arms on her knees with a fond look at the sleeping creature. “The unique point in this world is the way these fantastical creatures co-exist peacefully with a technologically advancing world. A modern fairy tale, to put it in other terms.”
Relani grimaced and crawled closer to the sleeping creature. “I can add a bit more.”
Fearlessly, she brushed asides the filmy light blue material that made up Léf’s mane. The wyrm slept on, affected by Wynan’s special power over dreams and rest to not wake unless necessary, and thus was unaware of the moment Relani revealed three white shapes on its forehead.
“Ah, I thought so,” Relani hummed. “He’s a familiar, or that world’s version of one, anyway. The shape on Léf’s forehead is a sign that he’s been claimed.”
She was about to edge away from the creature before Wynan stopped her.
“Hang on,” Wynan said, standing up and studying the marks.
“You sense anything?” Meryan remained where she was, simply resting her head on her arms as she observed her sister working.
Wynan nodded slowly, stepping back. “The mark is broken…I don’t know what exactly that means, but I can sense it was broken and that it wasn’t caused by either death or some…dramatic moment of sacrifice on the owner’s part.”
Wynan turned in time to catch the storms that were Meryan’s eyes narrow.
“Well, I do know what that means, and that means whoever Léf’s owner was, they broke their bond…crudely, too, if the mark is still there,” she explained, the professional tone she’d taken on again lined with fury. “No wonder Léf was driven here.”
“Broken bonds are no joke, between people but especially unequal ones like this,” Relani sighed deeply, stepping back as well. “I wonder what Léf’s story is.”
“I could try looking,” Wynan offered conversationally, sitting back down next to the creature. She absently scratched at the surface of the carpet. “I mean, there’s no guarantee on what he’ll dream about, but I could take a look in there and see what sorts of dreams he’s having. I’ve found that animals usually dream memories since they have more limited imaginations than those with souls.”
Relani scooted back a little, with a hand gesturing to, by all means, go ahead.
Followed by Meryan’s, “Oh, could you?” Wynan placed a warm hand gently on Léf’s neck. The touch wasn’t strictly necessary, but Wynan liked the thought of there being an action needed before invading the dreamspace of someone’s mind. Even if that someone was a less intelligent creature.
And, as it usually was with less intelligent but magic-touched creatures, the dreams she saw were more fragmented memories, coming from the limited perspective of a familiar clearly enslaved by the whims of his master or mistress.
Warm fires. Robotic pats that didn’t hold much affection but were appreciated nonetheless. Frustrated growls, not necessarily directed at him but terrifying nonetheless. Words of magic. Commands. Burning villages. Blood in the mouth. A prison he was banished into until called. A tattoo of a creature that looked like Léf.
And the clearest dream/memory?
It was of a figure in white smashing a glowing red crystal upon its head—its familiar mark, if Wynan had to hazard a guess. Pain soon followed, and Wynan instinctively let the warm blanket of her magic cover the terrible memory, soothing its sting as it passed like a video on a screen than a past reality lived.
She stayed in there for a while longer, knowing she had the full story but just in case Léf required more mental relief, but only felt his dull pain and exhaustion along with hints of relief in the darkness.
“Hmm,” Wynan commented upon exiting.
She was half aware of her sisters exchanging a look.
“Meaning?” Relani prompted soon after.
“I think he was bonded to an evil wizard or…whatever the magic people there are called,” Wynan slowly parsed, remembering the emotions.
Behind her, Meryan snorted. “No surprise there.”
At Wynan’s side, Relani’s lips thinned. Relani was also another reader, and the three knew way too many stories to hear that and not instantly conclude what happened.
“I mean, the story isn’t as smooth as that,” Wynan interrupted the silence, waving her hand in front of Léf’s covered mark. “His bond with his owner was severed, yes, but I don’t think it was done by them. I think they treated him…well enough. Perhaps not great, but there wasn’t any abuse to note of.” She thought about it a bit more. “But I think Léf was under the power of a storybook villain, if that’s anything.”
The fury in Meryan’s colorful eyes softened.
“I see…so Léf has his own stains,” she muttered, lifting her head up a little. “Things that stole his ability to claim his own innocence but wasn’t guilty of, not really.”
Wynan nodded. “That seems to be the story, yeah.”
“So, I’m supposing the hero of this story had to get rid of the villain’s steed before beating the actual villain once and for all?” Relani continued, lips twisting in a half-playful, half-regretful smile.
Again, Wynan bobbed her head in agreement, edging back to sit on Meryan’s side.
“I’m guessing lots of people had to bear the tragedy for the story to reach its happy ending,” Wynan concluded, looking at the poor wyrm driven to the edge of ever universe. “And we’re looking at one such innocent lost to the void.”
“Almost lost,” Relani corrected, stroking the wyrm.
At her comforting touch, Léf let out a deep sigh, as if relieved, as if trusting he was somewhere safe.
“Are you sure we can’t keep him?” Meryan half-heartedly attempted the question, not expecting anything from it. “Can we even let him return to his world when he was pretty brutally expelled from it?”
Continuing to pet the wyrm’s smooth scaled, Relani laughed quietly. “I’m sure Léf will be fine back there once he heals. We can only hope that he’ll find a better wizard or mage to bond with, if he ever allows himself to be caught again.”
Yep…as expected.
That was how the story always went. One of them found a helpless animal somewhere (not usually near the universe’s edge, though), they contemplated keeping it, a story of their appearance there was revealed, either mayhem or a realization that it had to return to its world followed, and then all of them went back to their lives missing the animal.
Still…it wasn’t so bad to get attached and maybe try to shift the story just a little, right?
Maybe that’s part of the story, Wynan thought, laughing a little to herself. Tell them we won’t get attached, get attached anyway, learn to let go. And with our life out here, it’s not like we won’t ever see them again.
“YO!”
Following the muffled shout, the door to the empty room housing Léf burst open, revealing a rather frazzled Meluan panting heavily and shouldering a rather large bag. She barely gave a second glance at the large wyrm taking up half of the space and waved her arms frantically at the other women.
“First of all, I’m back. Secondly, I am in need of support,” she gasped out between heavy breaths.
Unfazed, Wynan dryly sighed, “Stop panting. You literally cannot physically get tired in this house.”
At the same time, Relani chuffed and asked, “What did you do, Mel?”
“I’m emotionally tired! And need emotional support!” Meluan protested, her gaze bouncing from Wynan to Relani. “Also, I did nothing! You’re all the ones who forced me to make the library run this time, and unfortunately, the Librarian decided she wanted to tag along so someone please give me emotional support!”
Meryan, who had been laughing at the exchange, hopped up. “I’ll go,” she giggled, taking the large pot of broth with her. “You guys stay here and watch over Léf.”
“Have fun,” Relani saluted, the hand over her mouth not at all covering her mirth.
“And leave the bag behind,” Wynan added, knowing it likely contained the books they’d sent Meluan out to borrow.
Instinctively, Wynan caught the heavy bag immediately thrown at her, smiling at their usually unperturbed housemate looking so clearly bothered. “I’d wish you luck, but you’re just being dramatic,” Wynan called out as Meryan closed the door.
Incensed despite allowing herself to be dragged by Meryan, Meluan grumbled, “The Librarian is in my house! That’s not dramatic at all!”
“She’s not going to bite you in our house,” Wynan heard Meryan reply.
“Uh huh, anyway. What do you mean by having named the wyrm I saw? Or did he come prepacked with one?”
“…well, it hasn’t been long, but…”
Their voices faded away, leaving Relani and Wynan alone with the wyrm who had once been a familiar.
Léf’s quiet presence in the room reminded Wynan of a time long ago when she’d just been Wynan instead of…whatever she was now. That individual had loved dragons and had badly wished her world had them, to keep as a pet or simply just to ride. She’d seen a lot of dragons and creatures in the same genus since that particular Wynan’s childhood fantasy, but she’d hardly ever been able to exist in a room this peacefully with one.
“…it’s always gotta be the pets who can’t stay,” Wynan swore, though she smiled in spite of herself. “I hope Léf has a better story when he returns, at least.” Léf couldn’t be happy here, not with the limited space within their home and such nearness to the end of the universe.
Sending a smile her way, Relani laughed her agreement. “I hope so, too.”
“Kind of a shame his story had to end so tragically, though,” Wynan sighed, thinking idly back on the small tale they’d managed to piece together based on their collective knowledge of narratives and longtime experience. “It seems that in the fights between heroes and villains, there will always be innocents on both sides who will have to die.”
Relani’s brows furrowed in response, but Wynan wasn’t offended, knowing that her sister was merely thinking.
“But,” Wynan continued anyway, chuckling ruefully, “I guess it was like that for all of us, too…the way so many ‘faceless’ characters had to die for our story to continue, right?”
It made her wonder if one day they’d be those in the “faceless crowd” fated to die to advance the story and spur the hero to glory. She hoped not…she was content being the lost story that she was. But if there was one thing she as a reader knew about lost stories, is that there was always someone out there who wanted them found.
“Well, Léf’s story isn’t over yet, is it?” Relani suddenly interrupted Wynan’s musing, her eyes twinkling like veiled stars. “After all, there was someone before the edge to find him and help him recover so he could go back.”
Wynan almost rolled her eyes but found that she couldn’t really contest that statement. “Okay, not wrong. Of course you’d see it like that, though.”
“Oi,” Relani protested, leaning back on her arms, though her lips were still stretched with amusement. “It’s not optimism when it’s just the truth, Wynan. We know better than anyone how even those who have wandered off the edge, those actually lost within the void, have been found. No one is faceless in the end, even if it is true that to each other we can sometimes be mere side characters fated to die.”
Relani sighed, shuffling while still seated to throw an arm around Wynan, who leaned into the warmth offered as they both gazed at Léf’s sleeping form.
“Look…there are people who are mourning for the faceless who had to die to continue the story, aren’t there?” Relani insisted. “And there are going to be people who want to rescue them, too, like we do. But that’d be another story—their story, not the current protagonist’s—to tell.”
The only response Wynan had was to snuggle closer into Relani, suddenly feeling sleepy herself as happened with her (it had nearly given Meryan a heart attack once when she’d found Wynan sleeping inside a closet). Memories burst within her mind from Relani’s words, refutations and arguments as well as evidence and agreements to what her sister had said. How there was always someone in this multiverse that would know of a tragedy and mourn the people lost—that was why they were there for, too—and try and reach out to save them.
Well, Relani’s usually right when in these things, Wynan conceded, feeling her eyes shut. And she’s right in that we’ve always been there to fetch people driven to this point, aren’t we? But I’ll tell her she’s right when I wake up, though. I want to sleep…
The story would still be there when she opened her eyes.

kissing your lover lazily first thing in the morning . (you know 😎)
♕ kiss & tell . not accepting
Eirene had never been one to give sunrise much attention - it wasn't her favorite part of the day and rising early meant only that a full day was ahead of her. The businesswoman felt more at ease during sunset or the late hours of night - many deals had been closed and celebrated at such moments, and the cover of the black sky and the bright stars was strangely comforting.
The same colors of a chessboard - it felt like home, as if everything was following their exact path as she had predicted them to do.
But now, with the warm rays of sunshine coming through the curtains that they hadn't bothered to fully close during the previous night, it offered Eirene a new perspective. The regal suite that they occupied change little by little, patches of sunlight on the carpeted floor growing larger and advancing inwards until they claimed bits of the luxurious mattress, going on and on to eventually fall onto their creamy, perfect skin. The trademark of those who supposedly led easy lives in Eastside - perhaps true for Nathaniel and his exclusive upbringing, less for for a foreigner like Eirene.
(But almost no one would be able to tell that she had bled and suffered for Bryce Campbell; the woman looked every bit the ice queen she projected to the masses, untouchable and professional.)
Except that it was just an image - one that had been slowly chipped at and melted before the lawyer sharing the bed with her. Eirene had felt her heart going through the same motions as their suite: a black, dark place which was eventually conquered by light - his light. A romantic idea before the eyes of most, surely, but that wasn't what the businesswoman meant - she didn't see Mr. Fox as some sort of pure source of illumination to cleanse her sins and purify the woman in his arms.
Eirene viewed him as the yang to her yin; the other scale of the balance symbolizing the justice; the charm of the spoken word where she had the power of hard cash; a king of the courts to a queen of the boardrooms.
The Campbell heiress was not looking for absolution with him - Nathaniel was just another part of her, one that perhaps had been there for the longest time without either of them realizing it, and now it would be impossible to break them apart. They had been powerful on their own once, respected figures in their professional fields of expertise. Together, however - they were unstoppable.
Above monarchs - more like gods.
As the lawyer stirred, Eirene moved at his side - just enough to find some leverage to use her folded arm to gain a better angle and gaze at him while his consciousness returned and his eyes reacquired their usual sharpness and wit. Bicolored irises blinked in return, a myriad of emotions reflected there without the woman saying anything - she didn't need to, really.
Instead, the businesswoman leaned forward, partially crawling over him and uncaring for how the bedsheets slipped off her frame as she did so. Their lips met and there was no trace of make-up anymore, of the jewelry that adorned them save for the one piercing his tongue, no lingering concern for their appearances to the outside world. There were just the two of them and that hotel room and it was all that mattered.
"Good morning," she murmured upon parting from that greeting, but not much - Eirene quite enjoyed the way their breathing mingled, and how the soft movement of his chest became hers too, moving the president of Quinn gently as she nestled atop Nathaniel, "Or should I say good morning, my dear husband," a small, mischievous grin followed, "Did you sleep well?"

Common Mistakes Parramatta Residents Make at Lease End (And How to Avoid Them)
As your lease draws to a close, moving out can feel like a whirlwind of packing, cleaning, and coordinating. However, many tenants in Parramatta, Sydney, NSW, make simple mistakes that can cost them a significant portion of their bond. To help you navigate this crucial period and ensure you don’t lose any money unnecessarily, we’ve outlined some of the most common errors and how to avoid them.
1. Not Cleaning Thoroughly Enough
One of the most frequent mistakes in Parramatta is underestimating the level of cleaning required. Property managers in the area expect the home to be spotless, from kitchen appliances to bathroom tiles. Popular suburbs like North Parramatta or Harris Park may have older homes with hard-to-clean areas like range hoods, ovens, and corners that gather dust. These are often overlooked by tenants. Engaging a local Parramatta cleaner can be helpful, as they’re familiar with the standards that real estate agents in the area expect.
2. Overlooking Minor Repairs
Small damages, like tiny holes in the walls from hanging pictures, or scuff marks, might seem harmless, but in Parramatta, where many rental properties are newer developments, tenants can be penalised for not repairing these minor issues. Especially in high-demand rental markets like Parramatta CBD, landlords often expect the property to be returned in pristine condition. Patching up any small damages can make all the difference during your final inspection.
3. Leaving Behind Rubbish or Belongings
Due to the vibrant mix of apartment living and houses in areas such as Westmead and North Rocks, some tenants leave old furniture or rubbish behind, expecting the landlord to deal with it. However, most Parramatta landlords expect the property to be left completely clean and empty. Disposing of rubbish through local services or arranging council pickups in advance is a smart way to avoid additional costs.
4. Forgetting to Tidy the Garden
For those renting homes with outdoor spaces in Parramatta, such as in the leafy suburbs of Oatlands or Winston Hills, neglecting the garden can lead to deductions from your bond. Lawns that are overgrown or garden beds full of weeds are common reasons tenants lose money. Be sure to mow the lawn, remove weeds, and tidy up any outdoor areas before handing back the keys.
5. Skipping Professional Carpet Cleaning
Many lease agreements in Parramatta, especially in apartment complexes in the CBD or units near public transport hubs like Parramatta Station, require tenants to have carpets professionally cleaned. Skipping this step can cause issues, as property managers will likely ask for a receipt to confirm the job was done. Make sure to book a local carpet cleaner early, as demand for services can be high at the end of each month when most leases end.
6. Not Returning the Keys on Time
Returning the keys late can cause unnecessary trouble, especially if the next tenant is scheduled to move in quickly, which is often the case in high-demand rental areas like Parramatta. Some property managers may even charge tenants extra rent for each day they delay returning the keys. To avoid this, ensure that you organise a time to hand over the keys promptly.
7. Ignoring Required Maintenance
In Parramatta, where many rental properties are in modern developments, tenants can sometimes neglect to report maintenance issues during their tenancy. However, these problems often come to light during the final inspection. It’s a good idea to keep on top of minor maintenance, such as fixing dripping taps or dealing with small repairs, throughout your lease. By doing this, you can avoid costly surprises when moving out.
8. Lack of Communication with the Property Manager
Failing to stay in touch with your property manager or landlord during the moving-out process is a common mistake. In areas like Parramatta, where rental turnover is high, clear communication is key. If you have any concerns about cleaning, repairs, or returning the keys, speak with your property manager ahead of time to avoid last-minute issues.
Wrapping Up
To make your lease-end process smoother and stress-free, try to avoid these common mistakes. Whether you’re renting a sleek new apartment in Parramatta’s bustling CBD or a family home in the quieter suburbs like Dundas or North mead, being proactive about cleaning, repairs, and communication will help ensure you get your full bond back. With a little preparation and local know-how, you can breeze through your final inspection and leave on a positive note! Additionally, if you are busy then you can opt to end of lease cleaning Parramatta service to get the things done.

The Top 5 Things You Must Do Before Moving into a New Home
Moving into a new home is an exciting milestone, whether you’re a first-time buyer, renting a place, or simply relocating to a new space. However, amidst the excitement, it’s essential to ensure that your transition is as smooth and stress-free as possible. Here are the top five things you must do before moving into your new home to ensure that everything is in order and ready for you to settle in comfortably.
Deep Clean Your New Space
Even if your new home appears clean when you first step in, it’s always a good idea to give the entire space a thorough cleaning before you move in. Dust, dirt, and grime often accumulate in corners, behind appliances, and in places that previous residents or contractors may have missed.
Kitchen and Appliances: Start with the kitchen, focusing on cleaning cabinets, countertops, and appliances like the oven, refrigerator, and microwave. Wipe down all surfaces with a disinfectant to ensure everything is spotless and hygienic. https://propviewz.com/pune
Bathrooms: Give the bathrooms special attention by scrubbing tiles, cleaning mirrors, and sanitizing toilets and sinks. You may even want to replace the toilet seat for added hygiene.
Floors and Carpets: Sweep, mop, and vacuum all floors. If the home has carpets, consider having them professionally cleaned, especially if you’re moving into a previously occupied space.
Deep cleaning before your furniture and belongings arrive will help you start fresh, knowing your new space is clean from top to bottom.
Change the Locks and Secure the Home
One of the first things you should do after acquiring a new home is to change the locks. You have no way of knowing how many copies of the old keys are out there, so changing the locks ensures that only you and your trusted individuals have access to the home.
Door Locks: Hire a locksmith to install new locks on all entry doors. If your new home has smart locks, make sure to reset them and update the passwords or codes.
Security Systems: If the house is equipped with a security system, reset the codes and passwords, and consider upgrading to a newer system if necessary. Alternatively, install a new security system, such as doorbell cameras, motion sensors, and alarms for added safety.
Windows and Entry Points: Don’t forget to check the windows and other entry points. Ensure all latches and locks are working properly and consider adding additional security measures if needed.
Securing your home is vital for your peace of mind and safety.
Inspect for Repairs and Maintenance
Before moving in, conduct a thorough inspection of the property for any repairs or maintenance that might be needed. While a home inspection is typically part of the purchasing process, small issues can be overlooked or develop after the inspection.
Plumbing: Check all faucets, showers, and toilets to ensure there are no leaks or drips. Look under sinks for any signs of water damage, and verify that the water pressure is adequate throughout the house.
Electrical: Test all light switches and outlets to ensure they’re working correctly. Consider hiring an electrician if you notice any faulty wiring or electrical issues. This is also a good time to update light fixtures or add dimmer switches if desired.
Walls and Ceilings: Inspect for any cracks, holes, or peeling paint. If you need to repaint or patch any areas, it’s best to do it before your furniture arrives.
HVAC Systems: Make sure the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems are functioning properly. If the filters are old, replace them, and consider scheduling a professional inspection to avoid any unpleasant surprises after you move in.
Addressing these issues ahead of time will prevent disruptions and ensure a comfortable living environment from day one.
Set Up Utilities and Connectivity
Before you move in, you’ll need to set up your utilities and other essential services so that everything is ready and running when you arrive.
Electricity, Water, and Gas: Contact the appropriate service providers to ensure your electricity, water, and gas services are activated on or before your move-in date. You may also want to check the billing cycles and ensure the accounts are transferred to your name. https://propviewz.com/pune
Internet and Cable: If you’re working from home or have specific entertainment needs, arrange for internet and cable installation. Depending on your service provider, this may require a technician visit, so plan this in advance.
Garbage and Recycling: Don’t forget to set up garbage and recycling services for your new home. Check with the local municipality or service provider to confirm the schedule and any regulations regarding disposal.
By organizing these utilities and services in advance, you can settle in without worrying about disruptions or delays.
Plan the Layout and Decor
One of the most enjoyable parts of moving into a new home is planning how to arrange your furniture and add personal touches to the space. However, taking time to visualize your layout in advance can help avoid frustration and ensure your new home feels comfortable and functional.
Furniture Placement: Measure each room and plan where your furniture will go before moving day. Consider traffic flow, space requirements, and functionality. Sketching a floor plan or using interior design apps can be helpful in visualizing the setup.
Storage Solutions: Take stock of your storage needs and decide where you’ll place items like books, linens, and kitchenware. Make use of closets, shelves, and cabinets for efficient organization.
Decor and Personalization: Think about your style and how you want to decorate your new home. Choosing the right colours, artwork, and accessories will help make the space feel like yours. Whether it’s hanging family photos or adding cosy rugs, these details contribute to a homey atmosphere.
Planning will make the actual move-in process smoother and ensure that your new home feels like home right from the start.
Final Thoughts
Moving into a new home is a significant life event, filled with excitement and new possibilities. However, taking the time to deep clean, secure the property, inspect for repairs, set up utilities, and plan your layout will make the transition easier and more enjoyable. These five essential tasks help ensure that when you finally step into your new space, it’s ready to provide comfort, security, and the perfect environment for the next chapter of your life.
By preparing in advance, you’ll save yourself unnecessary stress and be able to fully enjoy the excitement of moving into a brand-new home!

The Importance of Spring Cleaning – Carpet Cleaning Edition for Sydney Homes
As we say goodbye to winter here at No Sweat Cleaning and welcome the warmer days of spring, it’s time to think about the age-old tradition of spring cleaning. While most people focus on clearing out their wardrobes or giving the windows a good scrub, carpet cleaning is often forgotten. But for Sydneysiders, giving your carpets a deep clean in spring is essential to maintaining a healthy, fresh home. Here’s why making carpet cleaning a priority in your spring cleaning routine is a smart move.
1. Getting Rid of Winter's Dirt and Grime
Winter in Sydney might not be as harsh as elsewhere, but that doesn’t stop dirt and grime from building up in your carpets. Rainy days, muddy shoes, and pet paws can all leave a mess in the fibres, even if you're vacuuming regularly. By the time spring rolls around, there’s likely a heap of dust and dirt trapped deep in the carpet that vacuuming alone can’t shift. Spring cleaning is the perfect time to bring in the big guns – a deep carpet clean. Whether you do it yourself or hire a professional, you’ll be amazed at how much muck gets lifted, leaving your carpets fresh and looking brand new.
2. Improving Indoor Air Quality
Carpets are like sponges, soaking up dust, pet hair, pollen, and other allergens. When spring arrives, the pollen count goes up, and so do allergy symptoms. These allergens often get trapped in your carpet, then circulate through the air every time someone walks on them. A proper deep clean will remove these nasties, improving the air quality inside your home. If you’ve got asthma or allergies, this step is a game-changer and can make your home a much healthier place to live.
3. Making Your Home Look and Feel Fresher
There’s nothing quite like the feeling of stepping into a home that’s clean and fresh, and your carpets play a big part in that. After months of wear and tear, carpets can start to look a bit tired and dull, especially in high-traffic areas. A deep clean helps bring them back to life, restoring the colour and softness. It’s one of those small things that makes a big difference – your whole home will feel brighter and more welcoming, and that fresh carpet smell? Bonus!
4. Extending the Life of Your Carpets
Let’s be real – carpets aren’t cheap, and if you want them to last, regular deep cleaning is a must. All that dirt and grit that builds up can wear down carpet fibres, leading to thinning and patches over time. While vacuuming helps, it’s not enough to remove the deep-seated grime that can cause permanent damage. By giving your carpets a proper clean each spring, you’ll keep them looking good and protect your investment for the long haul.
5. Preventing Mould and Mildew
Sydney’s wet winters can leave moisture trapped in carpets, particularly in areas like hallways and entryways. If left untreated, this moisture can lead to mould and mildew – not what you want in your home. Mould isn’t just bad for your carpets, it can also be dangerous for your health. A professional carpet clean will extract the moisture and stop mould before it has a chance to take hold, keeping your home safe and sound.
Conclusion
For Sydneysiders, carpet cleaning is a key part of any spring cleaning routine. A deep clean will rid your carpets of winter’s dirt, improve the air quality in your home, and bring back their fresh appearance. Plus, you’ll extend the life of your carpets, saving yourself money in the long run. So, this spring, make sure your carpets get the attention they deserve – your home will thank you for it.
Reach out to No Sweat Cleaning for all of your spring cleaning needs.

Mold removal miami: Your Comprehensive Guide to a Mold-Free Home
Tumblr media
Miami, Florida—home to stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and year-round sunshine. But with the tropical climate comes an unwelcome guest: mold. Mold thrives in the humid conditions that Miami offers, posing significant risks to your health and home. If you’re a Miami resident, understanding how to tackle mold is essential. Let’s explore everything you need to know about Mold removal miami.
Understanding Mold: What You Need to Know
What is Mold?
Mold is a type of fungus that grows in multicellular structures called hyphae. These structures can cause allergic reactions, irritations, and in some cases, release mycotoxins that are harmful to human health.
Why is Mold a Problem?
Mold isn’t just an unsightly nuisance; it’s a serious issue that can affect both your health and your property:
Health Hazards: Mold exposure can lead to respiratory issues, allergies, and more severe conditions such as asthma attacks and chronic sinus infections.
Property Damage: Mold can weaken the structural integrity of your home, eating away at wood, drywall, and other building materials.
Financial Impact: Mold damage can be costly to repair and can reduce the value of your property.
Identifying Mold in Your Home
Not sure if you have a mold problem? Here are some common indicators:
Visible Mold Growth
If you see black, green, or white patches on walls, ceilings, or around windows, it’s a clear sign of mold. These patches can vary in texture and appearance, often looking fuzzy or slimy.
Musty Odors
Mold has a distinct, musty smell. If you notice an earthy, damp odor in your home, especially in areas like basements or bathrooms, mold could be present.
Health Symptoms
Unexplained health issues such as coughing, sneezing, or skin rashes could be related to mold exposure. If symptoms worsen at home and improve when you’re away, mold might be the culprit.
DIY Mold Removal: Tips and Tricks
Thinking about tackling mold removal yourself? For small, localized infestations, DIY might be an option. Here’s how you can do it safely and effectively:
What You’ll Need
Protective Gear: Gloves, goggles, and a mask to protect yourself from mold spores.
Cleaning Supplies: Detergent, bleach, and water.
Tools: Scrub brushes, sponges, and a spray bottle.
Step-by-Step Guide
Identify and Fix the Source: Address the moisture problem causing the mold. This could be a leaky roof, plumbing issues, or poor ventilation.
Ventilate the Area: Open windows and use fans to ensure proper air circulation.
Clean the Mold: Mix one cup of bleach in a gallon of water. Scrub the moldy area with this solution, then rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly.
Dispose of Contaminated Materials: Seal and discard any materials that are heavily infested with mold, like drywall or carpeting.
When to Call Professionals
For larger infestations or if you have health concerns, it’s best to hire professionals. Here’s why:
Safety: Experts have the right equipment and training to handle mold safely.
Thoroughness: They can identify hidden mold and ensure complete removal.
Prevention: Professionals can help you address underlying issues to prevent future mold growth.
Choosing a Mold Removal Service in Miami, FL
So, you’ve decided to call in the pros. Here’s how to choose the right mold removal service:
What to Look For
Certifications: Ensure the company is certified by reputable organizations like the IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification).
Experience: Look for a company with a proven track record in mold remediation.
Reviews and References: Check online reviews and ask for references to gauge the company’s reliability.
Guarantees: A reputable service should offer guarantees on their work, providing peace of mind that the mold won’t return.
Questions to Ask
What is Your Process?: Understand their methods for mold removal and prevention.
How Long Will It Take?: Get a timeline for the project.
Can You Provide an Estimate?: Ensure you understand the costs involved before starting.
Preventing Mold in Your Miami Home
Once you’ve eliminated mold, keeping it from coming back is crucial. Here are some prevention tips:
Control Humidity
Use Dehumidifiers: Especially in damp areas like basements and bathrooms.
Ensure Proper Ventilation: Use exhaust fans in kitchens and bathrooms to reduce moisture.
Air Conditioning: Regularly maintain your AC to ensure it’s removing humidity efficiently.
Fix Leaks Promptly
Regular Inspections: Check for leaks in roofs, windows, and plumbing.
Maintain Your Home: Keep gutters clean and ensure water drains away from your foundation.
Use Mold-Resistant Products
Mold-Resistant Paints and Sealants: Apply these in areas prone to dampness.
Building Materials: Consider mold-resistant drywall and insulation for new construction or renovations.
youtube
Conclusion
Mold removal in Miami, FL, is not just about keeping your home looking good; it’s about ensuring a healthy living environment. Whether you decide to tackle the problem yourself or hire professionals, understanding the ins and outs of mold prevention and remediation is key. Stay proactive, stay informed, and enjoy all the beauty Miami has to offer without the hidden dangers of mold.

Renovate Your Small Hotel: 10 Warning Signs to Start Renovation
Tumblr media
There are unique challenges and rewards of owning a small hotel. It's your pride and joy, a space that welcomes guests and creates lasting memories. But even the most charming hotel can lose its luster over time. How do you know when it's time to consider a renovation? Here are 10 warning signs that your small hotel might be yearning for a refresh:
Declining Guest Satisfaction:Online reviews are a powerful tool for potential guests. A dip in positive reviews, an increase in complaints about outdated decor, malfunctioning amenities, or a lack of modern conveniences can be a red flag. Listen to your guests' feedback—it's a valuable roadmap for renovation priorities.
Rising Maintenance Costs:s your maintenance staff constantly patching leaky faucets, replacing worn-out carpets, or fixing dated appliances? These ongoing expenses can drain your budget. Investing in a renovation with quality materials and modern systems can lead to significant long-term cost savings.
Difficulty Attracting New Guests:The hospitality industry is constantly evolving. If your small hotel seems stuck in the past while competitors boast modern amenities and stylish design, you might be losing out on potential guests. A renovation can help your hotel stand out and attract a new generation of travelers.
Falling Occupancy Rates:Are your rooms sitting empty more often than not? This could be a sign that your hotel isn't meeting the expectations of today's travelers. A strategic renovation that caters to current trends, like creating co-working spaces or offering in-room smart TVs, can help boost occupancy rates and revenue.
Inefficient Use of Space:Small hotels often have limited square footage. Is your layout hindering functionality? Consider a renovation to optimize space. This could involve reconfiguring rooms, creating multi-functional areas, or adding features like Murphy beds to maximize efficiency.
Lack of Accessibility Features:Accessibility is no longer a niche concern. Many travelers require accommodations for wheelchairs, visual impairments, or other disabilities. Not offering these features can limit your clientele and potentially violate accessibility regulations. A renovation can incorporate inclusive design elements to cater to a wider audience.
Energy Inefficiency:Outdated heating, cooling, and lighting systems can be major energy hogs, impacting your bottom line and environmental footprint. A renovation with energy-efficient appliances, LED lighting, and improved insulation can lead to significant cost savings on utilities and help promote your commitment to sustainability.
Uninspiring Lobby and Common Areas:The lobby and common areas are guests' first impression of your hotel. If these spaces feel uninviting or lack personality, it can set a negative tone for their entire stay. Understanding Carpet Lifespan and Repair Needs
Your carpet isn't just a floor covering; it's an integral part of making your home cozy and stylish. Just like any investment, it needs attention and care are essential to ensure it lasts over time. Knowing how long your carpet can last and understanding when repairs are needed are crucial to being a responsible carpet owner. In this guide, let's dive into what factors affect your carpet's lifespan, how to spot when repairs are necessary, and the best strategies to keep it looking its best for as long as possible.
Factors That Influence Your Carpet's Lifespan:
Material Quality: The materials you choose for your carpet play a significant role in how long it will last. Generally, when you opt for better quality materials, your carpet tends to stick around longer and withstand wear and tear better.
Foot Traffic: Places in your home where people constantly come and go, like hallways and living rooms, will naturally show more wear and tear compared to spots that don't get as much traffic, like bedrooms.
Maintenance Habits: Regularly vacuuming, having your carpet professionally cleaned, and promptly cleaning up spills are all essential steps in keeping your carpet in good shape for the long run.
Installation Quality: When your carpet is installed correctly, it lays flat and is less likely to develop wrinkles, bulges, or wear out prematurely.
Environmental Factors: Exposure to sunlight, changes in humidity, and shifts in temperature can all affect the condition of your carpet over time. UV rays, in particular, can lead to fading and damage to the fibres of your carpet.
Signs Your Carpet Needs Some TLC:
Wrinkles and Bulges: If you notice wrinkles, ripples, or bulges in your carpet, it's a clear sign that it needs to be stretched and secured again. Not only do these imperfections look unattractive, but they can also pose a tripping hazard.
Stains and Discoloration: Tough stains and areas of discolouration that regular cleaning can't tackle may require professional spot treatment or patching to restore your carpet's appearance.
Worn Areas: Heavy foot traffic can lead to worn patches, especially in high-traffic areas. If the carpet fibres are significantly worn down, it may be time for repairs or replacement.
Tears and Rips: Tears, rips, or unravelling seams aren't just unsightly; they can get worse over time if ignored. Quick repair can prevent further damage and extend your carpet's life.
Odours: Lingering odours, like those from pet accidents or mould and mildew growth, may indicate more profound issues that need professional attention.
Strategies for Extending Your Carpet's Lifespan:
Regular Cleaning: Make sure to vacuum your carpet at least once a week to eliminate dirt, dust, and debris. Also, schedule professional deep cleaning every 12 to 18 months to remove embedded dirt and allergens.
Preventive Measures: Place doormats at entryways to minimize the dirt and moisture brought onto your carpet. Consider implementing a no-shoes policy indoors to reduce wear and tear.
Furniture Rotation: Move your furniture around occasionally to distribute weight and prevent excessive wear in specific areas.
Prompt Spill Cleanup: Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth to prevent them from soaking into the carpet fibres and causing stains.
Invest in Area Rugs: Place area rugs in high-traffic zones to protect your carpet.
Professional Inspection: Arrange for regular inspections by a professional carpet technician to detect and resolve issues before they escalate.
Standard Carpet Repair Techniques:
Carpet Stretching: To remove wrinkles and bulges, a professional can stretch the carpet to reattach it to the tack strip along the edges of the room.
Patch Repair: For localized damage, such as burns or deep stains, a patch repair involves cutting out the damaged section and replacing it with a matching piece of carpet.
Seam Repair: If seams have come apart or started to fray, they can be re-seamed to restore the carpet's integrity.
Carpet Re-tufting: In cases of extensive wear, re-tufting involves inserting new fibres into damaged areas to restore the carpet's appearance and texture.
Water Damage Restoration: If water damage occurs due to leaks or flooding, urgent professional assistance is required to prevent mould growth and structural damage.
When to Consider Replacing Your Carpet:
Age: If your carpet is nearing the end of its expected lifespan and showing significant signs of wear, replacement may be the most cost-effective solution.
Irreparable Damage: In cases where the damage is extensive or the carpet is beyond repair, replacement becomes essential to uphold the safety and aesthetics of your home.
Change in Needs: If your lifestyle or design preferences have changed, replacing the carpet allows you to choose a style and material better suited to your current needs.
Conclusion: Knowing how long your carpet can last and taking proactive steps to address repair and maintenance needs are crucial for keeping it in excellent condition. By following proper care strategies and dealing with issues promptly, you can ensure that your carpet continues to enhance your home for years to come. Remember, a well-maintained carpet not only adds value to your property but also creates a healthier and more comfortable living environment.
