For those asking how I am after the hurricane.... I can't answer all the DMs....
A week into Hurricane Helene clean up and I am fucking exhausted, every muscle in my body aches. My nose has come accustomed to the stench of fishy flood water. I've lost 12 lbs. without trying. My pretty manicured nails are long gone, my hair is in a perpetual ponytail since I don't have a lousy hairdryer. I have a black and blue mark on my cheek from stuff falling off a closet shelf onto me. Bleach and dirt stains all over my tshirt. I'm a wreck and so is everyone else here. We don't care ... all we care about is getting everything wet out of our homes and the drywall ripped out so our homes can dry out so the mold doesn't set in and destroy what's left. Then it can be rebuilt again. Fucking again, 13 months from when hurricane Adalia hit (we all just got done rebuilding from that one). My neighborhood IS A TRUE DISASTER ZONE, everywhere you look down the street is mountains of waterlogged furniture. I see neighbors and we just hug each other and cry together. A picture of a mother and her baby was in my yard, I don't even know them and it's blurred with water, the happy memory fading fast, I don't know why I just started crying for them, knowing they lost everything too. I pray they are safe. Pieces of my fence were ripped out and have floated away, hell I'm grateful a stranger returned my mailbox! Everyone on my block has to find a place to live, none of our homes are inhabitable unless they were on stilts. I found a place to rent, but for how long who knows... The goal is get the house fixed ASAP of course. No small feat when half of the state is hiring contractors etc.
The upside: I found out today the company I work for paid a months' rent and will get the 1st month power and water bill. I again, started to cry, when they told me. Tears seem to be a normal occurrence lately for me, and I thought I was one tough cookie. Ha. Mother Nature is kicking my proverbial ass. It's hard to go thru this once, let alone twice in a years time span.
95% of the house is empty so getting closer to the end of the hard physical labor, hence the weight loss. The city, state and federal aid this time has been fantastic.... they set up comfort stations with showers, washer and dryers (which I spent 3 hrs doing 2 truckloads of clothes, sheets, towels, curtains etc.) and they give us a free meal once a day. They gave us a case of emergency drinking water, and a box of pretty gross MRE'S (yes I tried it ..... the PB & J with crackers isn't bad) but it's survival food if needed. I am grateful I have friends that work for electricians and plumbers, so they got my hot water and my power working already. HUGE blessing. I've got industrial fans and dehumidifiers running so drying out the house is going well. Now I'm disinfecting anything I'm keeping as household items that will go to the rental place. Thankfully the rental is furnished. An entire home of furniture .... gone. Yes, I'm grateful I'm physically out of harm' way but to see the entire contents of your home (furniture, electronics, mementos etc.) at the curb as garbage is overwhelming esp. since I didn't have content insurance. But it kills me when I find things that have meaning and memories. I had my sons time capsule from the year he was born in the closet, and it's ruined. ugh. Stuff like that is irreplaceable. I should've remembered it was there but, in the panic, to get out you forget. I do have flood insurance though so the house will be fixed. I will be back in the house hopefully in 4 months with a little luck. I still have a house which is more than many that were hit in Tallahassee, some even lost their lives, so I am grateful. Continued prayers for Florida please 🙏🏻 thank you to everyone that has messaged me sending their love, thoughts and prayers and support. xox

Postcards From the Dusty Mountains
Took the kiddo out yesterday with me when I went a-volunteering because he is getting very tired of not having anything to do. You know it's getting bad when a guy misses school and is tired of being on his computer all day. I'm not being sarcastic either, I'm deeply sympathetic to his plight and I wish he could get back to school and the friends he was making and the brand-new boyfriend he's been taking those first cautious romantic steps with. He already had to live through COVID homeschooling for two years, and now this. Ugh. I have heard rumors that they are hoping to open the schools back up on October 21, which means two more weeks closed, but it could be worse. So many places still don't even have power, much less water.
Anyway, I took him with me and we went down to a food distribution in Swannanoa. They got hit very very hard, and we spent a couple hours helping a Chick-Fil-A volunteer team from Atlanta hand out hot chicken sandwiches and bottled water. In normal days I don't have much to do with Chick-Fil-A because I don't like their politics, but when the matter at hand is giving hot food to people who've lost their homes, you put the politics aside. I just wish the rest of the country was able to do the same, because I am extraordinarily tired of people thinking of North Carolina as a "battleground state" when the battle we are fighting right now is to keep people alive as the weather starts to turn cold and the water lines stay broken.
Today was busy because I actually managed to keep a doctor's appointment I have been waiting a month for, which was quite a pleasant surprise! The doctor's office is in Hendersonville, so the fact that they were open for business and that I was able to get there are both things that I might have doubted a week ago. I also had an appointment with a local HVAC outfit about getting a whole-house standby generator installed so that next time we have a power outage, we can at least power the fridges, the well pump, the dehumidifiers and my CPAP, with maybe some left over for laptop charging. The price he quoted me for everything except the propane tank and line was $11,000, which was not exactly unexpected but still a big ol' yikes. The good news is, his company bought several of the right size generators before the storm so they would have an inventory, so I could theoretically have a generator before winter really sets in. Highly tempting.
In the afternoon, kiddo and I went out to do more helping. If nothing else has become more apparent over this week, it's that we were and continue to be so, so lucky. Of all the teachers at my husband's school, we are the _only_ family who are still in our own home with all our utilities back up. We are the only members of our extended family in the area who have power. We are part of a tiny fraction of households in the region who have potable water coming from our taps. Given all of that, we decided that we were going to take my final paycheck from canvassing and put it into a community that was not lucky at all. Our Lowes got restocked big time this week, so I was able to go in and get a propane tank, a gas can, a huge box of contractor bags, a straight rake, a shovel, and a gas-powered chainsaw with two cans of fuel for it. We also raided our own house and took our own three shovels and straight rake, our garden cart, some very cute hiking boots I bought but hadn't worn yet, eight packs of bath wipes and two of our cell phone power banks and drove the whole thing down to Black Mountain.
Black Mountain is very close to Swannanoa and was also hit extremely hard by the storm. We didn't go around touristing, but even on the main roads we took we could see devastation everywhere. Everywhere the water touched was drenched in toxic mud, which has dried over the past two weeks into an awful choking dust that covers everything. It blows on the wind and rises with every passing car. As we drove I took the opportunity to explain how the search and rescue paint marking system works to Kiddo, because their bright green graffiti was on all the half-destroyed houses we were passing.
There's an outdoor music venue in Black Mountain called Silverados that has been turned into a massive distribution center. Hot meals were being passed out in the front, while the rear was a busy hive of organizing and distributing supplies. We went there and dropped off all our items, where they were carted away into an absolutely teeming hub of supplies and volunteers. We asked if they needed any more help today, but they definitely had enough willing hands. I think my dad will laugh because I finally did get the chainsaw he talked me out of, but then gave it away before it even left the box.
With a little time on our hands, we went back up north and visited our favorite grocery store, the one that sells lightly-expired canned and boxed food at greatly reduced prices. We were very happy to see that they'd come through the storm unscathed except for a lack of internet, and stocked up on more of the seemingly endless supply of Old El Paso meal kits that they sell two for a dollar. Cheaper than buying tortillas and taco seasoning, lol! We also visited the local record store, which opened for regular business hours despite the circumstances as well, and bought a couple of records because we want them to stay in business even though times are tough. It was, overall, an extremely successful outing.
Sometimes the world here in our house feels tantalizingly close to normal, an endless weekend where we are just waiting to go back to school and work. But just driving into town and seeing all the places closed for lack of water is enough to destroy that bubble, and driving thirty minutes in any direction is like stepping into a different world. Marshall, Spruce Pine, Swannanoa, Black Mountain, the River Arts District. Dozens more places that I have not seen and probably couldn't even get to if I tried. I'm very afraid for what is about to happen in Florida, for their sake and for ours. Appalachia has a long history of being forgotten about when bad things are happening. I really hope it doesn't go that way again.

Were my family assholes for evicting my cousin? After my ggrandma died her house was available. My aunt (will executor) let two of my cousins live there. Then the 3rd (call her Molly) moved in. They didn't charge rent but taxes and bills had to be paid and the dehumidifier in basement had to be kept up with as well as the lawn. They started getting letters from township about unkept lawn that wld result in fines. She would not mow the lawn. Molly also did not tell ppl she had left school and had no job. My aunt was finally sick of paying extra expenses to rent out the house and said they wanted to sell it. Molly immediately moved out claiming she was evicted and called my aunt to bitch her out. We (my household) were told we weren't involved and didn't have to choose sides. But now my gram (who has favortism for Molly's side) and Molly's family stopped inviting us to holidays and blocked us all on social media because we decided not to choose sides and still hung out with the family that made the decision to sell the house. I just wanna know is my aunt the asshole for not wanting to be involved in a house that has an irresponsible tenant? Or are Molly's family justified in being upset (Molly was free to stay in the house until it sold but chose not to).
What are these acronyms?

whenever i talk about the many uses of the beautiful household staples of baking soda and vinegar, my friends act like im some kind of baking soda and vinegar freak. like im someone telling you to take apple cider vinegar supplements. no pwease its just chemistry. baking soda genuinely has uses ranging from scrubbing soap scum to relieving heartburn to being an effective shampoo to dehumidifying... vinegar genuinely has uses ranging from an extremely effective odor neutralizer to a cleaner and disinfectant to a really good hair rinse and conditioner... and they both can be used to unclog and clean drains, and clean corroded battery connections... THEYRE weird not ME....

12 Week Year 3.1-5
This is Pandora. She's going to stay with her biped of origin until early next month when we can get supplies for her.
And now THE PLAN:
Vacuum upstairs
Work on the tapestry
Esperanto
Continue working on my antagonist
I was awakened at 5:15 am by the Husband, informing me that the water heater pipe had burst and his office area was flooded. He shut off the water and the electricity leading to it and used our shampooer to suck up as much water as he could until maintenance arrived. I decided that, since there was nothing I could do that he hadn't already, I was going back to sleep. So I did.
The water heater got completely replaced and everything is good. The carpet, however, is soaked. Maintenance left us a fan and dehumidifier.
Not much got done today. It was relatively hot (for Coastal Maine) and basically the whole family went into shutdown. We had Pandora for a little while to get her used to the household, and the Grandgoblins while the kids went to dinner.

HOW TO HELP YOUR DOG DEAL WITH SEASONAL ALLERGIES
For some people, seasonal allergies are a real pain. Whether you’re bothered by a runny nose, itchy eyes, or endless sneezing, it can be a tough time of year to endure.
Just like their human parents, some dogs suffer from the aggravating effects of seasonal allergies as well. Besides chemicals such as those found in household cleaning products, cigarette smoke and certain perfumes, dogs can also be allergic to natural, seasonal substances. This can include plant and tree pollens, mold spores, dust, feathers and fleas.
A dog’s allergy symptoms are generally similar to those experienced by humans: the immune system overreacts to one or more offending substances, leading to itchiness and irritation. Your dog may lick or scratch themselves, develop irritated eyes, or sneeze repeatedly. Some dogs experience itchy, swollen skin, while others suffer from diarrhea and vomiting. In certain cases, a secondary infection may develop.
Here are a few things you should do to help control any discomfort your dog may be dealing with due to seasonal allergies and reduce the risk of more serious problems.
ADAPT YOUR DAILY WALK ROUTINE
If possible, avoid walking your dog in the early morning or late afternoon, when pollen levels are typically highest. Steer clear of fields and parks where offending plants are common.
When you return home, wipe your dog’s body and paws with a moist cloth or a hypoallergenic, fragrance-free grooming wipe from your local pet store. This will remove excess pollen and other allergens from your dog’s fur and skin without the hassle of a full bath. Pay special attention to the paws, as the sensitive skin here is often affected by allergens.
Some pet parents soak their dog’s paws in apple cider vinegar to remove pollen and other substances. If using this method, mix 2 parts water with 1 part apple cider vinegar. Another solution is to put boots on your dog’s paws to prevent them from stepping in irritants and then tracking them into your house.
CLEAR THE AIR… AND OTHER SURFACES
Inside your home, regularly change air filters to cut down on airborne allergens that enter through open doors and windows. Running an air conditioner or a dehumidifier will help remove moisture from interior air, making it harder for mold to grow in your home. Minimize the amount of time your dog spends in damp environments, such as basements, bathrooms, or laundry rooms, as these places are more susceptible to mold growth. Vacuum at least once a week, and remember to clean curtains and rugs that may have picked up dust and pollen.
Protect your dog from backyard dangers. Many popular veggies like onions, garlic, tomatoes, and chives are poisonous to dogs and should be fenced off to prevent your furry friend from getting into them.
DON’T SLEEP ON IT
It's important to keep the surfaces your dog sleeps on clean, as they can quickly become covered in allergens. To achieve this, wash them in hot water every week. To make the task easier, consider putting towels or blankets on top of beds and chairs, and make sure to keep any offending substances away from the surface underneath. Also, don't forget to wash any soft toys your dog plays with regularly.
JUMP IN THE BATH
To prevent dry and itchy skin in dogs, it is recommended to bathe them more often with the advice of a veterinarian. While washing their fur, use a gentle, hypoallergenic anti-itch shampoo that contains a soothing ingredient like oatmeal, aloe, or evening primrose oil. Some dog owners prefer to give their pets a 10-minute soak in a bath mixed with a gentle moisturizing oil.
SUPPLEMENT YOUR DOG’S DIET
Consider giving your furry friend a natural dietary supplement like fish oil or a fatty acid such as omega-3 or omega-6 oil to alleviate itchiness and promote healthy skin. Coconut oil has also been shown to be effective in suppressing allergic reactions and improving skin health. To ensure your dog's overall well-being, it is essential to keep their drinking water and bowl clean and free of any contaminants.
FURTHER TREATMENTS
If your dog is constantly licking, scratching, or chewing, and has red, irritated skin or hair loss, it's best to schedule an appointment with your veterinarian. Depending on the severity of the problem, a professional can provide more aggressive treatments such as antihistamines, steroids, or allergy shots, which are also known as immunotherapy.

Alright, ordered a dehumidifier, more MSC, and a couple other small household items. I’ll have to find somewhere else to keep my resin jugs so the air in the basement bathroom will be breathable again since I have to turn that into a viable workspace and having to wear a vapor mask while washing hundreds of ponies doesn’t sound like a good time.
Probably out in the garage.

How does a roach enters my house? and why does it?
Roaches, also known as cockroaches, are unwelcome visitors in any household. These resilient insects have been around for millions of years, adapting and surviving in various environments. Despite our best efforts to keep them out, they always seem to find a way in. In this article, we will delve into the fascinating world of roach entry and explore the reasons behind their seemingly unyielding determination to invade our homes.
1. Understanding Roach Behavior
Roaches are highly adaptable creatures with incredible survival instincts. They are attracted to environments that offer them sustenance, water, and shelter. Understanding their behavior is crucial to implementing effective pest control measures.
1.1 Nocturnal Nature
Roaches are predominantly nocturnal, preferring to operate under the cover of darkness. This behavior aids their quest to enter homes unnoticed, as they seek food and water sources while humans sleep.
1.2 Seeking Food Sources
One primary reason roaches enter our houses is the abundance of accessible food. They are scavengers and can feed on almost anything, including crumbs, leftovers, and even pet food. A poorly stored or unsealed food source becomes an open invitation for these pests.
2. How Do Roaches Enter My House?
Despite our best efforts to maintain a clean environment, roaches can find several entry points into our homes. Identifying these entryways can help us seal them off and prevent future infestations.
2.1 Cracks and Crevices
Roaches are skilled at squeezing through tiny openings. Small cracks in walls, windows, doors, and foundations offer easy access points for them. Seal off these gaps to minimize their chances of entering.
2.2 Drain Pipes and Vents
Drain pipes and ventilation systems provide roaches with a direct path into your house. These pests can crawl up through pipes, making their way into sinks, showers, and even toilets.
2.3 Hitchhiking
Roaches can unintentionally enter your home by hitchhiking on items you bring indoors. They may hide in grocery bags, cardboard boxes, or second-hand furniture, making it essential to inspect and clean such items thoroughly.
3. Why Do Roaches Choose My House?
Understanding the factors that attract roaches to your home can help you address these issues and make your living space less appealing to these unwanted guests.
3.1 Warm and Humid Environment
Roaches prefer warm and humid environments. If your house provides these conditions, it becomes an attractive habitat for them. Proper ventilation and dehumidifiers can help reduce their appeal.
3.2 Availability of Water
Water sources are vital for roach survival. Leaky pipes, dripping faucets, and standing water create a welcoming environment. Fixing leaks and ensuring dryness can deter roaches from staying.
3.3 Clutter and Untidiness
A cluttered and messy house offers roaches ample hiding spots and easy access to food. Regular cleaning and decluttering disrupt their habitat, making it less enticing for them to settle in.
Conclusion
In conclusion, roaches enter our houses driven by their need for food, water, and shelter. Their ability to exploit small openings and their nocturnal behavior make them elusive and challenging to control. By understanding their behavior and identifying their entry points, we can implement effective pest management strategies to keep our homes roach-free.
Creating an inhospitable environment by eliminating food sources, sealing cracks, and maintaining cleanliness can go a long way in deterring these unwanted guests. Remember, early prevention is key to avoiding infestations and ensuring a peaceful coexistence without roaches

Innovations in the latter half of the 20th century allowed for much more ubiquitous air conditioner use. In 1945, Robert Sherman of Lynn, Massachusetts invented a portable, in-window air conditioner that cooled, heated, humidified, dehumidified, and filtered the air.[33]
As international development has increased wealth across countries, global use of air conditioners has increased. By 2018, an estimated 1.6 billion air conditioning units were installed worldwide,[34] with the International Energy Agency expecting this number to grow to 5.6 billion units by 2050.[4] Between 1995 and 2004, the proportion of urban households in China with air conditioners increased from 8% to 70%.[35] As of 2015, nearly 100 million homes, or about 87% of US households, had air conditioning systems.[36] In 2019, it was estimated that 90% of new single-family homes constructed in the USA included air conditioning (ranging from 99% in the South to 62% in the West).[37][38]

Best Practices for Cleaning LA Homes During Allergy Season
Allergy season can be particularly challenging in Los Angeles, where pollen levels and environmental allergens frequently rise. For residents, maintaining a clean and allergen-free home is essential to reducing symptoms such as sneezing, watery eyes, and congestion. Implementing a thorough cleaning routine is key, and professional assistance, like commercial cleaning services Los Angeles, can provide specialized care to ensure your home is a sanctuary from allergens.
Here are some best practices for keeping your LA home clean and safe during allergy season:
Dust with Purpose
Dust is a significant trigger for allergies and often settles on furniture, blinds, shelves, and electronics. Instead of using feather dusters that scatter particles into the air, opt for microfiber cloths that trap dust effectively. Pay special attention to neglected areas, like ceiling fans and baseboards.
Vacuum cleaners with HEPA filters are excellent for capturing fine dust particles. Vacuum rugs, carpets, and upholstery regularly, as these surfaces can trap allergens over time. If dust persists or becomes overwhelming, hiring commercial cleaning services in Los Angeles can ensure every nook and cranny is addressed.
Deep Clean Carpets and Rugs
Carpets and rugs can harbor allergens like pollen, pet dander, and dust mites. Regular vacuuming helps, but a deep clean using steam or professional carpet cleaning services provides thorough results. Steam cleaning eliminates allergens embedded deep within the fibers, creating a healthier living environment.
For households with severe allergies, consider switching to washable area rugs or hardwood flooring, which are easier to clean and less likely to trap allergens.
Wash Linens and Bedding Frequently
Your bedding can quickly accumulate allergens, especially if you leave windows open for fresh air. Wash sheets, pillowcases, and blankets in hot water weekly to kill dust mites and remove pollen. Using hypoallergenic covers for mattresses and pillows can also prevent allergens from building up.
If you're sensitive to laundry detergents, choose fragrance-free or hypoallergenic options to minimize irritation.
Control Indoor Humidity
High humidity levels create a perfect environment for mold and mildew growth, both of which can aggravate allergies. Use a dehumidifier to keep indoor humidity levels between 30% and 50%. Ensure proper ventilation in bathrooms, laundry rooms, and kitchens to reduce moisture buildup.
If you notice mold, address it immediately. Professional cleaning services are equipped to handle mold removal safely and efficiently.
Clean Air Vents and Filters
Air conditioning systems can circulate allergens throughout your home if not properly maintained. Replace HVAC filters with HEPA filters and clean vents regularly to minimize allergen buildup. Portable air purifiers are another excellent investment for improving indoor air quality.
Use Non-Toxic Cleaning Products
Harsh cleaning chemicals can exacerbate allergy symptoms. Opt for non-toxic, eco-friendly cleaning products to reduce exposure to harmful fumes. Vinegar, baking soda, and lemon are effective natural alternatives for many cleaning tasks.
Schedule Professional Cleaning Services
When juggling work, family, and other responsibilities, maintaining a clean home can feel overwhelming. Commercial cleaning services in Los Angeles offer tailored solutions to target allergens effectively. Professionals use advanced tools and techniques to ensure your home is thoroughly sanitized, leaving you with peace of mind during allergy season.
Allergy season in Los Angeles doesn't have to be a struggle. By adopting these cleaning practices and seeking professional help when necessary, you can create a healthier and more comfortable living environment. Whether it's deep cleaning carpets, addressing mold, or keeping dust at bay, consistent efforts will make a noticeable difference in managing allergy symptoms.

A Seasonal Guide to Carpet Cleaning in Harrow: When and Why You Need It Most
A Seasonal Guide to Carpet Cleaning in Harrow: When and Why You Need It Most
Keeping carpets fresh, clean, and allergy-free requires regular maintenance, especially if you live in Harrow, where each season brings its own set of challenges. This guide will help you determine the best times of year for deep carpet cleaning, as well as provide easy-to-follow maintenance tips to keep carpets in top condition year-round. With local seasonal factors in mind, this guide is essential for residents looking for the best carpet cleaning services in Harrow.
Winter Carpet Cleaning: Preparing for the Cold and Wet Months
During winter, Harrow experiences cold, wet weather, which often means mud, moisture, and debris tracked indoors. These elements can quickly penetrate carpet fibers, making them look dingy and worn if not regularly maintained. Since carpets retain moisture during the winter, they are prone to developing musty odors or even mold if not kept clean and dry.
Winter is a great time to schedule a mid-season carpet cleaning to help eliminate mud and reduce moisture buildup. A professional carpet cleaner in Harrow can effectively remove ground-in dirt that vacuuming may miss. Professional cleaning services use advanced equipment to deep-clean carpets, which makes a significant difference in maintaining a fresh and clean home environment.
Tips for Winter Carpet Maintenance:
Place doormats at entrances to reduce dirt tracked inside.
Encourage household members to remove shoes before walking on carpeted areas.
Vacuum high-traffic areas frequently, especially during rainy periods.
Use a dehumidifier in areas with wall-to-wall carpet to help keep moisture levels low.
Spring Cleaning: Tackling Allergens in Allergy Season
In Harrow, spring marks the beginning of allergy season, as pollen levels rise and indoor allergens build up. A thorough carpet cleaning in the spring is essential, as it can help reduce allergens, such as pollen, dust mites, and pet dander. Carpet cleaning services in Harrow can significantly improve indoor air quality by removing trapped allergens and pollutants.
A professional spring cleaning will deep-clean carpet fibers, helping to remove particles that can trigger allergies. If anyone in your household suffers from allergies, scheduling a spring carpet cleaning is a proactive way to reduce symptoms and make your home a healthier environment.
Tips for Spring Carpet Maintenance:
Vacuum carpets twice a week to help reduce the buildup of pollen and dust.
Wash area rugs and upholstery to remove allergens from all soft surfaces in your home.
Open windows after cleaning to allow fresh air to circulate and reduce indoor allergens.
Summer Carpet Cleaning: Preparing for High Foot Traffic
With the warmer weather and the school holidays, summer often means more activity, gatherings, and higher foot traffic in Harrow homes. This increase in activity can lead to a buildup of dirt, spills, and general wear on carpets, especially in high-use areas like the living room and hallways.
Scheduling a summer cleaning with a carpet cleaner in Harrow can help manage the impact of summer foot traffic. Since the weather is warmer, carpets dry faster, making summer an ideal time for deep cleaning and restoring carpets before they experience too much wear.
Tips for Summer Carpet Maintenance:
Establish a no-shoes policy for inside the house.
Encourage the use of area rugs in high-traffic spaces to protect carpets.
Spot-clean any spills immediately to prevent staining and reduce the need for future deep cleaning.
Fall Carpet Cleaning: A Pre-Holiday Refresh
Autumn in Harrow brings falling leaves and cooler temperatures, which can bring outdoor debris into your home. Fall is an ideal time to schedule a deep carpet cleaning before the holiday season, when you may be hosting family and friends. A professional carpet cleaner in Harrow can revitalize carpets, making them look fresh and clean before the holiday season kicks off.
Additionally, getting carpets professionally cleaned in the fall can help reduce dirt accumulation from outdoor materials, like leaves and soil, which are often tracked indoors. A fall cleaning ensures that your carpets are in great shape and prepared for any holiday gatherings or celebrations.
Tips for Fall Carpet Maintenance:
Use doormats to catch dirt and debris before it gets inside.
Sweep or rake leaves away from entryways to reduce what might be tracked indoors.
Clean high-traffic areas frequently with a high-quality vacuum.
Year-Round Carpet Maintenance Tips
No matter the season, there are simple steps you can take to extend the life and look of your carpets. Routine care can reduce the need for frequent deep cleans and keep your home environment cleaner and healthier.
Regular Vacuuming: Vacuum high-traffic areas at least twice a week and other areas once a week. This helps prevent dirt from becoming embedded in carpet fibers.
Immediate Spot Cleaning: Quickly cleaning any spills prevents stains from setting in and makes maintenance easier overall.
Use Carpet Protectors: In areas with heavy foot traffic, carpet protectors or mats can reduce wear on carpet fibers.
Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Stick to carpet-safe cleaners and avoid products with harsh chemicals that can damage fibers or cause discoloration.
Professional Cleaning Every 6-12 Months: A professional carpet cleaning service every six months to a year can refresh carpets, remove deep-seated dirt, and improve indoor air quality.
By following this seasonal guide and incorporating regular maintenance tips, you can keep your carpets looking and feeling great throughout the year. The team at carpet cleaning services in Harrow is ready to help ensure that your carpets stay clean, healthy, and comfortable, no matter the season.
