Haleana needs to be the one to hide Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion's eggs. Knowing what is going to happen, she needs to be the one that secures the dragon's future. I need a scene of her flying on Dreamfyre with the dragon eggs, hiding them somewhere so that their future is preserved. Have her talking to the eggs quietly, tell them to sleep soundly because it is not their time but soon, it will be. Have her spread the rumor that the eggs were stolen.

HotD Season 2/3

Sorry, they can say what they will, but there is no way anyone believes this was intended as Finale of Season 2 after seeing the episode. They just ran out of money for a final battle episode and decided to end the season two episodes sooner. (Confusingly with an episode containing a Tyland Lannister Comedy Spin-Off for whatever reason, which was great but strangely confusing at this point of the season and the storyline).

Also, I still hope the Rhaena thing turns out to be a red herring because if they go through with replacing Nettles with her as the new female dragon rider of the Blacks many important storylines leading up to the end of the Dance are just not going to work and might make audience even madder than the stuff which is supposed to come up will.

(I mean, they could just postpone Nettles, but still with Rhaena on a dragon there a problems ahead).

I wonder if they plan to go totally of book in Season 3 anyways, because some of the set up in this episode was very strange and hinting on very different things to come... But yeah, no answers for the next two years for all of this I guess...

I doubt it’s book fans spoiling everything when they managed to leak the entire season months and weeks before it aired. And then the final nail in the coffin was leaking the actual small highlight footage from the finale. No.. the final nail in the coffin was having Helaena spoil the biggest battle 1-2 seasons ahead. I Almost wish the book purist were actually spoiling something cause it would mean the show was actually following the book, instead of poorly written fan fiction.

But I also noticed the drop off of the fandom and it dropped off as soon as the finale ended. In previous weeks I guess people could trick themselves into thinking they wouldn’t totally fuck it up but the finale proved they could fuck it up behind repair.

I don't think I've ever seen such a fandom activity drop-off following a season finale like I have here. I seriously wonder if the HotD writers managed the perfect kind of bad writing that kills a fandom, rather than fan the flames with controversy in a way Season 8 at least managed to do in the short-term. It actually gives post Rise of Skywalker vibes. What's that Jenny Nicholson quote that came out of it? "The worst thing a franchise ending can do is make you feel kind of stupid and embarrassed for being so excited about it in the first place." And we're not even at the end, yet... it kind of feels like it.

In my observations it is because a lot of the season brought up both many of the same arguments for why the last season didn't come up to some's (bk readers but also those who saw a lot of bad or out-of-touch writing there) expectations OR/AND a lot of locals just got really bored. Most of all, I think it has to do with how many fans have grown very tired of either strict book fans either spoiling events (some weren't even actual spoilers, but that's a digression) or unwilling to rehash the ol arguments about "reliability", "adaptation", and the showrunner's superior vision.

For me personally, it's the first (I ended up repeating myself at least twice before I just stopped and gave short answers to some asks, sometimes with links to past posts, here on Tumblr) AND because I am embroiled in an intense job search.

I only watched the first 3 (70s) and 3 prequel Star Movies (Hayden and Natalie) of the Star Wars franchise and I prefer the prequels but i also am not at all knowledgeable about the lore nor do I see myself really getting into it. So idk what the online fandom was like after RoS, but I'll take your word for it. It's crazy and kinda sad (even though I dislike this show and do not plan on watching its 3rd season just for its impact and encouragement for many people to think certain things about certain things, I won't get into it here you can see my tags in my pinned post) how some fans feel the way Nicholson describes.

But I also don't know since plenty of people still talk excitedly about some aspects of HotD or all of it, esp on TikTok.
