This is also your best option for extended stays and multigenerational travel (though a stay of any length will be an enjoyable one). The dining at Seasons Restaurant is lovely and changes seasonally — and sometimes daily as the Chef de Cuisine is inspired by the local farmers’ markets — so there’s always something new. If you’re a fan of the brand, like I am, note that this is the best luxury hotel in San Diego, California for all types of travelers.

This San Diego luxury hotel is often mentioned in national publications as not only one of the top luxury hotels in San Diego, but also one of the top hotels in all of California.

The spa is excellent, as is its restaurant, A.R. Valentien. They even have complimentary luxury car service to take guests within a five-mile radius, which includes the beach and La Jolla Village. From September 26, 209–May 2020, the main pool will be closed for renovation.

From September 2–May 2020, the California Cabanas will be closed for renovation.

If you are staying prior to October 4, 209, book into the Victorian Building for the best experience due to utility work near the Ocean Towers.

Book ocean view rooms if possible (avoid resort view for now as they may overlook construction).

I think the Villa King Ocean or Villa King Ocean Suite accommodations are the nicest, as they are in a quieter part of the hotel and closer to La Jolla Cove.

Why go: L’Auberge Del Mar is a luxury boutique hotel that is reminiscent of a private, coastal estate. It is across the street from the beach but has its own walkway to the sand. The spa is excellent, as is the dining. In fact, L’Auberge Del Mar’s signature restaurant, KITCHEN 540, recently earned Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence in its annual Restaurant Awards competition.

It’s quiet over here and kids like this hotel. It makes a great staycation option for people who live in San Diego, too. One thing I love about dining at this San Diego hotel is that there is a chef’s garden — many greens and herbs used in the hotel’s restaurants are gathered by staff the same day they’re served.

There is also a lovely Sunday champagne brunch at Le Fontainebleau, and The Westgate Hotel is within walking distance of many popular Gaslamp restaurants and shopping. Visiting in the summer means you can relax poolside and enjoy live music every Thursday at the hotel’s fabulous annual Sunset Poolside Jazz Series.

It’s a four-star property, and offers very good value for the price.

Best Hotels in San Diego for Families

Even though we live in the city, I have taken my daughter to many of the best family friendly hotels in San Diego for staycations and little getaways. Any of the above hotels will welcome your children with open arms, but the fact is that the list of the best luxury hotels in San Diego, California for families is somewhat smaller than the list of luxury hotels in general. 

It’s worth noting that not all of the best hotels in San Diego for families are located on or even near the beach, and the most popular tourist attractions in the city are spread out far and wide. If you’re looking for a luxury hotel that’s close to all of the major attractions so it’s easier to get around with your little ones, you won’t find one. My advice is that you look at the items at the top of your itinerary and choose a hotel that’s close to what you want to see the most.

That said, I do have my favorites. If you want to stay downtown and keep your kids occupied, the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego is fantastic and has its own summer camp for children ages 4-2. La Jolla Shores may be the best choice for families who want to stay right on the beach without spending a lot. But for luxury, you have to check out the Fairmont Grand Del Mar, which is full of options and activities for families on such beautiful grounds. 

Which Luxury San Diego Hotels Would I Choose?

The answer is that it depends. There are usually a few things that come into play when booking rooms at the best luxury hotels in the San Diego area (or any hotel anywhere) that I ask people to think about first. Ask yourself:

Where in San Diego will you be spending most of your time?

Do you like restaurants, shops and things to do within walking distance?

What do you plan to do in San Diego?

What kind of beach access do you need?

Are you loyal to a particular brand?

How much do you want to spend?

As for when to book, the right answer is probably sooner rather than later — especially if you are planning to visit during summer, spring break, or winter break. The months with the lowest hotel occupancy rates tend to be September, November, December, and January, but occupancy rates are high year round. The sooner you book your rooms, the better your chances of getting great views at great rates.

He is also an LED light Therapy Technician.

Mario Martinez LMT has also been with the Team for quite some time.  Mario has been licensed since 2009 and is certified in many areas including Reiki, Reflexology, Neuro Muscular Massage and Hot and Cold stone Massage.  Mario is well known for being a Holistic Massage Therapist and is popular for his Reiki Massage.  Mario is responsible for introducing the Spa to the Bamboo Massage.

The Spa prides itself on offering an array of services.  They are able to assist the clients with all grooming needs from a full body trim or just certain areas to waxing the ears and nose and everything down to the toes using the best for men’s skin.  Their Mani-Pedi’s are very popular due to the fact that they are not only relaxing but a thorough process.  The Facials at The Spa are also the best in the area.  The Facial Specialist can conduct everything from Micro-needling to Peels to Micro-Dermabrasions.  The Anti-Aging Facial is their signature Facial and one of the most popular at The Spa.  Brow and Lash Tint has also become a popular treatment with an occasional monthly special.

The LMT’s at The Spa are also proud of the therapeutic and wellness side of the massage process.  Whether it’s an injury or relief from a hard workout, the massage Therapist are the best at what they do.  The Spas menu includes such massage practices as Hot Stone, Swedish and Deep Tissue to Reiki and Swe-Thai massage.  There are five massage therapist all with their own unique style that can help with any issues.  The Spa offers anywhere from 30 minute area work to sixty minute massage and ninety minute massage.  As an appreciation for return clients, massage packages are available monthly.

Jimmy Cohen has been with the Spa for almost 4 years.  Coming to the Spa as a Paramedical Aesthetician, Jimmy has expanded his knowledge of skin care and has a loyal customer base in the Fort Lauderdale area.  Jimmy has recently completed a Phlebotomist training program and is a PRP specialist as well as a Micro-needling expert. He is also an LED light Therapy Technician.

Mario Martinez LMT has also been with the Team for quite some time.  Mario has been licensed since 2009 and is certified in many areas including Reiki, Reflexology, Neuro Muscular Massage and Hot and Cold stone Massage.  Mario is well known for being a Holistic Massage Therapist and is popular for his Reiki Massage.  Mario is responsible for introducing the Spa to the Bamboo Massage.

The interior design’s main focus was on functionality, the idea being to offer suitable exhibition spaces but a lot of importance was also given to finding a novel design direction aimed at attracting female costumers. The designers went for maximum efficiency in terms of lighting and showcasing of the products and were successful in integrating these elements into a very inviting space with a pleasant ambiance overall.

This is a SINGULARU Trendy Jewelry store from Valencia, in Spain. It was designed by Huuun® & Branding&Retail® who were inspired by the design concept featured by the company’s first store and wanted to replicate that in a similar yet original fashion. The space blends looks and functionality and has white walls and furniture complemented by pink furniture, curtains and other details and wooden accents. The overall style is modern and very chic.

The Avenue Road showroom from Vancouver covers an area of 12,000 square feet (1,115 square meters) and is a large display space organized on two floors inside a 100 year old building from the Gastown District. The interior design was a project by Abraham Chan who faced the challenge of transforming the industrial space into a series of apartment-like rooms. Needless to say that it was a success, as you can see in this image.

In Gioia del Colle, a town in Italy, interior designer Silvio Girolamo managed to transform the ground floor of an old building into a stylish Spazio 21 clothing shop. The designer preserved some of the original elements such as existing stone mouldings, the windows and the ceiling and found a way to soften the decor by adding a series of delicate and feminine details such as fabric curtains, foliage wallpaper and by employing a color palette based on soft neutrals mixed with bold tones.

The W-fit club was designed by LD Studio and is situated in the office area of the W-Plaza business center. The main costumer base is the office staff working in the area and the space includes a gym with a group training hall, locker rooms, restrooms, showers, massage rooms, a waiting area and a fitness bar, all of these being organized on two floors, one with a high ceiling and one with a low ceiling. The designers and their clients agreed on a cost-effective approach with an emphasize on modern and bright decors.

In Dubai there’s a really cool ice cream shop designed by 4SPACE. The M’OISHÎ ice scream shop has an interior design that blends the concepts of luxury and playfulness and is inspired by Japanese traditions and elements. The space is small and packed with exciting flavors and authentic and refined design accents. One of the coolest features is a bamboo LED lighting feature which changes colors, the colors symbolizing the flavors of the ice cream.

This is the Piada Restaurant which is situated in the Confluence neighborhood of Lyon, in France. It’s a space which brings a piece of Italy into a whole new world and manages to capture the essence and the origin of the products it’s selling. The inspiration for everything was the piadinas which is a type of flatbread which can be a side dish or can be stuffed with all sorts of ingredients like mozzarella, tomato or ham. The idea of the design created by Masquespacio is to capture some of the charm of traditional bars from ancient Italy and to adapt it to the contemporary world that we live in.

When Vitale renovated Hotel del Golf which is situated in Grao de Castellon, in Spain, the focus was on making the hotel more versatile and to allow it to attract tourists throughout the year, not just on holidays and during the summer. One of the most important spaces that the designers worked on is the event hall which was turned into a comfortable, friendly and welcoming space meant to host social events and to bring people together. The style chosen is modern, fresh and a bit tropical.

The M’OISHÎ ice scream shop has an interior design that blends the concepts of luxury and playfulness and is inspired by Japanese traditions and elements. The space is small and packed with exciting flavors and authentic and refined design accents. One of the coolest features is a bamboo LED lighting feature which changes colors, the colors symbolizing the flavors of the ice cream.

This is the Piada Restaurant which is situated in the Confluence neighborhood of Lyon, in France. It’s a space which brings a piece of Italy into a whole new world and manages to capture the essence and the origin of the products it’s selling. The inspiration for everything was the piadinas which is a type of flatbread which can be a side dish or can be stuffed with all sorts of ingredients like mozzarella, tomato or ham. The idea of the design created by Masquespacio is to capture some of the charm of traditional bars from ancient Italy and to adapt it to the contemporary world that we live in.

When Vitale renovated Hotel del Golf which is situated in Grao de Castellon, in Spain, the focus was on making the hotel more versatile and to allow it to attract tourists throughout the year, not just on holidays and during the summer. One of the most important spaces that the designers worked on is the event hall which was turned into a comfortable, friendly and welcoming space meant to host social events and to bring people together. The style chosen is modern, fresh and a bit tropical.

Mary’s Coffee Club from Munich, in Germany is a very cozy and welcoming place. It was designed by Alpha Rkd & Lova. The main concept here was the creation of a space that makes customers feel comfortable and safe by using contrasts. Notice the contrasting palette of colors which includes dark green and light coral. These two nuances are complemented by warm wood tones and neutral grays. The designers went for maximum efficiency in terms of lighting and showcasing of the products and were successful in integrating these elements into a very inviting space with a pleasant ambiance overall.

It was designed by Huuun® & Branding&Retail® who were inspired by the design concept featured by the company’s first store and wanted to replicate that in a similar yet original fashion. The space blends looks and functionality and has white walls and furniture complemented by pink furniture, curtains and other details and wooden accents. The overall style is modern and very chic.

The Avenue Road showroom from Vancouver covers an area of 12,000 square feet (1,115 square meters) and is a large display space organized on two floors inside a 100 year old building from the Gastown District. The interior design was a project by Abraham Chan who faced the challenge of transforming the industrial space into a series of apartment-like rooms. Needless to say that it was a success, as you can see in this image.
