💍 Wedding!AU (Kai Chisaki and CC)
It wasn't supposed to end up like this. For the longest time he'd always figured he'd be alone for most of his life. But here he stood in front of a full mirror, making sure every inch of his white and gold suit was clean and perfect. And for the first time in recent memory... Kai was nervous.
It was his wedding day, after all.

A demon comes into @crimsononiarataki's village
Tumblr media
"Food....." Ink whined a little as she walked into the village, feeling a bit peckish or rather famished. Her fraction has run out of supplies so they make a pit stop at this town to gather supplies. Ink was exploring the town until her stomach was growling.
Growling so much that the young drake could eat a horse. It might rival Gerald's. Speaking of which...where is Gerald?
"Oh, man! I think I lost him!" Said Ink. Maybe Gerald say that he went ahead and looked for some food. Ink hopes he didn't stray too far. "I think I need to find him or else Maggie gets worried!"
Then her stomach growls even more. Ugh. But food!

Insurgents usually weren't an issue. Not for Sephiroth, at least. The 'team' sent to the small town was, as he usually assumed, for show. Heavy forces, he could manage within thirty minutes or far less. Smaller forces and the time ticked down lower and lower.
But, Sephiroth had gotten ahead of himself on a few fronts. One, he did not expect organized groups over crooks, and certainly not organized groups with trained beasts to boost their power of attack. Two, he did not expect the only other SOLDIER present, a 2nd, to rush in like they were equals. No sense the usual process, none at all. Surely some awareness of the danger, but even so, reckless in Sephiroth's mind. Because he was the fighter, he was the one sent to end things, quickly, and leave those around believing the best in ShinRa, and if its not the best, than at least they know their swift power.
But things shifted in ways that, for once, Sephiroth didn't expect. He'd taken down most squads, but there were two groups left with at least two ferocious hounds each, one gifted with elemental magic. And the third group? Some dwarfed behemoth--smaller in size, but still sizable and just as dangerous, moreso because it's increased speed due to it's size.
The 2nd had manage to take down one squad, and started on another as Sephiroth was dealing with the third. But the 2nd was overwhelmed, with one insurgent left, and the behemoth being sent to claw him into ribbons.
Sephiroth watched from afar, and with lightening reflexes, he sighed as he carved down the last group and made a swift move to leap. Moving like a flash of light, he arrived to tower over the 2nd and sent a blast of thundara to disable to insurgent and throw off the beast before gifting it threat swift slashes that just faintly made sharp noises through the air.
The dwarf behemoth crumbled to the ground, sliding up to their feet and release it's last, hot breath. Sephiroth whipped the blood of masamune, and then slowly turned to look down to the SOLDIER he'd just had to save.
"...Have you had enough?" he asked. His voice was calm, one could almost assume giving the situation he was taunting, but his tone was easy and without judgment. But, the 2nd had jumped in when he wasn't needed, and this is the consequence. He wanted to see how he'd face it, now, with a moment to breath.

"Mr. Bankole, do you have a moment?" Nimble fingers tapped against the doorframe, green eyes appraising the teacher in question as Lo sauntered into his space without waiting for any real acknowledgment. She was, after all, a girl on a mission. "I'm sure you're busy but I thought we could discuss my grade in your class." The blonde had never failed a class in the entirety of her academic life and yet here she was trailing behind. Deft fingers closed the door behind her, turning the lock with the softest of clicks.

Jellyfish and Seahorse || Closed RP
Rioto Kirin decides to take a walk around the town, hoping to get food around here. He is craving some beef rice bowls. Rioto huffs as he puts his hands in his pockets. But then he hears a small 'Buu...' sound.
Rioto can't help but smile a little, looking towards his spirit companion, Miryu. A blue seahorse shinigami with neon blue underbelly with fins that looks like dragon wings as he has horns. Two small two-pronged antlers and one unicorn horn. "Don't worry! I make sure to get you some shrimp sushi, Miryu." Rioto smiles at him as Miryu lets out a happy neigh. As he walks down the alleyway that has small restaurants. He stops and senses cursed energy.
Tumblr media
"Hrrmm..." Rioto narrows his eyes to which Miryu lets out a sound. "Right, let's go, Miryu." He told him to which the two tracks down the source which leads to the rundown building. Miryu lets a small 'bu' hearing that.
He enters the building and hears the sound of fighting. Someone is fighting cursed spirits here. Miryu lets out a sound making him widen his eyes, "Just one person?!"

At The Office || Closed RP
Just another day at the office, a middle-aged man with dark brown hair wearing a black jacket with his suit underneath came in with a small sigh while fixing his rectangular glasses. He arrived at his desk and set things up. He pulls out his laptop, small notebook, pencils, and pens from his brown messenger bag and sits on the desk. But then the man blinks as he forgets to take something out. He goes to take out a piece of wood. A decorative hexagon shape made out of wood with ancient Japanese characters in the center with a string through the hole at the top. The man considers this a lucky charm.
Little does he know, this charm has an effect to ward off things. He goes to hang on his work lamp. He nods at the charm with a small smile.
"Ah, good morning, Nanami-san! How are you?" Hashimoto Yuma addresses his co-worker right next to him, greeting him a good morning with a small smile. "How are you? Hope your commute isn't bad." @hoshizorax

cant tell you how bad it feels to constantly tell other artists to come to tumblr, because its the last good website that isn't fucked up by spoonfeeding algorithms and AI bullshit and isn't based around meaningless likes
just to watch that all fall apart in the last year or so and especially the last two weeks
there's nowhere good to go anymore for artists.
edit - a lot of people are saying the tags are important so actually, you'll look at my tags.
#please dont delete your accounts because of the AI crap. your art deserves more than being lost like that #if you have a good PC please glaze or nightshade it. if you dont or it doesnt work with your style (like mine) please start watermarking #use a plain-ish font. make it your username. if people can't google what your watermark says and find ur account its not a good watermark #it needs to be central in the image - NOT on the canvas edges - and put it in multiple places if you are compelled #please dont stop posting your art because of this shit. we just have to hope regulations will come slamming down on these shitheads#in the next year or two and you want to have accounts to come back to. the world Needs real art #if we all leave that just makes more room for these scam artists to fill in with their soulless recycled garbage #improvise adapt overcome. it sucks but it is what it is for the moment. safeguard yourself as best you can without making #years of art from thousands of artists lost media. the digital world and art is too temporary to hastily click a Delete button out of spite

sometimes while i think about that while a lot of adults did not treat me very well as a kid i also get a lot of 'in hindsight this person was so good to me and i didnt even realize it until now' as an adult. today i was thinking about how the first anime convention i ever went to was when i was 10 and i asked the man working the manga cafe what manga was/what a good place to start was (because the con was very overstimulating for me and i had gotten lost) and he asked how old i was before recommending yotsuba and asking if i wanted any water or something to eat. its really simple but theres a lot of bad things that couldve happened or he could've been careless in his recommendation, but instead yotsuba has remained one of my favorite manga for years, and probably a large portion of why i continue to read manga as an adult... i think adults who try to involve kids in the world safely/kindly even in little ways make so much more of a difference than they ever really know.

Jeez. She made a big mess. Again. Her friends are not going to be happy...
But what can she do? Those guys were messing with people so she had no choice but to step in. Those guys were ruining her meal and it's really good too!! Maybe if she explains. Her friends would understand! Okay! Time to head back...eh? Wait...someone is standing there. Ink lets out a growl hoping to scare this guy off.
Tumblr media
"Hey! If you want to mess with me, try it!" Ink said. But on the other hand...
"But if you're the police! Uhhh..." The creature tries to come up with a good answer, trying to look around.
"Just to answer your question. Nope! I did not start it!" Said the teenager as she already beat up several bad guys that are now neatly put on the side. However, she caused some property damage along the way. By accident of course.
But overall, she did not start this fight! These guys did.

Federal regulators on Tuesday [April 23, 2024] enacted a nationwide ban on new noncompete agreements, which keep millions of Americans — from minimum-wage earners to CEOs — from switching jobs within their industries.
The Federal Trade Commission on Tuesday afternoon voted 3-to-2 to approve the new rule, which will ban noncompetes for all workers when the regulations take effect in 120 days [So, the ban starts in early September, 2024!]. For senior executives, existing noncompetes can remain in force. For all other employees, existing noncompetes are not enforceable.
[That's right: if you're currently under a noncompete agreement, it's completely invalid as of September 2024! You're free!!]
The antitrust and consumer protection agency heard from thousands of people who said they had been harmed by noncompetes, illustrating how the agreements are "robbing people of their economic liberty," FTC Chair Lina Khan said.
The FTC commissioners voted along party lines, with its two Republicans arguing the agency lacked the jurisdiction to enact the rule and that such moves should be made in Congress...
Why it matters
The new rule could impact tens of millions of workers, said Heidi Shierholz, a labor economist and president of the Economic Policy Institute, a left-leaning think tank.
"For nonunion workers, the only leverage they have is their ability to quit their job," Shierholz told CBS MoneyWatch. "Noncompetes don't just stop you from taking a job — they stop you from starting your own business."
Since proposing the new rule, the FTC has received more than 26,000 public comments on the regulations. The final rule adopted "would generally prevent most employers from using noncompete clauses," the FTC said in a statement.
The agency's action comes more than two years after President Biden directed the agency to "curtail the unfair use" of noncompetes, under which employees effectively sign away future work opportunities in their industry as a condition of keeping their current job. The president's executive order urged the FTC to target such labor restrictions and others that improperly constrain employees from seeking work.
"The freedom to change jobs is core to economic liberty and to a competitive, thriving economy," Khan said in a statement making the case for axing noncompetes. "Noncompetes block workers from freely switching jobs, depriving them of higher wages and better working conditions, and depriving businesses of a talent pool that they need to build and expand."
Real-life consequences
In laying out its rationale for banishing noncompetes from the labor landscape, the FTC offered real-life examples of how the agreements can hurt workers.
In one case, a single father earned about $11 an hour as a security guard for a Florida firm, but resigned a few weeks after taking the job when his child care fell through. Months later, he took a job as a security guard at a bank, making nearly $15 an hour. But the bank terminated his employment after receiving a letter from the man's prior employer stating he had signed a two-year noncompete.
In another example, a factory manager at a textile company saw his paycheck dry up after the 2008 financial crisis. A rival textile company offered him a better job and a big raise, but his noncompete blocked him from taking it, according to the FTC. A subsequent legal battle took three years, wiping out his savings.
-via CBS Moneywatch, April 24, 2024
--
Note:
A lot of people think that noncompete agreements are only a white-collar issue, but they absolutely affect blue-collar workers too, as you can see from the security guard anecdote.
In fact, one in six food and service workers are bound by noncompete agreements. That's right - one in six food workers can't leave Burger King to work for Wendy's [hypothetical example], in the name of "trade secrets." (x, x, x)
Noncompete agreements also restrict workers in industries from tech and video games to neighborhood yoga studios. "The White House estimates that tens of millions of workers are subject to noncompete agreements, even in states like California where they're banned." (x, x, x)
The FTC estimates that the ban will lead to "the creation of 8,500 new businesses annually, an average annual pay increase of $524 for workers, lower health care costs, and as many as 29,000 more patents each year for the next decade." (x)
Clearer explanation of noncompete agreements below the cut.
Noncompete agreements can restrict workers from leaving for a better job or starting their own business.
Noncompetes often effectively coerce workers into staying in jobs they want to leave, and even force them to leave a profession or relocate.
Noncompetes can prevent workers from accepting higher-paying jobs, and even curtail the pay of workers not subject to them directly.
Of the more than 26,000 comments received by the FTC, more than 25,000 supported banning noncompetes.
