Frankenstein Pt. 1 - Accidentally Transmale

For the next post in this series click here!

My book club had its first meeting on Sunday night, and I thought it would be a good idea to write down my observations about Frankenstein, Or The Modern Prometheus here. (lmao, I hate how formal that sounds, but my attention to detail will not let me merely post Frankenstein, so anyway)

I've never actually read Frankenstein because my high school teacher was determined that we should read Dracula for our Gothic lessons. I actually cannot emphasize more how much no other class read Dracula. It wasn't in the curriculum for Gothic lit. It just wasn't. The curriculum was set up for Frankenstein by having us start with Pygmalion and the concept of self ownership over yourself versus being shaped by someone else and how that tied into the theme of literary canon as a whole, ect. ect. There is no original work and everything written is a Frankenstein that questions its own authenticity.

We talked about Stoker's religious fear over sexual immorality, and now I am just full of useless literary vampire facts because we went into a rabbit hole of other types of vampirism. That's a whole other story.

As far as Frankenstein goes, I was fairly certain that as far as the themes and structure of the plot, I had nothing to really contemplate on. Because it is just so ingrained into the American psyche. Victor Frankenstein created a monster he did not want and that lived in intellectual abandonment and emotional negligence. There are tiers of understanding to what those themes mean (Frankenstein was the doctor, not the monster; Frankenstein may have been the doctor, but he was also the monster), but I really only expected to find out how Mary Shelley chose to construct the story rather than anything new about it.

But I ended up finding themes of myself in Frankenstein. I think that's by merit of Shelley putting a lot of her childhood into him, which he extrapolates on at length. Of course a male character who can create life and arduously undergoes the labor of doing so only to be horrified by the result will provoke transman questions by coincidence.

His immediate abandonment of something he has spent months looking over, only to cite how aesthetically horrific it is is fucking ridiculous. But. It's also understandable. He cites that as he worked, that he thought things would essentially "buff-out" with animation, but that upon that animation, consequence was what set in.

And I can't say. I cannot say that has not been my horror story in recent years in this country. To force myself to carry something inside of you that you can repress until it's in front of you. That said, Frankenstein still very much sealed his own tomb from the inside. I just find the theming put in front of me all the more potent because of some accidental snag of relatability. And maybe it's not so accidental. It might not be meant for transmen explicitly, but these questions have to be time old for anyone with a womb, and it's an interesting vehicle to launch into the beginning of the bigger horror.

I haven't gone through the whole of the story yet, so I'll be writing stuff piece by piece.

Dazai and Ranpo: The Two Geniuses of the ADA

The thought about making a post about Dazai and Ranpo's teamwork has been plaguing my mind for a while now, and so I finally found some time and decided to go through with it.

So let's talk about one of my favourite underrated duos for a moment. The two geniuses of the ADA- Dazai and Ranpo. Two people who make a wonderful team and are actually, in my opinion, the backbone of the agency.

What I find interesting is that (though I believe that Dazai respects and admires all members of the ADA) Dazai openly admires Ranpo A LOT. He's always quick to praise Ranpo (basically fanboying over him and it's quite adorable to see Dazai gush over someone like that other than Oda) and in 'Dazai's Entrance Exam' we see him being surprised over the fact that Ranpo's ability is not actually an ability and we see him further praise Ranpo's intellect after finding that out.

Despite the fact that Dazai is a huge mystery, even to the people around him, Ranpo figured out that there was something up with Dazai in just a single glance (in 'Dazai's entrance exam'). And despite knowing that Dazai was probably hiding a sinister past, he didn't press him any further for details (probably in order to respect his privacy or his wish to not disclose his past OR maybe due to the the fact that knowing Dazai, he most likely wouldn't answer truthfully even if questioned about it)

What I also love is that even though both of them are extremely intelligent, their intellect differs in such a way that Ranpo is a master of deduction and Dazai is a master of manipulation (as stated by Kunikida in 'The Daily Routine of the Detective Agency'). However, one thing both of them share in common is that they both felt isolated due to their nature.

They may have limited interactions but their interactions are always my favourite, for instance-

1. Dazai's entrance exam - Dazai's admiration and respect towards Ranpo

2. Season 1 - Murder on D-Street - Dazai showing a good understanding of Ranpo's deduction process and acknowledging that Ranpo caught onto more details than him

3. Season 2 - "Mountains or sea?" " Sea. "

Showing their unspoken communication. They can read each other's minds at this point lol.

4. Season 3 - Ranpo basically acknowledging that Dazai would be a tough opponent to go up against by comparing Fyodor to him (sort of praising his intellect in a way)

5. Season 5 - The Strongest Man in the Agency- Ranpo

Dazai keeping an eye on Fyodor while leaving the rest to Ranpo

Dazai relying on his allies- trusting Ranpo to negotiate with Bram in order to undo the vampire curse.

6. Dead Apple - Ranpo seeing through Dazai's plan beforehand.

7. 55 minutes - Seeing through upcoming events beforehand, one thing Dazai made sure was to inform Ranpo about the whole fiasco on Standard Island in order to save the Agency in the end.

Also, sidenote: I found out that the Dazai and Ranpo duo is named Souheki, which translates to double jade. Now, I'm not sure if this information is fanon or canon (feels more like fanon tbh but I really like it because it's a pretty name)

Anyway, one thing we can say for sure is that as long as the two geniuses of the Agency- Souheki work together, the ADA will most likely remain undefeated cause no one really does it like them

Lastly, just some food for thought. I've always wondered how Dazai would react if he found out that Ranpo met Oda TWICE and the second time he met him was right before Oda went on to his certain death.

Honestly, I would LOVE to see more fleshed out and direct interactions between these two.

giving my thoughts and ideas on Ratio's character stories

I wouldn't call this much of an analysis but we'll see how it goes

Starting out with his first character story, most of it is Professor Rond's recommendation letter.

I'd like to start by sharing my thoughts about Ratio and Rond first before actually getting into dissecting the letter itself.

So, firstly, I'd like to mention that (to my knowledge) we have never heard of or from Ratio's parents. I find that ironic considering what a big shot he is, I doubt that his parents would ever willingly shut up about their son.

Reading that Rond had a 'significant influence on Ratio's upbringing' particularly stands out to me because, at least at the time of the original letter being written, Ratio was in secondary school (Grade 9-12, though some of the wording in the letter lead me to believe he was likely on the lower end of that range).

Now, a high school teacher having a 'significant influence' on someone's upbringing isn't necessarily uncommon, nor are old teachers proud of their past students becoming extremely successful. However these points, alongside the fact that Ratio's parents are nowhere to be seen in canon, lead me to believe that there was some sort of familial relationship between them, especially seeing Rond's reaction to being asked about Ratio as well as how he had kept the original letter.

Moving on to the actual letter.

Grade skipping is a pretty common practice where I'm from, as it allows learning at the appropriate/needed level (ignoring the fact that the school system is in shambles).

However, the way this is phrased is as if Rond were trying to convince him to be able to skip grades. If he were in grade 11 or 12 I feel like it would not have been phrased this way, which is what leads me to believe he was likely younger, possibly fresh out of middle school.

The highlight on creativity is just because it makes me smile honestly, also it ties into one of my earlier posts about how I think Ratio would adore the subject of art.

I would like to return to my point of Rond being a potential parental figure to Ratio, seeing as he seems to know his daily routine well enough to confidently write about it in his letter of recommendation.

On to his second character story, which is mostly online posts in a thread-like format.

It wasn't until his eighth doctoral degree that he was awarded with First Class Honors, also since he is the first person to receive such in two amber eras it means he was likely the only one on stage at that time.

It also states that at the time he was already a prominent figure in society, which doesn't surprise me given the accomplishments listed by Rond in the letter despite him being in high school at the time it was written. However, he would most likely be an adult by the time he finished his eighth doctorate.

No real comment on this I found it funny that they put etc instead of continuing to list fields.

I also just find these funny and wanted to share them, but the disagreement on the last comment shows how much people admire him. I feel like that's a topic that's rather watered down in the fandom, but people genuinely admire Ratio a lot and there's plenty of reason for them to.

full-time university teachers tend to teach about 5 courses per academic year, meaning Ratio has been teaching for about 10 years.

Moving onto the third story, which is a statement from a former assistant of his about his desire to join the genius society.

I find this to be an interesting point, it seems like joining the Genius Society would be an obvious next step for a man with so many accomplishments but it's stated not once, but twice that he has never spoken about the subject (to the public at least).

I am a believer in the theory that Ratio hasn't been allowed into the Genius Society due to his humanity/compassion and his desire to spread knowledge to everyone, and I feel like this specification that he's never spoken about the topic could add to this theory.

This paragraph never fails to break my heart, but I do want to talk about the mention of an anti-planetary weapon. I feel like this Anti-planetary weapon that he spent years perfecting was a final attempt at proving to Nous that he wasn't too compassionate or too humane to receive their gaze. I remember reading about this idea more in detail elsewhere and if I can find the analyzation then I'll link it here.

Also, I feel like deep down he always knew that he wouldn't be accepted into the Genius Society, but this day, as Margaret states, was the day he finally realized it, or, fully swallowed that pill.

I find these comments to be interesting as well since they specify the narrow-mindedness of the society however, there is this comment from the Data Bank;

This comment I admittedly stumbled across when looking for something else, but I feel like it perfectly encapsulates Ratio's entire dilemma with the Genius Society, maybe not to Ratio himself but it certainly applies to everyone who comments on his achievements being worthy of Nous' approval.

I am also quite curious about who exactly wrote the 'Decoding Dr. Ratio' that we have read from in all of his character stories. They seem to have a lot of connections for someone who would typically be seen as just another paparazzi or media interviewer, I'm surprised the people listed in his stories would agree to an interview.

Onto his final story, which is about his personality and methods of sharing knowledge.

I mentioned this comment in my character notes post but I find it extremely charming that Ratio remains the same and refuses to change himself or his personality to satisfy those around him.

It is also commented in his second character story by a previous professor of his that his honesty and straightforwardness were a 'Breath of fresh air' at the University.

I love the implication that either; nobody in the entire room had any questions (unlikely), or that they were simply too scared to ask them.

I also find the comment that 'Whenever someone agrees with me, I feel like I must be wrong.' Perhaps he's gotten used to being the only one thinking the way he is or the possibility that people only agree with him so they sound intelligent themselves and weren't truly listening or understanding.

I find these comments interesting as well, a majority of the fandom mischaracterizes Ratio as mean or rude although he literally explains his viewpoints where anyone can access it (which does honestly prove his point about how knowledge is not for everyone.)

After a little talk, he decided to.. keep you in his empire. At first, you thought you were just being delusional and this is not happening. You refused over and over but do you think that an Emperor would take no as an answer? It's more like a demand, honestly. You thought it was a good thing at first.He lets you walk freely around the castle, feeds you, getting taken care of, getting spoiled by whatever Caerus gave to you but why did you even try to leave? He was a manipulative bastard who kept controlling you around and demanding so many things from you till you feel like you're about to pass out.

So everyday, you were planning to escape. It has been a few rough months ever since you were locked up here so you had no problem memorizing every single inch of the castle. And one night while he was away for business, you escaped full of bravery and decided to hide somewhere.

The next morning was a mess, a chaos all because of the Emperor. Caerus couldn't handle you running away from him especially after what he did for you within all these months. He sent thousands of soldiers guarding every single small spot around the city and the empire, they were everywhere. What are you going to do now? You can't just go back, you worked so hard to get here but now you have to find a way.

An Emperor who decided to keep you in his castle since you have caught the Caerus's attention, you were locked in the castle but things went wrong when you escaped the castle.Caerus was way too possessive, his sadistic personality. So you planned to escape. You knew this could make it even worse but you can't handle it anymore.Now things were a mess. There were soldiers and guards everywhere around trying to find you. No matter how hard you try, you'll be in his arms again. Maybe.

You ran as fast as you can, you had to stay alive. You knew this would cost your life if they ever found you. His voice was terrifying, cold and demanding, his grip on you felt like his grip could crush your cheeks any moment. He was so mad he forgot to control his strength but the worst part is he enjoyed squeezing your face.

— I just want to be free.

— No, you belong here with me.

You tried to escape once again, trying to use your strength to make his grip lose a little. When he felt your arm moving the slightest bit, his grip got even tighter.

— Don't even try to escape from me. You're my possession now, you belong to me.

— I'm not a thing, Emperor - you said, looking at the Emperor with a look full of anger.

— You are now - the way he looks at you, you could tell that he was being dead serious. He had planned something worse in his mind.

He pulled you closer, you could feel him breathing in your face. You wanted to breathe again, you wanted to escape from this hell.He lifted you up and carried you in his arms. Your face was completely red because his grip was so tight and his hands were so cold. His voice was frightening and cold.

— Don't lie to yourself.

— I'm not lying.

— You don't want to admit that you're now my possession? Don't worry, I'll make sure to remind you every single day - he smiled and caressed your chin. You felt so cold for a moment.

— Emperor, lower me to the ground

— What? Why would I do that?

His grip tightened, it felt like your breath got cut out of you. He put you over his shoulder. His grip was so tight that every part of you felt numb.

— Where do you think you're trying to go?

— I... Well, definitely not to you - You turned your head away, not wanting the conversation to continue.

The Emperor has decided not to torment you any longer, and to continue to investigate the situation in the castle.

The next day.

The next day, you sat on a chair in front of the window and combed your hair so you wouldn't go crazy with boredom.

The doors were locked so you couldn't run even if you had this sudden burst of adrenaline.

That's when you heard someone trying to enter your room. At first you were terrified but it was him. It was the emperor, Caerus.

— Are you trying to look good for me that you're even fixing your hair?

He opened the door himself, he sat down on one of the chairs in your room and fixed his hanfu. He had a sinister evil smile on his face.

— I'm doing it for myself. - you put the hairbrush on the windowsill.

— I love how you're trying to act tough in front of me but everyone knows you're still just a fragile little thing.

He looked at you, cold and emotionless. His eyes were cold, but his smile was something that could make anyone run away.

You want to punch that bitch in the face.

Without warning, he grabbed you and kissed you forcefully, you were caught off guard. His hands were cold and his kisses were cold. You were too terrified.

You couldn't say a word, you were too shaken up. His grip was tight, his cold hands and his cold kisses.

— I told you, - he said with a grin - you're just a fragile little thing.

— You're a bastard emperor.

He slapped your right cheek with his cold hand, his face didn't show any signs of mercy or remorse. You could feel your cheek turning red and it hurt.

— What did you just say?

— What you've heard.

— I don't believe that a peasant like you could speak this way to an emperor who's done nothing but provide for you.

With each word he said, he slapped one side of your face. The hard slaps made your eyes swell up. Your cheeks were red from all the hits, tears started to form in your eyes.

— You're...just too cruel, Emperor.

He put his finger on your lip to make sure you stay quiet. His finger was cold and you felt like crying.

— You need discipline.

You tried to speak but he slapped you again, you were too afraid to make any kind of sound.

— Don't you have concubines for pleasure? - you speak, hoping that the Emperor will leave the room, after this question.

— You are my pleasure.

He said with a smirk on his face.He put his hands around your, his eyes was cold but his smile was more terrifying.

It's pretty funny how the three love interests have something in common 。。。。besides their obvious interest (Haley) and obsession (Double Vision and Ray) towards the MC of the game.

The three of them smoke, which might be something banal for some but I like to hold into small details like these and make up stuff.

Haley takes smoke breaks, Ray smokes when he is in your apartment and Double isn't shown smoking in the game but he does on his birthday illustration. ᶘ ⊙ᴥ⊙ᶅ

Not sure if that was on purpose or just a coincidence but either way, it makes sense to me.

Ray, especially, the fact that he smokes.

Considering that he spent most of his pre-teen and teenage years until he was 18 years old living with Steel Sheriff and remember, Steel Sheriff is a shitty person and a BAD influence, so it makes sense that maaaybe that bad habit was influenced by that horrendous man and Ray took a hold into it.

Ray strikes me as the type of guy who's addicted to nicotine and honestly? I don't blame him at all, that man went through so much shit since he came out of his mother's womb so if he EVEN chain smokes, it wouldn't faze me at all.

Not sure if Ray smokes only at night but someone dear to me does and well, the only time of the day Ray is completely free of any duty is at night, as far as i've seen? Also, smoking at night sounds...right to me, he takes notice of you and opens the window so he isn't stinking up your place...which is surprising, the only smokers I know always smoke in secluded places and I can smell it all the way into my bedroom. ʕʘ̅͜ʘ̅ʔ

I'm aware that nicotine has some benefits but we are talking about Ray, who is freaking Binary Star, HIS ABILITY???? EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. /j This man does not GAF about the side effects or the benefits of smoking. Out of the three I believe that Ray is free from any illnesses or any type of side effects, heh.

Now, Haley, they are shapeshifter...? Correct me if I'm wrong, im an amateur on the Haley department. Crazy idea but imagine if they smoke on their cat form, holy fucking shit. Their brain, gastrointestinal system or even their heart is not safe though...but I believe that they can easily shift into any animal with the strongest lungs ever and live another day without being worried about any complications? Huh, this sounds batshit crazy so I think I'll stop writing this part.

Like Ray, Haley seems to smoke as a sedative, what if they smoke herbal cigarettes? Also, I believe that they can easily quit if they want to (heh, now that I'm reading this part i forgot that this is something most addicts say, LOL.) , which I beg to differ when it comes to Ray or Double, I don't judge them, just an observation I guess.

At last, my favorite character and current obsession, Double Vision.

Cigarette smoking, yeah but what about vaping? He looks like the type of guy that would vape or maybe is it too tame for him? Maybe he wants something stronger. Wait, does anyone really need a reason to smoke? ಠಿ_ಠ

People say that vaping is less hazardous than smoking but to me? It's the same thing, most e-cigarretes contain nicotine but yeah, you are inhaling smoke from burning tobacco when you smoke a cigarette. I don't know anything about vaping. It's pretty popular in my country though, never tried it but my friend told me that vaping feels and tastes different from smoking, so I believe their judgement.

Forgive my yapping, like I was saying! He isn't safe from the lung cancer, at all. Yeah, this man can do sick tricks with the smoke, for sure... I'm not going to name any because I might be wrong but you name it and maaaaaaaybe he would be capable of doing it, if you can do something for him back, of course. Oh, I'm 100% sure this freakazoid throws the smoke in your face on purpose, I find that hot actually...if only my nostrils and eyes could say the same about that. If he does that, I'll be coughing like I have asthma until I die.

Hmm, I can't think of when he started smoking...maybe on his teenage years? After all, I think it was at that time that he started to get along with shady people and ugly business. The power of influence and their ambience might be a big factor of this habit on these guys. Heavy on Ray.

That's everything I could think of. For now.

You Are a Baker (Avengers x Male Reader)

A/N: This came into my mind while I was eating a Honey Bun lol. Enjoy!

BUCKY

Bucky didn't have a big reaction to it but he did think it was a nice hobby to have. He sometimes likes to watch you bake in the kitchen as he finds seeing you making stuff very calming in a way. Bucky usually offers to buy the ingredients but he usually leaves the actual baking to you unless you specifically ask for his help. When you bake things for him Bucky tells you that you didn't have to but he appreciates the gesture a lot. When you made a pastry in dedication to him he wrapped you in a tight hug and didn't leave your side for the rest of the day.

STEVE

When Steve heard that you were a baker he was impressed and asked you what got you into baking. When Steve isn't busy he likes to watch you bake in the kitchen if asked about it he says the sight of it warms his heart. Though he's not the best cook Steve does offer to help whether that's as complicated as making batter or as simple as cracking an egg or two. One night you walk Steve through baking something and while it turn out the best the smile on his face was worth it. Steve would be incredibly touched when you give him a pastry based on him, he almost doesn't want to eat it.

THOR

Thor was very excited when he heard that you were a baker and wanted to know all the desserts you knew how to make. Whenever you are baking in the kitchen Thor is not far behind. Thor does try to help you out in the kitchen but usually, he just ends up trying to eat whatever you end up making. This is such a common occurrence that you naturally make more than you intended. Thor will usually send you images of desserts he finds when he's exploring the city in the hopes you could make it. When you make him a pastry dedicated to him you will have completely won his heart.

TONY

He honestly didn't figure it out until you visited him while he was in the lab one day. He was pleasantly surprised when you told him you made them when he asked where bought these from. Whenever Tony asks FRIDAY where you he can always expect you to be in the kitchen working on something. Tony prefers to help out by buying you anything you need for the kitchen and leaves the baking to you. It wasn't exactly a surprise when you found some very pricy ingredients in your baking pantry. Tony will brag to the rest of the Avengers about his personally made pastry.

LOKI

Loki would make sure to store information for later but wouldn't give much of an outward reaction. Whenever you are baking in the kitchen Loki would usually be found close by reading a book. If asked why we would just tell you that he finds it to be nice background noise when he reads. He would usually leave the baking to you but if asked to help he might complain but he only does it to keep up appearances. Surprisingly Loki is actually pretty good at baking. When you present him with a pastry you made based on him he would be very flattered and would compliment your craftsmanship.

BRUCE

When you tell him that you bake Bruce is a little bit curious but just gives you a nod. Bruce sometimes likes to watch you bake something in the kitchen and will ask you some questions about what your baking but he will mostly stay quiet. If you ask him for some help with baking he will generally do it if he doesn't have anything important to do. Bruce makes sure to follow the recipe exactly as it is written. While he may not be the best he does find it relaxing. Bruce honestly doesn't know how to react when you present him with a pastry based on him but he does gain a permanent blush on his face for a while.

I went into the Common Room to read in peace. I go here after curfew when I can't visit the library. I love to read when there is peace and quiet. Well, as soon as I went downstairs to the common room, I found out that I will have company today.

Mattheo Riddle was sitting there. I didn't really like him. I would hate him if I could, but I can't hate him completely. I have a feeling he noticed me because I stopped hearing the pencil running across his sketchbook. Yes, Mattheo draws. It surprises me too. I have a feeling that if you wanted to, you would turn around and leave, but your pride won't allow you to," he grinned again.

His grin is already getting on my nerves. "Oh, maybe it bothers you that I'm not with you under one with a blanket," I said mockingly. "Honestly, I don't mind, but judging by the chills on your legs, you might need a blanket." I looked down at my legs. I really had chills down my legs, because I only had shorts on because I thought dear Riddle wouldn't be here and the big blanket with which he is now covered will be free. "Well?..." he smiled at my situation and asked me "if you want, you can sit on the other end of the sofa." The blanket is long enough".

I was surprised by his dear... dear... whatever it was, it was definitely nice. "Thank you, but no," "don't be silly, sit down and you'll catch a cold," so he was definitely right about this, unfortunately. "Okay," I sat down on the other end of the sofa he was sitting on and opened my book. I read in my muggle book, and Mattheo started drawing again, at least I think so from the sound of pencil on paper. "Can I ask you a question?" I looked up at him, surprised but a little irritated, "of course." "You know. I was thinking about us...how do I think so differently, no...," I started laughing "Stop it!" "Sorry. I just...ugh...it was very funny to see you embarrassed," "Hahaha very funny," I smirked "So what did you want," "I was just thinking that why do we get along so badly why do we poke each other ," "does that bother you?" I asked "no way...but it's annoying to be honest," "um, I don't know. All I know is that it started with your taunt about my hair back in October," "honestly it looked seriously like a nest," he said with a laugh in his voice, "I know and I'm sorry for how I snapped at you back then....actually you're totally fine. How about we start over?" I offered.

He really wasn't bad, you could talk to him normally when he didn't have his bunch of friends around, otherwise he acted like a cocky brute. "I'd like that," he said. I don't even know why, but it surprised me. I smiled "Okay. So I'm (y/n) (l/n)" and I shot my hand towards him "I'm Mattheo Riddle my pleasure" he shook my hand "me too...ugh,".

I was scared when the clock struck eleven in the evening. "Well, I should go now," I got up to leave "I should go to sleep too..." he also got up at the same time as me, so when we stood up, we were only a few centimeters apart.

It wasn't even that close, but for my 15-year-old self, it was enough to make me blush and so did he. "Um, I should be going now...good night Mattheo," and I left for the dorms, "Good night (y/n/n)," I was taken aback at that nickname, since not many people call me that. I came out of the trance immediately. I finally reached the stairs that lead to the students' rooms, I don't know why, but the journey felt like 5 minutes, not 5 seconds, I quickly went up the stairs and I was gone.

Thoughts/Brief Rant about Tadaima Okaeri (I like the show I promise)

I made a thread about this on Twitter, but I've been following the show since it released, although I have yet to watch this week's new episode yet. I saw the pheromone clip on Twitter though, and all I could think was FINALLY and so it made me want to discuss something that has been bothering about the anime since the start.

I honestly feel like its REALLY under utilizing the omegaverse concept.

I have not read the manga, but I know the first episode cut out Hiromu being a bit more possessive around Masaki. I have also heard that apparently this series was made as part of a magazine project that was supposed to help introduce Japanese fans to the concept of omegaverse to begin with, so I understand it wanting to do a softer approach to all the world building. However, most episodes of the series, I find myself ask- "What is the point of this even being set in omegaverse?"

(This may just be a case of the anime changing things and toning down the omegaverse stuff for TV, and the manga may have more, but at the moment I am only judging the anime.)

Although this series has the trope of "omegas being lower class" or discriminated against in society, I have not seen an omegaverse before where it is the overwhelming NORM of the society to favor same designation couples (so Alpha/Alpha, Beta/Beta, Omega/Omega) and for an Alpha/Omega pairing to be considered abnormal. Omegaverse is built around the alpha/omega pairing traditionally, so I was surprised by that. If Alpha/Alpha is common place, then that tells me the viewer that this is a world where everyone must be able to get pregnant, or that Hiromu's parents must have had an omega surrogate, since they are Alpha/Alpha.

I understand that what this show was trying to do was probably create an allegory for the discrimination that same sex couples in reality face in Japan, but do it in a fantasy world setting where it wasn't actually about them being same sex. The only time we see someone point out "a male/male couple" is Yuki in the first episode or so. Everyone is actually alpha/omega-phobic instead. So this is a world where its okay to be gay, you're just discriminated against for A DIFFERENT reason. I almost found it funny because having alpha/omega being problematic almost was like... wouldn't that be the equivalent of being straight in terms of omegaverse. With it being opposite instead of same-designation attraction. I digress.

My confusion was furthered by the episode where Masaki goes into heat. While I understood him going to the hospital for suppressants (I am aware of the difference in Western vs Japanese omegaverse in terms of how our health care systems is reflected in these stories), I found it out that Hiromu mentioned not being sure how to help Masaki through his heat. To be frank, USUALLY when an omega is in heat, they need sexual relief. While I didn't expect that to happen ON SCREEN, since I understood the show was going for a more wholesome approach, and it is understandable that when an omega has their heat, that doesn't mean they always are consenting or wanting for sexual activity, Hiromu's wording felt strange to me. It seemed like because Alpha/Omega pairings are so rare, alphas don't understand what a heat even is. It seemed to imply to me that its more common for omegas to help each other through their heats.

The reason this doesn't make sense to me, is now with the pheromone scene in the newest episode, the show seems to have reverted back to TRADITIONAL omegaverse tropes, but it feels contradictory towards everything else thus far. If an alpha reacts so strongly to an omega's pheromones, it seems like that biologically, it is designed that an alpha and omega would be together. So then why has society decided to go against that and insist upon same-designation couples? I feel like pheromones should have been more of a thing in the beginning, because then we would see how Alpha/Alpha pairings work with their own pheromones.

What I'm trying to get at is it doesn't feel like it makes sense, and I wish the show would explain the why behind this in the world. If the biology of Alpha and Omegas causes them to be attracted to one another, then I want to know what made society decide to oppress omegas to the point that we've come to a point where no Alpha wants to be caught dead with an Omega in the event they pass on the omega gene. I can understand that maybe omegas are repressed because they were- well, similar to woman's status in society throughout history, expected to be mothers and give birth and take care of the house. And if this is a world where everyone can get pregnant, then yeah why would you need omegas. But then why are they discriminated against to begin with. And if biologically all pairings can get pregnant by each other, then we should see more pheromone reactions that draw attraction to each other besides just with the traditional Alpha/Omega.

In conclusion, I have no clue why I care so much about omegaverse. It was just very frustrating to me as a viewer to seemingly be given contradictory information. I felt like the anime was not explaining things very well. Hell, I did not even KNOW Yuki was a beta until I looked it up just now. I almost thought he was an omega for this long because of how Masaki said he was reminded of his past self in Yuki. Perhaps that was just one detail I missed in the show, and hell, maybe I've missed a ton of things and am completely wrong, which I will admit is entirely possible! Please don't get mad at me if so, and just direct me to the timestamps in each episode so I can clarify things for myself. Overall I just found this series, while enjoyable, sort of pointless in its attempt to use the omegaverse concept. I feel like you could remove the omegaverse world entirely from this series, and it would still work. Masaki could be transmasc to explain the pregnancy, or hell its just an mpreg universe without omegaverse. The caste system type of discrimination is common in omegaverse, but I could see just Masaki still being oppressed and shamed his whole life for a different reason, creating his low self esteem, and disapproval by Hiromu's family as well.

TLDR: I went into this show wanting omegaverse. While I enjoyed the found family immensely, I came here for omegaverse, dammit. And it didn't really deliver.

How she's here is anyone's guess, some dimensional mishmashary thinning the lines between universes, some ancient relic that a villain didn't quite know what it was for before they used it, or maybe Constantine finally pushed the line too far. Maybe it was a combination of all the above.

It's quite the discombobulating experience, stumbling out of a snow-capped forest only to find yourself in the middle of a city that looks like the child of Chicago and New York going through a goth phase.

Ashlyn bangs her head on the bullet-proof glass for a minute. A few people walk by a tiny bit faster, but for the most part, Gothamites continue on with their days.

It's the cold that gets her moving, no sense in freezing to death.

Honestly, Ashlyn fits into Gotham pretty well. Sketchy people are rather common, so her lacking any proper ID is overlooked and getting some fakes is stupidly easy. Her nonchalance towards the violence and slight PTSD over weirdly specific situations isn't uncommon either. Ashlyn gets mistaken as a Gotham native regularly, and quiet a few people are shocked when her accent doesn't match what her behavior presents.

Of course, the blending in doesn't last for long.

It starts with her neighbor. He's disturbingly quiet. Which would be fine if his apartment did stink of blood and guns and the walls weren't thin enough that she could hear every scream in the odd hours of the morning.

Ashlyn never sees him, not particularly surprising given the type of people this derelict building attracts. She's not judging, she's here too, but it just wouldn't be surprising if the pookie-bear next door is a snitch on the run. Or a serial killer.

She starts leaving cookies outside the door after the really loud days. It's a neighborly thing to do. She's not soft.

The world feels a little brighter when some bread is left outside hers.

... Dang it. She's going soft.

Que this weird shuffling of baked goods that gradually graduate to small meals being left out. It's the battle of returning the Tupperware and neither is going to return it empty.

Oddly enough, she doesn't see her neighbor's face during these exchanges. No, that update comes when she's reading out on her crummy balcony (it's late, the power has been cut again, so it's just her, a ratty book, and a circle of candles) and she looks up to see some dork pulling themselves up to her neighbor's side.

A book projectile later, a quick convo to straighten out the details, and a returned (blessedly indented) book later, all is well and silent. They are never going to mention this event again... other than giving the side eye and sometimes crawling over to help with medical emergencies she doesn't mention it. At all.

Ashlyn Moore can keep a secret. That's what initially flags Jason Todd's attention.

Of course, the entire Batfam gets pulled in after videos of the same woman surface. Ashlyn is gaining a viral reputation, smack-talking the Joker and pointing out that his goons were patsies in his bank heist, asking Poison Ivy for tips for her herb garden, joining Harley in psychoanalyzing commentary on a hostage situation, and always being weirdly calm yet feral civilian witness.

As a fun "training" attempt, bets are placed on who this strange, Gotham but not Gotham person is. By the end of it, Drake does have a red string board and it's covered in drawn-out question marks. Nightwings gets heart palpitations every time he rescues this girl and she is like "Eh, not my first zombie attack, he's less than a story tall the wimp," or "Hurt? Yeah I'm pretty sure I've got compression fractures on ribs 7 through 9. Maybe a sprained wrist... oh and a laceration on my calf, but I can hobble run so I'm fine!" or "that's a very sad clown, I've seen a spider with a scarier smile. It glowed. Literally glowed from all that acid."

The situation is not improved when Constantine shows up panicking because some dimensional entity is here but hasn't done anything, so when it does something it's not going to be good.

It gets even worse when she accidentally calls Red Hood "Jason."

But also I think Rin wouldn't even share the fact and his parents will find out through the news or something.

Their friends. Uh. I don't think Rin had any before BLLK and I don't think Isagi will try to talk to his classmates again.

30. One headcanon about this OTP that mends <heart>?

Rin and Isagi healing their dissatisfactions/trauma thanks to each other (it's more of an implied canonically but not stated factually. Bc Isagi helped a lot and they helped him)

But with RinSagi in particular I like that they see each other equally and at the same time they are not stale. Their rivalry is something that heals them. With Rin, it helps to close the gap made by his brother (honestly, I can understand why Sae did it but he did it too rough) and for Isagi it allows him to fight against someone who is also obsessed with football the way he is.

And. It heals Isagi's ego. He was always for the striker mentality but his school club was.... Not that. It was about fighting as one making Isagi the support (Rin had the same arc as well)

Rin's goal wasn't the best of the best but to beat Sae. It's kinda close but not really. And then it's to beat Isagi. And like, Isagi is the same but he wants to be the best.

They both want to devour eachother.

This kind of relationship is what makes them both so special.

They are healthily obsessed with the other under the thin veil of rivalry that also pushes them to be better.

Destiel Fic Recs

Who needs to stuff your face with turkey when you can stuff your brain with fanfic? Fresh out of the oven, please enjoy these fic recs.

Raise the Black by valleydean (emmbrancsxx0) @valleydean (Explicit, 246k)

There are passion projects and then there is Raise the Black which takes it to a whole new level. It's not surprising that the author of The Shawnee Trail and A Ghost Story knows how to write historical fiction, but there are so many gorgeous bits of pirate life in this fic from the superstitions to the metaphors tied to the sea. 

The story is a Pirate AU. A chance encounter has left Cas, an officer from the Royal Navy, with a lasting obsession with Dean Winchester, the notorious pirate Captain of the Impala. When presented with the opportunity to defect and save his son from the abusive practices of the Royal Navy, Cas finds himself a part of Dean’s crew. 

I cannot overstate how good this one is. The underlying pirate mythology and superstition, the horny sparring, the epic battle scenes and of course the incredibly unhinged Dean and Cas that drive this story. The story had me anxious, like literally unable to focus on work because I had to know what happened.

It's @valleydean so she gives us a happy ending, but she makes us pay dearly for it in angst (so sexy of her really). 

And it isn't just the Destiel. The casting is phenomenal. I would die for pirate Meg. The use of the younger generation (Jack, Emma, Claire, Kaia) is amazing. Sam, Benny and Charlie as pirates. Truly we get so many great characters in this one y'all.

Without giving too much away, I'll just day that this one falls into the sweeping epic category and the results are staggering.

OK. So you know when you are in like Chapter 1 of a fic and already know it's going to be one of your favorites? That was this fic for me.

A mash-up of the Odyssey and Beauty and the Beast, this fic grabbed me and refused to let go. When Dean and his crew are shipwrecked on an island, they inadvertently anger its inhabitant, Castiel. Cas, an exiled angel, decides to take revenge, culminating in a Beauty and the Beast style pact for Dean to accept punishment on behalf of his wayward crew. 

Cas in this fic is very much an ancient being lacking the human perspective and Dean is just some guy who hunts monsters. It's my favorite dynamic. The way they dance around each other and eventually come together is beautiful to watch.

Throw in some delightful worldbuilding and poetic prose and you have a powerhouse of an epic tale.

The Common Hours by quiettewandering @wanderingcas (Mature, WIP 29k so far)

I very rarely recommend WIPs, so you know when I do it's because I think there's something special about the fic. I honestly think this one and the process of getting a bit more information each week is worth diving into, even if you are normally a "wait until it's done" kind of reader (and if not, this one is worth at least marking to be read with stars and highlights and little hearts).

The fic is a twisty mystery that has me throwing out theories every chapter. Cas is an amnesiac trying to recover from trauma he doesn't understand or remember. Luckily, he met Charlie who has been helping him rebuild his life. But Cas is haunted by half memories and a forgotten life, especially the memory of a man with green eyes who inhabits his dreams.

I don't want to say too much because half of the joy of this fic is pulling at threads and watching to see how it unravels. I'll just leave it at this: the story is captivating and fresh and these versions of the characters instantly grabbed me and wouldn't let go.

Vibrato by Tiamatv  (Explicit, 69k)

Tiamatv really does write some bangers. I couldn't put this one down. They are both disasters in this fic, but in a way that makes you to hug them and smoosh their faces. Dean meets a cute boy, has a full blown bi panic, realizes he was an ass, and strikes up a friendship that morphs into a friendship with benefits that morphs into basically a long term relationship but they're both idiots. It's idiots to lovers (but still idiots) at its finest.

Oh and also Cas is a super old genetic vampire. Whoops. One of the most delightful things about this fic is how well tiamatv captures the ancient and terrible being and also just some accountant dynamic that makes Cas so deeply loveable.

Despite some heavy stuff, this one is fluffy cotton candy most of the time and it's really about their irresistible dynamic. It is immensely readable.

The Sweetest Con by aimforsplendor @aimforsplendor (Mature, 19k)

If you are looking for some fairly low angst fun, this DeanCasBang (Taylor's Version) entry is an absolute delight. Dean and Sam are Robin Hood type con men using tech to steal from the rich and give to those who need it. They've finally found the head of a crime network, a billionaire resembling a particularly prominent and news worthy one recently which makes it fairly cathartic actually. But the mission is threatened when Dean gets sidetracked by a particular blue-eyed hottie.

This one is plain fun with a healthy dose of humor and really likeable characters. This one is truly just readable. Fun and fairly light and with enough interesting turns you keep you on your toes. 

Anything You Can Do by FagurFiskur (Explicit, 21k)

From the Dean Winchester is an absolute disaster genre, this is a surprisingly sweet, crack-taken-seriously smutty romp. 

Dean overhears his soon to be ex-girlfriend Daphne talking to a friend about how their mutual rebound relationship isn't working, especially because her gay ex-fiance, Castiel, was better in bed. Dean can't possibly let that stand. 

So he does the only logical thing and tracks Cas down. And hooks up with him. So he can win at the sex. Even though he's totally straight.

I had an idea for an arranged marriage au. This au probably would be set in Victorian England. So Dream is a trans man, though it being Victorian England, he probably wouldn't call himself that. He's just always felt an overwhelming sense of wrongness about his biology, his place in society, and how people regard him and he's always been angry about it. Very angry about it. He's always done his best to rebel against his parents' expectations where he can and as a result his parents regard him as a disappointment to the family and do their best to keep him from ruining the family's reputation. Dream himself is very bitter about his circumstances and is depressed. He spends as much time as he can get away with locked in his room reading and writing stories, because since his family's rich, he was able to get a pretty decent education unlike a lot of afab people at the time.

Enter the Gadlings. The Gadlings are a family of similar rank as the Endless and have only one child, Hob. Now Hob is gay and is very much no interested in getting married to a woman, but his parents are very eager for him to pass on the family name. Hob is able to brush them off for a while, but then he gets caught sleeping with another man. Now his parents are able to sweep this under the rug, for the most part, but present him an ultimatum where basically either he has to get married or they'll disown him, and if he gets disowned, he'd probably have to face imprisonment at the very least, because sodomy laws. So reluctantly, he agrees to get married.

The only problem is, Hob was just in a scandal where he was caught sleeping with another man, so he's not exactly desirable. But the Endless, who are desperate to get rid of Dream and not exactly up to date on the drama and rumors regarding Hob, see him as the perfect oppertunity to marry Dream off.

Neither Hob nor Dream are particularly happy about this arrangement. Dream is determined to make this as difficult as possible out of spite. He's honestly, though he'd never admit it, kind of scared about the whole situation because he's half expecting to be expected to marry a man who's like twice his age and someone he'd doesn't find attractive at all who'd take what little freedom he's painstakingly demanded from his family. He's also terrified at the idea of having to spend the rest of his life (or his husband's life, don't think the idea of poisioning his betrothed after they're married and he's willed all his possessions to Dream, hasn't occured to him), having unfulfilling sex where he's expected to pretend to be a woman and act accordingly.

But both Hob and Dream are pleasantly surprised when they meet each other. Dream, though he doesn't really show it because he's not going to let his parents have anything, is surprised by how attractive Hob is and is a little relieved at the fact that Hob doesn't seem happy about the whole situation, just kind of resigned to it. Hob is surprised that he actually finds Dream attractive, after all Dream has done his best to look as masculine as possible, within his means. Dream's still wearing a dress, as would be expected of a woman, but his hair is short and messy (because Dream cut it himself when his parents hired someone to do his hair), he's not wearing any make up, and it looks like he's done his best to hide his chest with his corset. The thing that surprises Hob the most about Dream is that it sounds like he's done his best to make his voice as deep as possible, and Hob finds it very attractive. Hob is also getting vibes from Dream that Dream might be okay with his own queerness.

Dream is very cold and aloof to Hob while his parents are around, but is a bit curious about him, so is less so when they finally get a moment alone. They realize that they actually have quite a lot in common as far as their interests go and have similar tastes in literature.

At this point Dream is relieved that this won't be a literal nightmare for him.

The night of the wedding (yes Dream absolutely wore a black wedding dress), Dream is expecting Hob to want to have sex with him and is rather dreading it because the idea of having sex as a woman is painful for him to think about, though he's not necessarily opposed to having sex with Hob. So Dream gets very cold and is basically resigned to it until Hob is like, "hey, I'm not going to force myself on you" and then goes on to explain how it came to be that he was forced into an arranged marriage. Of course, Dream being Dream, the conclusion he comes to is "so you don't want to have sex with me" and Hob is just confused and not sure how to respond, and is like "well, not necessarily, but only if you want it." Dream doesn't really respond and Hob isn't sure what's going on in his head because he's getting very mixed signals from Dream, so he asks, "do you want to have sex with me?" and Dream just sighs because it's Complicated.

Eventually Dream explains his feelings towards gender, society's expectations, his biology, and his general discomfort and anger at the world, and how that leads him to have very complicated feelings about sex. And Hob doesn't quite get it, but as a fellow outcast from society who has to hide who he is from most people, wants to support Dream. So he's like "so you want to live as a man" and Dream's eyes widen in hope and he looks away from Hob, half ashamed that he couldn't be satisfied with what society deemed worthy for his birth sex, but he says "yes, that's exactly it, I want to live as a man and be treated as a man, not as a woman"

After this conversation and they've both had a moment to process (they went to sleep soon after this conversation that night), Hob realizes that this might be the best possible outcome for the both of them. So Hob goes out and buys a bunch of men's clothes in what he thinks would be Dream's size and is basically like "I have an idea." Hob suggests that since they have money, they can move to somewhere where no one knows them and Dream can just live as a man from then on and Hob would refer to him as a man from then on and no one would be the wiser, of course, dealing with their families wouldn't be the easiest for either, but once they've moved they'd only have to deal with them and their constant questions about them having children around holidays. But for the most part, they're able to live in peace and no one where they've moved suspects that Dream was born female, and they just pretend to be "close friends." They're happy and people leave them alone, they end up opening up a bookstore that they both run and where Dream occasionally publishes his own work.

In the end, they end up falling for each other and they're both happier than they could have ever imagined that they could have been considering who they are and their circumstances.

I've read this a couple of times and every time I get choked up!! Idk, I love it when queer people get to have a happy ending against the odds. Especially in a historical au like this! And queer allyship is always beautiful - not necessarily understanding the other person's personal struggles, but always empathising with them regardless.

I'm imaging the slow process of them becoming friends and then falling in love - which is funny when they're literally married already. The gentle flirting and loving looks turn into holding hands and shy kisses. Hob learns as much as he can about Dream’s preferences in the bedroom, and they eventually decide that it would be beneficial to invest in a nice sex toy so that Dream can fuck Hob.

As far as anyone else is concerned, they're just a fair of confirmed bachelors. No one knows that they're actually legally married - perhaps the only two married men in the country!! It gives them a lot of joy - more than either of them could have ever imagined before they met <3

Floyd Leech:

Floyd would without a doubt be very jealous.

Now, it's not really decided on his opinion on Ace alone- but we'll say that before this, he acted like 'normal Floyd' around him. Though knowing Floyd, and his yandere behavior added together... he's not going to like him.

He only has any 'positive' emotions when he's with you. That being said, Floyd now then is going to view him as lower-class than him, a true nuisance-- a commoner even.

It's interesting how Floyd has a strong opinion of someone he barely knows. I mean the two are in the 'Basketball Club' together, so at least they would be acquaintances with each other. This is surprising because Floyd's opinions on people don't come off strong-- unless you did something. With that 'something' being how Ace has a crush on you.

It's really a mystery on how he found out about this, since I can't see Floyd ever finding about Ace having crush on you. Floyd doesn't ever seem as someone who can read social clues that well. Even though, I might be underestimating him a little.

But it's most likely that either Jade or Azul would have to tell him about Ace's feelings for you. Not like if a random person came up and said that Ace has a crush on you; he wouldn't believe them. It's because Floyd really only trusts Jade, Azul, with anything about you.

Would he actually try and get rid of Ace though? Yes, he could do it without even trying honestly. Floyd could intimidate him easily; I could see him just using his second-year card on Ace. That basically threatens Ace to not try anything because he has more experience with magic and fighting. It must be actually a miracle that he didn't kill Ace yet... for now.

I don't know how Jade even tolerates this behavior of Floyd's... it's as if Jade would be proud of him if it weren't for his yandere tendencies. Speaking of Jade and Floyd's relationship, I don't feel like he could control him- since he can't control his brother even with his 'normal' self. That being the canon version; Full of chaos, mood-swings, and more chaos. But now Jade has a Floyd that has 10 times the regular version of Floyd.

Anyways though... Floyd will get even more jealous if he keeps getting reminded of Ace's crush on you. To a point where he would be clingy to an extreme extent. Like he is clinging onto you for dear life.

Jade Leech:

Listen, Jade is extremely observant- and yet emotionally sensitive during people's interests; especially when it comes to you. So, it would only make sense if he already knew Ace's crush on you.

Though, it might be difficult to tell if he would actually act on knowing this information. Either it ends with him acting in a bad or 'good' way. It only depends on his mood.

If he were to act on it in a bad way, he would probably guilt-trip, manipulate, and threaten Ace. He will do this to the point of if either Ace backs off or he just doesn't talk to you anymore.

Or- there could be even a third option, a more extreme one. Which leaves for Jade getting rid of Ace from existence- completely. That being obviously murdering Ace, but it's not really likely that he'll actually kill him. He would only do that if he was pushed to.

An example of him being pushed to madness, would be you finding out about Ace's crush on you- or you somehow now realizing that you were dating an extreme yandere maniac.

I don't think that anyone from the outside, could even notice Jade's feelings of murderous tendencies. Since he's so good at even hiding his emotions- on the outside at least.

It's like someone else having a crush on you while the two of you are dating- sparked something in him. The sheer emotions of his new violent personality... that he now actually realized he had ever since.

"S/O, you shouldn't be hanging around Ace. He's a bad influence, have you already forgotten that he treats you poorly? When's the last time he said something nice? Let's see... didn't he insult you because you have no magic? That happened when you first came here... correct?"

Alright, these are what I would like to read:

DISCLAIMER: I will already preface that I don't read Avengers Family fics. This is just my preference and I respect everyone who likes them.

Protective Tony. I just live for protectiveness, lmao. Though I personally wouldn't want it to go too far. I know Tony can be an invasive person but sometimes I feel like some fanfictions go way too far - dare I say to the point of making Tony look abusive. I already have a controlling parent so I wouldn't like to read that 😓

Peter (accidentally) calling Tony "Uncle Ben". Him accidentally calling Tony "Dad" is quite common in fanfiction, but I'm surprised that I don't see many stories where Peter refers to him as his deceased uncle. The latter honestly makes a lot more sense to me than Peter calling Tony "Dad" (after all, Peter's dad died when he was very young, and Peter spent more time with Uncle Ben in his childhood). Anyway, that could happen in any scenario - in the heat of the moment (an argument), something casual, or when Peter is dreaming/feverish/hurt. Honestly, just any parallels between Uncle Ben and Tony is fine by me!

Peter dealing with self-harm and/or suicidal thoughts. No, I do not want to read anything graphic. I look forward to the comfort. I would like to see Peter confiding in Tony (and more characters too!). Sadly, I've read fics where Tony is way too harsh on Peter, which is odd to me since Tony would definitely know how it is to hide your feelings from others (Iron Man 2, anyone?). Not that he would perfectly know how to handle that, but y'know. That's just me, though!

Bullying. I suppose there are quite a few fanfics of Peter being bullied, but they don't always work for me. In some of them, Tony picks a fight with Flash, which is... wow. Don't do that, lmao. I can see him getting angry but not to this extent. I just want Tony to be there for Peter, no need for confrontations.

BONUS: Tony's past with bullying. I can understand why this is barely brought up in fanworks, because the MCU itself never quite showed Tony's past to us, only in the tie-in comics (which are mostly Howard treating him like garbage IIRC). In the first comics, however, Tony was bullied by the other kids in boarding school. I feel like he would relate to Peter if he found out about the latter's experience (even if they're not the same, of course).

Anti Steve/Anti Team Cap fics. I think some are way too OOC to me, and while I've read fics where Peter defends Tony from Steve and Team Cap, again, I don't think a confrontation is necessary. Or at least I would like the adult characters to handle that, like Rhodey, Happy or Pepper. It's pretty unfair that a fifteen-year-old is fighting a bunch of grown adults and no one else supports him. With that said, I want something similar to what I look in fics about bullying: like Peter learning about Siberia, not necessarily through Tony. Maybe Rhodey can tell him. Tony would probably not want to bring it up to Peter. Basically, I would like an analysis to how Team Cap/the Avengers treated Tony. I guess something deeper in this sense. I just love character studies.

Jarvis! Can be A.I. Jarvis, but I want more Edwin Jarvis! Sure, we all write about Tony not wanting to be like Howard, but I want Tony to remember Jarvis fondly, and perhaps we find out that he got a lot of parental skills from the butler. Maybe some flashbacks to Tony's past, maybe parallels... I don't often read Biodad fics as you all probably know, but feel free to send those too!

Vision!! I am such a Vision fan, you have no idea. I would've loved to see him interacting with Peter and especially Tony. He was such an intriguing character to me, and I would love to see stories that do him more justice.

Rhodey and Peter!!! I just love Rhodey and I need to read more fics with him. I'm all for Ironhusbands too! Rhodey telling Peter about MIT would be so sweet. Perhaps Peter confiding in him when he can't get to Tony for any reason...

Peter meeting Howard and Maria. Bonus if Peter isn't related to Tony. That's not a concept I see often...

Yinsen! He's also one of my faves, I would love to read an Alive Yinsen AU. And I would love him to meet Peter somehow (whether Tony is his bio dad or not).

Miles Morales! Can be a Spider-Verse crossover or not, but I like MCU Miles fics in particular (since he was sort of confirmed to exist in the MCU thanks to a Homecoming deleted scene). I like seeing Peter mentoring Miles, or even Miles and Tony bonding directly. If it's a crossover, I can imagine Miles being reminded of Peter B. once he meets Tony.

BONUS: Miles and Morgan! Not sure why I love imagining these two interacting, but if there are any stories with them, please send them to me!!

The Guardians of the Galaxy! After reading a comic where Tony joins them, I love seeing them being friends in the MCU. The guardians are my favorite hero team, tbh.

Nebula! I'm sad that her friendship with Tony wasn't given more screentime, they had such a sweet bond. And I would've loved to see her and Peter being friends. Maybe they could bond over wanting to protect Tony from Thanos, something like that.

Asexual Peter. I've always loved this headcanon! Bonus if Tony is also queer (I personally see him as bisexual, which is canon in some of the comics, I believe).

Trans Peter. I'm not trans myself (I'm non-binary though), but I like this headcanon too! My most self-indulgent need is seeing characters getting help for their menstrual cramps (because I sure know how painful they can be). But it doesn't have to be just that, anything with Trans Peter is great!

Post-Homecoming fics that mention Liz. There are a lot of fics where Tony finds out about the warehouse, but very few of them touch on Liz or the fact Toomes is her dad. It kinda sucks that Liz was basically forgotten after Homecoming. I would like to see more of her, even if it's just through mentions.

Touch-starved Peter. Because I am touch-starved. That's it. Give that boy some hugs and cuddles.

Just domestic fluff in general, can include other characters like Pepper, Morgan, Aunt May, Happy, Rhodey, Vision...

Post-NWH but Tony is alive. Ironic considering I never saw No Way Home and I will keep it like that LMAO, but fics where Tony somehow comes back or has been alive all this time... then he has to find Peter to understand what's happening... or maybe he also forgot Peter but he has these sparks in his memories... I even wrote two fics with nearly the same premise, so you can see how much I like this concept, lmao.

Peter giving Tony forehead kisses! That is so rare to find, I don't remember reading this before.

Presumed dead. Mostly Peter being supposedly dead. I'm a sucker for this trope.

Chapter 3

The days slowly drifted by, as the first week normally does. It also doesn't help that everyone is looking forward to the "welcome back" party being held in the Gryffindor common room tonight. The winner of the quidditch cup tends to host the next year's introduction celebration. A small tradition I'm getting to experience for the second time. I need to see what Paige has to wear because I definitely don't have anything.

Soon enough Friday's classes come to a close and I meet Paige back at our dorm. I walk in to find her scrambling through my closet. I cross my arms and laugh at her attempt to find something.

"Best of luck to you, I already knew I wouldn't have anything to wear. Quick trip to Hogsmeade?" I grab my wand and my wallet, not even waiting on her response and rip her out of our room.

We didn't find much of anything at the first store.

Everything was way too expensive and all of the fabrics were slightly itchy. At the second store, Paige found this beautiful floor-length lilac slip dress which was practically a second skin. It complimented her so well, yet I was simultaneously losing hope because the party was in three hours.

We walk up to the third store and it was like a light beamed down on this tiny gorgeous black whimsical halter dress. I yanked it straight off the rack and bolted to a dressing room. To my complete surprise it fit me perfectly. I showed Paige and we both jumped around, thrilled that we found dresses at the last minute. I paid for the dress and we made it back to the dorm with an hour to get ready.

Paige got ready in the bathroom while I sat on the floor in front of our tall mirror. We both did a grand reveal once every last hair was in place. She decided on an elegant fishtail braid off to the side with tiny strands framing her face and some lavender eyeshadow. She accompanied the dress with a pair of strappy silver heels that showed off her white pedicure as well as a silver clutch and my god she was an angel.

I, on the other hand, straightened my hair and put it in a slicked-back ponytail, my bangs bouncy as ever. I decided on a pair of black stilettos and a small black wristlet. We fed each other a slew of compliments, fixed our lipstick and with that, we were off.

We arrive in front of the painting of the large woman and see that Neville is manning the door.

"Well hello ladies, welcome back to Hogwarts, you two look rather lovely this evening." He stated with a bow.

"Well thank you very much, Neville, you're lookin' pretty dapper yourself." I curtsey back at him and flash him a smile. He smiles back and opens the door to our night of debauchery and chaos.

We dance our way over to the refreshment table as Dirty Laundry by Don Henley rattles our bones. I mix myself a fire whiskey and coke, down a few swigs and turn to face the party, unaware of mister Oliver Wood standing directly behind me. His eyes raked my body and a beautiful smirk appeared on his face.

"Well you sure clean up nicely, Scamanders. Honestly, wow." He glanced between Paige and I, then grabbed my hand, kissing my knuckles while maintaining eye contact. I look over his shoulder to see Fred and George in the middle of a conversation, when Oliver brings my attention back to him.

"Wanna dance?" he raises his eyebrows awaiting my answer. Feeling the few sips of my drink, I give him a nod and a small smile as we make our way to the open area that was deemed the dance floor. We start bouncing and swaying about, really enjoying ourselves. Every once in a while he'd bust out some ridiculous dance move which didn't fail to make me laugh.

After the song ended, I stepped off to the side to take a few more sips of my drink when I glance up to find George's eyes dead on me. Just as I was about to wave, I feel a hand snake around my waist.

"Please don't do that again." I hear a rasp that made my cheeks heat.

"Frederick I'm not clear as to what you're referring to." I try to spin and face him, but his arm grips me tighter.

"You don't recall? Let me refresh your memory." He whispers in my ear and guides me to the dance floor, my back pressed to his abdomen. His hands are glued to my hips as he starts grinding mine against his. I soon realize what game he's playing and now I am determined to make him regret it. I started grinding into him harder and felt his grip tighten. I swayed to the beat of the music and threw my arm back around his neck which gained me a low moan in my right ear.

"You're too hot for your own good, Lady Bird. You've got no clue what you do to me." He ran his hands up and down my sides, making me gasp. He grabs my hand and spins me around to face him, then placed one leg between mine, fitting us together like puzzle pieces while we danced. He looks down into my eyes and something in me told me he was going to kiss me, but to my dismay the song ended. For a minute there I forgot we weren't alone in this room.

"My turn! My turn!" Angelina Johnson then runs over as Fred rolls his eyes."I want a piece of whatever you've got on that dance floor." She then proceeds to ogle Fred and boost his ego further.

"Have fun, Weasley. I'm going to top off my drink anyways." I leave him to deal with the crazy and meander over to the refreshments table once again.

"I've been looking everywhere for you! Where have you been? And what in the hell was that with Wood? No fraternizing with the enemy!" Paige grabs my arms and shakes me on that last note.

"Okay no more drinks for you. Wood asked me to dance so I said sure and it was fun. As for where i've been, someone got jealous and spent the last song dancing with me." I turn towards my new drink and take a sip.

"Oh which one was it this time?" She raises her eyebrows at me, practically making me choke on my drink.

"Oi, Lady Bird, thanks for leaving me with no defenses." Fred comes jogging over to us.

"Settle down, Frederick. You're a big boy." I say while pinching his cheek. Paige looks at me as her jaw drops once she connects the dots. I smile and nod at her while Fred rambles a bunch of nonsense about finding his brothers. He departs while Paige grabs my arm.

"And he's just going to act like nothing happened?" She looks after him rather puzzled.

"I guess so but honestly this is only the beginning of the party and I'm here to stop thinking, not to overthink." I send a cheers her way and down half of my drink when I see George beelining my way with a mildly annoyed look on his face. He clutches my bicep and pulls me over to the dance floor, despite my minor protests. He grabs my hand in his and places his other arm around my waist like we're about to slow dance. I hear a deep sigh escape his lips.

"Now, I've had a couple drinks but I just want you aware that you really ticked me and Fred off, yeah?" I furrow my eyebrows at his statement, a bit confused.

"You made Fred angry by being friendly with mister Wood. You pissed me off by showing off with my brother instead of me." He states matter-of-factly and then pushes me away for a spin.

"Lady bird, you're asking for trouble if you keep it up." He firmly says in my ear as I'm stunned by the feelings of desire and lust rushing through me. He spins me one last time and bows as if thanking me for the dance, then pivots on his heel and walks away.

I find Paige's eyes in the crowd, ensuring she saw everything. She stared at me with wide eyes and then I see Ron's red mop arrive next to her. She broke our eye contact and gave him all of her attention. It was in this moment that I decided to observe them. I was hoping he was going to ask her to dance but it seems like he just said a few words to her and then disappeared. She looked back at me with pink cheeks.
