when you first met him when he was visiting his hometown, chelmsford, for a few days. you were attending school for the school year as a foreign exchange student starting your junior year in london. you heard him laughing first then heard the accent. the following day, you walked around a retail market with him during the afternoon and by the night you’re in a pub with a few of his old friends.

you speak about him constantly which makes you come off as a bore to your friends now. coming back with many stories since you travel with him around to races. you used to find it difficult to sleep even in your bed, but with him, you’re comfortable enough to fall asleep easily even in a hotel bed with four unfamiliar walls around you. you know you’re gonna marry him one day.

Good afternoon everyone and Happy Wednesday! Its that time of day again for our 100 Days of Music - Music Challenge. We're on Day 52 already. Can you believe it? I can't. Time flies when you're having fun with music especially.

As has been the case on numerous occasions throughout this music challenge, our theme today is inspired by a song that came on while I was driving home from work.

I finally met the great love of my life, the most accomplished, the most complete, the quintessence of all my amorous wanderings. It’s thanks to Tina Aumont, the daughter of illustrious Maria Montez. I was back in France after living in Miami for about seven years. My wife, Nicole, had arranged a home for me with her mother, Jeanne. It was temporary, at least for me. I was in a bad state. I had just narrowly saved my left leg and the treatment had taken over my savings. I had no idea what I was going to do or even what I wanted to do. The only positive point of my forced return to France was to be at home, in my country, in my hometown.

The only one who was delighted to welcome me was Tina who lived in social housing near Belleville. It was an indescribable mess, clothes everywhere, magazines, the sink always full of dirty dishes from several days and the bathroom difficult to use. I was supposed to clean at Grandma Jeanne's house, but ultimately it was at Tina's house. I went to see her every other day and sometimes I even slept on the sofa, after cleaning up. She was delighted, we shared our memories, I sang to her Bob Dylan which she loved and despite her emphysema, she seemed happy.

Tina has experienced all kinds of tragedy in her life, ups and downs like all of us but hers were very intense. The premature death of her illustrious mother when she was only five years old left her alone in the world. Her father Jean-Pierre was far too busy with his life, his career and later, his new love affair with Marisa Pavan who hated Tina and did everything to keep her away from her father. Then at just senventeen years old she married the worst man, Christian Marquant! It was he who plunged her into the world of drugs. This narcissistic man destroyed all chances for Tina to have a normal life. She became trapped, for lack of love and also to escape her family who had neglected her and left her floating in the wind. This emotional lack certainly favored the excesses to which she indulged throughout her life. Claude Olievenstein who founded the Marmottant hospital wrote in his book that he only knew one person with whom he could do nothing to get her out of the hell of addiction, Tina Aumont! I have seen her transform over the years in a dramatic way.

We were nine years apart and for me she was like a big sister. She came to see us and often spent the night with us, my mother and my two brothers. It was always a great joy for me, she always had a little something to give me, you know how children are, they love being given gifts. My mother loved her very much and did everything to make her life easier. And then, Tina always had stories to tell, her last shoot or the one that was to come. Tina was a tornado in our life, we didn't see each other much because she was always on the move but each visit left me exhilarated.

We lost touch, she was living in London with her horrible husband and her acting career was really starting to take off. We met again when she started her life with Frédéric Pardo, I was twelve years old. I remember coming to their apartment and singing Bob Dylan on Frédéric's guitar. I liked him, firstly because Tina liked him and then his sensitivity touched me. Then they left for Italy and I never saw Frédéric again.

So I found Tina when I returned from the United States. After all her glory days, her incredible trips, her excessive parties, and all that drugs. She had finally calmed down, she still smoked despite her emphysema and lived almost in poverty. The city had allocated her social housing and a pension, just enough to live on! Fortunately, we were able to offer her a few moments of joy, for example the New Year's Eve dinner in 2002. Blaise, Tina's last companion, brought her to the workshop where I lived with Nathalie. It was an excellent evening with all our friends, we sang, we danced and I think that for one evening she was happy.

Have you seen Oppenheimer??

OMG YES i literally forgot to talk about it but i saw barbie and oppenheimer back to back HAHAH! I also had my first ever imax experience with oppenheimer, living in london now in a place that imax exists! (my aussie hometown didn’t have any imax cinemas, so still haven’t seen dunkirk in all it’s glory, but I digress).

so i actually didn’t really know about the actual history of oppenheimer, and my partner encouraged me not to research it until after i saw the film so i could go in like those in history did, without knowing the end result (obvs i knew the end result but you know what i mean). if you ever get the chance to watch a historical you don’t know much about, i recommend doing what i did- it made things more surprising and suspenseful not to know the details that history would have taught me!

thoughts on oppenheimer under the cut:

masterpiece. nolan delivered again, obviously.

the opening scene with the quote and the explosion behind it gave me the most goosebumps/chills I have EVER experienced consuming media.

I loved the suspense that built up over time, I loved that it ebbed and flowed, unlike Dunkirk which only built. Uncharacteristically of me, I didn’t even really research the cast, so when it literally had half of hollywood in it, I kept thinking ‘oh there’s them!’ which made me happy lol.

Also my faceclaim for Peter’s brother played Heisenberg, which I didn’t know would happen, so that was a really nice surprise. (younger pics of him are the inspo I use for faceclaims of the older Dawson brother if you ever want to google Matthias!)

I thought the way they built the group of people around Oppenheimer was brilliant and that the film took the time to make us understand them all as their own people with their own lives was good, especially those who disagreed with Oppenheimer made it interesting.

When they detonated the test it was such a tense moment, and I was so glad to have a good cinema audience that was silent. I kinda forgot that they wouldn’t hear the blast immediately so when there was the audio delay I got chills. I loved that they waited almost enough time to make you think that maybe they just won’t include the audio at all, but then it hits you. hard.

The drawn out ‘not a court’ that Oppenheimer was put through I think really was a testament to all the actors’ skills, and did history justice in showing us a glimpse into how unfairly he was treated by the system.

I especially liked the little details in scenes at the start, like when Oppenheimer watched the raindrops and was thinking of atoms, and those litte details of his visions of science. Found those fascinating and actually really related to how he saw and processed things that way.

I also found the way they found out they had been dropped on japan to be shown very well. i didn’t know how they found out, as i said i went in pretty blind, so it was quite jarring to see that they found out the bombs were dropped from the news.

I feel like all my film reviews are sprawling and have no real structure, but those are the main points that come to my mind about just a few reasons I loved the film!! I think the mark of a good film is that if it’s a 3 hour one, it doesn’t feel that long- and Oppenheimer was just like that. It was gripping until the end and there was so much of its rich plot that it was not dull at all.

so yeah, did see oppenheimer, loved it, i give it 8.5/10 (dunkirk is a 9.5 in my books ((because i wish it was a bit longer)) i found oppenheimer maybe a teeeeny bit slow/laborious in some scenes).

Where did you get your beautiful shoes? 😍

It's actually a nice story! While I was looking at historical fashion plates to get some inspiration for another thing, I could see many of the models used this kind of shoe with square toe and ribbons as laces. I knew I saw them before somewhere, and then I got what I call a "Ratatouille" 🤣 I got a childhood memory of my mother talking to me about these shoes she bought in her hometown in the 80s, and that she would never throw them away because those were designer shoes from London.

The following day I called my mother and I asked her if she had the shoes. She said yes, she told me she would have those shoes forever because they are too pretty and unique. They've been 30 years inside her wardrobe! I got them and they are just PERFECT. The original laces were black but I changed them to red ones -I will put the originals again later.

Also, these are proof how things were made before: the shoes are so so comfy and in a perfect condition after 30 years. Things were made to last before... And I'm so glad these did! I knew someday these would have their moment for glory! 😛

Everything else is secondary. How did you learn to sing/write/to play? Andy: I started

playing at the age of 12 , I initially took some lessons from a private teacher, and played in different cover bands back in Italy. Then in 2009 I moved to London, after winning a scholarship to study guitar in music college, and that's where my adventure in UK started Gadd (aka Jed Kid): I taught myself how to play guitar and sing for a good few years before I took any lessons. It was only in my early 20’s, when things got more serious and my interests more challenging, that I started with classical singing lessons. I was then accepted into a music college as a songwriting and production major. At the same time I studied modern singing techniques to keep up with my ambitions. What was the first concert that you ever went to and who did you see perform? Gadd (aka Jed Kid): Michael Jackson, the Dangerous Tour. I was 7 and it was F*** epic! Andy: Iron Maiden in 2007. I was in the 2nd row, really close to the stage. I remember that at about the 3rd song in a crazy mosh pit started and I was thrown on the back within seconds. Still a great show! How could you describe your music? We couldn’t haha :) Our music is a combination of all the different things that we like - a strong groove, power vocals, intelligent songwriting and creative guitar licks. We call it “Southern Hard Rock” but we borrow and meld different elements from less expected genres like country, synthwave, punk, drum & bass, blues, jazz and whatever comes to mind really. Every song is different really but they all have two equally important components - Music and Lyrics. Musically speaking, sometimes Gadd would bring a fully formed song to the table (- like The Secret and Justice) and we’d jam as a band. New ideas will come up as we do and play with the arrangement. It'll take shape surprisingly quickly though. Other times it’s more of a collaboration (- like Don’t Follow or Lord All Mighty) where Andy comes up with a tasty riff that becomes the focal point of a new song. As for the lyrics, they come from Gadd’s dusty old notebooks and broken mind. Gadd (aka Jed Kid): I like to write a good story and sometimes share my personal experiences. I take it quite seriously though. Maybe too seriously even. There are so many songs that are shelved just because the lyrics are not ready yet. You can see a glimpse of our process in our KTK studio sessions videos on youtube. What is your main inspiration? Gadd (aka Jed Kid): Life. Life is very dramatic and stirs up a lot of emotions. I tend to tap more into anger and pain when I write. I find music a better outlet for my frustration than punching a wall. Which I also do, but in moderation of course haha 😂 Andy: I usually mess around with riffs and ideas until I find something that I like. This can lead to something or sometimes it doesn't. With guitar solos I always listen to where the melody takes me. What musician do you admire most and why? Nah that’s an impossible question ! Gadd (aka Jed Kid): I admire those who manage to keep doing music and evolve artistically without compromising their sense of identity. David Bowie and Prince are definitely on that list for me. Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career? Yes, for sure. If you don’t grow you die. Who do you see as your main competitor? Are we in a competition? What are your interests outside of music? Gadd (aka Jed Kid): Yoga, bitch Andy: I love traveling and seeing new places. I also recently got into running and ran my first half marathon back in April, it was a great feeling If it wasn't a music career, what would you be doing? Gadd (aka Jed Kid): Probably fail as an actor 🙂 Andy: I honestly don't know, I don't think I'm really good at anything else.

Music has always been part of my life. My main job during the week is guitar teaching, and still it's music related. What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music? Figuring out and keeping up with the ever changing music industry. Jacked up ticket prices and shady promoters that monopolize venues and exploit artists and fans. Thankfully there are new initiatives popping up exactly because of this problem and they are doing good work. Why did you choose this as the title of this project? We named the EP after the title track - The Secret. As in - a “bad” thing you love doing that you won’t tell anyone about. Gadd (aka Jed Kid): It’s one of my favorite songs ! I personally am really proud of it. Later in the EP though we explore the consequences that follow. What are your plans for the coming months? We keep working on new songs and new videos for now. Just the name conjures images of soul-stirring vocals, chart-topping hits, and awards galore. But who is the woman behind the voice? This article isn't just about the powerhouse singer; it's an exploration of the private life of Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, her childhood, career, MBE,  personal growth, philanthropy and success.

She was raised by her mother who encouraged Adele's love of music encouraging her to sing from the tender age of four. Fast forward to her teens, she developed an impressive vocal range spanning across 3 octaves,  she attended the BRIT School for Performing Arts from 14 to 19 in Croydon, South London where she wrote her first song 'Hometown Glory' at 16,.  This school became her launchpad, nurturing her talent and paving the way for her meteoric rise.   From Unknown Talent to Grammy Darling Remember 2008? That's when the world was hit by the emotional whirlwind of "19," Adele's debut album. Hits like "Chasing Pavements" and "Hometown Glory" resonated with listeners worldwide, showcasing her raw, vocal talent and unfiltered songwriting. Awards started pouring in, including a prestigious Grammy for Best New Artist. Suddenly, Adele wasn't just a name; she was a phenomenon.

21: Heartbreak, Honesty, and Global Domination

But it was "21," released in 2011, which truly catapulted Adele to superstardom. This raw, heartbreak-infused album resonated with millions, becoming one of the best-selling albums of all time. "Rolling in the Deep," "Someone Like You," and "Set Fire to the Rain" became anthems for the heartbroken and hopeful, solidifying Adele's place as the queen of soulful ballads.   She Writes Many of Her Own Songs Unlike many pop stars who have a huge team of songwriters who write their material for them, Adele actually writes most of her songs herself! Yes, she composes/collaborates, and performs all her own stuff! This has to be one of the reasons why her songs are so emotional - because they mostly come from her experiences.  In 2013, Adele was awarded an MBE by the Prince of Wales at Buckingham Palace for her services to the music industry.

She's won loads of Grammys!

Adele has won a total of 15 Grammy Awards throughout her career. Each Grammy weighs about 2.3kg, so all 15 weigh a total of 34.5 kg! That's a lot of gold! It's a good thing she's not a total show-off because carting all those around with you would be exhausting!   Like her voice, her heart is equally enormous Adele has used her fame for good! She has worked with all kinds of charities over her career and has donated money and done promotional work for charities that help people with HIV/Aids, LGBT people, people with disabilities, and human rights. A lot of her work has helped disadvantaged kids in London because that's where she came from.   She's had lots of fan mail Like any famous person, Adele gets a lot of fan mail! Some of it is very sweet, and others less so much. Her fans come in all shapes, sizes, and occupations – she even received fan mail from former Prime Minister of the UK, Gordon Brown. He wrote to her during Britain’s economic recession to praise her for keeping people’s spirits up.   Beyond the Spotlight: Motherhood and Personal Growth Despite her immense success, Adele prioritized her personal life. Taking a hiatus after her album "21," she embraced motherhood and for 3 years focused on her son and herself. This self-reflection is evident in her comeback album, "25," released in 2015. With hits like "Hello" and "When We Were Young," the album explored themes of maturity, love, and loss, showcasing her artistic evolution.
