The original Homestuck microplushies were made by Patricio Oliver. A poll was held by ForFansByFans and Nepeta (then Terezi) would be the first to release. Sadly, FFBF was closed.
According to James Roach on Bluesky, the original Karkat plush was supposed to be microsized as well, but Makeship shot down the idea. Makes me wonder then why didn't James Roach contacted the original designer either on Twitter or Bluesky. If they were still around, he didn't have to go the extra mile to draw his own. Copyright? Who knows.
