God, I'm utterly astonished about the story between Clark Gable, Loretta Young and the daughter Judy. I didn't know much about Gable other than his role in Gone with the Wind, so I didn't expect to find this.

So, it you are taking inspiration from that story, and MC is technically "legitimate"... I hope I'm not getting this wrong, but does this mean that MC would be adopted by their (white) biological parent? Or do you have something else in mind?

I almost regret asking the other ask, because now I need answers and to think about this, and have nothing to grasp on. Just speculation. And if there is something that is true, is that speculating about something you are excited about can be detrimental to your enjoyment of said thing. So I also have to measure myself when it comes to this.

Also, following from the story of Judy Lewis... Will our MC be subjected to surgery to change one very identifiable feature? After all, Judy got her ears pinned back so her resemblance to Gable wasn't so obvious. So it would stand to reason to suspect something similar could be done to our MC. Even more so, as you mentioned, if MC has certain unmistakable POC features they and their employers would want to disguise or get rid of altogether.

This also makes me wonder about our MC's name. I always assumed MC could have an original name and a stage name (like Marilyn Monroe, for example). But given the story you took inspiration from... It would make sense for MC maybe been given a name that would make sense from their POC origin from the parent who isn't white (so, for example, a Latina mother calling her child María or Arturo, to just choose any name), and then is adopted by the white parent and given a "white" name that gets used in their Hollywood career (maybe a transformation of the original POC name, if applicable, so in my example María would turn to Mary and Arturo to Arthur).

Of course that's assuming the white parent adopted MC.

I cannot wait for more information in this IF. Any new thing I learn the MC I had in my head changes ever so slightly. And I'm sure once you release the first demo, I will end up making a completely different MC to what currently I'm conceiving in my mind. After all, it's a rather common experience for me that the MC I had originally in mind before trying an IF changes once I play, as actually experiencing the IF begets a completely different character.

MC name? That’s assuming that the other parent that’s not white — or in case of a white mc — just the other parent, is as involved in their life as the primary parent. But also who’s the primary parent? 👀👀👀

Look all I'm saying is that if I were going to make a minecraft movie.

Well, first off I'd put down the first person to even reccomend we do it in cgi. Not just because it looks objectively terrible and half of the magic and nostalgia factor of minecraft is in its texture but holy shit budget much??? You are literally looking at a situation where the cheaper option is also objectively the better option. What the fuck are you doing

But I mean, after that.

Second off, all my writers must watch popular smps and minecraft roleplays/let's plays to understand the "magic" of the game. That's how we're studying for this, not the game books or whatever. Those guys are clearly doing smthn right, and as the executive/writer who knows very little about mineraft that I am in this hypothetical scenario, I need to do my best to make money. And that means learning what people like about the game and community.

Maybe even bring on some popular (non controversial please god) smp writers for consulting. They literally make minecraft movies as their fucking job, they are the expert u need to consult

Story wise, you NEED to choose if you wanna play this straight or silly. I'm so sick of movies trying to be all emotional and "ohh this world is so beautiful,, if u could only understand,, woaa" with their epic sound track and dramatic lighting, but then the dialogue being ripped out of a stupid marvel knockoff trying too hard to be witty

Anyways. Give me a generic "kid has a hard life and uses [thing] to escape it but then their parent trashes [thing] to teach them a "lesson"" movie.

The thing is minecraft and this kid is totally in love with letsplays and smps and has a server with their online friends (get a sponsorship from discord for that good good film sponsorship money, have them play while in call)

The mom or dad or maybe both trash the kids computer for some reason (bad grades maybe or one of those shitty "you need to talk to us more!!! That computer is killing ur brain!!! You don't love us as much as you should and it's that damn games fault!!!" But like it's actually just a kid being a normal fucking kid and having normal fucking kid hobbies things and the parents are dicks)

They delete the minecraft world rip

Them boom, kid somehow gets stuck in the game

Switch to NON CGI FILMING IN MINECRAFT. If you really need to add your stupid shitty fucking cgi then at least make it look like an ACTUAL MINECRAFT ANIMATION holy shit

It'll save us so much money too

So main plot is this kid, being trapped in minecraft, actually falling through different minecraft servers.

We can have different cameos from popular smps and youtubers, get some old youtubers and gameplay in here too. Get fucking dantdm and the diamond minecarts og series with the lab thing, it'll make the old fans lose their fucking MINDS.

The youtubers themselves don't even have to show up, just shove the kid into settings that are clear references to smps and letsplays. Have them wander through Aphmau's OG minecraft diaries sets or Sundee's lucky block series

The best part is that as backdrops, you don't even have to fully commit to "you'll only get this/find this interesting if you know these guys" bc if your writing is good enough you can still make people care by just. Introducing it correctly. Don't present it as "Aphmau's old minecraft diaries series world" go "oh wow look st this cool village,, woah I wonder who built this ,," And have them interact with NPCs organically

Meanwhile the parents go into the game after the kid to bring them back and we do this whole world hopping adventure where the parents learn that,, minecraft can be fun? Actually?

They find the kid and the kid is like "nooo I'm having too much fun the real world SUCKS!!!" but then we do that "it's cool to have fun and indulge but you still need to be present in the real world and do real people things too in order to have that fun responsibly" where somehow the kid realizes that moderation is good for u.

Maybe they almost die in game fr fr? Every world they enter has its difficulty upped a little bit till they enter *gasp* a hardcore world (oh no)

So like the kid learns that you can't just lock yourself in the room and wish the world goes away while you play minecraft for 12 hours straight, and the parents learn that minecraft is cool and fun and can be a good outlet and outlets are important for adults and children alike. And also that they totally pulled a dick move and they need to try to understand their kid instead of just demanding the kid understands them

Somewhere along the way, the kid ends up in their friends server and the friends help to pull them out of the game w the parents

We end the movie with the kid making an effort to be more present with the parents, and the parents also making an effort to interact with the kid in ways that they know the kid will enjoy and respond well to— shown a family dinner scene where the kid very eagerly eats their food while talking about school, then they all go to play minecraft together

Oh right and if you seriously want Jack Black there so fucking bad then make him either the dad or like. School computer teacher who helps the kid use Minecraft EU to learn science (shows off that some schools use minecraft for education purposes) who also helps the kids friends pull them and the parents out of the game

Overall, lots of themes not just about how the game is cool and can let you do cool shit, but also about how the community is cool, and how it's provided so many kids and adults outlets to express themselves and have fun together

That's how you do a game movie

Anyways yeah, minecraft movie looks shit. Hire me instead next time

💖I Dream of [Thomas &] Alex 💖

I am BEYOND blown away by this stunning art of my forever OTP Thomas and Alex as Jeannie and Major Nelson from I Dream of Jeannie by the always amazing @callmebeem. I've honestly been squealing and giggling like an idiot since I saw it!

I Dream of Jeannie was my first favorite tv show. Jeannie and Tony were my first OTP (I didn't even know what an OTP was at the time, but I loved them with my entire being). I vividly remember watching the show in Kindergarten and First Grade (on Nick at Night and TVland hehe). I was glued to the tv in complete awe of the magic and wonder and possibility that Jeannie brought. Her joy was absolutely infectious. And with all sitcoms, no matter how bad things were in the episode, things always worked out in the end.

When I was in first grade, I experienced my first trauma. And as a result, I suffered my first bout of depression following that. Jeannie was the only thing that could even make me hint at a smile for a long time. I know that looking back at the show, it has a lot of flaws and is not something that could ever air today, but I didn't see any of that. I saw hope and I saw joy and that is what I needed.

I've carried them with me my whole life. I binged the series again over the summer so it felt like the perfect time to commission this art for Thomas and Alex at Halloween.

While I know they have a lot of differences, I love that Thomas and Alex have a little bit of Tony and Jeannie in them. Thomas and Tony both put their career first. It was all that really mattered to them. Until one day, fate brought a little ray of sunshine with just a touch of mischief into their lives to turn everything upside down. And only when they risk losing their ladies do they realize how much more they matter than their career.

Jeannie and Tony saved me when I was younger. Alex and Thomas saved me several years ago, when I didn't think I could go on another day. I found them, and they gave me hope. I can't promise I would be here if it weren't for them, so I am so eternally grateful for finding them and later this fandom.

Just a note about the art/Alex's Hair

I know Jeannie has blonde hair (and her "evil" sister has brown). I had considered Alex wearing a wig, but, before Barbra Eden was cast as Jeannie, the studio wanted Jeannie to be a brunette to stand out from Samantha (Bewitched), so I felt it was okay for Alex to keep her hair.

I've gone back into an huge high school story hyperfix for No apparent reason for this past month and half so i decide to make a new tumblr! it's been a while since i've been in an fandom space so i decide to stick to an more niche(? i guess) fandom with not so many people still here as it's not as overwhelming for me.

these girls have been with me since 2013 and 2014 respectively with many many different changes! however their core characteristics have stayed the same.

i was planning on drawing them about a week ago buuut my drawing tablet has decided to die on me and my only drawings of them are from <2022. which isn't ideal. then i remembered a few days ago i can just create them on sims, so for the time being i'll use ts4 as a way to visualize them until i get a new tablet!

a little brief introduction to them -

vivienne is my high school story prime mc and she transfers over to berry high in her sophomore year. bc of this the timeline is a bit different to the canon one (especially since the choices games are canon to the original timeline) as in my tl hss prime takes course from her sophomore to senior year (there's NO way all the stuff that happens in hssp happens in one year!!! pixelberry u can not convince me otherwises!!!). side confession but despite hss/hwu being an defining part of me i've never touched choices... which means i've just never considered were those games would fit into my timeline. so i guess i'd consider my tl an au.

agnieszka or angel is my hollywood u mc who i miss dearly and i'll forever be torn up by the fact that hwu is unplayable now. she's vivienne half sister (vivi is a product of affair. there's A LOT of lore that i'll hopefully go into in later posts) and the two aren't aware of eachothers existence until around 2010. despite this angel loves the fact she has an younger sister, even in unconventional circumstances, and wishes to grow closer to her. vivienne is hesitant at first but by 2018ish they have a very good relationship!! sure it takes a while but the two had to overcome a lot when it comes to their family.

for the years vivienne starts berry high in 2013 and agnieszka starts hwu in 2014 (basically when the games came out). they don't start having an consistent relationship until about mid-to-late 2015.

also this is my first time doing character sheets that aren't heavily drawn so hopefully they aren't too hard to read/understand. this is all i'll say for now as i don't want this post to get too long! i'll drop more info abt them as this month goes by.

Well, then I'll ask questions about the Hollywood IF.

You've said two things:

1) The MC is a nepo baby.

2) The MC can be POC, but always will be white passing (understandable, given the setting, and I'm very excited to see how you'll write it).

It makes me wonder how are you going to handle these two things. If MC is a nepo baby, I would assume one of their parents would be in the entertainment industry of the time. Being that the case, it would only make sense that specific parent is white. The issue comes, and it may be due to my ignorance on the subject, I was under the impression that during that time in the US different race couples couldn't marry. Now, this may be a different case based on which state we are talking about (maybe California was more lax on this than, for example, Texas or Georgia). In fact, I went to google this while I was writing this ask, and discovered California only removed the restriction in 1948 (as most US states began to do so after WW2). All of this to say, I wonder if you thought about MC being an illegitimate mixed child (for the people who want to play as a white passing POC MC), or would you make both parents be the same ethnicity no matter what?

After all, something so central to character writing demands to be thought about a lot. Having such different upbringings (between a legitimate child and an illegitimate one) would demand different ways to approach the relationship between MC and their parents in a very dramatic fashion. Enough so that many scenes wouldn't be compatible between two MC's with a different origin.

On the other hand, an illegitimate MC feels less alike the nepo baby stereotype I think you want to portray. Yet, at the same time, it would serve as further motivation for MC to prove themselves worthy of their opportunity in the industry.

So, what do you have in mind for this topic? As you said, you are free to tell me as much as you'd like, and say what you prefer not to share.

I just thought this could be a rather safe topic, given that so far it does not seem like an IF where MC origin should be guarded as a secret only revealed as the story goes. But you never know, so maybe I'm wrong in this regard.

Yeah so one parent is white. That is unchangeable as it focuses on a theme I want to write. The theme of the privilege of being white and not seeing it and viewing with shame a child who’s colouring or certain features might be too pronounced that certain things would have to be done to cover that up. MC is “technically” legitimate regardless of skin colour the bastard allegations are a theme too it’s just that with a biracial child it will have that added layer of racism in Hollywood and whitewashing.

To give you an idea of what I’m interested in… think of Clark Gable’s daughter with Loretta Young 😉
