Mickey Mouse and Jimmy Durante in Hollywood Party (1934)

Jimmy Durante is jungle star Schnarzan the Conqueror, but the public is tiring of his fake lions. So when Baron Munchausen comes to town with real man-eating lions, Durante throws a big party for him so that he might use the lions in his next movie, but his film rival sneaks into the party to buy the lions before Durante can.

*Older television prints of "Hollywood Party" run 63 minutes, and exclude the appearance by Mickey Mouse, as well as the Disney Technicolor cartoon "Hot Chocolate Soldiers".

My rating: 4/10

I mean, it does pretty much do what it says on the tin, and you can't fault it for that, plus some of the musical bits are pretty good, but Jimmy Durante was a man of powerful, nay overpowering shtick, and since it's the 30s there is many a yike throughout, what with the racism and assorted other bigotries. Surprisingly homoerotic in parts, though.
