✨ Looking for your next cozy Christmas read? ✨ 📖 Boughs of Holly is now live on Wattpad! Chapters 1-7 are posted with more to come!
About the story: Holly Winslow is a brilliant event planner with a knack for making magic happen—just not in her own life. As a plus-size, parentified older sister, she’s spent her life taking care of everyone else, leaving little room for romance or herself. But when a charming (and frustratingly attractive) new vendor, Nick Callahan, enters the picture, her carefully curated world of Christmas galas and twinkling lights begins to shift.
💔 What makes Holly relatable?
She’s a plus-size protagonist in a genre that often forgets that love stories come in all shapes and sizes.
She’s spent years wearing the armor of confidence and perfectionism to navigate a world that too often sees her as less.
As a parentified older sibling, Holly has always been the rock for her family—but who supports her when the cracks start to show?
🌟 Why you’ll love this story:
A small-town setting that’s as festive and charming as a snow globe.
A slow-burn romance with sparks of banter, clashing ideas, and late-night teamwork.
Themes of self-worth, vulnerability, and learning to let others in.
A celebration of the quiet strength it takes to believe you’re enough, even when the world says otherwise.
📌 Perfect for readers who love:
Plus-size representation in romance.
Stories about driven, complex women learning to let their guard down.
The Hallmark-esque charm of small-town Christmas, but with more heart and depth.
Sweet and sassy banter that will make you laugh, swoon, and maybe even cry.
💻 Read it now on Wattpad! 🎁 Bring some joy and romance to your holiday season—Boughs of Holly awaits.

#117 of my 2023 reads and 64/483 of my physical tbr- You’re A Mean One, Matthew Prince by Timothy Janovsky
I think snobby rich people even in books are just not my thing. Okay, Matthew grew on me by chapter twenty-one. If you want a queer book that’s like a Christmas Hallmark movie this fits that bill. The mental health talk was great and you definitely learn why Matthew was the way he was. The fact that he plans events to calm his anxiety is personally so relatable because while I don’t plan events in those times I do design possible future homes, make lists with the items I imagine in them, and make list for almost anything instead. There’s also some good quotes in this.
I wasn’t bothered by this but I know others might be Hector (li) calls Matthew dude so many times so beware of that. I do think this could have been shorter but at the same time it wasn’t like dragging to the point where things absolutely needed to be cut. Also, the parents but specifically the mother in this just no. And lastly I would like to admit that until I got to chapter twenty one I was constantly thinking about DNF’ing this.

Book Review #83 of 2023--
Tumblr media
There’s Something About Merry by Codi Hall. Rating: 3.25 stars.
Read from June 26th to 28th.
I don’t have much time until I need to get out of the door for work so I’ll try to make this review quick. This is the second book in the Mistletoe Romance series which is set on a Christmas tree farm in small-town Idaho. In book number 1, we followed Nick and now we’re following his sister Merry. Merry is looking forward to running the Christmas farm one day when he parents retire, but his dad just took single dad Clark on as foreman and she worries this means they don’t want her to take it over. Thus starts a relationship full of stilted small talk and glares across the farm. But when KnottyGirl25 and Woodsman27 meet on a dating app the door opens to all sorts of possibilities.
This isn’t an enemies to lovers to even a real dislike to lovers. I think Merry just wants to know what Clark becoming the foreman on the farm means for her taking it over one day. And I do want to mention that the online aspect of the story really only lasts for about a third of the novel. But the Mistletoe Romance novels are just good romance. I love the family aspect, the tree farm aspect, the Christmassy nature of the story. It’s all such fun and so quick and easy to read. I did enjoy the first book more than this one for a couple of reasons. The first is the storyline towards the end with the kid’s mother. I think it was an attempt to add in a third act conflict that was unnecessary to the story. Everyone handled it well and nothing big and dramatic came from it which I appreciated. But we had conflict in the first and the second act. So it’s not like we really needed another one. Which leads me to the thing that feels the weirdest to say about a book: it should be shorter. Cut the third act conflict, leave the last chapter exactly as it is, and we have about 25 fewer pages and a story that I feel makes more sense. Will I end up reading book 3 next Christmas in July? Quite possibly. The only reason I don’t say yes for sure is because it looks like it might be audible only. Or Amazon only. I’ll need to look into it.
Overall, I give the book 3.25 stars, the romance 3 stars, and the Christmassy-ness of the book 4 stars.

In The Nightmare Before Kissmas by New York Times bestselling author Sara Raasch, the prince of Christmas is a chaotic bisexual with a big problem: the hot goth guy he drunkenly made out with at a bar is actually the Prince of Halloween—and they’re both supposed to be romantic rivals in a holiday media stunt. The only thing left to do in this steamy rom com full of tricks and treats is to make the yuletide…gay. 🏳️‍🌈
