Palestinian student shot in US state of Vermont discharged from hospital

Twenty-year-old Hisham Awartani, one of three Palestinian students who were shot two weeks ago, is paralysed from the chest down, his parents said. They verified GoFundMe – a crowdfunding platform – set up by his family has raised more than $1m, but experts at the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation told them that the expenses of adaptive care throughout his life will come to at least $2.8m.

If you live in PA, I want to ask you to call your reps and call for a ceasefire. When you do so, mention that one of the Palestinian college students shot in Vermont, Kinnan Abdalhamid, went to Haverford College in Pennsylvania.

Most of our reps have supported the genocide of Palestinians. In doing so, they have helped murder thousands of people. They have also encouraged Islamophobia.

Point out that it has had a direct effect on at least one of the people they vowed to represent. (Yes, I know it has also harmed more, but this is a specific, documented incident we can call out.)

The more people who call them out on this, the more likely they are to make a public statement addressing the attacks.

We need to make them squirm.

It would be good if media outlets and people online stop praising and centering White celebs for doing the bare min of sharing links, supporting ceasefire and criticizing Israel and actually platform the Palestinian grassroots activists like Hisham Arwartani who have received the worst of the backlash for their advocacy and activism 🙄🤷🏻‍♀️
