Hiromi Wajima vs Meletis Kakoubavas - 9/11/2022
K-1 announced their global expansion, calling for other kickboxing organizations to co-promote and plans for events in countries that are not Japan. I wonder if this announcement had anything to do with so much of K-1 World GP 2023 at Ryogoku to be Japanese fighter vs foreigner.
K-1 super welterweight champion Hiromi Wajima will be defending his title against Dutch kickboxer Jordann Pikeur, former KRUSH champion. The two will face off in the main event of K-1's show this Sunday (July 16, in US).

Bantamweight title fight - Toma Kuroda (C) vs Issei Ishii

Just got done watching. Some good fights and good performances. Some stinkers. Some really bad judging.
First off, all three Japanese fighters in the World Max getting finished inside the first round or two was kind of funny. Shouts to Darryl Verdonk for stopping the former K-1 super welterweight champ, Hiromi Wajima, in the 1st. I know he was the Enfusion champ but never actually seen him fight before. No clue who Rei Nakajima is or why they were talking dude up before the tournament, but apparently he's a boxer so him getting spinning back fisted into oblivion by Viktor Akimov is funny as hell and makes sense.
The two title fights were the highlights of the main card. Not great fights but great performances. Liu Ce looked like a killer and knocked down Sina Karimian something like 5x en route to winning the Cruiserweight title. Karimian coming out and demanding drug testing after eating Liu's power was also fantastic stuff. Comedy at it's finest. Saho surprised the hell out of me. Not so much that she won but that she was able to just get in the pocket and hurt Prifti badly. Had her left eye all swollen up from huge shots she was landing on the inside. Fight to make is SAHO vs KANA.
Lots of bad judging tonight. On the main card, I honestly though Thananchai did way more than enough to win in regulation. It was definitely not pretty. He looked uncomfortable in his first ever kickboxing match but considering the guy he was fighting had less than a week's notice, he should have won comfortably. Still thought he won the extra round too. I reblogged earlier with the mention that RISE wasn't doing any more co-promoting with K-1 because of the judging. Hitachi should have got the nod over Egawa in that extra round. Miyazaki should have won the fight outright in regulation (imo). I think I'll have to watch Monguchi-Gunji again cause that one was close.
Sitting down to watch this K-1 card. Snuck some of the prelims at work. Just got to watch thru the K-1 vs RISE fights and then the main card.
