you know, i dont even ship llorumi, im not interested in it, i dont ship it, i don't consume any content of it, i don't even enjoy it personally, i think its kinda silly

but i also think that the argument of "they're siblings!! it's incest!!" is just. like. stupid?

for not a single second of watching ninjago did i believe that harumi wanting to be "adopted" by garmadon was something other than a metaphor. her being adopted was never something that was official, garmadon treated her like garbage, and literally they fought against each other in crystallized. she was controlling garmadon through and through in season 9, and the moment he got out of control even she was having second thoughts.

she wanted to get "adopted" by garmadon so she could have even more over lloyd. it wasnt anything more than that, i dont think the show was trying to communicate that it was more than that.

the show itself was literally hinting at a ship between them, i dont think cartoon network or even the ninjago writers at the time (im talking s8-crytallized) would actively show incestuous and disgusting relationships in that manner to children. lets remind ourselves ninjago *is* a kids show, nobody's gonna think harumi and lloyd are siblings, theyre gonna think theyre like...weird exes . i know it sucks but the way crystallized portrays it, that's what a general audience will understand

llorumi had potential as a ship, but the show and the fandom have lost sight of any sort of nuance that comes with shipping toxic ships. (this goes both ways, by the way, from the people absolutely repulsed by it because for some reason its "incest " to the people romanticizing the fuck out of it)

The following is a fanvertisment and is not connected to the show. ****Yet.*** *Also yes, this is the fourth time I'm posting this because TUMBLR WONT LET ME EDIT SPELLING MISTAKES!

ANYWAY,

Once upon a time, back in 1987, Dire Straits put out this music video for “Money for Nothing”, which, as you know, was a song about wanting my MTV. 

The video was made by two guys (Gavin Blair and Ian Pearson) on a very moody computer. After the video went out, these two guys went to a pub:

Ian: “Hey, we should make a whole show like this!”

Gavin: “Dude, making three minutes almost killed us.”

And so it was decided!🎉

The two guys were joined by two other guys (Phil Mitchell and John Grace) and created the Hub, which then became Mainframe Entertainment. They got even more people, and then they all holed up in this hotel.

They were mad lads with a dream: a whole cgi animated show, and they made it happen a whole year before Toy Story!

Behold! ReBoot!

(Yes that fever dream was real)

Now before I get any of this:

Let me lay this down. If you can’t with the animation of the first season because it was CUTTING EDGE IN 1994, you can close your eyes and listen to it. ReBoot wasn’t just a CGI gimmick. The characters are fully developed, the voice actors are peerless, the plot is sharp, and there’s so many easter eggs that you’ll never find them all.

(And yes the episode "Bad Bob" was the actual catalyst for Fury Road. Look it up)

ReBoot is about what life is like in a computer (in the 90s, because it was the 90s) called Mainframe (because of course it is). People are sprites, the guys that look like 1s and 0s are binomes (which represent 1s and 0s). Bad guys are viruses, and the good guy is a Guardian named Bob, who is a certified cinnamon roll.

In the first season the eps are light and self-contained, mainly because there was constant friction between the Mainframe studios and the Board of Standards and Practices.

They still got away with some pretty dark stuff, like Megabyte (virus) making Enzo (the kid) watch his dog get sliced open (dog got away, obviously) , Dot (sprite) have a hallucinatory breakdown, and the fridge horror of realizing the thousands of worm things (nulls) that plunged off a bridge to their death were actually people.

And Hex's (virus

best girl) scary face single-handedly traumatized an entire generation. 🙂

But busting through a window was a no go, because WhAt If tHe cHiLdReN dID iT tOo?

Anyway, halfway through the second season, ABC cut them loose, so they were like, fuck it, we’re going to start going hard. The story shifted from episodic to arcs and things start to get serious.

Third season the show moved to YTV in Canada, which gave no fucks about shielding the innocent children.

So it got DARK

How dark?

The UK refused to show the entire season, so the audience there had to wait until pirated copies made it across the pond to see how it ended.

Also by 1997, the animation was gorgeous. (Best example of third season animation I could think of that didn't have spoilers)

The show was green-lit for a fourth season on Cartoon Network, but halfway through production Warner Bros took over and the same fucking thing happened.

Because Mainframe was halfway done, they decided not to scrap all of it, but knowing they wouldn't be able to finish it correctly, Mainframe stripped anything that would hint at Season Four's true ending, then left what remained on a cliff-hanger of angst.

FOR 22 YEARS

(It's also why the last four eps of season four seem to make no sense)

And so it was.

Other crap happened, the soul left Mainframe, and its animated corpse spat out “The Guardian Code” in 2018. 

But never say die! The year is (almost) 2024, 30 years later. ReBoot shall rise from the dead, because here come the documentary!!

Pedro Eboli uploaded a new picture showcasing posters of his failed pilots including his Cartoon Network Studios pilot "Best Coast". You can also see a bit from his rejected Disney TVA show right the corner.

Sadly his Disney TVA pilot for a potential Disney Channel series was rejected this year in favor of 4 new NDA animated series (2 for Disney Junior and 2 for Disney Channel).

Another reason that Eboli hinted is that Disney higher ups now want to follow Warner Bros Discovery/Cartoon Network's steps of just wanting reboots/spin-offs of pre-existing Disney Television Animation IPs. ("The Proud Family Louder And Prouder", "Phineas And Ferb", "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse+", "Sofia The First: Royal Magic", "La Familia Avenúñez", "Darkwing Duck", "TaleSpin", "Recess")

My fanmade pitch idea for a Codename kids next door reboot that i call.....

"Kids Next Door: recommissioned"

If Cartoon Network asked me to make a KND reboot, I'd get the OG involved to help with it. I'd make it a separate continuity from the original so it can be seen as its own thing, something for a brand new generation of kids but is also a love letter to the adults that grew up with the old show.

The first season would start off with fun episodic pilots, re-introducing some of the most classic villains like KnightBrace, Mr. Wink and Mr. Fibb, Gramma Stuffum, Toilenator, and of courses The Delightful Children From Down The Lane. As the first season goes on, there would be clever hints that foreshadow Sector Z and Father being Numbuh One's uncle which will build up to an adaption of Operation Z.E.R.O.

We'd also have animated adoptions of some of the stories in the comics, have subtle hints of the Galactic Kids Next Doors existence, and tackle stuff that modern kids gotta put up with while still appealing to general audiences.

Time Squad Character Analysis #1: Buck Tuddrussel

Hi guys ^_^ I've been wanting to do a genuine, in-depth analysis on the TS main trio for a while, based on what we're told / shown canonically or by the writers. And since Tuddrussel is the face of the Time Squad, I felt it was only fitting to start by analyzing him.

Backstory

Although we never get any deep insight into Buck's backstory, the show sprinkled a few hints here and there that allow us to have a pretty darn good idea of what his life was before Otto and the Time Squad.

The first time Buck mentions anything about his past is in Freud, where he goes on a small ramble about his time at "The Academy".

While we don't know what this Academy is exactly, it's safe to assume that it sounds like some sort of school for wannabe Time Squad cops, training them in combat and whatnot. It also seems to feature some sort of mental health faculty / therapy evaluations. These sessions were possibly forced, too, because Buck's not the type to go to therapy on his own will.

The therapy guys absolutely hit the nail on the head, though. Buck has a lot of trouble managing his anger; he has a very short fuse and tends to choose violence as his first option when going on missions, causing more harm than good to everyone involved. Of course, Buck ignores all of this and reduces it to "junk" and "head-shrinkin' mumbo jumbo". Speaking of Freud, I couldn't forget his psychoanalysis at the end of the episode!

Freud describes Buck as having an "overactive superego, which causes [Bucks] to force [his] will on those around [him]". My knowledge on Freudian psychology isn't great, but, I mean, do you really think the writers took their time to properly research it either? Skimming through a few websites (I am NOT studying Freudian psychology for a 2000s Cartoon Network show), the superego is in charge of making us act "civil" based on what our parental figures teach us in early childhood. Therefore, according to the show, to have an overactive superego means to have a strict set of rules and behaviors perceived as "wrong" that the superego wants to achieve, to a point that it expects everyone to follow said rules. Very fitting for a cop! Though the rules he follows aren't the ones society expects.

Buck's time at The Academy is explored further in Out with the In Crowd and Feud for Thought, both episodes telling us one key detail:

Larry's fatphobia aside, we learn that Buck was overweight back then, and even went to fat camp. Feud also tells us he was in chemistry club, meaning Buck isn't all brawn with no brain.

I'm 99% sure the "glandular thing" is just an excuse Buck makes to "explain" why he was fat back in The Academy. We see multiple times in the show that he's obsessed with working out and staying in shape, although his eating habits aren't particularly healthy. This tells me he was probably laughed at for his weight, and quickly began working out to stop the constant bullying. His reactions in both episodes to comments on his weight (embarrassment in In Crowd and straight up cowering in fear in Feud) tell me that, while Buck likes painting himself as a tough guy with no fears, he is horrified of the past and being seen as a wimp.

We get more insight on Buck's past, and specifically his childhood, almost immediately after Freud. One episode later, in Big Al, he reminisces about his life back on Earth:

Tuddrussel is clearly proud of his Texan / Cowboy heritage (something I'm sure Larry is veery fond of... More on that in his analysis) and absolutely adores guns. He was taught how to handle them from a very young age (around 7 or 8) and seems to be continuing a long heritage of policemen.

(Not pictured: Buck's gun magazines in Larry Upgrade, his reaction to Larry doing a "few alterations" to his Demonitor (?) 800... the list goes on)

A bit off the canon record, but co-writer Carlos Ramos once said he imagines Buck's dad to have been a "hard ass".

It's only fitting for his personality, after all. Speaking of fathers...

Tudd as a Father Figure ....of our country(EXTREMELY LOUD WRONG BUZZER)

Buck is damn proud to be what is basically an adoptive dad. In Father Figure, we see him get furious at George "I'm a better father to Otto than you will ever be" Washington, even flaunting his victory when Otto chooses him over the guy.

Tuddrussel's relationship with Otto is weird. He is as much of a parental figure as he is a prankster, an immature sibling. Sometimes he teaches Otto things like riding a bike and fishing (although in non-productive ways... I wonder what that says about his own upbringing?), and other times he's a sore loser at video games and is generally a bad example for a developing kid. In many ways, Otto ends up having to teach him, using flashcards and infodumping history lessons.

There is another analysis that goes more in-depth into this, though, in my opinion, ends up theorizing a lot of things we never see nor are implied, but I recommend you read it here. What it does get absolutely right is that Buck is a deeply complex character, afraid to fully commit to being a parental figure and instead retreating to childish actions. Just like Sheila explains in Ex, "[H]e's a man totally at the mercy of his own fragile male ego, who hasn't progressed emotionally or intellectually since early childhood!"

Buck and Sheila

As we learn in Kubla, Buck and Sheila got a divorce an unknown amount of time ago, and while Sheila holds no resentment, Buck seems bothered by their separation. When Otto tries bringing up the topic at the end of the episode, Buck immediately shuts him down.

Buck gets upset when learning Sheila took back her maiden name, even calling Sheila "hun". It's clear that Tuddrussel is very much hung up on their divorce and somewhat misses Sheila, although he's mortified of the idea of remarrying, as shown in First Flight when Amelia Earhart suggests the idea of wedding him.

A bit later, in Peace Surprise and Ex, Buck and Sheila start getting along more as friends who have fun together, while understanding that they could never work as a couple.

Toxic Masculinity

It's clear that Buck suffers from a lot of toxic masculinity. He refuses to engage with anything mildly feminine (like the pink cake in Poe), he deems himself tough and strong, and no strong man needs therapy. In fact, he doesn't need any help with anything! He's not weak, he can't afford to show weakness, he's a brave man. This sort of thinking is what most likely caused his divorce with Sheila, a topic he doesn't like bringing up at all. What was that thing about repressing old memories?

Although... this shell ends up breaking a little in Hate and Let Hate when he tries out cooking and ends up really enjoying it. And not just any cooking, it's foo-foo cooking. As the show goes on, Buck starts learning that maybe it's okay to like girly stuff... Sometimes. Baby steps.

Buck and Larry

Oh boy. Larry and Buck's relationship is... something for sure.

First off, Buck absolutely despises Larry. He hates how feminine he is, how he's a coward, a wimp, a sissy. He semi-frequently threatens Larry with hurting him one way or another, and insults him like the manchild he is. But you know what other feeling Buck has for him? Fear. Tuddrussel is terrified of Cartoon Network's sassiest (excuse my french) gay-as-fuck robot, and hates him having any kind of power or agency over him. Once again there's already an analysis on this here, so check it out. All in all, Buck's fear translates to anger and violent tendencies.

As per any other kinds of feelings, it's hard to say. Buck sees Larry as a robot who's supposed to follow his orders, him being the officer of the Time Squad unit and all. Comparing his beliefs on robots as servants to Sheila and JT's beliefs of robots as partners, we can assume this sort of thinking is old-fashioned and doesn't really reflect how the futuristic world sees robot society. Buck can't stand Larry acting like a human person with feelings, aspirations and a complex set of emotions.

In some part, he's right to be mad. Larry wasn't programmed in the subject of history and doesn't act the way other robots like XJ5 and Lance do, so he's not a great help when it comes to their job. Tudd at least tries to do his job, while Larry A.K.A. The Robot Able To Look Up Anything, is too stubborn to try.

But, despite everything, Larry is still his partner, his buddy. Buck may not show it too often, but deep down he cares for the guy.

Final Thoughts

Jesus Christ I didn't think I would write this much. And Tuddrussel's not even my favorite character!

I'd say Buck Tuddrussel is the character with the most growth in the entire show, and he really makes an effort towards being a better person. He may not be the brightest and it might take a while for him to learn his mistakes, but his determination to keep moving forward really goes to show how strong he is.

OH GOODNESS I WAS SUPPOSED TO REPLY SOONER BUT I GOT SO BUSY 😭😭😭 between packing and catching my flight at 4am, it was hectic!

This has been sitting in my drafts for so long man fkskaka I am so sorry 😅

But, oh buddy, i don't....I don't know, or, more accurately, probably don't remember XD

I've shipped them for so long, i can't remember when or why I started doing so. But I do have some guesses. And I think the culprit to my obsession would have to be...Sonic Boom!

Growing up, I didn't have a lot of access to Internet stuff aside from YouTube, in my home, the only channel I knew to have access to was Discovery Kids and Gloob. BUT, my grandma did have access to other channels like Disney XD, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network!

Which is where I discovered Sonic Boom 😌 and I'm pretty sure it was where my love for Sonic began. And because that show hammered in Sonamy so much, I guess I just became inclined to like it? I remember an episode talking about fanfiction and I went to look up what "Sonamy" was and stumbled across an artist (who is still active to this day! To my relief) who did a lot of Sonic Boom sonamy and it just became a comfort ship!

No why do I personally ship them is hard to answer. Probably just for comfort? No, no, I think it goes a little deeper than that. One ship from another franchise that I can compare it too is Zelink! (Zelda x Link).

They are the "practically canon straight ship" and sort of the "obvious" pick, which sorts ends up making them the less popular to the fandom? Lol which is also a shame. But there is so much more to them just being the "practically canon straight couple"! There is obviously a lot of thought put into their dynamic and relationship that reflects in the games and other media.

I tend to look at the smaller details and all the hints the creators drops between them!

Which leads to my favourite sonamy moments, which is when Sonic is the one showing the affection, albeit subtle, towards Amy. I don't have one moment, it's all the times he's like that, but one I can pull up right now and the only one I can remember after only 2 hours of sleep is I Prime, when Sonic is describing his friends and when he reaches Amy he just sighs this love strucken sigh and says "Sweet Amy".

Thay practically sent me rolling!

Another one in Prime is when he is talking to the forest guardian Amy I forgot the name, and she asks about his Amy and he describes her and she says "she sounds pretty cool" or something and, again, with that sigh of admiration says "you are" and--

GAH I JUST LOVE THEM TOO MUCH!!!!

I could talk about them all day man, I want to, I want to have more people to talk about them. Even if I'm not well versed in the Sonic franchise just yet, I love them so much I wanna just- talk about them!

For almost a decade, Nick Roy has been scanning North Korea’s tiny internet presence, spotting new websites coming online and providing a glimpse of the Hermit Kingdoms’ digital life. However, at the end of last year, the cybersecurity researcher and DPRK blogger stumbled across something new: signs North Koreans are working on major international TV shows.

In December, Roy discovered a misconfigured cloud server on a North Korean IP address containing thousands of animation files. Included in the cache were animation cells, videos, and notes discussing the work, plus changes that needed to be made to ongoing projects. Some images appeared to be from an Amazon Prime Video superhero show and an upcoming Max (aka HBO Max) children’s anime.

The findings and security lapse—detailed in a report by the Stimson Center think tank's North Korea–focused 38 North Project, which helped analyze the findings along with Google-owned security firm Mandiant—provide a glimpse at how North Korea can use skilled IT and tech workers to raise funds for its heavily sanctioned regime. It also comes as US officials increasingly warn about North Korean IT workers infiltrating companies and their outsourcing.

North Korea’s internet is a small—and fragile—space. The repressive nation only has 1,024 IP addresses and around 30 websites that connect to the global internet. While there is a limited internal intranet, only a few thousand of the country’s 26 million people can get on the internet. When they do, it’s highly controlled: These select few North Koreans can use the internet for an hour at a time and have a person sitting next to them approving their use every five minutes.

When Roy discovered the exposed cloud server, it was being updated on a daily basis. Martyn Williams, a senior fellow on the 38 North Project who helped analyze the contents of the server, says the server likely allowed work to be sent to and from North Korean animators. The server itself is still live, but it mysteriously stopped being used at the end of February. While there is a login page, its contents can be accessed without a username and password. “I found the login page after I found all the exposed files,” Roy says.

Inside, the files contained editing comments and instructions in Chinese which were translated to Korean, the researchers write in their report. “For a lot of the animation files, we would find things like spreadsheets with details of the workflow,” Williams says. A sample of the files shared with WIRED show detailed anime images and video clips, with notes for the authors and date stamps on various files. In one instance, the report says, an animator was “asked to improve the shape of the character’s head.”

Based on the documents and drawings, the researchers were able to identify some of the shows and projects the North Koreans were working on. Some of the projects included work from season 3 of the Amazon show Invincible, which is produced by California-based Skybound Entertainment. There were also documents linked to Max and Cartoon Network show Iyanu: Child of Wonder, produced by YouNeek Studios, as well as files from a Japanese anime series and an animation studio in Japan.

Some file names gave away clues about the series and episode numbers. There were also files and projects the researchers could not identify—including a “bunch of files” with videos of horses and a Russian book on horses, Williams says.

Sanctions placed upon the North Korean regime, for its ongoing human rights abuses and nuclear warfare programs, prohibit US companies from working with DPRK companies or individuals. However, the researchers say it is highly unlikely that any companies involved would have a clue about North Korean animators working on the shows, and there is nothing suggesting the companies violated any sanctions or other laws. “It is likely that the contracting arrangement was several steps downstream from the major producers,” the report says.

Spokespeople for Amazon and Max spokesperson declined to comment for this story. YouNeek Studios did not respond to a request for comment.

“We do not work with North Korean companies, or Chinese companies on Invincible, or any affiliated entities, and have no knowledge of any North Korean or Chinese companies working on Invincible,” a spokesperson for Skybound Entertainment says. “We take any claims very seriously and have commenced an investigation into this.” In a post on X, the company characterized the findings as “unconfirmed” and said it is working with authorities to investigate.

Williams says it is possible that a front company in China is used to help disguise the activity and involvement of North Koreans. The researchers were able to analyze connections to the exposed server and, despite most having their location masked by a VPN, spotted access from Spain and three Chinese cities. “All three cities are known to have many North Korean–operated businesses and are main centers for North Korea’s IT workers who live overseas,” the report says.

While Williams says the researchers did not find any identifiable names of North Korean organizations buried in the files, the country has a well-established animation company called April 26 Animation Studio, which is also known as SEK Studio. Originally set up in the 1950s, the studio has worked on hundreds of international TV shows and movies.

However, in recent years, the US Treasury Department has sanctioned SEK Studios, individuals linked to it, and various “front companies” that it says are used to “work for foreign customers.” Many of these have links to China, according to the sanctions. “SEK Studio has utilized an assortment of front companies to evade sanctions targeting the government of the DPRK and to deceive international financial institutions,” a statement issued as part of the sanctions in 2021 says.

The main aim of these efforts, says Michael Barnhart, a North Korea researcher at Mandiant, is to raise money for the North Korean regime. The country’s hackers and scammers have stolen and extorted billions of dollars to help fund its military ambitions in recent years, including from huge cryptocurrency heists. In early 2022, the FBI issued a 16-page alert warning companies that remote North Korean freelance IT workers were infiltrating businesses to earn money they could funnel back home.

“The volume is much higher than we were expecting,” Barnhart says of North Korea’s IT workers. They are constantly changing their tactics to avoid being caught, he says. “We had one not too long ago, where during the interview, the person’s mouth was just off-frame. You could tell that someone in the background was speaking on their behalf.” Technically, Barnhart says, companies should verify their remote workers’ devices and make sure that there is no remote software connecting to a company laptop or network. Businesses should also put extra efforts at the hiring stage by training HR staff to detect possible IT workers.

However, he says, increasingly there is a greater crossover between North Korean IT workers and individuals who are members of known hacking groups or classified as advanced persistent threats (APTs). “The more we focus on IT workers, the more we’re starting to see APT operators and efforts blending in with those,” he says. “This might be the most quick learning-on-your-feet, nimble nation-state that I've ever seen.”

The women swung between the ropes and dropped to the ground outside the arena almost too smoothly, Caitlyn's eyes transfixed on the fluidity but also the roughness of her movements. She watched as the shorter woman took a large gulp of water, her eyes stuck on her throat as she swallowed before she turned around and finally saw Caitlyn. Staring. She tilted her head to the side ever so slightly and raised an eyebrow, a curious but defensive look on her face.

Someone has probably made this theory before but...

I have a theory that Sarah is a fangirl that has been transferred from the real world into The Amazing World Of Gumball and is trying to be apart of the story instead of a background character.

In S2 Ep36: The Sweaters. Is where we first meet Sarah. And one of the first things she talks about is Gumball and Darwin's 'reputation'. Witch hints about the show being one of Cartoon Network's popular shows and getting a big fanbase off of it.

And then awhile after, two people named Carlton and Troy from Sarah's old school appear, who haven't been introduced until now. Challenging Gumball and Darwin to see how 'hardcore' they really are. Their lips and poses move like 80-90's anime characters. Which I'll get to later.

Sarah then doesn't leave them alone for the rest of the episode, even when they start playing the tennis game, she's still there buy Gumball and Darwin don't care about her or any of the people of Richwood High.

The next time Sarah is important is S3 Ep2: The Fan. Where Gumball and Darwin are trying to stop the rainbow factory from blowing up but Sarah keeps interrupting. A key part of her story that shows that she is more determined to get their attention.

After they fail to stop it and are back at school, Sarah interrupts with a bad joke. Gumball and Darwin get annoyed by it and seem to notice her more now then they did previously. She then joins them at lunch and goes all fangirl mode on them, asking what kind of trope (or something.) she should be around them. She then decides to be the 'insanely obsessive one' and stalks Gumball and Darwin.

Something to hint about is the photos that were taken during the video, all of them are Gumball and Darwin's recent adventures that we never saw her in. Witch shows she might of put herself in the show somehow.

After they discover and watched the video, they are horrified and go to confront Sarah herself.

They confront her at her locker and see how Sarah thinks about them, witch is pretty horrifying if I would say as we see drawn pictures of them in a somewhat anime-ish style. Similar to Carlton and Troy but more girlish stariotype.

They then decide to reenact the comic they found, witch ends up in them fighting while Sarah watches. After Gumball almost burtualy injures Darwin because Sarah couldn't stop her tape, Gumball puts the paper in the fan witch shreads it up and they both are angry at her. She then starts singing the outro song in witch signals the end of the episode, another sign that she is not from this universe.

Contrary to earlier beliefs that the 4th season would be the concluding installment, even the spicy webcomic that is not being animated on national French kids' TV, this new season will mark the series' true finale.

An exclusive press release sent through 'K5 News FM: Dumaguete' reveals quotes from Mr. Anthony Roux, the show creator and co-director of the French TV series. The upcoming final season will conclude the adventures of now-married 'Yugo Sharm' the eliatrope and their friends. Roux has confirmed that the 5th and final season will feature the last 26 new episodes. During an online press briefing… Ankama's Transmedia Manager "XyaLe7111" told K5 News FM: Dumaguete news team that the storyline will focus on the early days of Yugo Sharm and Amalia Sheran Sharm's marriage, introducing a new narrative arc and a potential new villain, whose identity remains undisclosed.

The final chapter of this French cartoon show eyes up the excitement. Ankama benefits from the support of a French public broadcaster 'France Televisions', but the Kickstarter campaign remains essential to offer a high-quality production. The cost of new episodes is around €UR500,000 or a total budget of €UR13 million (which is approximately PHP30,162,600 or PHP784,227,600 million Philippine pesos).

Thanks to partners and regional aid, 50-60% of the budget is already covered there, while Ankama finances the rest in full. Fan support is therefore crucial to allow the studio to remain artistically independent and preserve the creativity that has made the series successful.

In the Kickstarter at launch, there are 7 pledge levels to finance the show. Price starts at €UR25 for 'The Final Countdown', then 'Start of a New Era' costs €UR69, following 'Battle for the Eliacube' costs €UR149, 'My Brother, My King' also costs €UR219 and 'Grougaloragran the Eternal' cost €UR399 from levels 1 to 5.

Okay, these thoughts have been bothering us since the first release of the trailer. When the gameplay intro dialogues leaked into the network, we felt some vague anxiety, but with the publication of character descriptions, these doubts became stronger. Here's what we want to say: in the New Era of Liu Kang, all the characters that were shown to us are a mixture of two different characters - in behavior, place in the plot, roles. See for yourself: the current Raiden is a morphing of Raiden and the mortal Liu Kang. Kitana is a mix of Kitana and Jade. Mileena is a mixture of Mileena herself and Kitana (princess, elder sister). The Scorpion (whoever he is) is probably Kuai and Hanzo (the venerable warrior Lin Kuei and Bi Han's younger brother, but in a yellow uniform). However, most of all in this bacchanal, it is Bi Han who confuses. Because he is essentially a mixture of Bi Han himself and the Sector. A man with ambitions of dominating his clan over all others, who seems to have killed his own father, the Grandmaster. Between rounds, the phrase "Die like my father" can be heard from Bi Han, which hints at his involvement. And this is essentially what the Sector was doing. He aspired to power by any methods, was ideologically loyal to the clan, was the son of a Grandmaster and killed his father. Why the hell was this done? Bi Han has always been portrayed as a man who doesn't care much about power. From the very first part, he was the one who wanted to leave the clan (the ending of Sub-Zero in the original MK1). And now the writers have decided to make him an asshole by mixing him with another character. What for? To make the Scorpion look better against his background? To be forgiven for killing Bi Han? And Bi Han always dies, he has not survived in any game, cartoon or movie yet. Is this such a preparation for fratricide so that we do not strongly condemn Scorpio? We would really like to believe in some crazy theory, that the plot will show an incredible message (it is possible that good is impossible without sacrifice), but you know - this is NRS. When it comes to plots, it's worth remembering that the development of events that you presented in your head first will be correct. The most banal, the most ordinary, trivial and without fiction development of events will be true. Because the NRS writers don't think about the plot for more than five minutes. It's absolutely disgusting. We feel cheated. They show us completely different characters and try to tell us that these are the ones we love. But it's not them. Don't lie to us. We desperately want to believe that the plot will still surprise us, that the studio will not do this to us by changing the characters so radically. But if in the end everything stays like this, then go to hell. We're just going to ignore the fucking new canon.

The Boondocks #32: “Bitches to Rags” | May 9th, 2010 - 11:30PM | S03E02

A very good and funny episode of The Boondocks show, even though I had to look up the “cultural references” sub-section of this episode’s wiki page on the Boondocks wiki to find out that it’s lampooning the feud between Ice-T and Soulja Boy, who used online videos to braise that beef.

In this episode: Thugnificent (the famous rapper that lives across the street from the Freemans) is going through a lean period on the precipice of his new album's release. Unfortunately he had the poor taste to include auto-tune (a thing Kanye was mocked mercifully for around this time; this was a year after the South Park episode that called him gay for it or whatever they said) on every track, causing him to NOT recoup the costs of production on said album and remain poor.

His attempts at clawing his way back into riches include making and selling crack for the first time, which culminates in a very funny scene that parodies Paul Thomas Anderson’s motion picture of Boogie Nights. At the end of the episode, Thugnificent becomes Andy Merrill’d into a delivery truck job. 

Man this show is funny. There is a moment early on where Riley goes over to Thugnificent’s house to play video games and Thug greets him by asking if he brought over the extra controller. I’m not even sure it’s an intentionally funny joke, but I laughed. It’s just a funny line for an adult to say to a child, and it’s also good storytelling because it hints at Thug’s destitution. He probably used to have extra controllers on hand but sold them to gamestop on his way to the bottom.

This episode is fairly significant for barely including the Freemans. In fact, Huey doesn’t have a speaking role, which is good because he’d probably just say something WOKE >_<;;

why was problem solverz original pilot Neon Knome called Neon Knome?

As far as I can piece this together, before Adult Swim’s Neon Knome OR Cartoon Network’s Problem Solverz, they had created a different short that had nothing to do with the characters in Adult Swim’s Neon Knome or Cartoon Network’s Problem Solverz and THAT independent short/pilot was called Problem Solvers (with no “z”). That starred a different set of characters, and did not involve the Neon Knome/Problem Solverz trio (that I know of; I’m too lazy to watch the thing right now). So the reason Problem Solverz was not initially called Problem Solverz was because they were using that name for something else. 

Furthermore, the short that was a precursor to Neon Knome was called Gone Cabin Carzy (sic) and the conceit of that shot was that it was an episode of the fictional “The Alfe Show”. As to why they decided to spin off Gone Cabin Carzy and call it Neon Knome? I don’t know. I think they just liked the idea of “The Alfe Show” being a fictional show, if that makes any sense. So, they had to call the show something, and Neon Knome sounds good, so why not?

Marina nearly killed a Canadian Special Ops agent when she learned Tao and Lark were being airlifted out, without her.

They were both in dire need of surgery that the camps Canada had set up in the aftermath of the bombings couldn’t provide. Tao’s knee was shattered, and had simply been immobilized with a cast and nothing more. Lark’s arm was completely botched, and would likely need to have a few inches more amputated in order to close it properly. Tao was at high risk of infection, and Lark’s infection had never fully healed.

A case worker promised them all, Marina would join them soon.

Tao lay in a hospital bed in Toronto, mind racing. The bedside table was scattered with pamphlets, detailing his options. The assistance he could apply for. Citizenship. Protection.

He wondered if Lark was being bombarded with information as well, information he’d have little frame of reference to process. He’d been barely a teenager when this war began.

There was a TV in Tao’s room, something he hadn’t seen in a long time – by choice, as the airwaves in the remains of the US were flooded with the Commander’s propaganda. But this one showed channels that made Tao grin like he was seeing an old friend. Cartoons. Shopping networks. Real news.

News of the Commander’s death; of the Capitol’s fall; of the Military’s dispersal. News of the camps being set up by the UN, by Doctors Without Borders, taking in anyone and everyone. Even the Commander’s deserters.

It had all become too much, eventually. Tao had turned the TV off, set aside the pamphlets, shut his eyes, and tried to calm down. But the ringing in his ears never quite left. The buzzing in his bones never quite settled.

Until someone slipped into his room.

“Lark!” Tao jerked his head up, “Hey!”

“Hey.” Lark stopped by the door, slightly hunched, his eyes scanning the room as if for threats.

“Come in, come in!” Tao waved at a chair by his bedside, “Come sit!”

Lark moved further into the room and tentatively sat, watching Tao out of the corner of his eye.

“Are you okay?” Tao couldn’t help but look over Lark, taking in his slightly shorter left arm, wrapped snugly in compression bandages. “Are you supposed to be walking around?”

“Yeah, I’m okay, it’s okay,” Lark bobbed his head.

“I would’ve come to see you, but…” Tao waved a hand at his leg with a hint of frustration.

Lark nodded again. “Are they…” his eyes darted around the room once more, “Making you talk to somebody?”

“No. Are they making you talk to somebody? An investigator, or…?”

“She says she’s a counselor. She wants me to tell her about the Commander.”

Tao considered this for a moment before speaking.

“You shouldn’t have to talk about anything you don’t want to talk about,” he said gently, “But it might be good. To talk to her. Is she nice?”

“She’s okay. She’s the only one who will call me Lark, everyone else…” Lark trailed off.

Tao decided to risk it.

“What… happened to Karlo?” he asked gently.

“Karlo died.” Lark didn’t hesitate. He stared at the floor, his face soft and sad.

“Where did Lark come from?” Tao ventured.

Lark didn’t speak for several minutes. They sat together in a somber but comfortable quiet while he gathered his thoughts. Then he began.

“I wasn’t alone, in the beginning. There were four of us. We became friends. We had to, there was – there was nothing else. But one of them, he and I – whenever I was scared, he’d tell me about birds. He knew everything about birds. And we could hear one, where we were. And it was a lark.” He hesitated, then added quickly, “His name was Evan, and I really loved him.”

Tao took a little while to absorb this, letting the room lapse back into silence.

“What happened to them?” he eventually asked, feeling like he already knew the answer.

“They died, too.”

Tao was at a loss for words.

“I’m so sorry, Lark.”

Lark shrugged, his eyes still glued to the floor.

“I just don’t think about it.”

Now Tao was the one who took some time to plan his words, picking at a loose thread in the hospital blanket.

“Lark… If you never think about the people that you’ve lost, you’ll start to forget them. And that’s worse than the pain of remembering.”

Lark ducked his head down further.

“But I wasn’t allowed, to be in pain, around the Commander. Unless that’s what he wanted. I couldn’t cry, or be distracted, or sad, ever.”

“But you can do all that now,” said Tao emphatically, “No one is expecting you to hold it together, Lark. You can be sad. You can be in pain. You can cry.”

Lark looked up and around again, his eyes darting over the door before returning to Tao.

“Maybe just around you?” he whispered, like he was asking permission.

“Of course,” Tao immediately replied.

Lark dropped his head again, rubbing his hand up and down his thigh. His chin started to tremble.

“…I miss my mom.”

“Oh, bud, c’mere.” Tao reached out an arm. Lark slowly got up and paused next to the bed, blinking back tears, before giving in and climbing on to lie next to Tao, resting his head on Tao’s shoulder. Tao wrapped his arms around him, pulling him close.

“You can cry. I don’t mind at all.”

Lark’s body shook with silent, suppressed sobs. After a minute they broke through into audible cries, punctuated by sniffles. Tao pressed his own sleeve to Lark’s nose.

“It’ll be okay. Your mom will catch up with us soon.”

Tao knew she would. There was no way that Marina Dolidze would be separated from her son for one second longer than was absolutely necessary. And she had help – Becca would get her to Canada, no matter what. Tao also knew, deep down in his bones, that they were safe now. That maybe things would be complicated, and difficult, and frustrating, but they were no longer in danger. Lark was no longer in danger. Eventually, they’d be able to live in peace.

And he also had the feeling that, someday, Karlo would come home.

Christmas is a time, when you can what I like to refer to as “over feel” or, as the kids say, over “feels” but what I truly feel sometimes is “over the feels”.

The holidays, at least for me, seem to sometimes over magnify my lack of involvement. I think Charles Schultz was really onto something when he wrote about it for the peanuts Christmas. Charlie Brown didn’t feel very well liked or included, and it was really hard for him at Christmas to feel that wonderful spirit, because everything in his 3D life showed him his belief, that no one cared about him.

Lucy, his classmate, is usually pretty judgemental of him, but she made a good point that perhaps if he became more involved in some community activities of the holiday season, it would allow him the opportunity to feel that Christmas spirit. So he did, but his beliefs were still magnified on the outside of him, that people were disrespecting him, and no one was listening to, or including him. Til the end of the peanuts Christmas special, but that doesn’t always happen in real life.

That’s pretty fudging depressing. We don’t live in a cartoon where we have to wrap up the “poop present” he received from every kid, happily, in 22 minutes, ok? If I were Charlie Brown, I would’ve threatened to shove that dry and prickly little branch tree where the sun didn’t shine to all those bratty kids. I would’ve said in a not so Christmasy way,

“Um, excuse me Peanuts gang! Yeah, I hate to interrupt your nonsense you got going on here on stage, cause I’m sure it’s really important, but you got a PROBLEM with the Christmas tree I was so kind to pick out AND PAY FOR while you acted a fool up here in this auditorium singing and dancing all Willy nilly with no direction or destiny? If you think you’re all something, why the Christmas cracker am I here? For my health?! No! Am i not the director?! Last time i checked i thought i was! So no to you, peanuts gang! I’m supposed to be here getting involvement, right?! But you know what I discovered about myself along the way? I’m kind with the exception of now, and super delightful! And you, are not the kind of people I want to have involvement with! So why don’t you take your snarky comments and nippy “Jack Frost” attitude about me and send em in a holiday card to someone who gives a holiday rat’s pixie dust patoot! (Yeah, i don’t know how to pretty that one up, folks….) And while you’re at it, put some mistletoe above that rat’s (i know how to pretty it up! I’ll throw some glitter on it…) glittery derrière! And you know what to do! Just in case you don’t I’ll help you out…. Pucker up! Yeah! Jerk faches….”

I mean, who in the “h-e- double hocky sticks” wants to be involved with these kind of people, complainy and eh eh eh eh ehhhhhhhhhhhhh about every little thing, especially around the holidays?! I know i don’t! (I’m pretty sure that was a direct quote from Charlie Brown’s sister, Sally from one of those Christmas specials, too. The “h-e” was eliminated from the “hockey sticks” part when she said it, but i know what she meant.) Needless to say, I’d be Charlie Brown in this scenario, with most likely a few Christmas cards in the form of restraining orders… 🤣🤷‍♀️🙈🎅🤣🤣🤣

So, even if you have to be by yourself binge watching the “holiday baking championship” on the fudging food network when you don’t even bake and you eat a salmon salad while you look at all the delicious looking desserts then you go into your pantry about 32 times saying, “yes. No. Yes. No. Yes. No.” trying NOT to eat yourself out of house and home, especially if it has even a hint of sugar, which you do eat but it’s not nearly as satisfying as what you’re looking at on the show, and you sit with your semi but not sugar starved, grinchy self, thinking as Christmasy as a burnt cookie with “stink stank stunk” royal icing, cause you learned the baking terms but not the actual baking technique, at least no one will bother you, in person. But, they will if you think about them, and how they treated you in the past. So don’t do that!
