Hello. I'm non-Indian. So i need your help to understand what they are going to do with IPK again?
Hi!
It’s a rerun. They’re showing the original series again in a one hour slot (so I think it will be two episodes a day; ten episodes a week). It’s already available on Hotstar but this way they reach a wider audience and it contributes to ratings.
Unlike other reruns, however, this time they’re having Arnav ‘narrate’. From the looks of it, Sobti has shot small Ek Jashn like scenes as Arnav. (By God it was amazing to see Arnav six years on tho. My heart does this flippy thing and everything.)
According to Gautam Hegde they wrote poetry in Hindi for Arnav (like this), which likely will make it as out of character as anything, but we’ll all still tune in because we’re suckers.
This is brilliant on Star Plus’ behalf because not only does it grab new viewers, it forces people who are familiar with the serial to watch as well.
There’s no real point in speculating or guessing because it starts in a day or so, but my initial thought was that Arnav will sit around at home and babble to the camera about what he was thinking or feeling ala Ek Jashn. The only way I see this working is if these scenes bookend the original footage. This means I think they’ll be inserted before an episode starts, before or after an ad-break, or at the end. I don’t think the narration includes a voice-over on the original footage, but that’s because I find the idea nauseating.
I have no way of knowing, and honestly I’m fairly pissed off about the entire idea. I wish they’d just leave it alone lol.
Hey @ratnas-musings
Extended as in it’s a similar idea, yeah. But I doubt the one hour slot will consist of Arnav talking at us for 22 minutes and then a 22 minute episode. At least, I hope it’s not.
I don’t work at Star Plus and I dislike speculating about stuff, but I think they’re feeling the waters for something. I thought they had something planned for after EJ so I won’t be surprised. With EJ, IPK3, the Yaadon ki Baaraat thing, and now this, I’m suspicious and wary, and generally pissed off.
