Hii! This is a more slow burn request so I’m sorry if it’s a little difficult, but could I request Heartsteel Ezreal x reader who’s knowledgeable and quite sarcastic and quick witted with their replies? I just wonder how their meeting would go with the whole Black cat, golden retriever vibe!
And maybe the reader sometimes suffers from low self-esteem and burnout.
Pairing: Heartsteel!Ezreal x Reader ft. all members
Heartsteel AU, attempted humor, fluff
Warnings: grumpymanager!Reader, Kayn is annoying as fuck… language? lol
Word Count: ~1.4k
© Please do not copy/ post on other platforms without permission.
Author’s Note: Hiii~ Thank you for the Ezreal request, sweetie! I do have my favorites in Heartsteel to write for, and he is definitely at the top of that list <3 Not sure if this is exactly what you wanted, but let’s give it a try! As usual, let me know via comments/ asks/ reblogs, I try stay on it~ P.S. The stuff I post for requests is usually not beta’ed, so pls bear with me…
You rubbed your tired eyes and cursed, checking if your fingers had any mascara on them. There was an issue to resolve, and you had hoped to finish up before the Heartsteel members returned to the waiting room after their rehearsal. But your plan failed miserably.
‘Our dearest manager!’ Kayn appeared next to you, wrapping his arm around your shoulder. ‘Always working, what a busy little bee!’
You raised your eyebrow at him and stayed silent until he cleared his throat and retracted his arm, while the rest of the members scattered around the room, minding their own business.
‘Someone has to work around here,’ you replied, typing away on your laptop.
‘You should take a break and go grab something to eat at least,’ Yone suggested.
His amiable comment made you release a desperate sigh.
‘They messed up the mic backup, Yone. Not to mention that we have the music video budget due tomorrow and someone screwed up the calculations. I cannot let you film without the drones or the special effects crew. If you do everything yourselves, you’ll be dead before you go on stage again, and I will be ripped into a million tiny pieces by the company or your fans. And I don’t know which one’s worse…’
‘If that’s Sett’s fans you’ll live. They all twinky as shit, look at Phel.’ Kayn cackled, and Yone glared at him.
Sett and Aphelios exchanged looks, probably deciding to give their most annoying member a proper thrashing another time just for the sake of your emotional wellbeing. At least someone understood how dire the situation was.
‘How can I help?’ The producer asked.
Although you appreciated the offer, you knew that they had to perform tomorrow, so Yone would have to supervise the last of preparations starting early morning. You could not allow him to spend the night helping you and then go straight into tomorrow’s work. The price of a screwup was too high on this one.
‘You can help by taking them out for dinner and making sure they’re tucked in later. I don’t want anyone out wreaking any havoc while I’m not around to settle everything.’
‘That I can arrange.’ Yone nodded, giving the rest of the members a solid onceover. ‘You heard Y/N, boys. No fun for you tonight, we have a very long day tomorrow.’
‘Ugh. Buzzkill…’ Sett sighed, and Phel pinched him on the arm, hard. ‘Ow!!’
‘I think we can live with one night in, guys,’ Ezreal interjected. ‘We’re so tired anyway.’
‘Speak for yourself, young man. I am full of energy!’ K’Sante retorted.
What a traitorous blow! You’d expect it from anyone but him.
Noticing your flabbergasted expression, K’Sante quickly continued.
‘…which I can spend by working some iron in the gym before bed time.’
You shook your head, trying to focus on your spreadsheet again. It was a little- no, it was extremely overwhelming, trying to fix several urgent issues at once, while running on a couple hours of sleep, half a sandwich (had to donate the rest to Sett – he’s still growing, after all… or so he thinks) and way too much coffee.
‘Are you going to stay here though?’ Ezreal asked, sounding too quiet for his usual bubbly self.
You assumed he was afraid to get the short end of the stick and make you explode with his question. But you were too tired to even yell at any of them.
‘Not that I have any choice,’ you answered dryly. ‘Not everyone can teleport, Ezzie.’
He pursed his lips, probably realizing that it was best to leave you alone before you gave him the same glare that Kayn had earned earlier. Unlike the demonic bastard, Ezreal was among the members who preferred to stay away from you when you were fuming, as opposed to irritating you further to poke some fun. Yone had already spent a week negotiating for you to take back your resignation once, so they were on their best behavior ever since. Well, the best they could muster, which wasn’t that great but in the grand scheme of things… you’d take what you could get.
After they all vacated the premises, you finally managed to send the updated budget numbers for approval, and made a few calls about the mic replacement. It was unbelievable, but you really had to find someone to get the necessary equipment and fly in to bring it on time. So you stayed at the venue to be able to check whether everything worked fine right away.
But later that night, a mystery visitor woke you up while scooping you off the chair to get you onto the sofa.
‘Mhm- what… Who’s here??’ You jerked up from your uncomfortable sleeping position, accidentally hitting someone in the face with your head.
‘Ow!’ You heard someone squeak and turned around, finding Ezreal in pain, holding his hand to his nose.
‘What on Earth brings you here??’ You instinctively pinched the bridge of his nose as if that would help with the pain. ‘Wait, what time is it? Where is my phone??’
‘I took it,’ he said, wiping under his nose to check for blood.
Thankfully, there was none, and he was okay. Your nervous system, however, was not as lucky.
‘What do you mean, you took it??’ You frantically checked the time on your laptop. ‘3:23? I was supposed to meet someone an hour ago! Why didn’t you wake me up?!’
You grabbed your phone from blabbering Ezreal, but he clung to you like a koala.
‘Y/N, I-’
‘I know. You didn’t think properly, and now I will have to find a way to get that guy to come back if he isn’t sleeping in his hotel already… Shit, Ezzie, you fucked up! No, I fucked up. How could I have fallen asleep?? Stupid, stupid, stupid!’ You knocked on your own head with your knuckles to make a point, and Ezreal caught you by the wrist with his two hands, looking as if you had hit him and not yourself.
‘Y/N, I already met with him and took the mics. We ran a test downstairs with some of the overnight technicians. Everything is set up and working fine.’
You blinked at him a few times, still confused.
‘Uh- You… did?’
‘Yes. I came back earlier and you were asleep. Then someone called you, so I figured- And then I went down and checked everything,’ he delivered anxiously. ‘I also brought you a sandwich- but I didn’t want to wake you, so…’
He grabbed a paper bag from the sofa and shoved it into your hands. You looked at it, and then back at Ezreal, your sleepy and stressed-out brain still catching up with everything.
‘Um- so you brought me… a sandwich?’ You asked.
‘Yes,’ he nodded, strangely bashful. ‘And a juice box.’
His cheeks became rosy, and you couldn’t help but burst out laughing. Ezreal looked like a stray puppy, unsure about whether it was safe to express his affection.
As your laughter settled, you finally exhaled. Everything was okay, thanks to your unexpected little helper for tonight. And now that he’d mentioned the food…
‘I hope you got me an extra-large one.’ You hummed, sitting your butt down.
‘I got two,’ he beamed. ‘And a chocolate bar.’
‘Good. You look like you could have some chocolate right about now.’
And of course, after such an eventful night, as well as the previous few days, having a full belly made you dozy again. Although you did notice Ezreal’s head slowly tilting towards your shoulder through the layer of drowsiness, you didn’t catch your own head leaning onto his.
Due to your carelessness, you were in for a rude awakening in just a few hours.
‘Now, isn’t that adorable?’ Even from the depths of hell you would have heard Kayn exclaim in the most obnoxious voice possible.
‘I’m taking a picture. For the family album!’ K’Sante announced, quick to utilize the camera on his phone.
‘Or future blackmail…’ Kayn sneered evilly.
‘Maybe I should post that picture of you stuck in the vault with your pants down, Shieda Kayn.’ You mused out loud, eyes still shut.
There were a few sounds resembling muffled cursing, and then Kayn walked it back.
‘Hey man, we shouldn’t take pictures of people sleeping. It’s illegal or some shit. Let’s just go check on the preparations, come on.’
And so, they went back to where they came from. ‘Manager…’ You heard Ezreal whisper, head still laying on your shoulder. ‘You’re amazing.’

First vs. last day of Outlander table read.
How it started
How it ended
Grand Banqueting Hall at Barnbougle Castle
However, the Outlander table read has certainly not always lived the high style, since the former warehouse complex that became Outlander's home in 2013.
The point of a table read is the opportunity for the cast and crew to get together to read the script aloud and not attend prepared for a show.
A table read (also known as a read-through) is a crucial pre-production process for film, TV and stage. It is the first time everyone involved is assembled in one room: including actors, writers, directors, producers and other key people. The people reading the script back will generally be the actors who will be starring in the screenplay. So them or the director can make objections if you think a choice isn’t correct.
If you’ve understood what’s a table reading is a way of showing your director and fellow cast members what you're going to do with the role. The space you use for your table read doesn’t have to be an exquisite stage or set. If you want to set a professional tone for the project, however, a theatre or working performance space would be a wise choice.
Furthermore, actors do not need to print their scripts; a copy is provided as seen on SH's Instagram. During the table read, someone reads the notes and the parts that have not been distributed yet. This helps set the scene and allows the director to fully focus on listening to the actors. Pencils and highlighters are provided, but it's a good idea to bring your own just in case, as taking notes is an essential part of the process. At this table, there are no pencils in front of the actors, only one laptop. Perhaps they don't need to remember what's important, which is very unusual.
Industry-standard table reads are a lot different from the private table reads. They will take place after you’ve got your script commissioned and pre-production is largely at an end.
It’s often helpful to record the table read so that you can review it later on. That way, you will be able to remember certain aspects of the script of those areas that need improvement. You don’t need anything grandiose or hire a film crew, just a simple, static camera in the back of the room that records clear audio should be suitable.
Even major cable networks like Netflix or HBO with a superior budget than STARZ maintain a low profile when it comes to the latest table read. This includes directors, producers, and actors with very solid careers who earn more per episode than most people who met at the Grand Banqueting Hall for an entire year. They avoid publicity when reading their scripts and certainly don’t see them doing their pre-production work in a luxurious setting.
Look at the spaces chosen during the last read table of some acclaimed TV series that ran for eight seasons and more 🎬
youtube
The final table read of Games of Thrones season 8 was in the same place in Titanic studios in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
youtube
Or the Big Bang Theory, final scene table read after 12 seasons were at the set - property of program creators and CBS.
youtube
The cast of NBC's The Office - Finale - Table Read
I was happy that the Outlander production selected Barnbougle Castle, a majestic family home. However, I was surprised that Barnbougle Castle was chosen for a table read event rather than a close as a final flourish. The table read was treated as a grand spectacle, with guests attending a private event, which seemed extravagant considering that reading a script is a normal part of an actor's job. The event included a choir, special catering, and even embroidered cotton napkins from season 8 of Outlander. Fans might be wondering where they can buy these napkins as part of their Outlander memorabilia.
Table reading is both challenging and important. One significant thing to note is that you don't need to hire a fancy place to read the script. However, this table read seems to be a farewell to the Outlander colleagues and employees for making the workplace a fun place over the past 10 years. Unless the Outlander STARZ production has “an ace up the sleeve” It seems the grandeur of this table read would mark Outlander's GOODBYE to Scotland. After this little is left to be shown.
While season 8 will be Outlander’s last — and is currently in production — the last half of season 7 has yet to drop on Starz. The series will return on November 22 with eight episodes premiering weekly.
…….. My thoughts on it!

Okay, poll time regarding an important purchase in my day-to-day life.
In short, I am ready to upgrade from my (glances to the Acer laptop that's been dead for a year) laptop...
I now have a very big budget (it's considered big in my country) that I got over the summer to finally spend it on an upgrade.
I need a poll because now I got an idea to buy a PC, which is dangerous territory for me for numerous reasons. Some background: I haven't had a PC since I was 14, I got my laptop (which is dead now) right as I entered high school, and it was a cheap one, it couldn't even run Minecraft without lagging which at the time pissed off my gamer childhood self.
But, as a functioning, employed adult, I finally did it. I finally saved up enough money to buy a new device.
The accesibility & portability of laptops is def what I need overall for my professional life. They're not a MUST at my work place at all, but it would be NICE to be able to access my documents on laptop & edit them there or during the way home rather than go to the office again for the PC.
Here’s the thing. The laptop I can afford is not better by performance against the gaming PC I can afford.
Why a gaming PC?
Because I am a whimsical little shit. I see a program and I want to master it for hobby's sake, or just cus I'm that curious. What if I one day want to pick up Blender or 3D sculpting or some shit just to try it?! It's happened before, and it continues happening. I jump from hyperfixation to hyperfixation like a ping pong ball. A laptop at the price range I want to buy won't be able to run complex games or Blender.
The childhood me, in my soul, wants that freaking PC. But my basic normal thought process is also aware if I get a gaming PC it may distract me from my work bcs... Well the PC will be able to do EVERYTHING. At least I'm self-aware enough of that.
Another thing is...
Durability & longer-life & upgradability
I can always upgrade the PC, I know my way around PC hardware. The PC will last me longer than the laptop probably will, and I can't upgrade the laptop.
But then I have no portability & always-accessibility the laptop offers, and if I get the laptop it will be for work, Photoshop & fic writing if I get used to it (I won't, I hate writing on laptops). Which is perfect, I'll be able to do my work even on the go, I can carry it with me, etc etc and I WON'T BE DISTRACTED.
So! I guess, vote bcs at this point I'll toss a goddamn coin! And before anyone asks, no I won't put the Macbook on the list, I like having my liver, thank you.
My biggest fear is that I've grown so used to the laptop interface if I buy a PC I'll just take time re-configuring my brain to use it, so what if I hate it? I have so many fears, and I don't want to waste my money and then go like "ugh, I'm disappointed". I'm used to reading on the laptop, typing on the laptop, working on the laptop, etc. I have all PC peripherals except a monitor but the IT stores are having huge discounts & sales now I can grab one from anywhere at this point so that doesn't concern me a lot.
This is a purchase I'll treat myself with for my birthday. I've spoken to friends, some say laptop, some say PC. Anyway, here is the poll. I'll put it for today.
I just love both but I have to pick, but I can't. Laptop is more familiar to me now than a PC 🤣 a PC would be dangerous cus I will def get the urge to play games instead of WORKING, but on the off hours it'd be a party 🤣
For info, the
PC would be
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600
GPU: RX 6600
RAM: 16GB
That is the overall idea and I even found a custom pc builder in my country, too, if the prebuilt ones are too expensive, haha.
Laptop Models:
Lenovo Ideapad 3 with Ryzen 5, 16Gb RAM, Integrated Intel GPU
Lenovo V15 G5, also Ryzen 5, 16gb ram, integrated Intel GPU

Exploring the Benefits of Buying Refurbished Laptops Near Me
If you’re on the lookout for a laptop upgrade but have a tight budget, refurbished laptops are an excellent option to consider. “Refurbished” simply means the device has been returned to the seller, tested, repaired (if necessary), and then resold at a lower price. You can find quality refurbished laptops near you at reputable electronics stores and online marketplaces that specialize in restoring laptops to near-new condition. Here’s why a refurbished laptop might be the right choice for you.
Affordability with Quality
One of the top benefits of choosing a refurbished laptops near me is affordability. Refurbished models are typically priced significantly lower than brand-new ones, making them an attractive option for students, small business owners, or anyone seeking a good deal. Major brands like Apple, Dell, and Lenovo often have refurbished versions of their laptops available, meaning you can get a high-end device for a fraction of the price.
Reliability and Warranties
Reputable refurbishers conduct thorough testing to ensure each device performs well. This process includes checking the battery, hard drive, screen, keyboard, and other components to ensure they are in working order. Additionally, many refurbishers offer warranties, giving you extra peace of mind. Warranties usually cover a period ranging from 30 days to a year, so if any issues arise, you’re covered.
Eco-Friendly Option
Buying a refurbished laptop is also an eco-conscious decision. By choosing a refurbished device, you’re extending the life cycle of a product that might otherwise end up as electronic waste. This reduces the demand for new resources and the environmental impact associated with manufacturing new devices.
Finding Refurbished Laptops Near You
Many retailers and authorized refurbishers offer refurbished laptops both in-store and online. Places like Best Buy, Micro Center, and authorized brand-specific stores often have a selection of refurbished laptops. When shopping locally, you also have the benefit of inspecting the laptop in person, ensuring that it meets your quality standards.
In summary, opting for a refurbished laptop can offer significant savings, reliability, and environmental benefits. When you choose a reputable refurbisher, you can get a high-quality laptop with a warranty to suit your needs—an excellent investment without breaking the bank.

The Ultimate Guide to Choosing the Perfect VPN
In an era where online privacy and security have become paramount, choosing the right Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a crucial decision. With countless options available, finding the perfect VPN can be a daunting task. This comprehensive guide aims to simplify the process and help you make an informed choice.
Define Your Needs: Begin by identifying your primary reasons for using a VPN. Are you seeking enhanced security, anonymous browsing, or access to geo-restricted content? Your goals will shape the features you prioritize in a VPN.
No-Logs Policy: Opt for a VPN provider that strictly follows a no-logs policy. This ensures that your online activities remain confidential and aren't stored on the provider's servers.
Server Locations: Consider the VPN's server network. The more extensive and diverse the server locations, the better your access to geo-restricted content from around the world.
Speed and Performance: Some VPNs can slow down your internet speed. Choose a VPN with high-speed servers to ensure smooth streaming, gaming, and browsing experiences.
Compatibility: Ensure the VPN is compatible with all your devices – from desktops and laptops to smartphones and tablets. Look for multi-device support to secure all your gadgets with a single subscription.
User-Friendly Interface: A user-friendly interface makes setup and usage hassle-free. Intuitive apps and easy-to-navigate settings contribute to a positive VPN experience.
Customer Support: Responsive customer support is invaluable, especially if you encounter technical issues. 24/7 live chat, email, and comprehensive online resources can be a lifesaver.
Free vs. Paid: While free VPNs exist, they often come with limitations on data usage, slower speeds, and potential privacy concerns. Consider investing in a paid VPN for a premium experience.
Trial Periods and Money-Back Guarantees: Reputable VPN providers offer trial periods or money-back guarantees. These allow you to test the VPN's features and performance risk-free before committing.
Reputation and Reviews: Research online reviews and user feedback to gauge the reputation and reliability of the VPN provider. Positive testimonials can provide valuable insights.
Pricing Plans: Compare pricing plans and subscription options. Some providers offer different tiers with varying features, so choose the one that aligns with your needs and budget.
Additional Features: Some VPNs offer additional features such as ad-blocking, malware protection, and split tunneling. Evaluate whether these extras align with your requirements.
Privacy Jurisdiction: Research the VPN provider's jurisdiction – where they are legally based. Opt for a provider located in a privacy-friendly jurisdiction to ensure your data is protected.
Regular Audits and Transparency: Choose a VPN provider that undergoes third-party security audits and is transparent about its practices. This adds an extra layer of trustworthiness.
In conclusion, selecting the ideal VPN involves careful consideration of your needs, preferences, and priorities. By evaluating security features, performance, compatibility, and more, you can find a VPN that seamlessly integrates into your online life while providing the privacy and security you deserve. What’s in a Computer 101
Motherboard - everything plugs into this. It makes sure every part talks nicely to each other.
CPU - brain of the computer. Roughly, bigger numbers = more brainpower
GPU - makes the pictures happen. Again, bigger numbers roughly equal more picture power.
RAM - short term memory. More of this means more things can happen at once. This is what gets eat by your open google chrome tags and makes things slower.
Storage - long term memory. Where you store all your downloaded but unplayed steam games.
PSU - UNLIMITED POWER. Nah but this is your battery and what makes sure all the pieces can turn on. Make sure it’s big enough and do not under any circumstances cheap out on this if buying separately. A cheap psu will explode.
Cooling - power=heat. More power means more cooling. There’s a ton of options.
Case - what everything goes into. Size matters. Make sure it’s big enough.
Motherboard - This determines the kind of cpu you can purchase because they fit into the board differently. They have different stuff going on depending on how much you want to spend. Basic boards will do what you want, but they may look busier and be lacking things you want (like a million usb connections or internal Wi-Fi).
They come in different sizes. Micro-ITX is itty bitty. Surprisingly, this does not mean cheaper. Then it’s mini-ATX. Both mini and micro will be lacking the extra PCIE slots that let you plug in things like multiple graphics cards or a Wi-Fi board if your motherboard doesn’t have that capability built-in. ATX is your standard size motherboard. Then it’s E-ATX. You can have More Stuff on this one. It’s big.
Pick a motherboard that has the functionality you want on it. You gotta make that choice based on your budget and on the other parts we’ll talk about in a minute.
You don’t really get to pick this for a laptop though.
CPU - There are two companies that make computer brains: Intel and AMD. They are in a constant fight to be the company with the most powerful brain. Their number schemes are weird. Intel is i3-, i5-, i7-, and i9- followed by some very large number. The general rule is the bigger the number, the more it can handle. AMD has the 3000,5000, and 7000 series. Again, bigger number, better performance. Bigger number also means more money. AMD had better cost/performance ratios when I built my stuff, but unless you’re aiming for the top tier of performance, the difference honestly isn’t that noticeable between companies.
GPU -On a pc, this will be your most expensive component. Again, bigger numbers = better performance = more money. There are two companies for graphic processing units: AMD and NVIDIA. NVIDIA has the RTX line or cards. The most recent is their 4000 series (4060,4070,4080,4090) and AMD’s 7000 series (7600 and 7000) Radeon cards are their competition. Again, unless you are aiming for The Best, you will not necessarily notice a difference and there ain’t no god damn reason to buy the 4090 or 7900 unless you have $2k USD burning a hole in your pocket.
The NVIDIA 3000 series and AMD 6000 series will be cheaper and work just fine. All of NVIDIA’s cards since the 3000 series have raytracing which is a fancy lighting thing big games use right now. It’s pretty and you do actually notice the difference. AMD’s lower tier cards don’t. I believe NVIDIA is sorta winning the performance fight right now but like I said. Unless you are going for ultra/elite settings on everything with 4k resolution… you’re not noticing a difference at medium/high at 1080p between any given company. You can also find older, used cards for cheaper that work just fine. Be careful that they weren’t used for mining though. They tend to be busted.
RAM - You want as much of this as you can get. 8 GB is not enough if you want to have more than one tab open in google chrome. 16 is the bare minimum for gaming. Pretty much anything new is gonna require 16GB of ram. Some people are starting to say 32 is now the thing you should aim for. Considering how cheap ram is right now, it’s probably worth it just as games get more demanding. This is less true for laptops because everything is more expensive in a laptop.
This also has to be compatible with your cpu so if you buy parts individually, you gotta do some digging on the CPU’s support list via your motherboard support site with the ram’s serial numbers to make sure it’ll work. This is not a concern with prebuilt machines like laptops or prebuilt pcs.
They also have different speeds if you want to make things go faster but that’s more advanced than I’m getting into here
Storage - There are three types of storage right now: hard drives, SSDs and M.2 SSDS. Hard drives are slower and physical. They’re cheap, good for massive storage. Not good for putting your operating system (windows, Linux, etc.) on if you want it to move quickly. SSDs - faster than hard drives, digital storage, and more expensive than hard drives. M.2 - looks like a stick of gum. Plugs into your motherboard directly (no wires), super fast. The most expensive. Laptops run off M.2s for space reasons. This makes more storage more expensive. You will need a lot of storage if you are running modern AAA games. They’re chunky now. 1000 GB makes 1 TB - most AAA games live in the land of 150 GB at least now.
PSU - power supply. Your graphics card is gonna determine this the most. But the more powerful your machine, the more power you need. This is the place you never, ever, ever cheap out. A bad power supply can blow up. Literally. Best case scenario with that is the computer you just bought is dead. Laptops don’t let you pick this. Instead you get averages of battery life. More battery life means less time plugged into a wall.
Cooling - how to keep your computer from dying from the heat. This will depend a Lot on your person preferences but also on the power of machine. Power=heat. The more powerful your machine, the more cooling you need. Entry level CPUs come with coolers. The more mid-tier and high-tier tell you to buy your own. You have two routes: air and water cooling. Air uses metal pipes and fans. Noctua is the brand everyone swears by and it’s the brand I bought when I upgraded my machine. They’re pricey, but they really are fantastic. They will also send you pieces later down the road if you upgrade your machine to a new cpu with different dimension so their cooler can still fit. Their site also has a bunch of graphs and charts and stuff to help you pick which of their coolers is best for your machine. Water cooling uses a bunch of tubes filled with water to pick up the heat and carry it to a big metal thing (radiator) that you attach fans to to blow out the hot air. It’s quieter than an air cooler, and you can do all this crazy custom stuff with it. Or you can buy an AIO (all-in-one) that just needs to be attached to your case and a fan. People fight about whether air or water cooling is better. All I know is that I don’t risk spilling water on my electronics with one. So that’s the route I go.
Laptops have their own thing going. They’ve got air cooling with little fans inside the case. More powerful laptops sometimes allow you to external coolers to help offset the heat. I would suggest these. Don’t fry your laptop.
Case - where you put everything. Laptops give you very little choice here and they all basically have the same shape. Gaming laptops are gonna have a certain Aesthetic that I can only describe as red/rainbow and Pointy. They tend to be a bit aggressive in their appearance. This is true for most gamer things and it’s hard to get around.
PC cases are mostly the same shape (rectangle) but have more variety in color and layout. That’s all personal preference though. but they’ve got stuff you gotta pay attention to. Namely their size. You gotta fit all your stuff inside it. Tiny cases will not fit an ATX motherboard. A giant case will fit everything but may also be bigger than you’d like. Basically, you gotta look at the dimensions of your other parts (the gpu and cooler mostly) and compare it to the case dimensions so everything fits. Prebuilt pcs take care of this for you.
My current rig
Motherboard: Aorus b450 pro Wi-Fi
CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3060ti
RAM: 16 GB
Storage: Samsung 860 EVO 1 TB SSD (2 of these, actually)
PSU: Corsair 650w
Cooling: Noctua NH-D15s (and a bunch of cheap upHere fans for my case)
Case: a Montech something-or-another that’s cheap and not made anymore from what I can tell
My rig can play Jedi:Survivor on high settings with ray tracing on at 1080p with no real issues. I want to do some upgrades, but that’s me chasing those insane top of the line rigs. I dont need to do that by any means. I can play any game that comes out in the next few years just fine.
@drakonovisny
#computer stuff#feel free to ask more specific questions but this is a brief overview#laptops are more about how much you want to spend#those come pre-done and you’re just picking what you like#amd is generally less expensive but that changes year to year

trying to think of like... how would I describe each laptop manufacturer on pure vibes. off the top of my head...
asus: we have more marketing and r&d budget then we can possibly spend on normal things. look, this one is coated in LEDs! this one has the keyboard in the wrong place! this one splits open! half of their premium product launches generate more youtube views than actual sales because by the time you consider buying one they're discontinued. high-end products can be quite good; midrange products are often a couple bucks too expensive because the brand name buys you some clout. spends a lot of cash to get floorspace at best buy. taiwan.
lenovo: a relative newcomer to the western market (they bought IBM's thinkpad division back in the day), used to be the kings of cost cutting on basically every part they could think of. if they've learned what parts are actually worth cutting costs on (and benefitted from the fact that these days 85% of the parts that exist are Actually Decent) there might be something there. primarily does direct online sales. mainland china.
msi: kind of hit on an identity when they made the first thin and light gaming laptop/"jack of all trades, master of none" device that was actually good, and continue to have a strong presence in that market. devices tend to be a bit on the hollow/flexible-feeling side, not necessarily in a bad way, but just in contrast to "ough that's solid but heavy." under-reviewed, imho. taiwan.
gigabyte: hey, we exist too! some cool stuff at the high end; primary drawback in the west is a reputation for spotty support if you don't speak mandarin since they just do less sales volume than the other Asian companies. mainland china
acer: budget, budget, budget. takes up a truly impressive amount of the low to midrange market with usable but unspectacular devices. once in a while they'll put out a premium-priced device and get confused reviews, like, "guys, this is just a budget laptop with a higher price tag???" known for pure gaming laptops with poor battery life, displays, keyboards, and trackpads but very competitive performance, and general use laptops that are very competent for the price tag if you can find the model that hit the right balance on all of the parts. taiwan.
lg: primarily known for the lg gram line of premium, very lightweight general-use laptops, which are pretty good. do they make anything else? korea.
samsung: yeah we make everything; sure, let's make laptops. very low volume kind of like lg, but a marketing behemoth like asus. korea.
framework: finally, a repairability-focused laptop that's actually good. only has one device (13" general-use) and it's a bit overpriced iirc, and you have some "we're a startup" stuff to deal with, but it's rare that you can take a moral stance and actually get a good product out of it. united states.
dell: kind of the flagship american laptop brand. does a bit of everything. competes with asus on the "solidly built, premium-priced, unnecessarily flashy gaming" front via alienware, with acer on the "budget-priced, competent enough gaming" front via inspiron, and with apple on the "best possible jack of all trades" front via xps. notably, has a huge refurbished store (dell outlet) with a ton of selection that's unmatched by any of the others. united states.
hp: guys we're just like dell! please believe us. used to be the other flagship american laptop brand for years and then idk they ran out of money or something and dropped most of their product lines. kind of like american acer now, I guess? united states.
apple: operating system differences aside, has a consistent standard of build quality, minimum part quality, relative reliability, and "having a working trackpad" that makes every windows laptop look like some sort of children's toy. (I am not joking: the 2008 macbook pro has a trackpad that has not been matched by a windows pc in 15 years. it is legitimately puzzling.) 2016-2019 missteps aside, 80% of the things one could list about a laptop have been multiple years ahead of the competition on the mac essentially forever. on the other hand, they're a gazillion dollars, you can't game on them basically at all, you're stuck with macos, etc etc. (the m1 macbook air in particular is so good that none of that even really matters, though. fingers crossed for the 15" m2 air to continue the trend and not be $1800.) united states.
microsoft: "look, we can match apple's build and display quality!" an extreme newcomer, specifically designed to push the windows platform in the fronts where apple traditionally ate their lunch. they absolutely have done that, and are years ahead of almost anyone else on those fronts. too bad they're constantly a year behind schedule with their hardware and only do premium pricing, had some reliability issues, and suffer from a "we glued the whole thing together and if it breaks it's unfixable" problem that they're only very recently engineering their way out of. still, managed to put a seriously compelling product (surface laptop) in the premium general-use device category until the m1 air came out. united states.
razer: "look, we can match apple's build quality in a gaming laptop!" a relative newcomer that made an incredible, unprecedented jump from a gaming mouse company to a moderate-volume premium pc manufacturer somehow. only sells to the ultra-premium gaming market (weird ultrabooks aside), but does a good job of it. united states.
clevo: the white-label manufacturer behind many smaller brands like ibuypower, maingear; often does comically huge desktop replacement style devices. taiwan.
origin/corsair: who knows, but knowing corsair (asus on bad steroids), it will be about 85% too expensive to be more than a curiosity. united states.
huawei, xiaomei: up-and-coming chinese phone manufacturers joining the laptop market a la samsung. hard to find or get service for in the west. notable because they had access to the high-end display panels that before recently only apple and microsoft used, and sold devices with them at much lower prices. mainland china.

World Cinema Blog by Natalyn Wakeling
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas - How my Perspective Changed
I was enticed to watch the Boy in the Striped Pajamas after I read the novel in my 7th grade class. This was the first time I had ever truly gained insight into what the Holocaust was and the everlasting impacts it has had on our society. I could not fathom how a society as a whole could come to the consensus of attempting to wipe out an entire human population. The morality behind this was weighing very heavily on my mind, which is why I chose to gain more perspective by watching the film which was released in 2008.
youtube
When I first watched this movie, I thought it was incredibly sad and tragic, but I was too emotionally immature to fully grasp what had really happened in the end and what the movie was really portraying. What really moved me the first time I watched this film was watching the forbidden bond of Shmuel and Bruno so tragically end. I was young and this is when I was first beginning to understand evil in the world, and I believe that is why this film really moved me.
In terms of how this film performed critically and commercially, the reviews are mixed. On Amazon, the film had a perfect 5 star review from the viewers.
This is a screenshot taken off my laptop as I was in shock to see that Amazon viewers rated this movie so highly after seeing the feedback it received from certain critics such as Roger Ebert. He rated this movie 3 1/2 stars.
This was shocking to me because Ebert doesn't really define why this movie doesn't earn more credit in his review. The brutal plot line regarding human behavior and horrific ending are usually factors that would earn a much higher rating from a film critic.
Commercially, however, this movie appears to have struck pretty well with the viewers. From the five star Prime Video rating to the immense profit $44,083,403 was the world wide revenue this movie estimated to produce. With a 12.5 million dollar budget, this movie clearly produced a great profit.
In terms of how this movie became a commercial success, there are multiple factors to consider. One, there was already a novel that was well known before the movie, which advertises for itself in a way. People who enjoyed the story are going to be inclined to watch the film. Another way is the emotional impact the movie had on many viewers is going to raise conversation. Having a tragically twisted ending to a film is going to stay in peoples minds and creates a lot of word-of-mouth advertising. This movie could've reached even more people if it was not obviously advertised as a holocaust film. The sad reality is that movies on historical events don't always do commercially the best because there is a biased that these films are trying to be more informative rather than entertaining or potentially perspective changing.
It is hard to define this movie as either unconventional or conventional. It can be seen as conventional due to the story already being in a popular novel. Obviously this gave reason to make the movie a high budget and production project. However, the storyline is not one that we se of many conventional movies. There is no enticing romance, sex appeal, or insane action production that make up many of the movies that do strongly in the commercial aspect of a film. It is a film on a historical event which is much more difficult to market and expect a high profit off of.
When I first watched this film, it didn't register to me that this event was actually quite recent in the grand timeline of historical events. I did not watch this film until about 2017, but it was released in 2008 when Obama was just becoming president. From the release date to the end of the holocaust was only a 63 year gap. In my brain, this event was so inhumane and unfathomable that I believed it to be even centuries ago. It hasn't even been a century to todays year when the holocaust ended. Part of this film being released during this year could have had partially to do with the election of Barack Obama. Obama was an activist, who also happened to be very concerned with education, so it makes sense for a film like this to be released during this time.
Rewatching the film was a very different experience this time around. It has been about 6 years since I watched the film, and I have gone through a lot of life experience and cognitive development in this period of time. One thing I can surely say is that when I used to watch movies I wouldn't really extract the abstract themes that were being presented. As I said before, the first time I watched this film I had only scratched the surface of emotional depth it really brought. All I could remember thinking about was how tragically Bruno and Shmuel went out. While this is a huge part of the film, it is not the theme. The theme is morality vs society. Even in the midst of having an entire society telling him that the Jewish were evil and "hardly human", Bruno still had the moral compass to question the validity of this. However, Bruno isn't the only person dealing with this plight throughout the film. You can see the sickening effects the true intentions of the Nazi soldiers had on Bruno's mother. She also to her best ability puts her moral compass above society's beliefs. One of the most hard scenes to watch in the movie is her screams when she comes to the realization that her son was gone due to the actions of this society. The sheer emptiness and silence that is felt when the camera keeps panning back onto the doors of where the Jewish and Bruno were brought for their final moments is what really makes this movie memorable for me. Still to this day it is one of the most sickening and twisted endings to a film I have ever seen.

A comment on a more recent review of this film said "Using the innocency of a child to convey the sad outcome of the movie is mind-blowing". This is truly what the movie encompasses for me is that this event in history tragically effected so many innocent people, and I don't really believe that is ever truly displayed enough. The simplicity of this movie really makes the message louder to me. Recently released movies often all have a Hollywood feel to them that makes them feel unauthentic. That is why in this movie the raw acting and sheer tragedy is well displayed without feeling too tacky or "Hollywood".
Even though the Holocaust is over, the theme of this movie is still relevant. Morality vs. Society is something that challenges our minds everyday. Just because something is normalized does not make it ethical, and we see this on smaller scales to this day.

I'm replying in good faith cause I think this is worthwhile to point out. But I said comparable. Those specs will get you performance close to a PS4 and likely won't run this year's games at 60 frames even at 1080p on ultra high settings. If you want to get performance close to the PS5 or Series X, your graphics card alone is about as much as the console then another 100-200 if you get the absolute most basic for the rest. As for laptops, mine was about 1500 and still isn't comparable to the latest generation of consoles.
I agree with you that a computer is useful for a lot of other stuff, but a lot of that stuff can and are done on phones and tablets now. You'd be surprised how many people just do not have a personal computer and really only ever touch one for work. I have had SOFTWARE ENGINEERS ask if they could buy or keep their work laptop when they leave the company cause they had gotten used to having a computer.
Along those lines, you are also overestimating the technical literacy of the average person if you think putting together a computer is something that's "easy as shit." Near every day I have to show someone how to do something as basic as make a bookmark or find their S drive or how to use "Save as" versus "Save." So while I know putting a computer together is easier than ever before, I do not think it is something that most people would just be able to do.
All that said, I'm not here to say PC gaming bad or console games are the better way to go. The first of my points is, they are all options; options with various pros and cons that I won't get into here. If someone wants an out-of-the-box experience for not as much money, consoles are there. If they have a little more budget, then pre-built PCs or gaming laptops are an option. And of course, they can try to build one if they want to learn how. My other point is, no matter which option you go with, you should then be able to pick and play whatever game you want on that machine.
hearing "the ps5 is in the latter stage of its lifecycle" and laughing myself sick. NO GAMES
