The other day they had me start crrt for “volume removal” bc the patient who had been approaching needing dialysis kept going into a fib and ended up on levo…. Put him on crrt and he went back into a fib and needed more pressors and I was like hey doc wanna try some fluid he doesn’t look or sound overloaded at all and has normal EF and went into a fib right after starting…. Doctor did bedside ultrasound, ivc super collapsible. Pressure bagged 2 liters of saline, back in sinus, off pressors a few hours later. Unit of blood once his hemoglobin got further diluted and BP was actually high. He’s been off pressors, now off lidocaine, in sinus rhythm and hypertensive now, and is waking up now that he’s off lidocaine and no longer has a BUN of 174…. Before all this they were planning on meeting for goals of care… like????

It's very cute that Mr. Mega thinks his refusal to read our leaks means anything. We'll continue sharing them, and people will continue reading them. But here, for you, Mr. Curt Mega, we have provided the medical report from John's time in the hospital after the ten days of sleeplessness he spoke of. Thank us later!
Mount Sinai Hospital Treatment Report: Johnathan S. MacNamara
Date of Admission: September 9, 2012
Date of Discharge: November 17, 2012
The patient was admitted to the Emergency Room at 6:24 AM, 09/05/12 and evaluated to be in critical condition almost immediately. He exhibited signs of septic shock, including: lung failure, kidney failure, liver failure, a blood pressure of 68/43 mm Hg, and a heart rate of 134 BPM. In addition, he showed signs of infection stemming from an abdominal laceration approximately 30 inches in length and on average approximately 2 inches deep. The exhibited signs included: seizures, a consistent 105° F fever, swelling around the wound, pus in and around the wound, and human fecal matter smeared across the abdominal region. The lattermost sign was not so much a symptom as an obvious cause.
The patient's wounds were immediately cleaned with heavy disinfectants and a tracheostomy was preformed. He was attached to a mechanical ventilator and the blood-oxygen levels slowly stabilized. Patient was admitted to the ICU for further treatment at 7:36 PM, 09/05/12. Injuries upon admission were mapped as follows:
Tumblr media
1. Bullet entry and exit through right deltoid. 2. Large laceration across midsection. Shows signs of heavy bacterial and viral infection. 3. Second-degree burn in the shape of greek letter omega. 4. Electric burns on lower right back. Presumably from high-voltage taser or cattle prod. 5. Intense electric burns in genital and inner-thigh areas. 6. Hamstrings lacerated. Presumably to constrict movement of legs.
Upon admission to the ICU, the patient was administered a standard dose of penicillin. There had been no signs of consciousness since arrival to the hospital, however the patient did appear to be in a survivable state. Within the unit, he was attached to a dialysis machine and given a steady IV of saline solution and another one that contained water-soluble vitamins and nutrients. Once the infection showed no further sign of spreading, the patient was given an emergency liver transplant. This occurred on 09/06/12.
The transplant succeeded, and the liver immediately began to filter blood and further cleared the infection. The decision was made to keep the patient on the dialysis machine until the infection and subsequent sepsis was cleared, and after a partial recovery from the first transplant occurred.
After 57 hours of total unconsciousness and unresponsiveness, the patient was declared to be in a coma caused by toxic-metabolic encephalopathy. He was assumed to wake up within the month.
The tracheostomy ventilator was removed on 09/23/12 and replaced with a laryngoscopic ventilator. This was changed once more on 10/03/12 when it was replaced with a mask ventilator.
The genital burns required a skin graft, but otherwise healed normally without infection or complications.
At 1:58 PM on 10/09/12, the patient began to react to outside stimuli. He moved when touched and made audible responses to pain. Over the next few days, he began to react to auditory and olfactory stimuli in addition to touch-based reactions increasing in consistency. By 10/12/12, the patient could follow simple commands and had managed to open his eyes a few times.
On 10/15/12 at approximately 12:30 AM, the patient awoke in a frenzied state. He attempted to rip out IVs and pulled off the ventilation mask and appeared to be unaware of where he was. It took excessive physical force, but he was eventually restrained and slowly calmed. He fell back asleep soon after, but showed greater signs of healing by that point. The next afternoon, he gave an official record of what happened to him, which provided a more accurate method of how to treat him. He consented to a kidney transplant and went into surgery on 10/18/12.
There were no complications during the surgery, and the donor was the wife of the patient, Rosalind M. Schaffer. She didn't suffer any complications from the donation either.
After the surgery, he was moved from the ICU and into the recovery wing with a private room.
The patient was dosed on standard pain medication over recovery, and showed no infectious flare-ups over recovery. He was monitored for lasting impacts of his wounds or disease, and had gained a noticeable tremor in both his hands. He underwent physical therapy while in the hospital's care, allowing him to regain full motion in his legs and to lessen his hand tremors.
The patient was discharged at 8:14 PM on 11/17/12 with a clean bill of health and prescribed a pain medication for as long as needed. It was also recommended that the patient stop smoking, as his lungs had previously failed once and it could be a major risk factor. The patient obviously did not follow the advice, as he was seen smoking a cigarette the second he left hospital grounds.

I don't usually post personal stuff. I tend to reblog funny or informative posts. I've kept most of my adult life close to my chest on here. Most of you probably know me as "Minnesota guy with a cat who loves TMBG and Turtles."
Tumblr media
Well this last month had been a doozy of a humdinger on crap mountain. A month ago my Mom (68 years old) had a gallstone attack. The stone was blocking her bile duct and causing significant pain.
She went to the ER and they got her into surgery the next day. The doctor was wary of surgery, because my mom had cirrhosis of her liver. I'm pretty sure it was bilirubic cirrhosis, which damages the bile ducts of the liver.
After surgery she had a significant rise in amonia in her system. The liver was not doing it's job. They got her on meds to help her body expel the excess amonia and after a few days in the hospital she was getting better.
She still needed antibiotics and occupational therapy, so she was moved to Transitional Care at a nursing home. She was improving there for two weeks but last weekend she got sick and she was taken back to a local hospital.
They found her amonia level was high again and her liver was not working at all. Also her kidneys were not working and her blood pressure was very low. Doctors tried several medications to help raise her blood pressure. The meds worked but there was no way to safely get her kidneys working again. The Doctors suggested dialysis, but after my Mom's condition worsened, the doctors said that dialysis would be risky and potentially painful. It also would not increase her lifespan significantly or her quality of life.
My mom was not verbally responsive and had a DNR/DNI, so my sisters and I decided that she would not want to be risk the dialysis for a few more hours of time vs rest comfortably until she passed.
On her last day my Mom was aware and communicating due to meds that increased her blood pressure. Her brother, her cousin, several friends, my girlfriend, my sisters and their children came to say goodbye. She also met with a Catholic priest, who talked to her in private and performed the rites to make my Mom officially Catholic (my Dad was Catholic and I was born and raised Catholic). At her request.
After everyone that could make it visited my Mom, the nurse removed the medicine that was raising her blood pressure and turned off the alerts on the monitors. They said she might pass in a few hours, but my mom lasted until 845am the next morning. My girlfriend and I slept on a pull out couch. Not super comfy, but we got some sleep.
After my Mom was confirmed dead we met with a Chaplain who said several prayers over my mom. We said goodbye to her again and allowed the hospital staff to take care of her body.
My Mom was a registered organ donor, so I talked to a representative of the organ donation service. They asked me a lot of personal questions about my mom's medical, medicinal, and sexual history. They warned me about the personal nature of the questions, but I did not get upset. They were only trying to make sure she was not a drug addicted or might have Illnesses that would have prevented them from dontating her body parts to those in need. I found out some of her skin may go to help people with cleft palates or help women with breast cancer have reconstructive surgery. I am glad for the latter, since my Mom was a breast cancer survivor.
Last night was difficult. I miss her so much. I thought she had more time. She thought she had more time. She had so many plans and dreams. She wanted to write books and go to France and visit friends in the South every winter. She wanted to see her grandchildren graduate high school, and get married and have children of their own (if they wanted to do so). Some of these things I can fulfill in memory of her, but many of her stories, and her parents' stories are now lost. I am just thankful for the forty plus years we had together. I love you Mom.

La Famiglia è per Sempre Chapter 1
Summary: David Rossi finds out he might be dying. Afraid of the reality of his situation, he tries to rely on the people around him for support. His new reality makes him question the meaning in his life. Along the way he discovers the truth about family.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~
The Doctors said he was lucky they caught it when they did, considering the common early detection signs and symptoms for his condition hadn't occured. Luck had nothing to really do with it, Emily had been the one to convince him to get tested. First goading him to try and prove her wrong. And when that tactic didn't work, guilt tripping him with full on puppy dog eyes pleading, for her sake and peace of mind.
They told him that he had Polycystic kidney disease (PKD), Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) to be exact. That his condition is a genetic disorder that causes cysts to grow in the kidneys, where they can disrupt functioning.
His high blood pressure had been noted in his charts by his regular physician with the suspected underlying cause of the stress due to a combination of his job and age. Yet unfortunately because of this slight oversight with his hypertension, his condition had progressed to the beginning stages of kidney failure.
Dave knew this immediately spelled desk duty for him. That his time as a field was done and his agent status may soon to have effectively come to an end. He had always assumed he would have retired this time due and work related injury or died a noble death on the job. It pained him knowing this could be the beginning of the end for him and his career.
The doctors with his input immediately came up with a plan of action. They decided to start him on medications and dialysis once a week, hoping that would be sufficient. That within a few weeks they would reevaluate, having a clearer picture and better handle on the needs and limitations of his condition.
With an actual diagnosis and regular treatment plan in place, Dave knew he wouldn't be able to hide it from the team for long. Especially with his treatment starting in two days. He knew he needed to start to get the priorities of his life in order, if he hoped to have any life left to live. His other priority was Joy and his BAU family. Until he had more news he didn't want to worry his daughter with his medical condition. That left the individuals who had already seen him at his worst, the ones who shared his everyday life. The people who he was responsible for, who he wanted to rely on him and be able to always support. Not the other way around, but he knew that may no longer be his decision. He couldn't lie or decide to up and leave them with no explanation. In their line of work they lost too many people and were left with to many regrets. He knew they would never forgive him if he kept this a secret. If he chose to disappear and slowly die on his own without them, out of pride or fear.
David Rossi was a lot of things, but he wasn't stupid, he knew he needed their support if he had any hopes of beating this thing. So he invited them over, for what might be the last team dinner he hosted for awhile. He wanted to have one more meal as a family with some semblance or sense of normalcy, knowing his news could wait until after dessert to be announced.
Everyone had been shocked and rendered momentarily speechless, worried for him upon learning of the life altering news he received. No one expected the nerve wracked Reid to be the first one to find words to fill the silence that had overtaken the room.
With his diagnosis, Spencer informed them all that typically his disease was caught a decade of two earlier and managed through diet, excercise and medication. That it had a fairly decent outcome and life expectancy if he followed the treatment plan.
He spouted off some other statistics most instantly forgot, too distracted by their own thoughts and feelings on the matter. But they still understood the gist of the genius's intended spiel. He was just as worried and distraught as the rest of them, try to make sense of the information they learned. But most of all afraid of the possibility of losing a piece of their family.
Once Reid finished speaking, he couldn't hold off the tears he had been trying to keep at bay. No one in the room was completely dry eyed as they all tried to digest the news. Slowly they all began to ask clarifying questions of the man of the hour about his condition and next steps going forward.
Hours later, Emily had been the last to leave, only showing the depth of her true emotions to him. Dave held onto her a little longer than usual, needing her strength, afraid to let go knowing he couldn't stop whatever came next for him. That this wasn't some nightmare he could simply wake up from.
As their embrace broke, he asked her what made her force him to get tested. He was hoping she would say something profound and wise, that would resonate with in him, and help him make sense of things.
Yet, she simply told him, it was a gut feeling she had, especially with his abnormal headaches as of late. That to her, something about him just seemed off, that he didn't seem himself with his usual laser sharp level of focus and observation. She couldn't explain it beyond that, beside knowing she needed him to be okay.
While her words hadn't provided him the type of clarification he had secretly and niavely hoping for, nor could she fix the predicament he found himself in, what she said provided another form of relief from his pain.
He wasn't surprised she of all people had noticed, Emily was the best profiler he had ever had the pleasure of working with. With her extreme empathy and gut instincts, she had always been the one looking out and supporting others, making sure they were ok. She had always been the first person to notice something was wrong and to begin trying to make it right.
He was just glad to have someone who obviously cared that deeply for his well-being in his life. For her sake and the team's, he wanted to bravely fight until he ran out of options. He hadn't given up against an enemy before, he wasn't about to start now.

My doctor keeps raising and raising and raising my dry weight because I have dizziness after dialysis. I have dizziness no matter what, and I've had it worse and worse every time he raises it.
Doesn't matter. Because that's the most common fix for someone feeling bad after dialysis he keeps doing it.
I'm constantly short of breath now. All the time. He just told me to stop taking my high blood pressure medicine because it dropped one time. The rest of the time it's high.
He is going to kill me but if I don't obey him I can get kicked out of my dialysis clinic and I'll die anyway.
What the hell do I do?
Not to mention he's started me on blood thinners because of clots when I already have internal bleeding and wrote off all my concerns about it. Like if the clots are more of a risk than the bleeding okay, but for fucks sake actually give me information.
Then again this is the genius who thinks tearing open a surgical site with pressure is a great way to check if it's bleeding or not And had no remorse about me having to get another surgery done because he fucked up my previous one.

Hello, I am Mohammed, 25 years old, from Gaza. My story today is about my mother Maha, 61 years old.
After 140 days of the brutal genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, my family and I were able to evacuate to Egypt during the war in late January.
Knowing that my mother was undergoing kidney dialysis in Rafah in the last month due to the lack of clean drinking water and other very difficult factors made her health condition deteriorated significantly.
During the war, I lost my job and my source of livelihood, and we also lost our home, which was directly targeted by missiles, which led to its complete destruction.
Tumblr media
I am the only breadwinner in my family and I am trying my best to cover my mother's health costs.
My mother suffers from heart palpitations, Mediterranean thalassemia, high blood pressure and diabetes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since we arrived in Egypt, my mother has suffered from many health problems, one of which was in August when her blood was tested and it showed that it was 5, which required her to be admitted to the hospital in the intensive care unit.
Tumblr media
We transferred her to the hospital and she had a blood transfusion, unfortunately the body did not respond, and the red blood cells were completely broken down.
Tumblr media
We returned in September on 9/17/2024 to intensive care and we are currently in the hospital for about a month, I do not have insurance and I pay large amounts daily and I have a debt of 130,000 pounds and I must pay it and complete the treatment for my mother
Tumblr media
The daily cost is 10,000 Egyptian pound (200$).
And the treatment may take two or three months
That is $6,000 per month
My goal from this campaign is to obtain an amount of $20,000 to cover the expenses of my mother's treatment in Egypt”
please don’t hesitate to donate even the smallest amount makes a difference.

What Is Nephrology ?
Nephrology is a medical specialty focused on the kidneys and their functions. It deals with diagnosing and treating various kidney diseases and conditions.
What Does a Nephrologist Do?
Diagnosis:
• Evaluate Symptoms: Nephrologists assess patients with kidney-related issues, such as swelling, changes in urination, or high blood pressure.
• Tests: They order and interpret tests like blood tests (to check kidney function), urine tests (to detect abnormalities), imaging studies (like ultrasounds), and sometimes kidney biopsies (to examine tissue).
Treatment:
• Medication: Nephrologists prescribe medications to manage kidney diseases, such as those that control blood pressure or reduce protein in urine.
• Diet and Lifestyle Changes: They recommend dietary modifications (like reducing salt intake) and lifestyle changes (such as increasing physical activity) to help protect kidney health.
Management of Chronic Conditions:
• Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD): Nephrologists monitor patients with CKD, providing ongoing care and adjusting treatment as kidney function changes.
• Complications: They also manage complications that arise from CKD, such as anemia or bone disease.
Dialysis Care:
• Oversee Treatment: For patients with severe kidney failure, nephrologists manage dialysis, a treatment that helps filter waste from the blood.
• Monitor Health: They ensure that patients receive appropriate care during dialysis sessions and address any side effects.
Kidney Transplantation:
• Evaluation: Nephrologists evaluate patients to determine if they are suitable candidates for a kidney transplant.
• Post-Transplant Care: After transplantation, they monitor the patient’s health, manage medications, and watch for signs of organ rejection.
Patient Education:
• Teach About Kidney Health: Nephrologists educate patients on how to maintain kidney health, prevent disease progression, and manage existing conditions.
• Support: They provide resources and support for patients and their families to understand their conditions better.

Kidney Transplants: The Process, Benefits, and Post-Transplant Care
Tumblr media
Kidney transplantation is a life-changing medical procedure for individuals suffering from end-stage renal disease (ESRD). As one of the most common organ transplant procedures worldwide, it offers hope and improved quality of life to those whose kidneys have failed. With the help of some of the best kidney specialists in Surat, we have documented the kidney transplant process, its benefits in this blog, along with the essential post-transplant care that recipients must follow.
Understanding Kidney Transplantation
A kidney transplant involves surgically placing a healthy kidney from a donor into a person whose kidneys no longer function properly. This procedure is typically recommended for patients with ESRD, a condition where the kidneys have lost about 90% of their ability to function normally.
The Kidney Transplant Process
This is how a kidney transplant process looks like:
1. Evaluation and Waitlisting
The journey begins with a comprehensive evaluation from one of the best hospitals in Surat, to determine if a patient is a suitable candidate for transplantation. This involves:
- Medical history review
- Physical examination
- Blood and tissue typing
- Psychological evaluation
If deemed eligible, the patient is placed on a national waiting list for a deceased donor kidney. The waiting time can vary significantly, often lasting several years.
2. Living Donor Option
To reduce waiting times, patients may opt for a living donor transplant. This can be from a family member, friend, or even an altruistic stranger. The best kidney stone specialists in Surat suggest that living donor transplants often have better outcomes due to shorter preservation times and typically healthier donated organs.
3. The Transplant Surgery
When a suitable kidney becomes available, the transplant surgery is performed. This procedure typically takes 3–4 hours and involves:
- Making an incision in the lower abdomen
- Placing the new kidney in the body
- Connecting the kidney’s blood vessels to the recipient’s blood vessels
- Attaching the new kidney’s ureter to the bladder
“Interestingly, the old, non-functioning kidneys are usually left in place unless they’re causing complications.”, share the best kidney specialists in Surat.
4. Immediate Post-Surgery Care
After surgery, the patient is closely monitored in the hospital for several days. This period is crucial for:
- Ensuring the new kidney is functioning properly
- Managing pain and discomfort
- Initiating immunosuppressive medications
- Watching for signs of rejection or infection
Benefits of Kidney Transplantation
Kidney transplantation offers numerous benefits over long-term dialysis:
1. Improved Quality of Life: Transplant recipients often report feeling healthier and more energetic, with fewer dietary and lifestyle restrictions compared to dialysis patients.
2. Longer Life Expectancy: On average, transplant recipients live 10–15 years longer than those who remain on dialysis.
3. Cost-Effectiveness: While the initial costs are high, kidney transplantation is more cost-effective than long-term dialysis.
4. Enhanced Fertility: Many women with kidney failure regain their fertility after a successful transplant.
5. Better Mental Health: Freedom from dialysis and improved physical health often lead to better mental and emotional well-being.
6. Improved Cardiovascular Health: Successful kidney transplantation can lead to better control of blood pressure and reduction in cardiovascular risks.
Post-Transplant Care
The success of a kidney transplant largely depends on careful post-transplant management. Key aspects of post-transplant care include:
1. Immunosuppression Medication
To prevent rejection of the new kidney, recipients must take immunosuppressive drugs for the rest of their lives. This regimen typically includes:
- Tacrolimus or cyclosporine
- Mycophenolate
- Prednisone
Doctors from SIDS Hospital, one of the best hospitals in Surat, strongly advise on adhering strictly to the prescribed medication schedule since it is crucial for the long-term success of the transplant.
2. Regular Medical Check-ups
Frequent follow-up visits are necessary, especially in the first year post-transplant. These visits involve:
- Blood tests to check kidney function and medication levels
- Monitoring for signs of rejection or infection
- Adjusting medications as needed
3. Lifestyle Modifications
Transplant recipients need to make certain lifestyle changes to protect their new kidney:
- Maintaining a healthy diet low in salt and rich in fruits and vegetables
- Regular exercise as advised by the healthcare team
- Avoiding smoking and limiting alcohol consumption
- Protecting against infections through good hygiene practices and avoiding sick individuals
4. Monitoring for Complications
Patients and their caregivers should be vigilant for signs of potential complications, such as:
- Fever, which could indicate infection
- Sudden weight gain or swelling, which might suggest fluid retention
- Changes in urine output
- Pain or tenderness around the transplant site
5. Emotional and Psychological Support
The transplant journey can be emotionally challenging. Many centres offer support groups or counselling services to help recipients cope with the psychological aspects of transplantation.
Conclusion
Kidney transplantation is a remarkable medical achievement that offers a new lease on life for those with end-stage renal disease. The best kidney specialists in Surat share that while the process is complex and the post-transplant care demanding, the benefits in terms of quality of life and longevity are substantial.
As medical science continues to advance, we can expect even better outcomes and possibly new approaches to organ transplantation in the future. For now, the success of kidney transplants stands as a testament to the power of medical innovation and the generosity of organ donors.
For those considering kidney transplantation, whether as a potential recipient or a living donor, it’s crucial to have in-depth discussions with healthcare providers to understand all aspects of the process. With proper care and management, a kidney transplant can truly be a gift of life.

Swanand Kidney Clinic: Leading the Way in Kidney Failure Management
The kidney is arguably the most important target of microvascular damage in diabetes. A substantial proportion of individuals with diabetes will develop kidney disease owing to their disease and/or other co-morbidity, including hypertension and ageing-related nephron loss. The presence and severity of chronic kidney disease (CKD) identify individuals who are at increased risk of adverse health outcomes and premature mortality. Dr. Snehal Shankar Gaikwad is the director, consultant, and  Best Nephrologist in Moshi Pune at Swanand Kidney Clinic, Bhosari, and Imperial Multispeciality Hospital, Chikali. She is a Renal Specialist practising in Pune and PCMC and has 11 years of experience in her field. She did her MBBS from Grant Medical College, Sir JJ Group of Hospitals, Mumbai.

What is kidney failure?
According to the Swanand Kidney Clinic of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), kidney failure occurs when a person has less than 15%. When a person’s kidneys reach the stage where they need dialysis or a kidney transplant, a doctor will diagnose
 end-stage renal disease (ESRD).
Kidney failure can result from genetic conditions or damage to the kidneys. The kidneys perform functions that are essential for the whole body. For this reason, kidney failure can affect a person’s overall health and well-being.
Types of kidney failure:
There are two types of kidney failure: acute and chronic. The sections below will discuss these in more detail.
Acute kidney failure (AKF), otherwise known as acute kidney injury or acute renal failure, comes on suddenly, typically within a few hours or days.
It can result from an infection, trauma to the kidney, or decreased blood flow in the area. It can also occur due to a blockage, such as a kidney stone, or very high blood pressure.
In many cases, treatment will lead to a full recovery. However, it can be life-threatening without prompt medical attention. At least 12% to 15%.
Chronic kidney disease (CKD), also known as chronic renal failure or chronic renal disease, refers to kidney damage that occurs over time.
What stage of kidney disease is kidney failure?
According to the National Kidney Foundation, there are five stages of kidney disease, and kidney failure is stage 5.
Tumblr media
Symptoms of kidney failure:
The signs and symptoms of kidney failure are similar for acute and chronic kidney failure, but how quickly they appear is different.
Acute Kidney Failure symptoms appear suddenly. CKD symptoms develop slowly and typically appear after long-term damage has occurred.
Symptoms of kidney failure include:
swelling of the feet and legs due to fluid retention.
trouble sleeping
muscle cramps
numbness or tingling in the fingers or toes
loss of appetite
metallic taste in the mouth
itchy skin
headache
low urine output
trouble breathing
nausea and vomiting
Our Kidney failure treatment in Pune at Swanand Kidney Clinic, also known as end-stage kidney disease, occurs when the kidneys can no longer adequately remove waste from the blood and control the fluid level in the body. It can happen suddenly or gradually. People with kidney failure need dialysis or a kidney transplant to stay alive.
If you have kidney disease, it does not mean that you will develop kidney failure. One in ten Australians aged 18 and over (approximately 1.7 million people) has at least one sign of chronic kidney disease, and over 26,000 Australians receive dialysis or a kidney transplant for kidney failure.

Comprehensive Guide to Treatment for Kidney Failure: Restoring Renal Function & Health
Tumblr media
What exactly is an acute kidney injury?
An acute kidney disorder(AKI) is defined as a temporary decrease in kidney function that is for less than three months. The condition typically occurs rapidly and is developed by the use of a lot of kidney problem medication, including allopathic ones that may harm the kidneys. Furthermore, due to kidney diseases, problems with the kidneys or injury to the kidneys, patients may choose to continue dialysis for a short period of time to help the healing process of their kidneys.
The natural remedy for long-term kidney disease offers a lasting solution for the individual. For those experiencing sudden kidney injuries, many individuals make a full recovery and continue to live normal lives. Nonetheless, if there's enough harm done, the risk of developing long-term (chronic) kidney problems increases. Consequently, chronic kidney disease treatment can be challenging. However, if a patient receives the right natural remedy right after the first signs of kidney disease appear, they will not encounter any problems.
What is Chronic kidney disease?
If you are facing chronic kidney disorder(CKD), then your kidneys are damaged and are unable to remove blood in a proper manner. The main causes of kidney disorder include high BP as well as diabetes, both of which are important risk factors for developing this condition. The health professional you speak with might perform tests to discover the source of your kidney problem. The type of chronic kidney disease treatment provided to you may differ in relation to the root cause of your kidney disease.
Examinations are the sole method for determining the presence of kidney harm. Should your family's health records show a history of heart conditions, diabetes, or elevated blood pressure, along with kidney ailments, seeking a medical check-up becomes crucial. The sooner Treatment for kidney failure is initiated, the more successful the outcome is likely to be.
Make sure you take care of your kidneys by following these tips
If you are suffering from chronic health problems that could cause CKD, such as diabetes or high blood pressure, and require to be taken care of. Get advice from your doctor and follow the diet and cure for chronic kidney disease.
Smoking: Smoking cigarettes has been linked to a higher risk of developing heart disease, which increases the risk of developing chronic kidney disease (CKD). Heart attacks, as well as strokes, may be the result of this disease. Quitting smoking can aid in your overall health and decrease the chance of contracting serious illnesses.
Be sure to eat healthy foods: Healthy food choices will reduce the risk of developing kidney disease by making sure that your cholesterol levels and BP are within an appropriate range. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables.
Do not smoke or drink: stop drinking and smoking alcohol completely. In addition, you should only take medication as directed by your doctor. Kidney problems caused by increased creatinine can be cured with the high creatinine treatment.
Drink plenty of water:  Healthy consumption of water is crucial for the proper functioning of your kidneys. However, over-hydration can be detrimental.
Regular checkups: Schedule regular appointments with your kidney specialist to check your overall condition as well as your kidney functioning.
Why Is It Important to Get High Creatinine Treatment?
The presence of elevated creatinine levels is often an indication that your kidneys aren't effectively removing waste. If left untreated, high levels of creatinine can cause worsening kidney pain and eventually kidney failure if you seek high creatinine treatment to prevent the progression of kidney disease and keep higher health.

Kidney Transplant: A Lifesaving Treatment for Renal Failure
A kidney transplant is a surgical procedure performed to treat patients with end-stage kidney disease or chronic kidney failure. This condition occurs when the kidneys lose their ability to filter waste from the blood effectively, resulting in dangerous levels of toxins in the body. When kidney function falls below a critical level, dialysis or a kidney transplant becomes necessary to sustain life. A kidney transplant is considered the best long-term solution for many patients, offering the potential for improved quality of life and freedom from dialysis.
How Kidney Transplant Works
A kidney transplant involves replacing a diseased or non-functioning kidney with a healthy one from a donor. The donor can be a living person (such as a family member or friend) or a deceased individual who has chosen to donate their organs. The transplanted kidney takes over the function of the failed kidneys, filtering blood and removing waste products through urine, much like a healthy kidney would.
During the transplant surgery, the new kidney is placed in the lower abdomen, and the blood vessels from the donor kidney are connected to the patient’s blood vessels. The ureter, which carries urine from the kidney to the bladder, is also attached. The patient’s original kidneys are usually left in place unless they pose a specific health risk.
Who Needs a Kidney Transplant?
A kidney transplant is typically recommended for patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). This is the final stage of chronic kidney disease (CKD), in which the kidneys have lost about 90% of their function. Common causes of ESRD include diabetes, high blood pressure, polycystic kidney disease, and glomerulonephritis. While dialysis can help manage the symptoms of kidney failure, it is not a cure, and many patients opt for a transplant to improve their quality of life.
Not everyone with kidney failure is a candidate for a transplant. Factors such as age, overall health, and the presence of other medical conditions play a role in determining eligibility. For example, patients with severe heart disease, infections, or cancer may not be suitable candidates for the procedure.
The Kidney Transplant Process
Before undergoing a kidney transplant, patients must undergo a thorough evaluation to ensure they are medically fit for surgery. This includes blood tests, imaging scans, and consultations with specialists. Patients also need to be matched with a donor, which can take time, especially if a deceased donor is required.
Once a suitable donor is found, the transplant surgery is scheduled. The procedure typically takes 3-4 hours under general anesthesia. After the surgery, patients are closely monitored in the hospital for several days to ensure the new kidney is functioning properly. Most patients can return home within a week.
Life After Kidney Transplant
A successful kidney transplant can significantly improve the patient’s quality of life. They can enjoy more energy, better appetite, and greater independence compared to life on dialysis. However, patients must take immunosuppressant medications for the rest of their lives to prevent the body from rejecting the new kidney. These medications lower the immune system's ability to attack the transplanted organ but can increase the risk of infections.
Regular follow-up appointments are essential to monitor the function of the new kidney and ensure the patient’s health. With proper care, a transplanted kidney from a living donor can last 15-20 years, while one from a deceased donor may last 10-15 years.
Conclusion
A kidney transplant offers hope for patients with end-stage renal disease, providing them with the chance to live a healthier, more active life. Although the process involves risks and lifelong medication, the benefits of freedom from dialysis and improved well-being make kidney transplantation a highly effective treatment option for those suffering from chronic kidney failure.
