I do have unisex names for when I am maohi raerae (think two spirit, mahu, or fakaleiti) or native third gender.

Do you want to read a spoken word poetry anthology book I wrote as an Asian native Pasifika artist who’s a songwriter and spoken word poet? Its called Heart of Fire Dragon Soul of Flame Phoenix and Sea Fairy Ocean Blood.

It’s about being a disabled native (autistic, neurodivergent, chronically ill, & mentally ill disabled), a displaced disconnected state side diaspora, being an Asian Native (as a Vietnamese Kinh, French, Chinese Hoa, & Polynesian Tahitian Indigenous Pasifika person of color), & about being a QTIPOC (queer and trans third gender Indigenous person of color).

I have been working on it for a long time as a storykeeper, language keeper, and culture keeper. I have been working on it for a long time as an artist who’s a poet and songwriter. Since seventh grade of junior high.

Bipoc qtipoc and disabled futurism anthology project:

Im also a writer and creator who writes bipoc, disabled, and qtipoc futurism. I write magical high fantasy and science fiction books, comics, and graphic novels.

My bipoc, disabled, and qtipoc futurism anthology project called Chronicles of War. I have been working on it for a long time. Since freshman year of high school. It is a soft and hard science fiction and magical high fantasy hybrid comic book or graphic novel series.

It is soft and hard Sci fi (bio punk, solar punk, ray punk, nano punk, & cyberpunk) in the near and far future. It is also a magical high fantasy (steampunk, Tesla punk, arcane punk, and dungeon punk) in modern fantasy.

It is a hybrid fusion that is bipoc qtipoc and disabled futurism with bipoc qtipoc and disabled main and supporting characters. It is precontact and post land back.

It’s a futurism anthology or collection of sci fi fantasy stories. That is about several disabled, bipoc (or Black Indigenous and or person of color) characters, and qtipoc (or queer and trans indigenous people of color) main characters.

One is mahu third gender Kana’i Akana/Ataahua Akana an Afro Asian pasifika/Afro Latine Native. He/she/they are a demigod metahuman and alien hybrid superhuman superhero. He/she/they are in a science fiction bio punk, solar punk, ray punk, nano punk, & cyberpunk world in the near and far future.

The other is Kittsak/Kaeo Alin Pramoj an Afro Asian native third gender coded magical human with fae elvish, hobgoblin goblinoid, & giant kin ancestry. He/she/they are a multi class spellcaster, swordfighter, and gunslinger hero and adventurer. He/she/they live in a magical high fantasy steampunk, Tesla punk, arcanepunk/aetherpunk, and dungeon punk modern fantasy world.

Both of them are qtipoc disabled and bipoc. There are other disabled bipoc and or qtipoc main characters in other worlds pre contact and post land back.

Such as a Sami Indigenous and European Scandinavian coded third gender god/goddess Jotunn Loki. Living in the ancient past during the age of the gods.

Such as Lushanya Williams a two spirit third gender Afro Indigenous Chickasaw Native Freedman were lion and were leopard hybrid character. She is living in a town of Afro Indigenous Freedman and hybrid humanoid communities. In a modern and urban fantasy world.

Such as Eloxochitl Hueytletl a female Nahuatl Indigenous woman, Chiaquitinta Mallqui a male Quechua Indigenous man, Piatã Jucá a Tupi or Guarani Indigenous man, Malia Tsethlikai a Zuni Indigenous woman, & Zacal-Noh a female Maya Indigenous woman. They are Central and South American summoners of kaiju or titans based on Nahuatl, Quechua, and Maya and other Central and South Indigenous mythology. It’s a precontact story. As they use the kaiju to fight off the Spanish Empire.

Such as a female Asian Native superhero Zhou, Chen who lives in the near future and far future cyberpunk world and her alternate reality doppelgänger Zhao, Zhen a monk adventurer who lives in a silk punk martial arts world. She is a demigirl, a butch of color, and a lesbian of color. They are connected by minds, hearts, and souls after a traumatic experience as an adventurer and as a superhero. They are both Isekai into each other’s worlds.

Such as a Pirate Captain Meilani Taerea an Asian Pasifika native of color maohi raerae third gender Polynesian and Melanesian Indigenous Pasifika sea pirate living in the bronze, silver, & golden age of piracy in a modern fantasy world.

There are several bipoc qtipoc and or disabled supporting characters.

Such as Afro Asian half dragon (Chromatic European, Celestial Asian, gemstone, & metallic dragon) half human Chun Hei Kim a dragon mage and dragon fighter adventurer.

I hope you don't mind me sharing some resources here because I saw that someone asked about readings/resources regarding challenging the family structure. While it doesn't explicitly deal with that topic, I think Ch. 13 ("The Approaching Obsolescence of Housework: a Working-Class Perspective") of Angela Davis' book Women, Race and Class is an extremely worthwhile read. (The whole book is, to be honest, but please be warned that it deals with heavy topics like slavery and the abuse enslaved Black populations have been subjected to, with some graphic descriptions).

I do think family abolition is closely tied to the de/construction of gender, and I don't have a ton of knowledge about it, but I have found some useful resources in this area, although, unfortunately, they're US-centric.

Following Angela Davis again, Ch. 1 of the same book, "The Legacy of Slavery: Standards for a New Womanhood", is also relevant in that it discusses constructions of family, gender and gendered divisions of labour within a capitalist system, specifically as it relates to enslaved people. Beverley Best's "Wages for Housework Redux: Social Reproduction and the Utopian Dialectic of the Value-form" analyses gender and the division of labour through an explicitly Marxist lens, which falls under a line of theory called Social Reproduction Theory (SRT). I don't think Angela Davis refers to this theory per se, but her writings on the socialisation of household work and gender in general, have materialist underpinnings. If you want some queer perspectives, "The Political Economy of Heteronormativity" by Duc Hien Nguyen is a great starting point (it's a good introduction in to SRT as well).

Ex-director of Hanoi public hospital jailed over gouging of medical equipment price

The former director of a major public hospital in Hanoi has been sentenced to five years in prison for hiking the price of medical equipment that caused financial damage worth VND10 billion (US$440,500) to over 600 patients.

During a trial on Monday, the Hanoi People’s Court handed a five-year jail term to Nguyen Quoc Anh, 63, ex-director of Bach Mai Hospital, for abuse of positions and powers while performing official duties.

For a similar offense, Nguyen Ngoc Hien, former deputy director of Bach Mai Hospital, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison, and Pham Duc Tuan, former chairman of BMS Medical Technology Company, was jailed for 36 months.

However, Tuan was given a suspended sentence.

The remaining five defendants who are former staff of Bach Mai Hospital, BMS Company, and Hanoi Valuation and Financial Services Company (VFS) were also handed jail terms or suspended sentences.

The indictment showed that Bach Mai is a public hospital under the management of the Ministry of Health.

In May 2016, Tuan met Anh to offer the sale of a robotic surgical system named the Rosa Robot.

As the original procedures were complicated, the two sides agreed to enter into a joint venture to install the robotic system at Bach Mai Hospital and let Tuan decide the price for the equipment.

Anh went on to sign a contract with BMS Company without reporting to the health ministry in accordance with regulations.

To legitimize the process, Tuan asked Tran Le Hoang, an employee of VFS, to issue a certificate of appraisal for the Rosa Robot.

Investigators found that the price of the robotic system was inflated to VND39 billion ($1.7 million), while its market price was only VND7.4 billion ($326,000).

Doctors at Bach Mai Hospital have used the robotic system to perform cranial nerve surgeries on 637 patients.

This resulted in financial damage worth more than VND10 billion to the patients as they had to pay much more than they should have for their surgeries.

3/52 "The Magic Fish" by Trung Le Nguyen

A gift from a dear friend, The Magic Fish was definitely a surprise for me. At 256 pages this graphic novel can easily fly by within a day, and it certainly did for me. The story follows Helen/Hien, a Vietnamese immigrant to America and her son Tien, a young boy navigating how best to come out as gay to his family having only openly told a single friend. The book uses fairy tales as a beautiful vehicle to tell it's story. Using two stories that are renditions of the Cinderella fairy tale, one German and the other Vietnamese. And lastly with a retelling of "The Little Mermaid". Tien and Helen have a ritual of reading stories aloud to one another mostly because they enjoy them but also as a way for Helen to practice English. The stories are used to convey parallels and frame past and upcoming events in shockingly impactful ways. A focus is given on how fairy tales change over time. The versions that survive to today could be worlds apart from what it once was. A small note is that one of the stories, "Tam Cam" is pretty grotesque. Many fairy tales are in their original versions, but it still caught me off guard due to the way the tone of the book had been set up. To me, it was a positive shocking effect, but I can see how someone might pick this up as a comfy read and find the effect . . . Less appealing. Those sensitive to depictions of animal harm, cannibalism and light gore be aware. The chosen art style is very simple most of the time, but peaks in gorgeous and extensive detail work that offers a sharp contrast. Even during the sections of the story that are "simple" characters are expressive and unique. It REALLY fits the story being told here. All in all the book itself can be boiled down to a coming out story, but to see it as only that is to turn a blind eye to the many interesting conversations the book offers. The ways we take the ability to communicate for granted, the divides between generations, the bonds we share with those close to us, and what it really means understand and express love are all explored in interesting and emotional ways. All in a book that can be opened and read within a few hours. Really remarkable work has been done here I think, and I look forward to reading more from Nguyen. "Is that really the ending?" "How should I know? It's an old, old story. Details change. Things change. But now this story is ours. Yours and mine."
