I'm gonna rate Charley's adventures with Eight out of 10 stars.
under a cut since it's long, doesn't have spoilers.
-
Storm Warning 10/10
Charley cries when she meets an alien for the first time because the universe is awesome.
-
Sword of Orion 8/10
Great continuation of setting up who Charley is and who Eight is. Both willing to run the hell forward to get their hands covered in blood to help stop the bleeding.
-
Stones of Venice 8/10
would have gotten all ten stars if the writers hadn't chickened out at the very last second. Solidarity or drown, motherfuckers.
-
Minuet in Hell 5/10
Really ableist. Like. It's set in the 80s or something. And there's that much casual ableism that we're supposed to just pretend is normal. WTF. Also I don't think these people have ever met or spoken to an American from the southern states in their lives....
-
Invaders from Mars 0/10
does nothing for the characters or the universe. transmisogyny and ableism galore, though, because Mark Gattiss thinks bigotry is funny.
-
The Chimes of Midnight 10/10
everything. yes. I cried.
-
Seasons of Fear 10/10
so fucking funny. so funny. Eight truly does not give a single shit about the web of time and it's so funny. Hea is setting such a bad example for Charley.
-
Embrace the Darkness 6/10
Loses starts for being ableist and making characters blind only to magically cure them because god forbid disabled people actually exist.
-
The Time of the Daleks 7/10
note that I am taking away a metaphorical star because. time travelling through mirrors? That is the worst idea I have ever heard. please stop that.
-
Neverland 10/10
I need to murder the Doctor's brother. And Romana. And all the Time Lords on Gallifrey who have ever had anything to do with the government. Move the hell out of the way Master, THEY'RE MINE.
Also Doctor I'm gonna kill you.
-
Zagreus 10/10
must. kill. rassilon. I love Charley Pollard. I love the TARDIS. Have I mentioned I hate Rassilon? I hate Rassilon. I love his voice actor though. He is extremely good at his job. Also applause for whoever voice acts the computer. extremely scary. good job. did I mention I love the TARDIS.
-
Scherzo 10/10
I don't have words the sound baby ate them all. I love everything about this. The only thing it would make it better is if a later episode let Charley be mad but nooooo after this it all goes downhill because I gues????? none of these people bothered to listen to Zagreus?????
-
The Creed of the Kromon
0/10 Do not listen to this. It is a hate-crime and I do not say that lightly. I am not being hyperbolic. Do not listen to this. I hope everyone who let this get past the script approval stage dies.
-
The Natural History of Fear 7/10
I love the sound of explosions in the morning. Loses points for not actually mattering to the characters, though.
-
The Twilight Kingdom 5/10
idk I got bored of it like 20 mins in on this re-listen. I don't remember what the plot was. I remember C'rizz pisses me off though. Probably attacks Charley.
-
Faith Stealer 8/10
Miraculite please mine my dreams for crystals I would like some pretty glowy crystals. I love that god. I would die for that god. Loses points for repeated Crimes Against Women by referencing The Creed of the Kromon. I will kill C'rizz with my bare hands.
-
The Last 4/10
Ableist. Could have been great minus the ableism and if, once again, the writer didn't chicken out at the very last moment. I have never wanted to see a nuclear bomb go off so badly in my life. If I could teleport in I would shove Eight out of the way so I could set the fucking nuke off myself. Hea was taking way too fucking long. And then of course there is the chickening out. What, tell me WHAT is the point in setting off a nuclear bomb that destroys your whole planet if no one remembers it? What is the point of that? This story could have been so good. But for no fucking reason the author decided to go "lol and no one remember but the Doctor because uh.....reasons?". coward.
-
Caerdroia 10/10
the scene with the cows is so funny. Though I am of course obligated to ask: why the hell are there cows. Where did those cows come from? Hello??????? anyways Eight is. Hilarious. "I'm so mean and edgy now I don't care hahah1!!! I'm mean now!!!!!!!!" sure you are :)
-
The Next Life 0/10
this audio is literally so brain-numbingly boring I couldn't even pay attention to it the first time. I have literally no idea what the fuck happens because I could not make myself pay attention becaues it was that boring. All I know is that Charley(!??!?!?!?!) and C'rizz are both calling Rassilon (don't ask me why he's there, it doesn't make any fucking sense no matter what stupid justification they probably tried to give) "my lord" and it's like. Did you not listen to Zagreus. Charley will spit in Rassilon's face. She would fucking stab him if given the chance. What the fuck's she doing calling him "my lord"??? I don't know because this audio is such boring shit I literally couldn't pay attention no matter how hard I tried!!!!
-
Terror Firma 9/10
I love this writer. I love how they actually gave C'rizz a personality I don't mind. This is the only audio where I don't want to murder C'rizz with every fiber of my being. It's funny. It's sad as shit. It loses a point for the ableism towards Davros and the misogyny for no reason.
-
Scardey Cat 2/10
so boring I once again have no idea what the plot is because I stopped paying attention because it was boring. I vaguely recall Eight randomly deciding that Actually He Does Care About The Laws Of Time seemingly just so he can yell at C'rizz for breaking them. Ok.
-
Other Lives 0/10
ableist, stupid premise that immediately throws suspension of disbelief out the window, just no.
-
Time Works 3/10
it would have been almost fine............if it were part of the Divergent Universe Arc. as it was clearly meant to be. But then they shoved it all the way down here for some reason?? which makes no sense. Along with the "this was clearly meant to take place earlier" thing the voice acting is just bad for the side characters and the music is.....overwrought? They're trying too hard and it just makes it annoying. The way the side characters are talking is extremely stilted and awkward. Just bad all around.
-
Something Inside 5/10
Eh, nothing bad about it, just not very entertaining.
-
Memory Lane 6/10
Same as Something Inside, kinda boring. Gets an extra star since we get to see Charley's mom again.
-
Absolution 0/10
this. where do I even begin. oh my god. I don't even know where to start. Just. Search my blog for Absolution. It's so horribly written it is, literally, unbelievable.
-
The Girl Who Never Was 4/10
Charley is extremely out of character and there's literally no reason for it at all. The plot does not demand she be out of character. The plot would not change at all if she was in character. It's just. stupid. There are also some plot holes and again. Charley's ridiculously OOC. For no reason. It's really annoying. if Charley were in character it could maybe work, but the premise is also stupid as shit. And it doesn't need to be. Just throw the fucking whole premise out the window. There's no reason they couldn't have just been separated by Normal Eight And Charley Shennanigans. The plot wouldn't even need to change. It's just stupid.
All four stars come from the last line. because holy shit.

Top 10 List

I’ve been doing a huge watch through of many films from the 80′s and I actually just got done watching everything i’ve wanted to watch from the year 1989. Here is my 10 Best. New reviews will be coming soon so be sure to follow to keep up with those. Much appreciated.
Honorable mentions: Field of Dreams, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Casualties of War, Sex Lies and Videotape, Parenthood, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Say Anything, Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Born on the Fourth of July, The Bear, My Left Foot, Roger and Me, Vampire’s Kiss, Fabulous Baker Boys
10. War of the Roses- One of Danny DeVito’s greatest successes as a director and he deserved this one. A dark comedy on divorce, this re-teaming of DeVito with his “Romancing The Stone” and “Jewel of the Nile” co-stars Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner starts out funny but gets viciously savage by the end.
9. When Harry Met Sally- Doing a total 180 from #10, this is simply the best romantic comedy ever made. Nora Ephron’s dialogue is fast, witty, and I never feel more like a mush mouth than when I listen to it. Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan are great together, Ryan especially for reasons that are all too apparent for anyone who’s seen the film
8. The Abyss- Ed Harris and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio are perfect together in what is the real, best, romance that James Cameron has ever created. But more to the point, this is a claustrophobic, tension-filled, underwater delight, the best of its kind by far, holding scenes that put me in rapt awe every time I watch it. The ending is still not great and the aliens don’t really help but this still holds Cameron out as the special talent he is.
7. Crimes and Misdemeanors- A cynical tale from Woody Allen that gets two great performances, not only from himself but from the even better Martin Landau, who gets a whole storyline in examination of morality and is never not compelling in it. Allen gives himself the funnier role. Alan Alda, Jerry Orbach, and Sam Waterston also each have pivotal roles and are phenomenal in what is a flawlessly written, honest look at humanity.
6. Heathers- A great dark comedy, if not the best of all time, which satirizes that weird time known as high school where popularity is key...and can be a real killer. Winona Ryder and Christian Slater are both great in it- a sure fire classic of the High School genre.
5. Lethal Weapon 2 and Back to the Future 2- I put these two together because i’m weak and this was another really outstanding year but they belong together, both really build on the greatness that came before- the plots feel very fresh, the humor in both cases is done with much more ease this time around, the characters continue to grow, and both definitely know how to thrill.
4. Little Mermaid- The start of something grand- leading Disney into the 90’s with a blend of new animation techniques, outstanding music, and some of the best and most urgent story-telling the studio has ever created.
3. Batman- Pound for pound still a wonderfully dark and gritty take on the Batman character- from the production, make-up and costume design Burton has made something beautifully gothic here, despite not proceeding exactly according to lore, and he couldn’t have done better than Nicholson and Keaton in the lead roles.
2. Do The Right Thing- Though hard to find the clear message, Spike Lee creates a pivotal and volatile piece of work that asks good questions in the hopes we can see all the differing viewpoints he presents here. That’s why this is still the best film ever made about race relations in this country.
1.Glory- Powerful from first frame to last, everything about this film is worthy of utmost respect, from a story of pride and sacrifice, to incredible battle sequences (especially the finale march on Fort Wagner, which is one of the bravest things ever captured on film), to the riveting performances, and James Horner and The Harlem Boys Choir’s soaring, patriotic, and beautiful musical score- certainly in the top 5 ever produced. I feel moved and filled with deference every time I watch this story play out and i’ve maybe watched it a hundred times over the years. One of the best war movies of all time.

The ex-Mercenary with the endearing dimples
»»—— Crew Member #5 of Space Pirates ATEEZ ——««
all aboard The Perihelion, welcome to the co-pilot’s log system! here you’ll be able to access the crew’s profiles should you wish to read about their journeys: (no nsfw content)
[CAPTAIN] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]
“if you fall for those dimples, then you’re already half-way in the hunter’s trap”
only a handful of people actually know of his origins, and being a changeling sure comes with a lot of perks for his (previous) field of work
[database file: changelings are nomadic beings, and are able to shift both face and form at will. There are no official records of a changeling’s standard/normal form, and very rarely would anyone get a chance to witness it. Most changelings take on forms of existing beings, depending on the location they’re at and how much they want to blend in, some preferring to add their own artistic flair on appearance]
San’s hair changes almost as quickly as he changes his dagger blades, his current hair of a rich dark brown colour with a turf of silver that never seem to stop shimmering slightly – much like moon light. Which makes his Selenian [database file: moon/silver elves] form all that more convincing
he started his mercenary life on the planet Tundaoria, where all main networks of black markets and underground work are based at
young blood with no last name, a growing reputation – San is an all-round enigma. But he had a talent for tracking, deadly accuracy and disappearing without a trace, hence nobody questioned him other than for getting a job done
he used to work with a small group, ‘Windstriders’, known for their efficient timeframe and clean work. People pay for the quality, majority of the time San worked with others but sometimes he might pick up a few solo missions on the side
earned the nickname ‘Dimples’ from his ex-team mates however whilst he seems harmless on first glance, “the kid? Aye he’s one big sweetheart he is”, he’s learnt to use that highly skewed perception to his advantage
that’s to say he’s managed to coax beings either to bed for a night of pleasure or their deathbeds, talk about deadly charisma
“so on average, what are the chances of someone walking out of your room alive?”
San prides himself with maintaining a level of morality, and won’t kill unless it’s the specific target themselves and/or out of self-defence for any unfortunate souls who decide to intervene with his job. Has nothing against stealing or gambling because, “what’s living without taking a few risks?”
lowkey has a soft spot for younglings and became unexpectedly close to a particular orphanage in a town on the far northern-side of the planet. The head guardian (most orphanages are cared by a guardian or two) found San passed out nearby after a particularly tedious mission and took him in for healing. Since then that place had become an unofficial healer’s spot and safe house
the younglings absolutely adored having him visit, especially when “look, look! The Moon Prince is here!”, bearing gifts such as trinkets, new toys or aleagette pastries [database: assorted savoury or sweet pastry-type snacks that melt in the mouth when eaten, the surprise is that the flavour isn’t known until the first bite]. San would later on start contributing part of his earnings towards the upkeep of the orphanage as a repayment for the guardians’ hospitality (and it’s really for the younglings but he won’t admit that)
every time a youngling treats him to a toothy smile, a wild giggle or when the bolder ones would run up and wrap their petite arms around his legs his fondness grows exponentially. Once, a guardian caught him helping the younglings doodle whatever their hearts desired on themselves so they could match the many permanent silver ink patterns that decorated his arms and back
“already influencing the little ones with your ways, Sannie?” (another nickname that the younglings picked up on and would parrot it back)
“I’ll have you know what we’re doing here is called art”
the one time San was caught off guard was having a past target’s associate track him down to his safe space and carry out a revenge attack – “you took my family away from me and now I’m going to take yours”
San never fully recovered (the invisible wounds at least) for causing innocents to get caught up in the crossfire, for realising too late how attached he’s become to these people and their meaningful presence in his life
as a parting favour, the Windstriders helped San relocate the survivors of the orphanage far away to the much more peaceful city of Aeria (known as ‘City of Healing’ on the planet Cidestea). They said goodbye to a reliable comrade, to his old identity, to his previous lifestyle; mutually promising that contact will only be made again in a dire situation as a last resort – Dimples was off the radar for good
5 years later, after a successful loot haul The Perihelion stopped by Aeria for a re-fuel and mainly because Seonghwa wouldn’t miss an opportunity to stock up on his medicinal herbs (also adopting some new plant children). Hongjoong led his small crew after being directed by a local to “the best tea spot in town” which turned out to be ‘Mosaic Brews’ run by none other than San
now sporting a more turquoise shade of hair and a woodland elven appearance where once silver ink ran along his skin, now a bold black-brown. The younglings who decided to stick by him now have grown too, toughened up by life yet maintained their soft innocence under San’s care for the past years
curiously they stared in awe at Yunho and Mingi, clearly never seeing such giants (to them) before, the older ones enthusiastically brought out the multi-coloured teas for their new guests and the younger ones were spoiled by Seonghwa’s constant cooing. Hongjoong thought San was more than what met his eyes, the seemingly bright shop owner who’s dimples were on full display and heartily conversed with the young captain still had a guarded air around him
it wasn’t until Yunho and Seonghwa gave a few Urousbaines (with captain’s approval of course, one does not just hand out rarities for free) from their loot to the younglings and San’s nonchalant reaction that got Hongjoong’s eyes sparkling
“don’t worry little one, the flower isn’t frozen, here pass me that water bowl.” and the younglings are still convinced till this day that San is some intergalactic prince with magical powers. Because right in front of their eyes the supposedly frozen flower bloomed and the sunlight refracted off its crystal-like petals, casting a spectrum of colours to fill the small shop
“oh how wondrous! How did you know to do that?” (…and San has left the chat)
A LOT of convincing was needed to get San to hear Hongjoong out (by now the crew knew what their captain wants, he gets) and only after tucking the younglings in for the evening in their rooms on the upper level of the shop did the serious talk start
San swore to leave that life behind but he would be kidding himself if he said he didn’t feel a slight tug at his heart for adventure, yet again. It was a tug-of-war between what the head knows vs. what the heart yearns for
“But Sannie how are you going to save the galaxy if you’re stuck here?” came the soft-spoken voice of the youngest and the group nearly had whiplash turning around. The younglings had snuck downstairs and listened in on the convo, knowing it’ll be sad to part with San but even sadder for him to purposely hold back
the younglings won the debate, that they weren’t naïve nor helpless anymore and together they could take care of themselves and the shop – after all they’ve only learnt from the best (San did notify some of the locals whom were trusted regulars of his temporary leave and to keep an eye on the younglings in his stead)
Yunho offered a communication bot to keep in touch so San could check-in whenever he wished, the younglings were fascinated as the Sheirzoi showed them how to work it and a chorus of “oohs” and “ahhs” were heard when they saw the main deck of the ship through the screen. At present, he made sure to check-in at least once every week, all smiles & dimples when he sees the little ones’ faces squeezed into the single screen
San held onto the younglings right up until he boarded The Perihelion, and making sure to wave back until they were right out of sight. He packed simply but made sure to put up some of the drawings the younger ones gifted him up on his room’s walls and the ‘lucky charm’ that got braided into his hair was worn proudly (the older kids had woven a band with colourful beads & crystallised Echetta wings they found in the garden – from the ‘lucky butterfly’)
the crew reminded him of his old team, how they looked out for one another despite not being blood-related but nevertheless a family of sorts. Eventually everyone found out of his changeling abilities after he nearly gave them a heart attack, “SAN! YOU’RE PURPLE…WHY IS YOUR SKIN PURPLE?!”
Hongjoong never dug too deep into San’s past but was very grateful and appreciative of his fighting skills, thus made him in charge of training the others to be able to defend themselves at least. Cue strict combat trainer San to pop out (Yeosang adds a new curse word to his vocab list after every lesson)
they’ve seen his lethal side where he went on a rampage after Seonghwa got shot
Is probably the only one Jongho trusts to trial his new weapons without blowing something or someone up accidentally
argues with the hot-headed Wooyoung frequently that sometimes Seonghwa has to put them in time-out, initially was legit arguments but now it’s more with an affectionate undertone
Hongjoong and Seonghwa nearly gave him ‘the space dad & mum talk’ after, “bloody hell did you get attacked or something?” upon seeing an array of purple-pink marks across San’s neck when he came stumbling back to the ship just near dawn. The faint scent of perfume lingering and tousled hair gave away that much. “At least leave us a message if not we’re sending the precious cargo retrieval brigade next time”
recently adopted a Kiatrafel [database file: small winged feline-like creature that can spit fire], he calls her “my girl” and is in the midst of training it to not mark its territory everywhere (including on people)
“SAN! Your hellcat just pissed on Hongjoong...again and coughed up flames on Yunho’s notes. Captain says if you don’t come within 5 seconds he’s throwing her down the chute”
(moodboard made with love, by @s1ardusk ♡)

If Only// Charlie Weasley X OC
*Audrey's POV*
I am so confused. It was my eleventh birthday and amidst the regular letters I had received that contained birthday cards with 7£, was an acceptance letter to a boarding school called ' Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry'. Now, imagine my shock as I opened this letter telling me that I was (1) a witch and (2) I was just accepted into the most famous school for magic. But you must also imagine the horror that found its way onto my parents facing as they exclaimed that their daughter was a witch and a spawn of the devil himself. You must understand that my family was very religious and saw magic as a demonic force, so when they found out that I was capable of wielding such "demonic power" they threw me out of the house, on my birthday. My only thought was that I was glad I had kept all the money I had received from my cards in my pocket. So, here I am, eleven years old, out on the streets of London, with 35£ on my person. I had no place to go, or so I thought.
I had kept my Hogwarts letter and kept re-reading it, over and over again, until I had it memorized. I also had found the school supply list amusing, yet intriguing. Where was I to find any of these items? Yet I had plenty of time, seeing as my birthday was in January and I had until July 31st to gather all of the required items. I was sitting in a dark alleyway when I saw someone rapidly approaching me. "Hello?" I called out.
"Why hello, child. Why are you sitting out here by yourself?" Asked the person, who I now identified as a man, due to his long, silvery beard.
I didn't understand why, but I felt as if I could trust him, so I told him everything that happened today, and I even included the part about my Hogwarts letter. When I mentioned the letter, his face lit up, but then faded as he then remembered that it was the reason I was on the street.
"Well young lady, I am happy to offer you a place to stay."
"Really? I don't mean to bother or inconvenience you in anyway. Actually, I think it's better if I stay out here, I don't want to be of any trouble sir." Even though I should take up his offer, I knew that I couldn't, because as I explained to the man, I hated to cause anyone any trouble.
"Why, it is no trouble at all Miss Hayle." He said tis with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes.
I felt compelled to smile back at him, but then I remembered his words. "Wait, excuse me sir, but I don't remember telling you my name."
With that his smile widened and he put his arm out and said, "I am the headmaster at Hogwarts, you may call me Professor Dumbledore, would you please reconsider taking up my offer?"
I thought my options through, I could say no and stay on the streets, alone and cold and possibly die, or I could go with him and go to Hogwarts. There was no way of going back to my family, since they hated me, so I looked up at the man and smiled, grabbed his hand and said," Yes."
*********************************************************************************************************************************
For the next 6 months, I was provided with a flat at Hog's Head Inn, courtesy of Professor Dumbledore. When July rolled around, and school was just around the corner, I took out my supply list, which entailed:
First-year students will require:
Uniform Three Sets of Plain Work Robes (Black) One Plain Pointed Hat (Black) for day wear One Pair of Protective Gloves (dragon hide or similar) One Winter Cloak (Black, silver fastenings) Please note that all student's clothes should carry name-tags at all times.
Books The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1 by Miranda Goshawk, A History of Magic by Bathilda Bagshot, Magical Theory by Adalbert Waffling, A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration by Emeric Switch ,One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi by Phyllida Spore, Magical Drafts and Potions by Arsenius Jigger, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander, The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection by Quentin Trimble
Other Equipment 1 Wand, 1 Cauldron (pewter, standard size 2), 1 set of glass or crystal phials, 1 telescope, 1 set of brass scales. Students may also bring an Owl, a Cat or a Toad.
PARENTS ARE REMINDED THAT FIRST YEARS ARE NOT ALLOWED THEIR OWN BROOMSTICKS.
So, during the 6 months I had spent in Hogsmeade, I had wandered around and gotten a feel for the place. I was currently making my bed when an owl arrived at my window with a slip of paper and a key. I walked over to the owl, gave it a bit of the apple I was eating and then took the paper from its talons. It read: I hope you accept my gesture and use this gift to gather what you need to succeed. Gringotts.
And that was al it said. No signature of who wrote this letter, but I had a feeling that it was sent by Dumbledore. I knew that Gringotts was a bank, but I had never been inside of the building. I had a handmade map of Hogsmeade and I grabbed it and began my adventure towards the bank.
Well, it turns out that Dumbledore had made me a band account and had put piles of different colored coins into my vault. I grabbed a handful of the coins, thanked the goblin, and made my way to buy my school supplies for my first year at Hogwarts.
As I searched through Hogsmeade for my supplies, clumsy me tripped over my own two feet.
"Are you alright? Need some help?" I heard a voice say and saw a hand right by my face.
I grabbed the person's hand and as they were pulling me up I was face to face with a boy, cute, I must admit.
"Thank you for that." I said and smiled up at the boy.
"No problem, I'm Charlie, Charlie Weasley. And you are?"
"Well, thanks again Charlie. I'm Audrey."
And that was the start of our beautiful friendship.

My Top-Ten Prediction for SVTFOE Season 4
It's all official, Daron Nefcy announces that not only we will have a new Season with the first episode coming on March 10th, but it will also be the final season for the entire series. Once I read the news about all Star vs. the Forces of Evil coming to an end after Season 4, I felt sad about this, but I wasn't surprised because of how Disney works with their television shows. Despite the Season 3 finale being incredible despite leaving me torn with questionable move from Star's end and so many dark moments, I am still excited for what the final season has to offer. Since there is a confirmed date for Season 4, now its time for me to share my predictions for what I believe might happen in the final season for the show, just as I promised.
Instead of reviewing my predictions for Season 4 in a listed manner as I usually do with my Wrestling Pay-Per-View predictions, I decided to talk about what I believe will happen starting from number 10 up to number 1 using a countdown format. Whatever you might see or hear should all be taken with "a pinch of salt" because they are just my ideas.
10. There will be an episode revolving around Eclipsa’s past
If “Moon the Undaunted” was able to become a full episode during the battle for Mewni, then I am pretty sure that “Eclipsa Queen of Darkness” would be a fantastic opportunity for the creative crew to take advantage of. With a full episode revolving around Queen Eclipsa, the story of when she abandoned her kingdom to marry Globgor and gave birth to Meteora only to become kidnapped and crystallized by the Magic High Commission would make for a fantastic episode that tells its own story. An episode like this would absolutely make sense for all Star vs. fans like me. The best way I can see the episode ending is with the baby swap so we can determine once and for all who Festivia’s parents were before she takes the throne for Mewni at a very young age.
9. Marco’s newest sibling won’t be playing a big role throughout the series
Congratulations to Marco’s parents for welcoming a second child into their family and it looks like our favorite Earthturd will become a big brother for Marco Jr. In a weird way, that one episode from Season 3 gives me memories for when I played with my Legos and named one of my characters Max and Max Jr. knowing those two are actually brothers. To get back on topic, I just don’t see Marco Jr. taking part in any adventures that Marco Diaz will be enduring during his tenure on Mewni. I say this because he will be born on Earth and will spend most of his life being raised by Angie and Raphael and probably Janna or Jackie Lynn Thomas will be spending their time volunteering to babysit the new child. Sorry Marco Jr., maybe if Daron Nefcy decides to create a spin-off show in her future, hopefully you’ll have better luck with that more than you would on Star vs. The Forces of Evil.
8. The Magic High Commission gets their Comeuppance for their actions
After Eclipsa’s trial, this was a prediction that I will most likely have to make coming to the surprise to nobody. After the baby-swap took place, the MHC thought they could easily get away from their fear of having a half-monster take full control of Mewni without having any worries. Boy did Queen Moon’s deal to Eclipsa really blew their ground-breaking secret up upon their faces in a massive way. With Eclipsa taking charge as Queen of Mewni once again, do not be surprised if we find Rhombulus, Omnitraxis, and Hekapoo going missing or becoming one of the prisoners of the Butterfly kingdom. I have to admit, whatever punishments the MHC will suffer, I may become entertained with what Eclipsa has in store for them. Looks like poor old Hekapoo will spend the rest of her days locked inside the dungeon completely barefoot and tickle tortured to her misery.
7. Kelly and Star get into a brief argument/feud over Marco Diaz
We all know what happened when Star and Marco were both alone in the photo booth while it was on the fritz, so there is no need to explain everything from what transpired in Booth Buddies. From what I might be seeing, until Star and Marco’s escapade comes out into the open, Tom will be disappointed in Star leading to their inevitable break-up as Kelly would most likely be massively upset at Marco for his “out of nowhere” kiss to Star, especially when they bonded during their time at Lava Lake Beach. Knowing Kelly and her series of emotional make-up/break-ups with her alleged ex-boyfriend Tad (Kelly’s piece of hair), I can see her being heartbroken over the confession and unleashing her frustrations on Star Butterfly. The break-up with Kelly and Marco will definitely happen, but I could anticipate more hard feelings being made than what I might see during Tom and Star’s break-up. I looks like Star has more things to worry about than just losing the royal wand to Eclipsa and volunteering to release her Monster lover, that’s for sure.
6. Star Butterfly and her family gets “Banished to Peasantry”
The Box of truth captures a lie created by the MHC and places Eclipsa, Queen Moon, Star, and whoever else was involved in Eclipsa’s trial in its massive prison where they will be squashed to death. One desperate moment later, Rhombulus spills the beans and the MHC was ordered to confess about what they did to Eclipsa’s mewman/monster daughter. It turns out that once Eclipsa and Globgor were completely crystallized, the Magic High Commission instigated a baby swap where Meteora was replaced with another child (Festivia) who they believe to come from a peasant family.
I anticipate that once Star and her father finally re-unites with Queen Moon (that is if they are able to find her), they will fall from grace and have to start a new kingdom out of nothing. The best start I can see is where Star, Moon, and River move to an abandoned fallen-apart home in the Forest of Certain Death. Once Eclipsa returned to relevancy, receives the royal wand from Star, and reunites with Globgor and Meteora, I clearly see Eclipsa having full possession of two homes within the Butterfly castle and the Monster Temple. With all this said, I look at Star Butterfly from the previous two or three seasons and I think to myself, “Boy how the mighty have fallen”.
5. The monsters find themselves in full control as citizens of Mewni
Once Eclipsa has taken the throne and set a rule to never imprison monsters, I have a hunch that the Mewman peasants are gonna be in for a long haul on this prediction. With Eclipsa taking charge, the Mewmans are going to suffer the same discrimination and torture they put the monsters through during the first three seasons of this show. It’s not going to get terrible to the point where all the Mewmans will perish from Mewni never to return to their home dimension, but they will get their comeuppance for their actions and become miserable over Eclipsa’s reign with a mixture of monsters taking part of her kingdom. Even though I have every reason to be upset over Star Butterfly’s decision to relinquish the wand, I still have to say the following… Welcome to my world you filthy peasants!!! What else is new?
4. Marco Diaz is actually a member of the Butterfly family
Let’s be honest, Marco Diaz is a type of guy that has really grown on me throughout the Star vs. series. If Marco was able to interfere with Tom’s plan to dance with Star at the Blood Moon Ball via influence from a sailor portrait, able to use what was Star’s wand and obtaining glowing crescent moons on his cheeks by casting only one spell and with Meteora sharing the similarities with Marco by having a mole on the lower-right side on their faces, then it is clear by day that Marco’s parents have got to be mewman. I can say this whole heartedly because I do not see any other humans, besides Janna and Starfan13, stepping foot on to Star’s home turf and enduring all the torture and grief that Marco has went through since the day he met Star Butterfly.
Once the theory of Marco being half-mewman is fully canon, I personally believe that Marco’s mother (Angie) is truly a mewman from the Butterfly heritage. Raphel Diaz doesn’t look to be a mewman because he came from a family from Hispanic descent, so he is human and not likely dragged into this theory. Star is now able to perform wandless magic after relinquishing the wand to Eclipsa, so I can definitely see Marco Diaz having full possession of the royal wand once Eclipsa winds up relinquishing it since Meteora has no need for the wand because of the fact that she is half monster.
3. Marco Diaz turns evil from the Blood Moon Curse
All the hype for Season 4 definitely revolves around the Blood Moon and its curse and I can say this for sure. If Star Butterfly wasn’t able to turn evil in Season 3, Marco is my best bet as the new antagonist for the final season. With all the constant abuse and annoyances, being a victim to Meteora’s rampage, and the emotional pain he endured, especially when suffering two break-ups with Jackie Lynn Thomas and inevitably Kelly, it makes sense for Marco to side with the forces of evil, even if it is fully against his will. According to the heartbreak and joker symbol on Daron Nefcy’s tweet, the best way to approach this theory is where the sky turns blood red and Marco transforms into a dangerous unstoppable force the same size as Meteora’s Mewman/Monster beast form and Star becomes heartbroken that her best friend turns against her just to conquer all of Mewni. If Marco goes corrupted from the Blood Moon curse, the return of the Monster arm might not be needed depending on the story’s narrative, but that is still not out of the equation.
2. Queen Moon faces ultimate death
Since Star vs. The Forces of evil is on its last limbs with Season 4 as the Final Season and Star Butterfly is around a position of power, I can clearly see Star’s own mother getting killed off coming to the season finale. Before the Season Three finale came out, I had my concerns about Queen Moon being killed off then until we discovered what happened in the episode and with the mystery of where she went after her time in the magic realm. With the episode list revealed, it is clear to me that Queen Moon’s time as a chef is not a long-term thing and will return to the Butterfly Castle at any given point. The best way for Queen Moon to face her demise is if there was dark magic involved when battling a forces of evil coming the blood moon curse with Star around and unable to stop the inevitable doom Queen Moon endures. If this theory comes true, it may be sad and depressing, but at least Star was around to say her goodbyes.
1. Star Butterfly “turns down” the role as the new queen of Mewni
That’s right everyone, Star not taking the throne for Mewni is my boldest prediction yet and for good reasons. From the first two seasons, her heart was downright not into becoming a queen, especially when there are episodes where Star goes to therapy or Star having a private conversation with a guidance counselor about her future career. Later on in Season 3, we all learn that Meteora (Miss Heinous as a Mewman/Monster) is the real daughter of Eclipsa and has no relationship to Star. Once we reached the end of Season 3, we saw Star Butterfly willingly relinquish the royal wand over to Eclipsa. Later on, we get Season 4 clips where every Mewman peasant bashing Star from the dungeon over to a scripted play over allowing Eclipsa to rule Mewni with her frozen crystallized Monster husband and for her failed attempt to bring equality to Mewni by uniting monsters and mewmans. Boy did her ultimate goal blew up in her face…
With all these events that happened coming into Season 4, I bet my bottom dollar that the SVTFOE series comes to an end with Star Butterfly not becoming the new queen of Mewni. I say this whole-heartedly because her heart is just not into fulfilling her mother’s footsteps and because of the events involving Meteroa being royally screwed by the MHC because they refused to allow Eclipsa and Globgor to share love with one another let along becoming King and Queen of Mewni and having a half-master hybrid take control of the royal wand. I can see the show ending with an adult Star spending the rest of her days on Earth married to Marco Diaz and having a family of her own. Don’t worry, as long as Eclipsa and Globgor are there to raise Meteora in the best way possible, I’m sure she could become the best queen for all of Mewni. The four days as “Acting Queen” will go down forever as the time where Star reigned supreme on Mewni, but at least she will have a happy ending of her own once Starco becomes canon. Starco fans, go ahead and rejoice… That is all that I wanted to share for today, feel free to comment if you have anything different to say or of you're planning to watch Season 4 of Star vs. The Forces of Evil on the Disney Channel. Season 3 was nice and all, but I'm excited and confident for what Season 4 has to offer and I can see a lot of epic moments so comparable to what you may have seen from Gravity Falls.

Couriers: The Temple Pt 3
The party headed through the door to the next room, stopping immediately upon entering as the floor is a noticeably different tiling pattern and some torches flare to life at either end of the room. Runes along the bottom of the floor read something like "sometimes life leads you on dark paths and all you need to do is see the light” (I forgot to write that one down too ;;). Keyleth stepped forward and the tile he steps on pressed down and shot needles up into his boot. We noticed that all the tiles have little holes for needles. After some deliberation, Nimh chimed in with “well if every other puzzle has required me to be thrown into the darkness, why not this one” and has Styrmir extinguish the torches on the other side, while they extinguished the ones on our side. With the lights out, we could see a pathway of glowing tiles on the floor. Testing them revealed they didn’t shoot needles, so we made our way across to the other side and through the door.
~~~
This doorway led through a broken and twisted metal archway with a dented metal door thrown from its hinges several feet ahead. Across the top of the arch was the partial runic phrase of “when the sunrise cannot be-” before it became too twisted and broken to read. Looking out into the room, there were a series of walls rising almost all the way to the ceiling (with about a 5 or 10 foot gap as some were crumbling and some were busted down entirely). We could see a broken chain hanging from the middle of the ceiling.
Moving through, we split up a bit. Keyleth and Aeron headed towards the broken chain in the center (Keyleth’s ghost sense was going nuts). Nimh and Kaicis headed to the south end of the room. Kaicis and Nimh found a big, long dead worm seemingly made of shadowy chitin that was crumbling from age. There was also a skeleton nearby it. Keyleth and Aeron found a slightly cracked crystal orb at the end of another length of chain that had clearly broken from the dangling piece above. Before we could manage to do anything about any of it, however, we were attacked by strange shadow creatures that moved in and out of the walls.
We all get hit by these shadows except Nimh, and each have our Strength scores drained. We learned to keep away from the walls so they can’t hide and sneak up and escape as easily. Aeron managed to entangle one in the tentacles of Arms of Hadar. Eventually we managed to defeat them all, with honestly minor damage except the Strength reductions. We took a short rest as Keyleth explained the ghosts from before, and that these shadows were the remaining ghosts. He and Kaicis also tried to figure out what the worm monster was, but couldn’t identify it.
After our short rest, our Strength scores fixed themselves, and we moved to the broken chain, where we re-tied the chain on the crystal orb and used it to refract the beam of light at the exit door, which opened.
We found ourselves next in a large open room with 6 lightly glowing pillars surrounding an odd pile of stone and crystal. The refracted light was shining directly into it. As we entered the room a little more, it shifted, and the door behind us closed. The pile of stone and crystal rose to form a humanoid crystal shape wearing stone armor. Then it picked up a stone sword hilt and formed a blade of pure light. Then it attacked.
We fought for a while, dodging its sword and killing these little minion monks of fire that it kept summoning. Nimh stopped a huge charge attack it tried to do. Aeron kept getting knocked on his ass by the pillars sending out pulses of energy. After a while it switched to a more armored form, and we got pretty beat up as it gained extra resistance to damage. It picked Nimh up and threw them across the room at one point. Then Keyleth got downed because he didn’t Disengage before trying to move away. A big ol’ slice from the energy sword, burning a line from shoulder to hip. Not long after that we managed to chip away enough armor to make it fall away and the crystal creature speed up. It threw Kaicis into Kelvayla, knocking them both to the ground. Eventually Aeron managed to take it out with Eldritch Blast, and it crumbled, leaving behind the hilt of its sword, now deactivated.
With the fight done, we finally noticed that the edges of the room were filled with much more chitinous remains like the dead worm out in the previous room, though these were far more broken. Kaicis went to examine the sword hilt, and when he grabbed it he saw a flashback to the time the guardian was created, and how it was the ultimate final test for any pilgrims who came to test themselves and make offerings. Some approached it for combat, others with knowledge and stories of things they’d learned, some with physical offerings of food or treasure. Each was in turn either let in or turned away. The penultimate vision was of a scared monk from the temple, telling the guardian that it needed to protect the temple from anything that entered at all costs. The monk ran past into the final chamber, and the guardian took its post to defend against a sudden onslaught of shadowy monstrosities that made it through the door and surged forward. The final vision was from a much weakened guardian, raising its head after hundreds of years, and seeing a familiar adventuring group enter...then taking up its position to perform its sacred duty.
After a short rest to heal up, as we were all at half health, the party continued through the now open final door. Through another hallway, with a mosaic of proud people and runes reading “welcome to the worthy” we make it to a massive room made out of a crater that was completely covered in volcanic glass as the floor and the ceiling tiled like a star-filled sky. In the center was a huge pillar on top of which was a dais with a watermelon-sized iridescent stone on top. A stone bridge connected it to both sides of the room, while below in the crater was a massive pit of treasure. Kelvayla carefully stepped forward, keeping an eye out for traps and the like, and eventually let the others forward. At the entrance, everyone was able to enter just fine...except Kaicis and Aeron who were met with a slight resistance.
Aeron and Keyleth immediately went into the treasure pit and started filling up the bottomless box and their backpacks. Kaicis went to the dais and found a skeleton, the monk from the vision of the guardian’s past, and she was holding a crystal staff made of the same material as the crystal guardian. In a rotting pack beside her were a few scrolls. Once the pair in the treasures were done filling the box, and partway filling their bags, Kelvayla cautiously removed the gem from the dais.
Everything began to rumble.
Pixelot - The Adventure Continues!
So if you have gotten a chance to play the Pixelot Beta, then you know the game stops just after you defeat the first boss. No longer! I have been hard at work continuing and fleshing out the story in Pixelot! I have added two more recruitable characters and a brand new map with plenty to explore.
Once you defeat the first dungeon, you are transported to a mythical realm and confronted by Astrum, a powerful wizard that has summoned you to the land of Pixelot, to combat a dark power that is sweeping over the land. After defeating the first boss you come into the possession of the Earth Crystal, one of 6 crystals that will be paramount to stopping this darkness. Not only is the crystal important, but it also gives your characters new passive powers such as reducing damage taken, increasing power and even causing your attacks to heal you. Each class has its own new power! As you progress in the game you will collect new crystals and in turn new powers. You can watch the video here: https://youtu.be/1AIgTyPVSmk
Returning home, you get the opportunity to talk to the village elder, who thanks you for all of your help by giving you some very rare silver ore. He urges you to see the Blacksmith Ryan. Upon doing so, you are able to recruit Ryan to join your team. Ryan boasts incredible offensive powers and a number of defensive to boot. This also allows you to have a full four man team! He also comes equipped with some truly stellar items
In addition to recruiting Ryan you can also leave the town of Luma through its southern gate. This leads you to the brand new area, the “Mortal Pass”, a valley riddled with treasure, mercenaries, and dangerous enemies. You will have to watch out for bears with great defenses and eagles that rain lightning upon you. A notable new enemy is the “Mimic”. If you have ever played Golden Sun, or Dungeons and dragons, then you know that a mimic takes the appearance of a treasure chest, but is actually a boss! This enemy has a powerful attack that puts all of your best abilities on cooldown! You can watch the epic battle and the blacksmith in action here: https://youtu.be/CwA-MsFdFYc
The mercenaries present a terrible problem as you try to navigate the Mortal Pass. There are knights with incredible defense, hammer wielding warriors that will stun your team, and axe wielding madmen that attack your whole team at once. Luckily you can recruit a powerful ally to help you combat them! Chase the Gambler! Chase has a unique play style in that his attacks could change each turn! You really have to roll the dice when playing him and you can really come up big! This is also a big deal because it forces you to pick your four favorite of the five characters you have, giving the player a lot of free will.
All this has been a lot but there is still sooooo much more to come! I'm working on the mercenary hideout now and there will be 4 new hirable characters in there! Yes you heard me, 4! I'm also working on re adding the oracle class to the game as a playable character from the beginning! Stay tuned for more updates because I promise you they are coming!
Top Games within each Genre
Platform:
Sonic the Hedgehog
Developer: Sega
Platform: Sega Genesis
Now known today as Sega’s mascot (like Mario is to Nintendo), Sonic is a global icon. The blue, anthropomorphic hedgehog who has the power of extreme speed is on the run, attempting to stop the evil Dr. Robotnik from collecting all seven chaos emeralds as he turns all the animals of the land into evil robot minions along the way. Sonic is the only one who can stop him with his super sonic speed!
Sonic the Hedgehog was just the beginning for Sega’s new mascot. He has been featured in 70+ games and even had all sorts of toys, accessories and even comics made after him.
Role-play:
Final Fantasy IV
Developers: Square, Tose, Sting Entertainment
Platform: Super Nintendo Entertainment System
Cecil Harvey, the captain of the Red Wings of Baron has raided Mysidia to take the Water Crystal. The Red Wings of Baron question their kings order after completing the raid as they disagree with stealing from the Mysidians. The king is angered by their questioning and Cecil has his title as captain taken away. He’s told in order to gain the king’s trust back, he must team up with his childhood friend and adoptive brother, Kain Highwind to venture to the village of Mist. This is just only the beginning for the the two brothers are they begin to uncover what truly happens within the kingdom of Baron.
Action-Adventure:
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Developer: Nintendo
Platform: Super Nintendo Entertainment System
In the midst of the night, a young boy named Link, a citizen of Hyrule, is awakened by a telepathic message from the Princess Zelda, begging for him to come rescue her from the castle’s dungeon as she has been held prisoner. As Link is about to leave on his quest to save Zelda, he finds his Uncle with a sword and shield in his hands. He tells Link not to follow him as he goes to pursue Zelda himself and that it would be dangerous if he followed. Being the hero he is, Link disobeys his Uncle and makes his way to the castle’s dungeon only to find his Uncle gravely wounded, begging Link to save the Princess and run. Though, it’s not all that easy as it sounds...Link must stop Agahnim from re-opening the Dark World and reviving the demon lord, Ganon who will wreak havoc on the land of Hyrule. His only chance of doing so is by obtaining the Master Sword and recovering the Triforce.
As the Legend of Zelda timeline is not exactly chronological and linear and more so “this game is what would happen if _____ occurred!”. A Link to the Past takes place after the 1998 game Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and is meant to be what happens if Link was defeated by Ganon. Pretty neat concept!
Fighting:
Street Fighter II: The World Warrior
Developer: Capcom
Platforms: Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Arcade game
A very straight-forward, 1v1 fighting game. It overshadows its predecessor Street Fighter so much that its often forgotten about. Due to its success at improving the game overall. The visuals were iconic just by themselves, arguably having the best and most recognizable “character select” screen. They had also expanded on having more than just 2 set characters (but technically you could only play one due to the npc playing the other when you were on single player...) and introduced 6 more characters. These characters were different in nationality and in their fighting styles which made it completely unique and added a more fun experience overall (they also had one of the first playable female characters). The creation of a single player tournament also added a completely new feature to the game, having the player face off against 1 of 4 new boss characters to determine their final position in the tournament. It also introduced the combo move system which is now used in many games today.
Street Fighter II: The World Warrior is still seen as one of the most iconic arcade games today as it was so wildly successful. Arguably (but not really), it is the most important game of its genre.
What are your five most popular works? (in descending order)
1. bound by the secrets we share | bellarke, 48k, E, completed 1/25/16
"Clarke, hi," he muttered, his face scrunched up in frustration as he finally managed to release the button, breathing in a large gulp of air.
They had only met a handful of times, twice before the match (both surprise guard inspections), and two more times since then.
She managed to twitch her mouth into a small smile. “You having a hard time breathing, too?”
Bellamy let out a choked laugh. “Yeah.”
Clarke nodded. “I’m nervous.”
Bellamy pulled his lips into a tight line. “It’ll be fine.”
The official stepped out into the hall and told them it was time to begin, Bellamy and Clarke exchanged a wary look. Bellamy held out his hand and Clarke slipped hers into his slightly clammy grasp and she trailed behind him into the room.
my biggest and longest endeavor. it took me a whole year from beginning to end. i struggled through re-writes and lack of inspiration, and i grew tremendously as a writer throughout the process. but it is the thing i am most proud of completing and i am happy that so many people loved it and encouraged me through it.
2. teacher's pet | bellarke, 16k, E, completed 7/14/15
As soon as she arrived at the school, the office pointed her in the direction of her son’s second grade class and she knocked as she pushed open the door.
“Mr. Blake?” She said, pushing into the room. “I’m--”
“Clarke?”
Clarke nearly tripped over the rug. Lex was sitting in the front row of the classroom, just to the right of the teachers desk where sat none other than the illusive Just Bellamy.
“Fuck,” Clarke whispered.
Lex whipped around, gaping at her.
“Oh my god, sorry, baby.” Clarke pleaded with her child.
Bellamy cleared his throat, and Clarke dragged her gaze painfully back to his. No, no, no. Please don’t be my sons teacher. “I’m Mr. Blake.” Oh my god, I fucked my sons teacher.
hahahahaha, this started out as a two-shot and the response was SO intense i ended up turning it into a full blown fic. there were lots of little chapters, snapshots into the story. probaby some of the best smut i’ve ever written. it’s fun, and my wheelhouse, so i enjoyed this one a lot.
3. baggage claim | bellarke, 20k, M, completed 5/25/15
“You look a little young to be a doctor, Mrs. Griffin.” Bellamy joked.
Clarke blushed, “It’s just miss, and yeah, I get that a lot.” She had her arms folded across her chest as she leaned against the door. He had a lean build, messy dark curls (in a good way) and a medley of freckles across the bridge of his nose and cheekbones. He had a funny way of pursing his lips when he smiled that kind of made her weak. It was an understatement to say he was handsome.
He had picked up his suitcase and dragged it behind him out into the hallway.
“Hang on, let me grab yours.”
“Oh, no, I can come--”
“No, no, please, let me.”
Clarke hung back in the doorway and she watched the man stroll back to his own room, disappearing into it for just a short moment. He came back into sight with her own belongings and she let out a deep breath with a smile.
He noticed how her eyes got real bright when she smiled, and he noticed the small gap between her two front teeth and the cute dimple in her chin. And he definitely noticed that she was the perfect height to fit against his own… not that he was… thinking about… that.
“Well, what a fun adventure this has been.” Clarke said, moving the bag just inside the door.
Bellamy nodded in agreement, “It was nice to meet you doc.” He took a small step backwards, smiling, before shoving his hands in his pockets and returning to his room. Once he was back in the quiet of his room, he grabbed a wad of clothing from his bag and headed for the bathroom. He indulged in a quick shower to freshen up before he headed down to the bar, feeling relieved to finally be rid of the stiff suit he’d been stuck in all day.
ah classic airport luggage switchup. this started out as a oneshot, and then i got crazy. it’s hard for me to read back because i think the writing was pretty weak, especially in the beginning. it was one of the first things i ever started writing. but it’s fun and a little silly so.
4. home is where the heart is | bellarke, 30k, M, completed on 9/8/14
“I’d be just fine on the couch.” She stepped closer.
“I’m sure you would, but you’ll probably get a better nights sleep if you sleep in the bed.”
“Why don’t we share?”
Clarke was surprised at the words coming out of her own mouth, only inches from Bellamy, heat radiating between them. “Oh?” Bellamy brought his hand to Clarke’s face, her skin soft under his calloused palm.
Tension dangled between them. She’d be gone tomorrow. What could it hurt. They both needed a release, a comfort, whatever you want to call it.
my very first full blown fic. i am still very proud of this. completing this was not easy, and it was such a learning experience. it’s terrifying to share something you created with the world, and i was so happy about the response and encouragement i got from it. my little southern small town au baby,
5. a kiss is a secret which takes the lips for the ear | bellarke, 1453, G, posted 12/6/14
"What?" Clarke demanded.
"Uh, what, what? What the hell was that?"
Clarke raised an eyebrow, “What was what?” She looked around innocently.
"You just kissed Bellamy!"
"No, I didn’t!" Clarke exclaimed.
"Uh, yeah, you totally did."
Clarke got quiet, “Oh, my god.”
"Yeaaah," Raven tittered.
haha, i think this was a prompt, and probably posted before 12/6 because i was weird about cross posting for awhile. this, i think, got a lot of notes on tumblr. maybe one of my first viral tumblr fics. it was a really cool feeling and i still adore this fic.
What are your five least popular works by kudos? (in ascending order)
1. Stronger in the Contrast | bellarke, 2.2k, T, posted 10/27/16
“That’s a lot of rations.” She’s frowning. “You realize this is a day trip.”
He huffs, tipping his head towards her. “A lot can happen in a day.”
Remember what happened the day Charlotte died. Jumped off a cliff.
Bellamy slams his eyes shut.
All because you told her to slay her demons.
“Bellamy?” Clarke’s voice sounds far away, tugging at his consciousness. He jerks back to attention. “What’s going on with you?”
lol, i hated writing this and i hated how it turned out. bff halloweek fill.
2. Endurance: Mecha | gen/bellarke, 65k, T, completed 7/31/16
[Camera pans over a dense forest that opens out onto a rugged coastline, crystal waters lapping at the sand and zooms in on a man clad in a blue and yellow Hawaiian-print shirt walking along the shore]
Marcus Kane: Right now ten guys and ten girls from all across the country are about to embark on a journey of a lifetime. They will be isolated from their friends and families and put to the test. These twenty kids will see if they have both the ability and the Endurance to overcome obstacles to achieve a goal. As this group of strangers makes their way across the sea, they must mentally prepare themselves to have their courage, strength and stamina tested.
[Camera pans to a boat skimming across rugged water, a lanky boy with disheveled brown hair and a goofy smile leans on the edge of the boat]
this was my absolute favorite project i’ve ever done. i actually wrote it with @clarkescrusade. i am sad it never gained the traction we were hoping for. we even presented it like a tv show and had an interactive blog and everything. oh well, i still do and always will adore this project with all my heart.
3. that you just might | bellarke, 1694, T, posted 12/17/15
“How’ve you been?” Clarke laughs at his attempt to make small talk.
“We live together, Bellamy.”
i think this was for a ss and i copped out and just built on a drabble i had already written. it was fine and cute. nothing revolutionary.
4. Feel The Love In The Room | bellarke, 2k, posted 12/21/15
“Ready for presents?” Bellamy asks, raising an eyebrow.
“I never am.” Clarke smiles at him.
a christmas fill for the bellarke advent calendar i think? it was silly and cute, again, not very revolutionary.
5. a little more touch my body | feyrhys, 5k, abandoned on 8/23/16
In an instantaneous decision Feyre turns her head, capturing Rhys’ lips with her own. He lets out a surprised yelp before relaxing into it. It true fashion, Rhys makes a show of tangling one hand in her hair and settling the other on her hip, tugging her in closer.
The kiss is innocent enough at first, a firm, chaste pressure, though Feyre is certain she can almost taste the whiskey. She can’t help but let out a soft moan when Rhys slips the tips of his fingers beneath the hem of her top, thumb rubbing along the soft skin above her waistband.
Feyre makes another split second decision and slides her tongue along the seam of his lips, and he opens for her eagerly. The noise around them seems to dull, and her ears now roar, blood rushing through her, electricity humming through every vein in her body. Rhys’ hand travels around her midsection, his palm pressing flat against the small of her back.
Rhys’ spins the stool towards her, and Feyre steps in between his legs. He drops the hand from her hair and places it on her hip as well. Her hands grasp at his shirt and she takes another step closer, their bodies flush.
my first real attempt at writing something non-bellarke. it was fun and smutty. i kind of lost interest. but the fandom was small but it was well received!
anyways, thanks annie. that was fun. i can continue to cringe at all my bad writing my afar now. too lazy to tag anyone else. or maybe @yalenayardeen and @ofhobbitsandwomen i guess, if you want.
The Best Spider-Man Comics Set Outside the US
https://ift.tt/2JAfd7N
With Peter Parker off on a European adventure in Far From Home, we look back at his comic-book counterpart's international travels
facebook
twitter
tumblr
Spider-Man: Far From Home sees Marvel’s friendly neighborhood webslinger heading out of his familial home in New York City and visiting locations around Europe. For his latest outing, Tom Holland's Spidey visits Venice, Prague, Berlin, and, for the memorable final battle, London.
Director Jon Watts recently told Den of Geek that the inspiration for Spidey's European adventure came to him during the international press tour for the film's predecessor, Spider-Man: Homecoming. "There was a moment where Tom and I were on a rooftop in Rome, doing some interview. And I looked across and saw a stuntman dressed in a full Spider-Man suit, posing on this tiled rooftop with Rome behind him. And I thought: 'That would be a good movie.'"
In screen terms, Far From Home's Euro trip is quite the departure for Peter Parker – but over 50 years of adventures mean that the comics version, at least, is no stranger to adventures outside the USA. Here are five of his most memorable international adventures…
England
Amazing Spider-Man #95
After being ditched by Gwen, who has traveled to Europe following the death of her father, Peter is sent on assignment to London by the Bugle. Although he initially plans to surprise her, Peter becomes embroiled in a hostage situation when the US Ambassador and his son are abducted by terrorists on the plane.
Springing into action as Spider-Man, Peter defies the orders of Scotland Yard to capture the terrorists, who are hiding behind the clock face of Big Ben, naturally the most convenient hideout in London. Unfortunately, he now can’t reveal to Gwen that he’s here without her becoming suspicious that he’s arrived at the same time as Spider-Man. He’s forced to return home alone – much to Gwen’s sadness, as she wonders why Peter doesn’t care enough to come visit her. Still, they’re young and in love, they’ve got plenty of time together.
France
Amazing Spider-Man #143-144
Following the death of Gwen Stacy, Peter believes he’s seeing her all over the city, so when J. Jonah Jameson tells him and Robbie Robertson to take $1 million of the Bugle’s money in cash (wait, what?) to Paris, it’s no surprise that they jump at the chance and hit the plane.
Jameson has been taken hostage by French villain, The Cyclone! Or – in the original French – Le Cyclone. Spider-Man fights the Cyclone in his Notre Dame cathedral lair (naturally, the most convenient hideout in Paris), and after the villain explains his origin (he made a wind weapon for NATO but the US purchased it for their OWN use, fuelling Cyclone’s anti-American sentiment), Spider-Man defeats him by creating a counter-wind with a giant fan (wait, what?). Victorious, Peter returns home only to find Gwen Stacy alive! But sadly she turns out to be a clone a few issues later. Spoilers.
Scotland
Amazing Spider-Man: Spirits of the Earth
In this grade-A nutso graphic novel, written and fully illustrated by Charles Vess, Peter and MJ go on a second honeymoon to Scotland after a distant, dead relative leaves her estate to MJ - including a home in the Scottish highlands. While there, they learn of a kidnapping attributed to local “faerie folk” until a local woman, Dark Mairi of the Shore, tells them that there’s more to the events than it seems. Peter investigates and finds that it is ghosts, not the faeries.
I must re-iterate that this is a real comic that happened. Anyway, it all goes a bit Scooby Doo, but in the end, the plot is that a disgruntled member of the Hellfire Club (wait, what?) wants to use a giant crystal to destroy the town, but Mary Jane and Dark Mairi of the Shore channel the Earth Mother to cause an earthquake, freeing an imprisoned Spider-Man, who beats up the local landowners leaving the Earth Mother to destroy the crystal.
Again, real comic. Pretty sure MJ still owns a castle by the end of the story. Bring it back, someone.
Peru
Peter Parker: Spider-Man Annual 2001
In a flashback to Peter’s time as a student at Midtown High, we see Peter heading to Peru on a summer vacation to spend three months working for the Red Cross. As your average 16-year-old might.
Abducted by locals after he stops a bus crash, he learns that they are part of a spider cult who worship “the great weaver.” Unfortunately, the snake clan has taken over their temple (this is sounding like a classic Spider-Man story isn’t it?). Luckily, he’s able to defeat the usurpers and gets back to the Red Cross camp where he can spend the rest of those 3 months working as some kind of child slave for them.
In case you’re wondering, this three-month excursion sits in continuity right between Amazing Spider-Man #5 and Amazing Spider-Man #6, so if you read those comics, we recommend you look out for signs that Peter Parker spent three months in Peru. You won’t find any, but it’s fun to look.
Canada
Multiple issues
If you’re an American, there’s a good chance that you find the mere idea of Canada hilarious in a way that baffles the rest of the world. If you’d like to tap that rich comedic seam, Spider-Man once spent not one, not two, but five issues bouncing around Canada in an extremely unusual comic produced by agreement with the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (and other similar organizations).
The series comprises five stories: "Skating on Thin Ice," in which he is accidentally shipped to Winnipeg in a crate of hockey pucks; "Double Trouble," in which the Chameleon disguises himself as a hockey coach; "Hit & Run," in which Ghost Rider (wait, what?) is visiting his Canadian Cousin who, after the superheroes save his life, gives them Blue Jays tickets; "Chaos in Calgary," in which Spider-Man fights the Fightful Four during the Canada Day celebrations and is assisted by local hero, Turbine, a wheelchair-using doctor who rides a solar-powered turbine cycle in her superhero identity; and "Deadball," in which Spider-Man protects a bicycle safety team from an attack by the Green Goblin in the Montreal Olympic stadium.
And if you’re wondering how Spider-Man managed to spend five issues in Canada without bumping into Alpha Flight, well, so are we.
Feel free to let us know if we’ve missed your favorite international Spider-Man story in the comments below…
Manu
Manus are sort of the base model manasaputra—if you’re jaded enough to call a near-perfect enlightened being “base.” Each one acts as a spiritual guide to a particular race, attempting to quietly smooth the path to enlightenment for that species. (Interestingly, the two examples Bestiary 5 gives are humans and basilisks, which makes me wonder what a really one-with-the-universe basilisk would look like. “To turn others to stone…you must be as the stone. Deep, right?”)
Obviously, as lawful good creatures who keep a very light touch on the cosmological steering wheel, most manus are better for role-playing encounters than combat ones. They’re good for dropping subtle riddles, pointing out more fruitful paths of action, and watching over a race’s sacred sites (likely driving away despoilers with aversion).
Of course, enlightenment is a journey…and one race elevating itself over another can have profound consequences, even unintentionally. A manu-guided race’s path to enlightenment might lead to closed borders at a time when PCs need to get to the heart of their lands, pacifism when PCs need to rally the race against a common enemy, evangelism in a realm already torn by religious strife, or any number of other consequences. PCs who are too forceful in pursuing their mission might find a manu taking an interest. And any actions that risk despoiling a race’s ancestral birthplace or that could lead to a genocide will receive a manu’s full wrath.
The creator of the Way of the Willow is being hounded by hobgoblin mercenaries and harpy bounty hunters. A manu believes the Way may be an important step in mankind’s evolution…but for it to spread, it has to survive. The manu quietly and subtly pushes a party of adventurers into the path of the fugitive sage.
Adventurers exploring a machine cyst come across a manu. The manasaputra is fascinated by the clockwork creatures, seeing in them the germs of a new kind of life that may be worth fostering. Charged with eliminating the clockwork menaces, the adventurers must convincingly demonstrate that the constructs have no souls and are a plague upon the surrounding area, or they risk conflict with the curious manu.
Hunted from world to world by medusa fangships, the last lashunta nation makes landfall on Erem. The striking-looking aliens are shepherded by a charismatic guru—actually, a disguised manu willing to risk his own enlightenment to see the lashunta survive.
—Pathfinder Bestiary 5 163
I'm sooo behind on reader mail (Sorry, Scott from Phoenix!) Though I did answer acanofjars’s query re: what I thought about Bestiary 6 back here.
An anonymous reader wrote:
I'm running a campaign with a lot of undead. Got any good adventure seeds for that?
Sure. First thing to do is try searching the “Undead” tag on the Blogger version of this site. (I was a lot less rigorous with my Tumblr tagging early on.) That’s every undead seed I’ve written.
Here’s a fresh freebie: A lot of game worlds explain the abundance of old ruins and the prevalence of the Common tongue on some vast empire—echoing the far-reaching impact of Rome in our own world. But what if that empire was an undead one—not a nightmare realm of slaughter and excess, but a functioning imperial state? Such an empire could have spread far before it was pushed back…and in its wake left garrisons who refuse to lay down their arms, cults of death who romanticize the old ways under the empire, necromantic books and formulae for young wizards and alchemists to stumble upon, pollution in the blood and rivers to foster young sorcerers, haunted bathhouses, undead tax collectors, ossuaries…you get the idea.
(This answer was inspired in part by Ruth Downie’s novels about the Roman medicus Ruso, which I’m currently audiobooking, and Crystal Frasier’s really nice write-up of the Infinite Ossuary in Pathfinder Adventure Path #115: Trail of the Hunted.)
Also, if you have around $40 lying around, the D&D 3.5 book Libris Mortis is definitely a go-to resource, with tons of hooks. (Pathfinder’s undead material is scattered throughout several books, whereas Libris Mortis is a one-stop shop and quite good overall—which explains why it’s held its value—and you can easily adapt it to Pathfinder rules.) And while it’s for a different game system, Dark Ages Vampire wouldn’t be a bad choice either if you run across it in a used book store, just for all the ideas.
Finally, primeval-atom wrote:
You named dropped Anne Carson. Ok. That’s awesome.
Ha! Anytime. In fact, it’s not even the first time I’ve done it. (Looking back, that was a doozy of an entry—one of a connected string of entries exploring the formian race, plus lots of reader feedback and my own rambling. Worth checking out if you’re a newer reader. Especially if you want links to the best essay about Orson Scott Card ever.)
Boomtown: Chapter 8 - The Revolution Starts Now
This is a journal of my adventures at the festival called Boomtown Fair. Everything written here could only happen thanks to the amazing cast and crew that make this festival so special.
I write this from my emergency bunker. It’s been roughly a half a year since the revolution..it’s hard to keep track of time now in the chaos that has ensued. These memories now seem distant but I do my best to recount this tale to the best of my ability.
It had been a long year since the previous Fair and the civil unrest had continued despite the administration's best efforts. I had submitted my report to Boomtown Central Administration following the uprising at the Bang-Hai Palace and had received full Citizenship of the town and rewards for my proven loyalty to the regime. I was sworn to protect both the Comrade and the administration of the town against all threats. And those threats did come as the year progressed….
By the time of the Winter Gathering, Central Administration had announced its new Military Conscription and Work Programs to which I had immediately registered my interest in being one of the first in-line to join up. Meanwhile Bang-Hai Industries had begun work on a new Nuclear Facility in what was to become Sector 6 and as the new year began they rolled out new models of robots and cyborgs onto the streets of Distrikt 5 as part of the Robotika initiative. Trouble seemed to dog the progress of construction though as the masked men carried out a series of sabotage, terrorism and guerrilla tactics.
youtube
It was the thursday morning of the start of the Fair itself and we rose early from our slumber eager to complete our re-location. After a great deal of patience our documents were checked and we were given our citizenship bands for the weekend. After careful deliberation we decided to set up a camp on the edge of Old Town with a good view across Sector 6 and of the nuclear facility itself. From this vantage point we could keep an eye out for any rebel activity but still easily be able to walk into town or shelter in the Psy Forest. In the evening I took my adventuring party on a tour of the town as the excitement grew for the coming days. This was to be a monumental weekend and one of the best Fairs on record, we were sure of it.
I awoke early in the morning to the blazing hot sun bearing down on our camp. I made my way to the highest point in town, the newly constructed Windmill Stage at Whistler’s Green to warm up for the day ahead with Mr. Motivator. Surely the best way to prepare for my upcoming Military Conscription! Following breakfast I walked back down via the viewing point to behold downtown slowly awakening and my gaze fell down on the Palace.
“The Comrade must be protected at all costs” I thought to myself.
I hurried myself back down towards our camp in order to suit up in my new military uniform ready for the afternoon’s training. The rest of the morning was spent impatiently waiting, pacing up and down through the Wild West and Forests before gathering my fellow conscripts who had been watching a performance by Zion Train at the Lion’s Den Temple in Trenchtown.
The four of us marched down through Old Town to the Town Hall itself and made ourselves known to the officers there who were already training groups of recruits. One group were lined up against the back wall as the Sergeant Major barked discouragement at them, a second group were running an assault course whilst a third were letting loose at the targets on the shooting range. Various other military personnel milled about the hall carrying clipboards and supplies. The rest of my party had already slunk back out onto the town hall steps, complaining about the heat that seemed to be blazing out of the building, trying to find a cool breeze to take the edge off the midday sun. Not the best of starts for my hopes of forming a militia unit. After a bit of encouragement I managed to convince Recruit Reefas to come back inside as the others sat on the steps rolling cigarettes. Much to my amusement however as we looked back one of the nearby recruiters had already pounced on them. After a while I finally managed to speak with one of the Recruitment Officers who interviewed me on my suitability for the army and my feelings towards the regime. Suitably impressed by my obvious commitment to the cause we were sent straight for the Elite Training Program bypassing the initial training tests completely.
Myself and Recruit Reefas lined up against the wall in the far corner as gradually more nervous looking troops arrived at our side until we had a full complement waiting. Soon after our final recruit joined us we were approached by a very flirty female Drill Instructor who came and inspected us. She had Reefas bend over, grabbed his ass and whispered something into his ear. We could already tell that this would not be your average recruitment program. The instructor soon has us taking part in various team building exercises which included such activities of being a human dancing pole for the other recruits. During this process we were officially registered under the name “Crossdressing Walrus Squad” There was no turning back now. The instructor then called us all into a team huddle and marched us all as one massive hug into the first of the training rooms.
We were taken through a series of rooms, each with it’s own task and challenge. This ranged from medical examinations, loyalty tests to more physical challenges. A definite Crystal Maze experience designed to turn us into a functioning military unit of elite soldiers. The first room involved a series of “routine” medical exams and questions to check we were all of reasonable health (no transmogrifying Doctors this year).
Into the second room we lined up against a wall as an officer paced up and down asking us a series of questions in regards to the regime and our glorious leader Comrade José. Some of our group seemed to be rather uneducated on the subject and were removed from the group to the other side of the room. “How much do you love our glorious leader?” the officer questioned me.
“MORE THAN ANYTHING, SIR!” I immediately answered.
“More than anything? Good! Good!” he seemed suitably impressed. “Prove it! See that poster of her on the wall? I want you to make love to it!”
I looked up at the poster which had been placed a good distance up the wall.
“Everyone group together and help him reach it. Come on! Go go!” encouraged the officer.
My squad gathered together working as a team to lift me higher up the wall as I proceeded to kiss and hump the poster of Comrade José. Eventually after my aerial lovemaking display the commanding officer was convinced and let the squad lower me back down to the floor. When we were back in position he continued to grill each squad member, weeding out the weaker candidates and removing them to the other side of the room. Those of us that remained were to be The Elite, the chosen ones of the Boomtown Militia. Those that had failed the tests were forced to beg our forgiveness as they got to their knees. It was our call the officer said, would we abandon our former squadmates or accept them back into our unit. The decision seemed to be unanimous as we each let our fallen friends back into the squad, but not to be as equals the officer told us, we were now the masters and they were the slaves. They were to follow our every command and whim for the rest of the Faire. We were then taken into the final test which was to be a physical team exercise. We all stood huddled on a platform as we received our briefing. The floor was lava; touch it for even a moment and you were dead. We were presented with a pile of boxes which contained innocent babies that must be saved by being taken to the other side of the room using the wooden planks and platforms available. Working as a unit we laid the wooden planks from platform to platform until the first of us reached the designated target. Forming a human conveyor belt we each took a platform and carefully passed the precious payload along the line from person to person. By the time the countdown finished both us and the payload were safely across the lava. Another victory for Crossdressing Walrus Squad! Our instructor congratulated us on the completion of our training and took us through the final door to a darkened room full of monitors. A stern female officer wearing dark shades peered at the screens. On the monitors we could see other squads still in training and various other feeds of members of the public and shady looking characters going about their “business”. Every CCTV camera across the city must have linked to this point. Various plans, maps and blueprints were scattered across the desk. One of my squad had shuffled over to the desk whilst everyone had been taking it all.
The Intelligence Officer immediately turned to him and questioned him “What are you doing soldier?! What do you have in your hands?”
“Nothing sir! See! All empty!” He said waving his hands about.
“Good...Good! Now step away from the table and let me have a look at you all.”
Little did we know at the time but we had a traitor in our midst… but this did not dawn on me until it was far too late.
We all lined up in front of the officer as our instructor said her goodbyes and headed off to collect her next group of recruits. The officer in shades inspected our group, she had been monitoring our squad’s progress and was satisfied that we were ready for field work. We had been selected to become agents on behalf of Central Administration's Military Intelligence Department. Each of us were given an assignment each. I was asked to head out into Oldtown to investigate reports of rebel and pirate activity around the area of the Job Centre and the Port. Recruit Reefas was sent asked to go Downtown to Distrikt 5 and seek out my old ally Mutti, the Cyborg Mob Boss. We were all given a passphrase to give once we tracked down our contacts “Do you need a hand mate?” - Once we all had our tasks to complete we were sent back out of the Central Administration into the blinding light of the sun and the squad went its separate ways to carry out our missions.
Storming into Old Town guns blazing was not going to get us the information we needed and was likely to get us killed in the process. We had to take this slow...gather additional intelligence and scout out the surrounding areas before heading further into the port itself. Myself and Recruit Reefas headed out on a scouting patrol up along the edge of Temple Valley and towards Trenchtown. There was a large gathering at the Temple for the Heatwave Showtime and the greatest performers from across the land took to the hallowed stage; Big Narstie, Tippa Irie, General Levy, Demolition Man, Rodney P, Skibbadee, Flow Dan and more.
“MORE FIRE! MORE FIRE!” the crowd chanted….and there was….A great plume of black smoke billowed up into the sky from the other side of town. My comms device lit up, it was my friends who were living at Downtown Boomtique, they had all been evacuated as a fire had broken out past the West Gates. Thankfully no one had been hurt and the fire department were combating the blaze. “More insurgent activity?” I thought. This would be come to be known as The Great Fire of Boomtown. Things were getting dangerous….
Afternoon went into evening as my patrol route took me up past The Windmill at Whistler’s Green where Craig Charles played the sun down with the funk groove sounds. The local mystics and healers danced around as they saw out the day. Everything all seemed to be in order in The Green so I headed back towards our campsite near the edge of town. Once I arrived myself and Recruit Reefas went about our business further securing and fortifying our camp. As we looked out down the valley towards Comrade Jose’s Nuclear Power Facility however we were greeted by another series of explosions and a large crowd gathering outside...we ran down towards the facility but it was already too late...this was a full on uprising and the first of the battles we would lose during this conflict.
youtube
We retreated back to camp and gathered our undercover gear, heading into town to rally at the Town Hall. Sector 6 had fallen to the rebels...we had to make sure we secured the central districts and the only way we could do that was to seek out the traitors and complete our given missions. Knowledge is strength, so we began our investigations. We trawled the streets and venues of the town trying to glean information but were coming up short so I decided it was best to try some reliable contacts. We slipped into the back alleys of Mayfair and sidled up to Mob Boss Charlie Brown’s Speakeasy. If anyone knew what was going on in these streets it would be Charlie. We were greeted by two goons who were minding the door. Sadly it turned out that Charlie was believed to be missing and none of his employees and associates had seen him for a very long time. Was he in hiding? Was he sleeping with the fishes? Saddened and frustrated by our lack of progress we headed back out into the streets. If the underworld doesn’t seem to have any information on current goings on then maybe the long arm of the law did. We called in at the Police station where I flashed my new Military ID at them.
To say the police station was unconventional was an understatement. The cops seemed to be holding a disco and the inmates were dancing their last dance behind bars awaiting their day of judgement. Some would be released but others were to be sent for public execution. Whilst Reefas was eyeing up one of the officers and trying to get himself handcuffed, I took a look at all the information and wanted posters they had up on the walls for us taking in every little detail and lead.
Taking back to the streets and it seemed like the yearly Boomtown Fair was in full swing as revellers danced from venue to venue. The atmosphere was electric and despite the loss of Sector 6 you would never have known anything was wrong. Citizens got on with their evenings and went about their business...but if you looked closely shadowy masked figures lurked in doorways and on the balconies above. We made our downtown towards Distrkt 5 to find Mutti. Reaching his hideout on the main street we found it locked and seemingly empty though.
“If you’re lookin for the Boss you’ve missed him...come back tomorrow.” said a seedy looking cyberpunk leaning against the wall nearby.
“Thanks. We will.” I nodded.
It was getting late and we didn’t seem to be getting much further with our investigations so we decided to pack it in for the night and headed over to the Red Rash Inn. Exotic dancers of every shape and size beckoned us from the windows and the balconies. The Red Rash was the only place in the district that hadn’t replaced their workers with the sexbots that Bang-Hai Industries were churning out. We stood outside for a while taking it all in. It seemed like the Inn was full tonight so we made our way across to my old neighbourhood of Bario Loco to watch Manchester’s fines, Levelz, performing in Poco Loco itself. The usual mayhem of the Levelz crew did not disappoint as our homeboy Skittles surfed out across the crowd in a rubber dingy.
As the night came to an end we headed back uptown through China Town and the Forests to our camp. As we got ready to turn in for the day Sector 6 seemed to have settled down a bit and almost looked back to normal. We would keep an eye on things from our camp here on the hill for now though and report back any and all activity back to Central Administration.
Sleep did not last long as the early morning sun blazed through the tent once more heating it up to an unbearable temperature. I rolled out of my room and scrambled out into the cool breeze as I tried to pull myself together. What I needed was a good breakfast, a walk and a shower. I headed up to the Whistler’s Green windmill for my morning workout session with Mr. Motivator before grabbing some breakfast and heading over to the spa. Ready for the day I gathered my adventuring party at the docks to continue our investigations and popped into the Inconvenience Store for supplies. Inconveniently they were out of everything I was after and I found myself bemused in the middle of the shop with one of the staff feeding me inconveniently raw broccoli. An Inconvenient Times Newspaper poster adorned the wall declaring “CHARLIE BROWN’S GOING DOWN” - Had Charlie finally been put away and jailed by the Boomtown Bobbies? How could this be? Wasn’t Charlie a close personal friend of Comrade José? This all made no sense. Inconveniently however the store was all out of copies of the paper so I would need to find out these answers from another source
We went on with our day patrolling Old Town, making our investigations and questioning the citizens. Our path took us inside Rimski’s Scrapyard which we had passed through on our travels the day before. The staff at the kiosk by the entranceway were now giving out rebel propaganda and flyers including our first major clue for the day.
‘CARNIVAL OF THE CITIZENS THE PEOPLES’ UPRISE’ it stated ‘Sunday 14th at 14:30’ - I picked one up and put it in my wallet so I could take it in to Central Adminstration.
“But we need more…” I thought. “We need to stop all this before it even gets to Sunday….I had best complete my mission and get back to the Town Hall as soon as I can.”
The queue for the Job Centre was nearly round the block so we decided to check back on that lead later. Where else to find find the rebel activity though? Rumor was the pirates and rebels were now fully in league with each other over protests to the import taxes that had been imposed on the port. The previous year I had heard whispers of a secret smuggler's den hidden somewhere near the port itself. I flicked through my town guide book . ‘Pirate Cruises’ stated the page ‘Guaranteed to point you in the right direction.’
“Well if that’s not a clue I don’t know what is.” I said to myself making myself over to the dockside.
The old seadog inside insisted that there were no actual pirates about and it was just a legitimate business.
“Do you need a hand mate?” I said to him, trying out the passphrase but he just turned his head and gave me a weird look and then went on to try to sell me a cruise to the Swamp of Despair.I went on to commiserate with him though and to gain his trust discussing with him how “unfair” I thought the new import taxes were and that I very much wanted to join the uprising against the administration. If only I could find the pirates and their smugglers den I could lend them a hand I told him. The man looked me up and down and then seemingly convinced, sent me in the direction of Jack The Clipper, the barber shop further up the docks.
We approached the well dressed lady at the door to the barbers but she didn’t seem to know anything about any smugglers den or be familiar with the passphrase.
“Have you tried round the back alleyway?” she asked me.
So around the back I went peering through boarded up windows and knocking on doors. I met a couple of shady seeming folk who advised me it was a little early for pirates but if I came back in a short while they tended to emerge from their hovels as it reached mid afternoon. I sat on the docks with my fellow adventuring companions I had arrived in town with and kept an eye on the alleyway as we took in the sunshine. Eventually the waiting paid off after I saw suspicious figure after suspicious figure disappear into the alley.
I slunk back into the alleyway and beheld a Boomtown Military Officer stood at a doorway with a small queue of people lined up. I silently joined the back of the queue keeping my ears open and taking everything in.It turned out the officer had turned his back on the Administration and was now helping the rebels. And he was not the only one. Eventually I got to the front of the queue and managed to speak with the officer properly. In our discussion he inadvertently revealed that there were 2 squads of 4 officers on a 3 hour rotation at the den. This was more serious than we ever could have imagined, traitors were in our midst.
“Well if they can betray us then I can betray them.” I thought to myself.
Finally it was my time and the officer let me into a small cramped room that seemed more like the bowels of a ship than a house of any sort. A woman beckoned me to the table for a chat. A battle of wits and guile insued. Neither of us wanted to give anything away but at the same time wanted to get as much information out of the other as possible. I tried convincing her I wanted to join the resistance but she seemed much harder to convince than the travel agent. Papers and letters littered the wooden table and I tried to casually read them as we talked. The letters all appeared to be addressed to and from Nicholas Boom...But Nicolas Boom was the founder of Boomtown itself and no one had seen him for many years now as he mysteriously vanished. The letters seemed to be organising the rebellion itself and indicated that both the group now residing at Sector 6 and Old Town were involved in it together….and also showed that Nicolas Boom was alive and well and had his hand in everything that was now happening.
“I’m looking for Nicolas Boom.” I said “I hear he might even be the masked man himself.”
A man arose from the darkness who appeared to have been sleeping in the corner. “Nicolas Boom?” he said in a deep and slurred voice “There is no Nicolas here.”
“Then why are these letters addressed to him then? Look!” I said picking up one of the letters “His name is right here!”
“You had best put that letter down if you want to get out of here.” replied the woman. “We don’t know any Nicolas Boom. Now friend...one quick drink and we’ll send you back on your way.”
Out of a box behind me a dishevelled girl popped out babbling nonsense with a wild look in her eyes. The woman introduced the girl as Reggie before she popped back into her box. A toast was poured into a cup for each of us and Reggie popped her head back out the box to get hers. “Cheers!” we said together and downed our drinks in one. The smugglers then pleasantly bid me farewell and sent me back out onto the street seemingly empty handed without any of the letters. I did however remember what I had seen and made my way back to the Town Hall, looking over my shoulder at regular intervals making sure I wasn’t being followed.
I approached an officer on the steps of the Town Hall and gave him all the information I had gathered so far about the Smugglers Den, the traitors, Nicholas Boom, the letters and the flyer for the uprising on Sunday. He was thankful for all the information I had given him but seemed very disappointed I hadn’t managed to get one of the letters. He saluted me for my service and sent me back out into town to try and find some more information that would bring these people to justice.
I changed back into my uniform and took back to the streets before going to pick up some dinner at one of the street stalls that lined the road to Mayfair. I joined the queue for the Tibetan Kitchen where I bumped into no other than our Glorious Leader Comrade José herself! We had been liaising over social media since I had the good luck to meet her the previous year. I told her of how I had joined up with her military forces and my training so far. She told me that I should make it down to her brand new Boomtown Games that were to be held down in our old neighbourhood of Barrio Loco and meet up with her there later.
Later that evening after avoiding a group of rambunctious pirates, meandering explorers, marauding post-apocalyptic tribes, dancing bees, great towering monsters and even having listened to a talk from Arya Stark herself, Maisie Williams (who was an absolute joy) - I made my way downtown for the Games.
Since Comrade José had left the Barrio and moved into the Bang-Hai Palace gangs of vicious gangs and thugs had over-run the neighbourhood. The Games had been put on to try and help direct the gangs energies into something constructive. The winners of the games were to be given the keys to the Barrio and given everything they needed from the regime to live comfortably….the others would be locked away in the Boomtown Jails. The stakes were high but each gang believed they had what it took to win and finally achieve their dreams of a comfortable life.
All 3 gangs battled hard and brought their best to the games. Comrade José stood on the balcony of the brand new apartments that had been built in the Barrio for the winners, overlooking the games and passing judgement on each round. Round after round the Bassliners won, dashing the hopes of The Vamps and the The Bandits. As the final winner was announced there was an uproar and cries of it all being fixed. A large scuffle broke out between the Vamps, Bandits, Bassliners and the Regime escalating rapidly into a full blown uprising. In the confusion Comrade José was whisked to safety as the violence broke out into the streets. The denizens of the Barrio and the audience for the Games had soon turned on the regime and I found myself having to retreat back to a safer point.
I hung round in the dark of the streets of Vamos looking for any sign of our beloved Comrade and the officers but there was no sign of them anywhere. I found myself sitting lost at the Boxing Ring still dressed in my full uniform feeling rather lost. Before I knew it however I found myself face to face with rebel ;eaders and gun to gun with the Reggie, the girl from the smuggler’s den. They questioned me about my activities over the weekend and I queried them right back over their plans. If I was going to be their prisoner then what was the harm? I may have not got the letter I needed from them at the den but it turns out they had been collecting secret documents and plans from Central Administration by sending agents into the Town Hall and through the Training scheme. My mind went back to the Intelligence briefing and monitoring room...the papers on the table...my own squad mates had turned against the regime and taken them right in front of us. They said the plans that had been stolen had been for some kind of super weapon that the regime was trying to construct. In even greater news however it turned out that Reggie was Comrade Jose’s own sister who she had abandoned and tried to have locked up before she was rescued by the rebels. Reggie was now a symbol and a figurehead in the uprising and said she had been abandoned like the Barrio itself. Armed with this new information and two additional passphrases (“Do I know you friend?” And “Do I know you brother?”) Eventually I managed to give them the slip and sprinted away into the night guns blazing in a firefight with the rebel group.
Eventually I made my way back to Central Administration with my information accompanied by my friends from Downtown Boutique who I had met up in the forests along the way, taking the more stealthy route back to uptown. A nurse beckoned me into a doorway down by the Panopticon Monitoring Station on the square for a “routine check up”. I was lead into a small medical room and strapped into a chair before being injected with some kind of serum. The last thing I remember is a series of flashing images projected in front of me and before I knew it I was out on the street again with a renewed strength of loyalty for the Administration and my secrets delivered.
I managed to find my friends again on the street who seemed confused by my disappearance and the medical staffs refusal to let them come see me. Reunited we headed down to Bang-Hai Palace where Comrade José had retreated with her close allies. In the Palace Courtyard the people were celebrating the Fair under the protecting gaze of their benefactors. We all partied deep into the depths of the night, taking ourselves for a drive in the Dodgems, and taking in all the sights and sounds of downtown.
The next morning, after I had gone through my morning ritual of Mr. Motivator, Spa and breakfast, I made my way down to The Town Hall where the crowds were already gathering for the days performances for the Fair. There I began to gather as many people as I could ready to defend the Town Square from the oncoming rebels that we knew were due to arrive that afternoon. Squads of soldiers gathered on the bridges and balconies of the square looking down on the populace. But then from under the gates of Old Town we saw a fleet of great vehicles travelling down the road towards us. The General and his soldiers spilled out onto the steps outside the Hall forming a defensive line against the oncoming attackers. With a loud-hailer he rallied our group of loyalists with our cry. “ONE LEADER! ONE VISION! ONE TRUTH!” we chanted triumphantly at the oncoming attackers. The parade of mad max style vehicles pulled round until they were in front of us in the square. The Masked Men stood on top and a carnival of people spilled into the square behind them. Suddenly a large group of rebels from Kidztown rushed forwards armed with foam guns and cream pies and a great fight broke out as they stormed the Town Hall. The army had no choice but to fall back and regroup behind the doors of the hall. Our third major conflict of the weekend had been lost and we found ourselves retreating deep undercover and trying to keep ourselves hidden in the business of the fair goers. Gradually we were losing ground but still Mayfair and The Palace itself stood strong against the rising rabble.
That afternoon I bided my time waiting for an opportunity to reunite with my comrades. Sitting on the docks by the Wharf I pondered the next move. Entertainment had been organised on the Busker’s Wharf itself but it seemed they were between performances. The stage manager stood on the wharf talking to the crowd and picking people out to interview and have their say. I stood out like a sore thumb in this group of onlookers, wearing my white dress shirt and fedora. Before I knew it I had been picked out of the crowd and was stood in stage giving a speech to everyone. I can barely recall what was said but I nominated the next person as quickly as I could get away with it. So much for keeping a low profile...speeches in front of crowds was not really what I was going for, but at least I could say I had been on stage at the Fair now.
Darkness fell and I snuck my way back into the Town Square. The army was regrouping and the top military officers stood on the balcony of the Central Administration looking out across the crowds, The large projection screens in the square came to life and The General appeared with a message of hope and defiance. As the general completed his message hackers broke into the system and the Masked Man appeared. His fellow Mad Hatters swooped into the square on zip wires and began scaling the side of the central buildings. Windows were smashed, grenades were thrown and the buildings were set alight. Within minutes all of the city centre seemed to be on fire and crowds of rebels cheered them on. Central Administration had fallen.
I retreated back towards Mayfair, one of our last bastions, where I disappeared into the speakeasy to try and see if Charlie Brown had resurfaced or not. Speaking to one of the mobsters inside I found out that Charlie Brown had indeed been sent down and was jailed in some kind of conspiracy power play.
“What on earth is going on in Boomtown?” I wondered. Something was definitely up and people seemed to be pulling strings from behind the curtains...but who? Surely the rumors of the Boominati were just that...rumours?
I made my way down the street to The Park Hotel to go and lie down for a bit and clear my head. The hotel was fairly quiet other than a few people hanging around and booking into rooms. The ongoing sound of swing music eased my mood as I lay on a chaise longue eating mango. A few sips of rum from my flask and I was well in the zone. I guess this was my life now, no regime, no leadership…
Later that evening however I saw my first glance of hope. Whilst making my way through the throng of people outside The Bad Apple Pub I saw a familiar face. Comrade José herself zipped past me running down from Oldtown with one of her personal aides both with [REDACTED] in hand. I tried to see where they were going through the crowd but they seemed to disappear down past the Administration buildings. At least she was safe even if we had lost all but Mayfair and The Palace...but without the rest of the army to protect it surely the palace was next.
I pulled myself together and gathered my sense. It was time to stop drowning my sorrows and rally down at Bang-Hai Palace. But as I headed towards the forest that lay between Old Town and Downtown I saw the explosions….it was too late….in my absence the Palace had already fallen.
I skulked my way back over to the docks and Busker’s Wharf where it appeared a clown was having a very slow and gradual but complete mental breakdown. I was not the only one having a hard day! Eventually even the clown was packing in for the day so I made my way slowly back to camp.
On the way back I found myself stopped for a rest, sat on the deck outside the Mental Asylum...which on retrospect is where I should have taken the poor clown. A girl came and sat down next to me and we regaled each other with our stories from this year’s fair and adventures until it was time to turn in for the night.
It had been an amazing weekend full of highs and adventures. For I may have lost the war but we had fun doing it.
Kami Skill Vol. 1 Ch. 6 - Thief's [Skill]
In exchange for someone sending me cash for some unknown reason, have a new chapter.
I'm awake.
Everything is fuzzy. My head is spinning. I try to breathe in, and I realize something is lodged in my mouth. A gag or something. I breathe in through my nose and exhale deeply, I can see a little more of the situation.
I'm in the dungeon. I'm being forced to lie down with my hands and feet bound. In front of me were the backs of the two self-proclaimed 'warriors' and the figure of Pierina carried on their shoulders--.
I screamed as hard as I could, but the gag made it impossible to speak.
The larger one, the man with Pierina at his side, noticed me. He didn't hesitate to come up to me and chuckle.
"You're going to get eaten by a monster there, brother."
The smaller one points at Pierina with his thumb and laughs.
"We'll make sure this one gets her money's worth."
--Money? No way you're going to sell her to a slaver!
I kept trying to shout as I crawl like a caterpillar, but my legs are tied to something that prevents me from getting any closer.
"Hahaha! This is what you get for setting us up earlier, you little shit!"
I gasp as he kicks me in the face, causing sparks to fly in front of my eyes.
"I had a hard time getting here, man! But, you know, it was quite a relief to receive such high quality merchandise..."
"It's a bit of a kick in the teeth, huh?"
--You're lucky I got hurt, assholes!
I struggle to lash out at them.
"Come on, let's get out of here. It's not safe for us to be on such a deep floor."
"Totally. Why is the meeting place even in the dungeon..."
The two men, large and small, continued to blather on like this as they went off with Pierina in their arms.
They melted into the darkness, and I couldn't even tell which way they went. Their sounds echoed and I couldn't get my bearings.
Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no!
I need to remember what Mr. Diego taught me!
I don't know who and where those guys are dealing with, but if they use the [Transfer Crystal], it's the last thing they do. Even if it's set to go to the 'dungeon entrance' when it's provided by the guild, with a little tweaking, that crystal can fly you to any place you've been.
I heard that it's possible to catch up with them by tracing the magic element, but I'm not a mage and I can't read or track the magic element.
If the slavers who have taken Pierina use the [Transfer Crystal] to escape somewhere far away, there'll be nothing left to find. Pierina will have to live as a slave in some country for the rest of her life!
I struggled and cursed under my breath.
I never thought I'd lose anyone I cared about again, not just Mary, but Pierina, when she was taken from me right in front of my eyes.
--No way!
With one last burst of effort, something connected to my foot snapped, and I rolled with the momentum.
--It snapped?!
Okay, relax, I'm a Thief. Even if my skills are the weakest thing you've ever heard of, even if I'm level 1, I'm still a Thief. I don't care if those sketchy bastards tied me up--
I carefully cut the ropes that bound my hands with the knife I had in my sleeve. As long as my hands are free, I'm good to go. I take the gag off, cut the ropes on both of my feet. and stand up.
--Pierina!
I stepped out of the space where I was restrained.
I paused for a moment then stiffened.
A white fog blankets the area. A temple-like structure is faintly visible. The layout of the dungeon, the level of difficulty, everything is different from the first level. It's an oppressive feeling.
It spreads in front of me like an overwhelming sense of anxiety. The instinctive fear of the unknown, the fear of being without a map or even a path.
I knew that if I took even one step out of this place, I would be immediately 'swallowed by the dungeon'. I couldn't shake the feeling.
Deep breath. Inhale and exhale.
The breath I exhale becomes cloudy white and assimilates with the fog. The breath I exhale from my body dissolves and assimilates with the fog of the dungeon. Yes, I think. Dissolve with it. Assimilate with the dungeon. This thing-- I'm not afraid of it. Don't be afraid.
I breathe in, breathe out.
I think. I've killed so many slimes. Maybe I'm a little higher level.
I'll be able to learn some skills when I reach a higher level.
Yes, skills. I'll have to go to the guild and get a sheet to find out what level I'm at now, but if it's a skill, I'll learn it right here, and I can use it right after I learn it.
--Please, learn a useful skill...!
I imagine my status in my head. It's not just skills that were given to me by the half-god, half-human queen. It's an adventurer's ... skill that 'you can learn new skills' as you level up.
An image of my status sprang up in my brain.
Name: Rana Prata Human: Lv? Thief: Lv? HP: 33 MP: 0 Attack: ? Defense: ? Agility: ? Abilities: Unlock Lv?, Detect Lv?, Tracking Lv?, [NEW] Mapping Lv2 Skill: 【Breathing】 You can breathe in and out.
--Mapping!
I open my eyes wide and hold my hands in front of my chest. A pen of light appears between my fingers and moves my hand to draw a map in the air.
The completed map has holes in some places. This is what it looks like at lower levels. Then the map of light disappears and [enters my head].
--Now it's [Tracking]!
I use the skill I originally learned, [Tracking]. As you advance in level, it will tell you the location of enemy monsters once you've encountered them, but at lower levels,
--Pierina! There you are!
It tells you the location of your lost party members. I compare it to the map in my brain and identify the location.
According to the map, this is the... 10th floor! Pierina is in a small space about 300 metri away from here. Because of the low level of my [detection] skills, I don't know who else is there, but those two men are probably there.
--Just hang on, Pierina!
I took a step, but in that moment.
The sound of flapping wings
"What the hell?!"
Something attacked me from the air. I hurriedly avoided it and then saw what it was, clinging to the ceiling.
"A giant bat... a killer bat!"
They are nasty guys that attack relentlessly from overhead that are hard to dodge - I remember Mr. Diego saying that. The guild's recommended level for defeating them was 5, I believe.
And,
The sound of echoing footsteps and roars.
The monsters were starting to gather.
A group of large hobgoblins, four of them (A to D), are slowly approaching. Beside them is a black wolf, and behind them is a rampaging monkey.
All of them are vicious monsters that can barely be dealt with by a party of four job level 10 people.
They are not a match for a novice adventurer who has just started challenging the dungeon today.
Even so, I look at them. I breathe softly and shallowly.
"...You guys..."
My chest armor has been ripped off, my dagger has been taken away, and I only have two small knives in my hand.
Still I stare at them. I take a deep, deep breath.
Pierina is waiting for me.
"Get out of the way!"
