no but it's genuinely so funny how quickly dani becomes part of the lito/hernando dynamic, and it's not not organic, but it's absolutely deliberate on her side, like she came in, found out they were gay because hernando was sprawled out naked on their bed with just a drape of duvet covering his nether regions, told lito off for making her a beard without her consent only to try and fob her off when she discovered the truth, offers to be his ongoing beard provided she can crash, tells them how much she loves gay porn and then wanders around their house half naked and sleeps in their bed, and hernando is like "well she complimented my ceviche how can we say no?" smash cut to her getting off while they have sex on the balcony

Things that have not been lost on me:

Both my favourite TV show and my favourite movie (which is an adaption of my favourite book) both have graphic, yet gorgeous, queer sex scenes that look like works of art and also have beautifully tender scenes that take place in museums.

Both have a very multicultural cast.

Both have an impeccable soundtrack.

Both are about overcoming odds against an archaic entity based in London.

I have great taste as both were unmitigated global phenomenons (fuck you, Reed, this strike is exactly what you deserve).

Coincidentally, both have a Latino with a Z in their last name who was forced out of the closet by a jealous asshole, but that actually led to the prior getting better career opportunities in their respective public-speaking fields and being able to be public with the men they love.

Both were created by trans/non-binary individuals so maybe let us tell more stories!

Been really busy the past few weeks making work for Pueblo Pride. I'm getting everything ready for my booth and I'm really looking forward to it. Sense8 is one of the best queer television shows I've ever watched and I regularly rewatch it and I enjoy it every time. Leto and Hernando are one of my favorite couples in the series. I will definitely be drawing some of the other couples from the series when I have the time.

YAY MERMAY! How bout something with Lito, Hernando and Dani? Prompt word: Thread. :D

The thread in the needle has gained a soft, sea-green glow. Hernando’s fingers tighten on Lito’s shoulder, excited and nervous.

“That has to be a good sign, doesn’t it?” He looks up at Dani, sat on the sofa across from them. She’s uncharacteristically small today, curled in on herself, bare feet tucked up against her thighs. “That must mean it’s working. Can you feel it working?”

“I don’t know,” she says. Her fingers twine through her hair. “I still don’t know if this is even possible.”

Lito adjusts his grip on the needle—or rather, Capheus, whose hands and skill at sewing he’s borrowing, does—and plunges it with determination back into the fur. “Hernando says his grandmother’s story was always very consistent. I do not know if it had all the details, but—” He shares a look with Hernando.

“We had to at least try,” Hernando agrees, as staunch as ever. He reaches over towards Dani. It takes her a moment to accept the invitation and grasp his hand. “We weren’t going to leave you with a shredded coat. That was unacceptable.”

Dani’s eyes shine in the lamplight with something that looks dangerously like tears. Her hand goes white-knuckle-tight against Hernando’s for an instant, and then she sits back and clears her throat.

“You’ve already done so much for me,” she says, doing a masterful job of keeping her voice even. “I really can’t ask you to—”

“You don’t need to,” Lito says firmly. “We want to.”

There’s a few minutes of quiet as Lito continues sewing. The glow of the thread seems to be suffusing through the soft brown fur, long lines of light soothing over the shreds Joaquin had left behind. Dani surreptitiously wipes her eyes. Hernando watches Lito’s hands anxiously.

“I had no idea you could sew so well, Lito,” Dani says eventually. Lito feels the quiet glow of Capheus’s pride in his mother’s instruction and sends back a note of regret for stealing his credit. “I made friends with one of the costume designers on the set of The Root of All Evil,” he lies. “I always try to pick up extra skills when I can. It’s good for an actor’s resume.”

“That’s our Lito.” Hernando brushes a kiss over his temple. “Always full of surprises.”

Lito feels an unexpected surge of warmth at the word our. Only a few months ago, he would have found the idea of sharing himself—let alone sharing Hernando—unbearably strange. Now, though, with Dani starting to uncurl from her ball of uncertainty, leaning forward, her face bathed in the ever-brighter glow of the thread, with Capheus’s surety in his hands, with the eager and hopeful trust in Hernando’s voice, with Riley and Wolfgang leaning over his shoulder to watch, sitting on the sofa that he and Hernando and Dani picked out together for their apartment, their new place for a new life, nothing could feel more right. He is theirs, and they are his, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

He isn’t sure if he should still be keeping the truth about sensates from them. It feels silly, now that he knows Dani isn’t precisely homo sapiens either. His eyes slide sideways to Hernando. If he’s hiding some strange secret as well, they could go three for three. The odds of that seem extraordinary, but then again, the odds of the three of them finding each other in the first place also seem extraordinary. Maybe their atypicality is exactly why they have found each other: the same tingling sense of camaraderie in otherness that lets queer people see each other, sometimes even before they see themselves. He’ll need to discuss it with the others—he worries for the risk to Hernando and Dani, if they learn the truth—but in this moment, he feels so suddenly and entirely sure that he is home, that this is his family and he wants to know and be known to them in every strange and ugly and complicated facet, that it almost hurts.

Capheus pulls the thread through one last time, cuts the needle free, and deftly ties it off. Lito holds up the coat and both he and Hernando hold their breath. Dani reaches out a single cautious finger and brushes it against the fur.

“Did it work?” Hernando whispers. Dani looks up at him.

“I’ll need to put it on,” she says.

“Come on.”

There isn’t a pool at the apartment, and they’re hours away from the ocean, so the best they can do is to fill the deep bathtub. If this worked, Lito is diving into his savings to take them all to a private beach for a week, where Dani will be able to swim to her heart’s content, but she’d insisted they not go anywhere until they knew whether they’d actually been able to fix it. Lito understands all too well the heartbreak of being in sight of the thing you love most and no longer able to touch it.

The bath seems to take an age to fill. Hernando fidgets. Lito tries not to reopen the seams from how tightly he’s gripping the coat. Dani is perfectly, entirely still, eyes fixed on the water, avoiding the sight of the coat entirely.

Hernando shuts off the faucet and steps back. Lito holds out the coat but Dani still doesn’t move.

“Hey,” Hernando says gently. “If this didn’t work, we’ll try something else. I promise you.”

Dani gives a tiny, abrupt nod. Then she turns decisively and slides her arms into the coat, stepping into the bathtub.

The sea-green glow of the thread suffuses the entire bathroom for a moment, forcing Lito and Hernando to screw their eyes shut.

“Oh, wow,” Lito hears Capheus breathe. He blinks away the stars in his eyes and sees a sleek brown seal draped over the edge of the bathtub. It has long scars running down its back and sides, very like the tears in the coat he had just sewn together, but it is whole and alive it slaps the water with positive glee. Hernando drops to his knees and kisses Dani on her nose.

“I told you it would work!” he says. “Oh, look at you, Dani, you’re beautiful.”

Lito follows him to the floor and brushes a wondering hand over the seal’s fur. Dani tosses her head and nuzzles into his cheek. Lito laughs, the sound explosively loud in the echoing bathroom. He pulls Hernando in for a celebratory kiss, keeping an arm wrapped around Dani to include her in the embrace.

“What a strange family we are,” he says.

Hernando smiles against his mouth. “But what a beautiful one.”
