🍬🌽Pumpkin Drake (candycorn morph)🌽🍬
Happy Halloween, goblinfam! Hope all of you are having a wonderful time 🎃🍂
Some lore:
With their long bodies, stubby legs, and more or less vestigial wings, Pumpkin Drakes are here to claim people's jack o' lanterns as their own!
Domestication and breeding has led to wonderful and curious-looking morphs in this species which are not observed in their wild counterparts. The candycorn morph is a fairly new colouration, but has proven to be extremely popular amongst younger magic users.
Pumpkin Drakes are a rambunctious species. Even in places where there are an abundance of pumpkins, they can often be seen in scuffles with others of their kind for what they consider to be the best pumpkin to nest in for the next few days. Pet Pumpkin Drakes can be housed in pumpkin-shaped receptacles, but it is recommended to give them access to a real pumpkin at least once a month.
When a pumpkin has been obtained, these small dragons will proceed to hollow it out, eating the flesh and seeds in the process (they are omnivores). With jack o' lanterns, the work of emptying out the pumpkin has already been done for them, so it's no wonder more and more wild Pumpkin Drakes have been seen in neighbourhoods during the Halloween season!
Wild Pumpkin Drakes are rarely phased by interaction (when treated with respect), so be sure to be on the look out for one (or more) on your porch, or wherever you have jack o' lanterns! 🎃🐉

A few other wonderful shows I wanted to shoutout for BIPOCtober, with BIPOC creators and/or leads:
A Ninth World Journal: Based on Numenera, a tabletop roleplaying game, and written, produced and performed by David S. Dear (plus guests). Set one billion years in the future… it’s the story of Januae, a man who randomly teleports to strange and dangerous places with no way of controlling it.
@meteorcitypod: In 2008, a freak meteor shower hit Detroit, killing hundreds and displacing thousands. Hundreds of people were quarantined for radiation exposure. 10 years later, Bianca Diaz, a vlogger returns to tell the stories of the dead, the missing, and the remaining citizens of Detroit, now called Meteor City. Shortly after returning, Bianca realizes that Meteor City, New Detroit, and the people left behind are not what they appear to be...
@witcheverpath: An interactive horror anthology podcast. Their current story is Message in a Bottle. A siren misses what was taken from her, but as she swims out to sea, she discovers a bottle that may change the course of her life.
@radio-outcast: A fantasy-western audio drama. When Helix, the Messenger God of Sound, gets yanked from the 1980s and sent to the 1880s by her abusive ex-lover, the God of Time, she must forge unlikely alliances with two humans: Jesse, a cowboy out for revenge, and Charles, a conman running from his past. The three of them embark on a journey across the American West, each with their own goals and secrets waiting to be revealed
@vegapodcast: A Sci-Fi Adventure Podcast!: In a fantasy futuristic world, Vega Rex is employed by her government to kill off the world's worst criminals. She's never met a criminal she couldn't catch...until now. Join Vega as she journeys through a world of bumbling apprentices, powerful technogods, and her biggest challenge yet
@noadventurespod: A fantasy (un)adventure story that follows Sig, the owner of Signature Eats bakery, as he aggressively avoids becoming embroiled in any daring quests or chosen one shenanigans even though the universe really seems to want him to do just that. This is a story about cutting the Hero’s Journey off at the knees to chill with friends. And also baking. This is also a story about baking.
Harlem Queen: A Black historical fiction audio drama based on the life and times of Black, woman, gangster "Numbers Queen" Madame Stephanie St. Clair during the Harlem Renaissance (the story takes place around 1926-32). She fought the "big boys" (Lucky Luciano and Dutch Schultz) and won.
@herebedragonspod: When the body of a previously unknown aquatic creature washes up on shore, four women are called together for the expedition of a lifetime. Tasked by the U.S. Government to find and record evidence of this new breed of sea monster, Harper Bennett, Pippa Cambell, Lt. Commander Adrienne Scarlett and Dr. Natalya Atlas set off into the untamed wilds of The Bermuda Triangle.
@unwellpodcast: A Midwestern Gothic Mystery. Lillian Harper moves to the small town of Mt. Absalom, Ohio, to care for her estranged mother Dorothy after an injury. Living in the town's boarding house which has been run by her family for generations, she discovers conspiracies, ghosts, and a new family in the house's strange assortment of residents.
Fan Wars: The Empire Claps Back: A not-so-romantic comedy about two star wars fans on opposite sides of the Last Jedi debate.

Ink and Intrigue Writing Update:
Progress is happening! I've completed a first pass of edits for chapters seven and eight of Ink and Intrigue. Now I'm working on chapter nine, which is the last chapter in the game!
Current word counts rounded to nearest hundred:
Ch 1: 16400 Ch 2: 26100 Ch 3: 45700 Ch 4: 20200 Ch 5: 24000 Ch 6: 29400 Ch 7: 30000 Ch 8: 11800 Ch 9: 1300 (in progress)
As you can see, there’s quite a bit of variation to chapter length. I’d originally planned for eight chapters, but decided for two shorter end chapters. Total word count so far is ~ 182,000. It’s possible that the game comes in under 200k, which was my goal as I set out on this, but more probable that I’ll end up adding words in revisions and beta testing.
200k-ish is the sweet spot I’m aiming to hit for word count. I know some CS games get super long and I have absolute respect for authors who can pull that off. Seriously. Amazing stuff!
But keeping my games closer to 200k means I can write more stories. And I have a lot of stories. 🤣
So, what's next? Well, I still need to write chapter nine, do multiple rounds of revisions, beta testing, and a read-through before and after it goes to the copy editor. All that takes time, and each of the editors that work on the project need time to read through and deliver their notes, so we’re still a ways off but getting closer!
Thanks to everyone who has played the three-chapter demo of Ink and Intrigue on dashingdon! (18+)
I can't wait to share the full game with you when it's ready!

Happy Lunar New Year, fellow goblins!
Today (10th February) officially marks the first day in accordance with the lunar calendar. This year belongs to the Wood Dragon. 🪵🌳🐉 💖
Those born under the only mythical animal zodiac sign are said to be charismatic, intelligent, confident, and ambitious. They are natural born leaders who are innately lucky and gifted, but may become arrogant due to their skills. This can lead to setbacks and failures if they are not careful.
Wood Dragons in particular are characterised for being full of energy, passion and dedication. They have dreams of changing the world and are good at coming up with innovative ideas and implementing them.
Wishing all of us the very best year to come, and may the Wood Dragon bring us lots of happiness and positive change in these turbulent times. 💖

Dragon Dust: Part 2
Please remember that my A03 is locked, due to AI scrapping. I have unlocked this one briefly, but will be locking it back down after a few days. Making an account is the best way to see what I am writing.
Summary: Escaping a dragon isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
Warnings: Alternate Universe - Dragons; Alternate Universe - Soulmates; Alternate Universe - Fantasy; here be dragons; Caroline is a Thief; They Will Probably Argue About That at some point
The first time Caroline met Enzo, she’d thought he was crazy. Nearly five decades of friendship between them and more high risk jobs than she cared to think back on to count, and she still thought he was crazy. But somewhere in all the long years of their friendship, he had turned her into a crazy person too. It was the only explanation she could find for why she was playing chase with the King of Dragons in his booby trapped castle.
Flinging herself down another empty hallway, Caroline’s gaze darted around as she tried to find a door, a pathway, anything to keep increasing the distance between her and the sheer force of the dragon behind her. There had been something in his gaze, hot and covetous and wildly dangerous to her equilibrium, that she could not allow herself to think about.
Not when Klaus roar had shaken the walls of the castle, when outside she could hear bells clanging in a jarring pattern that left her teeth grinding in frustration. Alarms that echoed in her chest as sharply as the feel of him, warm and naked and sleek beneath her hands lingered against her palm in a soft warmth. Shaking off those thoughts, she tried to focus. Enzo was counting on her. That meant she had to survive, had to find a way out of this trap. A feat made nearly impossible by the way she could feel the castle walls buzzing, an angry beehive that had been unexpectedly kicked, and while she wasn’t a quitter, she also wasn’t stupid.
Hide, hide, she needed to hide. Running into a storm barefoot and without a cloak wasn’t smart, but it was better than the dungeons and it would give her a fighting chance. So she needed an exit. Dragons were their own kind of awful, their magic had teeth, but storms like the one raging outside might give her smaller body just enough of an advantage she could slip their net.
To make that work, she needed space. Her best choice was to keep running until she found an exit. It was unfortunately not an uncommon solution to some of her more brazen thefts. If she made it out of this castle alive, Enzo was going to owe her so big.
Around her, the alarms increased in pitch. Bare feet slapping on the stone floor, Caroline barely registered the rooms she bolted through, trying not to think what it meant that no one had stopped her just yet. Cursing when she turned a corner and found yet another set of stairs, her heart skipped a beat when above her, not nearly far enough away, the sound of shattering stone told her the lock had finally broken.
The Dragon King was loose.
Around her, the air started to boil.
Caroline didn’t give herself enough mental room to panic. Her world narrowed to obstacle, and the fastest way past the obstacle. Her mental lists and plans were discarded as soon as she thought of them. There was no way she was going to run down the stairs faster than a dragon, even a naked one. Throwing a prayer to the god of thieves, Caroline shoved her hand into her last hidden pocket and gripped a charm tightly between her fingers and launched herself at the banister. She bounced, almost missed it, but caught herself at the last second. To her left, a gaping chasm of multiple stories of free space loomed, and to her right, roughly hued stone.
Her heart jumped into her throat as she slid down the rough stone. If she’d had even an ounce of magic left, she could have guided the stone, directed herself on the stone at less suicidal speeds, but she didn’t. She couldn’t. The walls around her rushed by, and she heard shouts of surprise, the alarms ringing in her ears increasing in volume. She had one shot at surviving this.
Gripping Enzo’s charm tightly between her fingers, Caroline stared at the oncoming floor and tried not to panic. God, the things she did for her family. Setting her teeth, she tried to anticipate the timing for the bone jarring jump as she neared the bottom. In her hand, the spell started to burn.
Behind her, a roar that threatened to shake the walls apart. Adrenaline flooded her as she launched, and she had half a heartbeat to hope she wasn’t turning herself into a flying, bite sized snack. Around her the air seemed to gather itself, magic thick enough to breath as she reached for the spell locked in the charm. Before she could force the magic free, there was a sudden, violent impression of wings and claws, a deep-chested snarl, and the world warped.
Magic. There was too much magic.
