Look, I don’t know how many of you guys watched The Battle for Mount Olympus or the animated Xena and Hercules movie (spoilers alert if you haven’t yet), but it is the film where Gabrielle gets turned into a giant eagle and Xena serenades her with a beautiful song during which a fairy tale-esque “clip” is played, and if it isn’t Xena’s fantasy of being Gabrielle’s knight in shining armour I have no idea what it was meant to be.

Funnily enough, the warrior princess gets the chance to live her fairy tale dream in Return of the Valkyrie (which I recently rewatched thanks to @xenagabrielleforever) - pictures to follow…

Hercules: The Legendary Journeys starring Kevin Sorbo was a TV series that ran from 1995 to 1999 that dared to ask the question: what if Greek mythology was Baywatch? It was an occasionally entertaining, perenially stupid mid-nineties…

Hercules & Xena: The Battle For Mount Olympus.

I feel like that shit can be considered lost now because I can’t find the DVD available for sale anywhere anymore and some dick got it on ebay for $90. I loved the hell out of that movie as a kid.

Funny enough it was an all ages animated movie based on two live action series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess, which I also absolutely loved, that was rather adult themed. It was some classic WB shit that would come on every Saturday night from 8 to 10. I swear, as much as I enjoyed both those series I would love to own this movie again.

And don’t even get me started on Xena herself..

Lucy Lawless was THE one.

Thing Number 5!I was going to say that the Labyrinth [fave since Jr High] has always been my favourite. Then I remember that I watched “ Hercules and Xena – The Animated Movie: The Battle for Mount Olympus” on repeat so much that the tape broke. [I never really watched the Live Action Hercules. Only Xena.]

Thing Number 6!On that topic. Hercules is my favourite Disney Movie. I did a “Post Apocalyptic Disney Princesses” cosplay group one year. I was Megara. Maybe I’ll post a couple pics?

Did You Know? Hercules

The voice of Retro Hercules, or Retrocules, was provided by Kevin Sorbo, who previously played Hercules in “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys”. He also played Hercules in the TV movies that followed the series, from “Hercules and the Amazon Women” to “Hercules in the Maze of the Minotaur”. His role as Hercules even extended into voice over work, as he voiced Hercules in “Hercules and Xena – The Animated Movie: The Battle for Mount Olympus”. Not only that, be he came to play the role of Hercules once again in the video game, God of War 3.
