Caregiver Hades Headcanons (Hercules)

He often gets bogged down with work, but he can always find time to hang out with you. (And knowing he’s going to see you makes work easier to deal with.)

He’s got a bit of a temper, but he tries really hard to keep it under control around you; the last thing he wants is to scare you.

He smells a lot like a campfire, and it quickly becomes one of your favorite scents.

A lot of his successes come from his ability to sweet-talk people; but with you, compliments are just compliments - and he has plenty to give you! Your appearance, your voice, your talents, everything you do or are gets a bit of praise.

He loves seeing you try to argue for the things you want, and he often bends to your great negotiator skills.

Cerberus is a GUARD dog, not a pet. You definitely aren’t allowed to play fetch or give him belly rubs or- No, put those Bambi eyes away, you can’t… Well, maybe just this once. 

Between his high energy and his ability to teleport, Hades can keep up with even the hyperest kiddo. Also, anytime you get too far away or too close to danger, he just levitates you off the ground. Try to touch the pool of souls NOW, kid!

He knows all the most interesting Grecian villains and he’s happy to introduce you.

At first, Hades is super hesitant about touching you. If he gets too hot and burns Pain or Panic, who cares, right? But you’re different; he’d never forgive himself if he accidentally hurt you. In time, though, he becomes willing to give you cautious hugs and quick pats on the head.

cg!hades, regressor!reader, ascended-to-godhood!reader. due to being from a pov that is very attached to hades, not wholly sympathetic to meg and hercules. hurt/comfort

i ought to admit, this... isn't my best work, lol. i rewatched hercules and it still didn't feel right, but i felt bad letting the request sit too long in my inbox. Meg and Hercules are... sorta the villains here? they're doing it from a place of caring, and Meg has a lotta issues with Hades... they're not bad guys really, but they are making a mistake (maybe one i might write them fixing later. who knows!)

"Lord Hercules, Lady Megara. My Lord speaks of you both." You clutch your chiton tightly as you look at the two heroes, trying not to betray your nerves too strongly. Or betray the fact that you really, truly, do not want to speak.

"My father's mentioned you as well." You stiffen up at that, even though it's probably just the usual gossip that goes around when a mortal ascends. Probably, most likely, flavoured with that disdain for Hades and those that live with the dead that all the gods above have.

"I see. Well, please excuse me, but I must be getting on with my duties." The formal mask serves you well, here.

"What exactly is your domain? Hades is as close-lipped as ever on the matter."

"Well, Lady Megara, I don't–see how it is of any concern to you. Please excuse me." You bow shortly, then step back and let your form dissolve into smoke, so that you can be on your way. So that you can escape.

(It's quite likely, you think, that you'll need to sit with Hades for a while when you get back. And he'll rant about how the gods favour the heroes born to them, but you don't mind that.)

"You manage to get that stubborn ghost back down here?" Hades is as ever, and that in itself is enough to calm you just a little.

Mechanically, you nod, then sit yourself down on your cushion, letting yourself go sort of limp.

"Stressful time up there, huh? You ran into someone?"

For a second time, you nod, and hold up two fingers so that he can see.

"Two someones, huh? Don't worry, kid, barely anyone's likely to come down here after you."

You flinch.

"Ran into someones who... might?" He himself sounds hesitant now, though he hides it well. "It wasn't Hercules and Megara, though, right?"

Though you don't say anything, your stillness is answer enough.

"Oh, mercy," he says, and then you spy, at a distance, the two heroes. Hades rises to his feet, and so do you, clinging to the fabric of his robes as though it's anchoring you to reality. "So nice to meet again, heroes," he drawls."

"You've been hurting the godling."

Rapidly, you shake your head, but you don't think they see it.

"Hades, we spoke to them earlier, and they said–"

"They spoke? That's strike one, then, because if they can help it, they don't." Hades's firey hair turns red as he interrupts Hercules. "Go on, why do you think I'm hurting the kid."

"You're hardly the best candidate to care for anyone!" Megara's eyes are practically burning as she says it. You know of their history, you know that she has every reason to think this, but–

You tremble slightly, clinging tighter to Hades.

"Get out."

"But-"

"Get. Out."

Even faced with the god's wrath, his form covered in ruby-red flame, they don't back down. Hercules puffs up more "Not unless-"

"Stop it," you whisper, unable to take much more of this.

Improbably, the two heroes hear you. Hercules pales, and they both–

–they say something to each other, and then they leave.

There's a beat. Hades turns, crouches down. "Hey, hey kid," he says, tone oh so gentle, gentler than you think you've ever heard it before, despite the rage that he'd been in just a minute ago. (He'd... he'd calmed himself, for you.) "Those idiots are gone now, yeah?"

You nod, slowly.

He sighs slightly, though it's not you he seems aggravated at, and lifts you up. Unlike what usually happens though, he just holds you there. Like a moth to a flame, you press yourself closer to him, soaking up his shadowy-safe presence. In his arms, you're so small, so protected. Nothing could ever hurt you.

All is right with the world.

On the subject of Disney's Hercules, I had this au/self-insert thing that I wanted to talk about. Fair warning, though, that if I do start writing the fic it will mention stuff related to suicide, as well as my own trauma and mental health issues.

Basically, I had this idea where Hercules decided that he wanted to do the whole pygmalion thing again, but this time, he would do it the right way. Aphrodite was exasperated, but gave in, and accidentally summoned a dead guy who is now alive in a completely different century. His name is Elliot, and they are my self-insert. They now have fox ears, fox-like legs, and a tail because why the heck not. Also, because they were technically supposed to be in Heaven, the home they were going to live in is now on Phil's island. And Elliot has to come to terms with the fact that they were only brought back to life (on accident) just to be some himbo's boyfriend.

Shenanigans ensue, including Elliot helping take care of Hercules during the whole Spring of Canathus fiasco, and then Hercules trying to babysit him a week or two later. Also Hercules having to adjust to how strange his new boyfriend is.

It's going to be self-indulgent fluff, basically.

Caregiver! Hades Headcanons🔥💙 (with a sensitive little <3)

-Protective. Like "won't let you out of his sight for even a minute" protective. It's not to be strict or hard on you, it's because the Underworld isn't safe.

-Honestly, he can be quite...scary at times. Intimidating at times yes, but when he gets mad, he gets mad.

-It's never really at you though. Mainly just the Fates, demons, gods, etc. Really anyone else who lives in the Underworld except for you.

-He tries not to lose his temper as much, especially when you're around. He has his moments sometimes, but he's working on it and reassures you that he's not upset with you.

-Aside from that, he adores having you around. He's not typically one for anything that isn't evil/cynical or associated with mortals, but you're the exception. He finds it fascinating and honestly endearing that you regress, although he'd never admit it.

-He already doesn't have a filter and isn't the most kid friendly. Because of this, he tries to watch what he says and does around you, but it's not easy.

-Despite his cold demeanor, he really does care. Especially when it comes to you and how you're feeling. Someone was mean or just an ass to you, he won't hesitate to smite them. Angry and just not sure how to feel? You can rage all you want, even at him. He encourages it! But, he makes sure you don't do too much that you end up hurting yourself.

-Isn't really strict on rules other than not to go anywhere without him. For obvious reasons. Other than that, most of them are just about taking care of yourself like remembering to drink water.

-So many dad jokes. (Never at your expense, shockingly enough.) They're not always funny, but you laugh nonetheless. He just wants to make you smile.

-Talks to you about everything. He doesn't mind if you don't respond or don't understand, it's just out of habit. (However, he does try other forms of communication when you're overwhelmed or nonverbal.)

-Doesn't really baby-talk at you. He talks to you the same as he would normally, just a lot nicer.

-"Look at that constellation! Do you know which one it is, Sunspot?" "P..pegasus..?" "You are learning! Good job kiddo!"

-Definitely uses his powers to his advantage. If you need a quiet place, want or want to go somewhere special, or if you just want to be with him, he'll do it in a heartbeat.

-Very gentle surprisingly. He knows there's a time and place for everything, so he tries to be softer when he can. Especially when you're going through it.

-"Hey hey...it's okay. There's nothing to be afraid of, I mean, other than myself, but you don't have to be scared of me. I'm here for you, kid. Do you wanna talk about it? Oh Sunspot...I'm sorry. That must've been really hard to deal with on your own, hasn't it?"

-When you want to be alone at night, you have your own bed and plenty of room, so he won't bother you. But most of the time, he falls asleep holding you. Not just for you, but because it comforts him to know you're there. He likes having someone there. Especially when that someone's you.

-As odd of a pair as you might be, an all-ruling god and a little, he wouldn't change it for the world. You make his days brighter and that means more to him than you could know.
