Changes PT. 4.2
Sideria, like Hemera and Festivia, I removed the stereotypes of the Irish people, the clothes she used are much closer to traditional Irish clothes.
Sideria, no, was just as cruel as in the canon, having created a sense of duty in the children, so their fates turned out to be different.
During Sideria's last birth, complications occurred, which caused the queen to spend 7 days in a coma, but she was lucky to survive.
She and Jushtin were twins and to some extent were practically identical. She studied strategy, mathematics and economics in Elfendor, as well as potions. The author of the luck potion. She and her brother secretly participated in casinos and made sports bets. Sideria traveled extensively to other worlds and to her native dimension. She redesigned the economy.
Thanks to her mind and logic, she found a way out of various situations. With her, the Game of Flags and Cornball became especially popular.
Good with Celena. Everything is according to the canons here. She was quiet, modest and shy. Sometimes she could pull herself together, but very rarely.
She was a talented poet and artist, had the gift of foresight and had prophetic dreams.
She received an excellent education at home and was called the "mother of alchemy and potions."
She also didn't see the incident with her aunt and uncle, it was just a nightmare she saw.
She abdicated the throne to practice alchemy and fortune-telling. She didn't approve of Diana's marriage, but she didn't want to look like a bad mother.
Unlike the original story, Diana was less violent, hunting poachers, of course, there is no evidence that she killed people. She caught them and sent them to prisons. She introduced environmental and environmental legislation.
She secretly helped peaceful monsters. She revived the Royal Hunt. That incident at the tournament had nothing to do with her and happened by herself.
All of her children had health problems. Under her rule, Seth and his henchman Toffee gained maximum influence among the monsters and began to prepare an uprising.
Sky knitted clothes and toys for children and adults for free, both for her subjects and for monsters.
She was extremely hard-working and creative. Deciding to perpetuate history, she created a magic wheel that helped her weave tapestries.
She developed magical materials with different properties and created magical spiders, sheep, and silkworms.
The young people's close relationship led to Sky's fragile and painful health, as well as her short stature.
The story of the first queen regent of the Butterfly Kingdom, Comet, remains more faithful to the canon, except that she is not Moon's mother, but rather her aunt, and I dismiss the theory that she killed her husband; in reality, she and Lazlo divorced after he cheated on her and tried to get her to adopt his bastard son.
Moon's story is completely the same as in the cartoon, except that she is Comet's niece.
But she sacrificed herself for Star in the "Battle for Mewni".

Queen of the Day: Hemera the Builder
Tumblr media
The first Queen of Day, and the daughter of Estelaria, the first Star Queen. Hemera began the Age of Ascension with the incredible feat of building Butterfly Castle from scratch rather than magic.
Hemera is part of the Mewni Archives AU amd belongs to Jgss0109. Who should I draw next? Any OC requests?

I had a dream that in the new volume of Sparklecare you just. Wrote Cuddes out. They were all living in an apartment building next to each other, Uni was redesigned to have light purple fur wherever it was supposed to be yellow, Carrie had dark blue stripes, Barry had glasses and they were all less saturated, Barry and Uni met because they were forced to be roommates and were very slowly learning to get along, Jay and Hemera lived together, and Doom and Mood shared an apartment that was painted half-dark with everything red and black and broody, and Mood’s side had blue wallpaper with clouds, rainbows, butterflies flying around (that never went to Doom’s half, etc.) Everybody hated Doom and would put in constant noise complains because he would his blast emo music loud enough that everybody in the entire building could hear it. Doom said it matched the pain he felt in his heart
This would be much better than what actually happens in volume 3, by miles. You may as well take over the comic bro

A Plan of Action
A little response about Hemera receiving the Scrybe of Shadows letter.
Hemera stood on top of Tartarus gazing at the moon. A strange monster made of ooze adorning a blue mask shifted to look like Hemera. Just before the creature could attack, Hemera brought out a yellow butterfly, turning the creature into a card. Before the card hit the floor, Hemera picked it up. Hemera’s face contorted into disgust before she could even speak. “An Animus. I thought I killed all the Animus in Tartarus. It’s frustrating that my presence brings them life. This card serves no use for me nor my followers.” Hemera immediately talked over to the edge of the rooftop and released the card from her grasp. She did not care where it landed, nor did she care for the life she had killed. The Scrybe of Tarot took a moment to relax. Tartarus’s lullaby rang louder in her ears than ever before. Hemera sat on the edge of Tartarus, slowly closing her eyes and accepting sleep. Sadly, sleep did not last long, as Hemera was awoken by multiple footsteps climbing Tartarus. Once those footsteps reached the top, many masculine voices could be heard in unison, “Sister! Sister! A letter from the Scrybe of Shadows has arrived! Take it! Take it!” Hemera stands up and smiles, “Thank you kindly, Oneiroi. I shall head to my quarters to respond. Now all of you go do your job. The Oneiroi can’t be the personification of dreams while here!” Hemera shooed off her older siblings, slowly heading down to the basement where her room resides. Butterflies formed in the Scrybe’s stomach. She dreamed of being able to talk to someone else, but so soon? Granted with her immortality, anything felt soon. Once she was comfortable in her little study, Hemera read the letter. The Scrybe’s face almost looked like it was consumed by shadow, in reality, the Scrybe was smiling. The smile didn’t last as she muttered, “if only I could leave Tartarus… everyone says it’s too much of a risk. Once the Dark hour ends, I would be stuck without a home. I’m a Scrybe for Pete's sake! Tartarus is full of criminals and monsters who would kill at sight! It’s way worse, and I feel horrible that this is where I bring my challengers… Thanatos at least went to his tower, which was safer, but I don’t have that luxury. Still trying to convince Nyx and Erebus that I’m old enough to leave. I’m not a little goddess anymore…” Hemera signed. Days like these she wished she wasn’t a Scrybe, but being cooped up by her parents' care was worse. A thought arose to her mind, a scary one, but one where rules didn’t apply. The Reaper, a man who explored Tartarus and kills any prisoners who dared to escape. He could teleport into Tartarus whenever he pleased. Hemera, being his superior, could ask him to come along with her. A Scrybe like herself would need a bodyguard. She can fight, but her powers lead to devastating consequences. His method of fight was safer for the world. There was a plan, but the Scrybe of Tarot must reply to her letter.

may i please have an analysis for a sylph of life's land of greenhouses and royal crests? it looks like a seemingly endless maze of fancy greenhouses
Land of Greenhouses and Royal Crests for the Sylph of Life
Description: This land is covered in greenhouses, each one either connecting to others or close enough to form an endless maze. The architecture is elegant and fancy, made of high quality materials and often forming regal shapes. Similarly, the plants are lush and vibrant, with flowers growing from them.
Inhabitants: The consorts are likely iguanas, who tend to the greenhouses as best as they can. Although they are friendly enough, they tend to ignore the Sylph. There are also insects fluttering through the greenhouses, most likely bees or butterflies.
Denizen: The Denizen of this land would be Hemera. Like the consorts, Hemera likely ignores the Sylph despite their best efforts to talk to them. The Denizen is waiting for the Sylph to either ask the right questions or to act without questioning everything.
Quest: The land is slowly dying, cracks appearing in the greenhouses and plants fading. The consorts may have lost their tools to fix this, perhaps taken by the Denizen, or they no longer work. The Sylph must learn to act based on their own opinions and use their abilities to fix the land, rather than waiting for the consorts or Denizen to give them answers.

Change PT. 1
Tumblr media
Hello, this is Cristal_Prata.
As I mentioned, I will talk about the changes in the AU, I had to do it in a separate chapter, because there would be a lot of stuff in the first chapter.
Early years
Let's start from the beginning (redundant I know)
The first Queen who in his AU was called "Urania" buuuut, I'm going to change her name to "Moerina", reason, to be more similar to the "name" of the first Queen mentioned in the Drawing, in her lore (which I also changed) "Moe" was her real name, but she later added "Rina" which means queen in high Mewnian (it's the equivalent of Regina in Latin)
I removed some parts of the second Queen, like the one who could be blamed for her sister's death, and her name and title went back to being the first ones (I much prefer the old names than the ones he put in the final version), going from "Solena, the passionate" to "Usaginya, the Dancer" again.
Age of Ascension
My beloved father, let the games begin.
Estelaria changed a lot, I really had to change her clothes, first, the time period that corresponds to the first years/beginning of the ascension era, would be more or less in the Middle Ages (476 AD to 1453), so I changed the clothes, and also the fact that she was a much more careful mother in relation to Hemera and Nixie, seriously how did she not notice that Nixie hated Hemera to the last atom?
Hemera... First I removed the stereotypical part of the Egyptian people, she never practiced belly dancing, she only watched the performances, she also had no contact with men before the age of 18, and I added that she had a friend from the Camelidae kingdom, where she became interested in the excellent agility of this kingdom in the architectural part, and she used clothes that were more consistent with ancient Egyptian fashion, obviously based on historical and archaeological sources.
Well, in Cosmic she did explore dimensions... During her adolescence, but after Hemera's death, she stopped exploring dimensions and began exploring her own continent and also in these adventures, seeking to establish political alliances with other kingdoms. And the fact that Pixar and Costella were the bastard children of Nixie's husband. The last time she went to a dimension, it was to find a 14th birthday present for Polaria.
I made sure to include influences from the "Pirate Queen of Ireland" Grace O'Malley, I also changed her style, seriously, she needed more comfortable clothes for the high seas, and one thing that I found strange when rereading the biographies of his queens is the fact that he doesn't mention how the Butterfly kingdom began to have a political alliance with the Kelpbotton kingdom, yes it is mentioned in Festivia's biography, but how this alliance came about is not mentioned, that's why I put that it was Polaria that started the alliance between the Kelpbotton kingdom and the Butterfly kingdom.
The most difficult to change.
Dirhennia, in this version, is autistic, "but why, it's a sealing", I'm autistic just so you know, she helped Crescenta a lot in the reign, because it was Dirhennia who devised laws for the Butterfly Kingdom, and she was an extremely careful advisor in Pheobe's reign.
It may not seem like it, but Crescenta's biography is very sexualized, so I removed this question. She also established a law that said that "If your spouse is having an extramarital relationship and is displaying this, divorce is permitted, as it is characterized as a connection to the partner who was betrayed." Such a thing that after approving this law (which had Dirhennia's help in idealizing this law), she divorced Hawk after discovering the countless bastards he had, in addition to creating the support fund for single mothers and widows, but also for widowers and widows of soldiers. Crescenta never had affairs or remarried, but she died due to HIV which she contracted from Hawk.
Pheobe didn't change much, except that Waxinne died due to pneumonia, and she was also born with HIV due to Hawk passing it on to Crescenta.
Pheobe in this version was more inspired by Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom, especially in the part where Queen Victoria wore black until her last days of life after the death of her husband, Prince Albert. Pheobe wore small red accessories, but they were extremely discreet.
As for Festivia, I also removed the stereotypes of the Greek people, and went more to the historical and archaeological basis, she never tried alcohol when she was in the Silvan kingdom, but she became addicted towards the end of her life, and when the juice of the grapes from the Silvan kingdom splashed into her eyes, her eyes did not change color, but she had blurred vision for a long time.

“to help or be useful to someone or something”
"Asteria," Emet-Selch said slowly, using what remained of the patience he normally reserved for this particular friend (and nuisance, one of many) of his. "Would you care to explain—"
"Not to you," Asteria snipped, and then she flounced off into the city in a mass of crepuscular curls, leaving him to wonder if she picked up that sass from Atalanta. She was so sweet when they were younger, when they hadn't known what lay beyond the city limits, before they'd both met Hemera—Azem. Beneath her feet as she walked away, stray motes of light glimmered, leaving burning spots in the darkness when he closed his eyes.
The bakery was warmly lit when he found it, the sweet scent of honey ripe in the air as he stumbled in for the first time despite knowing of it for years. The only occupants were familiar figures without their masks on, seated at one of the tables closest to the counter, talking with genuine smiles and a hushed intimacy he knew he was intruding on. Pastries took up most of the space between them, followed by the sound of forks pinging against plates. The first to notice him grimaced.
"Honorable Emet-Selch," Hermes said, training his lips into a thin, professional smile. He made a move to put his mask back on, but the woman across from him stopped him, a distinct red mask resting upon her lap.
Azem looked Emet-Selch up and down, solar flare eyes settling on his frown. Free from the veil of her mask, her raised eyebrow was plain to see. "Well, Hades? Go on, explain how you upset Asteria. I'll know if you're lying."
"You—" He stopped before he could really start, realizing there was no sense in asking how she knew. Azem had, for better or for worse, on purpose or by accident, taken Asteria under her wing. Or maybe it was more like Asteria forced herself into a place by the Traveler's side, worming her way into her heart much like she had to himself. Regardless, it seemed the Fourteenth knew his overeager friend better than he did now, though the thought made him ache in both the head and the heart. What a headache, the paperwork these two made. "Not even a hello for your colleague?"
"Atalanta is going to pop your head like a grape when they find out you've upset her again," Azem said very unhelpfully, her soul flaring with amusement at the thought of his imminent reckoning by his slightly-feral student. "I don't need to greet you, you know I'm coming in tomorrow for reports. Melisseus—"
The woman appeared by their side with a glass jar, filled to the brim with golden honey, her smile warm beneath the shadow of her mask, though she gave Emet-Selch just a brief, formal bow before disappearing back behind the counter. Azem flicked the lid off with a practiced twist of her wrist, just as easy as he'd watched her rev her motorbike—the wretched, miserably noisy thing, bound to land her and Asteria in an accident and get Hythlodaeus laughing loud enough to stir the whole city once they did—and tapped a spoonful of it into her tea.
To Azem's left, Pan—who, if he remembered correctly, was the one who came up with the concept for butterflies, which were apparently less edible than their name suggested—made a pitying tsk tsk. "They will 'pop' him once they find out he was here. This is their sanctuary, and now you're mixing work with play."
"And Hemera is not?" Emet-Selch said with a scoff. "I am just here to see if Asteria has passed through. She lost her temper with me, which I can only attribute to the poor influence she's been around these days. I'd tell you to scold your student if I didn't already know you have no intention to, Azem, so I'll have to speak with her."
There was a long, low noise of dissatisfaction. Another of Atalanta's friends, Cerberus, looked up at him from where they were slouched in their chair, head rested against Hermes' elbow. "You mean you're going to apologize, yeah? She doesn't get mad for no reason."
Azem leaned back in her seat, stirring contemplatively at her drink, her cheek in hand. "For someone so invested in the souls of the Underworld, you truly lose sight for the living, Hades."
A staring contest was born then between the two Convocation members, the only sound in the bakery the careful clicks and scraping in the kitchen. He paused, preparing his debate, but—
"Hades," Asteria said coldly as she came down the stairs behind the counter, Atalanta right behind her. Her latest creation lingered on her shoulders, little motes of starlight, such fragile and tiny things of aether and glimmering so brightly he'd first thought she could see the souls of the Underworld herself before it'd become clear that they were not truly alive.
Pointless, he had called them idly, pondering over any way they could make something useful of them. A slip of the tongue. He'd always been one for practicality—she knew this as well as Hythlodaeus had, which was why he wore this title now. But Asteria had stopped, the excitement on her face when she'd found him again after returning from another voyage with Azem slipping, turning into a frown.
Is it wrong, she said, voice decidingly leveled despite the disappointment in the turn of her lips, to make things for the sake of it? Does it need to have a point?
Well, it wasn't as if he had control over all creations. He told her as much. reminded her of his place as the Architect, that for the betterment of Amaurot they needed things that would actively benefit them before turning to idle playthings.
All things have worth, Asteria had argued then, folding her arms with golden eyes ablaze behind her mask, her posture a gleaming mirror of her beloved (and insufferable) mentor. Even if you decide they don't. I don't know how to explain to you that you should care for more than Amaurot and her glittering spires and the perfect idyllicism you're so intent to project onto its streets. You're so quick to decide what is beneath us, what is less worthy, what is pointless—
And I suppose you learned that idealism from Hemera, he sighed, before she harrumphed and allowed the miniature star in her hands to burst into light.
Atalanta looked far from pleased at his presence while they hovered over Asteria's shoulder, but he made no move to beckon his student over while the shorter of the pair was glaring at him. "Asteria, you are being ridiculous," he said.
The audience rumbled their now he's done it and yikes. Asteria swelled, shoulders tense in the dark shadows of her robe, displeasure crackling like lightning on Atalanta's face and flaring in disappointment in Azem's soul.
"I have no reason to argue empathy to someone who so thoroughly lacks it," the woman decreed, brilliant and blinding as a supernova before she turned on her heel and marched out the bakery doors. "I won't waste my breath."
And when he looked back to Azem for some semblance of sympathy, she only shook her head, magic tattoos gleaming on her arms as she turned away to a spread of grape jam on bread.
Tumblr media
"Well, little hero?" he snarled a hundred thousand lifetimes later, the echo of their—of his world falling to nothingness around them once again. "No words left? No hopeless little speech to argue your worth?"
"I have no reason to argue empathy to someone who so thoroughly lacks it," the small woman hissed, brilliant and blinding as a supernova, her soul bleeding as colourfully as the would-be Azem and Atalanta beside her. "I won't waste my breath."
He closed his eyes, phosphenes from Asteria's brilliance still blinding him all these years later, finding that he still didn't understand how she would have loved the feeble and broken things that stood before him now that she was gone.

Greek Gods Associated with The Underworld
Hades
“Hades (Aides, Aidoneus, or Haidês), the eldest son of the Titans Cronus and Rhea; brother of Zeus, Poseidon, Hera, Demeter, and Hestia, is the Greek god of the underworld. When the three brothers divided the world between themselves, Zeus received the heavens, Poseidon the sea, and Hades the underworld; the earth itself was divided between the three. Therefore, while Hades' responsibility was in the underworld, he was allowed to have power on earth as well. However, Hades himself is rarely seen outside his domain, and to those on earth his intentions and personality are a mystery. In art and literature Hades is depicted as stern and dignified, but not as a fierce torturer or devil-like. However, Hades was considered the enemy to all life and was hated by both the gods and men; sacrifices and prayers did not appease him so mortals rarely tried. He was also not a tormenter of the dead, and sometimes considered the "Zeus of the dead" because he was hospitable to them. Due to his role as lord of the underworld and ruler of the dead, he was also known as Zeus Khthonios ("the infernal Zeus" or "Zeus of the lower world"). Those who received punishment in Tartarus were assigned by the other gods seeking vengeance. In Greek society, many viewed Hades as the least liked god and many gods even had an aversion towards him, and when people would sacrifice to Hades, it would be if they wanted revenge on an enemy or something terrible to happen to them.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Persephone
“Persephone (also known as Kore) was the daughter of Demeter, the goddess of the harvest, and Zeus. Persephone was abducted by Hades, who desired a wife. When Persephone was gathering flowers, she was entranced by a narcissus flower planted by Gaia (to lure her to the underworld as a favor to Hades), and when she picked it the earth suddenly opened up. Hades, appearing in a golden chariot, seduced and carried Persephone into the underworld. When Demeter found out that Zeus had given Hades permission to abduct Persephone and take her as a wife, Demeter became enraged at Zeus and stopped growing harvests for the earth. To soothe her, Zeus sent Hermes to the underworld to return Persephone to her mother. However, she had eaten six pomegranate seeds in the underworld and was thus eternally tied to the underworld, since the pomegranate seed was sacred there.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hecate
“Hecate is a goddess in ancient Greek religion and mythology, most often shown holding a pair of torches or a key and in later periods depicted in triple form. She is variously associated with crossroads, entrance-ways, night, light, magic, witchcraft, knowledge of herbs and poisonous plants, ghosts, necromancy, and sorcery. Her earliest appearance in literature was in Hesiod's Theogony in the last third part of the 8th century BCE as a Titan goddess of great honor with domains in sky, earth, and sea. Her place of origin is debated by scholars, but she had popular followings amongst the witches of Thessaly and an important sanctuary among the Carians of Asia Minor in Lagina.
Hecate was one of several deities worshiped in ancient Athens as a protector of the oikos (household), alongside Zeus, Hestia, Hermes, and Apollo. In the post-Christian writings of the Chaldean Oracles she was also regarded with (some) rulership over earth, sea, and sky, as well as a more universal role as Savior (Soteira), Mother of Angels and the Cosmic World Soul. Regarding the nature of her cult, it has been remarked, "she is more at home on the fringes than in the center of Greek polytheism. Intrinsically ambivalent and polymorphous, she straddles conventional boundaries and eludes definition."

Charon
“Charon, in Greek mythology, the son of Erebus and Nyx (Night), whose duty it was to ferry over the Rivers Styx and Acheron those souls of the deceased who had received the rites of burial. In payment he received the coin that was placed in the mouth of the corpse. In art, where he was first depicted in an Attic vase dating from about 500 BCE, Charon was represented as a morose and grisly old man. Charon appears in Aristophanes’ comedy Frogs (406 BCE); Virgilportrayed him in Aeneid, Book VI (1st century BCE); and he is a common character in the dialogues of Lucian (2nd century CE). In Etruscan mythology he was known as Charun and appeared as a death demon, armed with a hammer. Eventually he came to be regarded as the image of death and of the world below. As such he survives in Charos, or Charontas, the angel of death in modern Greek folklore.”
“Charon is the ferryman who, after receiving a soul from Hermes, would guide them across the rivers Styx and/or Acheron to the underworld. At funerals, the deceased traditionally had an obol placed over their eye or under their tongue, so they could pay Charon to take them across. If not, they were said to fly at the shores for one hundred years, until they were allowed to cross the river. To the Etruscans, Charon was considered a fearsome being – he wielded a hammer and was hook-nosed, bearded, and had animalistic ears with teeth. In other early Greek depictions, Charon was considered merely an ugly bearded man with a conical hat and tunic. Later on, in more modern Greek folklore, he was considered more angelic, like the Archangel Michael. Nevertheless, Charon was considered a terrifying being since his duty was to bring these souls to the underworld and no one would persuade him to do otherwise.”

Thanatos
“Thanatos was the god or personified spirit (daimon) of non-violent death. His touch was gentle, likened to that of his twin brother Hypnos (Sleep). Violent death was the domain of Thanatos' blood-craving sisters, the Keres, spirits of slaughter and disease.
Thanatos plays a prominent role in two myths. Once when he was sent to fetch Alkestis (Alcestis) to the underworld, he was driven off by Herakles in a fight. Another time he was captured by the criminal Sisyphos (Sisyphus) who trapped him in a sack so as to avoid death.
In Greek vase painting Thanatos was depicted as a winged, bearded older man, or more rarely as a beardless youth. He often appears in a scene from the Iliad, opposite his brother Hypnos (Sleep) carrying off the body of Sarpedon. In Roman sculptural reliefs he was portrayed as a youth holding a down-turned torch and wreath or butterfly which symbolised the soul of the dead.”
“Thanatos was the Greek god of nonviolent deaths. His name literally translates to “death” in Greek. In some myths, he’s considered to be a personified spirit of death rather than a god. The touch of Thanatos was gentle, often compared to the touch of Hypnos, who was the god of sleep. Thanatos and Hypnos are twins; this is where the saying, “Death, and his brother, sleep,” comes from.
Thanatos has a dominant role in two Greek myths. There’s a myth wherein he was sent to bring Alkestis back to the underworld. However, HERACLES drove him off through combat. In another myth, Sisyphus was a criminal who trapped Thanatos in a sack so that he wouldn’t die.
When Thanatos was depicted on vases, he was shown to be a bearded and winged old man. In some rare cases, he was depicted as a young person without any beard. In the Iliad, there’s a scene where he often appears with Hypnos to carry away Sarpedon’s body.”

Nyx
“NYX was the goddess of the night, one of the primordial gods (protogenoi) who emerged as the dawn of creation.
She was a child of Khaos (Chaos, Air), and coupling with Erebos (Darkness) she produced Aither (Aether, Light) and Hemera (Day). Alone she spawned a brood of dark spirits including the three Fates, Sleep, Death, Strife and Pain.
Nyx was an ancient deity usually envisaged as the very substance of the night--a veil of dark mists drawn across the sky to obscure the light of Aither, the shining blue of the heavens. Her opposite number was Hemera (Day) who scattered the mists of night at dawn.
In ancient art Nyx was depicted as a either a winged goddess or charioteer, sometimes crowned with an aureole of dark mists.”
“Nyx represents the night, beauty, and power. She represents the night because when the sunsets, she sets out on her chariot, with the darkness trailing behind. She represents beauty because she was beautiful and portrayed as one of the most beautiful goddesses on the face of the earth. And power is one of her values because both gods and men feared her greatly. She is said to be one of the first creatures to come into existence. According to some myths, she was daughter of Chaos, which means that she is a sister to some of the oldest deities in Greek myths, including Erubus (darkness), Gaia (the Earth), and Tartarus (the Underworld). “

18: unburn the ashes

Even the strongest of storms peter out someday.
Dialogue heavy stuff, because my brain is refusing to write after this hell of a week. Zaya/Thancred, technically sort-of maybe, at the end of days.
“Do you think,” Atalanta asks as the world starts to crumble, and he can already tell this won’t be easy. “I should resign from the Convocation?”
For a moment, he thinks to say yes, because the Convocation has tried for too long to tame a storm they do not understand, too prissy and stuck up to see the merits of change. Quick to snuff out anything that isn’t of use to Amaurot, even if it has merit to those outside, in the lands that Atalanta always talks of nowadays.
But not all of them are like that. Even he knows the newest Elidibus adores Azem.
“No,” he replies easily. His arms are wrapped as best as he can around them, holding tight to what he will lose; his mask is still placed neatly on his nose, but Atalanta had tossed their red one aside when they’d gotten to their meeting place under Halmarut’s jacaranda tree. “When have you ever liked being part of the Convocation, anyhow.”
Atalanta snickers, even though he can feel their fingers curl up in the cloth of his robes. “Never, really. Well; besides… you know.”
Hemera, his mind supplies. And Asteria, Pan, Cerberus, Hermes. Even if they aren’t quite.
(He wonders where they are, now; he hasn’t seen them in an age, buried in tomes and crystals alike in a desperate search to find something, anything. He remembers the wine color of Hemera’s eyes, bright even when dealing with Atalanta’s trail of destruction; remembers Asteria’s shimmering creations that were beautiful regardless of how they were blinding; remembers the butterflies that fluttered into existence in Pan’s hands and the warmth that came from Cerberus’, Hermes watching carefully and waiting to step in and help.
He remembers when Atalanta was bright, too, lightning torn from the skies and brighter than even that Quetzalcoatl filling their form. He remembers how it felt to love them so.
He still does. They might be on their final curtain, storms fading to light rainshowers, but he is impossibly pulled towards them anyways.)
“I don’t know what to do,” they exhale, lips flush against his bangs; levin crackles across his skin, setting him alight. “I don’t want to stay.”
The world burns around them.
“Then don’t,” he says in turn. He hates how easily it falls from his lips. “Then leave.”
“What about—”
“—me?” His hands can’t quite spread across all of Atalanta’s back, soothing water humming in his palms. “I’ll be fine,” he promises, even though he knows what Emet-Selch has called him for, even though he remembers Melisseus and how her bakery is abandoned but pristine without its owner, golden light calling home someone who isn’t even there. “I want you to do better than here.”
Atalanta pulls away from him, lightning bright eyes watery even as their soul dims. “Are you sure? ‘S not like everyone else has left yet. I can still stay with you.”
I can at least make you happy, is what he hears.
It’s not what he wants.
“I assure you; if they haven’t yet, they will.” He lets his hands trace down Atalanta’s arms until he can wrap his hands around their fingers. “And it would be truly terrible of me to keep any Azem here any longer than they need to be, hm? The Traveler has places to see.”
And even as he sees the worry in their eyes he knows this will be the last he ever sees them, no matter how hopeful he is. Not even the skies themselves could stop storms from rolling onwards, dying in torrents of rain and returning again, and not even he can stop Atalanta from hating what the city they hardly ever loved has become.
So instead, he lets them. Even if their sins boil over and leave them with nothing, something in him is sure that they will meet again—as something smaller, perhaps; something not made to rise mountains and give life with a snap of their fingers, something that does not know the world’s beauty but can learn.
He can hope that he will recognize them next time.
“Remember me,” he whispers as he steps back, letting their hands drop to their sides once more. “And I’ll be with you. Call for help and I’ll be at your back.”
The skies break open.
Haik, Atalanta calls when Amaurot has fallen and Emet-Selch is no longer their teacher, when he has already given himself to the second Creation made to battle the Convocation’s, when they are tired and weary and unable to see the day. I hope you’re watching.
And when Atalanta begins to sing Haik’s crowning glory at the end of all days, making their path to the Convocation for the final dance, not even the terrors of fear turn to look their way.
...
Haik: the Tagalog god of the sea who protects travelers from tempests and storms.
