Danny's "boo-tiful" parlor

After college Danny decided to open his own business, but he couldn't do it in Amity Park with so many people doubting his parents businesses or methods.

So he went to Gotham and set up a nice ice cream parlor downtown. Technically he wasn't invading any territory because he was in all of them at once. Both the Bats and the Rogues wondered if that made it a neutral area.

Everything was going well, Red Hood stopped by for pistachio ice cream every Wednesday, Harley came for bubble gum ice cream on Monday nights, ¡even a giant Crocodile came to buy him! (Croc was very surprised to be treated like another customer and it became his favorite establishment)

Until Batman decided to ruin it and investigate the harmless ice cream parlor; which unfortunately for Danny worked with his own ghost ice and sometimes could look a little too green.

He thought it wasn't fair for them to judge his ice, he had been very careful not to mix ectoplasm with his food, he didn't want alive cookies and cream or liminals running all over the city; except Hood, his pistachio ice cream might have a little ecto-dejecto, but it was to heal him ¡healing ice cream!

That's how Monday morning, the owner put up a "No Batman's allowed" sign in front of the establishment, his business was good without disrespectful furrys.

If the bat wanted to investigate, it should do so away from his respectable business and his new Boo-berry flavor. Maybe he needed to rename the place, but Sam and Tucker banned calling it "I-scream" and "Phantom's haunt" was not that obvious ¿right?

Hi guys so I didn't actually wanna make this post again but the thing is... I'm getting dangerously low on groceries and I'm a Type II Diabetic where it's especially dangerous if I don't eat.

I've only got enough food to last me another two or three days and I don't get paid again to do some proper grocery shopping til the 15th.

thinking about modern dany, who keeps busy in her free time, but when she's not doing community organizing and fundraising, she's just trying out new hobbies and activities. it's not odd for dany to have at least one activity lined up after work (and she'll have even more during the weekends!), whether it's volunteering, taking some kind of cooking or mixology class, a photography class, a paint and sip, pottery, tapestry painting and weaving, quilting, a gardening course, a jewelry design class, a dance class, you get the idea! some activities are more one-and-done, like woodworking. others, she tends to come back to, like the cooking, pottery, and tapestry classes. in particular, the cooking classes give dany an opportunity to expand her horizons when it comes to discovering new cuisines. she also cherishes the sense of freedom that comes with the ability to cook her own meals as someone who struggled with food insecurity for most of her life. and she just greatly enjoys sharing what she's cooked with others as a means of forming connections and showing she cares for them and their well-being. dany also loves pottery because there's something grounding about working with clay; it's something she finds herself getting lost in, something that makes the world still around her, and, when she looks down at her clothes, dusted with wet clay, there's this piece of her that rejoices (for, as a girl, she never had the opportunity to get her clothes dirty. there's a multitude of reasons . . . all leading back to viserys). when it comes to tapestries, she revels in the storytelling tradition that accompanies the process, and there is something quite soul-stilling there, as well.

I went to a local fabric store today that I haven't visited before and while they have more fabric to offer than any other store here I've been to so far, I'm not sure it'll be my favorite... because the owner was just. A Lot.

Like. I didn't ask for a lecture on how a 300€ sewing machine can't possibly do a good job and that especially new sewers need the better equipment and that starts at 600-700€. That's an insane amount of money! Especially for someone who is just picking up a new hobby and doesn't know whether they'll stick to it long-term! Even horseriding is cheaper to pick up, and that's a hobby that's notorious for being expensive to begin (and maintain).

And to then have the nerve to imply that me being happy with my machine comes from a place of unconsciously justifying my choices! As if I haven't seen experienced sewers consistenly do incredible stuff with machines cheaper than mine. As if the art could only ever be good if you use the most expensive, inaccessible tools. As if my machine (good girl) isn't fun to work with. (Side note: I've had her for six months now and already heard from two people that they'd love to take her if I ever upgrade, unprompted. But sure, she's no good 🙄)

If anyone read til here: you don't have to spend 600€ on a sewing machine. You don't even need 300€! While I dearly love mine, I know I'm in a privileged position to have been able to afford her. Sewing doesn't have to be this luxurious hobby *some people* are making it out to be. There's only a handful of stitches/functions/etc. that you really need, everything else is mostly just nice to have and therefore very optional.

Constance is used to the guessing of her past by strangers- how she must feel about being orphaned, about being 'unable' to speak, about whatever other words are being put into her mouth. The sensation makes her mouth remain shut, knowing well that her voice would rarely be heard.

She's aware of how this impacts those closer to her. Maggie still smiles brightly as she waits for Constance to jot down her next words when her voice fails her, but Constance can see the faint way her eyes dim at realizing today was only a writing day. How Maggie seems put off, in a vague way that she can only catch in glimpses. This would never be voiced, as she feels as though Maggie has the patience of a saint, but it festers in the back of Constance's mind.

Rio has heard her more than Maggie, but not in the same ways. It was born from necessity when she found him, her self-conscious nature hastily put aside as panic for his wellbeing arose. But as time went on, her voice came and went, regardless of how he praised her when he could hear it, or doted on her scribbled handwriting. Days where he prompted her to talk with exaggerated, but supportive greetings and questions being met only with her silence was... difficult for her to watch. There was a strange pressure from him, that she knew was unintentional. One that made her stutter worse at times, due to how overwhelming it was for every action to be praised.

Regardless of how often they would accommodate her, the sensation of dread still overtook her. How much of a relief would it be for them, if only she could talk with ease? To blend in with the rest of the townspeople, or tell those close to her how much she loved them? To be normal?

To combat this, she would spend time in front of her mirror, practicing her speech, practicing what made her nervous to say, repeating syllables she commonly tripped over. Yet time and time again, it would be proven that talking to her reflection rarely could substitute for those eyes of pity. Of annoyance. Of disgust.

The act of becoming Belle terrified her, in this sense. It was enough that the townspeople would handle her, but princes? Other nobles? Her silence was often taken as affirmation, what would happen here?

It turned out that the looks she feared still would follow her here, but not completely. Some... treated her as an equal. Knew sign language- she wouldn't have to burn through so much paper or suffer those awkward silences as she hurriedly wrote, she nearly cried- and when she stuttered, sometimes the look in there eyes would never change.

Speaking. Was still Terrifying, in some regards. But she found more of her voice, slowly, as the days went by.
