double piercings anywhere are REALLY hard to heal; a friend of mine had a similar journey with spiderbites (another piercing i often draw vriska with) and they had to give em up because those puppies just would not heal. at least you tried & won't die wondering---i'm sure for however long you had them they were sick as fuck. the scars tell a story, and are dope as fuck too.

Helena's Bio

Born and raised in the Slums with her loving parents and identical twin sister, Heather, Helena was a happy – albeit impoverished – child. When she was three she found her world destroyed; the fire that destroyed her home left her parents with only enough time to carry her out, leaving her sister behind to miraculously survive with an oddly shaped scar on her back resembling a pair of wings. Seeing divine intervention in her scar, priests from the Sky Church coerced Heather's parents into giving her up to the Church when their children were only six years old. Helena hasn't spoken to her sister since. Her family fell on even harder times soon after, following the devastation of the Slum Fire and Helena was forced to work to help her family make ends meet. She grew up a brave and capable girl learning from beggars, waitresses, dealers and even thieves, but when she was sixteen her parents went bankrupt and sold her to the red-light district where she was trained by Miss Hosta, the madam of the Calypso Brothel, and began working as a courtesan. Helena became good at manipulating men and eventually became renowned for her charms not just in the Slums, but also in the Senate, having gained many nobles as customers, though nothing she does will ever be enough to break free from the stigma that surrounds her as a prostitute.

Though Helena knows where her sister lives, she has never once had the courage to show her face to Heather. "When I passed by [the Church] before, I was used to shielding my face with my fan, not letting anyone see my face. But my eyes were always drawn to what was inside the Church walls. I didn't know what I was looking at, and I didn't know why I kept coming here, again and again." While Helena is not herself a follower of the Goddess, she often devotes herself to charity work and fundraising for the Church to help her sister from the shadows. When she does visit the Church, she hides behind a fan or comes in disguise, partially to hide from her sister, but also to keep her work from affecting the “Holy Girl” who shares her face. In fact, it was not until the height of the Sulla War that circumstances forced the twins to finally face each other again for the first time in ten years. Both sisters independently decided to arrange for the other to leave Finsel, but upon learning that Heather would not leave her duties to the Church even if it killed her, Helena finally decided to confront her sister, despite her own reservations. Helena had feared that her sister had forgotten her, or worse, that she would be ashamed of the person Helena had become, but her fears were all for naught as Heather embraced her. Ultimately, they both agreed to stay in Finsel together, and eventually survived the end of the war. While their relationship is still new and awkward, Helena is happy to be reunited with her sister and enjoys spending time together.

Reckoner (Los Angeles, California) play a more polished soul-punk. Led by vocalist Jennie Cotterill (ex-Bad Cop/Bad Cop) and featuring members from Fireworks, Alice Bag Band, this 2 song 7" charges out of the gate with sounds reminiscent of Sheer Mag, Royal Headache and Ted Leo & the Pharmacists. This is fist-pumping, anthemic, melodic punk.

Double Helix Records is releasing this. I'm not really sure why they're not selling physical copies on Bandcamp, but you can find the 7" through their shop on Hello Merch.
