Vivo Y12a vs Vivo Y12s: A Comprehensive Comparison
In the ever-evolving world of smartphones, Vivo has established itself as a reliable brand that consistently delivers high-quality devices. Among its popular models are the Vivo Y12a and Vivo Y12s. These two smartphones are closely related but come with differences that cater to varying user preferences and needs. In this blog, we’ll dive deep into a detailed comparison of the Vivo Y12a and Vivo Y12s, examining their design, display, performance, battery life, camera quality, and more to help you make an informed decision.
1. Design and Build Quality
Both the Vivo Y12a and Vivo Y12s boast sleek designs that are characteristic of modern smartphones. They feature a plastic back with a glossy finish, providing a premium look without the hefty price tag.
Vivo Y12a: Available in Phantom Black and Glacier Blue, the Y12a measures 164.41 x 76.32 x 8.41 mm and weighs 191 grams. Its ergonomic design ensures a comfortable grip, making it easy to handle for prolonged periods.
Vivo Y12s: Slightly older, the Y12s comes in Phantom Black and Glacier Blue as well, with dimensions of 164.41 x 76.32 x 8.41 mm and a weight of 191 grams. It mirrors the Y12a in terms of size and weight, maintaining a consistent feel across both models.
2. Display
The display quality is a crucial aspect of any smartphone, affecting how users interact with their device on a daily basis.
Vivo Y12a: The Y12a features a 6.51-inch IPS LCD with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. The screen-to-body ratio is approximately 81.6%, offering a decent viewing experience with vibrant colors and good brightness levels.
Vivo Y12s: Similarly, the Y12s sports a 6.51-inch IPS LCD with the same resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. It also shares the same screen-to-body ratio of around 81.6%. Both phones provide identical display specifications, ensuring a consistent visual experience.
3. Performance
Performance is a critical factor, especially for users who multitask or engage in gaming and other resource-intensive activities.
Vivo Y12a: Under the hood, the Y12a is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chipset, coupled with 3GB of RAM. This combination ensures smooth performance for everyday tasks, though it might struggle with high-end gaming and intensive multitasking.
Vivo Y12s: In contrast, the Y12s is equipped with the MediaTek Helio P35 processor. It comes in two variants: one with 3GB of RAM and another with 4GB of RAM. The Helio P35 offers a slight edge over the Snapdragon 439 in terms of performance, especially in the 4GB RAM variant, providing a more seamless experience for users who demand a bit more from their device.
4. Operating System
The operating system can greatly influence the user experience, offering different levels of support, features, and updates.
Vivo Y12a: The Y12a runs on Funtouch OS 11 based on Android 11. This OS version brings new features such as improved privacy settings, chat bubbles, and enhanced performance optimizations.
Vivo Y12s: Initially released with Funtouch OS 11 based on Android 10, the Y12s can be upgraded to Android 11. The difference in the pre-installed OS might not be significant for all users, but the ability to update ensures both phones can leverage the latest Android features.
5. Battery Life
Battery life is a major consideration for users who rely on their phones throughout the day without frequent charging.
Vivo Y12a: The Y12a houses a substantial 5000mAh battery, which is more than capable of providing a full day of use on a single charge. It supports 10W charging, which, while not the fastest, ensures reliable battery replenishment.
Vivo Y12s: Matching the Y12a, the Y12s also features a 5000mAh battery. It supports 10W charging as well, offering a similar level of endurance. Both models are well-suited for users who prioritize long battery life.
6. Camera Quality
For many users, camera performance is a key factor when choosing a smartphone.
Vivo Y12a: The Y12a is equipped with a dual-camera setup, featuring a 13MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. This combination allows for decent photography, with the depth sensor enabling effective portrait shots. The front camera is an 8MP sensor, suitable for selfies and video calls.
Vivo Y12s: The Y12s shares the same camera setup as the Y12a, with a 13MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor on the rear, and an 8MP front-facing camera. This ensures that users of either model can enjoy similar photographic capabilities.
7. Connectivity and Other Features
Connectivity options and additional features can enhance the overall usability of a smartphone.
Vivo Y12a: The Y12a supports Bluetooth 4.2, dual-band Wi-Fi, and has a microUSB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer. It also features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for quick and secure unlocking.
Vivo Y12s: The Y12s stands out with Bluetooth 5.0, offering better range and faster data transfer compared to the Y12a. It supports dual-band Wi-Fi and also uses a microUSB 2.0 port. Like the Y12a, it includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
8. Price and Availability
Price is often a deciding factor for many consumers, especially in the budget and mid-range segments.
Vivo Y12a: Typically priced slightly lower than the Y12s, the Y12a is a great option for users looking for a budget-friendly smartphone without compromising too much on features.
Vivo Y12s: The Y12s, being available in both 3GB and 4GB RAM variants, offers more flexibility in pricing. The 4GB variant might be priced higher but provides better performance, making it a worthy consideration for users willing to spend a bit more.
9. Conclusion
Both the Vivo Y12a and Vivo Y12s are commendable options in the budget smartphone category. They share many similarities, including design, display, battery life, and camera capabilities. However, the differences in processor, Bluetooth version, and RAM options might influence your decision based on your specific needs.
Choose Vivo Y12a if: You are looking for a cost-effective option with decent performance for everyday use and prefer Qualcomm processors.
Choose Vivo Y12s if: You want a slightly better performance, especially if opting for the 4GB RAM variant, and value the advantages of Bluetooth 5.0.
Ultimately, both devices offer great value for money, and your choice will depend on your specific requirements and budget. Whether you prioritize performance, connectivity, or price, Vivo has ensured that both the Y12a and Y12s cater to a wide range of users.

Oppo is looking to overhaul its entry-level smartphone lineup with the upcoming Oppo A12 which was featured in a pretty detailed leak a week ago. The same device with the CPH2083 model number has now been spotted in the Bluetooth SIG database alongside more details about its spec sheet. The phone will come with a 6.22-inch HD+ display, 4,230 mAh battery, dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. In addition, we get confirmation it will be powered by a MediaTek chipset with eight-core CPU running at 2.0Ghz, matching the Helio P35. On the software side, the A12 will run ColorOS 6.1.2 likely over Android 9 Pie. The device is also expected to come with a 13MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor while the selfie shooter is expected to have a 5MP sensor. Alongside the Oppo A12, two more Oppo phones were listed on the Bluetooth SIG database bearing the CPH2067 and CPH2069 model numbers. The CPH2067, in particular, is speculated to be the Oppo A72. Specs details here are scarce - we only know that both phones are listed to feature Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and run on the Android 10-based ColorOS 7.1. As usual, we’ll be on the lookout for more details and will update you accordingly. . . . . #oppo #oppoa12 #hd #wifi #bluetooth #mediatek #heliop35 #mediatekheliop35 #cpu #coloros #androidpie #13mp #oppoa72 #android10 #coloros7 #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #canada #usa #unitedstatesofamerica #uk #unitedkingdom #northamerica #southamerica #europe #brasil #argentina #germany https://www.instagram.com/p/B-2MpAfAxBH/?igshid=8mtd28fatz3h

We already saw images of the Samsung Galaxy A31 as well as a Geekbench listing which told us a bit about its internals. Now, we get a full 360-degree view of the handset courtesy of a GIF shared by Evan Blass (@evleaks). It confirms the previously seen design with a punch-hole cutout in the top left corner of the screen and a quad-camera around the back where we can also spot the fingerprint scanner. We can also see the power and volume buttons on the right-hand-side and the SIM-slot on the left. Samsung hasn't divulged any official information about the Galaxy A21 yet, but according to the Geekbench listing, the phone will arrive with an Helio P35 SoC and 3GB RAM, while past rumors also point to 64GB of expandable storage. The device will sport an HD+ AMOLED display and pack a 4,000 mAh battery. On the software side, we’re expecting Android 10 with Samsung’s One UI 2.0. . . . . #samsung #samsunggalaxy #samsunggalaxya21 #galaxya21 #a21 #punchhole #quadcamera #fingerprintscanner #geekbench #heliop35 #mediatekheliop35 #3gbram #64gb #hd #amoled #4000mah #android10 #oneui #oneui2point0 #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #samsunggalaxya31 #galaxya31 #gif #samsunggalaxya71 #samsunggalaxya51 #galaxya71 #galaxya51 https://www.instagram.com/p/B-hgTCig5v3/?igshid=zav4dbpwcill

Motorola unveiled the Moto G8 Power back in February and now the company follows it up with the Moto G8 Power Lite. The Moto G8 Power Lite is built around a 6.5" Max Vision IPS display of 20:9 aspect ratio. It has HD+ resolution and a notch up top for the 8MP selfie camera. On the back you get a fingerprint reader along with a triple camera setup placed vertically in the top-left corner, which is a combination of a 16MP main, 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensor units. The Moto G8 Power Lite is driven by a Helio P35 SoC paired with 4GB RAM. The smartphone runs the outdated Android 9 Pie and has 64GB of storage onboard along with a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 256GB. The Moto G8 Power Lite has a water-repellent coating and comes in two colors - Turquoise and Blue. Its key selling point is arguably the huge 5,000mAh battery, but sadly that charges through a microUSB port at up to 10W. The Moto G8 Power Lite is priced at €169 ($185) and will arrive in Germany and Mexico first. It will also be launched in the rest of Latin America and Europe, along with Asian and Australian markets in the coming weeks. . . . . #motorola #moto #motorolamotog8powerlite #mediatekheliop35 #mediatek #heliop35 #motog8powerlite #ipsdisplay #hd #notch #8mp #selfiecamera #triplecamera #16mp #4gbram #androidpie #64gb #blue #turquoise #5000mah #germany #mexico #tech #techies_page #techies #technology #latinamerica #europe #asian #australian https://www.instagram.com/p/B-hITJugZht/?igshid=rcbmhc3sk5et

Oppo has recently re-entered the flagship smartphone space with the Find X2 Pro, and for a long time has also played the mid-range game very well. That, however, doesn't mean that the Chinese company plans on ignoring entry-level models. Case in point: it's currently working on a low-end smartphone to be called Oppo A12 when it launches. This has been leaked today. Alongside the official-looking image you can see below, there's also a full list of specs. So, let's see what we have here. The A12 is said to sport a 6.22-inch HD+ LCD touchscreen with a waterdrop notch housing a 5 MP f/2.0 selfie camera. On the rear there's a 13 MP f/2.2 primary shooter, along with a 2 MP depth sensor. The phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio P35 chipset. Two variants will be on sale, one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, the other with 4/64GB respectively. A 4,230 mAh battery keeps the lights on, while the software will be ColorOS 6.1.2 - which means no Android 10 here, as that skin is based on Android 9 Pie. The Oppo A12 measures 155.9 x 75.5 x 8.3 mm, and weighs 165g. Its plastic build has a diamond pattern on the back, as you can see. The fingerprint sensor is on the rear too. All of these specs mean that what will make or break the Oppo A12 will be its price. If it's very affordable, then it's sure to sell well. No information about pricing or availability has been outed yet, so stay tuned for that. . . . . #oppo #oppoa12 #flagship #oppofindx2 #oppofindx2pro #entrylevel #hd #lcd #waterdropnotch #5mp #selfiecamera #13mp #2mp #mediatek #mediatekheliop35 #heliop35 #p35 #sale #androidpie #coloros #tech #techies #techies_page #technology #coloros6 #plastic #diamondpattern #fingerprintsensor #affordable #fingerprint https://www.instagram.com/p/B-hDlm4Acp6/?igshid=y55b8wnrxm5v

The Honor 8A Pro arrived in Russia almost a year ago, but today the company decided to relaunch the very same device under a new moniker - Honor 8A Prime. It is the very same Helio P35-powered device, but with a new color - Emerald Green. Given the phone was a year old and was a budget device to begin with it's hardly a surprise that its internals are modest. The Mediatek chipset is coupled by 3 GB RAM and 64 GB storage, with a microSD slot for additional 512 GB. There is a single 13MP camera on the back, and an 8MP selfie shooter in a waterdrop notch. The Honor 8A Prime keeps the 6.1” screen with HD+ resolution. Other highlights include a 3,020 mAh battery and Android Pie (yes, Pie) with EMUI 9.0 on top. The Honor 8A Pro was launched at RUB13,990, which at that time was $215, but twelve months later is equal to $175. However, the Prime can be bought from the Honor Russia website for just RUB9,990 or around $125. All three colors - Black, Blue, Green - are readily available for purchase. There are also gifts for the first few people - a selfie stick, Honor Band 4 or Honor Sport Bluetooth earbuds. . . . . . #honor #honor8a #honor8apro #russia #company #rebranding #rebrand #relaunch #honor8aprime #rub #budgetphone #mediatekheliop35 #heliop35 #3gbram #64gb #13mp #8mp #hd #waterdropnotch #notch #tech #techies #techies_page #technology #emui #android9 #androidpie #android #honorrussia #honorband4 https://www.instagram.com/p/B-b3M_UASX2/?igshid=m8c0ohacqmf5

Remember the Honor 8A Pro from 2019? It got rebranded to Honor 8A Prime last month, for some reason. But wait, it gets better - the same device is now up for pre-order in the UK. Only there it's called Honor 8A 2020. Even though it's identical to the Honor 8A Pro from 2019. Go figure. If you're interested you can grab one from online retailer Clove, if you agree to part with £130 of your hard earned cash. Stock is due on April 15, which is also when units should start shipping to those people who pre-ordered. You can pick between black and blue models. The Honor 8A 2020 has a 6.09-inch 720x1560 LCD touchscreen with a teardrop notch and a significant bottom bezel (so big that the Honor branding is present), the MediaTek Helio P35 SoC at the helm, 3GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage (with a dedicated microSD slot alongside the dual SIM slots), a 13 MP f/1.8 rear camera, an 8 MP f/2.0 selfie snapper, and a 3,020 mAh battery. It runs Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9 on top. . . . . #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #honor #honor8apro #rebranded #honor8a #honor8aprime #preorder #uk #unitedkingdom #honor8a2020 #onlineretailer #preordered #black #blue #lcd #hd #mediatekheliop35 #heliop35 #mediatek #3gbram #64gb #usa #unitedstatesofamerica #emui #androidpie #russia #europe https://www.instagram.com/p/B-1WIZrAhkB/?igshid=1f3kfoy83p26u
