The first time Hela and Valora meet.

A/N: First time posting my work on Tumblr. Hope you like it! Thanks for reading if you all do end up reading it-

Day after day and night after night. The same routine, wake up, eat, train, try to impress her father only to have him continue to ignore her and sleep once more. But one day, she couldn’t take it. She left the castle while it was still dark, no one suspected such a thing when it came to loyal young Hela. In human years she could be seen as nine, but she was already a couple of centuries old. 

She hid out in a garden, her thoughts eating away at her. Her father trained her to be strong. None of what she was doing at the moment. Her thoughts began to eat away at her. She went to sleep cold and in anguish. She woke up to the sunlight and laughter. She awoke in a frenzy before catching her bearings. From afar she could see glimpses of children her age running around. How she wished to enjoy the day like them… Odin would never allow her to speak to the children of Asgard. Afraid they would taint her fire and strength.

She was alone. Wholly alone. It was eating away at her; no one knew, her father never cared, no one took notice, and she herself was in her own state of hysteria.

But that seemed to change within an instant.

Hela quickly hid in the darker part of the garden as she heard a door open then close. Footsteps making their way throughout the garden. Hela’s eyes widened ever so slightly at the sight of the Asgardian, she looked about her age, if not younger. Hela’s heart was quickly taken. She was a brunette, hair down to her shoulders, her build was slim fit. Her eyes were a beautiful hazel, she then noticed her eye color closer to her irises were shades of blue and green.

What caught her attention the most was the small wistful smile that played on the girl’s lips as the laughter of children continued. An instrument was then thrown in the garden, causing both of them to jump. It then rolled towards Hela and came to a stop in front of her. Her cover was blown. By a simple toy. Her gaze raised to look at the girl once more. To find the girl looking at her, eyes wide with surprise and awe. 

Hela wanted to run. But her body wouldn’t listen to her, her nerves straining as she saw the girl walk towards her, only to stop in front of her and crouch down to her level. She simply stared at her down, eyes beaming. A closed smile was very apparent on her face, she then hit her lip and looked away from her in thought. She looked at the toy, picked it up, turned to where they heard the children, reared her arm back and threw it out. Hela could hear gasps and shrieks from the children. The girl sighed, body posture slumping before quickly returning to its posture. She looked over her shoulder with a big smile.

She then quickly stood up and went back inside. There were a few moments of silence before the door swung open and slammed shut. Padded feet rushed towards her direction. Hela summoned a small dagger into her hand, prepared for anything that could be a danger to her. She curled her form ready to attack, once she noticed the girl with a bowl of fruit in her hands with a big smile on her face, she instantly pacified. 

The girl placed the bowl in front of her and crouched down wrapping her arms around her shins as her eyes remained on Hela. Hela was hesitant at first but was quickly calmed when the girl grabbed a strawberry from the bowl and ate it. She then looked at her curiously when she reached for another and held it out to her. 

When she spoke, she felt her loneliness ebb away, “I’m Valora. Valora Windstrum.” Hela moved herself forward and took a bite out of the strawberry outstretched to her. Neither of them seemed to be phased with the action. Valora simply giggled, while Hela chewed on her food with a frown on her face. 

She spoke after she finished chewing, “The name’s Hela.” She noticed Valora raise an eyebrow, she herself raised an eyebrow in question.

“As in, Odin’s firstborn?” She instantly froze, tensing once again. 

“You’d be right.” This caused Valora to grin. “I didn’t expect any visitors, but I’m glad to be graced in your presence, my princess.” She then bowed her head slightly, only to be stopped by Hela.

“Just Hela.” Valora nodded and remained quiet after. “Y’know, I’ve been wondering, why’d they scream, hm?” She quickly caught the sudden change in both her behavior and the weather, “I apologize, I shouldn’t have asked.” Valora shook her head. A slow drizzle began to fall. 

“No, I shouldn’t have acted this way. Um, you see… I have certain abilities that I have… developed.” Hela was about to speak, that was until the door slammed open. 

“VALORA!” Hela watched as Valora’s color drain from her. Fear settling itself in her soul. The drizzle changed quickly into heavy wind, heavy rain, with thunder and lightning. Valora looked around in panic, “H-here! Hide behind the bushes!” She took Hela by the shoulders and gently guided her into the shadows of the bushes. Hela was too shocked to respond. Waves of euphoria coursed through her from Valora’s touch. But it was quickly taken when Valora left her. 

Hela could only watch as a man came into view and grabbed her by the hair. Hela waited for Valora to do anything, but she only let out silent tears. The rain washed them away, but Hela knew better. She didn’t know what she was feeling for the girl. 

Everything seemed to fade when the children from outside seemed to appear and take turns beating her. All of them laughed as she held her arms over her head in defense, placed into a fetal position. Hela could only see red after.

When the red faded, she could see her necro-swords impaling some of the offenders. While the others were heavily wounded. She couldn’t find Valora though, panic raised within her but as soon as she turned around, she was enveloped in warmth. Her body moved on its own as she embraced the person holding her. 

“Th- -ou-” What a familiar voice. “Hela?” Valora. Hela’s gaze went to the girl. Smile prominent even with the bruises and wounds that littered all over her body. Hela hummed slightly before hugging her and rolling her eyes. She swiftly lifted Valora into her hold, having her straddle her as she began to leave the garden.

“W-wait!” Hela stopped and slowly looked over her shoulder. 

“Best if you keep quiet. You dare not speak to me, you filthy commoner…” Her voice conveyed she wasn’t joking, it seemed to her that these people weren’t well informed about who she was.

“Now, kid… just who do you think you're talking to?”

“How dare you address I, Odin’s firstborn, with such disrespect.” The man seemed to finally realize his error. 

“I-I apologize to you, your highness…it’s just…”

“NO.” Everything is still. She could hear the man’s breath hitch in fear. A smile unknowingly crept onto Hela’s face. “You have no say in what I do with her. For all I care, you can forget about her.” With that she turned to face forward once again and made her way out, back to the castle. It was quiet throughout the time it took to get there. 

Hela suddenly stopped, “I’m sorry, I wanted to ask you this earlier, but I was wondering… if you’d come be lonely… with me?…” Hela felt her face heat up at how idiotic she asked the question. But she couldn’t find the right words for it. She’s never not been lonely, she didn’t even know what to call the connection of people, for she never experienced it.

Her thoughts were suddenly taken with Valora’s grip tightening around her. She felt the girl nod into her shoulder slowly before moving towards her ear.

“I would love to be lonely with you, thank you, Hela.” Hela hummed before continuing on her path. 

“Hela!” A young brunette woman around the age of twenty waved towards Hela’s direction. It has been centuries since that fateful day their souls met, and it seems that they continue to teach each other. Hela could feel herself smile as the woman approached. 

She held her arms out for her, the brunette quickly understood and began to run her way. When she felt she was close enough to Hela she threw herself at her, making Hela laugh, “Oh… Valora…” Hela began to spin while holding Valora. When she began to feel dizzy, she stopped. Valora giggled as they came to a stop.

It then fell silent between them, their gaze remained on the other’s eyes. Valora’s eyes still had their beautiful gleam to them. They still showed what she found to be the firm love and admiration she held for her as well. 

Hela would admit, without Valora by her side, she wouldn’t have known what compassion and love was. But she felt every ounce of it when it came to Valora. 

Hela let out a hum, “How is your training as both the Goddess of Seasons and Weather?” Hela smiled when Valora gave a pout.

“Not as easy and fun as training with you…” She grumbled. Hela raised an eyebrow as a smirk began to form.

“Fleeing from practice, are we?” Valora laughed and shook her head. 

“We both know who’s the one more capable out of the two of us to flee successfully…” Hela hummed in agreement. “After all, it was just a break, I was growing frustrated, meaning…” She then looked away. Hela quickly took her by the chin and turned her to face her. 

“You caused a drought to occur…” She could see that Valora was quite shaken, so she pulled her into her form. Running her hand through her soft tresses to help her relax, as well as, placing kisses on her forehead in comfort and understanding.

Bit by bit she felt Valora relax in her hold. That was until she tensed again. Hela felt it too, the change in the atmosphere, they were being watched. Valora nuzzled her head into Hela’s neck in hopes to hide away, Hela allowed her to do so. Her attention then went to the castle to find a familiar face watching them from the balcony. Her eyes narrowed at the sight of her father.

Surprisingly, it was never Valora afraid of her, but Valora was terrified of Odin. From the moment Hela brought her in, he seemed to have a vendetta against her. Hela explained why he did so, but it seemed that as their relationship grew stronger, he seemed to target her more and more.

He seemed to hate the strength Valora gave to Hela. Since bringing Valora into their home Hela seemed to stop seeking his approval. No longer chasing her father but instead feeling cared for and appreciated by Valora. Where she could not find strength and support in her father, she found it with Valora. Many from Asgard have spoken that she may be even stronger than her own father. 

“I think that’s enough training for today, don’t you?” She felt Valora nod. She made the initiative to lift her into a bridal style hold. With one last look at her father as walked inside, heading for their shared chambers.

They’d officially completed their training as goddesses. Hela was now Odin’s Executioner and right hand when it came to conquering more of the cosmos, and Valora was now given the duty to keep Asgardians crops plentiful. Valora being able to rein in her emotions from affecting her abilities.  

Their bond is ever so strong. Though Valora began to feel as though they were growing distant. That Hela was growing distant the more she left for conquering other lands. The once happy woman now looked as if she was the shell of who she once was. When Valora came to greet her with open arms Hela just walked past her as if she meant nothing to her. 

Hela knew she shouldn’t have done it. But after what her father told her, she needed to make sure that Valora wouldn’t be deemed associated with her and her actions. It hurt her more than anything not to hold her tightly, but they needed the distance so Valora wouldn’t be brought into the middle of things. 

She hoped Valora would follow her but when she looked back, she found that she hadn’t. Later throughout the night she’d hope that Valora would come into their shared chambers, only to be disappointed when she didn’t. Instead, she came in the morning, Hela had been up the whole night; missing Valora’s warmth. When she heard the door open and close, she played as if she were truly sleeping. She didn’t hear any footsteps but, in the end, she did hear a sniffle. She felt a hand caress her cheek, she couldn’t help but lean into the warmth, a small smile coming across her face, she then felt water droplets fall on her face, stopping her smile. 

She knew she needed to explain her behavior. She couldn’t do this to her lover. She slowly placed her hand on the one caressing her cheek and opened her eyes. Her heart was wrenching in pain at the sight of anguish within her eyes.

She took a deep breath before speaking, “My dove… I hope you know I don’t mean to be so distant…” Her curiosity began to spark. “I’m planning something… I can’t tell you because if it backfires, I will not have you be seen as an accomplice…” A new wave of tears began to trickle down Valora’s face. Hela sat up and moved to the edge of the bed to hold her. 

She realized what needed to be done. Her father was heavily against it but at this point she couldn’t care less. She stood up and moved forward to only kneel down, holding onto her hand with both of hers. 

“If you wish… I ask that you marry me and marry me now, my love… Once linked you won't have to question where my loyalties lie, for we will be able to hear and feel each other's thoughts and emotions.” Hela removed her right hand and held her palm up, slowly manifesting an onyx ring with an emerald gem. “What do you say?” Valora had become speechless at Hela’s confession, relief coursing through her. The marriage proposal was an added bonus. Valora could only throw herself at Hela in joy. Enveloping Hela’s lips with her own. 

“Yes…” She noticed Hela’s smile widened, she took Valora’s left hand and placed the ring on her ring finger. A silk string began to wrap itself around their hands.

“We need to complete the ceremony… we need to bind our blood together and then we’d be considered wed by our ancestors.” Hela manifested a dagger and sliced her palm first, blood pooling on the floor between them. She then offered it to Valora to which she accepted and followed.

They then placed their bleeding palms together. It was silent for moments; they then began to feel a burning sensation throughout their bodies. Just as it began, it ended, the string melding into their skin. When their eyes met, they knew that they would never be alone again. For they had each other, forever. No matter what were to change in the near future, for Hela would leave something of hers behind.

Life.

summary - james buchanan barnes is a man out of his time, lost in the darkness that hydra left in him.

frejaina heladottir swims in darkness, but the chains of hydra destroyed 200 years of her strength.

after the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, bucky and jaina stay in hiding across europe. it's a lonely existence, broken and battered by hydra. but they can't avoid the traumas they share- their souls have been linked since the 1950s. under the weight of their isolation, they are the only ones who can heal each other.

jaina is the daughter of hela (thor ragnarok), and an unidentified soul of the underworld with the x-gene, which makes her a half-god mutant. her abilities from hela consist of necromancy and soul magic, while her mutant genes allow her to bend shadows, teleport through them, and assume a horrifying spectral-shadow form. she kind of has history with the x-men in the 1990s-2000s but falls back into the clutches of hydra but i won't get into that.

Toledo was quieter than he expected.

And the wind was warmer too. It filtered through the curtains of the safehouse to bring a comfort he didn’t expect. But it was welcome.

He liked this, he liked the open air of the countryside. It reminded him of a time he couldn’t remember, but a time he felt. A salty breeze and open sky. Sunlight. Distant honking of a bustling cityscape. Blonde hair and blue eyes.

He could think about these things now, for as long as he wanted. No one could stop him. Not the beast that held him hostage for so long, the creeping tentacles that stole his mind and twisted it into something else. But the fear was still close, and it didn’t feel right to be free. It felt… fake. Like a sick joke.

He inhaled. Exhaled.

His bionic arm felt much heavier nowadays, it was almost painful. A mind numbing, thrumming sensation that never left him long enough to know peace. It was a constant reminder of the past, the silver glint of chains that bound him. His fist clenched at the thought.

“Солдат.”

Not even blinking, the Winter Soldier responded. “певица.”

“It feels so… natural. For us, doesn’t it?”

The Shadow Singer was there when he turned around, half blended into the darkness that permeated the safehouse. Her eyes, evergreen, studied him with the same intensity they always had. But now, they weren’t poisonous. They were soft, calm, sad.

“I think they will always have a hold on us,” she said softly, moving towards the moonlight that he bathed in. “No matter how much we hide.”

They never stood closer than two feet to each other, were never allowed to. Even now, when nothing held them back, the memory of their muscles restricted them.

Absent-mindedly, she rubbed her hand against the scar at her neck. He can still remember the clasp around it, the sickly red swell it left when she’d finally pried it off. The tears that followed. He had never seen her cry before and it felt like something he shouldn’t have seen. That was natural, though, was it not?

He wouldn’t know. Nothing was natural for him anymore.

“You’ll have that scar forever,” he finally said, voice parched and rough like gravel. He hadn’t spoken in days.

The singer dropped her hand. “It’ll show what I’ve survived then. Same with your arm.”

Again, the weight of his arm caved, and he hunched slightly. There were times when he’d wake up from the sharp sensation of a cold burn, blood in his mouth. He saw round glasses and lab coats, harsh lights, mountains, snow.

He truly didn’t remember anything, then. Maybe the man on the bridge was right. What was his name again? Steven? Steve? Steve.

Steve. Perhaps he’d known him in another life, like he’d said.

That would be nice. It would be nice to know that somewhere in time, he had someone to count on.

The Shadow Singer was his mission partner. A fellow agent. A warrior. She would have his back, he would have hers. That was the way it had always worked for… how long? He would have to ask and find out.

“How long do you think it’s been?” Bucky said.

“Since what?”

He didn’t even know what he was going to ask. There had been a time before Hydra, but it felt impossible to imagine.

Her eyes shifted to the floor again, the creaky wooden boards that ran parallel to her. “I remember the day they found you. I watched them put you into cryostasis. A lot. It was always fascinating to me how the human body simply endured.”

A siren wailed miles away.

“You watched me.”

“Always.”

He nearly shuddered. Her green eyes burned into his retina.

Perhaps she knew more about him than he knew about himself. He never recalled… anything. Any feeling, any desire was absent to him, a void of limitless nothingness. He just remembered the cold and the pain and the lighting that danced across his bones. It gave him nothing. It gave him no incentive for help. Why? Why had he been so pathetic, like a dog, to sit there and take what they threw at him? Why could he have never stood up for himself?

He didn’t even realize how hard his metal fist was clenched before he felt feather-light touch against it.

His hand flew away from hers in a heartbeat. He didn’t want touch, he didn’t-

Immediately she retreated back into the safety of the darkness, shadows enveloping her into a tight hug before she all but vanished from his sight. The whole apartment was dark, yet the Shadow Singer found comfort in it.

Within a blink of an eye she sat on the small green couch. Arm crossed and chest curved inwards, she was suddenly not the monstrous otherworldly-creature he remembered. Now she seemed just as afraid and cold and cautious as he felt.

“What do we call each other now?” Her voice was quiet, but it carried the weight of a hundred years of servitude.

She was asking him. For an answer. For permission, a command. Something thick grew in his throat and he couldn’t swallow it. It wasn’t his place.

The man on the bridge- Steve- he called him Bucky. It had clicked like a missing puzzle piece in a larger equation. It felt right to him, to choose that instead of Soldat. He didn’t want to be a soldier anymore, he wanted to stop fighting.

The Shadow Singer sat up. “Do you remember your name?”

He thinks so. Yes. “Bucky.”

The word tasted like sugar on his tongue, rolled off smoothly. The stones of the past began to lift off of him.

“Do you have a name?” Bucky said slowly.

She nodded. “Frejaina. Jaina.”

In the years they’d worked together, never had they known their names, never had they used them. Bucky wanted to frown. He did.

Bucky and Jaina. The Shadow Singer and the Winter Soldier.

That’s who they would be now.

Leo Valdez x OC (Hela, daughter of Thatanos)

Angst & fluff

Leo always had low self esteem and never talked much about his feelings. Unable to stand the feeling of jealousy, he finally burst.

It took Leo almost the whole semester just to get close to Hela, so imagine just how ecstatic he was when she finally agreed to date. It began with a simple pinky intertwining till finally, their first kiss.

It was on the roof, one of the many late nights they decided to stay up together to look at the stars, Hela was the one who initiated. It was a simple peck in the nose, but boy did that do the trick. Leo's face was tomato red the rest of the night, Hela's laugh at his reaction was forever imprinted in his head.

But ever since the bus trip, Hela and Jason Grace have been acting closer than before. Leo tried to ignore it, not wanting to come off as being a possessive boyfriend. But frankly, ever since the quest started, it had only gotten worst. They began exchanging nicknames, which was a jab in Leo's heart as it took practically months of him begging before he got a nickname from Hela.

He knew it was irrational and lame of him to be jealous, but how could he not when his competition literally looks like a roman statue hand-carved by Da Vinci himself. Leo on the other hand, he felt like a scrawny little monkey who clowns around in comparison to Jason.

So when Hela leaned backwards towards Jason to take a nap instead of leaning forward to Leo. He snapped, he could feel his heart in the verge of breaking. Was this it? Has she really replaced Leo already?

"OH, COME ON Hela. I'm not blind, okay!" Leo raised his voice in frustration. "You were very defensive of him the moment he woke up that morning! You stopped calling me with nicknames, and don't you dare think I didn't saw how you both holding hands and hugging either! And now, you even refer each other with nicknames? You don't even like to be called with nicknames!" His voice got a pitch or two higher, his eyes getting glassy with tears. 

Hela reached forward to hug Leo but he slapped her hand away, afraid it she hold him, he'd immediately melt onto her and pretend that nothing was troubling him. But Leo can't take it anymore, the fear of being abandoned was too great that maybe him initiating it would at least make the pain hurt less.

"I know you like him, okay... A-at least just break up with me if you're going to treat him more like your boyfriend than you do with me. I can handle a b-break up- I'm f-f-fine if you break up with me. Just don't go c-cheating on me right when we're still-" He choked up, clearly trying his best not to break down into tears.

Hela stood there, looking around to make sure Jason and Piper hadn't woke up from their quarrel. "I-if you don't want to be the o-o-one who end it, I c-can, just say the w-word and I'll, I'll stop being-"

Unable to stand it anymore, Hela immediately grabbed on to his wrist, "L-let go of me!" Leo tried escaping her grip but failed miserably, she wasn't bothered by it and continue to pull them into a corner.

Using her powers, she made a barrier, allowing them to have the privacy they needed. Hela sat down and make herself comfortable then pull him into her embrace, making him sit of her lap. "Don't bother trying to push me away" She said when Leo tried to escape, he immediately hid his face in the crook of her neck instead. She stroke his hair and whisper soothing words, allowing him cry. 

After a few minutes, Leo's cries reduce to sniffles. Letting out a sigh, Hela positioned both of them so they can see each other face to face. She smiles a little, "I'm sorry, love. It was never my intention to make you feel that way... You're my boyfriend, okay? I'm all yours, not Jason's. And I am sorry if I made you feel any less than that." Hela said while wiping the tears left in his face. 

"I do not have any romantic interest towards Jason. He doesn't remember anything about his life. I am one of the only one who actually know him, that's why he is close to me. That nickname he and I use is just a way to reassure him about his life and hey, you're the only one who called me Hela, no?" Leo nodded in respond.  

"You and my mother are the only ones who ever call me with that name. I let my old friends call my Ash, you know, since I turn things to ash," Hela start bouncing her leg up and down.

"Point is there is only one guy I would ever wanna date and love, a guy who is a genius, funny, handsome, someone who can brighten my day just with a smile. And he is right here in front of my eyes." Hela rest their forehead together. "His name is Leo, not Jason. kay?"

"I'm sorry..." Leo blushed and hid his face in embarrassment. "Aww, don't be soot. I'm glad you told me what's bothering you. I'll try my best to pay more attention to you, but I also need you to be understanding right now, okay? I promise, after this quest, I'll give you all the attention you want." Hela hold his face and gave him a peck in the nose.

"But of course, a five minute break from life won't hurt though," Hela starts pampering Leo's face with kisses and continue to cuddle, Hela always like hugging Leo, his body was like a hot pack, very comfortable.

The birth dates are based purely on their first appearance, the stories they are in, and to make sense of thir physical age (like, why Kitty Pryde still looks so young after so many years), with some canon birthdays, like Cannonball's. Also, not all marvel character are here, mostly are X-Men.

After each name there's a few letter indicating if the caracter is a OC of mine (OC); if they were a mutant depowered on M-Day (DP)/ if they were lost in time so they age is different than what it's supposed to be (LT), for example Magik; if they died and came back (P), like Doug Ramsey;

In this universe the Snap happned, like in Infinity War, and it lasted six years (between 2004/2010), so if a name has (S) in the end, the character should be six years younger, since they didn't age during this time.

Little Intro

Hey, people of Tumblr.

So, after looking at my other rp blogs I came to the conclusion that I needed at least one female character to roleplay. And considering that the construct of this oc was swirling in my mind already anyways since a bit and I wouldn't know how to write a fanfiction with her... I decided, why not?

Alright, that off of my chest here come the things you should know (about her):

Her name is Alexis, which she gave herself somewhere in the 20th century, and she is the daughter of Hela and cousin of Magneto. She's originally reborn from a universe where the MCU existed, but doesn't focus too much on that. She has come to terms with that somewhere in her early 30s. (I know I use the reborn trope again, but it just fits with her, okay?) So, she is a half-Asgardian with the X-gene that grew up with her father on earth and she has the power to bring people back from the dead. Alexis doesn't really know through if that is her mutant ability or if that comes from her Asgardian's side.

So, you want your character or one that is somehow related to yours back in the living world? Come to Alexis, but you need to give her good reasons.

She actually is quite a nice person, but she won't just mess with life and death to bring a evil person or entity back, alright?

Alright, rules:

NSFW is not appreciated, which could change over time through, but when that is the case I write it down here. Currently it's just making me cringe knowing there's another person on the other end.

Violence is okay on the other hand. It can be detailed too. Just write it at best on the top then and make a cut under it. Don't want to accidentally traumatise minors, do we? Example: TW: Heavy gore

Current status of this blog is: No connections to other rp blogs. So, please don't write a Marvel or X-men rp blog or so 'Do you know this one?' or something like that. They most likely don't. Again, I write it down here if that changes.

I would like it if we would write in interactions third person and detailed. Like the chapter of a book. So, I know how it is meaned and get more material to work with. If we write out of character then please like this: ((ooc:))

That said... If you want to interact with Alexis, as in having a backstory with her, then please write me in private first so we can talk about the details or at least the infos into the tags/post. 'Cause I, Alexis, will act as if we don't know each other. I just can't/won't search for God knows for long for infos about your character/blog.

While I am not a part of the LGBTQ+ community, I want this blog to be welcome for everyone so please don't write homophobic, racism things and etc. here! We don't need to make live worse for others, alright?

Slow Hands (NSFW Fic) (Part 1)

It’s time for another Scrooge x OC fic! Part 1 of 2, because...this fic is way longer than I thought. I maaaaay be getting carried away.

THIS IS AN 18+ POST AND STORY. Fic is below the cut. Minors, DNI.

Well, let’s begin, shall we? Allons-y!

It started out with a simple, yet far from innocent comment, one morning over breakfast.

“Ebenezer?” Constance asked suddenly, glancing up from the slightly parted pages of a romance novel she held across her lap.

“Hm?” he hummed, eyes scanning the morning newspaper as he lifted a small teacup to his lips and drank softly. “Yes, darling?”

Her manicured fingers stroked the edge of the soft pages nervously, causing them to flutter between her digits with the speed of hummingbird’s wings.

“Um, I wanted to ask you something private,” she said, glancing around the breakfast, “While we’re alone.”

The shift in tone captivated his attention instantly. Teacup still at his lips, his eyes flicked to meet hers, his gaze softening and intensifying in one flicker of movement. She could tell his focus at that moment came from a place of deeper intrigue rather than mundane interest. The secret was in how his dark pupils blew wide, and how the normally steep slope of his brows leveled to something more mellow.

“My, well, don’t keep me in suspense,” he said slowly. The bone china teacup made a delicate clink as he sat it down on an intricate saucer, then gently nudged it out of the way so his hand had the room to reach for its new target.

His large hand curled around hers easily, with no force at all, brought it up to him lips to place a kiss upon. “Tell me.”

She should have been used to the sensation of his lips upon his skin, the trail of heat that even the lightest brush of his welcoming mouth left in its wake. Yet, upon one brush of contact turned her into a giggling mess, as if she was a schoolgirl and not a 39-year-old woman. However, Ebenezer had that effect on her. His charms, gentlemanly nature, and suave demeanor all culminated into a persona that was disarmingly swoon-worthy, and never failed to make her melt into a gooey mess.

“Well…” she began, giggling as she averted her eyes coquettishly. Despite the gesture, she scooted half an inch close to him, just enough for their shoulders to brush. “You know how some of the ladies and I have been talking about our favorite books in book club?”

Ah yes, the book club.

Ethel, Hela, Mrs. Jenkins and some other London ladies adjacent to his social circle had been gathering in his sitting room with Constance a few times a month to discuss the latest and greatest leatherbound volumes that graced the shelves of London bookstore and libraries. Specifically, the group had an affinity for romantic tales. It was common for him to be working in his studies some evenings and here a sudden swelling of cheering or laughter from the sitting room.

He'd shown curiosity, and of course, Constance had been more than willing to share with him the club’s latest novel.

They’d read a few chapters of “The Dowager’s Bodyguard”, a story of s widowed countess who fell in love with one of the guards assigned by her late husband to watch after her, one evening on the chaise together, after all the other household visitors had left for the day. Thankfully, the house was long-vacant by the time Scrooge ended up throwing her over his shoulder and taking her body to the bedroom after a particularly…randy chapter provide lovely inspiration that kept them quite engaged with each other. This interest continued even after sunrise, and left both walking with a lopsided gait for a few hours afterward.

“I’m very aware, and very thankful, of the book club,” he said, eyes falling to half-mast as he peered at her suspiciously. His hand moved up her arm to cup her shoulder, his thumb working in soft circles into her muscles.

“Well,” she started, “We’ve started another lovely novel.”

A knowing spark lit up his steely gaze. “Mmhmm?”

“And, there is this one part…” she continued, growing more emboldened by his very obvious interest.

“Ohhh, is there, now?” he asked teasingly. He pulled a hand back and rubbed his jaw in thought. “You know, I’m having the strangest sense of déjà vu, darling. I have a feeling we’ve had this conversation before.”

They had, in fact. This was far from the first time Constance had shared moments from their latest romance novel readings with him.

These conversations usually shifted quickly from the realm of normal conversation, to flirting, to kissing and moaning, and…so forth.

She knew that he knew this (he was one of the two very active participants, after all) so his playful ignorance could only mean one of a few things.

“Oh, surely you haven’t forgotten,” she teased, batting her eyes in mock embarrassment.

“My...I think I might have,” Scrooge said, the shadow of a smirk flickering across his face before he theatrically whacked his forehead. “Ah, bollocks, what a shame! This craggy old noggin of mine just isn’t as sharp as it used to be.”

Constance rolled her eyes and muttered under her breath, “Oh, I somehow doubt that.”

“Well, my love, there is only one solution to this very pressing conundrum.”

“Ah, is there?” she asked. It was her turn to tease, as she knew her love well, and fully knew what he had in mind. “Well, thank goodness! Please, my love, tell me your revelation.”

The fact that she always played into his flirtatious scenarios never failed to make him blush, even when it was the exact outcome he was hoping for. Constance was quite theatrical, and as such, he had found himself gradually becoming more daring about stretching outside his comfort zone when it came to platonic and romantic banter.

It helped that the payoff for his effort was always splendid.

“Well, let’s start at the beginning,” he said, clapping his hands like a schoolteacher who was about to start a lesson. “First, tell me this part of the book. This segment that requires us to be alone to discuss in proper detail.”

Constance rolled her lips between her teeth, trying to hide her knowing smirk, before clearing her throat and lapsing back into the role of a completely innocent provocateur.

“It requires a bed, dear,” she said.

“My, straight to the point,” he husked playfully. “Tell me more. Spare no details.”

Giggling, she continued, “Well, the heroine is feeling bashful on the couple’s wedding night, as it’s their first time together.”

“Very romantic, but quite traditional.”

“Right – they’re both quite nervous, but especially her,” she said. “So, the main hero sees her tugging at her robs self-consciously, and to make her laugh, he…”

In a moment of not-so-psychic clairvoyance, Constance used both hands to reach for the teacups and silverware still on the small table, and pushed them out of the way to the back corner. Scrooge watched her in amusement, laughing at the completely unsubtle gesture.

Then, his eyes fell upon on the neckline of her nightgown, which had become tugged down during her effort. His chuckle dimmed to an appreciative hum as he took in the sight of her pleasing décolleté and plunging cleavage. While he had normally averted his eyes or paid no mind to such skin being shown (before marriage, the extent of it was ‘ladies of the night’ using their low necklines to beckon him inside to spend a few pounds from his pocket for a few minutes in their beds) Constance had rekindled the red-blooded fascination.

Besides, as indicated by a quick glance in his direction and a lovely smile that made his heart pound more than any level of nudity ever could, she was just as in on the act as he was.

Once done, she plopped back int her seat and sorted herself accordingly.

“Where was I?” she teased. “Ah, yes! So, he swoops her up and carries her to the bed.”

“A, a familiar scenario,” he teased.

“For the books, or us?”

“Both.”

“Hey – I thought you said your memory was bad!”

“Ah, yes. I forgot.”

“Uh-huh. Did you?” she asked with a smirk. The sudden inflection of her New York accent added further sarcasm to her comment, causing the words to come out as, ‘Uh-huh, did-jyah?’

“Besides, beauty as radiant as yours, especially when unclothed, is impossible to forget,” she supplied, lowering his voice to a velvety timbre that never ceased to captivate her. “It would be like trying to forget the radiance of a sunset, or the cleansing glow of fawn.”

Stars above, how he adored when she blushed. The pinkish hue complemented her strawberry-blonde hair and raspberry lips wonderful. It was an arduous endeavor to not lean in and kiss her right then and there.

“You rapscallion!” she giggled.

“Guilty,” he admitted with an easy shrug. “Apologies, my dear. Please, continue.”

“Will you be good?” she asked, sinking her teeth into her plush lower lip.

He answered only with a ravenous smirk, which seemed to be the answer she wanted, as she quickly picked up from where she left off.

“Well, after a little of tender love and care to make sure she is…quite ready for him,” she said, taking yet another cautionary glance over her shoulder to make sure Magda hadn’t snuck back in early from her errands, he continued in a hushed voice, “He tells her to lay on her back. She does, and he leans over her. Slowly, taking his time touching her. Warming her up. The entire time, he stares into his eyes, one hand clutching the headboard tightly.”

At first, he expected to hear more. For her to continue. Yes, she continued to sit and beam at hm, hands innocently placed upon her blushing knees.

“Truly, that’s it?” he asked. The man wasn’t trying to be rude. Actually, he continued to be unfortunately shocked by how bar the men had fallen where women read romance novels to experience something as commonplace (in his mind) as intimate eye contact in the bedroom.

Heavens, he suddenly thought, had he not given her that? Had he left her wanting? The possibility suddenly made him hyper-alert. His whole body perked up at he scanned her face for any traces of… well, anything. Anything that might hint at subtle disdain or unhappiness. Perhaps he was naïve, but he saw nothing.

Realizing he was seeking clarity, Constance smiled warmly at him.

“Oh, my dear, it’s not the intimacy of the eye contact,” she said. “Truly, you never fail to make me feel truly ravished, in every way possible, after our time together.”

“Oh,” he said, letting out a nervous sigh he didn’t realize he’s been holding in. “V-Very good then.”

Her brows arced backward in sympathetic humor. “I didn’t mean to scare you!”

“T-Then, it’s…”

“Holding the headboard,” she finished for him, blushing even as she spoke the words aloud. “Y-Yes.”

By comparison, he looked flabbergasted. ���Well, that sounds…quite simple.”

“It does,” she admitted, “Until you picture yourself in the scenario.”

He lifted a thick brow at the admission. Well, that was an interesting tidbit of information. “Oh? Do you often insert yourself into these lovely literary fantasies.”

“I do,” she said. This time, instead of just scooting closer to him, she leaned forward so her face merely had to tilt upward to be within a hair’s breadth of kissing her husband’s lips.

“While we were reading it, I couldn’t stop thinking about the idea…” she teased. “The sight of your lovely, broad-shouldered frame over mine, one hand clutching the headboard to stay steady, because you were fucking me so hard that I could barely catch my breath…”

His heart, and lower anatomy, jerked at the description. “C-Connie…”

“I was so, so wet by the end of the meeting, I almost went right to your office and locked the door,” she said with a laugh. “Ambushed you at your desk, swept all the papers onto the floor, and kissed you silly while undoing those pesky pants of yours.”

He fought the urge to roll his hips at the words alone.

“And, um,” he began, voice starting to strain even more than his trousers, “Why didn’t you?”

“Love, we had guests!” she said, slapping his chest, keeping the width of her palm over his heart. “And they wanted to stay for tea. I couldn’t just kick them out!”

“Hm,” he hummed, not convinced. With one hand rubbing his chin in thought, the other snaked around her body to find purchase on the narrow notch of her waist. “Well, next time, then.”

“Ebenezer!”

“You paint too delicious of a picture for me to resist,” he offered in meager defense.

“Well, would you like to know more details?”

“My dear lady, I do believe I asked you to spare no detail.”

“Ah. Well, then…”

Slowly, she moved from her own seat and into his lap, which he welcomed greatly. Sliding back his chair a few inches from the table to provide her with the proper amount of room, she had no problem finding a comfortable position straddling his hips.

Her nightgown parted easily, riding up her bare thighs, giving him free sovereignty to caress and run his fingers along the supple skin. He took ample advantage of this opportunity, enjoying how bliss flickered across her lovely face with even the gentlest movement.

“While we were having tea afterword, I couldn’t stop fidgeting in my chair, thinking of you,” she confided. She rolled her hips against the top of one of his thighs, seeking friction. “I would feel my cunt twitch every time I moved to the hard edge of the chair.”

“You poor girl,” he husked, grunting at the warmth he could already feel pooling between her legs. The hand that held her waist drifted south, finding the soft dip between her hip and thigh, and held on. “How ever did you survive?”

“Gods, I haven’t a clue,” she laughed, dark lashes sweeping the tops of her cheekbones as they fluttered shut. “I must admit, I was rather poor conversation that evening. I’m sure they all thought I was in a gaze. It was very rude of me.”

“All the more reason to forego tradition and, next time, usher them out,” he said. He gave her a light slap on the bum, which made her yelp.

“You are impossible—woah!”

Her sentence was cut off by Ebenezer lifting her off his lap and into the air. Carrying her bridal style, he whisked her out of the kitchen and through the entry foyer. To not fall, Constance threw her arms around the man’s broad shoulders, squealing with delight as he growled possessively against the delicate flesh of her neck.

With a kick, the door to their shared bedroom flew open, and he deposited her upon the bed with a light throw. Landing right in the center, she bounced up, nightgown riding up and robe sliding open from the motion. Constance threw her head back and laughed radiantly, the sound as beautiful as it was loud. She even snorted at the end, a surefire sign her laughter was as true as gravity in its authenticity.

“So cute,” he teased, and he meant it. Her laugh, snort and all, was like music to his ears.

As she sat up, he propped himself up at the edge, one knee on the bed, and reached down to undo the tie of his robe. The silk material slipped over the tips of his broad shoulders with little resistance, revealing the pale sleepshirt beneath. The linen left very little to the imagination, the soft cloth outlining the pleasant swells of muscle across his chest and arms. Even as a man over 50 years of age, his active routine and desire to always be busy kept him from being sedentary.

The opening at the top of the shirt was a few buttons undone already, revealing the dusting of silvery chest hair she enjoyed burying her face in. Automatically, her hands reached out to lay flat over his pectorals, appreciating the firmness and feeling of them.

“My, you’re already handsy,” he teased, puffing his chest a bit at her touch. The way her eyes roved over him made him feel like he was an eight-course meal, and the passion in that gaze had yet to dull even after multiple couplings.

“Only around incredibly handsome men,” she teased, smirking up at him. “Well, one handsome man. But I’d be even more handsy if these pesky clothes weren’t in the way.”

Her wish was as good as any order. “Say no more.”
