La magia iniziale dei Ringarë temo si sia già dissolta. Dopo il meraviglioso Under Pale Moon e il discreto sequel Thrall of Winter Majesty, passando anche per un altro album nel 2020 del quale non ho capito l’entità (forse raccolta di demo più tracce ambient) siamo arrivati alla svolta del famigerato terzo album, uscito a sorpreso per la nostrana Avantgarde Music. Eh, chissà come l’ha presa Mammarella a proposito di questo Of Momentous Endless Night...

Le tastiere velate ed atmosferiche degli esordi si sono trasformate più in qualcosa alla Hecate Enthroned dove synth e chitarre spesso fanno i medesimi riff ma ancora degni di dire qualcosa. Ma attenzione perché dopo averlo ascoltato diverse volte, questo disco non è per niente carente di idee; il problema più grande è che è stato presentato con una batteria iper-veloce quasi triggerata (molto più veloce di Battles in the North e ben più veloce di quei tutorial di batteristi tipo Dominator o Janne Jaloma dei Dark Funeral). Francamente la trovo una cosa alquanto ridicola; perfino i Limbonic Art, pur nel digitale e nella drum programmata, avevano un sentore di velocità umana. Eppure se questo nuovo album fosse una sorta di metal futuristico, cibernetico dove il digital e il parossismo potevano trovare anche una quadra allora si poteva capire il perché. Ma con queste atmosfere che rimangono più vicine ai Cradle of Filth, al vampirismo o al cavalleresco trovo che la batteria sia sempre e completamente fuori luogo. Per quanto a livello di atmosfere e di songwriting sono ancora molto più genuini dei compagni di label Moonlight Sorcery, rimane sempre quel sasso nella scarpa che si fa sempre più acuminato e scomodo: il batterista.

Leider war auch das letzte Jahr nicht zu allen Musikern gut gewesen. Einige richtig einflussreiche Menschen mussten die Bühne wechseln, wie immer eigentlich zu früh. Den Musiker hören ja nie wirklich auf Musik zu machen. Was bleibt ist in allen Fällen ein Vermächtnis. Ein Werk für die Nachwelt.
