#Headcanons aren't Canon

Honestly, I hope that you continue to espouse your views and be that "cold water" for the fanbase by sticking to the facts as they are introduced in the series versus embracing people's headcanons. I've seen what happens when a fandom allows their inane, emotion-driven interpretations to run rampant and distort the context of the source material to use as their vehicle for their projections and it isn't pretty (Final Fantasy VII, Dragon Ball Z, My Hero Academia, to name a few).
At the end of the day, people are going to have their own sense of fun when it comes to a game.
Lately I've been playing games while inventing my own narrative to them (i.e. I create my own mental story as I play the game based on my own experiences). Especially games with a heavy Character Creation feature.
I don't think it's a cardinal sin to do this... just that it is "sinful" to adhere to it as the truth (even if from a personal perspective it might feel as such).
I think a lot of people have their own burdens to carry, and so they interpret the world in a way that suits them most peacefully (even if that distorts the world view of others who look upon it).
Even with Authors (i.e. the Word of God)... sometimes what they write is completely rejected by the fanbase and thrown in the trash (I've seen this with Harry Potter fans and KOF fanbase).
Is it delusional? From a realist perspective maybe, but when all you're doing is having fun and living your life to the fullest, how much harm is there in that?
People get mad at me when I reject those notions in one single game, but if the purpose of my researching in the game's narrative is to hold true to the narrative's complexity, then it's a necessary rejection.
It is not my intention to fully reject their "personal reality", but that I only want to adhere to what bears the factual sense in how a story is presented.
You normally don't have this problem when the author is forthright and direct... but we've had wishy-washy errors and mistakes for years now... and getting the story straight is a milestone in accomplishment. I could say the same for BlazBlue, but fortunately Mori had the foresight to rewrite the history of his story in a way that was easier to digest... and that in and of itself influenced how Strive was written in the years to come.
So I'm grateful for the changes and more sensible decisions being made in the present compared to the vagueness of the past.
Which is the greater evil? Plot holes? Or Retcons?
I'd be willing to put up with retcons if it meant a more cohesive storyline... but at the very least, it's just food for thought.
Let me repeat myself: I don't reject a person's world... I simply reject what doesn't make sense to assume when there is no evidence.

Sure, break the rules and canon all you want, but at least be cognizant of the fact that you're deviating from canon when you do, people!
People getting upset their headcanons aren't canon happens more than you'd think.
the "canon isn't real we make our own rules" to "i am begging you people to revisit the source material" pipeline

10 Tips for Starting Pokémon Training as an Adult
It's never too late to become a pokémon trainer. That's what people say. But if you're anything like I was, you probably think that's a load of rubbish.
When I took up the hobby, aged 31 and working 9-to-5, I didn't see how I could ever fit in with - or catch up to - the people who'd been training pokémon since they were kids. It's not easy! But it would've been much easier with the right advice.
So whether you're trying to get back into an old hobby, or you're a total fletchling, here are the ten tips I wish I'd known before getting into pokémon training as an adult.
Look to shelters for the perfect partner pokémon. People make a big deal about growing up alongside a pokémon, but raising one from young takes time, money, and energy that you may not have. Most kid trainers can only manage it because mum and dad take care of the boring stuff (like buying feed, taking them for check-ups, and hosing them down when they run headlong into a bog). Shelters are heaving with rescue pokémon, many of which will have been previously owned by trainers, so they'll be a lot easier for a beginner to work with. On top of that, you'll be giving a pokémon a new home, which is vitally important.
Trainer cards are for you, too! This can seem like an obvious one, but I've met so many adult trainers who never even thought to get a card. Even if you're not planning to take on the League, trainer cards still get you great discounts on goods, Gym entry fees, and (weirdly) some restaurants and tourist attractions. You won't get your card for free the way that most kids can, but the cost is very reasonable.
Make use of night classes. Most Gyms, both official and unofficial offer discounted training sessions from 8pm onwards to capture the older market. They're a great pick if you work full-time and they're generally much quieter than the day sessions. The one downside is that the Gym Leader rarely attends, but the other tutors are usually pretty good - and they'll be less busy than the Leader, so more able to offer personalised advice.
You can take on the Gym Challenge without travelling. If you're busy studying, working, or raising children (or all three, god forbid!), you probably won't have the spare time to trek around the region battling Gym Leaders. However, with a bit of planning, you don't need to. Most Gyms take match bookings up to 6 months in advance, which means you can plan trips well in advance for when you have the time to travel out. Pop-up Gyms are also becoming increasingly common, where Gym Leaders will visit other cities for a few days at a time, run some workshops, and reach out to challengers in the local area. These can be busy and oversubscribed, but they're a potential option if you can't travel far.
Unless you've practiced it, don't throw your pokéballs into battle! Yes, it's what the professionals do, and they look effortlessly cool doing it. But it's not as easy as it appears. If you try it, you will end up hurling your pokéball out of the ring, and you'll have to awkwardly shuffle after it to get it back. There's nothing like that to kill your confidence before a match. Gym tutors can teach you how to throw pokéballs like a pro, but until you've mastered it, stick to just clicking the eject button.
Keep it simple, keep it Silph. If you're new to training, or you've returned to the hobby after a long time away, you'll be dumbfounded by the range of pokéballs on sale in general stores. Take deep breaths and try not to panic. Some of the differences are purely cosmetic, some only matter if you plan to be out catching pokémon, and others are just ways to get money out of you (I promise, you don't need Bluetooth-enabled pokéballs, or ones that claim to measure your pokémon's heart rate and stress levels). When in doubt, stick with Silph's classic long-life pokéballs. They cost a pretty penny, but trust me - their quality, longevity, and ease of use is unmatched.
Spend quality time with your pokémon. If you're completely new to raising pokémon, it's easy to dedicate most of your hours together to training. Remember to take breaks, for both your sakes. Spending time on fun, non-competitive activities will deepen your bond with your pokémon and bring you more in sync with each other. Brush their fur, take them for walks, let them watch you cook. It's okay to keep your pokémon in pokéballs, especially if you've got limited space at home, but experts recommend that they spend no more than 8 hours confined at a time.
If you're a returning trainer, remember that your partner pokémon might not be as keen to resume the hobby as you are. After a few years away, some pokémon lose their zeal for competition entirely. It can be tough to imagine battling alongside other pokémon, especially if you and your buddies go way back, but try to see it as a positive. It's a chance to forge new partnerships and try out new battle styles.
Learn from your fellow trainers, no matter their age. If you're an adult beginner, you'll definitely feel out of place next to all the young'uns taking on the Gym Challenge. Swallow your discomfort and ask them to battle! Kids are always up for a match, and they've got a wild, unselfconscious way of battling that you can learn a lot from. Just be prepared to lose a lot. And try not to gloat too much when you finally win against that annoying kid who wears all his Gym badges on his coat. (There's always one).
Know that you're not alone. It's definitely easier to get into pokémon training as a child, but that doesn't mean it's not worth doing later in life. Lots of successful trainers didn't start their careers until adulthood; Wulfric, from the Kalosian League, only got into battling when his young daughter did. Hassel, of the Paldean Elite Four, has written extensively about the difficulties of returning to dragon taming after spending over a decade in another career. Take inspiration from those who have come before you, and remember that you have as much right to this hobby as anyone.

anyone want to hear a fun fact. ok. here i go
girls noticeably shorter than marinette: sabrina, alix, mylene, rose
girls basically the same height as marinette: chloe, alya, kagami, lila, zoe
outlier: juleka. who is noticeably very tall compared to all other girls her age (and also, i think, older?)
basically, if you split the female characters of the show into "shorter", "taller", and "juleka", marinette is one of the taller girls her age

the beach boys fill the kitchen, happy voices getting lost in the fog of pasta water. pitts sings along in the highest voice he can muster, leaning close into knox when the latter complains, and knox just laughs and softly shoves him away. "c'mon, todd!" charlie is doing a sort-of shuffle on the carpet, using a wooden spoon as a microphone. "will you do me the honours?" todd shakes his head, grinning, but accepts charlie's outstretched hand, losing himself in the improvised dance moves and the sound of harmonies and bubbling sauce. pitts whistles. "look at you go, anderson! i might have to change dance partners- ow, i was joking!" meeks grins. "you wouldn't dare, anyway." charlie's eyes gleam under the kitchen lights. "oohh, this calls for a dance battle! c'mon, meeks!" "fine", meeks chuckles, handing knox the spatula. "knoxie, your turn." knox licks some sauce off his fingers, grin wide as he turns up the music. "take it away, guys."

I'm staring at the newest chapter in horror but also, there are SO many witnesses and there will probably be a ton of documentation about the second dimensional incident, which makes it that much more baffling Bill got an insanity plea. I know it's for Story Reasons and I probably shouldn't think about it too hard but goddamn.
They legitimately looked at all of this and said "yeah no he's found not guilty by reason of insanity, Theraprism NOW." (I thought at first it was "guilty but insane," however we get no indication that he's going to be sent to a normal multiversal prison after he completes his karmic rehabilitation. They all but say that reincarnation is the goal after this is over, which seems to be equivalent to release and reintegration into society.)
That being said it could simply be that interdimensional court has different requirements to be declared insane enough not to get permadeath. Or I'm misremembering how the Theraprism works...It's a forensic hospital, right? Not prison. He's being treated not punished.(Kinda debatable. That place sucks.)
The Axolotl gotta be the single best lawyer of the entire multiverse how the hell did they pull this off. I would love to just be in the court when this went down actually I can already feel how absolutely insane it was. No way either side didn't fight tooth and nail.
the fact that Bill is willing to look every single person he meets dead in the eye and say "no my dimension wasn't destroyed, it's fine, all my people are alive and they love me" is ngl gonna be a big part of the ax's defense strategy.
They have a lot of documentation of what Bill's like after the massacre—but there's absolutely no record, anywhere, of what happened during the massacre. You know what they do have documentation of though? Bill insisting that he dumped Euclydia into Dimension Zero so that he could do renovations and that he's built a paradise universe in its place when all he's built is a void with a few strobe lights. Bill claiming that all these people he kidnapped himself are actually from his dimension. Bill pulling off "rescues" with seemingly no self-awareness that he slaughtered more than he saved. Bill being told MULTIPLE TIMES "if you keep trying to fix Dimension Zero then the multiverse will collapse" and Bill going "okay. i hear you. So how about i fix Dimension Zero, and then, everything is fine."
What do you do if you get Bill into a courtroom and ask him "do you plea guilty to the massacre of Euclydia?" and he goes "I don't know what you're talking about. There was no massacre. I liberated everyone, they're fine. They're literally still alive today. Nobody died." Like. You're trying to decide his culpability in a crime he doesn't acknowledge happened.
You've gotta ask 2 questions: does Bill literally not know what happened to his dimension—even if the knowledge comes and goes, is it still sometimes genuinely missing—or is this just an act to try to wiggle out of trouble? And, if he does literally not know what happened to it, is that a trauma reaction to the massacre, or did he commit the crime not comprehending what the result would be?
Bill's a known liar, this could all be an act. But, like, god, wow, it's a really, really good act.
The Ax can argue that Bill literally doesn't grasp the difference between right and wrong. He can tell them that Bill is completely unable to differentiate fact and fiction. He can tell them that Bill has delusions that he didn't destroy Euclydia, that the neighboring dimensions are Euclydia, that all his people are alive and healthy, and argue that he probably had delusions that whatever he did to his dimension wouldn't destroy it in the first place. He can argue a whole lot of things about Bill.
Are any of these things true about Bill? Debatable. Probably not. Somewhere between 30%-60% true. Could the Ax convince a court that they're true? Probably. Everyone already agrees Bill's insane. The only question is if he was the right kind of insane at the right time.

eughhh sleepiness is taking over must write about inky boy. ink sans is by @/comyet
i think upon reanalyzing some asks and the FAQ i have begun to understand how inks err emotions work a little better. a bunch of this is me kinda theorizing sooo yeah. it's not as uhh clear as my other rants are
His emotions aren't really "fake". at least my definition of fake. He still feels.
Instead, their main struggle is to balance and understand his emotions. Like in this ask:
So, he can definitely have quote on quote "normal relationships" with other people
One day you may ask him and he'll be like yeah i care about them alot and the next he doesn't feel very attached at all. As i interpreted "not making sense" as to not understanding why or how he even cares for these people. It seems really dependent on his internal emotional balance. The pretending comes in to play where he may exaggerate or lie about his emotions. Perhaps because he himself wants to have these attachments. Or because he wants to spare others feelings.
more yappage under the cut
According to his FAQ, he realizes his soullessness is an advantage (and theres not any realistic/non morally dubious means to obtain one) and wouldn't change that. However, i don't believe he is completely content with some of the drawbacks. He feels the need to hide his soullessness, as indicated in his design notes. But it "shows through". He feels the need to "pretend to have a soul" -from his backstory comic. This may be because he feels insecure in some way. believing his own emotions are less than others. Or his feelings are invalid or fake because he doesn't have a soul. Or at the very least not as real as others. Because he doesn't feel emotions the way others do, it must be wrong. Because hes chaotic neutral, i don't think these are things others contributed to his line of thought. Rather, something hes internalized himself. not that he would ever tell anyone that.
He may also hide this fact not the freak people out. Man does enjoy a bit of mischief, but it probably be kinda hard to work with other people if you have a large chance they may be scared of/don't trust you. I also think he doesn't actually want to like...petrify people. Which i would imagine many monsters would struggle, if they knew. given what people may assume of him. Or at least that's what he thinks ig shsksh.
Given he fears loneliness i think both of these reasons may contribute. He doesn't want people to abandon him. abandonment issues caused by trauma he can't remember.
But he can definitely feel extremes as well. being "overexcited" so much so he forgets consequences. He vomits up ink when shocked or overly passionate. I didn't expand on this as much because i feel like others have explained better than i ever could.
as his FAQ indicates his emotions can be separate from his morality. so its not necessarily contradictory for him to have these big emotions but still have uhh ig a more neutral way of looking at things. ig
btw this post was inspired from this analysis!! i tried to add my own spin on my commentary

Somehow, my (lust) brain was so focused on blacksmith = muscles and man who knows what to do with his hands that I just now realised how extra attractive someone who knows how to make weapons and armor would be to any Mandalorian...
YES. The fact that Agen is a legit weaponsmith, and the weapon he forges is lightsabers, probably only adds to the appeal tbh.

I looooved Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and I absolutely adore how much Beetlejuice swoons over Lydia at times, (blowing kisses and dancing with her in the air) however, I’m not exactly sure WHY he fell in love with her? Is it because when they talked the first time he felt sympathetic towards her feelings of loneliness? Is it because she is different than others for her tastes and interests? Is it her bravery, (as she is not scared as him as normal people are, didn’t even faint when he did his scary face! I think she’s more wary of his powers and potential danger) is it her kindness and patience towards others? (Like dealing with Rory?) I wanna know your opinion!
I probably answered a similar question already, but I can talk about this all the time (and who knows if my thoughts have changed and maybe I say something different lol). I so love to muse over this one 💜✨.
Headcanons ahead! There is also this post I talked about this topic (probably rambled way too much in that one lol).
I just want to center this post on which qualities I personally think made Betelgeuse fall in love with Lydia, not necessarily the how or when it happened.
Truly the first thing Betelgeuse noticed about Lydia was her dark and mysterious looks. He's attracted to dark, goth ladies as evidenced by Delores, and here came this beautiful young woman, all dressed in black, with dark hair and mysterious eyes which carried a tangible loneliness in them he probably identified with. He was intrigued.
But it wasn't her beauty, what captured and secured his affection.
There is something that Lydia has that Delores never had, and that something started piercing through his heart, making him fall in love. Lydia is gentle and kind; she's a caring soul, willing to make a sacrifice for those she loves. She may be a dark and mysterious lady, but she has a big, caring heart. And (headcanon of mine) Betelgeuse, who has always desired a loving relationship, was attracted to the warmth of that heart like a moth to the light.
Lydia knows she's strange and unusual, and she doesn't mind things that are strange and unusual. She doesn't mind ugly and scary things; where others would turn away in disgust, Lydia would look with curiosity and without judgement. And she's sweet and innocent, despite her dark, gothic looks.
She had just the heart to take him in and allow him to experience that love he's craved for so long.
As an adult, Lydia is demure and sensible--perhaps a little too much, which makes Betelgeuse want to show up in her life and protect her (example, protecting her from Rory and scaring the living shits out of him for being the pos he was to her).
Lydia is also brave and willing to put up a fight. In fact she was willing to protest him during their first wedding attempt. Perhaps in hundreds of years he wasn't faced with someone who was willing to fight him back or to look upon him without fear or disgust. Lydia didn't flinch at seeing him, when she first saw him in the model; she just asked him if he was a ghost, too. She didn't turn her face away with disgust or run away scared at the sight of him. I imagine he would have done things differently back in '88, if he'd have seen things more clearly.
Just being herself endeared Lydia to Betelgeuse.
And then, watching her for over 30 years, he saw her as a mom, displaying all those qualities he was always so fond of, but amplified in the love and care for her daughter 🥹. And he saw how the men in her life didn't appreciate her, too. His heart must have been breaking as he was desperate to make contact again. He couldn't manifest in the world of the living freely or appear in front of her without being summoned, so he tried and tried to get her to see him so he could make contact and maybe make her say his name. I imagine he must have wanted to break into her life and scoop her away from the undeserving men who instead of valuing her, either took her for granted or took advantage of her. He knows how special she is. He knows how her heart and her mind works. He simply loves everything about her.
Anyway I am lowkey starting to write a fanfic here, so I'll stop 😆. But these are some reasons why I think he loves her. 💚

My weirdest headcanon is that at the end of 4th year Remus bites his leg off during a transformation. It's the first moon after his mum's funeral so he's extra distressed and the wolf isn't having it. Pomfrey is terrified when she finds him all mangled and cold from blood loss, and it's the first time James, Peter and Sirius aren't allowed to see him right away. Pomfrey magically sews his leg back together, of course, but like all his werewolf injuries it doesn't heal quite right. Now Remus has to hide his newfound limp to avoid suspicion. It makes Severus question him even more than before though, especially with Professors making up new excuses for Remus' absence after that since, you know, his mum's illness can't be a reason anymore. It also makes James, Peter and Sirius work faster on their animagi master plan cuz "bloody hell he chewed off his leg!"
