once again. i am thinking about an alternate end of time ending where the master joins up with the doctor on the tardis, but now specifically, an au where the doctor still ends up regenerating and crashlanding in amy's backyard. au where the doctor doesn't show up 12 years late because two timelords piloting a tardis is (marginally) better than one, and now amelia pond is going on adventures in time and space in the care of the two least qualified being in the history of the universe to take care of a seven year old.

Synopsis

The Doctor decides to test how good Missy has become by sending her on a trial run with Bill and Nardole. However, when things go wrong, the Doctor takes over. With Bill trapped in a different time zone, can the Doctor make it to her before it is too late, and who are all those people getting cured?

Synopsis

As if the death of his best friend wasn't enough, the Doctor's situation has only gotten worse. What initially started as an attempt to help clear someone of a false murder charge has evolved into to something much worse.

Now trapped in an old rusty castle in the middle of an ocean, the Time Lord is being stalked by a mysterious creature that only pauses when he gives up his deepest secrets. What does this thing want? And can the Doctor escape and find his way back home?

i’ve been into doctor who for eight or nine years. since this year was technically about me embracing cringe and making ocs i would make when i was younger, i decided to make a time lord oc... but only because i busted out my copy of “how to be a time lord” again.

this character has taken on the alias of “the pioneer” due to an inside joke, but tends to introduce herself as “pie” because she’s tired of explaining what she’s supposed to be a pioneer of. according to her, as far as anyone should be concerned, pie is her real name.

i like to imagine she crouches on tables sometimes, is extremely affectionate with her tardis, and will use pet names/nicknames if she likes someone. :3

Something something about the Third Doctor and the fate of Tantalus. You're trapped in one place. Everything you want, that you once took for granted is right there in front of you, you can see it you can reach for it but you can never have it. You will never attain it on your own. Your fate is dependent on the mercy or cruelty of others and you hate it and you rage against it but you can’t do anything, your defiance is treated like nothing but a childish tantrum but you refuse to beg, you won’t get that desperate no matter how long you’re trapped here, no matter how low you’re brought down. I am once again going down the rabbit hole of trying to figure out the ages of the Gallifrey characters

okay, so I'm still not interested at all in the 60th, but I have one big irk. the whole apparent 'ten's face reappearing is because of trauma' thing. because like... why ten's face? the one who lingered on and on, got a skipped regeneration himself thanks to the hand, got plenty of time to come to terms with his death, and died saving a dear friend from death? and even then died after getting to say goodbye to everyone?

It just makes me think the Fugitive!Doctor would have been so much better for it. That's a doctor whose face might flash. She's the face that tips the Doctor off to their longer history. The tipping point for 13's whole Division journey, that led her through so much. Fugitive is likely also the 'end' of that run of the doctor, meaning she was probbaly wiped and then afterwards or some faces later because the current Doctor's run (from 1-13 I mean). Especially as Fugitive is more tied to classic in presentation and timing - that would have been perfect for a celebration of all of DW. Could have even had ten as a flash-face, or something like a reflection which guided this Doctor back into Donna's life if the nostagia bait was so important. And tbh, how cool would it have been to have the first black doctors together, Fugitive giving way to Gatwa?

(Eccelston would never agree to star, but even he would be a good choice, considering how his story ended).

Like. I'm not here to actually debate why ten/dt was chosen. I just think if you're going to go for 'oh no the doctor's traumatised let's flash the face that literally had it's time'... maybe there were better choices that weren't just the most popular white man coming in to overshadow the rest of dw.

Okay I know it's not guaranteed by any means, and it's common enough for reds to survive a good while after turning red, but wouldn't it be funny if Martyn were to also be the first out of the game in Secret Life? The canary curse broken by the previous winner because the Watchers are just that done with Martyn's shit by now or whatever

rotating in my mind the very real possibility that after missy regenerated into spymaster, one of the very first things to happen to spymaster might have been meeting nardole.

I really do think the masters identity crisis started with Missy, the timeless child thing was just the final tipping point. I like to incorporate the Lumiat big finish story into this too

In missys seasons we see her trying to become better and earn the doctors trust but the way they go about this isnt really healthy or good. Missy sacrifices her autonomy and ultimately attempts to sacrifice her personality, mainly with the intent of gaining the doctors trust. She isn't just trying to become better, she's trying to be more like the doctor.

Then in the Lumiat, she quite literally cuts off parts of her personhood to try and make a version of herself that she thinks would be more appealing to the doctor. But it sort of goes too far, while I do think there's still a little bit of the master in her, the Lumiat is too far removed from who they really are, and to make things worse they had lost a big chunk of their memories during the regeneration

So after all that the masters identity is probably already pretty unstable. They've spent the last many years losing themselves piece by piece trying to make themselves more like the doctor. I imagine finding out about the timeless child felt like losing whatever speck of himself he had left.
