what louis did to lestat and what louis did to armand are connected and that's important to the story but also. it is simply not the same. nothing louis did excuses armand's behaviour, that's not how anything works, but he did not "cross a line" or "poke at armand," he weaponized armand's history of abuse to belittle and demean him. nothing armand said to louis came close- the equivalent would have been "oooh, i'm such a stupid bitch that my husband can beat me half to death and i'll keep crawling back for more even when it endangers my daughter!" it's retraumatizing and deeply destabilizing to hear that shit from your partner. and in response armand should have been like "well this man sucks when he's high and he's high all the time, so i'm bouncing" but if he'd done that we wouldn't have a story, would we?
edit: i've come back to give armand credit for "claudia didn't love you like we did/do. ps. u used her to distract from your own hurt feelings" that shit does hit in a similar way. however "the ways someone hurt you have left you contemptible and weak. they scrawled 'dirty and annoying' all over your soul in red ink and it's never coming off" is just outstanding work. timeless

#awful hospital#text post#shitpost#okay but—#a group of people who want everything to go back to the way it was and try to kill (literally) and erase any chance#I have to believe it was intentional#Jay is a truly wonderfully written and despicable villain because not only is he literally evil through killing and verbal abuse#he’s FIGURATIVELY EVIL in the CONTEXT OF THE THEMING because he SEES and is FULLY AWARE OF the injustices of the Hospital and its treatment#but instead of mobilizing that rage he has to make a change he says fuck it there’s nothing I can do and feeds into that corruption +#actively perpetuates it for his own gain and purposes#HE is a BIG PART of why the Hospital is failing by killing patients#it’s not just apathy it’s weaponized spite for all the wrong reasons#he’s an oppressed minority (a human in the Hospital) who grifts off all the fear and uncertainty#to get what he wants#crash is an apathetic and centrist youth who was radicalized by Fern showing him change could be made#but it was already too late#he felt isolated by all the people in change being blind to injustice and that led him to become being disillusioned#Jay and crash show that while being apathetic and refusing to take a stance even when you see injustice isn’t seen as causing as much#direct physical harm as grifting off misfortune it’s still equally as damaging#crash says I can’t fix it so I won’t do anything#while jay says I can’t fix it so who cares if I make it worse as long as I’m getting mine#I should at least get something from this since I’m suffering from it right?#but they ARE also very much sides of the same coin in a more direct way because they both make people suffer for their own gain#crash is doing it for a sense of petty amusement and Jay is doing it because he needs to have control#and power over SOMETHING by putting others down even if he’s also#doing it for amusement#he’s scared and pathetic which has made a control freak#again jay is a fucking minority grifter who asserts power over those who are also less#fortunate to affirm to himself that he’s one of the good and superior ones#crash just wants to have fun and make the best of it even if that’s at the expense of others

I do have to say that I’m in love with every single one of the main characters in this show.
#Luffy is a character that in another genre would be the goofy sidekick but instead he’s the main character and can never die#and honestly I love that for him#Nami is a girlboss and the smartest person in the room by default#Zoro is an emo sword boy but in a fun way#Ussop is incredibly charming and I love the fact that he’s the only one with any romantic storyline#I even like Koby even though I’m only 4 episodes in and there’s a lot of potential for him to fuck things up#but he’s so conflicted and also genuinely wants to do the right thing#I’m very interested to see his storyline#honestly I even kind of like Helmeppo#just a pathetic loser of a man#also I know Shanks is only in flashbacks but he could fucking Get It#also the villains so far have been legitimately creepy#but then the show ends up being very uplifting and wholesome without any emotional whiplash#also sorry to the fans of the original I am new here and I’m sorry if I am mischaractering your blorbos#I’m just a big fan#opla

I've been reading and watching some reviews of Oppenheimer and am shocked at the way some people don't seem to be able to connect to characters who are a little bit closed off and inwardly complicated.
This is a film you need to bring your own empathy to. It isn't actively provoked and drawn out of you.
Which, given that it deals with the construction of the Atomic Bomb, I think is something that should be self explanatory. If you go into making this thinking "Oh I will make people feel so bad about the bombs" you're already headed in the wrong direction. It's not the question whether or not it's bad. The question is whether or not you realize it's bad when no one tells you outright how to think about it.
This movie is incredible for doing this.
#oppenheimer spoilers#oppenheimer#also it is very much not impartial or distant or anything like that#there's razor sharp opinions in the details; the script is fucking amazing#they just don't jump in your face with it; you gotta notice for yourself#I see in this movie a tiredness of needing to discuss baselines of human decency#'if you cannot recognize for yourself that constructing a bomb like this is horrible then I have no patience to discuss it with you'#is a sentiment I felt very hard throughout the whole thing#people paying attention to it will notice the affirming details#and it's a delight how simple it is in terms of many other things#it's amazing how good Nolan becomes when he's not trying to make another gimmick movie for once#I had so much fun in the theater and it was horrible#how can you have fun knowing what it all means#incredible experience. pretty upsetting. I cried on the way home#can recommend it for people who are a little bit tired of flashy emotional symphonies in movies#and for people who like to start analyzing and reflecting while the film is still running#and honestly for people who like pretty movies#because honestly this movie was very very beautiful in the best oldschool simplistic way#(maybe slightly tasteless side note: Cillian Murphy would make an amazing Frankenstein)#(pathetic wet rat of a man (tragic and unhinged variety))

I saw your post about Free to Be You And Me, and had to stop and blink for like thirty straight seconds, because I could not for the life of me even remember what Dean was doing in that episode. That was the episode with hunters and Lucifer all stalking Sam! That was the Lucifer showing up as Jess and appealing to all of Sam's guilt episode! It was the Sam spitting out demon blood episode! It was the talk about addiction with a stranger in the middle of nowhere episode! Who watches that and thinks about anything other than Sam?!

#sorry for yelling at you but i do think you should make your own post#if you want an aroace character ryusui is right there and hes literally aroace flag coloured hes my favourite character hes so awesome#i dont see senku as aroace but i do see him as incredibly pragmatic and amazing at compartmentalising. romance is so far off his list of#priorities that he had never even thought about sex or dating. Hes the kind of guy who is fully able to abstain from earthly pleasures just#because he has more important shit to be doing (science) but meeting tsukasa made him feel some shit for the first time in his life#a guy whos strong and smart and hot and can keep up with him. someone whos a challenge to go up against someone so fun and electric#and this great and awesome guy says the most pathetic things in the world sometimes. its very clear that tsukasa made a deep impression on#senku. outside of romantic affection. senku was gentle to tsuaksa is a way that you dont see with other characters. at hakodate he tells#taiju and yuzuriha they might have to kill tsukasa but after that ? absolutely 0 talk of killing. hearing tsukasa say he has no friends#literally did something to senkus brain i genuinely believe he wanted very badly to be tsukasas friend like outside the context of shipping#just as something that happened in canon its clear that senku was thinking a LOT about tsukasa trying to unpack his motivations and charact#yes tsukasa is a killer but senku insists hes still a good guy. he doesnt write him off as a villain and he does not want to be his enemy#seconds before snapping his neck tsukasa is like maybe you would have been my friend and senku instead of being like hell no/ur delusional#he was like maybe :3 senku also tends to be sarcastically flirty but his pre stone wars dialogue with tsukasa was pushing it (also worth#noting that he was responding in kind to something that tsukasa initiated. whether or not its romantic theres definitely chemistry) when#tsukasa falls senku literally ran to catch him so they could fall together (which could mean nothing) hes tender to tsukasa in a way that h#isnt with the others he literally insists on making small talk with tsukasa on his deathbed because they never got a chance to know each#other and it clearly ate at him. Senku doesnt pursue people unnecessarily. He already had tsukasa in his pocket and he still made the effor#to keep him company so he wouldnt have to die in a silent cave. the guy who wouldnt even let his oldest friends thank him decided that he#wanted to make small talk (MASSIVELY ooc unless you consider... maybe tsukasa matters a lot more to senku than hes openly said...)#i think tsukasa was someone that senku found extremely difficult to ignore. Hes a guy who wants to save everyone and that what makes him so#awesome. romance will Never Ever be his first priority but his vow of celibacy kind of wobbled a little when it came to tsukasa#I see him as arospec homosexual myself because i think he has a very nonstandard view of romance as a whole but i also think that tsukasa#was the first guy ever that he could see himself with and even then if tsuaksa didnt want a relationship then senku would have been happy#watching from a distance after all he put so much effort into keeping tsukasa safe (read vol 12 boichis authors note)#like i fucking get projecting on a character i also fell deeply in love with tksn because me and my best friend dearly wanted to have known#each other earlier and that was such a beautiful and romantic sentiment that i saw reflected in tsukasen thats why i became obsessed#but senku 'strange behaviour' wrt tsuaksa has always stuck out to me ... he never acts like this with anyone else its gotta mean something#i dont think they were ever mortal enemies even at worst. tsukasa still had to bite his tongue not to call senku his friend when they were#in the throes of war. they meant something to each other. romantic or not they meant something very precious to each other

───〃★ Telling your roommate Gojo that you had a date tonight seemed like a good idea, up until his face twisted into a very unhappy expression. His foot tapping impatiently against the floor as you get ready to go out, face sour as his eyes track your movements.
Turning to look at him, you snap, “Stop looking at me like that.”
“Like what?” He’s playing dumb.
“Like you hate me.”
“I don’t hate you,” the frown on his face only deepens.
You walk over to him, “I didn’t say you did; I said you’re looking at me like you do.”
He ignores your correction in favour of whining, “Do you have to go out?”
“No,” you squint pointedly at him, “I want to.”
“You like this person?”
Thinking on it for a moment before answering, “Not really but I like going out and feeling pretty.” Patting his shoulder, you add, “I shouldn’t be home late, we can hang out when I get back.”
Turning on your heel, you start towards the door only to be tugged back by Gojo’s hand on your wrist. Wordlessly, he pulls you into his chest and you stumble at the sudden change. When you look up at him, you go to complain about being stopped but he doesn’t give you the chance. Both his hands grab either side of your face, his lips crashing against yours in a heated kiss.
You’re stunned for a moment before you return his kiss, his lips are insistent and messy, barely giving you the chance to match him before he switches up on you. Pulling a gasp from you when he sucks on your lower lip, he’s making you feel tingly all over.
“Gojo, what–”
He’s cutting you off again, kiss deep as he licks into your mouth. One hand moving to grip your hip, pulling you in closer. Mindlessly, you wrap your arms around his neck, leaning up into him. You’re beginning to feel delirious, drunk on his full kisses. So sloppy and desperate in how he nips and licks at you, pulling quiet and pathetic whines from you.
Gojo doesn’t want to part from you, he wants to keep kissing you stupid, he wants to do so much more but he’s feeling mean. Parting from your lips with a wet pop, he delights in how ruined you look by his sweet kiss. String of saliva connecting your lips together that he licks away.
“You look pretty,” he smiles, “Have fun on your date.”
You blink slowly back at him; he knows damn well you can’t go on your date anymore. Not with kiss swollen lips and a head full of thoughts of him. It doesn’t dawn on you until he’s walking away cheerily that this was his intention all along.
