I've offically come full circle a decade later since I'm back hyperfixating on the Arthurian legend distracting myself from everything and listening to the same music as my 14 year old self was. But hey at least I have the confidence in drawing them now.

I love them so so dearly I'm going just a little insane, I'm sorry to everyone who doesn't know me beyond my usual fandoms, you have to put up with what rearranged my brain chemistry when I was a kid.
This started as just a few of the knights, Lancelot, Gawaine, and Galahad and then it became: "Oh but then I should draw __" and here we are. My designs are all over the place and I cannot be bothered to actually draw armor I'll die i just want to draw pretty patterns. But I think the mismatch of clothing styles and all that makes it cohesive?
And I'm going with Malroy and T.H White influence as it's what I know best, that being said all the boys have their coat of arms alluded to in some way but you might have to squint.
(my laptop absolutely hates me for this one. imagine exporting a file and then having to manipulate the sizing 3 times for it to even be able to upload anywhere, couldn't be me. I don't even know how to show the full thing..)

sonic and shadow can have one more baby as a treat, but its gonna look kinda like black doom and its name is gonna imply that hes gonna kill king arthur who is sonic,,just how it goes cant change this
do not worry tho, take this drawing of him and his siblings,,so happy
#i think ive kinda formulated their characters in my head#heather is a human who wants to be more and actively goes head to head with other mobians who are much stronger and keeps pace with sonic#they transfer to a human school for high school and she is shocked to learn that human teenagers typically cannot punch or kick down walls#june is a hedgehog whos very chill with human life and loves relaxing and decorating his room like a teenage girl for self care#and shadow also gifts him pastel painted weaponry to display.unloaded.sonic would do unspeakable things to shadow if they had ammo#mordred is more stoic but still a sweetheart and upon learning what the black arms are he tries his best to be what black doom wasnt#if not for the world then because it makes his mom shadow knowing that hes nothing like his grandfather even tho shadow loves him anyway#so cute.anyway yeah merlina says that king arthur will be killed by his son mordred and i think at the end sonic is the true king arthur#and that does not deter my from naming him that no matter how sweet he is#sonadow fankid

Another snippet from my Flipping the Coin au. Probably won’t make it into the actual fic, but I’ve been obsessed with these two and keep finding myself writing moments like this ^^
…
Mordred was sprawled over Arthur’s chest, with his thumb tucked in his mouth, and blue eyes serious as he listened to the story with the gravity of a judge. The two of them are slumped in their favorite armchair, the red velvet blotchy from numerous spilled drinks, sticky snacks, and misguided attempts at crafts. It was too warm for a fire, but in the dim evening, with the lone table lamp for light and the window cracked open for a breath of air, it took Arthur back to countless evenings spent in another room. One built of stone and lit only by candle flame.
Aloud, Arthur read, “Because he was the king…”
Personally, it wasn’t his favorite retelling, but Mordred had seen his name on the cover and insisted on hearing it, so he had conceded. Maybe he should’ve waited until Mordred was older before telling him that there were stories about characters who shared their names, but in these last few years, the events from long ago had been so close to mind Arthur had wanted to share it. He assumed Mordred would fixate on the sword fighting and tournaments. Instead, Mordred had picked a book that started with babies being sent out to sea.
“Two by two, he carried—“
Mordred pulled his thumb out of his mouth. “Did you really do that?”
“No.” Arthur marked his spot with a finger and ruffled the thick, black curls. Still damp from the bath, they were in need of a comb. And soon, if Arthur hoped to avoid dealing with tangles. “I never did that.” Dipping his fingers to tickle the back of Mordred’s neck, he smiled as Mordred giggled and tried to escape. “I could never.”
Sitting up, Mordred’s knobby limbs found all of Arthur’s soft spots as he settled knees first on top of Arthur’s chest. “If you had to, could you?”
“Would you,” Arthur automatically corrected.
“Would I?” Mordred’s pitch went comically high. “Nooooooo! Would you!”
Arthur gave him a look, one that Mordred immediately leaned in and mimicked with a giggle. “Would I, Arthur Penn, a man far removed from the ancient past, cast a boat full of babies into the ocean? Absolutely not.”
“What if Merlin told you to?”
He’d never had to. History hadn’t played out like that. But Arthur couldn’t tell his young son that he definitely knew it hadn’t happened because he couldn’t even explain his own past and all that entailed. All Mordred knew was that his father was named after King Arthur, so that meant he’d been named after Mordred. Because they were father and son and that was how it was supposed to be. He didn’t know that in another life they hadn’t been related and that the first time Merlin met Mordred he had helped save him.
“Nope.” Arthur popped the ‘p’. Out of Mordred’s sight, he set the book on the ground. It was time for a better story anyway. “Not even then.”
“What if Merlin did it?”
“Listen, let me tell you about the—“ He almost said ‘the Mordred I knew’ but luckily stopped. Instead, he says, “—the story I heard. It took place when Uther was still king. The first time Arthur met Mordred he was only a little boy…”
#bbc merlin#flipping the coin#arthur pendragon#mordred#father son relationship#arthur lives au#look arthur being mordred’s father is becoming a critical component to this au#it’s helping arthur heal from his unaddressed trauma with uther#it’s also preparing arthur for the sudden reappearance of everyone he loves#sure there’s going to be the most awkward moment ever when mordred regains his memories of his past life#and everyone’s going to be like HUH????? when they hear mordred call arthur dad#but just picture arthur being naively oblivious to everything you’re supposed to do as a parent in the modern world#he doesn’t send mordred to school until he’s about 7 or 8 because no one ever told him he was supposed to#he reads books to him that are not age appropriate because a book is a book#not to mention he won’t bat an eye at playground violence because that’s what he did as a boy#what do you mean you’re supposed to play nice even if the other kid started it????#side note i need to come up with a tag for these two#additional note: the passages arthur is reading comes from I Am Mordred#because that seems like a book arthur would read to a young mordred without realizing the themes aren’t meant for such a young child#especially when that child shares the same name as the protagonist#nothing like starting your kid out in life by reading a book that begins with their father trying to kill them

Durge that was a beast before they got abducted. Slaughtering enemies, endulging all their hedonistic desires, a whisper in the night whose mere name would horrify those that heard it. Who maybe found Gortash annoying in his prattling but ultimately valuing his wants aligning with their own and how he'd never once stop their actions.
Strolling back into baldurs gate post amnesia; wide eyed, helping the elderly, calling their dark urge "the family member no one likes at a reunion", eating food they found of the ground, introducing every friend they made by name and impulsively punching Gortash when Karlach almost cries.

when Tom first jokingly called himself Mordred I assumed he'd destroy camco via joining and then being himself and (potentially accidentally) tearing it apart from the inside out. that it would become his insignia.
but it never did. tom didn't outright destroy camco, and his impact wasn't only limited to camco. he destroyed it by enabling the destruction of the system that created and perpetuated camco's existence--and not even on purpose. it's just how thinks worked out
i'm not an expert on camelot mythology, but from what i've looked up mordred and arthur mutually destroy each other. and I cannot help thinking of Blackburn crashing his ship in assured mutual destruction. and I cannot help thinking of how it was first Tom who was the Ghost in the Machine before Blackburn took the title. and how maybe that means the foreshadowing of Mordred was only partially meant for Tom. that the Ghost wasn't the only title Blackburn took
#the insignia trilogy#catalyst spoilers#s.j. kincaid#finally finished this post that's been sitting in my drafts for a hot minute#you'd think a character who jokingly calls himself mordred. the person who destroyed camelot. a character who wants#to /join/ something named camelot company#would be quite foreshadowing#but it's too on the nose#that's not what being mordred means#tom is mordred to an extent#but the titles tom took on were only ever partly his#he created the ghost but blackburn WAS the ghost#he started mordred's arc but blackburn finished it#do you see what I mean do you get what I'm getting at

My disaster Tav team! From left to right:
Mordred: Banished noble, escaped imprisonment after being caught performing necromancy. Entitled and egotistical.
Malice: Terrifyingly sadistic Dark-Urge, loves to make men beg.
Mallory: Evil little shit, mischievous and cruel. Has unresolved trauma that's left him emotionally stunted.
Rosewood: Silly little bard who's with The Wrong People and is scared for his life every damn day. Adds much needed levity to the squad.
Mallory loves to annoy everyone, though he picks on Rosewood most. He steers clear of Malice, but every now and again he will pull tricks on Mordred and luckily escape some near-death retaliation.
Malice scares everyone and Rosewood is the worst at hiding it. Every conversation is awkward, pressured speech, and hasty exits. She finds it cute so she lets him live. Mordred also fears her, however he hates that and constantly challenges her in order to assert some kind of authority. They hate each other and are both vying to be the self-appointed leader of the group. You wouldn't guess it but they fuck on the regular.
Mordred would've killed Rosewood on sight had he not recognised him. As a well-read noble, Mordred is more than aware of Rosewoods literary work and is actually quite a fan. Funnily enough, Rosewood is a prolific children's author, writing stories of heroes and princesses. These were the books Mordred grew up on and still loves to this day. Speaking to Rosewood is about the only time anyone really sees Mordred brighten up, he's like an excitable child when talking of his favourite childhood stories. That is until he remembers himself and returns to his cool facade.
Rosewood likes Mordred but keeps a healthy amount of fear of him, as he should. He once pondered aloud about having his most famous series end in the heroes tragic demise... Mordred only had to give him a murderous look before Rosewood decided it was in his best interest to make it a happy ending instead.
#bg3#baldur's gate 3#Tav#OC#Mordred#Mallory#Malice#Rosewood#dark urge#They're my sillies.#Not sure if it was obvious or not but re: Mordred/Malice she is domming him to next Wednesday. Eviscerated one might say. To shreds.#Mallory and Mordred have sibling dynamic. Mallory pulls some dumb shit and Mordred comes terribly close to killing him. This happens daily.#Rosewood is terrified of them but if anything happened to him these guys would commit and awful lot of atrocities in his name.#That's THEIR emotional support bard.#Mallory thinks Malice is pretty and gets big puppy eyes when he's around her. He has no idea what else to say/do other than to stare.#Rosewood attempts to play therapist with these guys. He truly is the 'I can fix them' teammate.

To the crowd gathered at the Ragnarok's send-off, before they headed to Ultima, Mordred repeated Venat's words.
"Lands that stretched on forever. Skies one could drown in. The heartbeat of nature, silent yet strong," he said. Looking at them and past them, at the faces of those who were lost, those who had gone before.
But he finished with:
"And amidst it all, you. Beacons of light and life. Knaves and nobles, vagrants and heroes, and the ordinary many by whom life's tapestry is woven and given shapes and colors. Your laughter, your resilience, your tears and your dreams, all that you have shared with me and those shed for me.
"You are my purpose and my meaning. My love."
#meowdred surana#and at that moment krile was sure that there was no way he could lose#she didnt exhale until she got him back though lmfao#venat's love for mankind and the world felt both all encompassing and abstract in that quote and mordred strongly shared that love#but his love had faces. they had names. every one lost left its mark.#anyway rattles around the way mordred and venat differ and juxtapose each other.

The knight stood by the doorway to the infirmary, staring up at the sky as it slowly started filling up with stars.
How he felt about this hermit... the feelings were akin to the feelings when he's sometimes by Percival. Do they mean anything? ... No, they can't be. He had just met this stranger. These feelings are nothing more than a fluke. They'll pass.
Galahad shakes his head, then headed back inside, making sure to grab the water he promised before making his way back to the other's room.
"I'm back." He softly announced to the other before heading back to the chair and sat down. Handing the hedgehog the cup full of water before sitting back and crossing his arms.
He was quiet, until something occurred to him. "I haven't asked for your name yet, have I? What is it?"
[Sir Galahad starter for @asktheevilgeniusesson ]
Sir Galahad had been tracking down this monstrous dragon for days now. Hearing word that the dragon was terrorizing villages, the young squire set out to go slay the beast.
He was told he was foolish for going after such a beast, and was told stories of this horrid monster and how it burned down villages, but that wasn't enough to deter the young knight, if anything, the stories fueled his determination to put an end to its reign of terror.
His fellow knights also told him he was being foolish and he's to not take on this quest as he was still fairly new, Percival even tried to dissuade him from taking this quest, but he ignored the other knights, and only pretended to listen to Percival, before sneaking away once the knights were at rest to take on his quest.
Thanks to a traveler, Galahad had been given directions to the location of the dragon's den, and now here he was, standing just outside the very cave the beast is said to be in.
It sets in for the young knight. He's really about to do this. He's about to go into the belly of the beast, alone.
There's no turning back now. He didn't come all this way for nothing. He goes in.
Using the glow of his psychic powers, he navigated his way through the dark cavern. Galahad was a ways in until he saw an orange light further in.
This was it.
He takes a deep breath, steels himself, then let out a war cry as he and his blade goes charging forward.
Imagine his confusion when he finds no dragon, but he does find a grumpy blue hedgehog that made this place his home. "What? You're no dragon."
#[Response]#asktheevilgeniusesson#The Knight and the Dragon#((It'd be a good idea to tell him a fake name in case he recognizes the name Mordred.))

Put thee not on Silent
[ID: A 4 panel comic made of digital paintings of a zoom meeting between the knights of the Round Table.
Sir Galahad, Queen Guinevere, Sir Gawain, Sir Lancelot, Sir Bedivere, have their own individual screens, and one screen shows a conference room with King Arthur, Sir Mordred, and others who are not named.
Both Sir Lancelot and Queen Guinevere have their cameras turned off, and microphones muted, the entire time.
Panel 1 shows King Arthur with a few of his knights, with Sir Mordred brooding beside him in shadows, and a hand reaching from offscreen to steal snacks from a bowl.
Sir Galahad has his microphone muted, and is in a forest, looking up and to the side. He has brown hair up above his head and very pale skin.
King Arthur asks, "Sir Gawain, canst thou see the PowerPoint slides?"
Panel 2 shows Sir Gawain, who has brown skin, black hair, green clothes, and heterochromia, with one green eye and one dark, replies, "Verily I cannot, I think it be a miasma of the sight."
Behind him for the background is a section from the Green Knight manuscript, showing faded lettering and a green knight on a green horse standing in front of someone with a large axe while a crowd of spectators watch from the sides.
Sir Galahad's screen is now slightly motion-blurred, showing a reddragon's open mouth in front of Sir Galahad's face.
Panel 3 shows Sir Bedivere, labeled Tech Support, who wears a blue shirt and a plumed knight's helm, looking exhaustedly into the camera, pushing his helmet visor up with one hand. He is lit by blue light and has bags under his eyes, asking: "Hast thou sharest the screen?"
His background is of a library. Sir Galahad's screen is now taken up by the motion-blurred side of the dragon that is attacking him.
Panel 4 shows Sir Gawain turned slightly to the side, looking derisively at the camera, saying: "Yea, but I cannot hear Sir Galahad."
The only thing left in Sir Galahad's screen is the motion-blurred, spade shaped tail tip of the dragon chasing him.
End ID.]

I adore it when Merlin goes away for a few days in a fanfic and all hell breaks loose
Arthur is grumpy because he misses Merlin and he hates it when anyone other than Merlin dress him. His hair is a mess and his clothes are crumpled, he’s missing one shoe but no one wants to tell him
The knights are walking in eggshells around him. Leons hair is going grey, and Lancelot is seen drinking wine during the council meetings
Gwaine is missing presumed dead
The kitchen is in a disarray, the usual schedules and menus are not being updated now that Merlin is gone
Bills have not been paid and new orders are not coming in. The merchants and fishermen are pissed. No one realises how much Merlin is actually on top of and how many people he has in his network
The Head Steward is scrambling to keep up with all the work Merlin seemingly did in his spare time. Some servants are wandering aimlessly with no tasks provided, while others are busy trying to finish up all the chores Merlin does in his sleep
Somehow the Kingdom is still standing (but just barely)
George is crying into the laundry (they ran out of soap two days ago because no one was instructed to make more) Merlin was always on top of these small things that most people overlooked — but now that he was gone, everything crumbled
Gwen could probably fix most of these issues, but has instead decided to go on strike on principle
There have been seven failed assassination attempts on the King. The Royal Spymaster is fired once Leon realised that Merlin is the unofficial spymaster
When The Royal Library and Mapmakers Guild requested a substitute scribe for the few days Merlin was away, everyone looked confused. For how long has Merlin helped them out too? Elyan volunteered, if only to get out of training
Mordred considers moving back in with the Druids and leave Camelot (this is not what he signed up for)
The council is in hiding for fear of further angering the King — one Lord mentioned Merlin by name and Arthur threatened to banish him, and since then no one has dared to speak his name again
Gaius officially retires and moves into a cottage
Merlin returns three days later like “what happened?!”
