was thinking about how hua cheng was a violent menace to society pre-3rd ascension - like the rumors weren't wrong or just about the 33 gods, cuz even just in the early reverend of empty words arc as he's going through the list sqx gives xie lian, he's like 'oh no yeah i killed this guy, this guy, this guy, he xuan killed this guy, i killed this one too... ....like they deserved it tho gege. you'd get it if you were there'

and he's always been a little psychotic, like he as a small child survived a whole assault on the battlefield -in front of xie lian, ie didn't just survive by basis of xie lian being so strong- and was like, slaughtering what had to have been grown men. he killed people(and we know he did, he never got the face disease despite coming in direct contact with the first victims and also becoming a nurse) and didn't even seem fazed by it, even while xie lian himself was trembling afterward about having killed people for the first time, 7 years his senior and having grown up with a sword in his hand.

so like. do you guys think he ever gets like that now. like after the honeymoon phase ends and xie lian insists on going back to scrap collecting because he can't just stay idle forever (and we know he still does this given the bedtime story extra), hua cheng starts causing trouble if his gege's not around.

half of me feels like he wouldn't wanna make his gege disappointed in him so he wouldn't get too bad but i can't shake how funny it would be if the heavens have to beg xie lian to take hua cheng with him on scrap collecting trips, like an unruly child that cannot be trusted alone and won't react well to babysitters

dreamtales favoritism

ok, we all know canon dreamtale is a mess, but i want to point out the blatant favoritism towards dream.

Dream got his name cuz he was a dreamer. And nightmare? He got it cause hes the opposite of his brother. Tell me that isnt already fucked up.

He gets the most screentime, often steals the one of other characters as well (Nightmare *cough*)

hes the strongest and only he can defeat nightmare. Bruh

Dream is also always in the right, cause god forbid hes ever wrong or flawed. Like he doesnt trust ink anymore cause ink has different views than him. And the narrative SUPPORTS THIS (cause joku had a fight with comyet about drink so now she doesnt want anything to do with ink)

His only flaw is being "too kind" but it isnt really shown in the comic. At the start, maybe, but now its barely ever shown (I mean that his kindness is barely ever shown having consequences other than positive)

Hes also the knight and damsel in distress? Because joku says hes very strong yet she in rvery ship hes drawn in hes always a weak crybaby.

Casually he cant feel hate cause hes a "precious pure boy", like girl thats not how it works-

In conclusion: canon dream is clearly jokus favorite and that evolves in unfair writing. The only reason nightmare exists is to be evil and to give dream character developement (not defending that stinky goop man, just stating the obvious)

Apologies if this get too rambly (with a crossover between two of my favorite fandoms how could it not XD) but imagine all of the new situations the apple twins being around the disaster twins could create... I'm mainly thinking about what it would be like after Donnie makes his own wings

We know that Dream is disappointed that he doesn't have wings of his own (like Leo) in the FED au at least, so once he sees that Donnie can make the wings he would probably beg him to make some for himself

But I think this could lead to a few different situations, either Dream also doesn't realize that Leo also wants wings or he does, with his ability to sense Leo's emotions (assuming that applies here lol) he would probably realize what he wants and get Donnie to make both of them wings : D

Or, maybe he doesn't realize and only asks Donnie to make the wings for himself, in which case both Leo and Nightmare would be left without wings while their brothers are able to fly off without them... I love the potential interactions between Donnie and Nightmare but what would happen if Leo and Nightmare are the only ones left without wings? Or even if he asks for the wings to be made for himself and Leo but not Nightmare? 👀 (Possibly leading him to feel more outcast and becoming corrupted?)

INTRIGUING. I AM INTRIGUED.

That’s such a slippery slope of a situation, mostly due to who actually WANTS to fly. Dream does, absolutely, and obviously Leo. Donnie wants to defy God itself and his own genetics, that’s 99% of why he made wings. Meanwhile, Nightmare has no desire at all. The ground is nice, thank you. If anything, he’s learning that swimming is pretty neat, thanks to Leo. (It’s not as nice to Dream, feels weird with his fur).

BUT. Bro definitely has some abandonment issues. If all of the others could fly, including his brother, he’d likely feel left out. But if it was Leo and him that couldn’t fly, and Dream was too focused on new people and new friends and new wings to realize Leo’s inner turmoil, Nightmare definitely has.

He may not be a huge fan of Donnie, but he does like Leo. He’s teaching NM to swim. He has a lot of patience with NM, especially with his social anxiety and fear of new people. He’s actually very kind and considerate, knowing exactly what people need or feel without having the same emotional abilities the Apple Twins have! Even if he tries to cover up his softer sides with self confidence and annoying jokes, Nightmare would probably be the first to ever see right through that, talk to him about it, and get to hang out with a more real ass version of Leo.

Heck, bro probably has brought him on his portal flight runs before. Cuz Nightmare’s the only one who really understands that feeling of being left behind. Might as well show off this trick to someone that’ll fully understand the value of it and the complexities of performing it in the first place.

So yeah, he’s not a fan of Donnie. But he’d absolutely ask Dee to make Leo AND him a set of wings, so Leo can have his dream without having to expose himself to his brothers before he’s quite ready…
