here's some Hypno's Lullaby / Pokepasta characters in my style
some of my headcanons below!
Steven: 24 years old; 190 cm / 6'3''
- Haunted by a hallucination of his dead brother that constantly reminds him of his misdeeds
- Fluctuates between a completely corrupted state (shadowed skin + red eyes) due to MissingNo.'s influence and a semi-conscious state (shadowed eyes) in which he sometimes gets lucid enough to question what happened that day
Glitchy RED: 26 years old; 182 cm / 6'0''
- Face always half hidden by shadows
- Despises people abusing glitches or bugs and thus despises Steven
- Always looks serious
Grey: 16 years old; 167 cm / 5'6''
- Constantly nervous
- Somewhat scared of (Glitchy) Red but also looks up to him since he's from "the original game"
Shinto:
- Mischievous
- Despises people cheating through any means, including glitches and bugs
- She found out that Grey is actually a real human's soul forced to possess the player character of their game and thus believes his "cheating" to be his human soul simply not adhering to game rules, allowing him to catch her by accident
- Has taken a liking to Grey and will (unbeknownst to him) protect him from people intending to cause harm
- Still scares him sometimes for fun
(Monochrome) Gold: 19 years old; 170 cm / 5'7'' (when alive)
- Is incapable of actually dying, constantly stuck in a state of pain
- Sometimes the Unown within him will take over his body for whatever reason, otherwise they will function like a hive mind allowing him to see through their eyes and float with their help
(- This was caused by Steven, corrupted by the glitch MissingNo. after Gold had found him in the Bellsprout Tower)
(Insomnia) Silver: 20 years old; 175 cm / 5'9''
- Skin covers his mouth keeping him from speaking
- He can cut/rip it open, but it will grow back in around a minute
(- This was caused by Steven, corrupted by the glitch MissingNo. after Silver confronted him seeing what he had done to Gold)
Mike: 4 years older than Steven, (28 years old); 180 cm / 5'11''
- A remorseful spirit incapable of moving on, bound to Steven after his death
- Contrary to the hallucination Steven is seeing, Mike can only be perceived by Gold
- Furthermore he is convinced that the person who killed him wasn't his brother / that something had forced him to do it

Voretober Day 5: Woods
Don't wander too far into the forest, that's where the strongest Pokemon like to hunt.
When you stopped at the village’s Pokemon Center that afternoon, one of the townspeople warned you to take caution in the weald leading to the next route. She had said that it was teeming with ghost type Pokemon who preyed upon trainers who got in over their heads. This naturally had you curious. You already had to brave the haunted woods, and with two badges under your belt considered your growing team to be decently strong. Not to mention this would be a great opportunity to add a ghost type to the party. Already you were hoping to find a Misdreavus or Pumpkaboo, but you’d be happy with just about anything.
You set off into the Dismal Weald, your three Pokemon at full energy and bag full of potions and balls. The trees above stretched outwards like claws, dark leaves blocking out the late afternoon sunlight. The soft moans of ghost Pokemon were distant, enough to make your hair stand on end. It was appropriately eerie, but you pressed on. You weren’t scared of any ghosts!
As you ventured into the tall grass, taking out a few Bellsprouts and Pidoves, you found it odd that there weren’t many Pokemon around. Sometimes you caught a glimpse of a Gastly leering at you, only to vanish a split second later. You’d heard that a stronger Pokemon in the area might scare some of the others away…but what could be wandering around here that would frighten everything else?
The sudden feeling of a powerful presence sent a chill down your spine. Your confidence was melting away, the sound of a rumbling growl making you afraid to turn around. You wanted to just run, but it might get you lost in this shady place. Taking a deep breath, you gripped a Poke Ball and tossed it as you turned, releasing your Vulpix to stand against your foe. Immediately you wished you hadn’t.
A Dusknoir hovered mere feet away, his single red, glowing eye fixed on you. This Pokemon was way above your level, more than capable of sweeping your team. He didn’t look like he’d let you run away easily…you swallowed your nerves, deciding to just try and distract the ghost long enough to flee.
“Vulpix, use Incinerate!” you commanded. The fox nodded and exhaled a concentrated stream of flame at the towering spirit. He shrugged off the attack and lurched forward, the mouth on its belly opening up. While you braced yourself for an undoubtedly strong attack, something entirely worse happened. Instead of striking, a long, golden, spectral tongue slithered out of its mouth and wrapped around your Vulpix.
You stared in horror, unable to move an inch. Even if you could, would you have the heart to just run away and abandon your partner to her fate? As the Dusknoir floated closer, licking his lips, you snapped out of it and scrambled for your Bayleef’s Poke Ball. If you could just get one Sleep Powder off, you could try and save Vulpix! But you weren’t fast enough-Dusknoir held you tight in his large hands, preventing any sort of counter or escape.
You shuddered as the massive ghost pressed you against his large belly, giving a low, pleased rumble. That tongue, dripping with slime, pressed against your legs before slowly sliding its way all the way up your body. As the spectral muscle lapped up your face, you were left shivering within Dusknoir’s hold, painted in a thick layer of ectoplasmic saliva. Dusknoir gave another pleased rumble before wrapping his tongue around you, pulling you into his dark, gaping maw.
Your scream was swiftly muffled by the Dusknoir’s jaws clamping shut around you. You were sealed away in warm, damp darkness with no possible escape. You kicked as hard as you could, but it only created faint bulges on the outside of Dusknoir’s body. Fear seeped in as you thought about all those stories of the Gripper Pokemon devouring souls, leaving only the body behind. Were you destined to die young? Was this the Reaper claiming you, or a mere accident that would spell the end of your journey?
There was a nuzzle against your side and a whimper. You had almost forgotten about Vulpix, now as slimy and frightened as you were. She snuggled up into your arms as you hugged her, taking some comfort in her natural warmth. You felt awful about unintentionally condemning your beloved Pokemon to the same fate. Maybe if you were lucky, this wouldn’t hurt, maybe the afterlife wouldn’t be so bad…
Minutes passed, and nothing happened. You and Vulpix appeared completely fine, still very much alive. You were confused, but mostly relieved. There still wasn’t any way out…it was still dark, and all you could make out was that large, thick tongue resting underneath you. The combination of darkness and warmth, both from the environment and the fire type you were hugging was taking a toll after a long day of traveling. Though you were hesitant, sleep was closing in on you. Maybe you could afford to close your eyes for a few minutes…
Outside, the Dusknoir gave a content purr as he rubbed over his stomach. He technically didn’t need to eat, and had no desire to take you or any of your Pokemon into the Spirit World. He simply loved the feeling of a warm, living being filling him up, and a trainer happened to be the perfect size. The ghost type patted his gut, floating off deeper into the Dismal Weald. For now you were safely tucked away-come sundown, you would wake up in a patch of flowers just outside the woods, completely unharmed and having a fourth Poke Ball resting in your hand…

When I first started watching other people play nuzlocks of Pokémon, it seemed like such a fun idea. But I don't have the patience or the emotional stamina to play a true nuzlock.
Because I'm looking for a distraction from life right now, I'm making my own challenge.
Da Rules
1. Every pokemon must be given a name (from nuzlocks rules). The name must stick with the challenge theme, including the trainer and rival characters.
2. I can catch one pokemon per route, but it must be the first I can successfully catch. Pokemon isn't cute? Oh well (that's the hard part for me). I can reroll on duplicate encounters, but duplicates are not off limits.
3. No leveling past the gym leader's ace (stolen from hardcore nuzlocks)
4. If possible, play without checking the internet for walk throughs (if I were really a trainer, I wouldn't have a walk through)
**Adding for a bit of context. I play Pokémon before bed because the game play mechanics of battling make me sleepy. So I try to update the night after but don't always get the chance. And a lot can happen in between updates. Oops.
My Challenge
Game: Pokémon Blue
Theme: Taylor Swift
Trainer: Taylor
Rival: Scooter
Pocket Monsters:
Charmander/Charmeleon- Change
Pidgey/Pidgeotto- Superman
Caterpie/Metapod/Butterfree- Betty
Pikachu- Electric Touch (ElctrcTuch)
Rattata/Raticate- Fearless
Spearow/Fearow- [the] Albatross
Magikarp/Gyarados- Picture to Burn (PictrTBurn)
Zubat- Haunted
Sandshrew/Sandslash- Ready For It
Bellsprout- Out of the Woods (OutOTWoods)
Meowth- Look What You Made Me Do (LWYMMD)
Drowzee- Who's Afraid of Little Old Me (WAoLOM) [well, you should be!]
Geodude- Bejeweled
Eevee/Vaporeon- It's Nice to Have a Friend
Vulpix- I Know Places (IKnoPlaces
Progress
11.6 Boulder badge earned! Ace was 14, my highest was 12. So I'm happy
11.27 Current Team: Superman (15), Electric Touch (14), The Albatross (12), Fearless (13), betty (11), and Change (14). Just wiped to a hiker on Mount Moon, so that stinks. But this is a challenge, not a nuzlock, so continue on we must!
12.13 Still grinding. But Charmander evolved.
12.16 Took a team to attempt the second gym but we were all underleveled. So I wiped to Misty. Oh well. Back to grinding. But now I know I can level up to 21.
12.23 I don’t think my game has been saving properly because I know I evolved Fearless and the Albatross previously but they just evolved (again) today. So I’ve been saving twice just in case. Right now, Haunted sucks. But Picture to Burn learned tackle so at least he can somewhat fend for himself now. But I have six mon leveled up to 21. So Christmas Eve, we challenge Misty!
12.26 I'm obviously forgetting to save because I earned the cascade badge on Christmas Eve but had to battle for it again last night. I led Electric Touch, also bringing Change, Superman, Betty, Fearless, and The Albatross. They were all L21 at the start of the battle, and Electric Touch completed almost all of it. I don't remember who exactly delivered the final KO, though.
1.1 Grinding. Again. I finished everything there was to do on the S.S. Anne. So I have cut. Misty said Pokémon will obey me up to level 30, but I'm not sure what Lt. Surge's ace is. But I'll feel it out.
1.2 So... I accidentally over leveled. I went in to the third gym with Ready For It in lead, and Fearless, Change, Electric Touch, Betty, and Superman rounding out the team, all at level 25. Surge's ace was level 24. Oops. But it's crazy to me he was only 3 levels higher than Misty. Oh well. I'm not gonna fret over it too much because I'm not doing any research, I'm going through blind. On to the next, I guess.
1.6 The tunnel was a pain in the dark, but I made it to Lavender Town. However, there's not much to do there without the silph scope. So I moved on to Celadon City. This is where the Team Rocket hideout is in the gaming corner. So I'm doing that now, but trying not to overlevel anyone. Also, I evolved my eevee so fast...

HC; The Modern Day.
So where can you spot this man? it's a wholly fair question. Gold isn't the type to really settle give his line of work. Being part of some secret org known as the Dex Holders often attunes to discovery, worldly protection, and a realm of adventure that can literally have him all across the planet. (Or some planes beyond. Pokemon never stops coming up with their unique circumstances and abilities.)
The lack of grounds however ensures a sense of ease that can spark meetings unexpected places. Keeping a steady and improving hands with companions, colleagues and conspirators, indulging on a personal quest for his own partner Pokemon or some new faces to help make ends meet, there's no shortage to how he'll operate.
That said there's a fair amount of in and out times you'll catch him in his home nation of Johto throughout a year's timespan. Visiting his ma and Pokemon family, prodding fun at those oddball Bellsprout monks, down to familiarizing himself with some tunes DJ Mary decks on the radio while visiting the game center, he holds a quieter pride in familiarizing himself within his old stomping grounds. Back during his days as a shrimp, things were so hectic there wasn't time to enjoy as much.
Things that haunt him, struggles that weighed heavy weren't really aligned with locations much as it was a measure of self reflection and looking within. Gold has been someone who has been his own big enemy compared to any criminal-esque foes his whims and goals drew him across. Turning that charisma factor from a deflective measure of shielding (keeping others out), to having it truly be an enjoyed aspect of him took time, knocks on the head, and the right people getting him on the straight and narrow.
Best part? The authenticity bleeds into his actions. There's a measure of 'Gold-ism' to how he operates, and despite how people come to explain it, it's more seamlessly felt when you spend some time with him.
His Pokemon will always be an avid reflection of that. You get the impression they're more of a team joined together, rather than a trainer leading his group.

The Sprout Tower, initially conceived as a place dedicated to the same tranquil atmosphere radiated by Bellsprout, was a popular haunt. While the monks that usually frequented the tower saw it as a place for contemplation and study, one particular ghost found himself drawn back here again and again. Perhaps, in what was otherwise a painful and peaceless postmortem, he could find some sort of respite here.
Or, maybe not, if the footsteps were of any indication.
He turned wordlessly, a single pale pinprick of white radiating from the black abyss of his scleras locking itself onto the figure. If Red listened closely, he could make out the faint sound of bones clicking as his head turned independently of the rest of his body. Shouldn't it have turned too if he was looking over his shoulder like that?
Thanks to the shadows cast by the Tower's limited lighting, his lack of legs wasn't immediately apparent, nor was the lack of fingers peeking out from within oversized sleeves.
He fully turns to face Red and Pikachu, his body slowly following his head as he did so.
Then, without warning, he steps - no, floats - into the light.
<starter for @gildead >
It's not often that Red went to Johto, really. Nothing against the place, but rarely did he have much of a reason to. Very few electric type pokemon that weren't found more easily elsewhere, and he had to cross that mountain range to get there. Still, he had a lot more reason now, comfortably nestled in his PokeBall on Reds belt.
Generally, Johto did have that spiritual undercurrent, similar to Sinnoh did. Differently, but it did have that undercurrent. And so, Red explored, finding those key points. Sitting with it, feeling that energy. Letting it guide him.
He wasn't sure what exactly compelled him to climb Sprout Tower, Pikachu unsteady on his shoulder. But called upward he was, and so Red climbed. It was an easy trip, really. Hazy, around the edges, that tell-tale sign of things shifting. Really, Red was a little nervous, not sure where he'd end up. But those nerves mostly left him when he spotted a somewhat familiar face.
Red cleared his throat as he came up on Gold, giving him ample time to hear him. Pointedly, he avoided eye contact- no challenge, at least right now. He waved in greeting, and Pikachu chattered in turn from his place on Reds shoulder.
Something buzzed faintly in the back of his head. This was definitely not the Gold he was familiar with, but... He couldn't quite place all the differences from this distance.

I really miss going to Steel City Con and buying hilariously bootlegged items.
Like, look at this. This brought me so much joy to buy for $1.99. And they always have that bin of horribly painted, miscolored little Pokémon figures where I once found a flesh-colored Bellsprout that haunts me to this day.

Thanks, fam! I actually think from their embarrassed mumbling that Birch has roots (pun so very intended) in Ecruteak. Would explain the singular Bellsprout.
Anyway, yeah, send em our way! Let's haunt the shit out of this park for a bit, that feels like a pretty Team Skull appropriate activity. Gotta be at least a little bit of a menace, right? If folks start kicking up a fuss about the number of ghosts, we'll just hit the road for a little bit and haunt our way back towards Ecruteak. Or maybe down towards the forest first, bet the little ones would love it there. The spooking is good in Ilex.
Good news guys! Team Skull....2! has its first new member. Their name is Birch and they have a Bellsprout because some people are just born stereotypical I guess. Alternatively their mom could have been a psychic. This IS Johto. Couldn't be me, my name was made for like a dragon tamer. Anyway, we met in the park and definitely not because we were both sleeping here. I snapped a shitty selfie in honor of their joining.
They have a trainer's license and, as mentioned, a single Bellsprout, so clearly training is working out as well for them as it did for me. Anyway, I'm working on finding us some skull accessories. It seems like we should look the part, inasmuch as we should have at least one skull on our person.
#pkmn irl#I promise not to spray paint the ghosts#I make no promises about temporary dip dying the ghosts#also I'm really glad the boss lady sent us like 10 hats#at this rate I'll be painting hoodies and bandanas by hand for weeks

Pokemon Yellow Nuzlocke Ch. 4: Rip Them Out, Root and Stem
While the Thunder Badge came at a great cost to our Pokemon vanguard, I feel a new resolve to strengthen our mission ahead of Celadon. We rendezvous east of Cerulean, cutting down shrubbery and the dreams of aspiring trainers alike.
The team and I step foot in the pitch black interior of Rock Tunnel, and José Carlos enlightens its inhabitants with a flash of brilliance. Pancho bumps into a Geodude, but I experience vivid flashbacks of Che's fatal encounter with Voltorb and decide to resist the urge to battle. As fate has it, I don't get through the cave without a perilous encounter. A trainer's two Geodudes self-destruct against Ramona in rapid succession, whose armor plated hide takes a bruising but prevents a KO. Too close of a call, but Lula's stoic expression tells me he knew his comrade would survive all along.
As we climb out the rocky depths and head south, the fog grows thick and the air hangs heavy with misery and mire. The memories of the fallen weigh like an alp on the inhabitants of Lavender, and many a trainer pays their respects to their comrades at the epicenter of death. "So many lost, but for what purpose?," I wonder aloud. "Their sacrifice will not be in vain," Lula replies "We owe it to Che and Pepe to see this journey through."
Before I can find an EMF sensor to scout out wayward souls, we have to head west through an underpass in order to reach Celadon. Along the way I catch a Jigglypuff who I name Diablo because well, it's a counterrevolutionary and I wasn't feeling creative at the moment. Celadon City greets us in all its luminescence and decadence, and Lula wonders allowed how many Pokemon were pushed out of their habitats to create this monument of urban sprawl.
I waste no time in heading to Celadon Gym to make our message of liberation heard in the floral house of the bourgeoisie. Before I can properly thrash Erika, however Fernando and Ramona are paralyzed and put to sleep by a Florist’s Bellsprout. They are wrapped for what felt like 50 or so turns since Gen 1 mechanics are a completely normal and healthy thing, and I save myself the headaches to let Rigoberta uproot the green fascists from the stem. Despite that debacle my team feels adequately leveled and the comrades are ready to square off against the laissez-faire lilacs of Erika, the spirit of Che coursing through our veins.
Pancho opens up against her Tangela, who quickly gets bogged down by constricts and mega drains to tap out for Rigoberta. Even Berta's cuts can't chop up the tangled glut of undergrowth! Fernando comes on high to throw sand in its eyes, sending it tumbling through a flurry of gusto. José Carlos swaps in to fight her own Weepinbell, channeling his spoon for a Psybeam, side stepping a nostalgic blast of powder, and hitting back with another psionic shock for a satisfying one-two mind punch. Finally her Gloom makes its stand against Ramona, who takes a direct sleep powder and several rounds of petal dance to its face. The Gloom suddenly thrashes in confusion at the contradictions of capitalism, and the comandante takes the opening to stamp out the weed once and for all, earning us the Rainbow Badge.
Halfway done with the Kanto league, I beam in pride at the members who have made it this far, and march east to discover what sort of specter haunts the Tower of Lavender.
-Weedkiller Spencer

ninetales, eevee, mewtwo, and arceus for the pokemon ask prompt :D
Which Pokemon do you think is the most beautiful?- Gosh, I never really think about it, but I just compiled a list of my favorites. When I think “beautiful”, I also think of what looks “elegant”, so Pokemon like Dragonair, Espeon, and Mienshao are more simplistic favorites. Florges and Xerneas are also really beautiful and more detailed. But one honorable mention is Froslass, who has the most beautiful and simultaneously haunting cry in the games.
Which Eeveelution is your favorite?- I think Umbreon has been my favorite forever, but I’ve grown to love Espeon a lot, and Sylveon is quite cute.
Who is your most powerful Pokemon?- I did a solo run of either Pearl or Platinum with a Torterra, and she has the highest level I’ve ever gotten any of my Pokemon to, at Level 86.At least, that’s what I thought before actually checking my box.Turns out my X Nuzlocke team are all also in their 80s. Aaron the Lucario is Lv. 85; La Adlerin the Hawlucha, Jack the Gourgeist, and Nylocke the Goodra are Lv. 84, Hecate the Aegislash is Lv. 83, and Snowflake the Aurorus is also 86. She has more HP than my Torterra, so technically she’s my strongest Pokemon!
What Poke-religion do you consider yourself part of (eg. Mewist, Arceusian, Bellsprout monk, etc)?- This might sound stupid, but for a brief period of time, I would use Arceus as a substitute in “Oh my God”, so idk if that answers that necessarily but it’s embarrassingly amusing to me. Whenever I think in terms of Pokemon religion, I would most likely follow the Hoenn trio of Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza or the Unova dragons of Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem.
