Why do all of the team principals look Old, Scraggly, Scared or Angry.
Like at any of the times it cuts to them on the broadcast it they embody at least two of those things.
I need an explanation as to why???

Summer Break Fastest Laps
What a crazy first half of the F1 calendar we have had not only in a Podium/standings standpoint but in a overall expectation versus reality standpoint.
One of the things I decided to track early on this season was 'Fastest Laps', this is something that just shows on a single lap during the race what a drivers fastest time was. I did not track what lap it was or any conditions just the team throughout the particular feature race on sunday.
HUGE SHOUT OUT TO ALEX, LOGAN, AND ZHOU BEING THE ONLY THREE OUT OF THE TOP 5 TEAMS TO HAVE "PODIUM" FASTEST LAPS. and Max's concisity but we all expect that.
Tumblr media
A few things you will see within this table:
At the bottom you will see Driver specific Average over all 14
On the far right you will see Circuit specific Average acorss all 20
In the team specific I Bolded and Italized the "winner" unless no time
I highlighted Fastest Purple as we do, and then Silver and Bronze
Driver A - Driver B - No contest due to less then 2 cars on track - ('Winner') Red Bull: 9 - 4 - 1 (Max) Mercedes: 9 - 5 (Lewis) Ferrari: 5 - 8 - 1 (Carlos) Mclaren: 9 - 5 (Lando) Aston Martin: 11 - 3 (Fernando) Alpine: 4 - 7 - 3 (Esteban) VCARB: 6 - 7 - 1 (Daniel) Williams: 7 - 5 - 2 (Alex) Hass: 6 - 7 - 1 (Kevin) Sauber: 5 - 9 (Zhou)
Only three teams where they have had both cars on track long enough to get Fastest laps recorded every Sunday (Mercedes, Mclaren, and Stake/Sauber).
"Podiums" Max: 1st place - 2, 2nd place - 4, 3rd place - 3 Sergio: 1st place - 1, 3rd place - 3 Lewis: 1st place - 2, 2nd place - 1, 3rd place - 1 Gerorge: 1st place - 2, 2nd place - 1 Charles: 1st place - 2, 2nd place - 1 Carlos: 1st place - 1, 2nd place - 1, 3rd place - 1 Lando: 1st place - 1, 2nd place - 2, 3rd place 1 Oscar: 1st place - 1, 2nd place - 1, 3rd place - 1 Fernando: 1st place - 2, 2nd place - 1, 3rd place - 1 Alex: 2nd place - 1 Logan: 2nd place - 1 Zhou: 3rd place - 2

Pre-Season Schedule
We are officially halfway through the off-season! Is it just me, or is it going by at a snail's pace? So, in celebration of making it halfway through the off-season, here are some things we can look forward to.
February 14 - Williams Reveal - Silverstone
Williams will be revealing the FW47. The livery will be a “bespoke one-off livery.”
February 16 -  Hass Filming Day - Silverstone
The Hass VF-25 will hit the track for the first time and conduct one of the permitted filming days. Esteban Ocon will be driving. And Ollie Bearman will have a filming day later in the month in Bahrain.
February 18 - F175 Car Launch - O2 Arena
In celebration of the 75th Season of F1, all 10 teams will be revealing their livery for the 2025 Season. All 20 drivers will be attending, as well as all 10 Team Principals. There will be special guest presenters and stars from the world of entertainment. F1 has confirmed that there will be streaming of this event but there are no details as of yet.
February 19 - Ferrari Event - Fiorano Circuit
Ferrari will reveal their 2025 car. Fred Vasseur has confirmed that they will run the car on the 19th. However, it's not clear who will be driving.
February 26-28 - Pre-season testing - Bahrain
… Yeah, I dont have much to say about this it's pre-season testing. All the commentators will make assumptions about how the cars are doing (even though teams might be sandbagging). But really, this is the first time the teams will be able to get data on the cars.
March 14 -16 - Australian Grand Prix - Melbourne
Lights out and away we go on the first Grand Prix of the 2025 season.

Thanks to your giant F1 post me and my gf are watching every race now. For Japan we did home made bingo cards and turned the race into a drinking game. Do you have any suggestions for the upcoming China race? Here is what we've got so far: - Hass chooses violence - Lans Stroll is in the wall - Commentators don't give a fuck and call teams by their old names - Weird Shit on the radio - Someone's car is on fire - Red Bull drama is mentioned - Two members of one team on the podium - McLaren pilots are driving one after another - Surprise rain/wet track - Ferrari finishes on hard tires - Hamilton doesn't get higher than 5th spot - Leclerc has an Incident - Sergio Perez is never called by his real name - Commentators joke about Alpine's failure - Zhou Guanyu is voted "best driver of the race"
omg first so glad youre loving the giant post!!! thank you!!! second me and my sister also do bingo boards and its so much fun (we just compete we dont do the drinking game part but that's very fun sounding)
the fun thing about china is that there hasn't been a race there in several years cause of covid so no one really knows what's going to happen there and theres a good chunk of people who either haven't raced there before or haven't raced there in a long while AND its a sprint weekend so its going to be off the walls a bit more than usual i think!
reccs for bingo squares tho:
-drivers critique the race strategy over the radio -alpine is in last -carlos podium -stake has a long ass pit stop -williams does not crash

I don't think "Checo to Mercedes" is out of question TBH. In his GQ interview he said he had the opportunity to swap teams (2 options!) and I me thinks he wouldn't had said that if it wasn't refering to big teams, no offence the other teams, but let's be real, if Hass had offered him a place, he wouldn't had accept it or mentioned it.
So my delulu theory is that he was offered place in:
Ferrari, (hear me out!!!) to be the shield of Charles and help him to battle Max. And they could sell the idea of a pilot comming home again (Checo was a Ferrari boy!).
Mercedes, OP1: Lewis wanted him as his teammate, but no car improvements, not wanted teammate, so Lewis swaped to Ferrari. OP2: to be the mentor figure to Kimi (yes! if someone was gonna get sacrificed, it was gonna be George... so much for being Toto lover...).
To McLarren, to be a teammate for Piastri/Lando (no proof, just a feeling). The reconciliation from pilot-team.
Williams: they promise him the sun and the moon in exachange for the cash he brings on and he had seen with Franco that the car can give something with a bit of work.
The teams want to beat off RB's supremacy of the last few years and the little piece that knows all their secrets has a lot of value... that's also another reason why I think Checo is being sabotaged from the inside, what team want to loose credibility if the said they want to change one of their beloved teammates for someone with such a bad season the last year???
The intrigue F1 gives surpases the best thought TV plot of any show.
I always wanted to see Checo in Ferrari, to be honest. He was in their academy, he was supposed to be there with Jules! So maybe you aren't that delusional!
When the rumors of Checo to Mercedes arose (like in March I think), I actually believe it could happen, but in my headcanon it was because Lewis was leaving, so Toto wanted someone to help George to become a champion, practically Checo would be to George what he was to Max in 2021. Glad I was wrong though, Mercedes has become a very controversial team, and I believe it's part of why Lewis decided to change teams. Hopefully he will have a better experience than Vettel.
McLaren is the one I don't believe, if only because Checo was left with a very unpleasant experience. Williams I can see, and I also can see him help improving the blasted car, at least I think in Williams he would be heard, not like in RBR where they just ignore him.
F1 soap opera is having the end of season of Game of Thrones. Let's see how many survive.

My Fandom Informed Experience Attending the 2024 USGP in Austin TX
Hey!  I just wanted to share my favorite experience at the 2024 USGP in Austin TX.  My goal is to provide some tips and general information from a fandom perspective to those thinking about attending in the future!  I've been to many comic cons, two Supernatural conventions, plenty of Ren faires, tons of baseball, soccer, hockey, basketball, football games as well as a number of horse races and concerts.  So that's my background.  Read if you want!
Thursday
So we flew into TX on the Thursday before.  The airport and rental cars were a nightmare.  Be sure to book ahead and separately (don't book the car through the airline) and confirm as much as you can by phone.  (I'm a paranoid anxious traveler, but also with the UT vs. Georgia game the same weekend the greater Austin are probably increased in size by 400,000-500,000 people that weekend so…)
Anyway, we got to our Airbnb in a Northern suburban area and then took a train downtown (the returning train is at like 8 so might not be a good option for you, but I have a weird train thing).  There was amazing BBQ and the downtown is decent, no Chicago or Nashville, but pretty cool.  There were some pop-up F1 events (that we missed because my dad wanted to see the bats fly out of the bridge (they didn't come out that night)) that you should totally look into and try to go to.  We checked out the music scene and bars and then called it a night.  Not a lot of night life happens downtown till later, so wouldn't really recommend that kinda stuff, but if that's your thing definitely check it out!
Friday
Let's get into the good stuff.  We bought our general admission and Lot R parking pass ahead of time.  I highly recommend this, but it's a pretty long walk so be prepared for that reoccurring theme for the whole weekend.  We got to the circuit around 8ish, took about 15-20 minutes to get parked and were inside the gates by around 9.  When we got in there were a ton of experiences and stores and whatnot.  I went straight to the fan stage because none of the driver interviews were advertised online.  There was a schedule on the screens there.  So it's very important to get there when the gates open to see the schedule and secure a spot to watch.
We then walked around to all the GA viewing spots just for fun.  Early in the day Friday is the only time you'll be able to do this without waiting in significant lines to cross bridges or service roads.  We watched FP from the area between T2 and T3 then SQ from T19.  Great spots and some interesting people to meet.  Merch is hella expensive, but ya gotta get something at the track just because.  COTA Merch is much more reasonable than the F1 stuff.  I also got a branded personalized cowboy hat with my initials and the shape of the circuit which was pretty cool!
We didn't stick around for Sting because we wanted to go to Academy Sports and Outdoors to buy some $6 fold up chairs.  You need these for GA.  Believe me.  Sitting on the ground on dried up dusty Texas drought stricken grass sucked.
Saturday
We managed to sneak water into the track and some snacks as well which helped a lot because food was expensive.  $20 a meal per person and $16 for a beer roughly.  We also got the race radios from Amex with my card, although they seemed to give them to anyone really.
I insisted we get there as the gates were opening which is good because it got us front seats for the driver interviews.  They were really cool but only about 10mins per team and then Hass and RBR shared a slot.
I knew going into it that I would not meet any important people and would not get much exposure to the drivers.  So that realistic expectation was very helpful.  It's a sporting event for hundreds of thousands of spectators after all and I'm a simple musician and office worker so I couldn't afford anything like paddock club passes.  GA was under $500 which I thought provided A LOT of value.  Money well spent.  That being said, seeing the drivers IRL was still really really cool and fulfilling in a reasonably healthy way.  Would a picture or handshake been cool like when I met Jared, and Jensen in Nashville at a SPN con?  Yes.  But that's NOT what kind of event this is, which I knew going into it.  All that to say, if you want to go to meet a driver and engage in that kind of fan event, it's likely not realistic.  But I love the sport as well so the race was my real reason for attending and talking with other fans was cool.  I wouldn't bring up RPF if I was you…. But I could tell the amount of lore I knew about the drivers and their interconnected careers did raise some suspicion amongst those I talked to.  But I'm paranoid.  Mostly people (my dad mostly lol) were impressed with how much I knew about the actual racing.
Anyway.  We watched the sprint and qualy in the shade in front of the T10 grandstands which was perfect to then get into the entrance for Eminem after (my dad wanted to see him, I couldn't have cared less).  Then we left before he was done and beat all the traffic.
Sunday
We got to parking lots when they were supposed to open (note that they changed the traffic pattern that day so keep your wits about you.  There's not much signage to help on Elroy Rd.) and they were already open and starting to fill.  We wanted to sit at turn one which took us close to an hour to walk there.  There's always a line to cross the track on the bridges.  There's a tram but we never used it.  That day they were randomly checking bags, but they didn't look in my backpack so not an issue for me and my food and water.
By the time we made it to Turn one it was already packed but we managed to get a decent spot.  This was 8:30am.
The good News is there are a ton of other races going on during the day so you don't get too bored waiting seven hours for the actual race.  Plus there's the drivers parade and the delight of getting to shout “boos” and curses at the rich fuckers getting hot laps and special track tours on semi trailers.  So definitely worth getting there early.
Speaking of "boos", the only real ones I heard were for the rich people and the governor of Texas (for obvious reasons) there was some booing of Max, but not too much.
We also chatted with the people around us.  Lots of Checo fans and the guy in front of me was a Max fan but was “tired of him winning all the time” and was wearing a Norris jersey.  So.  Hot take.  Interesting people.  But really fun to talk with.  People get possessive of their spot so get to know those around you to secure yours and gain goodwill.
It's hot and sunny.  Bring sunscreen.
The national anthem and fighter jet flyover is cool and had me feeling patriotic.
Then the race which was a religious experience to see in person.  Seeing the pit stops even from afar and seeing the tires strategy.  Watching the overtakes and shouting and cheer with other fans was just indescribable.
After Charles won we quickly made our way to get into the long line to watch the podium ceremony from the track.  This is very cramped so he prepared.
The podium celebration was amazing and I took a few rocks from the gravel trap and rubber pebbles from the tires home as a souvenir.  Probably not supposed to, but hey.
We saw all the cars being inspected in parc ferme which was cool and then walked around the track to exit at T19.
Traffic getting out was hell, but my dad wanted air conditioning, which was in the car.  So….  I'd recommend doing something during that time like going up in the tower or doing other experiences or just hanging out.  Let the traffic die down.
We flew out the next morning.  TSA was packed and took some time so I advise getting there at least 3 hours early or more.  I have precheck and it was still an ordeal.
So all around a fantastic weekend that I will cherish forever.  My dad was even tolerable if not even enjoyable to be around, so the whole thing about fathers and their gay sons and Motorsports brings people together. Blah blah blah.
Anyway, if you have any questions feel free to drop an ask or send a DM.  I plan on pretty much leaving Tumblr after this post, but I'll leave my email notifications on and I'll hopefully get back to you.  If you want to see some pictures I took, search the tag OFL goes to Austin.
Hope this was informative!!

I've got to hear all your current thoughts and opinions on F1. You may be annoying people irl, but you cannot annoy me.
Omg I cannot believe you're into F1 - I didn't know that! Okay current thoughts:
- I'm not a Max or Lando fan but having a contested championship for the first time in a while has been fun, and not caring too much who wins is even better. The constructors is really where it's at this season though, that top three is up for grabs and the race for 6th and 8th are also very spicy!
- The way Daniel Riccardo's exit was handled was really tasteless from the team. And if Liam keeps doing well, I can absolutely see them putting him into the second Red Bull seat next year, which I don't expect to end well (see: Pierre Gasly, Alex Albon).
- Very curious to see how the kid does in Mercedes next year, that's a bold choice to move him straight in.
- Why is no one talking about the second Alpine or Hass seat? I feel like we're hearing about everyone chasing the Audi seat and then absolutely nothing about the other two unconfirmed seats??
- Excited for the Alex and Carlos lineup at Williams; Carlos seems to be inexplicably unpopular but I have a soft spot for him, particularly because all the commentators talk about how he's the most engineer-y of the drivers (and Alex of course is my favorite).
- We have got to sort out the inconsistent stewarding, too many important decisions have been wrong or contradictory lately.
- Ted is my absolute favorite and I mourn every weekend without a Notebook (also he lives in my neighborhood!)
- If I were an F1 driver, I would make up fun names for the strategies instead of A, B, C based on niche historical events / inside jokes.
+ let's have a sleepover

Ollie Bearman and K-mag seem like an iconic duo like you have an older more experienced driver who will use any means necessary to gain positions, (K-mag to Logan in Miami you will never be forgotten) and Ollie seems confident and ready to join f1, I’m just picturing K-mag training Ollie on how to be the best at on-track violence.

Post 'ROLEX BELGIAN GRAND PRIX 2024' Point Theory.
Well F1 enthusaists can you believe we are already halfway through the 2024 season? How many of you perdictred this is how the standings and competition would like in general?? Like no one was expecting 7 different race winners in the first 14 races!! Everyone was honestly full Max 24 race domminance.
With being half way through not only the summer break itself (two more weeks tell Netherlands) but also the calander itself lets take a look at where everyone is standing after the Dutch GP.
Points theory to 12th as presented by the FIA:
Tumblr media
This is fatoring in Georges DQ so he stays the same on points, Lewis gets bumped 1st so he is closing on Carlos rapidly (that ferrari had fallen off a bit) Oscar got bumped to 2nd so he is closing not only on charles but also Lando (three way title fight incoming??) and everyone else held standings mostly and just added points to their name.
Points to 20th, I choose a method of 20pts for 1st and 1pt for 20th:
Tumblr media
I love this method more in the sense that it fully highlights when teams are underperforming verus the other method of points stopping at 10th or 12th. When you look at this you can see how well Mclaren are performing, how much Sergio is letting RB down, the mega job by both Vcarbs cause that RB19 clone is not as identical as we thought preseaon, and just how much Wiliams and Sauber are letting their drivers down.

The "logical reason" is that often given is that Mercedes prefers only having one junior in every category so they can "focus" on each driver, which seems like a really good idea. (But they never really did anything for Paul Aron in F3 though, if you look at everything they were doing outside of racing with Kimi and Fred). Mercedes has invested so much money and talked up Antonelli so much that if they chose to prioritize Aron over him and send Kimi to F3 instead of F2 they would look really bad if he performed (like he is now) and they didn't give him the F1 seat (I'm convinced they have known that Lewis is leaving for awhile and basically forced him out). Then continuing on this hypothetical, Paul gets the seat preforms extremely well, while Kimi is in F2 and takes the title that I think he would have if given the right development. Then you sack Paul for Kimi so your golden boy doesn't go to waste? Because no other seat is going to take a Merc junior at this point, they all are focused on themselves. They would look really bad doing this. It's basically just Mercedes (Toto) trying not to look bad on the F1 front. Doing it now minimizes the amount of press covering it and fans who know what is happening. I'm convinced Toto almost has a stroke everytime F2 commentators mention he is a former Merc jr. Sorry if that made no sense.
With Ollie, I think he has deserved his FP1s given his performance last year and his debut with Ferrari. Something is slightly fishy in the difference between him and Kimi's performance, but I don't think people want to talk about that. But I think it should also be said that Preme is suffering dominance wise in all categories. They have lost a few really good engineers (some the F1 some to other teams) and other teams have caught up.
As far as other teams not giving Paul a FP1, I think they have invested so much in other drivers (similar to Merc) that don't want to look bad. Alpine has like 20 divers in their academy, Williams needs experience to fix their hot mess. The only places I see potential is Hass, but would they run a risk of a double rookie line up with Bearman (they have also already done their rookie FP1s), or Audi/sauber but they have Theo Pourchair and Zane Maloney who are in line (I will say though, that Theo could get an Indy Seat and he's been out of a Formula car for awhile and Zane looks to have lost form, so maybe hope?)
This is a really long rant, I'm sorry. But it's likely Paul will end up in FormulaE or Indy car (where I think he would do really well personality and driving wise)
I hope in this case he goes to Formula E since he’s driven there alert

OKAY OFF TOPIC BUT I FUCKING KNEW IT!!! for some reason theres rumours going around that carlos is moving to Audi in 2025 AND LET ME TELL U SOMETHING, this was something I've been thinking about ever since I heard of Audi's return to the grid. and technically, Audi 2025 would be Sauber 2025 since the Audi name will only come in at 2026. OH MY GOD shit oke we are cool, we are calm. but this is 1/3 of my predictions for the Sauber-Audi team.. if it is true then what the fuck.
i'm manifesting it rn:
1) carlos sainz jr in Sauber 2025 or Audi 2026
2) ************* in AR-Sauber 2024 / Sauber 2025 / Audi 2026
3) *********** as Team fucking Principal of Audi 2026
things to take into consideration (very long & rambling):
1) bottas' contract ends in 2025 so he'll be here for Sauber 2025 (please refer to 4.3.1)
2) guanyu's contract ends in 2023 (need to fact check this!) so it frees up 1 spot but Carlos' contract doesn't end until 2024 season.
4) but if ************* comes in at 2024 with AR-Sauber, there is an overlap for 2025 line-up since bottas is still contracted. so ************* and carlos will not be a potential line-up until 2026 under Audi team.
4.1) idk if ************* actually has any relations to Sauber or Audi (huh, gotta research this)
4.2) i say AR 2024 / AR-Sauber 2025 / Sauber 2025 / Audi 2026 etc bcs i'm still unsure of the 2024-2025 AR and Sauber partnership and team name and how that effects the management team or majority voting rights of shareholders. huge impact of business presence of pilots and their profitability in the eyes of whichever manufacturer.
4.3) timeline for the Sauber and Audi transition is fucked for 2024-2025 since apparently AR is slated to team up with Hass (out of all other teams wtf) in 2024...? can't confirm bcs, again, wtf.
4.3.1) what happens with bottas' existing contract if AR moves title sponsorship to Hass in 2024 when his contract ends in 2025? does he move with AR or stay with Sauber?
5) so were the rumours correct when they said Carlos-Audi but they got the dates wrong? it isn't 2025 but actually a move for 2026?
5.1) do the Sainz family have any connections to Audi that may back this move?
5.2) where does that leave Carlos for the 2025 line-up? or will his Ferrari contract be extended for 1 year? it's not entirely uncommon for 1yr extensions...
6) regarding TP, we know that *********** and f***** has a history or partnership with Audi and they are pretty involved with the motorsport side of the brand.
6.1) more importantly *********** has the business aspect and racing exp of being a ************* as seen in his f***** history and firsthand in ******** and *******E
6.2) he's the insider anomaly of TPs. can bring more personalised insight AND has the mechanical/technical knowledge to back it up. will balance pilot and team dynamic but still firm with their leadership.
6.3) don't forget ** ** ******!
6.4) why not another potential driver like ********? because *********** has shown interest in managing a team. (hmm return to this, needs more evidence)
6.5) but whats abt Sauber's take on ***********? he and AS dont have any known connections.. hmm..
7) yes this means not a true All German line-up but AR-Sauber 2025 and/or Audi 2026 must focus on their rebrand and establishing their car competitiveness on the grid to be a profitable investment for Audi's return.
7.1) riding on the hype of an All German line-up will only get them so far and if they can push out AT or Williams in the first 1-2 years of their debut year? Audi would be a beast after 4 seasons at least.
8) AR is currently using Ferrari 1.6 liter V6 turbo hybrid engine in their cars, but Audi is on record saying that theyre building a *new* engine for their F1 cars, separate from Porsche which is doing RBR's engines (is this already in play.. i gotta research Porsche-RBR more).
8.1) Porsche and Audi are under parent company VW, so VW will need to fund 2 separate engine development programs. how different will wtv Audi engine be if parent companies are involved?
8.2) Audi's exp in Dakar rallies should be a point in reference.
8.3) Apparently, the new engines will only come into effect in 2026 under Audi, so 2024-2025 will still see them use Ferrari engine on the cars.
9) i'm so stupid i just realised that Sauber is a fucking Swiss-based engineering company...
9.1) double coincidence so THOUGHTS ARE BEING THUNKED MR. ************* !
9.2) i feel like i've seen ************* and AS interacting quiet often too? (gotta research this!)
9.3) dont know if thats enough though, maybe they aren't impressed by *************'s skills and dont see him as profitable in the long term for the brand's competitive image.
