I feel like we as a society sleep on the lyricism that exists within the JATP soundtrack.

thinking of a juke fic post-season 1 where the boys do come back to life, in 2020/2021, but there’s a catch (similar to my previous au idea)-

they don’t have any memories of when they were ghosts- ie they don’t remember julie, jatp, the music they made together- none of it

and neither does anyone else, except for julie

so julie finds herself living in a world where nowhere remembers jatp or the boys or any of it — except for her

she has to live with going to school every day with these boys who she loves so dearly, knowing they don’t remember her- know who she is

but then luke hears her sing for the first time and snippets of flashbacks and memories start pouring in and even though for a while he thinks he’s having these strangely realistic dreams, it all falls into place the day julie hears him singing perfect harmony after school by himself in music class and julie joins in and it’s a Moment™️

Obviously, I reached Edge of Great in my rewatch where it is most extreme:

The finger kiss

Alex's 'No' to 'Girls, am I right?'

The entire setup for the eog performance

The guitar solo (the fact that the guitar solo is not on the soundtrack will haunt me forever)

Madi and Charlie secretly writing Perfect Harmony

There's probably stuff I missed, but I'm tired.

If I have one enemy in Julie and the Phantoms, it's Nick.

"But Nick didn't do anything wrong!" 😑

That one scene in episode 5 felt like a personal attack. It's stated in episode 1 that Julie barely, if ever, talked to Nick. SO TELL ME WHY THIS BOY IS ALL UP IN HER BUSINESS BACKSTAGE BEING NOSY AF TOWARDS A GIRL HE BARELY KNOWS (and one his girlfriend has potentially unresolved beef with, at that).

Nick hyping up that performance that wasn't going to happen made the situation MORE embarrassing for Julie, in my opinion. Like, the poor girl was already gonna be embarrassed; why add Nick into a scene that already makes me feel second-hand embarrassed for Julie and add pure, unfiltered rage to it.

I physically can't watch that episode. I can quote the other episodes line for line, but episode 5? I've watched it maybe like 3 times because I skip it every time I rewatch JATP, which is at least twice a month.

I also have a grudge against him (mostly Netflix, but also him) because SPOILER ALERT!!!! He's the last face we see before the show is canceled. Is it technically Caleb? Yeah. But if he hadn't shown up to Julie's house, he wouldn't have gotten possessed, and I would have gotten a half-way satisfying ending. We did NOT need that cliffhanger. So everytime I see his face (not the actor, just Nick's face, it's weird) I get reminded that the show was canceled, and my day gets ruined.

Anyway, if Nick has no haters, then I'm dead.

Edit: just realized that if you take Nick out of the story the only thing that changes is Perfect Harmony and the cliffhanger, but you can still have PH if you tweak the performance to be with some random and with the cliffhanger we could have gotten a banger with Caleb possessing Carrie or Trevor.

don't think I'll ever get over how tickled I was watching JATP for the first time during Edge of Great and how Luke kept expecting Julie to interact with him in that special way during the song and she was trying so hard not to and they had him so intentionally want it and notice it not happening and keep trying to get it. like I think about that all the time. it was so juicy. so fun to be in agony for their lil teenage romance during one song in her driveway. Perfect Harmony was nice but. I need more delicious experiences like that in shows
