Hardware Wars is getting a Blu-ray release in early 2024. Ernie Fosselius' 1978 short was the first popular Star Wars parody film to air on TV, and George Lucas has called it his favorite.

Extras include several cuts of the film, commentary by Fosselius, a "Hardware Wars Saves Christmas" featurette, and the additional parodies Porklips Now (1980) and Plan 9.1 From Outer Space (2009).

Had a successful outdoor 16mm film screening last night. The weather was especially nice. Everything I ran was a surprise. Hardware Wars got the biggest response.

My first Star Trek convention was in nyc at the (now defunct) Statler Hilton hotel in 1977. It was right near Madison square garden. Not too far from Macy’s.

no lines. No reservation or tix needed, you rolled up, plunked down your cash.

we watched hardware wars, Bambi vs Godzilla, another Star Wars parody, Star Trek eps, Star Trek bloopers, and the immortal parody City On the Edge of Whatever.

there were no streaming services, not even vhs yet. No YouTube.

There was a costume contest. A huckster room.

and the birth of Slash Fiction.

It was early creation con too. It was a hot mess.

I met Isaac Asimov. He was a dirty old man. I had a fanzine for The Prisoner called “the Green Dome”. it was fun!

Ok. I admit it. I'm not a big Star Wars fan. Sure, I loved it as a kid. Had all the toys, yoda-yoda-yoda.

The last Star War I watched was the one with the obnoxious kid racing in the pods.

Now, I'll only watch a Star War with the Rifftrax audio on. It's superior to the Plinkett reviews. In fact, everything Rifftrax does is superior to the Plinkett reviews. MST3K and Rifftrax really will teach you how not to make a movie.

Anyway, so, yeah, I haven't seen any of the "new" Star Wars. But I do see that many people don't like them.

And my question is, have they ever seen Return of the Jedi? I mean, have they ever really seen it? Sorry. It's awful.

From Chewie's Tarzan yell to Humpty Dumpty Darth's face reveal, it stinks! Don't even get me started about the Teddy Kaczynski Bears!

I'm sure I'll get some hate for this, but just remember, it's only my opinion, so I could be completely wrong. It does happen.

To the Star Wars fans, I'm glad you've found something you love in this miserable old world.
