This an interview with Ohara-san (Erza's seiyuu) and focus mostly on Jerza love relationship. Lovely thing to point out, is that this issue will come this month on the month we celebrate Jerza Day!!

The bits of the interview I could translate thread...

It was late when they finally arrived in Magnolia. They’d travelled for days, to Natsu’s and Wendy’s terror, and none of the members of Team Natsu felt like stopping by a loud, drunken guildhall. They walked the last bit before they arrived at the junktion where they’d split ways so many times before. Walked in silence, just breathing in the familiar air around them. They’d stopped by the guild a couple of times during the quest, but nothing really compared to this sensation. Rewards in their pockets, sore muscles after months of fighting. It had almost been a whole year since they’d gotten the OK to go on the quest, yet here they now were – finished. Done. Finito.

Natsu had felt an odd sensation growing within him. It seeded back when they took the 100 years quest, but only started expanding about a week ago. He felt uneasy, like he was losing his sense of direction. Because, with all of his goals cleared, what would he do now? He’d found Igneel, defeated Zeref and Acnologia, cleared the 100 years quest – what more could he possibly want? No, he knew what he wanted: he wanted a goal to strive towards. A life to look forward to, something to do with his time. The 100 year quest was the peak for his wizarding work – no mission would ever reach the same thrill. But why wasn’t he as happy as he had hoped he would be? They won. Defeated them all, pretty much reached perfection. And everyone else around him seemed happy – Erza finally got Jellal to join the guild, Gray was about to ask Juvia to finally be his girl, Wendy just seemed more excited to continue her healer-journey now that she no longer was required to fight, and Lucy was practically jumping in excitement to finally publish her new book. He felt like he was struggling to find his place, and before he could even stop himself he felt his thoughts flicker to the year he’d left for training.

No. Leaving wasn’t the solution. He knew this, but he couldn’t steer where his thoughts were leading him. Last time he’d felt this lost, the year away cleared his mind, gave him a tangible feeling to strive for. Revenge, a strive for victory. Even the guilt from abandoning Lucy had felt better than the nothingless losing Igneel had left him with. No, he shook his head. He couldn’t do that again. It would kill her – kill him.

He was brought out of his train of thoughts when he felt a cool hand slither into his. Lucy.

“You’re quiet,” she whispered. She seemed to slowly adjust their pace until they were a couple of metres behind the rest of the team. “What are you thinking about?”

Lucy. Her skin almost looked bluish pale in the soft moonlight, her hair only barely registering as a light yellow as the lights cancelled other colours out. She was cold, and he felt himself grabbing on to her, as if not to lose the anchor in an emotional storm. He couldn’t leave her. It wouldn’t be possible – not after everything, all they’d been though, all they’d promised each other. Because he had promised. To stay together forever. He just wasn’t sure what to do with that forever. He didn’t know how to fill the time.

Not wanting to leave her question hanging, he mumbled, “I dunno… Stuff.”

She was kind enough not to question him further. Instead she let herself move a bit closer as they walked, having their arms graze against each other occasionally. An entire year. Away from Magnolia, from the streets they knew so well, the people they’d taken for granted on the paths. So much was the same, like the buildings, the air and the starry skies. But here and there were small signs that the year indeed had passed – a pothole filled, a street closed for renovation, a new shop where an old one had closed. Life was continuing, people moved on. Natsu couldn’t shake the feeling that he was falling behind.

Finally at the junktion where their paths split, Natsu, Happy and Lucy lingered. They’d waved their goodbyes to Erza, Gray, Wendy and Carla, but they hadn’t quite decided on where they wanted to go. It all felt so final, so symbolic that a wrong choice could change the entire direction of their lives. And it was still just their normal crossway, where they’d walked thousands of times before.

“So,” Lucy spoke up. “Home.” A statement, and invite perhaps. Natsu felt turmoil in his stomach. He wanted to invite himself to her apartment, make sure they stuck together no matter what – if he was left alone for too long his legs might start running off without even telling her, and he couldn’t have that. But what if he stayed? Took her ghost of an invite and packed up his bag at her place. Would it be final? Would he be relying on Lucy’s sense of direction in life, never knowing what he could have done with himself if she wasn’t the one holding the reins? He almost shook his head. How stupid of him. Being with Lucy was nothing to fear – it should be obvious that they would stay together now. It was obvious, of course it was. Anywhere Lucy went, Natsu wanted to follow. He knew this, he’d known for years. Longer than she even suspected.

But his silence made Lucy grow uncertain. So when she spoke, he felt his heart drop to his stomach.

“I think it’s best we go home. Part ways.” Her big eyes seemed to analyse Natsu’s face, and he just hoped his terror wasn’t showing. No Lucy. No sharing a bed, no washing up together, no arms to feel safe in when sleep reeled him in. He’d been too late. “You alright? We’ll meet at the guild tomorrow morning for breakfast.”

He gave her half a nod, more like a confirmation that he’d heard her, than an acceptance to her invite. Her hand, which had been his safety net all the way here, slipped out of his, only leaving the cold ghost of her presence that had been comforting him just a second ago. She gave him an uncertain smile before she turned and walked away. Natsu didn’t move. His face felt paralyzed, and he knew Happy was growing worried as he saw Natsu’s emotionless reaction. But he couldn’t react. It didn’t feel right running after her after such a definite rejection, though it didn’t feel right accepting the moment and walking away either. Not yet. He still saw her, the silhouette getting smaller as her steps moved her further away. He could hear her take a shaky breath before she took the turn that brought her completely out of sight. She’d gone, parted ways with him. Not really. Not forever. But in Natsu’s fragile emotional state, she might just have.

He had answered her without hesitation with a huge smile. Lucy smiled. She was happy that he had accepted. She had wanted to ask him to go with her for days, but each time she did not dare say anything, she was afraid that he would refuse. She only had a short time left before the party and she had to gather all her courage to ask him.

Lucy tried to look through a window of the guild, but she could not see anything. The building was closed for the day to prepare for the Valentine's Day party. When she had arrived, Mirajane had stopped her from entering, saying that all members were forbidden to enter until the evening. This had only made Lucy more curious. She stood on her tiptoes to try to see better.

“What are you doing ?”

She jumped and looked at Natsu and Happy.

“Nothing.”

She smiled, looking innocent, but her smile was so tight that even Natsu could see she was lying.

“It looks like you were trying to see what Mirajane is up to.”

Lucy turned to the window and stood on her tiptoes again.

“Aren't you curious ?”

“She does this every year. You'll get used to it eventually.”

Lucy sighed and gave up on trying to see something. She knew that Valentine's Day was Mirajane's favorite day, mostly because she could interfere into people's lives and play matchmaker.

Lucy had not been able to attend the party the year before. She had gone on a mission with Team Natsu. Even though she really wanted to attend the party, she could not refuse the mission. She had been paid very well and she had been able to give the rent she owed to her landlord. But this time, she was determined to go. She looked at Natsu and blushed.

“Natsu, do you want to go to the party ?”

“Okay.”

He had answered her without hesitation with a huge smile. Lucy smiled. She was happy that he had accepted. She had wanted to ask him to go with her for days, but each time she did not dare say anything, she was afraid that he would refuse. “Shall we meet up tonight ?”

Natsu nodded and Lucy went shopping. She had to find a dress for the party. She wanted to get ready for her date with Natsu. She looked at the time and quickened her pace. She did not have much time left.

Lucy walked happily to the guild. She had bought a pretty red dress that came above her knee. It was low-cut but not so much that it seemed provocative. It was both simple and elegant, ideal for a date. She had put on makeup and she had curled her hair. She had followed step by step a hairstyle she had found in a special Valentine's Day magazine. She hoped that Natsu would find her pretty. Lucy arrived at the guild. She saw Natsu and...

“Happy ?”

It's nothing, she thought. He must be waiting for Carla. Natsu waved at her.

“Hey Lucy !”

“Wow, you pulled out all the stops,” Happy snickered.

Lucy blushed, embarrassed.

“I didn’t !”

“Let's go !” Natsu declared.

He took Lucy's hand and they entered the guild. Lucy opened her eyes wide. Mirajane had outdone herself. There were roses, red and pink balloons, heart-shaped garlands hanging on the walls, a buffet and a chocolate fountain. The center of the room had been transformed into a dance floor.

“This way, Happy !” Natsu exclaimed.

“Here we go !”

They both rushed to the buffet and helped themselves. Lucy frowned.

“Happy, don't you have a date with Carla ?”

“I asked her, but she didn't want to come.”

“I asked the team, but Wendy stayed with Carla, Gray wanted to go with Juvia, and Erza with Jellal.”

Lucy opened her eyes wide.

“You asked the team !”

Natsu nodded and bit into a chicken leg.

“You didn't want us all to go together ?”

“Yes... Yes, that's what I wanted.”

Lucy lowered her head, disappointed. For Natsu, it was not a date but an outing with friends. She apologized before walking away. Natsu and Happy would not notice her absence, she thought. They were too busy devouring the buffet. She headed for the door and left the guild to go home. There was no point staying anymore.

Natsu watched Lucy walk away, surprised.

“What's wrong with her ?”

“I think she thought it was a date.”

Natsu opened his eyes wide. He was so surprised that he almost dropped his plate.

“She didn't specify !”

“It was implied. Sometimes you can be really stupid.”

“You didn't understand either”, Natsu was offended.

“How could I have known, she didn't ask me !”

Natsu looked at where Lucy had gone. He had to do something to fix the situation.

Lucy opened the door to her apartment and entered. She had been looking forward to the party and had gotten ready, but now she felt really stupid. She should have guessed that Natsu only wanted to go as friends. She turned on the light and jumped when she saw Natsu in the middle of the room.

“How did you manage to get there before me ?” She asked.

“Happy took me. Why didn't you tell me it was a date ?”

“I thought you understood.”

“You should have specify.”

“Anyway, it wouldn't have changed anything.”

“It would have changed everything.”

Lucy blushed. She had never seen Natsu so determined.

“We still have time to go to the party,” he said. “And this time it will be a real date.”

Lucy smiled. They returned to the guild. They had spent the night dancing, laughing, having fun. This Valentine's Day party, that had started badly, had been the best party for Lucy. Especially when Natsu had taken her back to her place and they had kissed before parting ways.

The Dragneel (Fairies Heirs)

Lucy asked Natsu out first (Happy never fails to remind her of that fact) a few months after the gang came back from the 100 years quest;

Do I need to say that Natsu was giggling for the whole day after?

Because Lucy initiated the first date, Natsu made sure he was the one who proposed (he asked Gadjeel and regretted and Gray who had that point were already fiancés. I’ll let you guys imagine the ideas that came out of the brainstorm between the three);

Finally after a discussion (he got mostly yelled at) with Jellal and Luxus, he decided to bring her to Hargeon where they first met and asked for her hand there;

Natsu asked for Aquarius' blessing (because in my dictature, Lucy got the key back) before proposing to Lucy;

Career wise: Natsu became one of the most sought out mage in the kingdom and even overseas while Lucy became a very successful author;

Lucy stopped going on missions when she got pregnant with their first child Ignia a few months after the wedding, and from that point only concentrated on her writing career;

She published three other novels from that point and all of them did pretty well. The guild, of course, organised a book signing event for each of the releases.

Atlas Salamander Dragneel was born in the middle of the guild on a beautiful Thursday afternoon.

After months of following Polyussica's diet for a painless delivery, Lucy realized way too late that the diet worked way too well and she did not realize her water broke nor felt that the baby was coming;

Some would say such an eventful birth is an omen as to how the baby will be and they would be right because Atlas is nothing if not eventful;

For the first ten years of his life, if there was a catastrophic attack on Magnolia's flora, you could bet your house that he had something to do with it. The boy destroyed a mountain when he was barely 6!;

That is when Luxus start to get worried for his hairline;

Natsu is over the moon to have found a partner to accompany him on his bizarre adventures;

Natsu and Atlas are always sparring each other and they're keeping count. It is currently 124-2 for Natsu;

Lucy can't believe that someone who looks so much like her can be so different from her. Atlas cannot sit AT ALL and for the longest time, the parents had to team up with the city's authorities to give him a simplet haircut;

He's a very volatile person and he hates staying in the same place for a long time;

Him and Gideon are actually dangers to society;

Atlas is also very impulsive and also kinda have a saviour complex; He is always the one to come to help to another being, which is not bad but sometime he does it without thinking much about himself or the people who care about him;

He is very charismatic which is such a bad combo with his eclectic personality. He gets away with a lot such as the fact that he is a player;

Lucy and Natsu agree to let him leave on a two years long mission with Gildarts and Gideon when he turns 15;

The princess of the family! You can get a real-life target on your back if you even mispronounce her name;

After the nightmare that Atlas was, Lucy was so happy to have such a calm baby. Natsu is just really happy because Iggy is a carbon copy of him;

Happy's running joke is to look at Iggy and say something along the lines of "Oh my god Natsu, your hair grew so much";

Iggy grew with an overbearing dad, a very protective mom and a brother who was way too much into her business, that being said the rebellion period was to be expected;

It didn't last too long (Natsu thank the skies every day), she hates being in trouble too much. She mostly sulks when she's upset now;

She is best friends and teammates with Kairo Redfox and Silo Fullbuster;

Because both boys are very prone to partake in activities that result in broken bones and skulls, she has been tasked by Juvia and Levy to chaperone them at all times;

She is very responsible and a person you can count on always;

Whenever her parents leave for a mission or book tour, they very specifically put her in charge of her older brother;

The day Jellal finally joins Fairy Tail is when I can officially jump in joy. I just know Erza would be so happy to see him become a member of the family that made her feel like home. We would also get to see more Jellal and Erza interactions as well which is a bonus for me 🥺.

"cmere, gimme another one bunny." Your boyfriend practically begged making you giggle. "M' tired pa, gimme a second." You just finished a concert so of course you were exhausted. That wasn't what jellal cared about at the moment though. He missed his girl real bad. Your tour was finally coming to an end and his had finished a few days prior. As cool and collected as he seemed all the time the man couldn't function without you being with him. You knew what to do to calm him when he felt like he was gonna snap, and that feeling hit him hard when dealing with his team.

His lips pressed all over your face while you laughed. "So needy pa." Jellal rolled his eyes but didn't exactly deny it either. He'd be lying if he did. He needed you more than man needed air. He lived for you. Not in a way that he was weirdly obsessed with you, but in a way in which you made him always want to do better.

Before you get wasn't doing horrible, a decent career as a write and working with artist. A basic bachelor pad that wasn't really decorated. His clothes were basic outfits you'd see on a celeb or a Pinterest board for the typical tik Tok style. The point was the man was just basic. While the main thing that stood out was the dark blue hair and the face tattoo he got to cover a really bad scar he had there was nothing else that was truly memorable.

Which isn't something that's really good for you in the career he picked as a writer. People only come to see what you're good at, and if nothing sticks out then they won't care for what you're writing. For a long time he didn't care about that though. When he met you that completely changed his "non chalant" ways. You were the opposite of him, always loving to go all out with what you did. Whether that be your performances, your outfits, or even something as simple as the perfume you put on for the day, you had a signature style about you that made him want to match your energy.

You finally gave in to your boyfriend as you carried you up to you guys shared bedroom, pressing to lips on his one final time to give him a kiss. "Are you happy now baby." Jellal couldnt help the dumb smile that grew on his face before pulling you into his chest. "You have no idea baby."

Jellal & Erza : Lilium / Death Of Innocence

Pure white lilies once untouched by scare and sin

Now bathe in blood and are soaked from within

Their fragile petals have become bruised and worn 

Marking the place where innocence has been trampled and torn

Just the looming shadows that speak of fear 

The scarlet stains, an unmoving mark

Funnily enough, now that the OS arc draws closer I'm actually starting to think about the Tenrou arc more.

Here is what I assume will happen : Zeref will be on Tenrou Island during the trials despite Acnologia knowing that it's a regular haunt of his, either because A) Acnologia went days/weeks before to check Tenrou, before he went into hibernation, but Zeref wasn't there at the time and arrived in the meantime, or B) Zeref lost track of time. (Or C) he somehow decided this was an appropriate time to see Natsu - to be fair Tenrou does protect FT members from death...) Now the interesting thing to think about is who will figure out that Zeref is on the island, when will they do so, and what will they do with that knowledge ?

The "who" obviously depends on who will take part in the trials, be it as examiners, candidates or partners. For the candidates : I assume Natsu, Gray, Mest, Cana and Levy will still take part. Freed and Juvia's circumstances are a bit different from canon due to the Battle of FT not happening, but I still think they'll be nominated (actually maybe Freed was already a candidate in X783?). Elfman won't be there, but I'm actually thinking Erik should be a candidate (I'm actually not sure why he hasn't been yet - is he asking the master not to have him complete with his siblings for the title? Does he not want to be S-Class for some reason? I would have assumed Erik would be nominated before Natsu or at the same time, not after). As for partners, Happy, Loke, Lucy and Bixlow will most likely accompany the same candidates as canon. I guess Lisanna might go with Juvia again, but you might also have Juvia develop some new friendships. Actually I think a Juvia and Evergreen team might be nice. Bonus if they fight against Erza in the first round. Erik would go with Cubellios (or maybe with Wendy, if your unison raid art was related to that arc, but I don't think he would 'cause Sting (and Rogue) would be jealous). So the most uncertain partners are those with Mest and Levy. Mest might not be able to use the "Mystogan's pupil" excuse again, given that Mystogan is less of a loner here; that plus her protective elder brothers has me doubt he would ask Wendy. But it's not like I have a better idea for a partner either. As for Levy, well she might go with Jet or Droy, but she might also pick Lisanna, if Juvia goes with Evergreen? I feel like their proximity to the dragon slayers probably made them better friends than in canon. Finally, for the examiners, I'm assuming that Mystogan will be in Edolas and Acnologia sleeping, but that Laxus, Jellal, Gajeel, Erza, Mira, Gildarts and Makarov will all come. Mira could stay behind this time, but I'm thinking she won't. They might also bring Wendy along for emergency treatment if she's not Mest's partner (though I don't think they usually bother, so maybe not).

Now my assumption is that the trials will be the same as canon. So first the S-Class examiners come to the island. Gajeel might be able to tell that Zeref is there (dragon senses + having encountered the guy a couple times), or maybe Laxus, but it's not a given. Also I'm thinking that the magic of the Tenrou tree/island might be overwhelming enough that it partially hides Zeref's presence. Then, all the way from the ship, I don't think that Natsu or Erik, who might have a better chance at feeling his presence, would be able to tell (especially behind motion sick). Trial starts : Mests teleports with Wendy, Freed throws up a barrier, Levy and Evergreen rewrite it. Mest, Freed and Levy pick the same routes they did before. Juvia now has an option that was closed last time - the Mira route, though here it's Gajeel waiting instead. For fun, they go the Erza route again. Then comes, in order, Natsu, Erik (or maybe Erik then Natsu?), Gray and Cana. Natsu being less fight oriented, might not pick the E route again (where Laxus is waiting). Or actually, he might go with "G for Gajeel" and fight Freed and Bixlow. Erik, hearing people and thus knowing the options between fighting Laxus / fighting Mest and Wendy / fighting Gajeel, would probably pick Gajeel. Then Grey and Loke go against Mest and Wendy, Lucy and Cana against Laxus. (Damn, actually maybe Gildarts should still fight - no, it makes no sense unless there's extra candidates, he's overpowered). Anyway, everyone is focussed on the first task so most likely not noticing Zeref. Except maybe Erik.

Other option : rather than keeping the same structure as canon (3 fights with S-Class mages, 2 duels, 1 lucky road), all 6 S-Class mages are possible opponents, + 1 or 2 lucky roads (depending on if there's indeed 8 candidates, since I'm not really sure all of them will participate), or Acnologia also comes along and it's 7 S-Class fights + 1 lucky road. I might actually like that option better, it also gives GH a real reason to use the Dragonsgrave pollen, but then Acnologia would sniff out Zeref immediately so there's that downside.

Anyway, back to my first theory, Gray and Levy obviously pass. I would bet on Natsu passing, but in essentially a 2 vs 1 fight (with Freed having the time to write rune traps) it might be a difficult fight. Juvia probably fails, Cana might pass against Laxus for the same reason Natsu passed against Gildarts. That or they outsmart him and use transportation against him, but I wouldn't bet on it. Cana failing in the first step would be very ansgt-y, and a good reason to have her and Lucy wander around the island because she doesn't want to be go back to the camp where the S-Class mages (including Gildarts) are. For Erik I think it will depend on whether he is actually trying to make it to S-Class or not (similar to Jellal previously), and/or if he has something to prove against Gajeel for some reason.

So for the second task : Gray, Levy, Natsu?, Cana?, Erik? are qualified. Mest and his partner wander around the island, Juvia and Evergreen go back to camp. There's the question of whether Freed and Bixlow leave like they did the first time - but back then it was with Gildarts, who in my version has yet to play a role in the trial, so it doesn't make much sense. Laxus and Gajeel (and possibly Erik if he fails) being dispatched the find the wayward Mest (and Cana?).

So who finds Zeref first, during the second part of the trial (which might be modified so that Gildarts / Mira / Jellal have a role to play, or they're part of the 3th challenge) ? Well, canon events would say Natsu. I'll argue Erik will either find him first or hear Natsu finding him and come to check on the situation and/or warn one of the examiners (Laxus/Gajeel/Mira). Another option, if they get eliminated, is Lucy and Cana, just, Because. Obviously Natsu arrives before they get - well, killed, as much as is possible with the Tenrou protection. Question is, at that point, does Zeref leave? I would say yes, but he didn't in canon... then again the context was different. It would be fun if Natsu / Erik took advantage of the situation and asked where Mavis' grave is XD.

Then GH arrives and all hell breaks loose. They're looking for Zeref who isn't on the island anymore, the dragon slayers except Erik get taken out by Dragonsgrave pollen, Fairy Tail is panicking over Zeref supposedly being on the island but for different reasons, and some secrets probably get dragged up in the process. Plus the Mest/Council stuff. (I wonder if they would try to fire Etherion on the island as is threatened in canon. It would actually be pretty fun to have Etherion fired only for Acnologia to block/eat it. A bit less fun but also interesting would be for Etherion to be the reason Fairy Sphere is used - with Acnologia, Sting and Rogue being left behind in the 7 years skip. Hopefully that wouldn't kill Loke.)

Anyway, definitely lots of potential with this arc as well!!!

Fascinating, I love seeing people guess ahead. You got a few things, but I won't say what lol.

I will answer one thing though, because it has come up a few times, but really the main reason Erik isn't S-Class is because he doesn't want to be. (Does this make him a tiny bit of a hypocrite after Jellal's trial? Perhaps lol, but that's part of the fun.) Not really for self-loathing reasons though, but mostly because he thinks it'll be a huge hassle because of the popularity aspect. (Aka Mystogan's biggest regret lmao.) He's avoided getting nominated at all so far because the people who know him know he doesn't care and from a larger perspective (like Makarov's), he doesn't really do much as far as solo quantifiable jobs go. At least not enough to make it known. (He can do some ultra-impressive group takedown for a job and come back and downplay it so well lol.) But. Lately Erik has been impressive on main a bit more, so :)
