i want to ask u questions about the star rebirth au!!! but idk if they would be considered spoilers or anything but whatevs!!! 1 - how did the culling game end? like, do u have a list of characters u plan to bring back from the dead/keep alive or leave dead/kill? 2 - idk if i asked u this bfr but do u have any songs/playlist in mind for this au?? if so, pls leave the link to it!! 3 - did u had any outside inspo to make it? like other animes/movies/books? 4 - do u have any idea of how many chapters u plan to write?? anddd thats all i have (for now)!!! this au has been living on my mind rent free lmfao and above all, thank u sm for writing this!!!

There are spoilers mentioned for the manga though! So anyone who isn't caught up, I do advise you be mindful about continuing on!

Also spoilers for the Star's Rebirth AU if you haven't read those fics yet. [Link below for those who do want to read it.]

1 - In this AU, it pretty much ended the same way it does in canon (since the manga is now in a different arc now), but there are some slight changes I gave such as have Takako and Yuji meet, therefore she joins the others against Sukuna and Kenjaku. I loved her character too much so I decided to put The Pink Sky and Cherry Blossoms in the AU. I'm glad I did because I enjoy writing her.

It's the same case with Yuki. Here, she doesn't die. She survives. Hana and Takaba are still here, too. The Kyoto students are also in this AU.

Kenjaku is actually still alive, but immobile.

Hiromi, I do want to write him in somehow. I haven't decided to either have him die or have him survive just as Yuki and Satoru, I forgot to mention him, have done. Probably the latter.

Now, yes, some of the characters that are dead in canon are dead, but it doesn't mean they probably won't make an appearance.

Cases being Suguru and Kaori, both who are dead in canon, but they did have speaking roles in the fics (His Mercy and His Mother, respectively). Kaori, I needed to write a fic for her desperately.

The only one who are explicitly dead in this AU but stil alive in canon is Sukuna. Uraume, I'm actually living that ambiguous for the timing being.

I'll be honest, when I first wrote His Role, it was just on whim as with most of my fics. Even the fics that follow. I don't exactly plan on who will show up or a scene, but I have an idea and as I write, I create that vision as to how I think it would fit in. I just go with the flow!

2 - I actually don't have a Playlist! I just listened to whatever songs that I wanted, but four songs I do remember listening to on repeat during His Role and His Mercy was Fujii Kaze's Matsuri and Shinunoga E-Wa and Kvi Baba's Tired But Fine and Tombi (which is Trigun Stampede's opening song). During the writing for TPSaCB, I repeated Megan Thee Stallion's Cobra. I love that song and it actually helped me captivate Takako's emotions during that fic.

3 - Actually no! His Role was written during a time I really wasn't feeling like myself at all. I had an idea and I went to putting words together. Writing that fic helped me feel better. And truth be told, I wasn't expecting the reception I got for it. Though, it does make me happy.

4 - I have no idea how many fics will be added into this AU. To be honest, when during the writing the first fic, I didn't plan to add a sequel but I decided why not? The timing was perfect since Yuji's birthday was coming up and I wanted a fic out for it.

Ookay....! First of all, Baby Kokoro was actually out 5 days ago! But I didn’t know at all (screw you work)! ^_^;;  But I’m thankfully on my break today (because of regional elections), so I’m finally able to wrap up Koiiji & Hibari no Asa, too, all in one post, just in time for my long time collaborator’s birthday, too! ( Okay... My post is actually a day late than his, but he posted right before the end of 26th -- Urrrggg.... Why am I always late??? )

Anyhoo, I haven’t draw for a looong time (since March, no srsly), and I decided to whip out something in less than 30 minutes as a gift before the day ended over there (aaand I still wound up a couple of minutes late! But whatevs xD) :

Hi anon! I hope you're having a good day as well. This request made me so happy. Not just because it's a brand new request, but because it's the first one involving one of my OCs. Anon, I must say you kinda read my mind lol. I was actually planning a similar plot line for 'More Than A Shadow.' You beat me to it :P So no, it's not weird at all. Anyway, I apologize for the delay. I hope you enjoy it!

“Surprise!” Azusa exclaimed with the rest of the team as they surprised Miyuki in the meeting room. 

Miyuki looked around perplexed. “What is this?” he asked, taking everything in. The room was decorated with banners, strings, balloons, and a big “Happy Birthday” sign. There was also a table filled with different plates of food and at the center of them all the birthday cake. 

“Happy Birthday!” Azusa said in response with a big smile plastered on her face. “Do you like your surprise?” she asked excitedly, pointing out to the room behind her. 

The catcher took another look at the room and then at her. “A surprise birthday party?” he asked, mild shock still lingering in his tone. 

The manager nodded. “Yes, everyone helped out.” 

“Hyahaha! Look at his face! He totally wasn’t expecting it!” Kuramochi snickered along with other players. 

“You guys are not that good at keeping secrets,” Miyuki smirked. “I knew something weird was going on. But I’ll admit that I didn’t think it was going to be this… Who would’ve thought that you guys actually liked me this much?” he teased. 

“Shut up you bastard!” Kuramochi exclaimed. 

“Is that the way to speak to me on my birthday?” Miyuki asked, feigning offense. 

“Fine,” Kuramochi spat. “Happy birthday you bastard and shut up!” the shortstop exclaimed instead, making everyone laugh. 

“Alright, thank you for this guys,” Miyuki said with sincerity. “This was nice of you. I know you so I know that everyone must be dying to eat and mingle, so go!” the captain said pointing towards the food. He didn’t have to say it twice as many people disappeared as soon as he said that. 

While the party started, many people such as Testsu-san, Chris-senpai, and Nabe came up to Miyuki to congratulate him. 

Azusa stood aside and went to mingle but without taking her eyes off Miyuki. She wanted to make sure that he was enjoying himself. She asked him if he liked the party but he didn’t answer her question which unnerved her. Did she do something wrong? Part of her seemed to think so, but the other part wasn’t so sure. He was mingling with other people, laughing and teasing as always. She and the managers even went to him with the sushi that they made so he could give them his honest opinion. Which to Azusa was more like masochism. Deep down they knew that he was going to give them at least one critique, but the allure of getting his approval, even if it was just once, was too tempting to resist. 

As if freaking out over the possibility that he was probably hating her for throwing a surprise birthday party wasn’t enough, there was something else bothering her. The birthday gift. Miyuki’s birthday gift to be more precise. She had it ready weeks in advance but now was sweating and getting anxious over giving it to him. She tried to play it cool while she and Takako called everyone to gather around the cake and sing happy birthday. But now that everyone was eating the cake it was the perfect chance to give it to him. Yes, she could’ve just walked up to him and given him the gift and then walk away. That would’ve been the sensible thing to do. 

But no, that made too much sense. So naturally, Azusa opted out of leaving the room altogether with the gift in hand. What if others teased her for giving him a gift?  What if he teased her? What if he didn’t like it and thought it was stupid along with the party? 

‘I’m such an idiot,’ the manager whined to herself as she slid her back on the wall next to the entrance. ‘I’ve always been a bit insecure around him but this is too much. When did things get so complicated? Is it because he is captain now? Because we’re older?’ she lost herself in her thoughts. 

“So there you are,” she heard Miyuki’s voice from behind her which startled her a bit. Azusa didn’t say anything as she watched him close the door behind him, and walk around to face her. “What are you doing here?” he asked. 

Azusa shrugged. “I just needed a bit of air,” she replied. 

“Hmmm. I think that’s my line considering that it’s my birthday,” he teased. 

Azusa rolled her eyes. “Anyone can say that. We’re all in the same place.” 

Miyuki chuckled. “Are you sure that is all?” 

“What do you mean?” 

“Nothing is bothering you?” 

Azusa’s pulse quickened. How did he almost always knew when something was bothering her?

“No, I’m fine,” she lied. 

The catcher just stared at her into her blue eyes as he shoved his hands in his pockets, making a noncommittal sound. 

Azusa replied with another noncommittal sound of her own while she held his intense stare. Shortly after, he broke the eye contact as his eyes travelled down to her legs and feet which made her heart race again. 

“What is that?” he asked, pointing to a red small bag that was sitting on the ground next to her feet. 

A blush quickly spread across the manager’s cheeks. “I… Uh…” she trailed off before gulping a thick lump down her throat. Why was she so nervous? It was a gift for the birthday boy. That’s what you do for people on their birthdays, you give them gifts. 

She met his expectant gaze and then looked away. Azusa bent down slightly to pick it up and handed it over to him. “It’s a gift.” 

“A birthday gift?”

“Yes, a birthday gift,” she clarified, not daring to look at him. 

“Well, let’s see what we got here,” Miyuki said. She heard him opening the bag as soon as he made contact with the white wrapping paper. After he tore the paper a bit, he pulled out the gift from the bag. She now couldn’t withstand the curiosity and turned to him to see his reaction. 

“A scarf,” he said to one in particular as he held it out in the air. It was a knit red scarf that she made just for him. 

“Do you like it?” she asked timidly, with a blush still adorning her face. 

Miyuki bored his brown eyes into her blue ones again without a response. He then gave her a warm smile. “Yes, I like it. I like it very much,” he replied, wrapping the scarf around his neck. “Did you make it?” 

The manager nodded. “Hai.” 

“Really? That’s impressive Azu-chan. Who would’ve thought?” he jokingly complimented. 

Azusa gave him a half-smile. “So you really like it?” 

Miyuki let out a small laugh. “Yes, I do.” 

That made Azusa’s heart jump in joy. “And the surprise party? Did you like it too? “ 

The catcher smiled at her once again. “Yes, I liked it very much. I enjoyed myself.” 

“Did you really?” she asked, unconvinced. 

Miyuki narrowed his eyes in suspicion. “Why do you think I’m lying?” 

Azusa averted her gaze in embarrassment. “It’s just that you didn’t say anything when I first asked you.” she explained. 

Her response took the catcher by surprise a bit.  

“That’s why I wasn’t sure whether you liked the party or not,” she continued, looking down at her feet. 

Suddenly Azusa felt something warm touch her chin. She quickly realized that it was Miyuki’s hand. He softly moved her chin up so she could meet his eyes. “I’m sorry Azusa,” he said in a quiet sincere tone which surprised her. 

Azusa blinked in confusion. 

“It was not my intention to make it seem as if I hated the party or that I was unappreciative. That couldn’t be further from the truth,” the catcher explained. 

“Then what was it?” 

“It’s just… It’s just that I wasn’t expecting it at all,” he tried to explain. “I haven’t had a birthday party ever since my mother passed away, much less a surprise birthday party. I didn’t think that anyone would care enough to throw me a party,” Miyuki added sheepishly, averting his gaze. 

Azusa widened her eyes, not expecting that type of response from him. She never gave it too much thought. But in reality, he had been very isolated before coming to Seido. His only friends were Mei and herself but they never attended the same middle school. Also, she knew that he didn’t have the best relationship with his previous teammates even though he didn’t talk about it. She felt like an idiot again. 

“Of course, we care enough. I care,” she replied with conviction, forgetting all about the nervousness and embarrassment that she was feeling previously. “I’ll always care about you.” 

Now it was Miyuki’s turn to blush while she was cool as a cucumber. He couldn’t bare to look at her and awkwardly scratched his cheek. “Arigatou, Azusa. For organizing the birthday party, for the gift, for caring,” he turned to her slightly for the last part. 

Azusa gave him a big smile and didn’t think about it, as she enveloped him in a hug that completely took him off guard. 

“Happy Birthday Kazuya.”

HAHA KAZUNO IS MAKE ANOTHER APPEARANCE !!

“alright kazuno! let’s check over our ingredients!” miyuki cheered, placing kazuno on the counter.”

“when i say an ingredient on the list, you give a thumbs up, okay?” kazuno nodded, his palms in fists ready to give the okay sign.

“flour! milk! eggs! sugar! butter! salt! vanilla! baking soda! baking powder! whipped cream! strawberries!and lastly chocolate chips!” miyuki listed down, looking at kazuno who’s thumbs were up the entire time. “good job buddy.”

“where’s ma?” kazuno asked, scratching his head. miyuki placed all the ingredients they had bought earlier on the counter beside kazuno, replying, “she’s somewhere with some people.”

it was your birthday today and while you had planned to spend time with your family once again, a couple of friends from high school decided to celebrate with you during the day. you wanted to refuse, but miyuki insisted you go since “you haven’t seen them in a while.” he wasn’t wrong, but you felt terrible about leaving kazuno behind when he was so excited, talking about “baking a cake” non stop for a month. 

“kazuno and i will be fine, and plus, don’t you miss takako-senpai?” miyuki said, closing the door of kazuno’s room. “have fun, party girl.”

and so you went out with the former managers of seido, going out for brunch at a lavish restaurant that was quite popular. you were having a really good time; a lot of catching up and pictures of each other’s children.

“wow, kazuno really resembles miyuki-kun, huh?” takako giggled, “does he like baseball too?” you playfully rolled your eyes, taking a sip of the coffee that you ordered. “the exact same position too.” all of you guys laughed and continued to chat, relieving the days of when you guys were still young high schoolers in seido.

on the other hand, miyuki got to work with the baking with kazuno helping him mix the batter as he measured the ingredients.

“looks good kazuno,” miyuki said, pouring the milk slowly into the batter. “after we’re done, we can decorate the cake.” he laughed as he saw kazuno’s eyes light up, pointing at the bags of whipped cream, strawberries and chocolate. “that’s right, it will be the tastiest cake ever,” he said, booping kazuno’s nose.

miyuki decided to bake a chocolate chip cake with a light whipped cream coat topped with strawberries— bouncing off of the idea and tastes of chocolate covered strawberries. he finished the batter and placed the cake in the oven, patting his hands together.

“now we wait for thirty minutes,” miyuki said to kazuno, who was nibbling on a strawberry. “what shall we do, kazuno?”

“decorate house for mom.”

“you want to decorate the house?” miyuki asked, “i guess it can’t be helped. good thing i bought decorations the other day.” and so that’s what the two did; they hung up a banner that said “happy birthday” and placed party hats on each seat of the dining table. kazuno even made a card signed by him and your husband, placing it open on the centre of the table.

“that looks great!” miyuki exclaimed, picking up kazuno. “you did a good job once again.” he kissed kazuno’s cheek and smiled.

as the day went by, you were already parting ways with your friends, kind of sad that it came to an end.

“don’t be sad, y/n-chan,” haruno said, “we’ll meet again soon.”

“that’s right!” yui chimed in, “let’s have a nice meal again.”

you bowed to them, grateful for your friendships and celebration. “thank you for everything!” you grinned, waving at them until they disappeared. you started to unlock the doors of your home, and once you did, you heard a soft pop.

“happy birthday, mom!” kazuno and miyuki said simultaneously, kazuno holding the used confetti popper. you gasped in surprise, not having any idea of what they planned for you.

“you sure looked shocked,” miyuki teased, coming up to kiss your cheek. “we were obviously going to celebrate when you got home.”

“let’s eat the cake.” kazuno mumbled, reaching out to you. you took him from miyuki’s arms, kissing his forehead. “you guys baked a cake?”

kazuno nodded and pointed to the direction of the dining table. you followed where his finger led, miyuki ambling behind. you gasped again at the decorations and the cake that was presented in front you. the cake looked delicious and the decorations made your soul swell.

“aw, thank you my loves!” you smiled, feeling the love from both of your boys in your heart. it was warm and shaky, reminding you how much you were blessed to have a family like them, and that spending your birthday with them was the best after all.

“kazuno did the decorations and helped me bake the cake,” miyuki said, wrapping an arm around your waist. “well, what are we waiting for? let’s eat.”

you looked up at your lover, his brown orbs meeting right back at yours. you leaned into him, laying your head on his shoulder and hugging kazuno tighter.

“this is the best birthday.” you muttered.

miyuki chuckled, his grip still on your waist.

“you say that every year, silly.”

“this cake is so good!” you said, eating the cake they made, “it tastes like chocolate covered strawberries. and the card was so sweet! i love you too, kazuno! but your message was stupid, kazuya.”

Sure enough, when he emerged at last, she took his hand in hers and pulled him close. "Happy birthday, sleepyhead~" Quickly she pressed a kiss to his cheek. "I thought maybe we could have some time alone before everyone else begins to chase you today. I also have this for you..." Fixing his cape and tossing it to the back, he checked his sword and then went outside of his tent. Last time, it was not properly attached so it looked funny from the back.

Once he is outside, he was greeted by the most beautiful being his eyes laid on. It sent his heart racing like crazy to see her first thing in the morning and not mention how it stopped for a split second when she kissed his cheek after taking his hand into hers and pulled him closer.

His cheeks were instantly turning red as he stood there frozen in shock before he pulled away, hand quickly slapped where she kissed him. Eyes frantically looked around to see if anyone was there, thankfully no one was there, otherwise he would have died of embarrassment. To think that Yumiko--Takako would initiate something like this. He should not make her feel awkward for trying her best to do something nice for him.

Clearing his throat, it would not be proper to not face her. A smile graced his lips as he looked at her. “You’re just an early bird,” a light chuckle. “Is that so? Then lucky me, because I hoped for that, too.” he tilted his head to see her blush even more then offer her gift.

“You really didn’t have to ...” he took the box from her, eyes darted between her and the box, silent permission to check what is inside then he opened the box. “A dagger ...” he picked it up, examining it. It is clearly well made, not a shabby one but a really good one. Something caught his attention when he held it. Index traced the bead that was embedded into the hilt, “This is...Isn’t this yours?” surprised look colored his face as he glanced back at her.

“O-oh, right ...” how thoughtful of her. This is after all, something important to her. “I’ll take care of it,” gripping tightly at the dagger. She has been giving him a lot of things since she came into his life and no matter what he do, he feels short in repaying her. “Thank you ...” sincerely said as he could muster before he leaned to press a proper kiss to her lips. “Thank you for showing up in my life.”

Some skaters are known to be short program skaters and others are known for their free skates. A select few consistently package together a pair of strong routines. For Karen Chen, she places a lot of emphasis on executing a solid short program to start off with a competitive edge on the scoreboard leading into the second day of competition. "I put a lot of pressure on my short program because it's what sets you up for the long and people admit you can't win the short, but you can lose because of your short," she said. To get Chen into that fighting mode for the 2020-21 season, she selected Katy Perry's track titled "Rise" because she finds "the lyrics so inspiring and empowering." For her free skate, the 2017 U.S. champion is skating to "Butterfly Lover Concerto" by Takako Nishizaki. "It's basically a Chinese version of Romeo and Juliet and so it's pretty iconic and I knew that I wanted to try to skate to this piece of music and really portray the characters," she said. "I've always thought that my short and my long should be different. They shouldn't have the same style." Chen loves this routine so much, she may decide to keep it for next year's Olympic season, but it's still too premature to commit to that. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are fewer competitions for skaters to perform each of their routines at this year and the choreography process was a bit out of the ordinary too. Chen worked with her choreographers over Zoom to assemble her two routines. It was challenging because it was their first time working together and also their first time choreographing virtually. "[It was] definitely a bit of a struggle in the beginning, but through a lot of communication and meetings and just talking things out, we were really able to figure things out," she said.

With the 2020 Guaranteed Rate Skate America being her only Grand Prix competition this year, Chen is already thinking ahead to setting herself up for success at the 2021 Toyota U.S. Figure Skating Championships in January. The competition was due to take place in San Jose, California, but has been relocated to The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas to recreate the same bubble that was put in place during Skate America. By the time January comes around and she takes the national stage, Chen hopes to debut the triple Axel she's been hard at work on in practice. Fellow American skaters Amber Glenn and Alysa Liu already have the triple Axel under their belts, with several other skaters feverishly working to master the difficult jump. Landing the triple Axel at the U.S. Championships would undoubtedly be a game changer in Chen's career. "I've been able to do it really consistently on the harness, but it's off the harness that's a bit of a challenge," she said. "I think the triple Axel is definitely doable and once I get that, then we'll start thinking about quads. I just don't want to get too far ahead of myself. I want to stay in the moment and achieve one thing at a time." Chen is very goal-oriented headed into the remainder of the season. She is also working on continuing to improve the consistency of her jumps, fine tuning her routines, polishing each movement and her musicality. At Skate America where she finished in fourth place, Chen was disappointed for making a costly mistake on her triple loop in the long program, a jump she said she can normally rely on. Her coach Tammy Gambill reassured her she "was very happy with everything that I put out and she was proud of me." Since Skate America, Chen has returned to her training site in Colorado Springs, Colorado, alongside fellow Team USA athletes including Skate America silver and bronze medalists Bradie Tennell and Audrey Shin, respectively, and competitors Pooja Kalyan and Paige Rydberg. She also trains with some leading men – Camden Pulkinen, Tomoki Hiwatashi and Vincent Zhou. "I [used to] train in Riverside where there was literally no one and it was just me and my coach Tammy and I really liked that environment," Chen said. "After coming to train in Colorado Springs, I started adapting to the training environment there and it also just grew on me. I really like having those elite training sessions with so many of the top, top skaters. And we kind of just all motivate each other. I think it's something that is really great for all of us." Chen was very excited to return to the ice in Colorado after the rink had been closed for two months due to the pandemic. She spent those two months with her mom and brother, Jeffrey, in Michigan, where her brother trains as a junior-level ice dancer with partner Katarina Wolfkostin. The siblings enjoyed playing "Just Dance" on Nintendo Switch as a workout. Chen also remained very busy remotely completing her freshman year of classes at Cornell University. She has since decided to take a leave of absence from college to focus on skating. Although Chen has never been big on birthdays, she did reach a milestone birthday – her 21st – in August. She celebrated at home in Colorado with her boyfriend and a cake. Her family in Michigan joined via Zoom. Once it is safer to travel on vacations, Chen would like to plan her first trip to Hawaii to celebrate. Chen will participate in this weekend's Las Vegas Invitational presented by HomeLight as part of Team Johnny [Weir], airing on NBC on Sunday, Nov. 15, from 4-6 p.m. ET. She and her teammates will compete against Team Tara [Lipinski] for $50,000 in prize money.
